1.) eddie met billy the summer the latter’s family moved to hawkins, before school started. at first, billy didn’t seem so bad. they even hung out a few times, listened to music, smoked. 2.) eddie had several classes with billy during which time he saw the dude morph into his ugly side. eddie is convinced it’s a defense mechanism. 3.) thought about pretending to drown just to have a squints/peffercorn moment. 4.) one time they were sitting across from each other at a table and eddie thought billy was playing footsies with him. he took the bait and got kicked so hard in his shin he’s pretty sure there’s a dent now.

Eddie stares up at him with those big, brown eyes just glittering in the light. When he blinks, his brow curves inward just slightly and he shakes his head at Billy before leaning back on the sofa, both arms hanging over the back of it, as casual as he can present himself.

“Why you’d think I’d think you’d say something like that to anyone, much less me, in a million years is beyond me, Hargrove, but I can’t help the way I’m looking at you.” He drops his hands to his lap to pull a half smoked blunt out of his cigarette pack. He puts it in his mouth and sparks up the end of it, the smoke curling like so many question marks around his head before he stares up at Billy again -- those wide eyes impregnable. “I’m just looking.”

I’m waiting and waiting and waiting meme (NOT ACCEPTING)

The first mistake of the night: deciding to unwind with alcohol. The second? Roping the designated sober member of their band to also partake in the beginning of many regrettable decisions.

Bakugou never drinks with them, even with Kirishima’s goading. He typically stands in the corner, sipping at his soda with a scowl as the rest of the band descends into bubbly, shirtless chaos. (Kirishima always starts the shirt removing. And Bakugou is always burning.)

But all it takes is a tipsy Midoriya waving around a flimsy arm, empty bottle in hand, slurring out, “B-Bet you Kacchan can’t handle h-his alcohol,” in between hiccups and Bakugou marches angrily into the kitchen, swearing.  He stomps back, bottle in hand, face aflame, and swigs it all down. Kirishima cheers. Midoriya giggles.

Todoroki watches with bleary eyes, body draped across the couch and shirt long discarded. (It’s hot.) “…That’s a bad idea, Bakugou…” He waves a hand halfheartedly. “You’re gonna… regret it.”

“The fuck you say, Half n’ Half?” He shakes the empty bottle, and Todoroki swears his face is already tinted pink. “You think I can’t handle this shitty bit of beer? Hah?”

“I didn’t say—”

“Well, you’re fucking wrong.” Bakugou has procured another bottle, somehow, and Todoroki watches as half of it’s drained. He lowers the bottle, and this time, his face is definitely red. “See?”

Todoroki, even through the haze of alcohol vaguely registers that he should probably get help to stop whatever this was. He sluggishly turns his head, and Kirishima and Midoriya are too busy… well, at least their mouths were occupied with something else besides more cheap alcohol. 

“…aku..gou,” he mumbles, raising his arm, meaning to tug the bottle out of his clearly inebriated friend. But instead, he yanks at Bakugou’s arm and the rest of his body. Todoroki grunts at the weight that settles on top of him, chests pressed up against each other, limbs tangled, faces a tiny fraction away—and it’s all too close too close. Even half-lidded, Bakugou’s eyes are too bright. Too red.

Todoroki’s chest bubbles and warmth floods into his face. He doesn’t know if it’s the alcohol in his veins or whatever it was that’s making his chest constrict, but his judgement flies out the window. He blames it on the alcohol. Ignoring Bakugou’s string of mumbled curses, Todoroki tugs at the other’s shirt collar. “…irt off.”

“…What?”

“Shirt. Off.” Todoroki doesn’t really wait for an answer (though he thinks he hears an affirmative grunt) he starts wriggling the article off with the best of his ill-coordinated ability. When it’s finally over Bakugou’s head, he tosses it to the floor, and stares.

In the dim lights of their shoddy apartment, he can still make out the contours of Bakugou’s toned chest, the way the dark seems to shadow all its angles, and when Todoroki raises his gaze, the lighting does the same with the dips and curves of Bakugou’s face. He manages to tear away from the piercing red of the singer’s eyes, only to linger his gaze onto a pair of lips—lips he’s seen enveloped around the mic, and—

Not sure where he intended to go with this, but he has a tentative hand pressed against Bakugou’s bare chest and Todoroki’s everything is on fire.

He’s not thinking, mind fogged with alcohol and desire, when he leans his face forward while dragging Bakugou down further onto the couch. Their lips mash together awkwardly, noses bumping and teeth clacking and Todoroki only vaguely processes what he’s done when he hears a muffled grunt. He pushes Bakugou away, panting and mind still hazy and the alcohol in his blood boils, “…Sorry…I don’t….know what came over me.”

“—on’t stop.”

“What?”

“…Don’t fuckin’ stop if you’re enjoying yourself.” Bakugou mumbles angrily, and Todoroki definitely blames this on the alcohol.

“…If you insist.” This time, they meet each other half-way, a little less clumsy. Todoroki tilts his head, mouth open unintentionally and only when his tongue brushes against another does he realize that Bakugou’s is too—then it’s all wet and sloppy and tastes overwhelmingly of bitter alcohol. He’s languid, too overwhelmed with all the sensations—he thinks he feels a hand in his hair and another on his cheek—and the heat rushing through his whole body is almost unbearable.

They break away, labored breathing mingling, faces still too close. Todoroki’s brain ascatter, he attempts to string together a half-coherent thought  when—

“Woah, man, now that was Plus Ultra…” Kirishima slurs while Midoriya cackles, and all atmosphere from before is gone. Bakugou yells, shoves himself up from the couch, and stomps off towards the drummer.

Todoroki glances towards the commotion, disinterested, and shifts to a comfy position on the couch before he shuts his eyes. 

He’s tired.
