Midnight Fun

This is for Day 14 of Supercorptober

Fandom: Supergirl

Characters: Kara Danvers, Lena Luthor, Jess

Summary: Lena is overworked. Luckily, she has Kara in her life to force her into a much-needed break.

Word Count: 1,389

Lena yawned as continued to type at her desk in her apartment office. She looked at her watch and winced. It was midnight. She looked back at the reports in front of her and groaned. 

“It is going to take me 3 more hours to actually finish this,” muttered Lena. 

She shook her head and was about to start typing again when she heard a knock on her door. She nearly jumped into her own skin. She quickly switched her computer screen to her security footage and breathed a sigh of relief. It was Kara. While she was happy it was just her friend outside her door, she was a little concerned that she was here this late. She quickly went to the door and answered. 

“Hey Kara! Is everything okay?” asked Lena worriedly.

Kara rubbed the back of her neck while looking at Lena sheepishly.

“I came to force you to take a break. No one has seen you for the past week.”

Lena gave a soft smile. She felt bad about making her friends worry about her. However, she felt she was so close to a breakthrough. 

“I am sorry for not calling, but I think I might have found something to help get the lead out of the drinking water. I just need a couple more hours…”

“Lena, when was the last time you ate?”

Lena looked at her startled and asked, “What?” 

“Seriously, when was the last time you ate or even taken a nap?”

“Uhhh…..”

Kara smirked and asked, “You don’t remember do you?”

Lena looked down and sheepishly and said, “No.”

Kara grabbed Lena’s hand and dragged her inside. 

“Hey, where are you taking me?”

Kara guided Lena over to the couch to sit down. She turned to Lena with a smile on her face. 

“We are going to sit here, eat junk food, and watch your favorite movies.”

Lena looked towards her office and frowned. 

“But my research.”

Kara took Lena’s face in her hands and stared Lena directly in the eyes which caused Lena to blush. 

“You need to take better care of yourself. Working yourself to the bone isn’t going to do anyone any good.”

Lena nodded as Kara gradually let go and started grabbing food out of her bag and placing it on the table in front of them. Lena wasn’t used to someone caring for her well-being. When she met Kara a couple of months ago, she knew that she was gorgeous, but she soon discovered that she was also, kind, generous, and very driven especially when it comes to her friends. Lena was so used to being manipulated by people that she still had a hard time knowing how to respond when people were actually thinking about her well-being. She smiled, shook her head, and stared at the food before her. Lena was shocked at the amount of food that Kara brought: cheese puffs, several pints of ice cream, nachos, pigs in a blanket, cinnamon buns, two bottles of wine, and over course dumplings. It was enough to feed an army. 

Lena smirked and said, “How is this food taking care of me exactly?”

Kara chuckled, and said, “I know I have the taste buds of a child but this is at least better than consuming nothing at all the entire day.”

Lena sighed and said, “That is true.”

As she began nibbling on the pigs in a blanket, she asked, “What movies did you bring?”

“I brought your favorite films.”

Kara got out of the bag five movies. Lena looked through the titles. She then looked back up at Kara with a raised eyebrow. 

“These are all horror movies.”

“I know.”

“But you hate scary movies.”

Kara looked hesitantly at the films and said, “I know, but given the titles, I didn’t think they could be that scary.”

Lena narrowed her eyes and asked, “Really?”

“Yeah.”

“Have you heard of any of these films before?”

“Well no, but what could really be the harm in them though? Like this movie Children of the Corn. What is wrong with children liking corn? And then this film Alien. Why would anyone be scared of something from another planet?”

Lena stared at her baffled. 

” What?” asked Kara quizzically.

“Nothing. It is just an interesting take you had on the movies is all.”

Lena shook her head and looked at the other three movies. Given how Kara got scared easily, she saw only one that she might enjoy. However, it could just backfire. 

Lena looked up at Kara and pointed at the last film on the right. 

“I think we should watch this one first.”

Kara picked it up and smiled. 

“Aww, this fury little creature looks so cute. I think it will be fun.”

Lena muttered, “We’ll see,” as Kara put the DVD in the DVD player. 

As the movie began to play, Lena began to relax and laugh a little. She had forgotten how hilarious Gremlins was. However, she noticed something in the corner of her eye shaking. She turned over and her face saddened. Kara was curled up in a ball with her hand over her eyes. Lena paused the movie and gently placed a hand on Kara’s shoulder. 

“Kara, are you okay?”

Kara peeked a little over her hands and stuttered, “I’m fine. You can start back the movie.”

Lena pulled Kara into a hug and said, “You are not fine. You are shaking and trying to hide.”

Kara looked up sheepishly and said, “I thought that I could handle it. Gizmo looked so cute. Who knew that such evil creatures could come from him?”

Lena chuckled and said, “I know. It is really silly.”

“And scary,” muttered Kara.

Lena laughed and said, “How about we watch something we both can enjoy?”

Kara quickly shook her head and said, “But we should be doing something you like. You are the one that needs to unwind.”

Lena smiled and said, “Ever since you came, I haven’t thought once about work. You know why?”

Kara shook her head.

“Because I get to hang out with my best friend. We can just sit here in silence eating for all I care. As long as I am with you, I am happy.”

Kara blushed and said, “Well when you put it that way…”

Lena blushed and quickly went to the DVD player. 

“I have another movie I have been wanting to watch but didn’t want to watch by myself. Now where is it?”

Lena looked around for a minute before saying, “Found it!” 

She popped it into the DVD player and sat back down. 

“What are we watching?” asked Kara warily.

Lena smiled and said, “Something I know that we will both get a kick out of.”

The credits rolled and Kara began to squeal. 

“Oh! This is my favorite film. I didn’t know you got The Proposal.”

Lena looked down while twiddling her thumbs. 

“Several friends have recommended it to me so I was curious.”

However, Lena wasn’t being completely honest. She bought the movie because Kara mentioned over 1,000 times that this was her favorite movie of all time. She was hoping she would have a chance to watch it with Kara alone and decided to take tonight as this chance. 

Lena grabbed a blanket she kept on the couch and wrapped it around herself.

Kara beamed at the blanket and asked, “Do you mind if we share that? It looks so warm and comfy.”

“Sure!”

Kara cuddled under the blanket with Lena. They were so close that Lena could feel the warmth radiating off of her. As she rested her head on Kara’s shoulder, she could smell the pumpkin spice lotion she used which caused her to swoon. 

My dream is becoming a reality.

“You are really in for a treat Lena. Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock are a great comedy duo and their romance in this movie is so cute.”

“I can’t wait!”

As they settled in to watch the movie, Lena couldn’t believe how her day had been. She began the day feeling stressed beyond belief and was now ending it in the arms of the woman she adores. Lena felt a sense of contentment that she had never felt before as they continued to watch more romantic movies as the night went on.

Those words always held entirely too much meaning for the Luthor to ever mutter since— her (𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫) best friends betrayal. It’s been years and yet, it bleeds like a fresh wound. No matter how much whisky she drinks. No matter the times she drowns herself endlessly in her endeavor to clear her family name. To make the Luthor legacy something more than the torrential downpour of hate it’s become.

Those words haunt her each and every day. Awake and asleep. The women’s face painted so freshly in the forefront of the raven haired CEO’s mind.

That’s when the women’s face appeared clear as day on her screen. Her heart instantly raced and dropped simultaneously at the same time. How was she able to still do this even after all of these years. There was a gentle shake of her head. Digits lazily grasping her glass of scotch. Van Horne, just like those many years ago.

Lena wasn’t one to really move on to forgive. To let the one women she 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙 more than anything—anyone on the face of this earth go. Years, and she still hadn’t found a cure for the disease that was Andrea Rojas.

Bringing the glass up to her lips, taking a long subtle sip. Her features seemingly un phased by her former lovers face. Digits gently slipping upon her intercom system to communicate to her assistant.

“Jess, set up a meeting with the CEO of Obsedian North at her earliest convenience please.”

“Of course Miss Luthor right away.”

There’s a gentle click of her tongue. Ankles gently crossing. As she places the glass upon her desk. Betrayal was something the youngest Luthor knew too much of. Forgiveness though? That was foreign territory, though there was a pain deep within her heart that ached to forgive her. To let her in once again.

‘𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒋𝒖𝒎𝒑 𝑰 𝒋𝒖𝒎𝒑, 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕?’

Again those words played in her mind. For days and weeks as the women seemed to be on board for their new business partnership. What seemed to be a smart move, financially for the Luthor was quickly becoming more and more complicated. Each and every meeting with her seemed to resurface old feelings.

‘𝗕𝗼𝘅𝗲𝘀, 𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘆, 𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘆 𝗯𝗼𝘅𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻. 𝗡𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝘁.’

She had to remind herself each and everyday. Every time Andrea showed up uninvited to mend there very 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧 r̷e̷l̷a̷t̷i̷o̷n̷s̷h̷i̷p̷—friendship. Though the Luthor was the one whom held all the power. When would she accept the olive branch? When would she truly forgive the women who had utterly 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘺𝘦𝘥 her so long ago.

in hot water

Lena opens her eyes, a small smile spreading across her face. Although it is early, and it feels like the entire sun is shining right into the room, she can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of contentment. Last night had not only been the best night of her life for those reasons, but her best and only friend (other than a superhero, but that doesn’t count) had actually returned her feelings. The Luthor is actually starting to believe that she deserves a little happiness in this life. I mean, Kara Danvers - National City’s sweetheart - likes her.

As she stretches her limbs out across the queen sized bed, she finds that Kara must have already gotten up. Taking a second to bask in the comfort of the blonde’s bed, she finally hears the sound of water hitting tile. Kara must be in the shower. Lena smirks slightly and moves to stand up. Yeah, maybe it is a little early to be showering together, but no one said anything about doing other things IN the shower.

The bathroom door is slightly cracked, so she tiptoes in. It is really steamy, she notices, but she chalks it up to poor ventilation and keeps going. The brunette smiles at the voice of the blonde drifting over the curtain. The dork is singing in the shower. Kara is so goofy and lovable, but Lena’s mouth practically salivates at the though of the body behind that curtain just waiting for her.

Quickly taking off the NCU hoodie of Kara’s that had been her only nightwear, Lena cautiously shifts the curtain back and steps inside the-

“Shit!”

Kara yelps and whirls around, falling backwards slightly into the shower caddy. Lena can hear the bottles of soap and shampoo hit the floor with a bang as she hurriedly scurries away from the stream - almost taking the shower curtain with her as she goes.

"Oh, my God!" Kara exclaims, jumping out of the tub - still naked - to literally lift Lena off the floor. Lena hisses, and lifts the arm that had been hit with the blistering stream. The blonde crinkles her brow at the redness she finds there. "What the-," she starts, but she is cut off.

"How do you not have third degree burns all over your body right now, Kara?" the brunette asks. Kara opens her mouth to reply, lifting her eyes to the ceiling for a way to answer that question. She pauses, moves around Lena to grab the fluffy robe off the door, and wraps it loosely around Lena's shoulders - careful not to irritate the burn on her arm. Kara grabs the towel that had been hanging up and wraps it around herself before leading Lena to take a seat on the closed toilet lid. She kneels in front of her. The other woman hisses as the air stings at her arm and Kara hates to see the pain on her girlfriend's face. The blonde takes a deep breath before looking up to meet Lena's eye. "I promise I'll explain this later, okay?" She looks confused before the brunette's arm is met with a cool, refreshing breeze. Lena sighs in relief before her eyes go wide. Kara just...

I’m now writing and publishing on AO3!!!! I’m super excited about it.

I’d had this idea for this Supergirl fanfiction abd well, eventually I started planning and then writing and now...we’ll I’ve got 4 chapters up so far!!

The premise:

It’s a high school au with as many characters I can put in as possible.

In this story though, even more importantly is that Kara Danvers (or the person we know as Kara Danvers or who becomes her), is a trans girl.

So my story is telling the story of Kara’s journey, figuring out what it means to be a trans girl, who’s Kryptonian, now on planet Earth.

I wish Kara failed

(Heads up this kinda turned into a fanfic. My first ever.) Hear me out. Let me say I loved 2x15 but I do miss storylines that last more than one episode. Every ep seems to end with someone saving the day, then some new storyline comes in last minute in order to get us to come back for the next episode. Here's what I wish happened. -- Kara puts every ounce of energy into stopping that space ship, and Alex encourages her through the glass. Slowly, Alex realizes that she's asking too much. Kara isn't a match for the million-ton accelerating machine she's up against. Alex knows the task can't be completed, and that Kara is about to be carried into space with them, without oxygen, and she needs to fly back before she leaves the atmosphere. Alex, with tears in her eyes, yells for Kara to go back. No way is Kara about to give up. Alex cries for Kara to go back, "You'll die, Kara!" Kara pushes back. "I'm NOT leaving you." Kara continues, but continues accelerating backwards, and even though she feels the strength of Earth and Krypton coursing through her body, it's not enough. She eventually knows that if she doesn't leave them, she will die. They may have a chance inside the ship. Kara gasps for the air that is barely there. She yells she'll find a way to come back for them, and struggling to breathe, flies away, leaving the ship on a trajectory into space. Kara flies back to the DEO, hyperventilating, tears streaming down her face, drops to her knees, barely able to choke out that it was her fault. Maggie is there, and comforts her, clearly trying to stay strong, but can't hide her voice cracking. Kara feels Maggie's hands shaking on her shoulders. Maggie knows it wasn't Kara's fault, but her own. J'onn's eyes glow red and he slams his hand on the desk, enraged, and he growls that he never should've tested Alex the way he did. Alex and the aliens soar through space. Alex hasn't moved. She can't move. The universe is suddenly silent and slow paced. Alex wonders if this is what the rest of her life will look like. She thinks of what she left behind. Kara. J'onn. Her parents. Maggie: a growing love that will never reach its potential. Silence. Alex doesn't move. She can't even blink. For minutes. Maybe hours, maybe days. Silence. Suddenly, she sees a planet fly by at light speed. Then another, then another, then CRASH. They land, violently. But they land. Alex hits her head, but comes to, and looks out onto their new, hopefully temporary home. Red rocks, and fires in the distance. But it's land. She checks on the other aliens. Miraculously, they're all alive. They have no way to communicate with Earth, and no idea where it is. All Alex knows, and what she assures the others, is that they're going to find a way back. At the DEO, J'onn knows there's only one person who can fix this problem. Wynn. He has already been given his new task, and J'onn, Kara, and Maggie demand he finishes it if it's the only task he works on for the rest of his life. Find Alex. --- Oh hey that kinda turned into a fanfic. My first ever. Anyway yeah that would've been awesome if that storyline lasted more than one episode! Like dude that would've been fun to be chasing them across the universe! I would've loved to have seen the teamwork between J'onn Maggie Kara and Wynn getting their girls back. Also dude! That space ship was designed to be unstoppable. Supergirl keeps saving things with her strength. What about when she can't? Sometimes physical strength isn't going to be enough, and she has to find another way.
