Surfing is kind of the best, I have found the perfect sport to watch whilst knitting. Each heat is 30 minutes long and often mostly nothing happens so you just get to listen to soothing ocean noises until the commentators start popping off because a good wave has come along. Then you get to look up and see hot people surfing rad waves for a hot sec. A whale just breached in the background of the women’s semifinals? Incredible stuff.

i recently watched a documentary on tonya harding & nancy kerrigan's story and watching it genuinely felt like someone wrote a psychological thriller about class and abuse with really apt metaphors and a well-written morally gray protagonist. but it's not fiction! it's real life! and no doubt the story was adjusted to better fit a linear narrative but even considering that the whole thing is such a cohesive layered story you'd think it was made up by a really good writer. BUT IT'S NOT!!
