For context, the Gävle goat is a giant yule goat made of straw that is erected in the Swedish town of Gävle. Ever since its first appearance in 1966, the goat has been burned down, destroyed or damaged in some way, 38 out of 57 times since the tradition started (do take a look at the wiki page)

I want this poor goat to survive every year. Although that one time with crows was okay, cause then at least it served some good purpose (saving these crows for hunger). Other accidents are just vandalism and the waste of many people's work.

Honestly, it's the mere fact that the goat has this complicated history that people make bets whenever it will burn or not.

I wasn’t feeling traditionally festive this season, but I have been enraptured by the Gävleboken, and whether the goat will burn. So I decided to do my December set based on beloved holiday arson traditions.

This one was inspired by Gävle goat, who is a big Yule goat that gets built in the Swedish town Gävle. It has been destroyed 42 out of 58 times it has been built, and the majority of them is by arson, which has unfortunately become it's claime to fame.

I grew up with a lot of Swedish Christmas decor in my house, hence why I like sharing what I know about the Yule Goat with people who are curious as to why the Goat isn't traditionally burned.

And also in slight hope that if more people know the Goat is not traditionally burned, the less likely it is for someone to think you're supposed to burn Yule Goats.
