The way I did these prompts is a little different than last time, so let me explain real quick.

I was inspired by another person I saw here on Tumblr that did their prompts based on song titles, so I decided do something similar, but with episode titles from some of the TV shows I watch instead! This is also the perfect way to give everyone a chance to have a bit more free reign with their imagination.

OK I have questions...

1. It used to be canon that not all Gallifrians regenerate. Only those who graduated from the Academy were granted the ability and they limited it to 12 because of Reasons. That was A Thing, right? I'm not making that up? So I always assumed Susan didn't have the ability... are we just retconing that whole canon now? Did the Timeless Child plot change it? Or is the Doctor just assuming Susan specifically will have inherited his Timeless Child endless regenerating ability?

2. Sutekh was not an Actual God in Classic Who. I just rewatched Pyramids of Mars and everything - there's all that talk about the alien race of Osirans, who were powerful yes and had strong psychic ability, but they were ultimately 'just' aliens. Like... they weren't Toymaker and/or Guardian level beings I thought. They couldn't reshape reality. But... has Sutekh BECOME supernatural now, due to whatever the casting salt nonsense was? Is that the implication? Or are they still just super psychic and have been manipulating people/events that way?

3. Sutekh gives a whole crazy List of All The Gods. This is what the Doctor casually referred to as the Pantheon a few eps back I assume. But, again, this was never A Thing before, right? The beings referenced, or the ones known in DW mythology, were entirely UNCONNECTED aliens/entities up until now, right? Just wanting to check there's not canon (or EU canon?) I'm missing here... because if there are existing stories out there combining Sutekh, the Toymaker and THE MARA, then frankly I.Want.Them. So spill for me fandom if I'm missing out pls!

(4. I'm fucking lazy - who has a full written list of this Pantheon pls? How many more of the names have been tracked back to Classic villains already? Can one of them be Ragnarok? (is that why Fifteen name checked them specifically in The Giggle?!) Fenric? The Daemons? The Time Monster? I mean... if the Mara is in there, there's scope for just slapping ANY Classic monster that is vaguely religious/mythological/philosophical/godlike under this umbrella surely? What about Omega even? WERE ANY OF THEM APPLICABLE TO THE BLACK AND WHITE GUARDIANS PLSPLSPLS I REFUSE TO ACCEPT THE TOYMAKER KILLED THEM RTD I REFUSE!)

random extra wavernot4love lore: i grew up going 2 shows & fests like warped in the mid 2010s scene, starting when i was 13 (sup, monumentour darien). sws, ptv, mcr, fob, bmth, atl, & tøp were some of the first bands i ever really loved. i grew up on a LOT of 2010s pop punk, but over the past two years or so have been diving into the 2000s scene, especially in terms of post hardcore, much more than i had before!

i travel as much as i can for shows, oftentimes for the past couple years, solo (i've grown a lot more confident in that & would always rec it over missing out as long as you take precautions! feel free 2 ask for tips)!!! i also love making stuff like bracelets, keychains, stickers, & pins to give out/trade at shows!!

always trying to make the scene an even bigger part of my life, like through art/design + live music photography + music journalism stuff. also have always wanted 2 actually make and play music!!

VERSES (until i make a page for it but this is a lazy copout) UPDATED.

ONE ; ( arc. tides do what they do ; they turn ) ; follows a current timeline with my own canon divergencies (linked later). does not acknowledge anything past TO s4. ep 2. most random interactions will pretty much go here. Klaus has opened a few art galleries and tends to travel, bringing Hope along on her summer vacations.

TWO ; ( arc. you’ve heard of me ) ; TVD S2-3 arc. any interactions that would have taken place during that time go here. as a general rule of thumb, Klaus is not into Caroline here.

THREE ; ( arc. ghost hybrid ) ; AU. After being turned, Klaus wasn’t near Mikael when he triggered the curse and turned into a wolf. After turning back, he went back home and overheard Esther and Mikael discussing him. When Mikael went to search for him, he killed Esther. While Mikael killed Ansel and multiple other wolves, Klaus took whoever else he could including his paternal siblings (seeing as how Cary is his very distant nephew), and got the hell out of dodge, leaving his other siblings behind out of guilt for what happened to Henrik and fear they would all despise him for killing Esther. He’s been the original hybrid since first feeding, and no curse was placed on him. He travels with wolves (from his father’s pack, and others who later joined them) as the alpha and makes it a PRIORITY to not be known as he doesn’t want his siblings finding him. By the time TVD starts, he hasn’t been in contact with any of his maternal family in a thousand years. He has only turned hybrids, and keeps them all close. He’s still a fairly violent person, but it’s displayed in other ways than making a thousand years worth of enemies. Likely requires a bit of plotting before we get into any interactions here. Several things are changed due to the way he is in this AU, a few being his children, things that were because of him (Katerina turning, Marcel turning, etc) and such. Klaus is a essentially a ghost story in this AU, and even his siblings would only know him by face and voice, NOT by name ( as is with any of my aus, Niklaus is not his birth name, it’s one he chose for himself later on. ). Can take place at any point in history. He’s not perfect, but Klaus is significantly different in this AU. For better and for worse.

FOUR ; ( arc. human days ) ; Pretty much as it says. Any interactions that take place when Klaus was human will go here.

FIVE ; ( arc. caeleste academy ) ; Essentially, Klaus opened a school for supernatural creatures instead of funding the Salvatore one. No bunny blood, no banishment to prison worlds, none of that shit. Everything in this verse is technically the same as the first one, except he has a school. He’s the headmaster, not a teacher. The students do NOT fix the problems, and he has a much wider variety of people he could hire to teach supernatural students rather than.. well, humans. This verse could be considered a part of the first one, but it is primarily, specifically for those school-related interactions that would happen here.

SIX ; ( arc. history has a way ) ; Any point in history with Klaus as he is.

SEVEN ; ( the cure ) ; Klaus is forced to ingest the cure and becomes a regular wolf ( albeit still bigger than the wolves of current times due to how old he is ).  He can’t ( as per the cure ) turn back into a vampire, nor can he be healed by vampire blood. His wolf healing is slower than vampiric healing, but it’s still something he has as well as enhanced strength, speed, eyesight, smell and his venom is deadly to vampires. He dips into hiding until he finds a way to get all his sirelings linked back to him again. Diverges from TVD right after Elena burns her house down. Requires probably at least a bit of plotting. He had not slept with Hayley at this time, so Hope may or may not be a thing and the events of the Originals are INCREDIBLY DIFFERENT, if they happen at all. Silas eventually does take the cure from him and kills him, which results in Klaus being resurrected by the witches he keeps. He remains just a wolf ( still bigger ), whose life is linked to Elijah’s to prevent a permanent death. After being resurrected, vampire blood can heal him, but he still can’t be turned into one. He still has a number of hybrids ( see here ) who protect him and see him as their alpha, mostly because they don’t know whether or not killing him would still kill them as well ( as the only ones who know about his brief death are SILAS & ELIJAH ).

if you want: mystery cat and mouse game / planning crimes vs solving them / all this with people who have supernatural powers while the main character doesn’t / protagonist or antagonist? / visuals a bit cheesy tho

"Talentless Nana” is another one of those anime that sets up and then completely destroys its own premise to reveal the true one underneath in its 1st episode. With these kind of anime, the impact of the 1st episode can often influence someone into watching the rest, just because people are really into plot twists. I was unfortunately spoiled on this episode due to my overly enthusiastic youngest sister as she really loved this anime and wanted me to watch it ASAP. Well, it wasn’t ASAP but here I am and you know... I enjoyed it as well!

From here on out, I’ll be mentioning spoilers so if you want to check out the 1st episode at least to see what all the fuss is about, don’t read further.

<SPOILERS>

As I said, while I was spoiled on the true premise of the show , the execution could’ve still been a complete shitshow, mitigating the impression from ep.1. But it didn’t, it was actually a lot better than I expected. You still need to take “Talentless Nana” seriously despite how cheesy some of the scenes are to really be able to enjoy this anime.

The true premise of the show is actually spoiled in its own title. In this world, people with supernatural abilities exist and are referred to as “Talented”. In the anime, a group of Talented kids are training in an Academy on a secluded island to defeat the “enemies of humanity” (some alien looking mofos). Which is where our main character, Nana comes in. Talentless Nana. However, her not having a talent isn’t revealed; she goes around saying that she can read minds. Nana also has the typical ditzy main character look; pink everywhere, a flawless smile, friendly and kind. Or so you’d think. Because it’s a front. Just like the Academy. Just like the Enemies of Humanity.

What these kids don’t know is that the “enemies of humanity” they’re training to defeat, don’t exist. Well they practically do: it’s them. Previous Talented went around on rampages, destroyed cities and used their talents for evil etcetc. So every newly awakened Talented is sent this this secluded little island. But what happens when they graduate? Nana is here to make sure they don’t. 

An organization actually sent in Nana with one objective; kill as many of the students as you can. Nana is very perceptive which is how she can keep up her “mind reader talent” as a front, with deductions from the smallest details. But of course, a cat and mouse game isn’t one without either part missing. So to make Nana’s job harder and to make the anime more tense all around, a character named Kyouya takes on the role of the cat. Nana needs take keep up her kind and smiley front in front of her classmates so she isn’t suspected, needs to figure out how to fight the Talented who have powers most dangerous to her mission and also needs to create more and more careful plans to throw off Kyouya’s scent. 

Minus maybe the last 2 episodes, the anime remains consistent with its writing and its evil mastermind vs Sherlock incarnate storyline. I had a lot of fun watching Nana coming up with plans, getting herself out of difficult situations and try to be as careful as possible, only for Kyouya to see through it (even if he isn’t 100% sure). The side characters aren’t particularly interesting though for us to get attached and root for them instead of Nana. They actually appear to be pretty stupid, some could say. But I didn’t really care about that, to be honest, just about Nana’s plans and whether they’d succeed. 

The last 2 episodes set up a kind of climax for Nana’s character development but iz comes and then goes so fast that it feels hamfisted. Not helping matters that there’s a murder mystery going on in the background while Nana is battling with her *Feelings* which breaks the flow. The ending is also not an actual ending, which I especially hate. The manga is still running but so far no mention of a 2nd Season so I’m side-eyeing hard. I also wish the art was a bit better. It’s quite mediocre for most scenes (even the OP looks a bit goofy).

But despite my complaints, I still quite enjoyed the majority of the anime so, decent score goes to you!

1. What is your favourite food/beverage? I had a roast beef the other day that tasted exactly like the one my grandma used to make (bonus points for apple sauce). 

Beverage wise I love a summery fruit juice!

2. What is your favourite fandom [currently]? I have been dragged back into the supernatural fandom. It’s so unhinged (complimentary), especially with cons starting back up. I’m also always in love with WTNV, so that. (Plus get ready for my Penumbra Podcast renaissance, fueled by the upcoming season 4. Coming soon to a dash near you) 

3. What shows are you watching [currently]? OTGW re-watch baby! I’m also like 5 eps into Daredevil but then uni started and I haven’t kept up 😢

4. What’s your strength? Idk, I like to think I’m adaptable and friendly. I don’t like to think about myself much so that’ll do

5. What’s your weakness? I will straight up not do things if I’m not enjoying them (case in point; I haven’t eaten today)

6. Pet peeves? Needless repetition. My mum drove me to get vaxxed this week and asked no less than 6 times when it was (when I’d already forwarded the time to her AND put it on the family calendar). It also happens a LOT with my uni course 😡

7. What’s your ideal type? I’m Aro+Ace baby; I’m immune! Ideal friend tho is silly and thoughtful and sends all kinds of weird shit they think I’ll like with no context. I love that shit 💜

8. The last food you ate? As I said, I haven’t had a proper meal yet (and it’s nearing 6pm, oops!) The only thing I’ve eaten all day is a banana and some choc-chips lol. Just had some nice apple juice tho 😊

9. Favourite animes? I don’t really watch anime, but if Ghibli films count then I love When Marnie Was There, Howl’s Moving Castle and Your Name.

10. Regular pastimes/Hobbies? Reading, the odd craft™ (I’ve got a pair of pants I’ve been slowly embroidering for like 2 years lol). I also just bought a trombone so hopefully that 💜

12. All-time favourite show? Probably the two already mentioned; supernatural (derogatory) and Over the Garden Wall. Honorable mention to I Am No Okay With This and Umbrella Academy. I generally don’t watch too much TV tho

13. What are you doing right now? I’m in a zoom class looking at chord/scale relationships for the millionth time 🙃

15. Favourite rest-time activities? podcasts 💜 i’d also add reading in here but considering I’ve been reading a lot of gorey books it’s not super relaxing haha
