you would have to change so many aspects of DGS to make it function in the modern day BUT you CANNOT change everyone's outfits. i think it should just be a Thing that European Prosecutors Dress Like Vampires

okay AA doesn't perfectly follow irl law BUT the UK has abolished capital punishment and i think it'd be funny if the parallels between athena and kazuma got just that bit more pronounced

Anonymous Witness asked: I've been reading through the questions, and some of it confused me so i'd just like to ask for clarification: 1.) is this zine strictly focused on canon but headcanons are allowed? 2.) all interactions must remain platonic but ships are allowed? sorry if i sound dumb, but some of the answers seem to contradict each other so that got me a little confused, thank you 🫶🏻

This zine is a canonverse zine—the only AUs we are allowing are canon-divergent AUs, such as Mia Fey lives, Attorney Susato, et cetera. Headcanons are absolutely welcome in this project.

If accepted, the piece you submit to the zine should only have platonic relationships. However, your application pieces are allowed to have ships.

thinking more on dgs ghost trick au because i just spend like a full 24 hours drawing art for it technically. because like. unlike in canon asougi would ACTUALLY for realsies dead. and it would take some mega plot contrivances to be able to bring him back. the number one most important part of dgs is watching ryuunosuke and susato accepting asougi’s death and finding their own identities separate from him, bc at the beginning of the game they are both ready to drop their entire lives to help him because kazuma is Just That Kind of Guy. i just don’t think a mia fey situation would be very healthy or appropriate for this gang as opposed to phoenix maya and pearl. and time travel shenanigans allowing us to revive asougi wouldn’t really work either, since it would undermine that concept of ryuu and susato moving on. so i think in this au asougi would have to be truly and permanently dead, which i think would be a super interesting angle to take there. anyway

not that it's an easier beginner instrument than violin, but i do also like the idea of karuma being a flute - i know that's mainly a fey thing in your au but i think it would fit nicely with the theme of 'guy who just got dragged into all this mess plays a woodwind' a la apollo-

wait that's backwards because it would mean kazuma played flute but he was in the mess from the start. so maybe ryuu started on a woodwind (personally think he's dorky enough for oboe) and then switched to violin bc karuma/kazuma/susato? buddy pick your battles

actually i think you’re onto something with ryunosuke pulling an apollo and got dragged into a messy situation and then forced to pick up the violin (once as a substitute for one of kazuma’s concert, twice after kazuma “died”) but then started to discover his potential as a violinist (imagine the angst every time ryu picks up his kazuma’s violin and bow to practice and perform :) )

ryu is a dorky lil guy, i think he would pick something a little unusual but still mainstream enough (oboe is a great choice for him) (also the guy is great at tongue twisters he’s bound to play something that uses his mouth)

I’ve been drawing what is probably the last straight up redraw of one of the manga episodes before I start actually doing something original for awhile, but I decided that I should do a character casting spread. Then I was like, there aren’t enough characters on it so I did a bunch more. I’m basically at a casting rule where except for Von Karma (and maybe Shelly DeKiller) if you are from DGS, you are an adult in this universe, if you are from AA you are a kid, and if you’re from Khura’in or Investigations you are most likely going to be an older kid. I have a whole insane explanation for how Manfred has so many kids with hyphenated names :) I also actually have a whole Taka origin story episode in my head, where Simon doesn’t actually arrive at Themis with him. If you’ve been following my madness you may have notice that Sholmes was originally going to be Franky, but then I realised that he’s way more Daybreak (this is the mission I’m in the middle of drawing) so I kind of decided based on hair for Albert to be ‘Bertie’, but now that I’ve totally caught up on the Manga and have seen some backstory it also kind of makes sense even though Albert isn’t really cynical enough.

Mia Fey and Diego Armando (Pre-Trilogy Era, though the partnership didn't last long due to obvious reasons.)

Maya Fey (took up the role after Mia died, gave it up when she had collapsed due to exhaustion, shortly after Blackquill's conviction) and Simon Blackquill (long, accidental story there. To make it short, Maya lost the ring, Taka found it, you can guess what happens from there. He gave it up to protect the Miraculous during the events of the HAT-1 Launch.)

Hi y'all!

If you didn't know, I've been writing a Great Ace Attorney Pokemon AU on AO3 for a few months now, which is so far just TGAA but with Pokemon scattered about. One of my commenters asked about my other TGAA Pokemon AU, which I mentioned in the notes- specifically it is a Pokemon Legends Arceus AU. I actually have a lot of thoughts about it (unposted, because I am a fanfic author and that is just how things are), so I decided to make a whole Tumblr post talking about it instead of a huge comment. (Check out "Find the Courage To Be Bold" on AO3 of you're interested in my current Pokemon AU :D)

***POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR POKEMON LEGENDS: ARCEUS AND ALL ACE ATTORNEY GAMES BELOW THE CUT***

Pkmn!TGAA is an AU set in the world of TGAA, and follows the TGAA timeline with Pokemon sprinkled throughout. Legends!TGAA is essentially the inverse of that. It takes place in the Pokemon and follows the events of Legends Arceus with TGAA characters. Like most fanfics, it also explores the harsh world of Pokemon with more detail and angst than the base game did.

I've already more-or-less decided everyone's roles, just not quite sure how to do Volo (bc of course). The Galaxy Team is consisted of English characters (besides the sky faller) and can be given roles as seen fit. There are a few specific ones though. Here's a rundown(as of events of the main story):

Klint Van Zieks is the commander of the Galaxy Expedition Team. Barok Van Zieks is the Captain of the Survey Corps. Herlock Sholmes is the Pokemon Professor hired to study the land of Hisui. Iris Van Zieks is very good at crafting, but used it for pranks until Klint got her working as Sholmes's assistant. Gina Lestrade and Maria Gorey are field researchers for the Survey Corps that arrive a few months after the sky faller. Courtney Sithe is the Captain of the Medical Corps. Gregson is the infamous potato mochi man. And, last but not least, Ryunosuke Naruhodo is the 'sky faller' turned 'best member of the Survey Corps.'

Ryunosuke is in fact from the future. He is the child of the DPP protagonist, who befriended Arceus on their travels. They end up passing away, likely from sickness, and Ryuu has a no good time in the foster system. Arceus eventually decides to send Ryuu to Hisui (1) because he needed to send someone from the future and (2) because he has a soft spot for Ryuu because of his parent and wants him to be happier, as a way of honoring their memory.

The clans and Celestica people are consisted of Japanese characters, with some OCs (who are all ancestors Ace Attorney characters). Here is a short rundown of the most important ones (as of events of the main story):

Diamond Clan - Genshin Asogi is the leader. Kazuma Asogi is leader in training, working hard to follow his father's footsteps. Satoru Hosonaga is Wyrdeer's Warden. Haori Murasame is Lilligant's Warden. Soseki Natsume is Basculegion's Warden. Taketsuchi Auchi is Electrode's Warden. Fuyune Kizuki (Athena's ancestor, age 10) is Braviary's Warden.

Pearl Clan - Yujin Mikotoba is the leader. Susato Mikotoba is the heir to his position, and is working hard to follow in her father's footsteps. Aido Nosa (age 10) is Kleavor's Warden. Kyurio Korekuta is Ursaluna's Warden. Kyoko Akutagawa (based on real life Soseki Natsume's wife) is Arcanine's Warden. Thalassa Gramarye (hehehehe she's perfect for it!) is Sneasler's amnesiac Warden. Iyesa Nosa is Avalugg's Warden.

Other - Seishiro Jigoku is an overly friendly Ginkgo Guild merchant. Meyumi Fey (Fey ancestor obvs) is a wise woman living by herself in the Ancient Retreat. I haven't quite decided who tha Misfortune Bandits will be- the two groups so far are Enoch Drebber, Heita Mamemomi, and William Shamspeare, or Egg Ashley Graydon and the Skulkin Brothers.

The timeline is organized based on distance in time from Ryuu's landing on the beach. I'll lay out a basic timeline now:

15 years before Ryuu's arrival, the Galar region sends a small team to Hisui to organize trade with the locals and find land to potentially settle in (all known as the Jubilife Project). Two of said scouts happen to be Klint Van Zieks, an ambitious Pokemon Wielder with his trusty Boltund Balmung, and Anne Sasha, a spy for the person funding the scouting mission posing as a historian. As a part of the political exchange between Galar and the Hisui Clans, a member from each clan is invited to travel the Galar region and learn more about it. The heirs to the respective clans' leadership are chosen- both Genshin and Yujin have recently lost their wives after childbirth, and could benefit from leaving the region for a while. At the same time, Anne Sasha meets Seishirou Jigoku and sparks the man's interest in the legends of Hisui.

Yujin and Genshin head to Galar with some of the scouting party, Klint and Anne Sasha included. They're tense with each other at first, due to the recent clan war, but over the years they become great friends. Klint eagerly acts as their guide as they travel around, and they get quite close. After a few months they stop in Klint's hometown, where they meet his brother Barok, his wife Rosalind, and family friend Herlock Sholmes.

Ten years before Ryuu's arrival, tragedy strikes. Klint's hometown is almost completely destroyed by a Pokemon attack. Klint, Genshin and Yujin are out of town, and Barok, Herlock, and newborn baby Iris are at the town's university, so they make it out alive. Rosalind, many of the townsfolk, and the entire Van Zieks estate for that matter, do not survive the attack. The Hisuians head back to Hisui soon after, and officially become the leaders of their respective clans when they arrive home. Klint rejoins the Jubilife Project with encouragement from the project's sponsor Mael Stronghart. This is also when the space-time rift appears.

Five years before Ryuu's arrival, Jubilife Village is officially founded. The Galaxy Expedition Team is founded to manage the village, and Klint is made the commander. Barok and Iris move to Jubilife, with Barok joining the Security Corps temporarily as the Survey Corps is not yet ready to be founded.

Four years before Ryuu's arrival, Thalassa Gramarye falls out of the rift and is saved by Lady Sneasler. Thalassa is a Battle Master of the Gramarye Magical Emporium, where the troupe puts on magic shows as well as run their battle facility. Her signature Pokemon was Unovan Zoroark. She does not remember any of this due to her head injury. She soon becomes Sneasler's new Warden. She wears her magician's cape, hat, gloves and boots, as well as her bracelet and red scarf, but the rest of her clothes are from the Pearl Clan.

One year before Ryuu's arrival, and the village is in a safe enough state to being work on the next phase of the Jubilife Project: researching the native Pokemon. Barok is made Captain of the Survey Corps and job advertisements are made in Galar. Herlock Sholmes accepts the role of regional professor and moves to Jubilife, although research is stagnant. Barok has to do paperwork, Iris is much too young to be sent out into the field, and Herlock is terrible at catching Pokemon. His Noctowl had to catch herself!

Then, Ryunosuke Naruhodo falls out of the space-time rift and lands on Prelude Beach, marking the start of the main story.

A month before Ryuu's arrival, Maria Gorey and Gina Lestrade accept the job offer of being Survey Corps field researchers, but their ship won't arrive in Hisui for another two months.

( Admittedly the actual writing would be from Ryuu's POV, so a lot of the past stuff wouldn't be brought up until much later, but that's how backstory works I suppose.)

From there things mostly happen in the same way Legends Arceus does, although with some obvious changes. Iris takes Rei/Akari's place as the village master crafter, and Ryuu is the sole Survey Corps field researcher until a month after he arrives. The time between frenzied noble lightning strikes is very long, to allow Ryuu's team to grow stronger. I'd probably skip the main story scenes unless they change dramatically. Also I'd have scenes with Ryuu bonding with everyone in the village, especially Herlock seeing as the man is his new guardian. Thalassa would show up earlier in the story with a newborn Hisuian Zorua, trying to find proper supplies since her clanmates are too afraid of the Zorua to help. The Galaxy Team feel similar, and even resent the little Zorua due to the species' stigma, but Ryuu helps her get what she needs and even ends up adopting the Zorua kit. This of course leads to them bonding, and potential for the iconic Wright-Gramarye Parent child relationship BUT REVERSED. Hell yeah.

There'd be a healthy dose of both fluff and angst as everyone deals with their problems. And Ryuu has a fear of being abandoned due to his trauma after losing his parent, so you bet that exile arc gonna be spicy.

I haven't actually decided what to do with post-game yet, as I mentioned. I do want Jigoku to be the one to open the rift and I want Stronghart to be subtly manipulating him into participating in a bigger scheme. The goal of the Jubilife Project is, after all, to learn more about the legendary Pokemon of Hisui and how to exploit them (because this is Stronghart we're talking about).

Oh yeah it's WW1 AU time

*opens door just a crack* anyone there? okay-

*bangs door open* HI HELLO I AM HYPERFIXATING ON MY OWN FANFIC i do apologize but i am entirely too excited about this

little things that have been implemented since the last update:

edgeworth confirmed! one of miles's ancestors will be a supporting character in the fic. i am aware many people avoid OCs like the plague and you know what, fair, but this is an entirely self indulgent fic and i just want this character to be an edgeworth okay sue me

i may include other OCs, mostly because i was missing a fey/an ayasato in the tgaa games. I've been contemplating the possibility of introducing a fey who is actually a man because we've never met one during the games, to my knowledge, and i think it would be interesting to explore that whole "men ain't shit in kurain" thing, gives so much to work with

after much consideration gina's nickname for susato is going to be sue :) if you have any criticism, sue me :) (yes i will be using this pun. for evil)

i was so happy about all the gay pining i didn't realize i have put some of the characters in the literal line of fire, which means they will be struggling with Capcom-sized doses of trauma. sorry, gina.

particularly gina will be dealing with hypersensitivity to noise, given she was in the trenches; kazuma (the other character who is involved in actual combat) will have problems of his own

the routes and paths each character takes throughout the war are already done! it's been so cool and honestly so educational to refresh my admittedly not wide knowledge about the great war and see what to do with each character. most of the action takes place in europe, with some micronesia peppered in.

for example, naruhodo spends like half of the war in japanese-occupied german micronesia as an interpreter and is later transferred to malta for naval escort missions

then you've got gina who starts off in belgium but moves through that zone to france

you know the drill people are going to move and they're going to meet (because I know if i were the one reading it and people didn't find each other I would be PISSED)

van zieks is going to have a cameo, much to my chagrin, because he's still a centric character yadda yadda yadda. his general absence is nothing personal, really, he'd appear more if i didn't have this many characters to keep track of already and if i wasn't developing an entire fic just for him (stay tuned i *might* get obsessed over that eventually)

i can also hereby declare there is a happy ending everyone! again in another issue of Sunny Writes What She Wants To Read the ending has been determined to be a happy, if slightly bittersweet one. I'm sorry I can't cope with bad endings Merlin destroyed me body and soul

the "nowadays" subplot is coming together quite nicely as well! trucy is going to cry a little but you know what? she deserves to have a good cry. she deserves everything in the world and i am going to make sure it is given to her <3

so far we've got trucy struggling to accept kay's presence in her house (not because she doesn't like kay – she does, she doesn't like the fact she has to share parents), trying not to drown in senior year (which can be tough and, in my experience, may cause breakdowns galore) and coping with apollo's departure at the end of spirit of justice (in this au phoenix told them they were siblings when he was meant to btw, i have always found fairly stupid that he didn't do it more immediately). she's also struggling in general because trucy is a very tragic character and i think she does deserve to have a catharsis and must be allowed to be upset too

so yeah! i am very very happy with my progress and with the results I'm getting this far ^^ i am so EXCITED to write it y'all have no idea

so yeah! that's what we're at! I'm literally so happy I'm sticking omg
