At least we're finally getting the gaming I've been looking for all fucking season
#Survivor#Survivor 43#Should there be 3 idols at final 6 NO#but does it make the strategy hot? Yes#An episode where strategizing takes up the majority of the episode? In this season? Groundbreaking

I think the challenges have been excellent this season. I think the contestants have also been pretty solid. I think the editing and storytelling was meh this season though and felt a bit all over.
#excited for finally#we're having a strong finish#still like a middling season for me tbh#survivor#survivor 43

also please let us see them suffer a bit!!! it's all talk about voting and overhyped challenges. "we've all gotta live together out here" girl where was the living all i saw was frantic headless chicken scrambling about votes. give us petty arguments over camp life! show them being miserable in the rain! where is the struggle! they are breaking the #1 rule of storytelling which is show don't tell, and i'm seeing a lot of telling and very little showing.
i’m BEGGING survivor producers to just go back to the very basics. no advantages that result in nothing and are ridiculous to even activate. go back to 39 days. literally just have normal idols and that’s it. PLEASE
#survivor 43#i am currently watching through old seasons for the first time so i have whiplash from watching the s6 girlies being miserable in the amazo#to seeing them at s43 final tribal on day 26 and they barely look dirty at all#make them work for their water#pleeeeeeeeease#survivor

Star Twinkle Precure watch guide
A list of episodes that let you know which episodes are less interesting and skippable.
I have to say this season was overall very engaging compared to most other Precure seasons; as a result there's not going to be a lot of skips here. The main issue with this season is episode 36, which I'll discuss under the read more (will contain spoilers).
Plot is bolded. Recommended filler (character development or background -oriented) is italicized. Skippable episodes grouped in block quote.
1 — Cure Star
2 — Cure Milky
3 — Taurus Pen (+ Hikaru/Lala development)
4 — Cure Soleil
5 — Cure Selene
6 — Leo Pen (Lala focus)
7 — Repairing Spaceship
8 — Libra Pen (Elena & Prunce focus)
9 — Capricorn Pen (Madoka focus)
10 — Villain powerup (Hikaru focus)
11 — New Finisher (Hikaru focus)
12 — The girls make a movie (Lala/Hikaru focus + Comedic)
13 — Lala goes to school (Lala focus, also good context for the next ep)
14 — Scorpio Pen (Elena focus)
15 — Capricorn Pen + Blue Cat Entrance (Madoka focus)
16 — Madoka’s Archery Finals (Madoka focus) This episode isn’t bad but basically rehashes the same lesson in episode 9 that shows Madoka embracing her friends as her support. Don't worry, she gets a really good episode later.
17 — Virgo Pen (Yuni focus)
18 — Hikaru’s mom the mangaka (Hikaru focus)
19 — Gemini Pen & Planet Rainbow (Yuni focus)
20 — Cure Cosmo
21 — Cure Cosmo part 2 & Aries Pen
22 — Tanabata & Hikaru’s dad (Hikaru focus)
23 — Fuwa Panic (Yuni + Elena focus)
24 — Aquarius Pen (Madoka + Yuni focus)
25 — Festivities (Yuni + Lala focus)
26 — Pajama Party in Space
27 — Water Planet (Yuni + Ayewan focus)
28 — Fixing the Rocket (Elena/Madoka focus)
29 — Cancer Pen part 1 (Lala + Madoka focus)
30 — Cancer Pen part 2 (Lala focus)
31 — Pisces Pen (Hikaru focus)
32 — New Finisher
33 — Fuwa wants to be useful
34 — Elena guides a cactus alien (Elena focus)
35 — Student Council Election (Hikaru focus)
36 — “But Stealing Is Always Bad Even When You Were Stolen From First :(” (Yuni focus) This episode is. Oof. I disagree very much with the politics of it. Check the read more for spoilers and discussion.
37 — Costume Party (Kappard + Lala focus)
38 — Cosmo Twinkle Imagination (Yuni + Ayewan focus)
39 — English Speech Contest (Elena + Tenjo focus)
40 — Milky Twinkle Imagination (Lala + Kappard focus)
41 — Selene Twinkle Imagination (Madoka focus)
42 — Soleil Twinkle Imagination leadup (Elena + Tenjo focus)
43 — Soleil Twinkle Imagination (Elena + Tenjo focus)
44 — Christmas (Covers Elena’s decision for her future + cool fight in the sky)
45 — Star Twinkle Imagination (Hikaru focus)
46 ~ 49 — Finale
Below is reasons for my issues with ep 36: ↓
So this episode unfortunately falls into the pitfalls of false equivalency that we often see in media, namely the idea that if you do something against your oppressors you're as bad as they are. The other issue is that Yuni's whole situation tracks very closely as a metaphor for indigenous survival against colonialism and genocide, which makes this episode even worse. To top it off, we also have a cop character who wants to capture her that is basically posed as morally good because "stealing is bad" is their overall message.
"Stealing is bad" is a moral that you would expect to find in a kid's show for sure, but when paired with the history of genocide it translates terribly.
Recall that:
Yuni's original culture is the only one inhabiting her home planet, which they came to after being chased away from other planets. In other words, they are historically a persecuted minority.
Yuni is the only current survivor of genocide against her planet by colonial forces Notraider (who specifically say they want to take over all planets and milk them for their resources).
The Notraiders (through Ayewan) then stole all of her culture's artifacts and then put them on the black market
The black market is run by the Mafia
Auctions are held for the equivalent of billions of dollars (juu oku in yen), and there are billionaires. Which implies space capitalism and the plundering of other planets in general. Billionaires do not exist without the mass accumulation of wealth, and there are slums mentioned which Yuni donates to.
Yuni's culture's items have been stolen from her people and sold against their will. Yet, for some reason, if she's to steal them back, that's just as bad as the original plundering of her planet. This is simply false equivalence. Hikaru insists that she needs to ask for her items nicely back from the mafia, of all things (if they're the mafia they're in the business of killing people for money. Hikaru, hello?). To further this kids' moral, Yuni is reduced to begging for her culture's item back from the mafia boss, even promising to pay for it. Why should she have to pay for something that he shouldn't even own to begin with? It's just disrespectful on all levels.
Meanwhile, Hikaru, who lives in Japan, is part of a colonialist legacy herself who have similarly stolen land from indigenous people as well as their artifacts. All over the world, in the United States, and in Japan, governments in power have plundered indigenous graves for cultural remains and items and have not returned them despite repeated petitioning from said indigenous groups. Basically, asking nicely in the real world takes forever and forces indigenous groups to jump through 239480 hoops, all the while subjecting them to continuous destruction of their heritage. Yet the violence of them being taken in the first place is never questioned; it is accepted, while indigenous groups are demonized for standing up, trying to protect their lands.
Honestly, this episode was really bad. Its only saving grace is that Yuni says she won't stop traveling to get her items back, though it's unclear if she's planning to ask for them "nicely" back every time. Frankly, she should be allowed to steal them back. The billionaires who paid millions of dollars for the artifacts won't miss the money — the dragon guy sure didn't. Yuni is literally Robin Hood, and she doesn't even amass her own wealth; she takes back her cultural items and donates anything else she takes from rich people to the poor. I'm sorry, but this isn't even morally grey. She's doing everything right. The dog cop character is convinced Yuni needs to be locked up... why? Is this really the best use of the interstellar police forces' time rather than fighting than the Notraiders? It's not like any of them showed up to investigate what happened to Yuni's planet afterwards. She has literally gotten nothing from them and is being demonized for crimes against the market.
Anyway, given that it's a kid's show, at least Yuni's people are restored in the end, and by Ayewan herself as a form of a reparations. Since Ayewan undid everything she did (this would be impossible in real life) and worked to help Yuni's people afterwards, the rest of the Yuni / Ayewan plot gets a pass in my mind (even though that also runs on false equivalence). It's really just this one episode that is a mess because it refuses to deal with the structural oppression that exists and that Yuni is fighting against.
It's a shame, really, since otherwise Star Twinkle is a very solid show whose themes of embracing individuality and difference between people is incredibly powerful. Hikaru herself is great in every other episode other than this one, and wonderfully neurodivergent. So anyway, here's your warning for episode 36. Recommended skip if you don't want to spend your time fuming.

I just finished reading Sawbones serie by Melissa Lenhardt.
It is about a lady surgeon in Far West epoque.
Sawbones
Wrongfully accused of murder, Dr. Catherine Bennett is destined to hang. . . unless she can disappear. With the untamed territory of Colorado as her most likely refuge, she packs her physician's kit and heads West. But even with a new life and name, a female doctor with a bounty on her head can hide for only so long.
Blood Oath
Laura Elliston and William Kindle are on the run-from the Army and from every miscreant in the West eager to claim the $500 bounty for Laura's capture as their own.
But the danger isn't just from those pursuing them.
Laura and Kindle each have demons of their own and a past that won't stay dead. Exhausted, scared, scarred, and surrounded by enemies, neither realizes the greatest danger is yet to come.
Badlands
In Blood Oath Laura's worst fears have been realized: Kindle has been taken into custody and she is once again on the run. The noose awaits her in New York, but Laura is realizing that there are some things worse than death. Finally running out of places to hide, it may be time for Dr. Catherine Bennett to face her past.
Even if I enjoyed this novel, there are few elements that made me upset:
1. I discovered this serie from the last book, Badlands, which is described been sold as “Outlander meets post-Civil War unrest in the conclusion to Melissa Lenhardt's fast-paced historical series.” As a fan of Diana Gabaldon's saga, I consumed both her numerous novels and 7 seasons of TV show, so I was intrigued by this description. Well, the only thing Sawbones saga has in common with Outlander is that they both have a woman surgeon as protagonist and both Claire and Catherine-Laura married their first patient in their new life. Claire and Catherine-Laura have a similar temperament, but I think Claire is more gentle, compassionate and 'motherly', while Chaterine-Laura is driven by ambition and desire to proof her worth to her absent father (deceased before the beginning of the first novel).
2. In Sawbones, the first novel, pride and ambition make Catherine, now under the false name of Laura, reckless. Even if, after her friends in New York staged her death, she agreed to pass as midwife or nurse, and Maureen, her devoted maid who followed her path away from the gallow warned her many times to not declare her profession as surgeon, Laura in the first occasion she got (helping a woman was was giving birth) introduced herself as 'Dr. Elliston'. Even after the caravan Catherine-Laura and Maureen were traveling with has been attacked by 'Indians', she would keep her act as 'Dr. Elliston', driving attention to her practice and at least two main characters understood her true identity. And this happens a lot of times through the novels.
Sawbones, Chapter 43
3. As only survivor Catherine, now Laura, became saved by the Army and excorted in their Fort. She became a sort of local celebrity due to her status as 'Indian attack' s survivor' and even more by saving the life of loyal chivalry Officer, Cpt. William Kindle, who happens to have briefly encountered Catherine during the war. Now it is important to understand how Laura is even more of a jinx than Brianna Randall Fraser (daughter of Jamie and Claire, adopted by Claire's husband)! Basically everyone who find him or herself connect with Laura is doomed to fall over a gruesome ending. As Roger MacKenzie, Brianna's husband, Cpt. Kindle would endure a lot of suffering and loss for love. Honestly, I would tie a line at some point, but Roger and Kindle are a fictional character and their creators have a distorted concept of true love.
4. Rape. Rape. Rape. Whore friends but not sex herself. Even if Laura left a lot of Catherine along her way, she is always a bit reckless and her behavior get the attention of bounty hunters and profiters. Laura, after marrying Kindle, seems to be more keen at left her past as surgeon behind and to agree to pass as midwife. In Blood Oath, Laura decided to turn down her pride and start training young orphan girls as midwifes and nurses, she even took Sophia, a smart 16 years old mulatto girl as a protegee, helping her to become a doctor too. In Badlands, Laura finally admitted how she used to belittle other woman and dismissed to offer of friendship of other women doctors, because she wanted succeed proving herself equal to men.
Badlands, Chapter 7
Badlands, Chapter 16
5. Kindle and Laura aren't a well-suited pair, since Kindle manipulated her and lied a lot to Laura in order to bed her, and doesn't understand her vocation as doctor: Kindle think is a stuff she would left after marriage, argue and threatened to left Laura, because she doesn't want children or cannot have. Kindle is an hypocrite and a obnoxious, judgemental bastard. In Badlands it is revealed that Kindle cheated on her on the first occasion and then acted as HE was jealous of other men. However, the plot involving Kindle risking his life and being condamned for running away from his duty as soldier ended up in some months of detention and a dishonored discharge, which is very limiting, considering the accusation of murders in the previous books.
6. Melissa Lenhardt drive us through three books and the mystery about who murdered Laura's patient and why his wife decided to frame Laura for the crime is solved in less than 100 pages. OK, I know why Laura has been framed for murder: she is an unmarried woman, without any social connection or wealth, and tries to succeed in a world governed by men and their prejudice about gender. Laura is basically an outcast, but this is not an explanation about the difficulty to solve the main mystery of the novel serie! She was an unlucky escape goat to hide powerful people's crimes and her friend James choose career, riches and power over a dear friend. It was the most delusional and disappointing part of the book.

Survivor New Era All-Stars Possible Returnees
I want to be clear that I'm only using people from the new era in this and I'm excluding winners even the ones I like.
Survivor 41
I think that Ricard, Shan and Xander are the biggest locks to return. I'm good with Ricard and Shan, but I'm not sure how I feel about Xander. That man was a goat edited as a final three threat. I still haven't forgiven the editors for 41 yet.
I'd love to see Danny again even if I think his outburst against Jeff will ruin that chance. On the other hand, the fact that he went on the Challenge and won clearly means CBS isn't done with him. Decent chance of Evvie and Tiffany. Somewhat chance of Naseer. Small chance of Liana.
Survivor 42
I feel very strongly that Omar is a lock for any New Era All-Stars returnee. I think he just has to say yes. Apart from that, Hai, Jonathan and Tori all seem like good shots. Don't love Jonathan but the man put in possibly the best group challenge performance of all time (before not winning a single individual to be fair). Drea has a decent chance but rumors of what went down in Ponderosa with her, if true, means that production might not want her to return and if they are true, I agree with them. Mike also had a decent chance, but not sure how well he'd do, although, maybe he'd embrace a cut-throat gameplay style.
Chanelle was put on the Challenge as well so CBS might not be done with her. If they do put her on though, I 100% want them to put on Strunk for the glorious fun of it.
Small chance but Jenny Kim was totally fucked over by everybody else. Please let her play for real.
Survivor 43
From this season, I feel like the strongest chances are Cody, Karla and Jesse.
Cassidy, as said before, was on the Challenge so that might work in her favor. Sami maybe but I doubt it. I'd love to see Owen but again, I doubt it (but Cassidy and Owen on a starting tribe together please). Dwight has an outside shot.
Survivor 44
Similar to Omar, all Carolyn has to do is say yes. After her, Carson is very very close to being a lock. Lauren has a decent chance. One of the two showmance - probably Frannie - might not be bad. Maybe MAYBE Brandon.
Danny (Massa) might have a good shot even if I'm not the biggest fan. I'd love chaos gremlin Maddy Pomilla to return against all hopes but it's unlikely. She'd say yes for sure though.
Survivor 45
So again, I feel like Kaleb and Emily, all they have to do is say yes. Good chance of Kellie, Drew, Austin and I want to say Julie but her edit makes me wonder. Jake has an outside shot. Sabiyah too but when you're that early pre-merge...
What do you all think?

It’s that time again - who are you rooting for to win Survivor 43?? I’m so torn because my head says one thing (and we share a birthday so I have to root for him), but my heart says root for a third girl winner, so it’s tough. But I looooove 4/5 of the final five which I didn’t expect going into this season given how many girls went home early so I’m happy with this season now since I know the one person I don’t like is likely the zero vote getter if he’s in the finale ❤️❤️ (trying to leave this as vague as possible but don’t answer if you haven’t seen the episode yet it was crazyyy)
Survivor spoilers below!
I genuinely like everyone in the final 5! Overall I’m rooting for Jesse the most; his game has been mostly flawless and he’s really likable too (though not the most exciting TV personality). Karla was my overall favorite but she’s been on a downward spiral recently so I think she’s out of the running. I would love a Cassidy win (and she seems like the mostly likely option besides Jesse) but based on the edit she’s playing more of a survival game and not driving any of the moves. I think she wins easily if Jesse goes out in the final 4 though. Owen has no shot imo but I really enjoy him as a person anyway lol. Gabler is my least favorite of the 5 but I still appreciate what he brings to the season. I’ve been liking the season a lot, the pre-merge was really mediocre imo but the post merge (especially the last 3 episodes) has been killer.

Survivor 41, 43-46*
A disclaimer: these are the only seasons I have watched of Survivor, so I have no baggage or expectations from the early era. This is all I know.
(In order of consumption, marked with my order of preference. Mild spoilers but no winners revealed below)
45 (3rd) Its ranking is possibly undeserved, but I'm very fond of it as my first ever season. Austen and Drew were treats, great gameplay and alliance. Down to the wire for the win, and deserved.
46 (4th) Maria and the jury made for terrible television in the finale, absolutely unhinged interrogation. Charlie played a terrific game. Ben was a lot of fun on his own and with Charlie.
44 (1st) The birdcage idol had me questioning until it resulted in a slew of fake idols (could have sworn Carolyn kept the wrong one), which was a thrill. The jury was a treat, and I loved Yam Yam and Carolyn (she made for terrific television).
43 (5th) The final episodes were good and exciting, but they failed to make up for a season otherwise completely absent any admirable gameplay or interesting relationships. Watching backwards meant this season also suffered from sharing all the same challenges with 44. The winner did not play a game worthy of a million dollars, but their use of the money was touching.
41 (2nd) Lots of fun gameplay. Ricard and Xander were great to watch. It spent the season trying new things, which didn't always work or present anything interesting, but overall it was a thrilling season that went down to the wire in an admittedly weird finale.
*In looking up players from a watched season, the winner of 42 was spoiled and the season was consequently skipped on the backwards watch-through.

‘Survivor’: Yam Yam Arocho Reveals Final Pitch Strategy & Why He Couldn’t Vote for Carolyn
[Warning: The following contains MAJOR spoilers for the Survivor Season 44 finale.] Yam Yam Arocho was an early fan favorite from the Survivor Season 44 trailer. From the very first moments shown in the Season 43 finale, viewers knew he would be one to watch. He inspired countless Survivor memes and had one fan so hooked, they tweeted weekly updates on his tribal council fates. “Yamil ‘Yam Yam’…

I have an alarm on my laptop set for every Wednesday at 8pm to remind me to watch Survivor (since I have a bad habit of forgetting the current day of the week). I keep it on year-round because I know once I delete it then I'll never set it again.
Last season I was working a lot of nights that Survivor aired so I didn't watch it. And I've been snoozing the alarm during the last few months of off-season. Plus I snoozed it for all the months between 42 and 43.
Just now when my alarm went off, I almost snoozed it out of habit, before remembering that FINALLY I can watch Survivor again.
#survivor#survivor 44#here's the thing though: hopefully i'll get a new job soon and that will likely mean i will be working evenings again.#so we'll see if i'll get to actually watch the full season as it airs or not

I've been rewatching Survivor (and watching new episodes I haven't seen cause uh, 43 seasons now) and I'm on S2 where Mike passes out and falls into the fire pit and gets horrifically burned and it's just heartbreaking. He's finally gotten pain meds and is telling everyone he loves them so much and they can do this and they're doing great and he's crying and everyone else is crying and just. I did NOT sign up for EMOTIONS with this show, that's the whole reason I'm watching it, lmfaoooo.
