Meet the House of Ali — featuring Ashraf Ali, Josefina Dara, Noor Ali, and Mahmoud Ali.

ASHRAF • Young Adult • Goofball, Generous, Family-oriented

Ashraf is a San Myshuno native, born and raised by Noor and Mahmoud Ali. Despite being an only child, Ash was always pretty close to his community in the Spice District. I like to think he's much like his father, having inherited a lot of his chaotic humor. But through and through, he's a mama's boy. Since a young age, Ash has been passionate about music. Following high school, he sought to pursue music in college, but ended up dropping out due to costs. Since dropping out of art school, his dreams have shifted back toward his community. As his parents get older, Ash has gotten passionate about fighting for equity in the city, especially for local immigrants and ethnic minorities. Through his new work in activist circles, he met Josefina, another city native. Their friendship quickly turned into a romance and very swiftly, they began imagining a life together. It wasn't long before the two became and engaged and Josefina moved in, which is where we begin our story.

JOSEFINA • Young Adult • Materialistic, Overachiever, Family-Oriented

Josefina is also a San Myshuno native, but with less family around. Originally born in Sulani assigned male at birth, Josefina grew up with her father in San Myshuno who was relatively supportive of her flamboyant expression of her gender from such a young age. When Josefina was a preteen, her father passed away and she spent a few years jumping from foster home to foster home in the city. When she became a teenager, she gained emancipation and began her transition with hormonal replacement therapy (HRT) to support her newfound womanhood. Despite jumping from job to job, Josefina always felt rooted to her activist friends in the city, through whom she met Ashraf. She didn't quite know how lonely she was until she met him. Pretty quickly he felt like family and they began to dream of a life together. Their romance moved quickly and she accepted his offer to move in with him and his parents. Josefina dreams of becoming a famous actress. At times this dream gets the best of her and she gets lost in trying to be the most stylish person in the room. It is also because of this dream that she worries that she won't fully be accepted by Ash's parents. But she's sure trying her best to make good impressions with them.

NOOR • Elder • Lazy, Wise, Cheerful

Noor and Mahmoud were childhood sweethearts, growing up in the same village outside of Oasis Springs (this is the best I got y'all... Sims 4 doesn't have any North African-inspired or Middle Eastern worlds). Mahmoud was one of her first friends since going to school and from there, he became one of the safest people in her world. Since leaving their home, Noor and Mahmoud both kept looking to building a new home and family for themselves in the city. They always aimed stay in the city temporarily and move out to San Sequoia to raise their children. However, that day never came. After having Ashraf, the two wanted more children but Noor faced difficulties in getting pregnant. Eventually, they praised God for their blessings and showered Ashraf with all their love, attention, and care. Noor works at the local hospital as a medical assistant. Ashraf continues to be her greatest blessing. Life has passed her quickly and her dreams of becoming a doctor have become less important to her than spending time with her family and being present in every moment. She is happy for Ashraf and excited to have Josefina as her soon-to-be daughter-in-law, though she prays day in and day out that they both will be able to give her grandkids one day.

MAHMOUD • Elder • Goofball, Family-oriented, Freegan

Mahmoud was a friend to everyone in the village since a young boy. He loved nothing more though than making Noor laugh. He became quickly protective of his new friend, and eventually his friendship with Noor grew beyond platonic. 'The rest is ancient history,' he says. He knew that Noor wanted to be a doctor, so he proposed that they move to San Myshuno, chasing opportunities in a land bountiful in possibility. Mahmoud had crafted a grand plan for them when they arrived: • GET A JOB • GET RICH • MOVE TO SAN SEQUOIA • HAVE 3 BOYS AND 3 GIRLS But life happened. Mahmoud has never resented how things turned out for his family in San Myshuno—after all, he loved his wife and his new son, Ashraf with all of his heart. However, over the years, he's grown tired of living in San Myshuno and the struggles they've had with money, the rudeness and exploitation from the rich, and the lack of opportunities in the Spice District. Still he reminds himself of his blessings. Mahmoud works as a community activist and is so proud of his son for following in his footsteps to support and work for his community. Secretly, however, he resents working at all in San Myshuno. He misses his homeland and misses the days of working as a farmhand on his uncle's farm as a young boy, so he does what he can to save money and make produce in the local community garden. Mahmoud is thrilled to meet Josefina, despite not knowing very much about her beyond what Ash has told him and Noor. He just hopes that she will make lots of money so he can retire.

Les surhumains sont des êtres doués d’une capacité spéciale. Nul ne connaît leur existence, si ce n’est l’Ordre et, bien sûr, les surhumains eux-mêmes. Il arrive que certains humains soient au courant s’ils sont proches d’un surhumain.

1 - Que sont les surhumains, et comment apparaissent-ils ?

Les surhumains sont des humains qui présentent une “anomalie” dans leur sang. Quasiment indétectable car non étudiée par les médecins, cette anomalie a été découverte par l’Ordre il y a une cinquantaine d’années et sert désormais à retrouver et recenser plus facilement les surhumains.

Ces derniers apparaissent de manière aléatoire au sein de la population mondiale, bien que certaines zones géographiques semblent concentrer plus de naissances de surhumains :

le sud des Etats-Unis (dont Waydon);

la région SWAANA (South-west Asia and North Africa);

les Balkans;

le Japon;

la Nouvelle-Zélande.

Un surhumain (ou 2 surhumains) ne donnent ainsi pas forcément naissance à un surhumain, bien que cela soit possible. L’Ordre semble penser que plus il y a de surhumains au sein d’une lignée, plus il y a de chance qu’un surhumain apparaisse. Cela serait lié à cette fameuse “anomalie” du sang, qui bien qu’elle soit extrêmement récessive, se transmet via le patrimoine génétique. 

2 - Leur perception d’eux-mêmes

Isolés, les surhumains se pensent souvent seuls au monde, ne croient parfois même pas en leur propre capacité ou refusent d’y croire. Il leur arrive parfois de se retrouver en petits groupes, quand ils sont membres d’une même famille ou quand l’un utilise une capacité devant un autre, souvent par inadvertance car ils ont peur de ce que l’on pourrait leur faire.

Il y a ceux qui parlent de leur capacité comme d’un don, tandis que d’autres en parlent plutôt comme d’une malédiction. Cette perception d’eux-même peut bien sûr être influencée par leurs croyances ou la culture dans laquelle ils ont été élevés (par exemple de nombreux surhumains catholiques et protestants ont tendance à mal accepter leur capacité, qu’ils voient comme une manifestation diabolique).

3 - Les surhumains de Waydon

À Waydon, il existe une petite communauté de surhumains qui se connaissent. Cette communauté n’a jamais été organisée de quelque manière que ce soit, bien qu’aujourd’hui, certains surhumains ressentent le besoin de se recentrer autour de ce groupe afin de chercher la protection des autres.

En effet, les meurtres récents se sont tous révélés être des meurtres de surhumains - ce qu’ils ont fini par comprendre via les connaissances des uns et des autres. Bien que le reste de la population ne le sache pas, ce groupe - au courant de l’existence de l’Ordre - se pose des questions. Est-ce l’Ordre qui a fait le coup ? Pourquoi, alors qu’ils leur ont toujours fait comprendre qu’ils étaient là pour les aider et les protéger ? Pourquoi est-ce que les corps ont été retrouvés, alors qu’on leur avait toujours dit que l’Ordre ne serait jamais inquiété ?

D’abord composé de 5 personnes, le groupe s'agrandit de jour en jour, à mesure des découvertes et des connaissances que l’on y ramène. Il n’y a pas de hiérarchie, mais l’on reconnaît comme “leader” le membre ayant eu l’idée de ce groupe, et qui accueille le groupe sur sa propriété (place libre).

4 - Les liens avec l’Ordre

Les surhumains n’ont, à priori, pas de lien avec l’Ordre. Cependant, il arrive - plus fréquemment qu’on pourrait le penser - que les agents de terrain entrent en contact avec un surhumain afin de le prévenir sur les conséquences que pourraient avoir l’utilisation trop visible de sa capacité. Lorsqu’un agent de terrain entre en contact avec un surhumain dans ce cas de figure, ce dernier se présente toujours comme membre d’une organisation dédiée à la protection des personnes présentant des capacités spéciales. Il explique également au surhumain que pour son bien, il est indispensable de ne parler de la capacité à personne, et de ne pas en faire une utilisation trop visible. 

L’objectif est d’obtenir la confiance du surhumain, bien que de nombreux surhumains soient méfiants de nature (notamment ceux déjà victimes de discriminations et dont la méfiance est, à juste titre, plus grande). 

Si le surhumain ne respecte pas les recommandations de l’Ordre, ce dernier recevra plusieurs avertissements en fonction de la gravité de son comportement, jusqu’au “nettoyage”.

5 - Le fonctionnement des capacités

Les capacités fonctionnent de manière instinctive, comme un être humain respire ou parle, un surhumain va pouvoir utiliser sa capacité.

En revanche, les capacités ne sont pas aussi puissantes que l’on pourrait le penser, car elles viennent toutes avec un pendant négatif qui peut s'aggraver avec le temps ou l’utilisation de la capacité. Les surhumains ayant été en contact avec un membre de l’Ordre sont au courant de ces effets négatifs, bien qu’ils ne sachent pas toujours quel va être le pendant négatif de leur capacité. Ils ont donc plus tendance à utiliser leur capacité avec modération.

6 - Liste non-exhaustive des capacités

Pour l’instant, il n’y aura que deux places par capacité afin de ne pas avoir que des surhumains du même type. Si vous inventez votre propre capacité, vous serez évidemment assuré de pouvoir la jouer.

À noter : les pendants négatifs peuvent être les mêmes pour plusieurs capacités. Si vous n’avez pas d’idée pour la capacité que vous voulez inventer, n’hésitez pas à vous inspirer dans la liste ci-dessous.

Aérokinésie : capacité à manipuler les flux d'air, sans les créer, sans en extraire un gaz particulier (tel que l’oxygène). Pendant négatif : vertiges et problèmes d’oreille interne.

Dreamwalking : la capacité à se rendre dans le rêve d’une personne. Pendant négatif : l’absence totale de rêve et des nuits agitées. 

Hydrokinésie : maîtrise de l’eau sous sa forme liquide uniquement, sans la créer ni amplifier la quantité d’eau disponible. Pendant négatif : déshydratation du corps plus rapide.

Hypermnésie : capacité mnésique sur-développée, la personne n’oublie rien. Pendant négatif : confusion, perte de repères spatiaux et temporels.

Immortalité : régénération cellulaire infinie et rapide causant l’immortalité. Pendant négatif : une amnésie progressive, l’immortel oublie les premiers instants de sa vie, mais a également des problèmes de mémoire à court terme.

Inedia : la capacité à survivre sans avoir besoin de manger ni de boire. Pendant négatif : l’absence de saveur des aliments. 

Intuition : capacité à ressentir les émotions et le déroulé d'événements futurs. Pendant négatif : un besoin viscéral de rester seul‧e plusieurs heures/jours sous peine de perdre pied.

Intangibilité : la capacité à rendre son corps intangible (non solide). Pendant négatif : rester bloqué‧e dans cet état de plus en plus longtemps sans savoir en sortir.

Lévitation : la capacité à léviter à quelques mètres du sol et à se déplacer sur quelques mètres uniquement. Pendant négatif : des migraines. 

Modulation des ondes sonores : capacité à manipuler le son. Pendant négatif : acouphènes qui surviennent plus ou moins tôt en fonction de l’utilisation de la capacité au cours de la vie.

Psychométrie : capacité de connaissance d'un individu en touchant un objet lui ayant appartenu avec les mains. Pendant négatif : une fatigue de plus en plus éreintante en fonction de l’ancienneté de l’objet, et qui survient après avoir touché l’objet.

Projection astrale : capacité à projeter son corps - tangible et intangible - dans un autre lieu. Pendant négatif : un trouble de l’oreille interne - la personne doit parfois s’allonger de plusieurs minutes à plusieurs heures avant de pouvoir marcher. 

Pyrokinésie : capacité à manipuler le feu, sans le créer ni amplifier les flammes existantes (sauf en cas de manipulation pour brûler un produit inflammable et donc créer plus de flammes). Pendant négatif : grande frilosité, sujet à l’hypothermie.

Rétrocognition : capacité à voir les évènements passés du lieu où l’on se trouve. Pendant négatif : confusion et vertiges jusqu’à la perte de connaissance.

Sur-force : Force trois fois supérieure à la force humaine, la personne peut se muscler pour encore augmenter sa capacité. Pendant négatif : fatigue qui survient rapidement et nécessité de faire de longues nuits.

Super Vitesse : capacité à se déplacer 10 fois plus vite qu’un humain. Pendant négatif : fatigue qui survient rapidement et nécessité de faire de longues nuits.

Télékinésie : capacité à déplacer des objets dans un rayon de 35 mètres. Pendant négatif : migraines intempestives

Vision nocturne : capacité à voir dans le noir comme en plein jour. Pendant négatif : photosensibilité.

Here is the thing, I don’t really hate any of the characters in Bloodborne, but I think Maria is seriously overhyped. She is a great character and all, but when I fought her I was expecting to die like a hundred times and then she was down in four tries and I died more to get her Rakuyo and the character I really fell for but is extremely shunted was Laurence, so, huh...I am sorry, Waifu Maria, but the Plain Doll and Ebrietas are my waifus.
