Aziraphale's sweeties stash
I dropped this ask into @vidavalor's inbox a little while ago, received encouragement to write the fic, and, well, here it is! Just a short bit of fluff to contrast my recent longfic(s) -- enjoy!
---
"Are...are you sure about this, Mr. Fell? It's rather a lot of sweets for one person..."
"Quite sure! It'd be a terrible shame to let your hard work go to waste." So saying, Aziraphale cheerfully paid for the two large bags of sweets and wiggled his way back across the street to the Bookshop, daydreaming a little about feeding his serpent that evening.
A couple of hours later, when Aziraphale was arranging his purchases on the kitchen table, the Bookshop's main door opened and closed, the wood creaking in the elegantly dry-witted way that Crowley always managed to elicit. The click of sunglasses being hung on a statue, and scarcely a moment later, long arms wrapped around his waist and the beloved voice muttered, "What've you got there, angel?" into his ear, short puffs of breath tickling the outer shell.
"The sweet shop across the road is closing." Aziraphale popped a strawberry bonbon into his mouth and chewed thoughtfully.
"What? No more hand-made sweets?" Crowley snitched a chunk of rum-and-raisin fudge.
"'Fraid so. The poor soul's health isn't what it was, and he has some complicated family matters to deal with, so he's selling the space to Nina, who runs the coffee shop." Aziraphale broke off, trying to decide between the dolly mixtures and the jelly babies, before munching on a pinch of each.
"So you bought up his remaining stock?" asked Crowley with a raised eyebrow, around a small mint-chocolate humbug.
Aziraphale hovered for a moment over the toffees. "Oh, yes. It would've been a terrible shame to let all that hard work go to waste, especially when the sweets are so good, so I thought I'd set up a little stash to dip into whenever the cravings arise." He unwrapped a lemon-lime toffee and popped it into his mouth.
Crowley smirked mischievously. "I see," he replied, raising an eyebrow before doing something truly peculiar with his lower jaw to accommodate a large handful of peanut brittle.
Aziraphale merely sucked on his toffee, perhaps a liiittle more noisily than was strictly necessary, and maintained eye contact with his serpent. Crowley retaliated by crunching down the last of the peanut brittle, selecting a strawberry bootlace and somehow managing to eat it in an alluring manner.
"Mhhhnggleeennngk!" Aziraphale bit down sharply on his toffee. It took a couple of seconds to wrench his teeth apart, and there was quite a bit of residue left. He made the invincible pleading eyes at Crowley, who rendered assistance with his marvellously talented tongue.
Once they'd made thoroughly sure that all the toffee residue was taken care of, Aziraphale removed his hands from Crowley's behind long enough to nip around closing the blinds, putting up the 'Closed' sign and locking the doors, before placing himself within range of the living room sofa.
[one sugar-fuelled romp later]
Aziraphale, sated and pleasantly fuzzy, lounged on the sofa, hand-feeding sugar mice to the large snake coiled on his chest.

I had fun drawing and coloring the Candy Land-like HS kids. Therefore, I like drawing the HS kids in different attires and it’s really cuter in this Sweet Shoppe-esque drawing! 🌈🌈🧁🍭🍦

SWEET SHOPS
This is the page i did on sweet shops with research included, i love the look of old sweet shops they look so retro and rustic and when you see one it’s like going back in time.
Mrs Brighton’s sweet shop- At the top of main street in Haworth, Keighley West yorkshire. It’s a family run business though it isn’t big it is wonderful and they have a large range of sweets (500) with 231 of them being in jars. They take their time doing research and supply their sweets from a wide range of British suppliers. Stepping into this unique shop is a blast from the past and the sweets are delicious!
The oldest sweet shop in the world- Opened in 1827 and hold the guinness world record for oldest sweet shop. Nestled in the charming town of Pateley Bridge, this shop stands as a delightful testament to nostalgia and tradition, the shelves are lined up with retro sweets and chocolate. The building dates back to the 1600s. They live doing things the old fashioned way like weighing sweets out by a quarter of a pound into old fashioned scales.
Old fashioned sweets traditionally came in jars and though you don’t see it much anymore there was always a good reason for it, putting the sweets in jars helped to preserve them making them last longer.
Lindt and Sprüngl- This brand started when David Sprünglis small sweet shop opened in Zurich in the 1800s. the Lindt brand first came to be in 1845, sales dropped during the 1st and 2nd world wars but rose rapidly again. These days they sell their chocolate all over the world and have shops everywhere.
Newer sweet shops are more aimed towards the new, social media generation. They often have brighter and more saturated colours to appeal to younger people and seem more ‘trendy’. An example of this is Mr Baileys candy cave set to open on March 7th in Harrogate. His new and 3rd sweet shop will stock American candy, retro sweets and other classics along with newer sweets.
Another modern sweet shop is Hey Sweetheart in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. It is an online and delivery service established in 2020 by Cheryl Hey snd Lewis Ola due to mutual love for things sweet. They’re an independent, family run business. They stock a large selection of sweets and also offer pick and mix, mystery boxes and more.
