No no no, you don't understand. "We've got forever to figure out what the rest means" is Charles making sure that they don't end up like Orpheus and Eurydice, even if it's subconsciously because he never finished the ending of the myth. Because if Charles would have stopped to think through what Edwin fully meant by what he said, or stopped to think through how he feels and give him a longer response based on that, even for just a second of consider, the demon monster thing would've gotten to Edwin. The confession was to Charles what Orpheus turning to find Eurydice was. "Oh if Charles actually reciprocated Edwin's feelings he would have told him then" is the exact same vibes as "If Orpheus really loved Eurydice he wouldn't have turned around", in the sense that no, because Charles and Orpheus loved Edwin and Eurydice so much, even if for the former it was something that would never develop into more, they did what they had to. The only difference is that Edwin and Charles have "forever to work out the rest", they survived to be able to have at least that, while Orpheus and Eurydice don't, and are deemed a tragedy.

The father of the Devlin family murdered his wife and children one night, and no one knows why. While investigating the case, Edwin finds a letter from the eldest daughter, in which she expressed her desire to go to college to get away from her father... and closer to the girl she loved. The family has been stuck in a loop since that awful night, and now Edwin is too.

i am once again compelled to talk about the significance of the "i'll just bring it home" radio message because not only did it feel incredibly poignant and meaningful in the moment despite its simplicity, it quite literally took my breath away when it appeared on screen. after all these years of heartbreak and pain and missed opportunities, charles was comfortable and confident enough to deliver his home race win with unprecedented ease. the fact that this was perhaps his easiest win to date is what makes it all the more significant. everything was on his side this weekend. the car, the weather, the red flag, it all just came together PERFECTLY, as if it was all aligned to help him win. monaco well and truly loved him back this time around. and he was able to bring it home with no anxiety, no stress, no pressure, the only thing in his way being the tears of joy and relief blurring his vision at the end. and they couldn't stop him either. this moment belonged to him. and if that isn't pure poetry i don't know what is.
