her powers are Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V which ironically is exactly Nintendo's game design philosophy
Well, it's finally happened.
Nintendo has finally caught up with the Philips CD-i.
#sure it may make for fun gameplay but idk it also just feels like an uninspired mechanic#i wish they had gone with more restrictions#like sure wizard zelda but let her like learn shit like penis blast or summon ketamine ape#copy paste just feels like nintendo has said... “yawn design the game for us”#which is exactly what they did for totk too and i guess it worked out#but its the kind of mechanic which is fun for a bit but then just doesnt have the same memorable staying power#bc when you are given a limited toolkit you have to work harder to bootstrap solutions & this i firmly believe is more fun long term#like totk at least u only had a limited toolkit of zonai type devices and the fun was in building a contraption for yourself#which was arguably more fun the jankier it was#but for this it feels like itll just be too easy to cheese and as a result wont be as menorable#not to mention that the map seems like its the same map as og zelda which like.#cmon nintendo please i am begging you for new design and innovation not iteration

Horror fan S/O likes scaring others

[ HEADCANONS ] [ Anzu, Junta, Tsukasa, Hijiri ]
[ Romantic Killer ]

I may or may not was inspired by Horrorpedia to write this-- and a little for Hu Tao... ANYWAYS! I had fun doing this, idk it was silly and cute and fun! Well, I hope you like it as much as I did <3
Anzu Hoshino
Despite not being too interested in romance Anzu's feelings for you are sincere, she wouldn't dare to play with your feelings so at the end you two just grow to have a comfortable relationship between both, being not only partners but also best friends!
Anzu is completely obsessed over videogames and even cats and she doesn't even try to hide it, so for you two to be together you have to accept her just the way she is just like she will do it for you too. The fact that you like so much horror doesn’t bother her in the slighest, she respects if and support you on what you like!
Anzu isn't specially interested in horror but will not mind hearing you rant about it or even heard some spooky stories you know, even if she feels slighly nervous and even afraid she will simply laugh at it and playfuly complain about how you just wanted to scare her in purpose, but she doesn't really mind much since for being in a relasionship there is some level of comfort in your presence so she knows that is all innocent fun
Anzu wants to show her support to you she not only heard your stories but also offer to make you company and even play horror games with you, thats way she would convine something you like with something she likes, its a win win! However she gets nervous and scared when playing, being a little messy during the gameplay but at least both have fun
Aside from that Anzu doesn't really like much when you try to scare her because most of the time is effective, she doesn't have a big reaction (unless it has to be with bugs) but still, if is only a story she may be willing to hear it but she doesn't like getting too invested or even be pranked so she just end up asking you yo stop and suggest doing other things that won't scare her as much
Even so, she is actually supportive when you want to scare others, she can see how happy it makes you and as long as you don't go as far as actually bother others and ignore the other's limits and bounduries she sees it as pure fun, she even end up seeing the fun on doing it!
She isn't embarrassed about your tendency to scare others in the slighest so she is openly telling others whenever they ask that if they want to heard a good horror story you know quite some! Also, she may don't remember everything you told her about the stuff you like but some times there are things that it remind her of the stories you have told her or even she finds things that you may like and she always makes sure to take picture and text you about it
Junta Hayami
Despite being quite shy Junta is really loving, he loves seeing you happy and will love to be the one who brings a smile to your lips! He isn't someone who judge, he used to be made fun of for who he was so he would never dare to do something like that to anyone else, let alone the person he loves!
Junta doesn't love horror and scary stuff as much as you do but he is supportive over you! If thats what you like who is he to tell you to don't be yourself? (besides, he is too weak to your smile to tell you no on anything)
If you usually have anything related to creppy stuff or even your favorite stories in your clothes or even accesories he doesn't really mind it much, he won't be ashame or embarrassed if you use it when going out, he actually he things you look adorable wearing anything related to what you like
Junta isn't a big fan of horror but since he knows you like it he started to put more attention to it, if somehow he finds anything that you could like while being outside or even heard about any new story, movie or even a videogames he will take a mental note to be able to tell you once you two see each other again (he doesn't normally remember all the details because he doesn't like when it is too grotesque but he tries)
Also, as much as Junta doesn't like the stories he actually puts a lot of attention to them, even when that end up making him even more scared, it never goes to the point of bringing him nightmares but it does make him a little anxious whenever he finds something that reminds him to one of the latest stories you told him
Junta isn't exactly easy to scare but he can get really scared by certain things or even get so invested in a story that he start to feel chills down his spine, he doesn't get into scary stuff on his own but he is unable to say not to you so most of the time he end up falling right into your pranks or easily get invested in the stories you like to tell, no matter how much he expressed to dislike being scared or how he every time ask you to please don't do it again he always falls in it all over again, but at the end he is just happy to see you happy, as long as you laugh with him and not at him then is fine and it makes being scare all worthy
Junta is stuck between wanting to stop you and wanting to see you having so much fun, he just can't stop you so at the end he just stand up for you whenever you end up scaring others, ofering an apology in your behalf and sometimes even helps you make it up when the other person doesn't react in a good way
As long as you don't truly hurt anyone and mean to have fun with others instead of just causing pain Junta will totally support you and just endure the scary stuff you like so much
Tsukasa Kazuki
Tsukasa has a lot of troubles to let his guard down around anyone, making it incredibly dificult for him to be in a relationship but not imposible, and when he does he slowly grows more comfortable and more affectionate, but from most part he prefers to show love and care indoors, still too anxious outside
Tsukasa isn't really going to judge you for something like your likings, he loves you for who you are so complaining for something like something you like wouldn't be fair, even if he doesn't really get whats the fun on something that is suppoused to make you feel fear he simply let you be and most of the time don't say anything
Since he isn't too interested on it he just doesn't ask you anything about it but will end up accepting to make you company if you want to watch a movie or play a horror videogame, or even to heard any story you will want to tell him but he does it after some insistance and will be quite uncomfortable during it, Tsukasa isn't easy to scare but for the theme of the horror stories there is a chance that he end up getting triggered about his traumatic past experience (wich is what he wants to avoid)
Thats the same reason why he hates whenever you try to scare him, there are things that can trigger him and lead him to have a panic attack and he doesn't not only to avoid that yo happen but also doesn't want you to look at him in that state, he doesn't know if he is ready to talk about it after all, but if you pick the hints (or even after he finally told you about it) you purposely decide to avoid talking or giving deeper details about things that could make him uncomfortable then he would be more at easy and let you give a try to scare him (wich almost never happen but he is happy that you are being considerate with him)
Just as he doesn't really get why you like so much stuff that are suppoused cause you fear and anxiety he doesn't get why you like so much scaring others, he have thought for a while about it but he simply doesn’t get it, even so isn't going to stop you unless you are going too far, as long as is simple and innofensive fun like telling scary stories or small pranks to others is fine (and he simply either look at you from afar or hear your ranting about how much fun you had), but he definetly will call you out if you are stepping on others limits and even starting to be more offensive or even to the point of harrasment, he will not let you just make others uncomfortable for the sake of your joy and will have a serious talk with you
Overall he doesn't understand your liking but it is supportive over it! Tsukasa doesn't enjoy it much but just let you be and, honestly, deep down he is so happy to seeing you so being freely happy and enjoy what you want
Hijiri Koganei
Loving someone with sincerity is quite new for Hijiri and he doesn't really know how to not be blunt, if there is something in his mind he just say it without much care (as long as it isn't embarrasing), and thats also expressed in his way to express love
When he got to know how much you love horror and scary stuff he imediatly calls you childish and weird for liking that stuff but thats just his first impression and don't even thought much in his words before saying it, at the end he will be supportive no matter what but will show it in a not so indirectly way
Hijiri doesn’t understand why you like so much this weird stuff and constantly say it but no matter what he says he is always there hearing your ranting and even buying you stuff that you like (he doesn't really understand much but he tries to remember what you like to find gifts for you, but he will not admit it)
You have to even beg if you want him to company to anything slighly scary, no matter if is only you telling him a story, a movie or even a haunted house it will take too much insistance and making him run out of patience for you to finally convince him because he doesn't really like any of that stuff, he will never accept it but he is easy to scare, although he isn't too obvious with it
Hijiri easily feels anxious and uncomfortable with the suspense and specially with grotesque visuals and yet to keep his reactions at the minimum, shifting his position a little, making a face or even clearing his throat, he is too prideful to admit it and when he find out how much you like scaring others he tries even harder to hide his reactions, he is not going to let you have the satisfaction of his reaction, and if you push enough to try to get a reaction he will get at the defensive and even become angry (wich never last too long but always demands an apology from your part)
When it comes to others he doesn't care much, if you end up scaring the others he would just be relief that you aren't trying to scare him anymore and, at first, he didn't cared at all but with time he would grow a little curious for two reasons, one is that you are having a lot of fun and the second is that this little hobby of yours is taking your attention away from him, wich he doesn't like much, will just lead him to pay a little more attention to your pranks and story tellings
With time Hijiri will start to see how funny it actually is scaring others, he wouldn't do it himself but he is more willing to see you try to scare them or simply heard you talk about your latests pranks (besides, seeing you so happy makes it all worthy). He isn't going to make you apologize to others but if it end up bringing you troubles he will actually step in and try to help you solve the problem, but still without actually offering an apology

hey completely random question for you that you may honestly not even have a answer for but I’m looking for some insight if you have any to spare :))
how do you know when it’s the right time to age up your sims or sim?? I’m currently playing a household so special to me right now but I’m severely stuck in the middle of wanting to age my child sim up to a teen but also not feeling like I should yet??
I’ve been playing a lot more slow and intentional lately so I’m not sure if that’s what’s contributing to feeling like I’m “rushing” if I did?? idk if this makes any sense but thank you for your input anyways <3
hello hello! i'm so sorry for taking so long to answer you! it's totally normal to feel stuck between wanting to move forward with the generation but also feeling like you're rushing things! it can be very tricky (°ー°〃) honestly, there's no right or wrong answer. maybe it's worth pausing to think about ways you could deepen your connection with that sim before moving forward. have you hit the milestones you imagined for them? maybe there's still room to explore their friendships or dive deeper into their personality. are there stories you haven't told yet? like a fun hobby they could discover, or bond with a special family member? i think it's also a matter of if you're having fun with them or not. i've had generations where the child stage was some of the most fun i've had (like with ellie right now), but i've also had sims i aged up just after 4 days because i wasn't enjoying as much. and who is going to force me to play with a sim that im not having fun with just because "i haven't hit all milestones"? NO ONE! there's no such thing as "rushing". your gameplay should feel natural and enjoyable, so if you want to age them up after a few days, just do it!! it's all about what feels right for you and how connected you are to that sim's story! trust your gut!

monthly game tag time!
this is going to be a veryyyyy long post, so buckle in
may
1. Hollow Knight
[played on ps4.]
thoughts: i know i literally just replayed hollow knight back in like, what, last august? but i had a strong urge to play it again and after the shitshow that was my life in march/april, i decided what the hell. i'm probably going to be doing a yearly replay anyway, though i won't hold myself to any kind of strict schedule in regards to that. i'll just play it when i feel like it and keep track of when and how it goes with these posts.
but anyway, on to my thoughts (yes, i still have thoughts on this game lmao): the game is definitely getting easier with every replay, which makes me very very happy. don't get me wrong, there are definitely still plenty of challenging bits (looking at you, trial of the conqueror. bane of my fucking existence -_-), but apparently i've managed to memorize a good chunk of the attack patterns for most of the boss fights. hornet and the mantis lords are the most obvious example of this, as i literally beat both on my first try. which was a tiny bit disappointing, just because those fights are so fun, but also extremely satisfying. literally had me feeling like a pro gamer LMAO
2. Princess Peach: Showtime! (Demo)
[played on nintendo switch.]
thoughts: i've been so excited for this game ever since i saw the first trailer, and the demo certainly didn't disappoint! the two levels you get to play, as swordfighter peach and patisserie peach, were very fun, and just everything from the level designs to the gameplay to, of course, the costumes are so cute. i definitely want to play the full game! ....unfortuanately i've heard the game is actually pretty short overall? supposedly it's around 6-8 hours of playtime, which honestly just seems absolutely ridiculous considering it costs fucking $60 for a game i could (theoretically) knock out in a day but hey, that's nintendo for you 🙃 so, yeah. not entirely sure when or even if i'll get to play the full game. which is a damn shame.
3. Agatha Christie - Murder on the Orient Express (Demo)
[played on nintendo switch.]
thoughts: seems like a fun game! although i will say, it was quite jarring to realize it takes place in the modern day. hercule poirot does not look like a character who should know what a smartphone is, i'm sorry 😂 but yeah, i'm definitely interested in playing more, although i'll probably wait for it to go on sale. i liked it but i don't need to play it right now or anything lol
4. NOX
[played on mobile.]
thoughts: a quick little better-than-average mobile puzzle game. tbh i enjoyed the first half more than the second half. by the end i was just like meh, but i guess i still recommend it if you're looking for a decent puzzle game on mobile
5. Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion
[played on mobile.]
thoughts: i've been wanting to play this for a while, and it did not disappoint! such a fun, silly little game. pretty much my only complaint is that i wish it was longer, but apparently now there's a sequel? so i guess i can always try that! :)
6. Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King (Demo)
[played on nintendo switch.]
thoughts: seemed fun but also the demo was extremely short so idk. i liked the obvious zelda inspiration, but it mainly just reminded me of chrono trigger. honestly i think i'd be more interested in replaying that than in playing this, but who knows. maybe someday!
7. OneShot
[played on pc.]
thoughts: I ABSOLUTELY ADORED THIS GAME!!!!!!!!! everything about it is so beautiful, from the story to the graphics to the soundtrack (which, if you know me at all, i'm a sucker for a good video game ost and this one DOES NOT DISAPPOINT 🥰). i don't want to say too much, because i really think everybody should play this one for themselves, but i will say it is EXTREMELY meta. which is not a spoiler, as you find this out very early on, but again, the less you know the better. so i'll just say this: make sure the name on your computer matches your real name! i believe the game *does* give you the option to input whatever name you want (i'm not 100% sure, but i think so), but i feel like the story will hit harder if you use your real name. plus, if you've changed your name recently but forgot to update the name on your account (like i had), this is at least a good reminder to do so :)
8. Ib
[played on pc.]
thoughts: while i played the remake, i can definitely see why this is a rpg maker horror classic! like honestly, idk what else there is to say about it that other people haven't said already? it's not super long and though it's not pants-shittingly terrifying or anything, it's got a very strong, creepy atmosphere to it. now that i think about it, it actually reminds me a lot of alice in wonderland.... which is such a huge plus to me, you guys don't even know :3 i especially adored the character design, particularly ib who reminds me of one of my oc's <3
9. A Short Hike
[played on nintendo switch.]
thoughts: i want to live in this game <3 seriously, if you're looking for a nice chill game to play this one should be right up your alley! it's not long but i promise it is still so, so worth it. beautiful pixel graphics, lovely soundtrack, and a surprisingly poignant story....yeah i loved this one a lot. my one and only complaint is that the beachstick ball minigame can rot in hell LMAO
june
1. Moonlighter
[played on nintendo switch.]
thoughts: idk about the pc version, but PLEASEEEEEE DO NOT BUY THIS GAME ON THE SWITCH. IT SUCKS ASS. for as enjoyable as the actual gameplay is (which honestly, was not even that fun after the first couple hours), the game is buggy as hell. especially when rolling. do NOT roll near walls, or you risk getting stuck inside them. which is especially annoying inside the dungeons, getting stuck inside a wall on some random floor long before you ever meant to have to leave.... pretty much ruined my whole experience. i could barely even bring myself to finish the game, but i forced myself to do it, because i had been meaning to finish this game for forever, and i just wanted to be DONE with it, and so i did, and i was so SO happy....aaaand then i discovered there was a whole new post-game storyline to play through in new game+. -_- at first i felt obligated to finish that before i could say i completed the game, but after playing a few hours, i just said fuck it. honestly the new game+ stuff wasn't even that bad, but i was just so ready to be done with it by that point. fuck this game. absolutely adorable graphics and a nice soundtrack, but buggy-as-hell gameplay and an anticlimactic story. completed ruined it for me. boo. boooooooo. such a disappointment.
2. Another Code: Recollection (Demo)
[played on nintendo switch.]
thoughts: seems like a very fun game, and i really do want to play the full version! …just not for full price. especially because, after playing the demo, i already had some gripes:
the controls are kind of wonky and by that i mean this just feels like a game that would be better played on pc (yet it's a Switch exclusive).
the (english) voice acting is… definitely not my favorite, to say the least. (that scene of ashley crying as a kid was so fucking annoying, and it went on for wayyyy too long.) ashley does not sound like a 14 year old. which ties into my next point:
okay so i actually FULLY admit this one is mostly on me, but i legit thought ashley was college-age until she explicitly mentioned being 14. like, obviously i understood in retrospect that the story literally said she was 14 long before that (i believe the letter from her father mentioned her 14th birthday?), but because i was pretty tired when i played and also because the character model does not look like a 14 year old girl aside from her being shorter than the adult characters, the voice does not sound like that of a 14 year old, AND she was wearing a university sweatshirt, i thought she was, like, 19-21 and that she for some reason had only recently received her dad's letter? IDK DUDE I'M A LITTLE BIT SLOW 😭
honestly this just kind of made me laugh but i did think it was a bit silly how ashley made a big deal of "yeah sorry D, but i can't help you get your memories back. i've got my own problems. sooooo... yeah, bye." then literally she walks down some stairs, he helps her open a door, and she's immediately like "okay i'll help you and also we're besties, obviously 🤗" like, i'm not saying the game has bad writing (i didn't get to play enough to truly make an accurate judgement) but that felt like the kind of contrived thing i would have written when i was in middle school ngl. but maybe that's the point, since ashley's so young? idk
anyway, i know i've kinda been ragging on it, but like i said, i do still want to play it. the story seems interesting, and i really want to see where it goes! just definitely not for the price of $60 lol
3. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (Demo)
[played on nintendo switch.]
thoughts: it was fun! like a mix between immortals fenyx rising, hades, and trine. all of which are right up my alley! but also i was not very good at the combat, which definitely detracted from the experience a bit. i imagine if i was playing the full game i could eventually get used to the combat, but there just wasn't enough time for me to do that in the demo. but i did like it, and i'll definitely consider picking it up if it ever goes on sale for a more reasonable price.
4. Chants of Sennaar (Demo)
[played on nintendo switch.]
thoughts: i enjoyed it so much i actually bought the game. stay tuned for my thoughts on the full game!
5. Growing Up
[played on pc.]
thoughts: so, full disclosure, i only played through one of the routes in this game (richard). when usually i would play through all the route's (or at least more than one) before counting it as finished, honestly i just cannot be assed this time. which isn't to say it's a bad game! it was a very fun game (at first), with interesting stat-building mechanics. i especially enjoy that my previous character + whoever i ended up with become the parents in a new playthrough. however, despite the fact that i had already started having new events when i started a second playthrough, i don't think the gameplay is interesting enough for me to want to replay it multiple times just to see the new events/meet new characters, at least not any time soon. at the very least i wish there was some kind of carry-over bonus. for example, since my character ended up with richard, maybe my current player character could have a boost in empathy? or intelligence, since my previous character's intelligence was so high. something like that.
also the parents sucked, they had nothing to do with anything unless they were giving me their stupid parent expectations goals, which got really annoying by high school age because the goals often took up desperately needed schedule slots. also especially bitter because literally right after i had completed a goal of tutoring 10 times in a row, they gave me a goal of helping out some neighbors (aka buying groceries ten times in a row) and when i had my character be like "will i get paid?" stupid fucking idiot dad was like "omfg why are you so selfish??? 😤" BITCH I JUST TOOK UP A BUNCH OF MY VALUABLE SCHEDULE SLOTS TO DO TUTORING FOR ONE OF YOUR STUPID FUCKASS GOALS????? KYS YOU ANNOYING BITCH OMFG
6. Harmony: The Fall of Reverie (Demo)
[played on nintendo switch.]
thoughts: of the few (spoiler-free) reviews i've seen, reactions seem kind of mixed overall, but personally i really enjoyed what i got to play! the art is beautiful and the game mechanic of the augural is definitely unique and interesting. unless the story really starts to branch out though, i don't see there being much replayability; which makes me just a tad reluctant to buy it, even on sale, especially seeing as it's apparently only ~10 hours long. speaking of, i am VERY surprised the demo is as long as it is. hard to put it into hours, since i'm a slow reader, but you get to play 2 out of 5 chapters, i believe?? it certainly got me hooked and invested in the story, but that also just seems crazy, letting you play that much in the demo. so i guess, taking all of this into account, i think i'll just wait for a really good sale. like, i do want to eventually see where the story goes, but not for more than $10 lol
7. AI: The Somnium Files (Demo)
[played on nintendo switch.]
thoughts: seems like a fun game, but also kind of weird. one of the characters blew up a balloon to comical size and the main character's response was something like "i wish your boobs were that big" whshgsjsjlskdj ???????? still planning to play it eventually lmfao but i'm gonna play it on pc. definitely seems like a game that's better on pc
8. Chants of Sennaar
[played on nintendo switch.]
thoughts: ah, what a fun game, and such a beautiful artstyle too (it actually reminded me a lot of sable!); however, while i did really like the game overall, i will say that— as with most people who have played both games— i can't help but compare this against heaven's vault and, personally, even with all the issues i had with it, heaven's vault is definitely the better game in my eyes. while i wouldn't say the translation mechanics in this game are at all easy, it was easier than in heaven's vault. in this game, all you really had to do was match the right glyphs to the right pictures. which, obviously was often a challenge, don't get me wrong, but it was at least somewhat easier than i originally thought it would be: i thought i had to get my guess at the translation right too, but that part of it mainly seems to be so you can remember what the glyph means (or approximately what it means) before you actually verify it. so that was a little disappointing, although it certainly helped make things easier in the long run. which turned out to be a good thing that was actually a bad thing, because i'm not gonna lie, i played the majority of the game over the course of a single day. this was not a good idea (obviously), because it resulted in sleep-deprivation and me hurting my wrists/palms from holding the Switch for so long. clearly this was my own fault, but it did still detract from the experience, unfortunately. the inability to fully concentrate really kept me from fully immersing myself in the latter half of the game, which is likely why the ending fell a tiny bit flat for me. also, i have to mention. there was one puzzle i had to look up a guide for how to solve it, and even now i still don't get it and idk if i ever will. so, i'm kind of bitter about that 😭 but yeah, i don't want to keep ragging on the game, because overall it was great! definitely worth the hype imo. and if the core game mechanics of translating made-up languages sounds fun to you, i definitely recommend checking this one out! just maybe remember to take breaks and get some sleep so that you don't ruin your own experience like i did mine :/
9. The Roottrees are Dead
[played on pc.]
thoughts: if you like mysteries, difficult puzzles, or even just family drama, this is the game for you! it's actually been compared to the likes of return of the obra dinn and the case of the golden idol, and that definitely holds up imo. not in terms of graphics, but just in that you are given a mystery that you need to solve (or an extensive family tree that you need to fill out, in this case) and the game does not hold your hand. i will say, although it's been a while since i played either return of the obra dinn or the case of the golden idol, i think this game was definitely easier than those two (shorter, too). but it was still very rewarding! like i said, it was easier, not easy. honestly i really hope this game gains some traction, because we definitely need more difficult mystery puzzle games like it!!!!
10. Unpacking
[played on pc.]
thoughts: don't really have much to say except that it was a nice chill game 👍
11. Tunic
[played on nintendo switch.]
thoughts: i actually started this soon after chants of sennaar, but i finished it last (the roottrees are dead and unpacking serving as breathers). i really REALLY liked this game at first. it was different than i thought it was going to be, but i was still enjoying the challenge even when i wasn't, you know? aaaaand then i kind of hated it, because certain parts of the puzzle you have to solve in order to achieve the true end were extremely frustrating and overly convoluted imo. but overall, after seeing the end credits you get after the true end, i think i left off on a good note. at the very least i would definitely recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a difficult challenge not just in terms of combat, but in solving deep intricate puzzles as well <3
started but not finished yet:
Sea of Stars (Demo) - started in june. won't be finishing, but only because i decided to buy the full game!
Neo: The World Ends With You (Demo) - started in june. won't be finishing, because the gameplay just seemed a bit monotonous.
Paleo Pines (Demo) - started in june. won't be finishing, because the artstyle was not very appealing to me.
Tangle Tower (Demo) - started in june. won't be finishing, but only because i think i'd prefer to play it on pc.
Who's Lila - started in june. probably won't be finishing, because it just didn't seem like the game for me. which sucks, because i had been looking forward to playing it for a while :(

i have eeped, woken up and cried
I have some thoughts. MW3 spoilers below.
Major thing out of the way; everyone is gonna experience the campaign at different lengths depending on skill and difficulty they choose. I started around 9/10pm and finished at 5am, so it took me quite some time, predominantly with issues in the Weapons Free missions and the Ally AI just never backing me up? Felt a lil like Rudy in the Ghost Team mission yknow?
But it was a fun experience in gameplay standpoint. There was elements of both MW and MWII alongside some new things that I still gotta get used to once MP drops. But story wise?
Something felt weird. Like it wasn't as consise as MWII with its storytelling. All that took, what? A few days? Maybe even weeks to come to completion. With this game, bar the flashback mission, I never knew how closely related each mission was unless it was explicitly clear, like Passenger and the mission with Farah inspecting the debris. You know that was only hours apart from one another.
Characters also felt a little odd. Like there was moments where it felt like yeah, these are the crew I know and others where it's like....who am I listening to right now? There was just an air of tension with it all, and yes with who they were dealing with ofc there's tension...but idk again the flow wasn't there like the other two games.
Okay elephant in the room; Soap and Makarov. The amount of times Soap was on the verge of whipping out his pistol or knife and just ending it and no one letting him? If Makarov was such a major threat; sometimes the information he may or may not have had just isn't worth it. Thousands would be alive if Johnny was just let loose and take out the trash. But because he wasn't he's now dead.
And Makarov lives. What the fuck, Activision? Infinity Ward? Fucking Sledgehammer?! What was the point of killing off someone who they know damn well is beloved in the fandom (yes, he died in the OG but hear me out) as is his actor, let the baddie get away, and then just....end it with the 141 spreading his ashes. No revenge for Soap, no honouring what he wanted from the beGINNING, no nothing. Just somewhat dull words from the team, his ashes spread and roll credits.
It's giving rushed story for no fucking reason. I wouldn't be so mad if they just did something after that. Sure, one could say this is them building up to MWIV but it also could have been dealt with one more mission. It truly feels like a slap to the face for the fans, cause we know OG Soap's death was agonising but it had its resolution with Price honouring his men.
If this was the second game then it would also make more sense, build up to the conclusion. But no, this was what most of us expected to be the big finale of Makarov and this current story of Modern Warfare, and it wasn't. Just more prolonged waiting that they're probably going to rush to get out next year. It's truly a shame on the big trio working on this game, but also towards the new fans and in my eyes, Neil too. This was his big break in sorts and it's clear by fan interaction he loves being Soap. I'm glad he seems to be the main protagonist of Zombies which makes me hope he'll be in more things or some pre campaign things but damn. Imagine getting the role of a beloved character, giving them an incredible performance just to be shot point blank and given a dull ending. That would make me feel betrayed but ofc I won't speak for Neil, I have 0 clue how he feels on all this. Hell he could be all for it. Just...truly sucks from a fans perspective.
One final thing is the questions and confusion that ig are open ended because whoop de doo another game, more cash for Activision. For starters; who was the 'Shadow' giving Makarov intel? Was it supposed to be Shepard? Considering he was kidnapped and all that would make sense, but Makarov specifically said Shadow. In my eyes if he had meant Shepard, he would have said US Official or something.
Speaking of Shadows; why did Graves sell him out? What's he gonna gain from that? A redemption arc? Fuck that shit I didn't spend almost two hours fighting the tank for him to come back and be all "am sowwy"
Was Urzikstan truly cleared of any wrong doing or is it one of those things where it's like "Welp it's one General's word against our opinions". Also not to get into irl things but seeing some of the stuff during the Passenger mission had me thinking of how the world is currently with certain ongoing fights. Sometimes COD gets the realism down.
Maybe it was because of the situation they were in and how big the threat was, but there wasn't much of a dynamic going on with the teams. At most, there was some Soap and Ghost banter, and then Graves with his Shadows but that was kinda it. No idle chatter just head in the game type of deal. Does make sense ofc but maybe that's why the characters really felt off at times.
One that's just a personal thing; since it's confirmed that at least in 2019, Price, Soap and Ghost knew one another, makes sense cause the trio were SAS, but it's got me thinking why is Ghost the only one allowed to call him Johnny? It was teased in MWII with the interaction in Prison Break but...it's not been elaborated on. Even Price, when Soap was losing his shit over Makarov in the Heli, called him John.
What did Ghost do or say that Soap decided he could allow him to call him Johnny? This isn't anyway me asking "OooOO, are they fruity???" no I'm curious. If it was a thing he allowed his superiors that he was friendly with to say, then Price would be included that. Alejandro and Rudy would be included. What makes Ghost so special?
The last thing that my grief riddled mind can think of is where is Soap's family? I don't think I can truly believe he doesn't have one. It's canon he joined because of his cousin so...why was the 141 the ones to spread his ashes? Again it could have been his wish and all...shit just also adds to the rushed story feeling. I ain't asking for the MacTavishs to make an appearance or be canon or whatever but as someone who has a loved ones ashes, the small urn you get would have made more sense. That they decided with the ashes his family gave them to throw them off the cliffside in what I assume is Scotland.
If he didn't have family then holy shit it makes his death even more hurtful but no way impactful.
I'm just rambling angrly now so I'll stop my thoughts. Overall the game was fun, interesting concept with the Weapons Free missions but the story was lackluster compared to the previous games, as well as a slap to the face for Soap's character. It was just there for the sake of sadness.
I wasn't expecting a happy ending, I was just hoping for a honourable conclusion.
#rambles to the void#cod mwiii#cod mw3#cod mwiii spoilers#cod mw3 spoilers#this is all just a vent instead of a reflection over things#im also just not really up for debating how the game was paced or if some found it fine or whatever#im too tired for it#im just putting out my feelings#also was it worth the 100 quid?#no#70 maybe for vault#but not 100#if there's a 4th I'm not doing vault edition until well later in its release if at all

okayyyy i finally finished the main wuwa story. thoughts (brain dump) below, obviously spoilers so read at your own risk
acts 5 and 6 definitely >>>>>>>>>>>>>> the others. idk if it's because i had digested the world building a bit more by then but they felt way more engaging than the previous acts
partly because all the interesting parties (for me) were finally here. the black shores, jiyan's whole deal. scar was the most interesting of the previous acts but honestly idrgaf about him aksdjflads
dude was not even RELEVANT in these acts they really meant it when they put his ass in jail
i am quite interested in the black shores, hope to see more of them
otherwise just having to do everything with the starter group was boring as hell especially since they all have extremely flat characterizations (yangyang particularly. WHY did she of all people have to be our token partner).
disclaimer, i don't exactly hate yangyang but in general it just feels so unrealistically forced how her and chixia immediately treat mc like their best friend. we barely know each other. i think this is the part that got last-minute rewritten to make them overbearingly nice and it really shows (?? correct me if i'm wrong. idk if it's specifically those two who got rewritten)
i play in the mandarin dub btw. because apparently that's critical for yangyang ajdflkjf
as for the other characters. aalto and encore are so funny together, absolutely loved them. just their characters alone doing their whole comedy routine made act 5 a lot of fun
act 6 was obviously the climax, and i enjoyed it for what it is, but i also felt like it dragged on? like. you'd THINK after we meet up with jiyan we'd immediately go confront the threnodian like asap? they keep spouting how "time is of the essence" but hold on we gotta do all these sidequests?? repair shit?? come on yall LMAO
like the part where we're coming up with our "battle strategy" (which lol. yeah the ranged units should probably attack from a range. only the greatest tactical minds could come up with this) HONESTLY they should have black screened that shit or summarized it in like a few sentences. that was so ?????????? why am i even here.
ofc the cannon thing or whatever is out of power mortefi. of course it is.
i was enjoying act 6 pretty much until this part. then i was like really. REALLY we gotta do all this first I WANT TO GO FIGHT THE BOSS NOWWWWW
idk it just felt like they hyped us up almost immediately for a final battle but then edged us on for forever? the pacing felt weirdly backwards if you know what i mean
i was also just laughing at how concerned they were about the disrupter missing its target. like. you guys are aiming at a giant ball on the horizon you gotta be trying REALLY hard to miss this. the cutscene that showed how small the cannon was in comparison to the force field did not help adjksflasd. maybe if they were talking about the other 2 shots then sure.
once the cannon was repaired and that was over and our 4-man team was finally on their way i was back into it though
really really loved the pulling mechanic thing
however it was just another strike in which i've noticed that this game tends to overexplain some of the gameplay. that pulling mechanic was definitely one thing, the whole "battle strategy" part was another, and the one with the library in one of the previous acts was HORRENDOUS they may as well have reached out of the computer screen and held my hand
literally the only time i respected yangyang was when she decided to stay behind to hold off the enemies. bc istg if she was the one we had to do the final boss with. god. lord. hold me back from the violence i would have committed.
boss battle was a lot of fun. got my ass kicked by threnodian bc i couldn't read its moves but they made it easy to not die 👍
the little. pet thing. that eats the big echos. sooooooo unserious HAHAHAHA AJSDKLJFALD. i'm not going to think about it too hard.
was kind of weird to end that on a montage through a story teller. like i was expecting SOME sort of epilogue but it really went "yup. that's over! go play the rest of the game now"
anyways. despite my grievances i had fun with it HAHA 👍👍👍
i really enjoyed that it did cycle through a lot of story-relevant characters to trial with. it helps that i find all of them super fun to play and it helps keep things super immersive (although i did miss my girl danjin)
a similar thing i really loved was how involved almost every single playable character was
in general a detail i really like is that npcs/playable characters battle alongside you (even in the overworld) - it really makes it feel more immersive and you're part of a team, not just solo'ing everything by yourself
although it was also too early in the story for me to feel. much about everyone helping us out in the beginning. like i literally don't even know yuanwu??? the power ranger shot with everyone felt kinda silly as a result adjklajdfs
i also enjoyed the switching pov with jiyan. in the same vein as above it makes it feel more immersive and far less like the entire world revolves around the mc (although that's the plot device wuwa is desperately clinging onto here lol)
on that note. in general this whole story i'm just like. not really sold with the way literally everyone is so obsessed with mc its just like yeah you're PROBABLY that amazing resonator from way back when and i have a feeling a couple of these characters might have known them from before they lost their memories (esp scar?) but it just feels. very super ultra forced in a way i don't really like
but apparently that's what they're gonna use to drive the story and i can't expect them to rewrite all this (again? lol) so it is what it is i guess *shrugs*
the mc's fame will be less in your face as the story progresses and they actually DO more things. but right now its like. we just woke up and everyone is so obsessed with us lol can we have literally anybody who doesn't care or is like. this sure is fucking weird huh. for a world constantly in turmoil y'all sure are very trusting of this random person with amnesia
mc in general just feels really flat. yangyang being the token partner doesn't help because she is equally as flat. damn maybe we really do need paimon
oh also another detail that kind of bothered me. when we were talking with jinhsi early on there was a dialogue option to ask "have you found jue yet?" while EVERYONE is standing there. i thought this was a secret thing people aren't supposed to know about??? we're just talking about secrets out in the open like this?
what else. i liked the the jiyan and geshu lin phantom confrontation 👍 but it does feel like they're really leaning into the "yeah geshu lin was 99% in the wrong here and that 1% is gonna be jiyan's inner turmoil" and i was kind of hoping it'd be more complex than that
anyways if you read through all that props to you 👍

I'm really looking forward to playing Baldur's Gate 3.
Like, it's gonna be my first D&D style game and with how long I've been meaning to get into D&D, I'm really excited about it. And the fact that it has so many options that actually affect your gameplay experience seems super fun, but it's also super scary ngl XD
Like, in most games that I played, what you choose doesn't affect the overall outcome of the story and even when it does, there are usually like idk 3 endings at best, so the way they seem to be going with bg3, from what I understand at least, and how your choices affect the story so much and I think even which companions stay with you (I wasn't that focused on what they were saying tbh, was waiting for the "bear scene" XD) , it's already feeling a bit overwhelming. At least, for someone who's so new to the genre.
Again, I like that your actions and choices have consequences, it's fun, exciting but still a bit overwhelming.
Especially when the 2 characters I liked the most seem to be like complete opposites. Although, with the way I'd probably play my character, at least based on how I did in the EA, they're gonna be "a good person", so while this doesn't seem like it's gonna be a problem for Halsin (who I still can't believe that he's actually gonna be romancable, like YESSSSS!!!), Astarion might prove a little more difficult, with how much that stupid wet cat of a man disapproved of my choices XD (I honestly don't remember if I still got him for the romance scene despite that). Like, for once I'm leaning more to the "I can fix him, I can make him better" side because it would just make things easier for me (Because as much as I personally love villains and bad guys, I really can't choose the "bad" options in games even if I want to lol) and it would be good character development for him, some may find it boring but I think it'd be kinda sweet.
This is like my main concern about all the options (silly I know, but I just want all my faves in one playthrough), aside from the "I want to make sure I get a sort of a good ending" thing.
I know the game isn't even out yet and I'm probably over thinking and over complicating things, but I really hope, with how much effort and thought were put into this game, they would've accounted for such a possible playstyle? Especially from how popular Halsin and Astarion seem to be. And if I can romance them together, it would be even better, simply because it'll save me from having to do more than 1 one playthrough XD
I know it's all about replaying the game and choosing all the different options and the rp and how you get certain things based on your race and class and stuff, but I kinda get bored easily if I have to repeat things.
Maaaan, this turned out waaaaaaaay longer than I thought it would be, can you tell that I'm pretty excited about this game? Lol
And please note that I know next to nothing about D&D lore so if anyone knows where I can learn at least the basic stuff, preferably videos, please let me know!!

Hungery >3<
They dont seem to lose their meter points when they sleep, despite what ive heard(im not sure what they were experiencing or maybe if they set the time wrong) which is a plus! They go to bed at a good time too, i think it was 8? Or maybe 9 and idr when they woke up >< i was at work hehe
I like that the games have 3 difficulties, and i think there's like 6 games so its p cool i think :3
Also this device is huge, like its bigger than i thought it would be and i knew it was a pretty big vpet from the get go >< but thats a good thing. that coupled with the buttons on the side and not the bottom make it feel like its a little game console and it has such good ergonomic feel >< at least for my hands lol i have small hands tho ><

I love the look of it soo much aaa it looks like a mermaid perfume bottle <3 also the speaker holes on the back make a little character! Thats adorable and such a fun detail <3
I can def make my own faceplates too, my friend can scan them and put the scan in his cricut thingie and make some or smth like that hehe ^^; i dont remember the specifics ><
Also.. the gimmick... <3 i love it! I love ocean and underwater sooo much lol and subnautica is my fav fav game so i love anything underwater <3 i love that it has liquid in it, tho mine looks like it has less than some of the old vids ive seen, and that makes me worry that it will all evaporate in a couple years. which will suck bc it cant be refilled but it wont change gameplay at all so i wont mind. besides, its just another state of wear and tear for it, and its another sign of it being well loved <3 to be loved is to be changed <3
Also it has some kind of gyroscope or accelerometer or something(idk the specifics of the insides of this particular device) so it senses the angle its being held at(upright, tilted left or right, and upside down) and i love that bc i love extra features in pets however inefficient they may be ><
Also on the topic of wear and tear and signs of love, my other vpet(one of my top 3 favs) my motchimaruzu kitty, has a lot of signs of love >< the case of the device is a squishy(like the bread squishies in Barnes and noble) and shaped like a kitty, and the paws nose and cheeks are the buttons. The case can be taken off so that it doesn't get messed up(if u squish it a lot the printing comes off and the spongey material starts to degrade) but like. Its part of the experience. The squishy is PART of it, and i want the whole experience, plus i dont mind the signs of damage/love bc its like. To be loved is to be changed, ive always believed this even before i knew the words for it. Not that im shaming anyone who takes the case off bc i get it, its a collector thing, but i keep it on most of the time personally!

I saw your ramattra piece on tiktok and you popped up on my recommended here- that piece is so *chefs kiss*
This game may be burning in hell and making me miserable but boy is that art ever CRISP- I feel like you captured a sense of vengeance while also having this sick rendering style - idk. Not to be embarrassing to a stranger but your art slaps severely.
THANK YOU 💕💕💕
While yeah the game is kind of shitting the bed at the moment, the actual gameplay itself has never really been what im interested in when it comes to overwatch, that would be lore and the characters for sure. Just something about how the lack of elaboration on characters stories (while a bit disappointing) also leaves A TON up to the imagination and that is where I feel like I have the most fun tbh, you can really get creative you know?
#I’m verryyy hyped for more talon content coming next season tho#calling it now! sigma will make an appearance or AT LEAST a mention

how would the boss rematches for the NID bosses even go anyway, and i guess some of them would need reworking to incorporate something interesting
best i can think of for puffy is a longer course given the similarity between her and donbalon
for gillwing, not only is his body length doubled, but he now has spikes on his chin, forcing nights to paraloop him [not sure about the instakill though]
oh and they all could do with those masks too, maybe when the fight is done nights destroys the masks, and with them destroys the ideya captures [the yellow ideya captures dissolve with wizeman's dispellment alone]
[btw about the nodes in the last ask i may have worded that part poorly, but the idea of having more time to explore the dreamworlds on foot sounds like a prospect, i just wanted the gameplay to be the same as the original while still treating the ideya as macguffins]
Interesting question! I am not good with game mechanics lol
Okay so. If you can't pull off the tail trick, it takes, like, 21 successful hits iirc to take down Gillwing. Doubling the tail, armoring the face, and removing the paraloop insta-kill would honestly be too cruel. Honestly, I'd just give the big guy a fireball ability, something like the one from the Nightmare Zone DLC for Sonic Lost World, or maybe a dash phase where he chomps at you two or three times in quick succession? Alternatively: Monster Hunter his ass. I wanna hit a big dragon frog with a big sword and make adorable frog-themed armor.
Donbalon's fight is straight-up a redux of Puffy's at a somewhat harder-to-parse angle. Just giving her a longer hallway doesn't really strike me as interesting, but I don't know what else I'd do for her. Either the opera theme could be played up with some sort of sound-based attack, or the mansion itself could be played up into a more labyrinthine area. Make that house a home, y'know?
Gulpo and Clawz I REALLY don't know. Gulpo's whole thing is setting traps, and realistically they'd just have the big fish set More Traps...I do think a charged up chomp move or a little plasma ball might be fine. Or maybe some kind of net trap that slows you down, and THEN an attack if you're stuck in it. Again, though, at a loss for this guy.
And then the whole point of Clawz is to break those fireworks before they go off and grab the bastard quick. Realistically they'd just add more fireworks, but I'd like to maybe see something done with Clawz's apparent speed – maybe a grapple like Reala has in NiD or IF DONE WELL. MAYBE. some kinda quick time event, maybe you hit him as a counterattack. idk
Jackle, maybe his tarot cards could have effects now, or he can use some of the knickknacks around his arena, like the guillotine and the jack-in-the-box. Probably would make decent obstacles.
Reala needs to be a mirror match. Explosive dodgeball just isn't satisfying enough, I need to personally throttle him. Doing something more with the grapple/power struggle thing he occasionally does might be fun but realistically his ass is getting paralooped IMMEDIATELY. I don't mind him having some kind of fire power either though, but...feels weird. NiGHTS and Reala are supposed to be equals, but NiGHTS doesn't summon anything like that...
I don't know what I would do for the Wize Guy™️ but at this point the big bastard just needs a different fight altogether. He's a pushover in NiD and he's even more of one in JoD despite requiring the gimmick masks. Even utilizing those it remains far too similar visually and mechanically to NiD's fight; Bellbridge overall suffers this same way. Also I don't think the persona system really...needed to exist, aside from swimming it's almost entirely useless in JoD. The dragon and rocket exist solely for two specific bosses and a couple of collectibles. And visually personas on each of the bosses I think would feel very cluttered. It already works poorly on Reala's face, hiding the W shape of his cowl in JoD; and Puffy already has a mask as well...I think their designs will still read just fine without adding anything like that.
TBH most of the JoD rematches really weren't harder, just...more tedious. I didn't even use the rocket persona for Cerberus at first and still got away with a passable rank before I figured it out – unless you're going for an A-rank, every boss in the game is kind of a pushover. Bomamba was the most annoying since that fight is a physics puzzle that requires you to be fairly steady and there's a million things getting shot at you, but even then, like. Sometimes the cats just get dropped directly into the hell pits, which is nice.
Also RE: the nodes; I'll be real, my very first assumption was that they were to do what the Ideya Captures were already designed to do – they already hold up your progression and require blue chips to break down, if you run out of fly time without breaking 'em, you have to break it as Elliot or Claris, and until you manage that NiGHTS will be in the palace lookin' very "sounds like a skill issue." about it. The thing that make me reconsider my initial reading was you mentioning having to break those TO dualize lol. So your wording was probably fine, I just overthought it! (This happens to me often.)

archiving my thoughts on sonic 06 with some light revisions since I'm hoping to abandon twitter now :)
Sonic's campaign:
I finally beat Sonic's campaign. Did I enjo- no. Not at all. This was absolute ass. It felt like torture. I forced myself to do this out of curiosity. The last cutscene was nice but Jason is so bleh as Sonic he took me out of it. Elise and Sonic had a good relationship but the rest of the story was dumb, the gameplay was either boring or frustrating, and honestly the only redeeming qualities were the music and the story being laughably bad. So I give Sonic's campaign a 1.5/10, although that could change depending on the other campaigns
Shadow's story:
Just beat shadows campaign. I think past me summed it up well. This was better than Sonics campaign, but in the same way where I'd rather get punched in the face instead of getting punched in the balls. There's no mach speed and no level quite hits the low of Sonic's Kingdom Valley, but overall this just wasn't fun. It was less frustrating and more boring, which honestly I'd take in a heartbeat. Also I don't see why people rave about his characterization in this game so much. Like yeah that sure was how shadow the hedgehog would react in this moment. Nothing groundbreaking, idk why people lose their shit over it all the time. The story is still weak as fuck, mephiles is an awful villian with no presence, and the voice acting is very meh. I'd give it a 2.5/10 overall. Better than Sonic's but not by much.
Silver's Campaign:
I just beat silvers campaign and holy shit he is the best one by FARRRRRR. Sure, silver is slower in a speed platformer, but because 06 controls so awfully the slower speed actually helps the game feel, plus his hover helps how bad mid-air movement feels. And his levels are all fun! The ball puzzle genuinely didn't give me any issues somehow so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it's fine lmao. This is still sonic 06, so it's not amazing, but I actually had some fun. 5/10. I might play some of these levels again one day. Onto Last Story!
Last Story/Final Thoughts:
Unfortunately the energy from Silvers campaign didn't carry over. End of the World is rage inducing making you use all of the broken characters that aren't fun to control, and the final boss is boring, but functional at the very least. On its own that gets a 3/10. As for the game itself, Sonic 06 is like the kid who fails every exam. Like you can tell he's trying but it's just disappointing yet expected at a certain point. Everything good in this game would be SO much better if you experienced it in any other Sonic game. The only thing this game has going for it is Silver's Campaign, which isn't even that good, it's just relatively better than the rest imo. All of this leads to me just feeling like I wanted to play any other game in this franchise, and it just made me feel like i was slowly decending into madness. I'm glad I played it, even if just to give myself the experience, but outside of a few levels from Silver's campaign I never wanna touch this game again. This is the 2nd biggest exercise in frustration I've ever had, and I'm not exactly chomping at the bit to play it. Onto the story. It's terrible. Aside from Silver, who may just be my favorite Sonic character now, this whole game just has awful writing. When they try to pull emotional moments at the end, they didn't land bc I didn't care. Sonic dying is actually the dumbest fucking part of this game. His death scene literally made me cackle the first time I saw it. Frontiers ending pre-update 3 handles this better, and that was rushed beyond belief. Every part of this story thats "good" is, once again, better in any other sonic game. People rave about Shadows writing but honestly it's only slightly above sonics, and way worse than silvers. It may sound like I'm trying to be contrarin but this is seriously how I feel. But TLDR, Sonic 06 is one of the most dreadful experiences I've ever had. I was begging it to end by the time I reached the end of sonics campaign, but instead it dragged itself out for 2 more tedious campaigns, an ending that underwhelmed more than frontiers, a shitty final boss, and made me never wanna touch my 360 again. 3.5/10. The only reason it's not lower is because of Silvers campaign, and the music. Never again

I FINALLY beat Sacred Stones! :D
The "finally" is bcs the first time I played I literally set it down in the final chapter and just. never didn't pick it back up for like a year, at which point I was better fire emblem player so the idea of picking up a year-old savefile was abhorrent.
THEN, in the past year I've had two different software difficulties with it that led to losing save files. So yeah, the difficulty of finishing was not game difficulty, but software, including my own brainpower.
I'd been bashing my head against several maddening mode runs of Three Houses - since there are so many save slots I've got a run going for each of the four paths, and I'm not far on any of them - and finally got fed up and decided to see what I could salvage of my SS savedata.
The answer was not nothing, and...I honestly can't tell if this is an easier game than Blazing Blade or not; it might just seem that way because this time I was extremely cavalier (lol) about sending my units into danger...and I found out they could handle it. I think I used to just assume a magic unit had a more-than-50% chance of getting hit by a physical attacker and that a physical attack would shave off at least a third of their health, and the reality is very much not that. If you've trained your units, they're pretty tanky.
The first time I played through, I lots Vanessa in an early map and wasn't willing to restart it for her, and then didn't recruit Amelia when she threw herself into battle against one of my units and died before I could recruit her...so this time I was determined to not let any unit die, that's just my playstyle that's what I like, that and getting the supports I want adds a layer of challenge to some otherwise easier games.
And BOY HOWDY was Vanessa my MVP this time around. I think I did the same thing with Florina in my most recent Blazing Blade playthrough, insisted I'd make a good pegasus knight and damn, they do get good...although Vanessa promoted to a wyvern knight so not sure if that's a point in favor of pegasi? Anyway. Talk about a tank, I feel I really redeemed myself for letting her die the first time.
I went in the first time interested in the relationship between Ephraim and Lyon, knowing little about Eirika and kind of resenting that I had to start with her...and then by the time it got to picking a twin to follow I picked her instantly, even knowing Ephraim apparently accomplishes more story-wise in his route. I find Ephraim kinda boring, which I think is a consequence of splitting the protagonists like that, and Lyon...Lyon is honestly the second purple-haired softboi I thought was going to be my favorite and then was just kinda...idk. too soft. underbaked. Radiant Dawn fans @me if you know where I'm going with this.
(My real purple-haired softboi love is Knoll, idk why and I don't care, he's extremely disillusioned and sad and tired and resigned and I love him)
Anyway Eirika is in my top 3 favorite FE protagonists list, she's just probably my favorite version of a standard FE protagonist alongside Eliwood. I might like Eirika even a little more personality-wise but Eliwood's in my favorite game and I love him a lot so eh, I don't have to pick a winner.
So yeah, Sacred Stones is going to slot in very solidly at #4 for my favorite FE game ever. Blazing Blade just hit the exact right balance of gameplay and story for me, and Path of Radiance and Three Houses I think managed to both tell good and complex stories with excellent writing while also being fun to play (I'm so sorry Genealogy fans I'm a weak baby scrublord and I can't finish that game I know it has good writing but also it is more cynical I k n o w it's good I'm not arguing that I just cAN'T--)
Ahem. Anyway...oh yeah also the reason I was trying so hard at 3H maddening is...I finally have a hardmode-classic cleared savefile on 3H! :D
I think I may have beating Verdant Wind on that mode, but I don't have that savedata anymore so I can't check. Anyway I cleared hard/classic Azure Moon with these rules: no new game+ (so no bonus statue restoration, I think that was mechanic that let you buy things like support and weapons and professor levels so none of that either), no items from sources other than base-level gameplay (with possible exceptions, we'll get to that) so no under-the-bed items, nothing from amiibo gazebo, and no spirits of the fallen (I just played with online turned off), and no abyss resources other than the students (so no exchanging renown for items that the statue...honestly I don't even know what else is down there, I never used any of it even on easy mode, but yeah I defo didn't use it this time).
So the things I did allow myself were recruiting the Ashen Wolves (Yuri is basically always my dancer now and I always train up Constance so they can pass that paralogue and get Yuri's relic), and then stuff like Constance's quest to get the roster that allows you to to redo an answer once per teaparty, Aelfric's flower quest, the two Ashen Wolves paralogues, etc, all those things were allowed. Pouring exp into other students, esp the Ashen Wolves since they're available so early on, means sacrificing exp for your house's students, which means a harder Hunting by Daybreak, so I figured it was a fair tradeoff.
So yeah that was really fun. Glad to have both a hard/classic 3H and Sacred Stones savefile finally under my belt. What's next?
I honestly tried to start New Mystery and uh. ran into trouble getting it to. work. Will work on that more. Hilariously I saw there was a mod to minimize Kris's involvement, but I shan't be using that, bcs literally my main mission statement is to find out how annoying Kris actually is. I haven't beaten Shadow Dragon yet (the version of Marth's story that I've actually played), but I've gotten quite a ways in, and that really is the danger zone for me. I really do enjoy the early parts of Fire Emblem games more, when all the level-ups and unit potential and support-conversations-if-that's-a-thing haven't been decided yet. But I also like actually finishing!
So yeah I wanna start New Mystery, and finish Shadow Dragon. Then I've got a Binding Blade run that's like 2 years old at this point that I'll probably return to since that games...less fun to slog through...Shadows of Valentia I never finish, idk if I'd restart that or pick up my now like...three or four year old run of that...might fuck around and start Thracia...and might take another stab and Genealogy chapter 4 and see how I do. I won't ever get back to Radiant Dawn unless I can successfully transfer savedata from Path of Radiance, and at this point for me that means actually getting through Path of Radiance from the start again...which as I'm saying it actually sounds like a lot of fun. I might...I might actually do that. We'll see.
SO YEAH that's my Fire Emblem diary for today. I truly adore this franchise. I think there might be a lot of other jrpgs I might like for their story, but this mix of story and turn-based strategy is just absolutely perfect for me. I've noticed I've done well in irl board games in the past couple years, and it's definintely bcs of these games. I thought I'd be bad at strategy to the point of never enjoying these games unless they were on easiest-possible mode, but now I love the challenge! And yeah the fact that even tho in broad strokes the endings will always be the same, I adore the little things you can affect along the way (mostly who your best units are and which pairs make it to A-support). I may not have loved Engage, but there're still a bunch of great FE games in the back-catalogue for me to experience for the first time or have a new fun run of. Excited!

destiny has had a long road in trying to get it right and to be quite real with you, you can can see the monetization hurting the narrative strength. but early destiny you have that no season, expansion only drops -- base game, two expansions. But they realized wait that's a bit much for us, let's do only one annual expansion. It's been years so I may be misremembering but I think it's in the last half of year 5 they implemented the seasonal model, at this point you're getting at least 4 quarterly story updates, including the first of year big expansion drop. We are in year 10, and this year they've transferred to "episodes" that have three acts per season, but one episode has had all the story release on the opening week of the act, and another has had the story blocked out and advanced weekly. It's clear they aren't sure how to best do this as of now, what the best way to release narrative is when that's what you're using as a hook to get people logging in weekly (people do not like logging into a game weekly for tedium, which is what this often feels like without story). This is a huge tangent to just say: live service storytelling is another fucking world over, and it takes iterations upon iterations to try to find the model that best works for the developers and the audience together.
I have never played 14 final fantasy so can't compare them but I thought this was not weekly storytelling? No idea 😂 If not this is where bw would start in terms of emulation, but with anthem, idk, to me, it seems like they wanted a stab at the destiny pie, and if they thought to push live service into da, a then trilogy that had no business being such, I feel like these dinguses could easily push for seasonal models and the extreme version of that has narrative also tied up in weekly release. And considering the general difficulty of the engine apparently like, idk, to have continuous releases of something that is it 3/4? (inq, Andromeda, and anthem) titles released with bugs, two of which killed the release (well. Anthem was. Anthem lol) like....that's like 15 years with the engine and yet only was DA4 not a buggy (or in inquisition's case we forgive a looot of visual goofs and clipping and general silliness lol) mess....idk...maybe just like maybe ummm they would struggle to create a seamless experience at even shorter intervals while still making it complex enough to be compelling and robust enough to justify the continuous play of.
To succeed as an MMO, you need a fun/interesting (depending on the player lol, also I suppose in fairness tragically /addictive is core to certain service games) gameplay loop, and ideally that's accompanied by a compelling narrative. Bioware always *did* have a great writing track record but we've seen how they've invested in their writers, so do we have faith they can get recurrent players based on pumping out what would probably be decreasing quality (based on the gaider comment about being hostile.... we've seen them basically all fired in the last ~2.5yrs) releases in much tighter timeframes? Okay so then we've gotta rely on excellent I am talking top tier gameplay loops, cause you're trying to steal someone from another MMO most likely, so how do we beat what's available if story hooks aren't gonna do it? Well, let's see what they have in their games and oh....oh cool, it's fetch quests. That's what we rely on to beef up the games. Go here and collect/eliminate that. Hate to break it to em, but if that's all ya got, you need the compelling and interesting story hooks to get you through it. Which they often succeed at in their single player games, true enough, but they also often miss, so at scale and on a deadline, I'm going to guess they uhhhhh would mostly miss. Do we have faith they can invent interesting and fun gameplay loops that involve something other than fetch quests? I'm not sure boss. You'd have to be willing to let em cook, which you can't do if you're on a live service clock, and DONT have the kinda guaranteed fallback of something else (like SWTOR was previously). Let me tell you, I do not have faith this leadership can segue into live service lol and frankly, these developers shouldn't have to!!! It's not what the studio does!!!! Single player games are SO worthwhile!
It's clear they wanted to bank on dragon age as a *setting* without any appreciation for any other fact of the matter, not the least of which being that dragon age as a GAME franchise not just a setting is predicated on *exclusive* world states that *cannot* co-exist with another player's as would be the case in a live service title. The larger issue of stupid tech and business bros wanting Line Go Up infinite growth is a late stage capitalist issue but holy shit, endless subscriptions to everything is just NOT gonna work out for these morons! It needs to be a *justifiable purchase* why the hell am I gonna pay for a shit game over and over? I'm just not gonna buy it to begin with brother 🫡
disrespectfully, you genuinely have to not be a gamer to misunderstand so deeply what "shared world states" being in demand looks like, within context. if you want to make dragon age online, you need to do that OUTSIDE of the single player games (final fantasy, elder scrolls are both good examples, fallout maybe? didn't play that MMO 😂). you cannot just turn a thing into the exact opposite of what it is. and if you want to make destiny? then make it. and look, they tried! no one liked anthem. at ALL. bc that storytelling is just NOT a bw strongsuit! weekly storytelling is another beast. if you are going for only expansion drops, then you either need to have a remarkable enough story to bring people back in after they break or you need to have a good enough gameplay loop that people want to log back in (ideally, both). I have not once ever in my life heard a person say they loved a bw game for the gameplay, not ever. It's always "I love the characters" and "the world was very interesting" and "choices matter, which makes me feel satisfied and interested in replaying", and if anything, it is often the case at least for dragon age I would hear a lot of like, it's enduring the gameplay *because* the story is so good you'll just deal with a game you don't think is very fun or at the very least just not your general style.
now, people love playing together. this is just true, always gonna be. but "multiplayer" need not mean "live service" and this is a Certified Original Gamer Fact. I have never played elden ring or bloodborne or dark souls or whatever (in my mind those are all the same game, idk) but I know you can have people in your world that interact with you, either generously or nefariously. They could go that route, and maybe it could be interesting to, if allowed, have other players interact with your world and possibly alter NPC states or location states, or maybe instead bc maybe there's just assholes who murder Teagan over and over again before I get to flirt with him, you could just allow visitors. It could be relatively cosmetic like an animal crossing, or you could allow story interactions as well, like what baldur's gate 3 recently did. In the latter case, the online hosted/local mult players get to pursue dialogue interactions with companions (and thus, romances) so long as 1P the host isn't interacting with them. They advance in story with you, but they are like, ghosts ya know, like, they can't just pick up that character and then roll with it. They're there with you when you're both available but otherwise 1P is playing as usual while 2-4P are just stored in camp, waiting to be controlled by a person again. But unless I'm misremembering 2-4P cannot take these characters into a separate game....idk it's been like a year I can't remember but you get the point!!!!
THIS model, an online multiplayer model with co-op play is what I think they could have success pursuing and NOT the narrative live service model!! That is just NOT their bag! And if they wanna lock in and make it so then fine but they gotta appreciate that getting that formula right is *significantly* more difficult and it could easily be a decade plus before they really see any real progress. And when they're apparently hostile to writing, like, I'm sorry, but that DOES matter, both in long term live service models and one-time single (possibly with fun co-op multiplayer option) player titles. If you're not investing in your writers and allowing them freedom to tell the story they need to tell and instead ONLY banking on "good/fun/engaging" gameplay and then forcing writers to write around that, at a more rapid pace no less with live service, you're going to end up with a product that frankly, will fall off. Especially for this studio because wtf gameplay loops are we looking at??!?! What fun gameplay mechanics too??? The most interesting thing they ever did was a rivalry/friendship system but that requires investment in binary (at minimum) pathed companion writing, so we only ever saw it the once, with DA2, the ever humble goat, because this game was developed in like 18 months or some shit and they NEEDED to rely on GOOD writing to make a robust and still replayable game! And it fucking SLAPS.
Meanwhile compare it to DA4 which had, in its final incarnation a slightly longer by like a year dev cycle though ultimately it was *ten years*, but this time, the focus is on "gameplay". Bc that's what we play dragon age for 🙄 And how did this one fair? The worst they've ever done. And it's basically bugless! But there is NO replayability, and your choices *do not matter* so there needed to be strength in the companion or at the very least narrative/plot writing... And it just doesn't get there. It feels like it's 10% of what it should be. We only see people in two modes: kinda sad maybe but mostly tired, and determined. We get through all the formers with therapyspeak to get to the latter, every time. There isn't disapproval paths, and romance is not much additional content, nor with faction or lineage stuff (and the lineage stuff gets all over the place writing wise for elves over something as vital and core to the setting as dalishness...in THIS GAME IN PARTICULAR with an elven heavy plotline about dalish gods!). In short: all that extra time yet nothing of substance to show for it. Are you gonna replay it more than once to see the other binary choices (and play a new class since, yippee, we can't character swap anymore wow cool!!) just for "good" gameplay? Clearly not lol
It's just so annoying. World states mean something in dragon age, and it is almost universally seen as *the* thing that makes dragon age, dragon age. It makes every playthrough new, and all of them uniquely yours. People love this. Player agency and player choice is diametrically opposed to a live service model. You CANNOT have branching choice when you are releasing a story to every single player at the same time, you MUST tell One version of the story and Only One. That is *the opposite* of dragon age's DNA. If you want us to use this setting for "shared" world states, the only option you have is to give us incidental co-op, which is ultimately less a "shared world state" and more of a viewing party. You can make an NPC and join my band of companions alongside me, and even date one of em if you want but of course not my autistic wizard he is always for me first and you never if I am there, but you will bear witness to my incredible/terrible/stupid/extremely smart and correct choices. And maybe like in BG3 we can allow a proximity choice enabler, and it's a mad dash to the next quest marker to see who gets to choose what happens next... But no. These stupid clowns are like "let's try to do something we have no skills doing and also let's make sure writing is the last priority on the list even though we're like The Writing Studio lol". K. Fail. See if I care. But I ain't being bamboozled again you can't get me to buy ME5 not even if you use my autistic wizard wife as bait you can't get me lol her story neatly concluded along with everyone else's thank god goodbye

Welcome to Curtis's Container Commune!
SUBMISSIONS CLOSED
Or.. it will be a commune one day, but he needs a hand or two first! Technically seven extra pairs of hands... As of right now, all Curtis has is an empty container and a vision! That vision is a self-sufficient community, a greener world and hopefully some nicer digs.
Sure he has no money, the air is putrid, the soil barren... There's no stove, no proper bathroom, no beds, no food, no power, no water, uh.. we'll stop there, but you get the picture. It's gonna be great, right?!
Tired of the rat race? Want to get your hands dirty? Parents kicked you outta their basement? Wanna make some new friends.. maybe more?! Look no further!
Please send your applications to the former Cassidy residence as Curtis doesn't have a mailbox yet (warning: Cassie will read them all)
You might be asking; Becca, what the hell is this? Well... It's a rags to riches style mini "BC" I suppose.. though also, not really 🤔 The idea being that Curty here builds up a container community with seven other sims, since he's the jade generation of the NSB2 challenge... Maybe he finds love, maybe not? I guess you could consider it a rough take on a BC since he could fall in love with one of em? But obviously there's no roses, challenges, dates or eliminations and some sims may leave due to.. idk, not being able to cope, falling out with members of the community, whatever else?? We're wingin' it here as per, so we'll see what happens.
IMPORTANT NOTE: As of right now I'm on patch 1.89.214.1030 and have no plans to update. Any submissions need to be made/have been made for this patch or earlier. I'm sorry to potentially cut some of you off from submitting but I'm just not willing to potentially break my game for this shit lmao.
Info: Curtis is a vegetarian, recycle disciple, green fiend with the Eco Innovator aspiration aka the Jade Gen of the NSB2.
Seven sims will be chosen! (I learnt my lesson last time, no more!!)
Occults are allowed but ehhh.. not preferred.
All sims/genders/sexualities are welcome! YA preferred.
Sims may have jobs, likes and dislikes, freelance careers etc if you wish but we're sticking it to the man for the most part, so..?
Curtis is a dummy so he's not screening this shit. Obviously handy sims, gardeners etc etc would be the most use but if you wanna throw a squeamish spanner in the works, go ahead!
In a similar vein, feel free to give 'em some skills!
Sims may not bring any money with them. We're starting from 0!
I have all packs/kits except journey to Shituu and High School whatever it is.
At least one outfit per category.
CC allowed but keep it light on the clothes plx, no alpha hair either.
Give 'em as much or as little backstory as you wish. They're ultimately just gameplay sims so you don't have to go nuts if you can't be arsed.
Any in game traits allowed but keep it real y'know.. 3 traits only and no custom traits plx!
Wicked Whims is in effect 👀
Non "winners" or sims that choose to leave may stay in my game as a townie or be returned to their creator.
Hmmmm.. I think that's it? Idk.. any questions or w/e shoot me a dm!
Bear in mind this is simple gameplay so posts will just be like my regular gp posts, it's not gonna be some big production with dialogue or anything. I just felt like bringing some other peoples sims along for a fun little experiment to spice things up.
Tag me and your simmies with #Curtis'sCommune so I can see em! Deadline for submissions is August 30th (ish). I have a busy two weeks coming up so this may be longer if I can't get my shit together.. or shorter if I get a ridiculous amount. Somnium is my baby and comes first so this is gonna be real chill! Curtis is still a teen atm so it's all gooood, I won't be starting straight away.
#ts4#sims 4#curtis#Curtis'sCommune#idk wtf to tag this as lmao#it's hardly a bc#😂#just my regular gameplay but with your simmies knocking around to spice things up#god knows the eco asspirations are boring af so i need something to get me through this gen lmaoo

Hiiiii Mai! This isn’t a request or anything but I wanna hear your thoughts since you like tlou and RE..
so I definitely think RE Leon could survive in tlou universe (maybe not baby re2 leon but even then, he did topple umbrella and defeat a bloater sized bio weapon), but how do you think Joel would fair in an RE universe?
like he did kill an entire firefly hospital and is pretty cutthroat against more aggressive forms of zombies (bloaters), but I also don’t know if he could topple a whole bio weapon regime?
idk just a fun thought!! what do you think? :)
That's a very interesting question, nonny. Honestly, I too don't doubt Leon could handle a shroom apocalypse it will simply take him some getting used to be wary of the spores. Other than that, he will be fine for the most part.
Joel on the other hand. We don't know much about how his first 20 years post outbreak so I can't say anything for sure but I think he would be able to survive if he has someone by his side (for instance Tommy, who had his back at the very beginning of the apocalypse). Before everything went south, Joel was a crafty man and judging by the first game he is quick to get a hand of how to handle weapons, though he doesn't have a gun at all times or at least he didn't up until the outbreak. So yeah, I see him being able to make his way through Raccoon city if it comes to post outbreak Joel. I can't speak about tlou part II Joel since I haven't seen gameplay but I'm pretty confident it still applies.
That's my opinion and I thank you for asking this question. Of course, feel free to add something or share your option I'm open to hear it!
