Five year old Gray Fox Farm in Washington State is at IMMEDIATE risk of displacement, meaning the land and farmers will be separated, unable to continue the vital work of rejuvenation and food production!! They raised thousands of dollars for legal fees and have begun a new fundraiser to help the farmers buy the farm outright. Had my very first onsite Bay Area Farmer-to-Farmer training class today with @feralheartfarm and @solrootfarmerscollective. We made tinctures, grounded ourselves in the land and meditated with the plants, learned about irrigation repair and maintenance, and harvested seeds. It was an incredible experience to be in community with others who share an equal love and respect for the land that nourishes our bodies and the history that nourishes our souls and spirits. Yesterday was the first time in just over two weeks that I left my home. It was pretty much the last chance to purchase anything you needed before complete lockdown of the island. Only allowed to leave if absolutely necessary for what’s deemed essential services. Today is about appreciation. Think about your farmers and what they are going through at the moment with this heatwave. Think about the food on your table and were it came from. Farming is a 24 hour job. X Repost from @angelicaorganicfarm using @RepostRegramApp - ☉GLENLYON NOW 11.20am + Northerly wind just to complete it☀😱 . . 2 Farm hands started 6am , mainly to keep irrigation going & do local delivs while Tim started at 2am to get on the road by 4am at latest to do Melbourne delivs (a fraction earlier than when not heatwave). 30°C on farm at 3am 😩 . Farm hands finished by 11am...too hot & windy to get other things done. Tim's still there checking on everything but will prob have to leave it shortly & go back in the evening once it's safe/cooled down enough to do so. Irrigation & meanwhile weeding continues tomorrow & prob Sunday. Don't know how we fitted in farmers' markets!?!...something had to give... . .
