Let’s say this: Vaggie topples the rocks on Lute and then Lute forces her way out, ripping her arm in the process. How long will the healing process will take? Will it go faster or slower because of her current heavenly status? Lute is not the type to wait around, she’s all about action.

Isn’t Lucifer technically a hellborn? I know he was with Heaven then turned fallen angel and lives his life in Hell permanently. He was the only person to physically put his hands on Adam. I can see heavenborn/exorcists getting harm physically/ injured but that’s it. I mean Adam was in a bloody mess once Lucifer stopped. Regardless, I hope they answer this in the show but I doubt it 💀

I’m sure they will answer the whole angelic spear touching an exorcist/heavenborn since Adam died because of that.

anyways god that was such a satisfying ending and im VERY pleased, crazy how this season had NO bad ep. incredibly sad this show is over tho. this show has been on my mind constantly for the past three years im so sad to see it go but im also see happy we got to see these characters lives play out in such a beautiful way. sorry for this being essay length i just had a LOT of thoughts about this ep.

i havent seen genloss in like a year so sorry if i get things wrong but i still think about this. also sorgy its so long i got carried away </3

something that really bothers me about genloss [that u may have heard a few times already] is just how. on-the-nose and surface level all the references were?

for example, the bit where ranboo is cutting open charlie. cool conceptually! but awfully executed; it was just a direct reference to saw, toilet and all. and it wasnt even plot relevant, except for the slime = blood thing [which is like 6 seconds of a ~10 minute scene]. all ranboo got from it was a piece from mousetrap, which DID come up later, but that was also filler.

its the same problem i have with the shotgun carousel [which is taken from saw 6], if ranboo really wanted to be creative and make his own unique show, he shouldve made up his own saw trap. i genuinely wouldve liked episode 2 if they did! even if it was bad its still better than directly taking one out of saw and inserting yourself and your friends into it. its just so boring and unimaginative yk? and the worst part of the whole scene is that in the original, the trap is relevant to the main character and is commenting on cruel healthcare policies in the US: the main character set up a policy at his company that would eliminate 2 thirds of people who applied for insurance, so he has to kill 4 out of 6 of his coworkers in the trap. i find it infuriating that ranboo took the trap and even some of the cinematography from the original scene but just completely removed any depth it had and turning it into a "comedy", and remaining oblivious to the message the movie was trying to portray.

new paragraph cuz the last one is long. ranboo just doesnt bother to analyse the media he references and just takes the most surface level ideas and puts them in his weird frankenstein saw trap love letter. i genuinely wouldve respected them more if they were inspired by the analogies created by the traps and how they relate to characters and carrying that same idea into his own characters to give them depth, but he just doesnt bother!! and its so fucking annoying to see!!

and its not like executing references well is all that difficult?? the key thing that makes a reference good is that its irrelevant to the story and its out of the way [imo], like something that goes unmentioned in the background. ranboo couldve done something like putting shots from saw movies in picture frames in the cabin or smthn. still not great, but its less egregious. but naaaahhh lets just rip an entire scene from one of the most famous horror movie franchises and inject repetitive improv into it, thatll be entertaining for half an hour!!

the main problem that arises when referencing media in the way ranboo does is that instead of thinking about how awful the characters must feel, im thinking about saw. i havent even seen saw, and i was thinking about saw. how do you even do that. if he had been creative and wrote his own trap, id be empathising first and thinking about saw second, because its more subtle, and not just a blaring alarm in your face telling you hey did you know that ranboo likes saw. did you know that. now you do!!

thing is its not even the only thing hes referencing, apparently the 1st episode was based on a horror movie called "the cabin in the woods", which is about teenagers who go to a cabin and are made to live out horror clichés, and tbh i wouldnt be surprised if that was ranboos main aim for gen 1; to insert himself and their friends into their fav horror tropes

btw just to make sure i wasnt making up stuff to get mad at i checked how long the carousel scene lasted, and from when ranboo enters the trap room to when he leaves is around 42 minutes. how they thought this was entertaining and worth the audiences time is beyond me

tldr; genloss is fundamentally derivative and ranboo doesnt understand characterisation, referencing or pacing. surpriseeee

take a shot every time i said "saw" and "reference" and you'll only be a fraction as wasted compared to if you took a shot whenever ranboo wastes the audiences time /j

(A nod to Eberwolf being possibly raised by direwolves in canon). Since they were small, it was easier for the Scavengers to train him and take care of him. While Eber doesn’t have a dragon sib group, they consider their Scavenger friends as basically family! Which ties well to his whole Beastkeeping thingy (also, Eber considers Darius as being part of their sib group as well)

Diluc often works late into the night so he was surprised to see you still awake when he got home.

It was an exhausting day at the bar, a fight almost emerged but luckily he stopped it in time.

He was tired and his faced showed it. He was displeased with you being awake, he would scold how unhealthy it was. If you bring up how he himself always stays up late at night, he would facepalm himself and sigh.

"Love, why are you still awake?" He asked

"I couldnt fall asleep, so I figured I'd just read to become sleepy" you replied.

Diluc visibly frowned, not an upset or annoyed frown, more like worried and displeased.

"Hmm, that's not good..." he mumbled. You wanted to say something else, but before you can you felt a pair of strong arms grip your waist. Before you can register what happened, Diluc is already walking to the bedroom with you atop his shoulders.

He plopped you down and soon after changing into sleepwear played down next to you.

"Did you really have to carry me?" You scoff.

"You should rest,love"

"You're unfair, you always stay up late. Why cant I?"

"Its unhealthy" he replied "I'm tired, let's sleep?"

Scara is fast asleep beside you, his slow breath and heartbeat filled the empty night. He looked so peaceful sleeping, you didnt want to wake him but your mouth called him on it's own.

Scara was fairly annoyed when you woke him up in the middle of the night, but had an indifferent look when you told him you cant fall asleep. He acted like he didnt care, he pretended that he was going back to sleep but in reality he couldn't anymore. He stayed still for a few minutes, back facing you 'til he realized you're still awake.

He sat up and rest his back on the headboard. "Cant fall asleep either" he complained. You knew he was lying, but decided you wanted to play along.

"Will you stay awake with me?" You asked.

You only received a grumble from him that made you giggle.

It was quiet for a few moments, comfortable quietness.

It wasnt until he broke the silence "Come on." He stood up from the bed and reached his hand out to you.

"Where are we going?" You question. Before he can answer you've already taken his hand.

"Wow, though you didnt like romantic things?"

He didnt reply and started walking to the balcony. There, the moon was in clear view, the brights stars were spread across the dark blue sky.

While you were admiring the moon, a faint dashing light caught your eye. A shooting star!

"Make a wish" you tell him.

"What should I wish for?"

you came face to face with the glaring face of one of your boys and you immediately turned to him in concern, immediately grasping an arm with the other hand on his cheek to look for any cuts

he rarely comes to you on a normal basis so you thought something was wrong

he didnt care what you were saying, instead heatedly glaring at this new guy, and grunted a response to agreeing with you going to the nurse

just anywhere to get you away from this,,,, stranger

then you were cut off again

from behind you, 5 tol looming figures were running towards you and next thing you knew, you were in the arms of your captain

‘oikawa-san! what are you doing?!’

oikawa held you tightly against his chest and had his arms tightly around your form to prevent you from being taken away

most of the volleyball team were now circling you and pointedly glaring at the poor boy who was so confused that he wasnt bothered by the death glares

‘oh, its you’

kunimi grumbled

‘kunimi, whats happening?’

hitoshi questioned

you fought away from the hold of oikawa and pushed mattsukawa and hanamaki to stand in front of shinsou hitoshi

‘so sorry about this, toshi. i’ll help you with your room later and ill text you when practice is finished, okay?’

you sheepishly smiled and he nodded, his own smile reassuring you

‘yep. ill see you later then’

‘bye’

you softly said and he turned to walk away

but as soon as he was out of sight, you turned around with a grim looking expression and your hands on your hips, a hard look in your eyes

‘boys, what was that?’

you gritted out

‘y/n-chan! don’t you see?! he was going to take you away! he was an intrude-OW!’

he yelped when you reached up and grabbed his ear before grabbing the other closest who was iwaizumi

they both whined and complained about the ear and slapped your hand but you didnt let up

‘he is a friend, oikawa-san. you have no right on who i can be friends and who i can hang out with because i still have a life outside the team!’

you scolded and the others hung their heads low like puppies

‘sorry, y/n-chan’

oikawa mumbled and iwaizumi also mumbled his apology so you let go of them, dusting off your hands

‘and the rest of you, hold back your captain and dont intimidate him like that!’

‘sorry’

you sighed but ruffled their hair before turning to go to class

‘now, be good boys and dont bother others like this again’

they chorused and you nodded, satisfied

you shouted as you walked down the hallway

when you turned a corner, oikawa grabbed kunimi by the arms

‘you know him, dont you? who is he? what class? address? mother’s name? father’s name? age-’

but despite that, iwaizumi looked at the younger, expecting answers as well

kunimi sighed

‘thats shinsou hitoshi from class 1-3. we have gym together’

and ‘we’ was kunimi and you since you were both in the same class so you constantly saw this shinsou boy?

from the looks of it, you were still single and there was a pining from shinso’s part, maybe yours they dont know

and they were going to do everything in their power to keep you away from him

this was excused to them as protecting their manager from someone else and they werent going to let you be taken by someone else

during practice, they grilled you over your relationship with him

‘i honestly dont know why this is your business but if you must know, his adoptive father, aizawa-san, is my mother’s co-worker and i usually catsit for them. dont worry, we’re not dating. just friends, that’s all’

but they know it wasnt just a friendship type of situation

so when the 4 third years saw you being confessed to by this ‘friend’ outside, they almost toppled out the window as they tried to listen to what was being said

no one replied, possibly too upset or too busy sulking

kyoken actually had to be excused outside bc he was glaring at everyone and everything and the teacher and students were so scared that they had to take him out of class

they were even more peeved when you just walked in like nothing happened

you didnt mention the confession to anyone else the whole day and when you entered the gym, it was very tense

the coaches even looked confused

‘did you guys fight?’

you questioned but no one answered

kunimi and kindaichi were playing with a ball and glaring at it as it hit the floor

the 2nd years yes including kyobabie were pouting to the side

the 3rd years looked annoyed and pissed off 

overall just not seijoh babie vibes

you gently said and walked to the captain to figure out what was going on

‘oikawa-san, what happened?’

the seriousness in his voice shocked you and you took a step back in surprise

your expression made him think that you did accept the confession and he scoffed before walking away and doing a jump serve that sounded like a canon blasting

but you were actually confused and surprised that they even knew bc you were sure it was a secluded area where no one could see you

you asked to them and the 3rd years just knitted their eyebrows

‘dont play coy, y/n-chan’

oikawa hissed

‘no matter how many times i flirted or asked you on dates, you never said yes. never agreed or even showed a little bit of interest. on me!! your captain!!! but now!!! this little grape boy comes along and you suddenly start dating just because he has cats! what kinda bias is this?!’

he started ranting and whining and being a brat that you pinched his nose shut

‘oi, oikawa-san, are you jumping to conclusions again? first the hickey accident and now this?’

he made a whining noise for you to let go and rubbed his nose when you finally let go

you turned around to face the others and you sighed, massaging your temples

‘everyone, who spread this misunderstanding?’

no one pointed to anyone but their gazes settled on the thick eyebrow boy that you were sure wouldnt have ratted you out

a noise of surprise and betrayal escaped from you as mattsun quickly scrambled to get everyone to stop staring at him

‘MATTSUN-SAN! YOU-!’

you pointed at him and mattsun rushed forward to grab your hands before holding them close to his chest

‘y/n-chan, we just saw you when we were passing! it was makki who wanted to tell the others!’

the betrayal made iwa laugh but makki ran up to kick mattsun to the side

‘youre the one who committed the deed! i was merely suggesting it! it was iwaizumi who wanted to watch them first!’

‘IWA-SAN!’

you gasped at the normally chill third year and you didnt expect him to be the one who started it first

iwa panicked and held his hands out cautiously

‘y/n-chan, understand that i was just worried and i didnt want you to be outside by yourself after what happened, okay? i didnt know he was confessing to you’

you closed your eyes and pinched the bridge of your nose tightly

‘again! whoever and whatever happens in my love life is my business! mine! and only mine! you cannot control it and get angry at ME because i do want a boyfriend and i do want to experience dating bc i want to know how it feels to be loved like that! so i wont let a bunch of children stop me from having that!’

the third years shared a look before they they gave up and nodded in defeat

but oikawa was the most offended

‘Y/N-CHAN! I ASK YOU ON DATES ALL THE TIME AND I ALWAYS OFFER TO GIVE YOU THAT LOVE SO WHY CAN’T IT BE ME?! WHAT DOES THAT GRAPE HUMANOID HAVE THAT I DONT?!’

he whined and stomped his foot after crossing his arms and a pout on his face

you shook your head, not even bothering to answer that, and went to the others

‘dont be mad and be upset, okay? i refused him bc i have no time for a relationship when im too busy looking after my own boys. i really dont want to add another’

kindaichi and yahaba’s face scrunched as they rushed forward to hug you 

‘we thought you would leave us y/n-chan!’

‘stay as ours forever, okay?’

you were so relieved that they werent as aggressive as the oldests and gave each player their own favorite hugs

but you stopped in front of kyo, not really knowing how to hug him since youve never exactly showed any type of affection like that

so you were just awkwardly standing there with raised arms but he patted your head, you smiling and leaning more to his touch

‘hm, kyo-san, ya finally warming up to me?’

you teased but he scoffed, gently headbutting you with his forehead against yours

‘now, everyone! dont misunderstand and know that for as long as i will be a manager, i wont be in a relationship bc my time as a manager is too crucial since i would probably have to look after you so you dont get yourself to jail. a boyfriend is adding more boys in to that list and i dont want that. you will be my boys forever and i wont be taken from you so please trust on me and stop being so overprotective bc i wont give them the affection or wishes they want!’

oikawa teared up and was about to go trample you but he was held back

‘no! i want a hug! i want a family hug! cmon, iwa-chan!’

practice went by quickly but you demanded them to do 10 diving laps in punishment for all the misunderstandings theyve created 

but they gladly did it bc it meant that you wont be taken from them and you would be theirs forever and their cute manager is going to pay attention to them and them only

i got serious yandere vibes from this but its so heartwarming that theyre so overprotective and lowkey you got yourself a harem

after practice, they all wanted to walk home with you but you told them that shinsou’s house was the other direction

‘y/n-chan! you said you wouldn’t-’

you rolled your eyes

‘oikawa-san, just because i refused that confession doesnt mean i will stop earning money. i still have to catsit for his family and earn my money!’

they only agreed when kyo said that he was walking that way too but they were still weary and jealous bc he got to spend more time with you than them

as you were both walking, you looked up at him

‘kyo-san, what type of hug do you like?’

‘hah?’

he looked down at you bc we short with wide eyes and flushed cheeks

you smiled and looked forward, skipping slightly

‘everyone in the team has their own special hugs. i want everyone to have one bc you all are individually special to me so-’

but he stopped walking and pulled arm before he lifted you up, making you squeak and wrap your legs around his waist

thank god you were wearing your tracksuit and not your skirt

bruh is it obv that kyoken is one of my favorite seijoh boys like bls love on him

he didnt want you to see his flustered expression bc he still has a reputation to uphold, yanno?

so he tucked it in your neck and you softly smiled before playing with the baby hairs at the base of his neck

‘you like this kind then, kyo-san? kinda aggressive but perfectly suits you, yanno?’

he just grunted and you laughed

he wasnt about to tell you that he liked holding you on his arms bc you were so tiny and so you that holding you like this makes him feel like he was protecting you and feel good about himself bc he gets to be the one who shields you from the world

‘so yahaba-san told me that you got kicked out of class bc you scared the teacher and kids?’

you questioned and he left his spot on your neck and pulled his face back so you could clearly see his face

it was red and possibly flustered but you just snickered

he still held you by his strong arms so you were able to move your small hands to his face where he flinched at first but relaxed when you touched his cheeks

your fingers gently pulled the sides of his lips and you tilted your head to the side

‘you,,, look really handsome when you smile, kyo-san’

you whispered and he was so surprised that his tough mask fell and was replaced by wide eyes and his eyebrows rose up, the intimidating look disappearing from his eyes

‘i-i do?’

you bit your lip bc this was so different from the aggressive kyo you knew and you didnt expect this type of innocence that he just showed you

maybe he wasnt so innocent from the fights and arguments he has started or been in 

but he was so innocent to soft touches and compliments bc he wasnt exposed to it, only used to the ones that were said due to the aura he exuded or his looks

‘yep, you do. so keep smiling for me, kay? dont have to be around the others or all the time, but i,,, want to see it sometimes’

he blinked at you but quickly went back to your neck to hide the big smile that was threatening to come out

you felt his lips move and you laughed

‘noooo! kyo-san!!! i want to see your smilee!!! dont hide it!!!’

but it was cut short when a familiar shout was heard from the other side of the street that was near the school

it seemed that oikawa was worried about you walking alone with kyoken so he followed you both with the other third years

‘kyoken-chan! y/n-chan!’

he shouted in betrayal

you were about to get away from kyo’s hold but he tightened his grip and leaned in to place a kiss on your forehead, still staring straight at the captain

‘mine’

again, do you know what happened next?

oikawa screamed

this was actually pretty funny to write bc wowza oikawa is so oikawa and hes just so oikawa-like, yanno? and im still simping over kyoken and shinsou is my ult fave in bnha and i really love him like ugghhhh :’)

JL confronts Marinette

From bio!dad Strange au, where they made her kryptonian to keep her alive. This is post-Hawkmoth (debating using a random and revamping Gabriel altogether tbh)

“Don’t.” Marinette was tired of heroes, tired of being one. She had to handle hawkmoth’s fallout, keeping so many secret identities (hers, JL, miraculus team, her gotham family’s) and she just wanted to sleep.

Flash found her first, but Superman grabbed her and put her in the air for a ‘talk’.

“Don’t what?” She knew superman wasnt a detective. She knew he was a reporter though and she could see baiting and needling just under the surface. He’s an interrigator then, she decided.

“Don’t come in and try to fix what the miraculous team already handled. Paris was abbadonned by your league.”

She figured this was about Ladybug. Paris is always going off the the miraculous holders and ladybugs were always deemed the defacto leaders. She liked that Daesuqa (Talia) took over leading long term missions for the most part, handled meetings and politics so her and Chat and the others could be more like the teens they are in theory.

And everyone knew Marinette was Chat Noir’s favorite after she got how many akumatized people to release their akuma on their own? And that she supplied mirauclous users with kwami food (though it was common for many other civilians). It was common knowledge to all, but Hawkmoth apparently, that if Chat or his miraculous team or the entire team was needed, you went to Marinette.

Superman furrowed his brow at that though. “I didn’t know there was an active team here.”

So it wasn’t about the miraculous or years of magic terrorism her city endured?

“Been here for years. Hawkmoth’s sentencing is in a few hours.”

She hoped it was the kwami’s choice. Tikki murmured that people were surprised by what they could live through, and she is thw kwami of life. Tikki would make him wish he was dead routinely. He deserved it for regualrly slaughtering the city.

“No, that’s...” superman shook his head. “I came here to talk to you about...” he gestures to her then. She didn’t get it until she realized she was floating on her own.

When did he let her go?

“I know you’re Princess.”

Marinette’s blood stopped then. No. He can’t. They can’t.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I know Chloe changed my handle to Princess of Paris a few years ago but indont think heroes can stalk teens for that.”

Good, play into that. Distract until someone you trust can come. She hit an alert on her phone while he wasnt looking.

Pegasus should be here soon.

“I know you know it only as the Chimera project.”

Wrong. It was the surgery that kept her alive.

“And i know you’ve been poisoning yourself to stay hidden.”

Antidotes came from venom. It was fone to ise the stickers, they kept her human. The crystals were for emergencies only.

“What I don’t get is why.”

Why would she want him to kidnap, or abduct her? Take her from her family? Her life?

Don’t show that you’re who he thinks, anvocie whispered. Keep being the Paris Marinette from social media. The savage who snarled Weredad into submission.

“I really think you have the wrong girl. Its listed under my file as a volunteer flyer that i’m a flying meta, like most of the flyers.” Good, keep it up.

“And superman, if I had to guess why some girl that i look like would supress their powers, its becuase this is France and until the Miraculous team came clean about some being meta, you were imprisoned on suspicions of being meta, even infants were, are in the rest of France. Paris is the only place you arent imprisoned for it.”

Superman paled at that. “I. I wasn’t aware.”

“why would you be?”

Superman did respond to that.

“And if this Princess of yours is still hiding, she might be protecting her loved ones. Or maybe she thinks you’d steal her away from her life and home? Everyone knows about the fortress of solitude and i dont think anyone besides you would like living there, especially so far from people.”

Marinette watched him process. As long as Red Robin didnt see her, didnt confirm her identity, she was in the clear.

“Now if you’d excuse me, I’m needed to finish filling out a report on the final battle.”

That had superman’s attention.

“Final battle.”

“Yes, we just took down Hawkmoth a week ago.”

“He already has his trial, in a week.” Disbelief. Not worng either.

“It took the citizens of paris a week to finish voting. Finally tallies come in tonight if we try him as humans or if the kwami—gods of various concepts—are the ones to try him for his crimes. Afterall, he enslaved one kwami and abused another.”

Superman was not doing well, far too pale. Shock? No, they sent so many videos before the JL banned them.

Guilt. Regret, too. Probably.

“Now can you put me down somewhere? I’m not out as a meta and indont plan on being out anytime soon. Any supporting the miraculous teams do have their enemies too, and i dont want to be targetted.”

Superman nodded. Numb? Possible.

She let hersef be taken down.

Pegasus was there, Flash on his way. Another person who could make her.

She had to move fast.

“I hope I cleared things up?”

Superman nodded.

Max was ready to fight, glaring at the blue boyscout.

“Ready to go Miss DC?”

Marinette nodded, letting him guide her to the portal.

Flash didnt make it in, but he didnt see her face either. She’s take the narrow victory.

They exited in the Paris Grande Hotel. The Mayor had Batman and Red Robin with him. Crap.

“Is this...”

“Our civilian contact, Miss DC,” Pegasus stated almost too professionally. Great, now Red would know they know each other as friends. batman too.

“Batman, Red Robin, correct?”

“Yes. We, we just found your heroes videos and came to help. I see we’re too late too.”

Marientte nodded, avioding eye contact with Red. She wasnt sure if he learned to act infront of Batman yet, and wasnt risking it.

“I heard you came up with many of the emergency procedures and built the comms system with Pegasus.”

“As a flyer, yes. As Miss DC I just make sure the team stays fed and Chat doesnt forget to sleep.”

Batman shot Red Robin a look as he said, “I know the feeling.”

Marinette didnt fight the smile then. Yes, that was her Hero Stalker Tim alright.

“Would you two be interested in helping the league develop a better system to sort incoming messages?”

Pegasus moved first. “If we do, Miss DC is to be left alone. Her mother is very atrict about her not getting involved in science, and refuses to believe that her daughter has been actively helping the miraculous team.”

Batman turned his attention to Marinette then. “Is that so?”

Marinette nodded. “My birth father and her left on... terms i never got the jist of. He and his friends teach me in secret. Mama,” not maman, she forced herself to say, “she said something about it being destructive and dangerous, so she wants me to stick to the arts instead.”

Batman nodded. “Experiments can be, but that doesnt undercut the good you’ve done. I’ll tell the league you will work off-site should you accept.”

Marinette nodded along. “I can help where Pegasus gets stuck, and be contacted through him but otherwise would prefer not to be contacted by the League. I’m a civilian, and no offense, but there ahve been leaks before.”

“Understandable. The league thanks you for your help, and apoligizes for what you went through.”

Marinette could feel the hole Red Robin was burning into her. He earings. And the fox miraculous. Shit. He knew.

Marinette wanted to punch the league in their face collectively.

“All May i go now, i have a meeting to get to.”

“Of course.”

Pegasus opened the portal and escorted her out.

They both waited five minites, Max feeding Kaalki, for the call.

“So why didnt you tell me?” Tim was pissed.

“Media blackout. Any time i tried to call it was blocked.”

Tim swore. “Alfred!”

“You are so lucky Pegasus doesnt know anything about gotham.”

“He’s there?”

“I work with him alot.”

“So when you visited Gotham...”

“French government would know. Not hard to connect the dots of girl leaves to see gotham fmaily and suddenly the league shows up after banning all of Paris from contact.”

“I. When did it happen?”

“Before Chrismas. I would have had Nonna tell you but she didnt know either until after the fact and they said if she told anyone itd be me going to jail for her.”

“That’s. What hellscape do you live in?”

“I died so many times i don’t even know now.” She stopped keeping track after she got into the eighties. That wasn’t even a full year into being Ladybug.

“That’s not comforting.”

“Please tell me that you’re not outing me to Bats. I just got two leaguers off my tail.”

“I won’t tell him, but if the new Robin does i’m not stopping him.”

She almost forgot Talia’s son was a Robin. She didnt see him in uniform yet—as Damian (not wayne but damian who was mourning lost family, damian who didnt know how to talk to people his age). She knows he’s a bit thick with social cues, and his detective skills need work in her opinion but he’s skeptical and has good insticts. He might make her as Marinette if he’s there.

“Is he...”

“He’s with the Titans now, but theyre debating coming here to yell at the league.”

“Videoing it?”

“Obviously. Want a copy?”

“Ill make popcorn before watching.”

“Rkc are doing well by the way—stopped a human trafficking ring and i think they took the victims.”

“Harley’s working with them,” marientte got he update earlier. “Hood and zsasz took out the lower and mid tier that woudlnt snitch. The case should be smooth sailing—the sirens put out a blanket hit on anyone trying to touch the witnesses.”

“So managing two teams this whole time,” red murmured, almost... bitter, or disapointed in something—no someone. Himself?

“Just tweaking things. Daesuqa handles most the team since she found me and Chat. Apparently she was compatible enough to do a lot of the non-fighting work. I still did battle strategy and all but,” Marinette shrugged.

“She focused in survival aspects here, and long term stability for Gotham. Daesuqa has handled most of non-kwami work here outside of kwami and candidates,” Max added. “On top of her work as a student and designer and inventor.”

Red Robin groaned. “When do you sleep?”

Marinette hummed. “I have meds to make me. And angry family to make me take them.”

“Her... what are we calling him now?” Mac was asking about Felix, adiren’s gremlin cousin who’s mom isntryign to adopt her. Also a fellow reverse theif and possessive friend.

“Uh, gremlin.”

“Her gremlin calls to let is know if she does get rest on the weekends and we trade off on weekdays.”

Red robin hummed into the phone. “So staying to the shadows?”

Trixx and Tikki looked up at Marinette at that. tikki wanted her to be the Ladybug, the be seen and everywhere and she...

Trixx knew why Marinette liked the shadows and background. Trix understood that bit.

“Yeah, i’ll still play in between and have some kwami things for life now.” She and Chat were working out gaurdian duties still.

She wasnt interested in the JL.

i checked out enhypen’s given-taken too and tbh i was kinda pleasantly surprised. i expected that it would be another in the long line of boy group debuts that had the same sort of vibe and didnt stick in my head at all.... and like... i mean okay, it kinda was............. but it did that better than a few of the other 2020 bg debuts ive heard hahaha. overall, it’s not something i’ll listen to more, probably, but if i check out more stuff from them in the future i’ll go into it with a bit higher expectations than i would for some of the others. again tho, like, i wasnt blown away or anything. i just felt like more of it was working than i was expecting.

i think my favorite 2020 bg rookie is probably cravity, just because i like their song flame. lol. their debut song was alright, but eh. flame’s kinda neat though. shrug.

i dont hate boy groups lol. it’s just that all the boy groups i like were already pretty well established by the time i got into them, and none of the bgs who have debuted in the time that ive been into kpop stand out to me. not really, anyway. or if they do, i just dont happen to be into them. like i would say that a group like txt does stand out, but they just dont really appeal to me. most of the bg debuts i can think of though... dont really stand out to me. theyre all brooding, dark, bland color palettes... or if theyre energetic songs, then the hiphop in them is noisy in a way that doesnt work as well for me as i wouldve wanted it to, lol. i love a good noisy instrumental, but there’s an art to it. it’s not just something you can tack on to an already-complete song. you have to build the song around it right from the get-go. that’s why your average noisy boy group doesnt compare to a group like nct lol. you cant just remove the noise from an nct song and have the song still work, its integral. you could remove the noisy drop from treasure’s debut song though, or tone down the noise in mcnd’s songs, and they wouldnt have changed that much. you can’t de-noise kick it or punch though lmao. it’s an art.

anyway, where’s all the color? where’s the excitement? where’s the catchiness? when i watch some of these bg music videos, i feel like the reaction they want me to have is to be super attracted to these tall, dark, and handsome boys. the song almost feels like an afterthought sometimes. you could cite a lot of examples where that’s not the case, i know, but still, i get that impression from more songs than i should. i just dont tend to get a lot of personality from these songs. or if i do, it’s the same personality as the others lol. the vibe i get from mcnd’s ice age, treasure’s boy, enhypen’s given taken, cravity’s break all the rules, too’s magnolia, etc... like... they all have differences of course, but you know what i mean right? those are along a similar sort of line and aesthetic. i wouldnt necessarily get any of those songs confused for any of the others, but if all i did was listen to those songs over and over, i would probably feel a little claustrophobic. that’s all i’m saying.

compare them with the girl group debuts of 2020. weeekly’s tag me, cignature’s nun nu nan na, aespa’s black mamba, redsquare’s colorfull, secret number’s who dis, and stayc’s so bad... those songs could not be more different. there’s like a little bit of overlap here and there, and you could attribute some of that to just overall trends in kpop in 2020, but for the most part... not only would i not get any of them confused for the others, but listening to those songs back to back gives maybe too wide a range of vibes, like idk if they would even fit together haha. weeekly tag me and aespa black mamba are like polar opposites.

like, i’m not crazy right? it’s not just that i prefer girl groups to boy groups, it’s also that there’s just more diversity in girl groups. right? or am i just blinded by my preconceived notions?
