#sure SJ is older *at transmigration* in canon

I’ve gotta write something to push my ‘SY is the older brother in Shentwins’ agenda sometime

Admittedly, I don't tend to read much fanfic in fandoms I write for, because I don't want to get my canon and fanon mixed, so my selection is limited, but I've never seen anyone mention the fact that Yue Qingyuan and Shen Qingqiu (Shen Jiu) had a big sister.

One of the children in their "group", presumably numbered between "1" and "6", was a girl, and when he remembers her, Shen Jiu directly associates this lost person with safety and comfort. He thinks of her as the equivalent to Qiu Haitang before Qiu Haitang: someone who provided a place to "hide" from the rest of the world. It's not just that there happened to be an older girl in their group, but this was a girl whom Shen Jiu apparently liked and trusted.

Here's the relevant quote from Part 4 of the Qijiu Extras in SVSSS Volume 4 (the one where Yue Qingyuan finds Shen Qingqiu fighting with Liu Qingge in the brothel):

"All those years, whenever one of his beatings from Qiu Jianluo was over, or whenever he had a premonition of another beating, he had crawled to Qiu Haitang’s room and remained there, quivering. As Qiu Jianluo was unwilling to let his sister see the side of him that was perverse and lunatic, that had been the only place where Shen Jiu could hide.

And even longer ago, there had been some girl in their group, their big sis. But after she reached a certain age, that big sis had been sold to a withered old man to be his second wife. Afterward, they’d left that city, so they’d never seen her again.

Liking women wasn’t the least bit shameful, but treating women like saviors, cowering within their embrace and seeking courage from them… even without anyone saying it, Shen Qingqiu knew that was horrendously shameful. So even if it meant his death, he would never tell anyone, least of all Yue Qingyuan."

So, on the very short list of people that the original Shen Qingqiu actually liked even a little bit, there's: 1) Yue Qi before he became Yue Qingyuan, 2) Qiu Haitang, 3) Ning Yingying, 4) "the tender young lady carrying the pipa" who "had long since thrown on her thin robes and dashed out in terror" when Liu Qingge and Shen Qingqiu were fighting, maybe, and 5) this unnamed big sister who was sold off and never seen again.

I've seen plenty of fics and fic ideas where Shen Yuan transmigrates in as a twin to Shen Jiu or a biologically unrelated sibling to SJ and YQ by being a part of their group, but not as this barely canon big sister character. He could give both Yue Qingyuan and Shen Qingqiu so, so many more Jiejie issues, I'm sure.

Anyway, I had a weird ass idea that I had no one to share with, so I came to share it with you.. sorry, if it's stupid or whatever.. but you know how there are fics about Shen Yuan transmigrating into Wu Yanzi and all.. but I've never seen one where it's Airplane who transmigrates into Wu Yanzi..

It's fun to picture the kind of dynamic that will develop between all the characters, including MBJ and SQH, and if SJ still goes on to become SQQ, would be be less bitter? Maybe WYZ/Airplane helps him in a way that's less evil? Idk..and instead of killing disciples, he just has SJ meet YQY at the IAC? But considering that he didn't exactly opt out of what happens in canonical IAC of SY/SQQ's timeline, he still might cause some chaos, though I believe he'd refrain from killing children on his own. P.s he's supposed to die while trying to kill YQY..

Either way, if they don't go the SJ/SQQ route, maybe SY transmigrates and becomes SQQ? And maybe somehow SJ ends up pushing Binghe? Or something?

I think you’re totally right about Airplane raising him less bitter, but also being unable/unwilling to change the plot too much. so, upon meeting this shaking angry skinny kid he’d still somehow see the future scum villain, but also he’d see a child. and Airplane is not an abuser, he’s not going to ruin teenager’s psyche even further.

he’d probably still teach him all the tricks as required by his character, but more in a way of a god/seer/author. like he shares details that no one else knows and makes sure his spiky teen is protected and safe and powerful enough but makes sure he knows that not everyone is a potential enemy completely undeserving of his trust.

also I feel like Airplane would probably try to make sure SJ and YQY reconcile, for SJ’s sake, and the whole IAC situation would be carried more like a political ambush rather than physical, hopefully 🙏🏽

and maybe they do end up reconciling, but SJ doesn’t want to join the sect anymore — he sees a brighter future with surprisingly knowledgeable WYZ and his super strong demonic boyfriend (aka his dads)

but also im a sucker for inevitability and destiny at it’s worst, so i can totally see SJ still pushing Binghe. like, MBJ has to go to this IAC, and WYZ tags along, and SJ decides to come, too, because he might see YQY there and also, his dads are sure to get into trouble if he’s not there to control their every move(like the older daughter he is, you know?)

so he comes, too. he sees MBJ take an interest in this curly, spoiled boy. He sees the way a man who proudly pronounced him “strong”, “a fighter” and “demon-like” finding someone better than him. a real demon? younger and more powerful than SJ is? he sees red, but doesn’t intervene, for time being.

then, he sees the way new Qing Jing Peak Lord, small and pretty and weak, flings himself at MBJ time and again, ready to die for this demonic child.

So he does push Luo Binghe. It’s easy to do — no one sees him coming. MBJ looks at him proudly, and the Peak Lord looks at him with pain in his eyes, with terror, with recognition. SJ doesn’t know what it’s about but he vows to figure it out.

Later, SQQ finds out all about Airplane and berates him for not stopping his abusive son. Maybe he even takes it upon himself to see to SJ’s better socialization. Maybe SJ gets an uncle who is soft and loving and fucking sad all the time.

As a VADD AND SVSSS fan, especially as a fan of the original villains— please. I AM FROTHING AT THE MOUTH FOR MORE. I'm actually in the process of outlining a crossover with the original goods of both.

oh you have no idea how long ive waited to talk about them. this mayyy get a bit long so ill leave it under the readmore.

disclaimer: i intend on finishing these fics so what im going to be talking about is inspirations and unfinished / abandoned ideas and other ideas i have for the works instead of anything relating to the plots themselves

for svadd, sj is a lot more complicated than he appears to be on the surface. im not so sure if what i have written currently is what i /want/ exactly because i know i want his character to go a certain way. the relationships between him and his modern-day friends is one meant to parallel the in-game "shen qingqiu" sj compares himself to and in much the same way, mirror the way that sy contrasts himself with sqq in canon: but instead of being condescending and viewing sqq as a one dimensional character, sj is able to appreciate his nuance while still being rightfully angry over his actions

to me, sj is supposed to be an unreliable narrator who constantly enforces his own thoughts. he tells himself over and over that he misses his home and that he wants to go back, that he absolutely needs to- but then, he turns the other way and finds himself being sucked even deeper into this different one.

i also really wanted to explore how sjs dynamic with a lot of the characters would be affected knowing that they were "based off" his real friends, but again im not very confident with how it came off lol

there was a lot of points in the story where i attempted to add in foreshadowing for the ending i want the story to take... in any case, it definitely wont go the same way as vadd, though i did toy with the idea of a "version" of sy being the main villain haha

as for the roxanna au there are a lot of things ive wanted to do with this au and its good that i havent posted because it means i can keep revising til i come up with something good lol

its a liujiu au with some bingyuan / cumplane thrown into the mix (the cumplane is overwhelmingly toxic btw bingyuan is the healthy one out of the two here 😭) where yes sj is xana !!! he really just makes such a good manhwa villainess haha

i had been puzzling over what i wanted his motif to be-- after all, sj is typically associated with the simplicity and calming bamboo so the glittering butterflies wouldnt work with him- but after some deliberation i decided with using moths for him :3c still subject to change ofc but i think im happy with this as is

the story is somewhat similar to how roxanna goes but surprise sj isnt the transmigrator here! (and honestly, roxanna wouldve been sm better if xana hadnt been a transmigrator... or maybe i just think that because it was only used as a convenient plot point for her to know crucial info. sigh.)

my outline of how the roxanna au goes is basically this:

lqg fucks around and finds out

sj who has been seeing dreams of the "book" sy read knows what will happen to his family if lqg dies

etc

at the same time: sy, transmigrator, attempts to make sure his only surviving older brother lives to a long happy life and the only way he can secure this is by fucking up that hack author

also i killed off qi-ge and idk if i want him to come back. he'll be like the stereotypical dead anime mother for this au lmao

Okay so: Shen Twins AU in universe edition!

Maybe there is no transmigration at all, maybe SY was born into the PIDW world like airplane-bro was.

But: the twins were born to a moderately wealthy family (with two older singlet brothers, as well as their younger sister later) and when they were toddlers...the elder twin ended up separated from the family while they were out and about...and his parents were unable to locate him. Shen Jiu’s story continues as in canon.

His family look for him like crazy for years, but never find him. Eventually they become convinced he must have died. The family mourns the death of their son. And become very protective of the remaining twin, who is sickly as it is.

The younger Shen becomes spoiled and bored. 

Twins reunite when SJ is accepted into Qing Jing...where his twin brother already is (bonus side story of YQY greeting his “Xiao Jiu” and is completely unrecognized!”) Also: SJ is NOT happy with his twin brother. 

SJ gets the role of Peak Lord... until he falls into a coma post-qi deviation and SY (who didn’t want that level of responsibility and probably left the Sect to become a Rogue Cultivator or something) takes on his role until he wakes up. (Maybe it’s a secret to all but YQY, SY and MQF because they know how SQQ would react to everyone knowing he had a serious qi deviation!. I personally really like this plot and like to imagine SJ waking up after years thank you MQF to discover his brother usurped his role, and all his students and martial siblings prefer him)

However I do think the people who KNEW about SJ’s coma are really happy he’s okay. SY loves his brother after all, no matter his flaws, YQY is of course in love with SJ, and MQF....lowkey he’s in awe of his own genius managing to keep SJ alive for years. (btw, maybe he’s kept in YQY’s house? Because it’s not super sus for MQF to visit his sect leader on a semi-regular basis)

The ending I’m not sure about. Does SJ surrender his title since no one seemed to miss him and ends up as YQY’s kept man? Do SY and LBH take off and live in the Palace full time? Do the twins split the role now?

(btw: if it’s a situation similar to Airplane Bro, The System hardly ever bothers SY until SJ enters the Sect. Because SJ’s twin wasn’t a character in the original novel and so had mostly free reign. Hell he night not even understand who he was born as until the system points out with a pop-up like [Scum Older Brother makes a return!] And then when his brother qi deviates he starts panicking)
