my ideas for a hypothetical svtfoe rewrite/remake

mewni is more of a fantasy world/dimension rather than ‘earth but magical’

star is more of a tomboy, preferring pants over dresses

she doesn’t like the growing pressure of being the heir of the throne and has no desire to be queen whatsoever

she also got her hair cut short because of how many times she would get it dirty or something stuck in it

the ponyheads do not exist. kelly is star’s friend now

star & marco’s relationship is platonic in the beginning, starting off as strangers but eventually becoming friends. marco teaches star what life on earth is like and star helps marco with his crush on jackie (she’s basically the wing/hype man)

jenna is marco’s earth friend more or less - i see their dynamic as them sticking together as the ‘odd ones out duo’ (which later on becomes a trio when star shows up)

marco does confess his feelings to jackie only to find out that she only sees him as a friend (get friendzoned /j) but they do stay in touch 

mewberty is actually a thing and a part of every mewnian’s life 

the monster arm episode is more or less the same but with the arm itself affecting marco mentally, slowly making him not like himself (ie, acting more monstrous)

this reaches a boiling point where star tries to talk to marco about fixing the mistake she made only to find out that marco isn’t the one she’s talking to, but the arm who has fully possessed marco’s body 

star has a ‘i know you’re somewhere in there’ fight before dispelling it and the arm is gone now! (but the voice is still lingering and pretty much becomes a TKO/fleetway super sonic type of presence in his mind but shhh it’s a secret)

dark magic can grant the user more power but it does have the potential of corrupting one’s self when in use (unless you have a strong will/mind and/or a affinity towards it)

meteora does not retain miss heinous’ hatred for marco/princess turdina

the magic realm doesn’t get permanently destroyed in the end, but rather it gets purified/restored/comes back 

mina doesn’t die, she comes back like meteora does 

marco’s cheekmarks are either a side effect from using the wand or the blood moon ball (NO they don’t get their memories wiped of the event)

ALSO the blood moon gave marco and star a ‘bond’ that grants them abilities such as: communicating mentally, being able to sense when the other's in danger, etc

marco and hekapoo are just friends

marco does struggle with the whole ‘being a adult in one dimension only to become as a teenager again’ thing 

either toffee is eclipsa’s husband/ex (globgor got them to meet) or he attempted to date one of the butterflies/had a secret relationship with one of them that sadly didn’t last 

pink magic leans more towards the creative/defensive/healing side of spells, green magic is more destructive/offensive/harmful

funny idea: tom thinking that star and marco are dating and them being oblivious and saying things that only adds more to the 'they're dating' theory pile XD

SVTFOE starts out as a fun light-hearted show. Theres just this tiny thread sticking out: "why exactly are we fighting the monsters?" And they could have ignored it, or gone with the classic "oh, because they are somehow inherently evil". But SVTFOE chooses to pull on that thread. And keep pulling and pulling until the entire premise unravels.

Star is a princess. We all know what that means. It means she wears fancy clothes, has a decadent lifestyle, and has the resources to do anything she desires. It also means she benefits directly from a violent system of oppression that spans generations, fueled by the assumption that her lineage is somehow intrinsically superior to all others.

Most shows would focus on the first part. SVTFOE does too... For the first season or so. And then the questions start. Hey, why do monsters hate us so much? Why do our history books celebrate such one-sided victories? How can I reconcile my understanding of the world with the new knowledge that Buff Frog is a loving, caring father?

And because she's Star Butterfly, she starts fixing things. But at every turn, shes set back. Solutions just lead to new problems. The system fights her at every turn. By the end of the show, she realizes that the only solution is to burn the whole damn thing to the ground.

The show feels a little weird sometimes because it's constantly smashing its own conventions. Its a little rushed because its trying to solve the entirety of colonialism. And it's ending is unsatisfactory because it's actually a brand new beginning for a new story. It's maybe not always executed well, but by god, it's shooting for the fucking moon.

That said, sad that Kelly and Marco broke up off screen. They were fun.

HOT TAKE: I didn’t think Star Vs the Forces of Evil was that bad

Sure, it might’ve had a horrible ending (and final season, according to some videos I watched) but that’s…about it! The most of the show was pretty well done so I find it annoying that people only remember it for it’s shitty ending and even kinda hate it for that

Edit: Btw, if you’re a fan (or a former fan) and was unsatisfied with the ending, just pretend it never existed and read some fanfic that’s a revamp of the series. Hell, I’ve heard there was this ongoing fanfic series that revamps everything from Battle Of Mewni to the end

Star lives in Mewni, a medieval style dimension, Marco lives on Earth, ‘nuff said, Tom lives in the Underworld (Hell), but where does Kelly live? What does it look like? What are her people like? What are their rules? We’re jumping into that dimension right here! (punch!)

*Kelly’s World-Marco comes over to Kelly’s dimension where he planned on making tortas with her like they promised in “The Ponyhead Show!”, but Kelly was too depressed cuz her ex-boyfriend, Tad, won’t stop texting her! Ugh! Last we saw of him was in the last seasons finale where he still didn’t leave Kelly’s hair (RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF BATTLING METEORA!) and Kelly just told him to “live in the f***ing woods!” Well, guess what, he did just that! He’s a “Nester”, some kind of “self-help” therapy he got into and he won’t shut up about it to Kelly thinking she’ll take him back for it. This guy needs bigger help over here😒.

Kelly tells Marco that they’ll just have to spend time together by returning a library book before it’s too late and he was cool with it. Here’s some rules on what goes on in Kelly’s World: Her world is called Woolandia and her species are called Wooletts (punch!), everything’s made of colorful big hair (and sentient) like some kind of Dr.Seuss forest and are used as shields (punch!), her mom is her house! (punch!) Oh! And more importantly, they’re all about fighting! (PUNCH!). Guess what’s why Kelly was so broken about hearing wrestling being fake (hisses through grind teeth and whispers) she’s all about the action! Hence her battle buddy, Jorby, and all the swords!

They stop to read the book which is a karate Woolett version of “Woll Hair Dou” and how there’s a “Dual Mode” they can do together. Tad keeps calling and Kelly gets annoyed, so Marco tells her to just block him. Simple as that! They realize time is running out and rush to the library where they are too late. The penalty for an overdue library book in Woolandia, a full hair cut! Don! Don! Don! WHAT! That’s crazy! The hair is what gives security to the Wooletts and without it, (punch!). 

Marco and Kelly fight off the librarian using the “Dual Mode” and win! Afterwards, we get a Kellco moment of how Kelly isn’t over Tad yet and Marco says he understands cuz hes now developing feelings for “other people”!. The library seems to pick up on this (and it’s not even sentient!) and creates a romantic atmosphere where the two of them agree to be “Break-up Buddies” and help each other get over their crushes while doing romantic things.

Kellco is starting to get real serious here now. I mean, they both like each other, but it’s too soon for them to possibly be together cuz of the whole Tad and Starco thing, but it’s there. Looking back on this ship, Marco and Kelly have grown closer to each other. We were first introduced to Kelly in “Goblin Dogs” where Pony Head hogged up Star to talk to leaving Marco forced to talk to Kelly. In the 6 hours they were in line, Marco confined to Kelly about his relationship to Star and their current problems, she didn’t say anything, but listened to everything, so we know that she knows what’s goin’ on with him and Star. Next was the episode where the whole ship got their name, and how Marco helped Kelly to permanently break-up with Tad. Up side, it (sorta kinda) worked, Down side, it was where Marco realized he liked Star, but was too late cuz of Tomstar. They shared a moment by talking about getting over things and looking at the soul rising together with Marcos hoodie and celebrating his at the moment Birthday. They are dance partners together too in “Monster Bash” and “Stump Day” and Kelly was his plus one at Ruberiot and Fool Dukes wedding! As I said in “The Ponyhead Show!”, Kelly can quickly perk up Marco when he’s upset (snaps) just like that! She’s important to him! If she wasn’t, would she be part of the “Marc-nificent Seven”!? She’s not just a minor character who just hangs out with the main characters! She serves as a purpose for Marcos growth! They have a lot in common too! They like Goblin Dogs, they like to fight, they like swords and they both have trouble with their crushes! We first saw her as “the big haired girl who likes Goblin Dogs, has an on-again-off-again with her boyfriend who loves to fight” and now she’s upgraded to love interest for Marco. Well, she’s not the first! I’m still a Starco shipper, but I’ll explain more in the big episode of “You-know-which”! (punch! K.O!)

I love Kelly’s world, I love the way it looks, I love the way Marco and Kelly are able to get emotional revelations out of each other just by having these long conversations (both here and in Lava Lake Beach).

We wanted the music to be a bit of a 60s laid-back rock throwback, but with some of our usual palette mixed in, to match the visual vibe of the world.
