OUGHFJFK UMM.. OKAY!!

Cleaved AU is a self-indulgent canon-divergent hypothetical rewrite @saik0m0che and I have been working on (passively 💀) since the end of svtfoe s3. but I've always had this sort of idea/concept from mid s2

other than maybe a few minor changes for s1-2, post battle for mewni is straight up where I take the reigns

first of all. Toffee doesn't die.

but star DOES still "kill him" at the end of BFM, it's just that I refuse to let his soul pass on (for unfinished business!)

the premise here takes from s2's emotionally charged magic of star's wand crystal being cleaved apart, to then cleaving her & toffee's souls together. which means they share all of each other's pain haha! so bcuz they're together, you can't kill or crystallize toff since that would harm star

but how? idk man something abt the two of them being in the realm of dying butterfly magic at the same time. something abt how toffee is no longer flesh, only decaying essence. something abt how star sorta died and came back to life just as she saved the realm. he's like a parasite!

I hc he wasn't gonna live long after BFM if star hadn't killed him off anyway. but still :(

not only does this "murderer" have to live with star at the castle (likely in the dungeon first, they'd want to break the bond of their souls), he's missing 90% of his memories — because star brutally obliterated him & he spent a very long time in the magic realm alone chanting the same spell over and over again

on the bright side, eclipsa later finds company in him, even doe he doesn't remember her (but very much trusts her 🥺)

oh yeah he & eclipsa dated in the past and became good friends after (Globgor was the one who introduced them shsghsj)

second. Glossaryck stays dead.

or rather isn't physically there with the main cast. he can't die, he just decided to let things unfold and watch at a distance

he does come around for Meteora's Lesson

rest in pudding is when star & toffee are officially cleaved! she starts asphyxiating from time to time after the funeral scenes and especially while chasing Glossy's "ghost"/reflections. he leads her to a crystallized toffee and THAT'S when they meet again. it also gives me a fun reason to do a parallel scene (redraw lol) of moon & eclipsa

you just KNOW rhombulus is gonna go through the hardest time here and he is my boy <3

lastly, SEPTARSIS!!!

this needs some episode rearranging, but maybe after Butterfly Trap, star & toffee go on a trip to septarsis with yvgeny to find a way to cleave their souls and potentially get toffee's memories back. star introduces herself as Star Johansen since everyone there hates the Butterflys. she sticks with the name from that point on

toffee does regain his memories (but can't recall them all at once, it's a process that takes time) and star is met with the revelation that he & celena were in love, making him her great great grandfather. it's also revealed how toffee managed to make the magic realm decay, and that celena was the one who helped him

oh yeah. other things;

marco pretends he's fine for his friends & family, trying to hide the fact he misses star, so his parents convince him to be the exchange student for once. but since he has dimensional scissors anyway, he visits every 1-2 weeks? not sure abt jarco. long distance? still breakup? ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

he might still be an unofficial squire cause that's for fun

Pony Head CAN get a prosthetic horn. but she actually goes through some kind of character development 😭

Ludo ??? I wanna do something for him I just dunno what. Yvgeny doesn't leave so ???

the Meteora arc ??? is paced better ???

this is ofc mostly s3 as s4 makes me so angry and bored fgshjs,, in the end magic is still "destroyed" and that's how star & toffee are finally free of each other. toffee gets to fight & kill mina while the redemption spell is cast, and he's reunited with celena to peacefully pass on :)

also the MHC aren't killed off nor is "Earthni" a thing 🤮

Guys, I have a confession to make (deep breathe). I.am.selfish! Yes folks, I’m utterly and completely selfish. I care for no one, but myself and my own wants and needs paying disregard to others. It’s mean, I know, BUT I’m not always selfish, I help out when I feel it is necessary. I can be nice and thoughtful to my friends and family (FYI, my dad told me to “Be more selfish!” and that’s the best God damn advice he ever told me, so thank you Daddy!) and even to strangers I meet, but the thing is, I’ve always been trying to live up to peoples high expectations and when that fails, I’m left feeling disappoint :(. So I just say “F*** it!”. I also have a saying, “If it’s not a problem with me, it’s not a problem at all!”. You can’t just let people walk all over you like a carpet! And that’s exactly what Moony here had to learn. Let’s see how she handled it:

*The Ghost of Butterfly Castle-As we saw in “Down by the River”, Moon and River we’re settling into the outdoors all peace and quiet away from Eclipsa and we’re joined by a family of Mewmans, The Maizleys, followed by more Mewmans and soon a whole new society grew from then onwards, “The Yurt People”. However, the calling of queenhood can’t escape from Moon as she’s forced into her authority mode for trying to keep order in her new home with everyone who can’t seem to keep a schedule for anything.

River tells her to just take it easy and not work herself to death like she did before and to just be selfish! Yeah! That’s a good idea, Be more selfish! Moon decides to fix everything by goin’ over to the ruins of Butterfly Castle to fetch her Day Planner despite the rumors that it’s either cursed/haunted. After Season 3’s finale, Eclipsa never bothered to fix it up and just left it to rot making the Monster Temple her new castle instead. This just goes to show how selfish she is by only concerning herself with the monsters. She’s trying though, but like it’s pointed out, Eclipsa only knows her (secondary) people and doesn’t know what she’s doing. Kinda like with Moon, but in reverse. On the way, the village in Mewni is now a squalor with some Mewmans scavenging for goods to live. Yeesh! Does Eclipsa not see this!? Then again, the Mewmans don’t bother to even talk to her.

Moon finds her Day Planner and the Tapestry Room mysteriously stitched up and comes face to face with the ghost! Turns out, it’s Mina Loveberry! Last we saw of her, Meteora sucked out her soul from her rampage! I did wonder what happened to her after that. She’s now guarding the remains of the castle and staying true to her warrior duties as promised by Eclipsas polar opposite mother, the warmonger, Solaria, The Monster Carver. Oh and by the way, she’s the one that tried to “Yada Yada” Eclipsa! And she’s now planning on overthrowing her due to her Pro-Monster rights. Mina wishes to only serve Moon, but Moon tries to talk Mina out of it since she can’t always be a monster hating warrior now that Eclipsas in charge, but she’s too obsessed to listen and goes solo on her mission. In the end, Moon gives her Day Planner to the Mewmans in the Yurt to work it out themselves and just does what her husband told her to do as what my daddy told me to do, “Be more selfish!”. Yup, she just says, “F*** it!” Oh! And btw:

So what may have looked like a friendship moment between Moon and Eclipsa from “Moon Remembers” turned out to be utter complete bull****! Yeah, I know, Moon doesn’t trust Eclipsa and now she’s not even gonna warn her about her possible doom in the likes of single minded warrior Mina Loveberry! Well, Moons not the queen anymore, sooooooooo it’s not her problem! Maybe this’ll be what motivates Eclipsa to finally do something? I mean, from what I saw, Star had been mostly the one to try and get Eclipsa a likability status from the Mewmans by trying to find her assassin (“Yada Yada Berries”), getting everyone to see her good side (“The Ponyhead Show!”) and arranging an alliance with other kingdoms (“Surviving the Spiderbites”) all of which Eclipsa just tagged along not getting involved with anything. She has a total disregard for her own queenhood with responsiblility and action and doesn’t bother to step in and do something for her own self!.................Yea! Tots selfishness there! She was doin’ it before Moon realized it was cool. However, even though we all know Eclipsa is selfish, there are times when she can take a stand when things get too serious and maybe Mina goin’ after her will finally put her in the active role where we’ll have proof that she takes her crown seriously. Mina is WAY too arrogant to just quit monster slaying and she’s only limited to that! I don’t blame her, from The Magic Book of Spells, in Solarias chapter, she was just a peasant girl who volunteered to be an experiment by Solaria to infuse (brainwash) her with Solarias extreme hatred of monsters with her magic to be all an powerful warrior for the Solarian army and thus, Mina Loveberry! (just so you guys know, The Magic Book of Spells that most of us have (like me), was prepping us for the final season and we knew ahead of time what was goin’ on, so I’ll let you guys know when a reference to the book shows up again) Now that that Dark Age is done with, Mina can’t quit her eternal royal duties for war and I highly doubt there’s a redemption for her. Unless of course, there’s a way to break her out of that spell Solaria put on her or if not, just kill her! (shrugs). Hey! We need a new villain in the show! And ironically, it’s a Mewman! But you know what! She’s a racist psycho! So whattaya gonna do!? Good luck with her, Eclipsa!

Season 4: we are moving towards war

I am apparently the only one who like the direction this show is going? There is such a political drama underneath the shipping that overshadows everything in this fandom. Let me explain; 

Season 3 leaned heavily into the idea that "history is written by the victor". It was about propaganda, fear-mongering, and above all, conspiracy. With the high commission  literally writing the history books and branding Eclipsa as evil for hundreds of years. They erased the true rulers of Mewni from history because it did not fit with their narrative - the expansion of butterfly kingdom and the war against monsters. When Eclipsa was recaptured, they had no interest in a just trial, rather wanting to act themselves as judge, jury and executioner against their enemies.

Moon's government was a strong state. It was authoritarian state (as in non-democratic), where the government had control of everything. A classical autocracy like those of the old European kings before democracy took hold. Taken further here, the people of Mewni seems to have little agency of their own - judging by their uselessness when being left to their own devices. 

Season 4 examines what happens when a strong state collapses. What happens when a government with roots and support in the populace (Moon was loved by mewmans) is removed and replaced with a ruler with no support within the populace? Eclipsa does not lead the country, she only holds the crown. She looks inward, focusing on Globgor, on Meteora, or on needing to become stronger magically. 

Meanwhile, settlements are leveled to the earth because of anarchy and looters and people are displaced from their homes by royal decree with no follow-up - no creation of new settlements for those displaced. 

Eclipsa is repeating the mistakes of past queens who chased monsters off their lands. And she is busy combing sandbanks for scraps of magical books. Magic isn’t what helps those people, governing is. 

This new season seems to borrow heavily from racial and cultural conflicts in war-and civil war stricken areas across the world. A weak government that does not hold sufficient control the periphery of the kingdom (anything apart from the closest town), and displaced people looking to other Strongmen (Moon) to keep them safe. 

Refugee camps (the growing camp around Moon and River), anarchy, looters, continuous conflict between races, expropriating homes from people who have lived there for generations, failure of diplomacy that has been strong for generations, a militia loyal to the past ruler attempting to assassinate the new queen. This season has to be moving towards a civil war.  

It shows that having the rightful claim to the throne does not make a good ruler. But neither does having the absolute control that the high commission enjoyed for some time. Politics isn't about who holds the rightful claim to some magic wand or a crown. It's about good governance. Sharing resources between everyone, keeping all people safe, helping those in need of it without forgetting the rest. 

The question is what side the characters will land on. Will Star stay by Eclipsa's side? With the way she is currently ruling, i would doubt it. Will Moon be able to stay out of the conflict?  I don't think it is a coincidence that we see her armour in this episode.

 What about Marco? His relationship with Eclipsa seems to be good, will his monster arm come back into play? 

How will it all end? Democracy? Constitutional monarchy? The country splitting into two? Could Glossaryck be priming Meteora to rule both races as a half-monster/half-mewman queen? Time will tell.

Svtfoe new analisis. 1

And, yes, I am only going to talk about Moon Butterfly and her nemesis Toffee of Septarsis, in part 2. Moontoffee-holic and proud. I promise i’ll be a good person and go a thing at a time so it’s clear, cause i’ll be long as fuck . BTW

Moon Butterfly on “the ghost of Butterfly’s castle”

We start the episode with some fights about laundry organization. Moon takes care of it but more problems show up. Really mewmans are so whiny and unorganised. In due to organize the chore schedule, Moon returns to the old castle to retrieve her old day planner, and OMG it’s all destroyed. 

The worst part. She is not alone. There is someone in the castle that has restored the tapestries. 

Moon’s mommy apparently was famous for her caring nature.

I swear i nearly pee on my pants. Turns out is just a fricking bird, or not...

“Queen Moon, is that you?”

MINA???????WTF??? 

She greets her to the castle. Apparentlty, she has been scaring people out and also farming...yada yada berries. She was the one who put them in Eclipsa’s food

Mina tries to bring down the Queen of Darkness She wants Mewni as Solaria, Eclipsa’s mother, was forging in it. TOTAL MONSTER DESTRUCTION. Moon is, at all mewmans, the true and rightfull queen, and must play the part of leading the anti-monster army

Which she refuses. She did not want war, or the anilihation of monsters. I see her point, is genocide, of course she doen not want it. Mina, outraged and dissapointed, decides to just do it herself all on her own.

After that, Moon just returns home and tells everything to River, declaring her position of not wanting to do anything about it and just let Mina kill Eclipsa.

Like, really. She is not going to move a finger about the matter. She will just lay down and ......

NOTHING

WTF, Moon? You were never this layback and uncaring, you carried a kingdom on your own and were prepared to action, to any cost. That’s why you were willing to kill Meteora in the first place! What’s wrong? Did she really regain all of her memories? Do I recall that she became who she was, the UNDAUNTED QUEEN, after comfronting Toffee?This is exasperating, and now that i think of it, she hasn’t even mentioned him....

Tapestry Room Notes

Just some weird notes i wanted to mention about this scene because i spotted a few mistakes.

Not that they ruin the episode for me cause they really don’t and i only noticed them after, but yeah, i noticed a few mistakes in this scene i feel like mentioning.

Fist off i just wanna say to get this out of the way that i like that we get to see Skywynne, Jushtin, Comet, and Estrella’s tapestries in this scene.

But i think it’s off GLOSS isn’t in these new ones though, because he’s in all the other ones for whatever reason but not these ones and i’m wondering if that was an animation mistake or they forgot to put him in.

Also we see Solaria’s tapestry riiiiighhhtt here:

but they make a big scene of showing it off HERE as mina made her basically a shrine:

Unless solaria has two tapestries that’s a woopsie XDD

Mina was also apparently nice enough to sew eclipsa’s up, even though meteora never destroyed it and mina actively wants to yada yada eclipsa in this episode.

I mean it’s possible it got destroyed in the explosion of the castle but still XD

I almost think it would’ve been a nice detail to have eclipsa’s be the only one that looked ruined.

It nice to see Moon acknowledging the dark history of the Butterfly Kingdom, but at the same time she is partly responsible for allowing the hatred of monsters to continue within Mewni and she is just completely turning her back on all the kingdoms problems.

Granted, I also think Eclipsa needs to pay more attention to her people but I feel like Moon could really help Eclipsa with that, but she is letting her lack of trust in Eclipsa get in the way of the greater issue of giving the people of Mewni a leader who can rule adequately and fairly.
