So, I sat in my car to drive home from work today when I got a really happy surprise. I had just listened to the Heartstopper playlist, before leaving work, so I knew that was the one opened in my Spotify-app. But I wanted to listen to a podcast instead, so I grabbed my phone to change, but no matter how I did it I couldn't pause the music. Then I realized my Spotify-app played a different Baby Queen-song than the one I heard through my car-speakers. Then I looked up to see that I hadn't even turned on Bluetooth-mode on my car stereo - the music came from the radio. Suddenly I screamed for myself "THEY'RE PLAYING BABY QUEEN ON SWEDISH NATIONAL RADIO!"

Oh how the smallest things can make you happy sometimes!❤️🎶

Anyway, as someone who started learning Swedish last year, I am absolutely in love with the language! And rn I can understand pretty much 90% of shows I watch (with the help of Swedish subtitles preferably, bc sometimes it's too quick + the reduction you guys do when speaking). And given that my native language is a romance one, I have found Swedish much easier than German both to learn and to pronounce. I simply love it!

What has helped the most has been that there is a lot of content to consume in the language, podcasts, series, films, radio shows etc. I've not seen this much content for Danish or Norwegian for instance. I spend at least an hour a day immersing myself in this content and it helps a lot!

I think using subtitles is a great way of enjoying shows and learn both pronunciation and spelling. And you might be right about more tv series, programs and postcasts in Swedish. Sweden is quite alot bigger than both Norway and and there is something for everyone. If you like everyday podcasts almost every influencer has one. There are science podcasts, history podcasts, crime podcasts and about every other subject.

I always listen to true crime stuff and I love it. My absolute favorite is P3 Dokumentär which focuses on certain events (crimes, natural disasters, accidents etc that got alot of medial attention.) Most is very swedish based and it can be quite dark and sad sometimes but they also have episode focused on other things such as 9/11 the tsunami in 2004, the holocaust, Chernobyl, the ebola outbreak, the jonestown cult, the genocides in Rwanda and Srebrenica, the attack in the Tokyo subway etc.

These are just ones I remember from the top of my head but there's so much more. They are so well produced and interviews people who were there or in other ways affected by the event.

They can be quite sad though and dark.
