honestly a big thing i like about the discordance is how. surprisingly gentle it is. yes it's (not) a cold and horrifying eldritch language that will kill and mangle you in ways you cannot begin to comprehend. but the discordance story in of itself is... not that. the stewards serve tea and play games with goats and have goofy snowball fights and when you meet the anchoress she's just sitting and talking and it's. nice. for being a place confined to non-existence that's dedicated to studying an extremely dangerous language (that is also not a language), the adulterine castle is distinctly relaxing and freeing in a way i don't think the scoundrel has really ever Experienced before. and they don't know how to handle any of it. and i really like that

Lol ok so it’s reasonable to assume Astarion doesn’t have access to his favored perfume between getting kidnapped and returning to Baldur’s Gate. So imagine Durge (maybe even Tav) who starts to love Astarion’s sent as they grow close to him. Not bergamot, rosemary, and brandy but his actual scent as the remnants of his perfume fades. They’re not sure what it is but it smells like him and becomes comforting to them. Then they start encountering more undead in act two only to have the realization the Astarion smell they love so much is corpse smell.
