swansea is truly the only one who was in enough of a position of power to attempt to make things better on the ship. daisuke wasn't taken seriously because he's just a kid, and anya, the only woman on the ship, had already been ignored so many times. after the crash, swansea still tried to protect both of them, and yeah he wasn't perfect, but how could you expect anyone in that situation to know exactly what to do and magically make everything better?? he mentioned being a father and probably because of that felt a sense of responsibility to both of the most vulnerable crew members, but he also knew the reality of the situation, and he couldn't pretend it was anything different. he failed, but he tried, even though he knew it wouldn't be enough. truly one of the most underrated characters of all time i want 20 more like this please waiter
#mouthwashing#i have hw to work on before taz tonight so this is not as well articulated as it could be#im sure i'll write the full essay at some point guys dw

Underrated aspect about this game that I love is how it lowkey calls out the excuses of abusive behaviors like I was tired, I was hungry, I'm overworked and I'm just hurt by making all of the crew members go through the same problems Jimmy had.
All of them were only allowed to sleep five hours a night. All of them were hungry because they didn't have enough food. All of them were anxious about the pods since there were only four and if something terrible happened, someone will be left behind. Their inner lives weren't that great either; Swansea was struggling with sobriety and a family to support, Anya failed to enter nursing school eight times and had no savings, Daisuke felt aimless and got let go on an internship that was supposed to set him straight and Curly was suffering from hallucinations, depression and suicidal ideation. None of them were in a good place.
And yet it's only Jimmy who acts out. It's only Jimmy who assaults someone, uses the weaknesses of the crew members against them, tries to take down everyone with him when his life goes to shit again and refuses to grow as a person no matter how much he fucks up.
Mouthwashing said "everyone is going through something terrible so never trust anyone who uses their problems to excuse their shitty treatment" and I respect that so much.

I just finished Mouthwashing before reading your post!! Watching the events in sequence after playing the game really makes you understand the characters and the events better.
SPOILER
Poor Anya man I'm so emotional rn she seems like such a nice person. She truly did deserve so much better. She's truly my favourite. And I feel so bad for Daisuke too!! Poor sunshine boy he's so relatable. Not being good at things even after trying your best. I absolutely hate hate hate you know who for everything he did to our poor Anya, to Daisuke, to Swansie, to Curly, especially Anya. I may not like Curly that much but omg.
They did such an amazing job writing the characters and each and every single detail about them.
i had to rewatch manlybadasshero’s play through a few times to pick up on clues that i glossed over or didn’t understand at first. there’s still some things that are unclear but are clearly left for interpretation by the devs.
you can hate the worst person in the game *coughhhh * j****** and still like his writing. characters like him and curly are truly well done but are the types of people you would not like irl. but likke..can’t you believe people are romanticizing j***** like bro..so loco..
omg daisuke such a cutie, i really felt bad. he tried his best. swansea is so underrated with his beer belly.
anya ohhhh anyaaa..

Alan Yentob waits in reception at Doctor Who’s new HQ, with a Dalek prop for company. “Look, there’s the greatest evil in the universe,” says Russell T Davies in welcome. “And a Dalek.” I suspect it isn’t the first time Davies has cracked this gag, but delivered with a hearty laugh and a bear hug, Yentob is powerless to resist. After all, as presenter and series editor, he gamely left it in the final cut.
This joyous film profiles the once in a generation talent known as RTD. Well, I say once in a generation. A lovely sequence sees Davies reunite with his old Granada mucker Sally Wainwright, arguably his sole rival as Britain’s top television writer. As they ponder their parallel careers, I’m relieved there isn’t a gas explosion or similar tragedy. Contemporary British TV would have been ruined in one fell swoop.
A whistle stop tour of his TV CV begins with Davies’s roots in children’s programming, including a brief stint as a Play School presenter. Imagine if he hadn’t realised that his destiny lay behind the camera. Doesn’t bear thinking about. We fast forward past underrated gems like Bob & Rose (gay Jonathan Creek!), The Second Coming (young Christopher Eccleston!), Casanova (young David Tennant!), and Cucumber (which makes me cry all over again at that devastating Cyril Nri death scene).
Yentob traces Davies’s evolution as our foremost screen chronicler of the gay male experience. Davies first dipped a toe in with an episode of period soap The Royal, about a closeted barman discovering Manchester’s Canal Street in the 1920s. When producers hesitated, he held his nerve, knowing that budgets were so tight they had no choice but to shoot his script. Having found his voice, Davies was emboldened to create the landmark drama Queer As Folk and its spiritual prequel, the recent masterpiece It’s a Sin.
After channelling his political rage into the dystopian polemic Years and Years, and powered by the death of his beloved husband Andrew Smith, Davies felt ready to tell the story he’d been avoiding for 30 years. He had deliberately ignored HIV and Aids in Queer As Folk to kick against screen stereotypes. Now it was finally time to honour “those brave, beautiful boys” who died during the 80s epidemic. It’s a Sin duly broke streaming records and led to a huge rise in HIV testing.
Davies has always plundered his past for ideas. As he says: “There’s not the writer and then me. There’s just me. All of my life connects to the writing. All of it.” In his home in Mumbles, Swansea, there are toy Daleks on the bookshelves, and “La!” mugs in the kitchen (a nod to an in-joke from It’s a Sin). His teenage memories of the Jeremy Thorpe trial begat A Very English Scandal. His obsession with the wobbly-set soap Crossroads led to Nolly. He cheerfully reveals that stories, scenes and chunks of dialogue sit in his head for decades, waiting for an opportunity. Broadcast-ready scripts then come pouring out all at once, his typing fingers struggling to keep pace. He asks Yentob: “You talk to lots of writers. Aren’t we all like this?” Not really, no. Davies looks slightly disappointed.
Woven throughout, of course, is a certain Time Lord. Watching Doctor Who aged three isn’t just Davies’ first TV memory, it’s his first memory full stop. While other Swansea schoolboys were discovering football and girls, he was glued to the telly, creating remarkably accomplished Who comic strips. He eventually realised he was writing, not drawing. In 2005, Davies masterminded the show’s reboot after 16 years off air, transforming it from a naff joke into a global franchise.
There’s no better custodian of the ultimate show for outsiders and underdogs, hence he is taking the reins again for its 60th anniversary special. He must have been in the Tardis countless times, but Davies still fizzes with glee when he takes Yentob inside that magical blue box. It’s a Sin reinvigorated his taste for shows that spark a national conversation. Now he can pour all his passion and stored-up stories into NuWho MK II, using Disney’s cash to help realise his vision. It bodes well for the show’s future. So do tantalising glimpses of the incoming Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa, who has charisma – or “rizz”, as the dictionary now calls it – to burn.
Sure, this is puff as much as documentary. Yet with its riotous interviews and evocative clips, this is a timey wimey treat – whether you’re a Whovian, a fan of great TV or just someone who appreciates a man with a resealable pack of 1,000 Tetley teabags (Davies is an out and proud bulk buyer). It is glorious to spend an hour in the company of his big, blazing brilliance – and a reminder of how lucky we are to have him.'

Hey Europe, we’re coming for you… AGAIN! We had this scheduled for 2021, but obviously that didn’t happen. But I feel real good about it happening in 2022, so grab some tickets and please help spread the word over there about these shows. We’d love to make European trips a much more regular thing.
APRIL – 2022 17th – Berlin – FRANNZ Club 18th – Amsterdam – Melkweg 19th – Paris – Les Étoiles 21st – London – Shepherd’s Bush 22nd – Great Yarmouth – Sci-Fi Weekender 23rd – Swansea – Sin City 24th – Oxford – O2 Academy 26th – Wolverhampton – KK’s Steel Mill 27th – Glasgow – The Garage 28th – Bradford – Nightrain
BANDCAMP FRIDAY …… is today!
We’ve put up the freshly mixed 2021 version of “Built To Last” on Bandcamp a couple times in the past year for Bandcamp Fridays, but I realized that it’s never lined up with a mailer before for me to tell you about it, so… here you go! It’s available for purchase on our Bandcamp page until 11:59pm PST tonight (Friday).
AND we just noticed that the split black/clear variant of “Night of Queen” vinyl is down to less than 100 copies, so we’ve added it to the Bandcamp store as well.
If you don’t know what the hell a Bandcamp Friday is, it’s a very special day where Bandcamp waives their fees for 24 hours, so the artists get all of the money (except for CC fees, but that’s fair enough). So yeah, get out there and support some bands today so they can buy some Tapatio Doritos!
NEW YEARS 2021 Happy to announce that our New Years show at Exit/In with Makeup And Vanity Set and Hans Condor has sold out, but we wanted to give you a heads up on some new COVID related policy changes at Exit/In (and a majority of venues in Nashville).
I know it’s still a few months away, but as of right now, Exit/In is requiring a proof of vaccine OR a negative Covid-19 test (within 48hours of the show) to get into the show, with masks strongly recommended. We’re all for this, by the way. The more precautions the better, so venues can stay open and so we don’t get stuck in a lockdown situation again.
KYLE GASS – VACCINATED Speaking of vaccines and such, Kyle Gass (of Tenacious D fame – he was also in Evolution, which is a criminally underrated film, I might add) asked us a while back to shoot some footage for a little video he put together for his “Vaccinated” parody of The Ramones’s, “I Wanna Be Sedated.” We obliged. And while they couldn’t use very much of our stuff because it was such a jam-packed star-studded event, we figured we might as well release the Snyder Cut. You might want to rent out a movie theater to watch this potentially academy award winning gem. Watch HERE.
LIVE IN NASHVILLE Don’t think you can make it to our New Years or European shows? Don’t sweat it, we made Live In Nashville for this very exacting reason! If you don’t have it already, grab a copy of the Blu-ray and/or CD (or just the digital versions) from our Sound Machine or Kings Road Europe stores and watch or listen anytime from the comfort of your own home.
COVER UP VINLY NEARLY SOLD OUT If you want a copy of The Cover Up on record, you’d better hurry, there are only about 200 left in Sound Machine Store and much less than that at stores across the US America. Again, if your local record shop doesn’t have it, see if they can get it from URP Distribution before they’re all gone. Also, there are some signed copies available at the SM Store right now.
Stay safe out there,
-Commander

Why Are Food Trucks Popular These Days?
The increasing number of operational food trucks in the US shows how much love people are shown towards food trucks. Eating from a food truck means enjoying the fresh air, hot meals, and self-service. A lot of local chefs loved the success they got from their food trucks, especially because of the popularity of social media platforms.
Earlier, people used to think of these food trucks as a spot never to stop by. And now, these trucks are actually winning hearts because of their delicious local recipes. These remote street vendors are gaining enormous popularity these days, but why? Below are some points to tell you what makes them stand among others:
Affordable prices: Not every individual favors spending loads just to get a single serving. Food trucks are the best options when it comes to economical yet finger-licking food.
Delicious recipes: These underrated chefs work really hard to deliver the best. Their local tasty food is sometimes what you only need.
Exciting food place: Food trucks can be an interesting and fun way to enjoy your meals, especially with friends or family. The open sky, fresh air, and nature make you feel relaxed.
Meeting people: The people around the food truck are not necessarily foodies. Some stop by because they are late, some just want to give it a try, and some are not even hungry but fall for the environment. Apparently, it's a food place, but it brings people together.
Organic food: Food trucks are not made to carry loads of non-seasonal ingredients. They are low on space, so they prefer using seasonal and fresh ingredients only. The other reason for this may be the competition with restaurants in Swansea IL which makes them use the best ingredients. As a result, you get the tastiest and healthiest food.
