The 14 Best Times to Drink Water in a Day to prevent Dehydration
The Best Times to drink water matter because it’s clear that drinking enough water is important to health. Water accounts for up to 75% of the body weight, water plays a key role in regulating everything from brain function to physical performance to digestion and many more .
Everyone should be aware that drinking water daily is just good to maintain one’s health and their well-being. One can have it ice cold, hot, infused with fruit, and many other ways to quench that thirst. But though, there are best times to drink water.
This article takes a look at best times to drink water and these include;
1. When One is feeling Hungry
One could really be thirsty. Most people don’t know they’re actually thirsty when hunger seems to strike. The brain recognizes these triggers in same. So before you hit the pantry, drink some water first. Then give it a few minutes to see if it satisfies the urge to eat.
2. Before having a Meal
Drinking water before a meal call it “preloading” can help you lose weight. A small study tested people who drank 500 milliliters that’s a little over 16 ounces of tap or bottled water about 30 minutes before mealtimes and throughout the day as they wished. Over 12 weeks, the preloaders lost almost 3 pounds more than those who didn’t follow the protocol.
3. Whenever you perspire
Anything that makes you sweat forexample a sauna or a hot tub, time outside on a hot, muggy day can make the body to lose fluid. Ditto with exercise. As the muscles warm up, the body perspires to cast off heat. You’ll need to cool down with lots of water.
4. Before, during, and after exercise
You need enough of water to replace what you sweat out. Before you work out or spend time outside, fill up your bottle with 16 to 20 ounces of water. Drink 6 to 12 ounces about every 10-15 minutes while you’re active. Afterward, drink up again another 16 to 24 ounces.
5. When one is unwell
Hydration is important to healing when you’re sick. Symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, and fever can cause extreme water loss. At the first sign of illness, drink lots of water, especially when you’re not hungry. Avoid alcohol and caffeinated drinks. They’ll dry out the system even more.
6. When you’re on a plane
Ever wondered why you get so parched and thirsty when you are on the plane, It’s all about altitude. The higher the plane goes, the drier the cabin air becomes and around half the air in the cabin flows in from outside. To combat the super-low humidity level, carry on an empty water bottle to fill up as needed during your flight.
7. When you Get a Massage
The massage therapist will thank you if you take water before you hit the table. The muscles will be softer and more supple, which makes it easier for them to manipulate the tender tissue. This body work releases substances you should flush out afterward with plenty of water, too. This is extra important if you have a deep tissue or other heavy-duty massage
8. Before Gaming
Do you know almost three-fourths of the brain contains fluid? If your levels dip too low, the blood vessels in this organ shrink. This can affect coordination, short-term memory, attention span, and stamina, a Chinese study found. So if you feel tired and muddled, pass up a caffeine-charged energy drink. Simply drinking water can help you bounce back.
9. When You’re in a Midday Slump
It’s mid-afternoon and the energy has left the building. Don’t start a new pot of coffee, though. Instead, have a tall glass of water maybe sparkling to add some pizza with lemon or another flavoring to bump up the mood. Your hydration state directly affects mood, memory, and visual perception, the British Journal of Nutrition reports.
10. When you have a headache
One of the top migraine triggers is dehydration. Some people report that even a slight dip in fluid intake can bring on an intense headache. It also can make you feel fuzzy, and in some cases even require medical treatment. Especially if you’re migraine-prone, keep a water bottle handy at all times and track your intake. If you feel a twinge coming on, a glass can save your day.
11. When You get up from bed
First thing in the morning is one of the best times to hydrate. Your body has gone through a long fast. For a simple jump start, squirt half a lemon in your first glass of a.m. water for a bright boost of antioxidant phytonutrients, vitamin C, and potassium.
12. Take enough water
More fluid is better for average, healthy adults. 15.5 cups a day is good for men, while 11.5 cups a day from all food and drinks is enough for most women. But this includes hydration from food and all beverage sources. Your own needs depend on your health, how much you need
13. Before your menstrual Period
One can ease premenstrual discomfort and reduce bloating by drinking lots of water before the period, as well as during. One of the biggest causes of cramps or headaches is dehydration. A recent study of young women with dysmenorrhea (very painful menstruation) found that drinking more water shortened their cycles, eased pelvic pain, and lessened their need for pain relief.
14. When you want to chop weight
Water is more than a calorie-free way to help yourself feel full. It may also rev up your metabolism. In one study, 50 girls with extra weight drank about 2 cups of water half an hour before breakfast, lunch, and dinner with no other changes in their diet. After 8 weeks, they lost weight and lowered their body mass index and body composition scores. Water also speeds up lipolysis, your body’s process of burning fat for energy
Conclusion
After reading through it, I hope these recommendations can help you know the best times to drink water in a day. Set yourself up for success in your routine. Implementing these small changes can make a world of difference in the long run.

💕🔥Quick Beauty Level-Ups For Next Month🔥💕
Hello lovelies 💞 As I´ve just finished two weeks of my isotretinoin treatment, I have started noticing the effects (for good and bad tbh 😔). But seeing my skin clearing up makes me so hopeful about doing quick and not so pricey steps to feel the prettiest this next month. So here´s my ideas:
Lash Lift
I was actually very doubtful about lash extensions because of the hygiene part. I´m alergic to a whole lot of stuff and kinda felt the transition part where they start to fall leaves you looking like "in a rush" and with a lot of pressure to continue getting them done. So.. I´m trying the kinda more natural option. I´ve booked an appointment and was told they would last about 6 to 8 weeks.
Hydration, Vitamin, & Oxygen Infusions
I´m DYING to get a proper hydration treatment done. I used to feel like I should only get my masks done at home because in-office treatments would be kinda impossible in a student´s budget. So wrong! There are a lot of options to look online and there´s a pretty wide price range. I´m going to wait a little bit for this one though cause my skin is throwing tantrums at serums rn 😩
Manicure & Pedicure
Almond negative space nails look so good to me right now, so I´m getting them done after work this week. I feel almond nails are such a nice way to keep them practical but super femenine and that the negative space decor makes them so youthful.
Also, I´ve noticed I never get my toes done unless I´m going on vacation. So now I´ll try to keep myself feeling the best even if it´s just for me. I'm loving my foot care scrub to complement the everyday-spa feel.
Dermaplaning
If you struggle with facial hair I would recommend dermaplaning which basically means shaving your hair with a scalpel. My dermatologist recommended it to me as I used to wax. Waxing is so not worth it to me now. No more burning, pain with quick and easy results! Dermaplaning also helps you gently exofliate the skin and helps your products penetrate deeper into your skin. The only thing is you have to be super hygenic. Also it may be dangerous if you also stuggle with acne.
Proper Hair Masks
I can´t stress this enough but seeing my friends getting a whole.goddamn.salad into their curls without getting any results makes me so ugh.
I do trust many home made recipes with aloe vera but trying the top 10 hair masks buzzfeed posts with every fruit on your fridge is not doing your best to keep your hair healthy. Find a proper stylist to recommend an improved routine!
Anyway, I hope this inspires you to find quicker ways to feel improved about your appearance. I´ve notived many of us end up postponing beauty treatments and there´s literally no harm in getting also you beauty goals classified as short, medium and long term!

Review of banila co.’s Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm Original
banila co is a Korean brand that believes great skin is the best base for great makeup. Their Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm Original is designed as an all-in-one sherbet-type cleanser that melts into the skin to gently remove makeup, exfoliate and hydrate in one simple step. Key ingredients include onsen-sui (detoxifying, hydrating, anti-irritation, gently exfoliates, reduces the appearance of wrinkles), tocopheryl acetate (antioxidant, prevents skin damage from UV rays, anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, wound healing), bamboo extract (soothing, adds vitality, anti-inflammatory, removes dry skin, antioxidant, healing, hydrating), rooibos extract (antioxidant, soothing, anti-aging, refines the look of wrinkles and fine lines, hydrating, sensitive skin-friendly) and acerola fruit extract (antioxidant, prevents aging, evens and brightens skin tones, boosts collagen production, hydrating, moisturizing). This product retails for between $19-24 USD, you can get it here for $16 + shipping.
Ingredients
Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, PEG-10 Isostearate, Synthetic Wax, Onsen-Sui, Phenoxyethanol, Butylene Glycol, Lithospermum Erythrorhizon (Gromwell) Root Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Fragrance, Ethylhexylglycerin, Water, 1,2-Hexanediol, Bambusa Vulgaris (Bamboo) Leaf/Stem Extract, Aspalathus Linearis (Rooibos) Extract, Angelica Archangelica (Norwegian Angelica) Root Extract, Malpighia Emarginata (Acerola) Fruit Extract, Polydiethyleneglycol Adipate/IPDI Copolymer, Acrylates/Ammonium Methacrylate Copolymer, Acrylates/Methoxy PEG-15 Methacrylate Copolymer
This balm contains 100 ml (3.38 oz) and has a slight acerola scent.
The product comes in a sturdy plastic tub and it holds a lot of product.
The product is a typical balm type of cleanser that melts down and gets oily. (The lipstick here is Beauty Bakerie's Matte Lip Whip in Cranberry Stiletto).
The lipstick I used is one that stays glued to my lips for 8+ hours and this balm really attacks it.
I'd say this removed 99.5 percent of the lipstick is removed. This is seriously a very hard lipstick to remove though.
Recommended use is to use the spatula included to scoop balm. Gently massage in circular motions onto dry skin using your fingertips to break down all makeup and residue. Add water to emulsify the oil and continue massaging. Rinse well with lukewarm water. After using, the first thing to note, this does have fragrance, it's light but can definitely be an irritant. The balm itself is pretty standard if you've ever used a balm, but this is one of the most popular ones out there. It does have a sherbet-y type texture and starts to melt into an oil very quickly on contact. As you can see in the above pictures this definitely does a great job of removing makeup and should remove most if not almost all makeup in general pretty nicely. The ingredients in this cleansing balm are very nourishing and vitamin-rich and after using it leaves the skin very hydrated and fresh with no dryness or tightness. It doesn't have a super oily texture that gets left on the skin after rinsing like some balms. It's very safe around the eyes and doesn't irritate my eyes at all. This is a very solid cleansing balm and a great one for people who've never tried a cleansing balm. I'd recommend this to anyone except someone with extreme sensitivity.
What I like: this cleansing balm is very nice and smooth, it does a great job of removing makeup and it doesn't leave an oily residue on the skin. It doesn't leave the skin tight or dry at all and it's really quite gentle. What I don't like: this product has a fragrance to it.
Pros:
Removes makeup nicely
Doesn't leave an oily residue
Gentle
Effective
Removes most makeup very effectively
Doesn't leave skin tight or dry
Leaves skin smooth
Product rinses cleanly
Cons:
Fragrance
Would I buy again?
Yes
Rating: 9/10

Happy New Year!! It’s finally 2021 after the 80 months of 2020. We figured that it would be nice to take some time to reflect on the past year and set some goals for the coming year. Of course don’t feel pressured to do this, but enjoy a list of our definitely reasonable new year’s resolutions!!
Felix ’23
Eat beans! My mom keeps telling me to eat beans so I guess this has to be one of my new year’s resolutions. In all seriousness, I went vegan (kinda hate this word but…) this semester! I’d consider myself a moderately healthy vegan but I plan on eating more whole foods like veggies, fruits, grains, seeds, nuts, and legumes vs processed faux meats.
Travel (if allowed + safe). I really miss taking solo trips into Cambridge and Boston to explore hidden gems. Even though I grew up near Boston, I feel like I don’t know Boston/Cambridge that well tbh. I’ve been watching too many travel videos over quarantine and now I’m considering studying abroad!
I started journaling a bit over the summer but I stopped because I didn’t make it a priority of mine. I really undervalued the *power* of journaling and ~manifesting~ so I want to pick up writing again.
Stop being a hoarder ~physically and mentally~ and marie kondo my life. For example, my email inbox is at a total of 22309 emails...
Be consistent! I was all over the place this past semester :((
Learn spanish + french (this is such a stretch goal aiya)
Alison ’23
the obligatory ✨ health ✨ things: sleep earlier bc i definitely feel more refreshed and motivated when i wake up early, exercise more/take more walks bc nature good, DRINK WATER AND YOU SHOULD ALL STAY HYDRATED IT IS VERY IMPORTANT
have more confidence! for some reason i always tend to downplay my abilities and i have a ridiculously high threshold for being able to say that i “know”/”understand” something, and i’m working on that :)
the biggest goal on this list is probably to slow down a little. especially since this past semester has been virtual and being home /feels/ like i have more time, i’ve maybe possibly committed myself to too many things. mit has so many super cool opportunities and it’s tempting to try to sign up for as many as possible, but you may run the risk of spreading yourself too thin and not being able to spend as much time as you would like to on each individual cool thing. which doesn’t sit super well with the Perfectionist™ part of me, so next year we will Calm Down and stop cramming my schedule so hard
which leads me to my last point, which is sort of just a dump of all the things i want to do since i will presumably stick to resolution #3 and have more free time
read more!! after telling myself this every year, i finally sat down and read a lot of books last summer and it was an 11/10 experience would recommend
stop watching youtube videos about food and actually make the food
revive my lettering instagram
get better at digital art
learn how to Animate also drop out and work at pixar
grow an entire plant army
learn how to talk to squirrels, not sure where this one will go yet but it’ll be good
are these new year's resolutions or my bucket list scientists can’t tell
Emily ’22
Six pack abs
6.0/5.0 GPA
Make a boba buying schedule so I don’t fall into bankruptcy
Continue learning Chinese and bring honor to my family and cow
Develop some semblance of a career plan
Read the Tokyo Ghoul manga because the anime changed my life
Finally learn how to draw anime proportions so I can bring my visions to life
Figure out how to consume tiktok at a not hours-at-a-time rate
Cure brain cancer
Become taller, or fix my posture

How To Easily Lose Weight Without Dieting
Restricting what you eat and how much you eat will not always work in your favor. Many studies have shown that restrictions of any kind are bound to fail in the long term. So, if you had previously gone on a strict diet and had some success but then bounced back to your fat weight again in a matter of weeks, you’re your own proof that restrictions don’t work!
But, fret not. You can certainly still lose a ton of weight without restrictions—all you have to do is make a few tweaks to your lifestyle. The following list of 16 simple ways will help you to lose weight without any forms of restriction. Imagine stepping on the scale and seeing your desired number pop up without depriving yourself or cutting out your favorite foods—and best of all, these terrific tips and tricks will help you achieve sustainable, long-term weight loss.
Carb Pairing trick burns 2 pounds of belly fat per day ? Click <<
1. Don’t Skip Breakfast
Contrary to popular belief, skipping meals doesn’t help you shed pounds. In fact, it’s the other way around! Skipping a morning meal causes your blood sugar to drop, making you feel hungry and sluggish throughout the morning. You’ll be more likely to binge on carb-rich or high-fat meals later on. Eating in the AM also gives your metabolism a nice boost, so you burn calories at a faster rate throughout the day.
2. Don’t Snack at Night
Do you snack when night rolls around? This destructive pattern can pack on the pounds. Your metabolism drops as you get ready to hit the pillow and catch some ZZZs. Breaking the habit can help you lose weight because you’ll end up consuming less calories throughout the day. Reduce your PM munchies by keeping your appetite under control and eating small, wholesome meals at regular intervals throughout the day. It also helps to brush your teeth after your final meal!
3. Drink More Water
Beverages besides water might taste great, but they often contain calories that add up throughout the day. These empty calories don’t affect hunger levels, so you’ll still eat as much as you would otherwise. Instead of drinking your calories, opt for good old H20. Sticking to water hydrates your body and helps it work efficiently while boosting your metabolism and curbing cravings.
4. Eat More Fruits and Vegetables
Fruits and vegetables contain tons of nutrients. Fresh produce can melt pounds by supplying you with essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber your body needs to feel fully satisfied. Thanks to their high water content, these volume-rich foods take up room in your stomach and make you feel full. Fruits and vegetables also curb your cravings for carb-laden, sugar-filled snacks, and can prevent you from mindlessly munching. Instead of filling up on meat, eat more fruits and vegetables!
5. Eat Foods Loaded With Fiber
Your ticket to a slimmer figure is fiber. Your body doesn’t actually digest fiber. Instead, the nutrient passes through the intestines, latching onto fat and calories as it leaves your system. Fiber also removes toxic waste from the colon while balancing acidity in the intestines. It also acts as a bulking agent and allows food to move through your digestive track quicker. Never underestimate the fat-burning powers of filling fiber!
6. Eat Until You Are Full
Losing weight comes down to burning more calories than you eat, which leads us to portion control. Granted, this doesn’t mean consuming teeny tiny portions of food. It involves eating just enough to feel satisfied and fully nourished. Monitoring what and how much you’re eating will tip the scales in your weight loss favor. Begin portioning your meals according to the amount of calories you should eat per day.
7. Set A Fitness Goal
Give yourself a goal of taking at least 10,000 steps per day, or running a few miles a week. Goals like these will force you to sneak more exercise into your schedule. Once you start achieving your goals and feeling victorious, you’ll likely start including them in your routine and live a more active lifestyle. There are apps you can get on your phone that count your steps.
8. Eat More Protein
Protein tames hunger and curbs cravings, keeping you feeling full throughout the day. As a result, you’ll eat less and trim calories from your menu. The slimming powers of protein work soon after leaving your plate and entering your mouth. Protein-packed foods take more energy to digest and metabolize, meaning you’ll burn calories by simply eating them!
9. Eat More Salad
Never underestimate the slenderizing powers of a nutritious salad! The leafy dish, especially when packed with fibrous, filling vegetables and lean protein, can hook you up with essential nutrients and help you achieve rapid weight loss. Keep in mind that numerous dressings are rich in calories, ultimately defeating the whole diet-friendly purpose of salad. Reach for clean, healthy vinaigrettes and dressings. Olive oil and vinegar tastes delicious and serves as a healthy alternative to store-bought dressings.
10. Keep Temptations at Bay
When it comes to weight loss, the out of sight, out of mind rule serves you well. Rid your cupboard of fatty, overly-processed snacks and keep unhealthy indulgences out of reach. For example, if that leftover birthday cake is calling your name, then pop it in the freezer or bring it to work. Keeping temptations away will keep cravings at bay.
11. Manage Your Stress
Stress can wreak havoc on your hormones, causing your body to enter fight-or-flight mode. During this response, your body releases cortisol, which stimulates insulin release and throws off your blood sugar levels. The result? Your body will latch on to every calorie consumed and your appetite will increase. Higher hunger levels and a slower metabolism don’t mix well when it comes to losing weight! Banish stress and stay calm and collected.
12. Stay Out Of Boredom
More often than not, mindless snacking comes from pure boredom. When there’s nothing to do, scoping the kitchen for something to munch on seems enticing. Instead of taking your boredom out by stocking up on calories, distract yourself by reading a book, calling a friend, or going for a walk. Research shows that cravings pass within ten minutes, so banish these cravings by using that time to do something productive!
13. Keep A Bowl Of Washed Fruits
Have fruits pre-washed and handy at all times. This will make them easier to access in times of extreme hunger! Readily-available fruits that don’t require any meal prep whatsoever will be calling your name next time you’re dealing with a grumbling tummy. When it comes to satisfying hunger while losing weight, nothing will help you slim and trim more than nutrient-rich veggies and fruit!
14. Get Enough Sleep
Sleeping at least seven hours a night helps you lose weight. Sleep deprivation triggers a series of unhealthy choices. You’re more likely to reach for that latte, turn to takeout, or skip exercise. A lack of sleep will boost your hunger hormones, eliciting intense carb cravings and the likelihood of overeating. If you want to see the numbers on your scale drop, make sure to catch enough sleep.
15. Eat Slowly
When you eat slowly, you’ll pay more attention to when you’re full. Research shows that slowing down and taking the time to enjoy each bite of food will have you consuming less overall without feeling deprived. Drink water between bites, chew mindfully, and listen to your body when it says it’s full!
One last thing… you should try this super simple morning ritual that burns 1 pound of belly fat per day…
“All this by a morning ritual?” I asked.
I met an old friend for lunch last year and I was super impressed with how she lost 72 pounds in 3 months.
She said, “It’s not so much about the the so called ritual but more about how it releases fat-blasting molecules that signal your brain and body to burn off pounds and inches of trapped fat quickly and naturally.”
Even though I was skeptical, I’ve been struggling with my weight over the last few years, so I gave it a shot and watched the same video she did.
Well, it’s only a couple weeks later and you know what they say about how “you can’t transform your body overnight”…
They’re right — it actually took me 14 days to lose 19 pounds.
Now it’s my girlfriends asking ME what I’M doing differently
Imagine your body being beach ready before Memorial Day.
Imagine enjoying the foods you love: pasta, wine, or even a dessert — completely guilt-free.
And imagine feeling good and living your life without obsessing about every single calorie you eat…
All while knowing your health is being protected by one of the most powerful natural healing rituals ever discovered.

I was tagged on this one by the sweet and super kind Sheamus @doctorqueensanatomy thanks honey this one was particularly interesting 🌸😊
Answer the 10 questions from the person tagged and then tag 10 people and ask them 10 different questions
Here we go then
1) If you came across a fortune teller that could let you know of 1 detail of anything in the future, how detailed of a question would you give, or would you ask anything at all?
Hum…. I think I would ask them a question for my sister, cause I just would like her to be happy. Or if I'm allowed only to ask for me I'd ask the day of my death so that I know how to spend my time and prepare the ones I love to grieve.
2) If there was one instrument you could master, what would it be? Don’t say an instrument you already play if you do
I can't say I master bass guitar already but I'm currently learning so I'm gonna pick drums. Cause of Rog and the connection with bass.
3) Is there a certain set of lyrics in a particular song that makes you transcend into another dimension and if so, pray tell? (And if not, then is there a song that makes you trip)
You can be anything you want to be
Just turn yourself into anything you think that you could ever be
Be free with your tempo, be free, be free
Surrender your ego be free, be free to yourself (from innuendo of course. But all the queen songs make me trip so it was hard to chose)
4) If a song played everytime you walk into a room, what song would you choose?
Good lord my mammoth steps are already loud enough ahahaha lol but seriously I would pick the song called "the throne room" from a new hope (star wars)
5) Whats the most useless thing you can do/that you know?
I can touch my head with my feet (one at a time though) and I know how to use a VCR ahahah lol
6) Is there a book you ever had to study you actually enjoyed? (I love Macbeth, Blood Brothers and An Inspector Calls)
Actually yes. Ive never been super at ease in litterature classes but the reading and studying of Frankenstein by Shelley was fascinating.
7) Name a time you felt confident and then drink some water. Now everytime you think of that confidence, drink some water. Let’s fill this house with positivity and hydration!
Okay the drinking is done lol now for the moment I felt confident…. When I said to my mom, don't worry in two weeks you're gonna be moved in your new house. Bam, done.
8) If you could add arms and legs to a fruit or vegetable and give them a name, what would they be called?
Whaaaat ? Hum okay lol i would say a strawberry and i would call them Barry. Barry the strawberry….
9) Is there a celebrity that hasn’t necessarily done anything wrong or is bad, but you just do not vibe with them? I’ll start with mine… Taylor Swift 😔
Omg yes. Kara Delevingne. I just cant. Sorry not sorry….
10) Is there a stereotype of your country, state, city, town, accent that you reject but only because it is absolutely true?
I guess I'm gonna talk about the French accent. I find it absolutely idious yet everyone seems to agree that it is cute and sexy ??? Whaaaat ?
Wow these questions were super tough but very interesting as well. Let's see what we've got here from me ….
1. What is the thing you know that is the closest to magic ?
2. Who would be the most boring fictionnal character you'd get to meet ?
3. Is there a movie or a book you feel like lied to you about growing up ? Like you were sure it would happen this way but it didn't…. ?
4. What was the most unbelievable thing you've ever believed ?
5. Would you rather be completely insane and know that you are insane or completely insane and believe you are sane?
6. If your life was a movie, what would be the soundtrack ?
7. If you could be a famous painting, what would you be and what would you change to make it fit to you ?
8. If you could have and use any kind of money, still currently used or not, what would be in your purse ?
9. We all have a "shame underwear", please describe yours.
10. If you could rebuilt one of the seven lost wonders of the world, which one would it be and why ?
Tagging : @thosequeenboys @painandpleasure86 @bohemeia @acdeaky @deakys-chesthair @deakysgurl @roger-taylors-car @queenlover05 @eileen-crys @ilygwilym @sweet-potatoq ( I hope you dont mind.... 😜) take care yall 💖💜

TOP 10 ZERO CALORIE FOODS FIT GIRLS SWEAR BY
So what’s a zero calorie food? Well these are foods that are supposed to help you burn as much calories as the food itself contains. Now there has been no studies to confirm this, but there has been plenty of research done that shows these foods do help you burn a ton of calories. Hopefully one day a study is done to prove it!
Some people go as far as to say these foods are actually negative calories. Which means you actually burn MORE calories when you eat these foods. My bet is that these foods really do what the zero calorie theorist claim… Or maybe I’m just hopeful! But I’m not on board with the negative calorie thing. Sorry. I wish though! What do you think?
But either way these foods are AMAZING! Add these into your diet and sprinkle in a little exercise and BAM… sexy body! Here are the Top 10 Zero Calorie Foods Fit Girls Swear By!
1. WATERMELON
Did you know that a watermelon is made up of 90% water? That means it’s one of the best fruits to eat when you are trying to shed some extra pounds. Watermelon contains a high amount of arginine which is an amino acid that helps you to burn fat at a rapid rate.
At just under 50 calories for a one cup serving, it’s hard to find a better food. Eating watermelon in between meals will leave you feeling full and super hydrated!
2. LEMONS
The average American drink around 21% of their daily calories. And the average calories we consume a day is around 3600, up from 2880 back in the 60’s. That’s a lot of unnecessary calories! It’s no wonder so many people are obese these days.
So lets do the math… 21% of 3600 = 756. Wow! That’s how many calories the average person drinks a day! We need to do better for real. Switching out soda, shakes, sugar filled coffees, etc. will help you lose weight dramatically. And replacing those drinks with lemon water is super amazing for your health and weight loss goals.
Just adding a couple slices to your glass of water (you should be getting about 64 oz. a day) is perfect. Besides helping you reduce your calories, lemons also vamp up your metabolism and make you feel full.
3. APPLES
An apple a day keeps the doctor away. We’ve all heard it. But did you know it can also keep the pounds away too? This fruit is packed with fiber to leave you feeling full, so you aren’t tempted to eat junk.
If you avoid apples on the go because you don’t want to hurt your gums or you don’t feel like cutting them up when you’re out, try cutting up some slices and putting it into an air tight container in the morning. Pack it in a cooler and take it with you for a snack when you start to feel just a bit hungry.
4. GRAPEFRUIT
One of my favorites! I eat half a grapefruit every morning. Several studies have shown that people who ate grapefruit before meals lost more weight than people who did not. Grapefruits contain more water than any other fruit… yes even more than watermelons.
A lot of people are actually thirsty when they think they are hungry. So eating your water is a great way to feel full since it helps to keep us from getting dehydrated.
5. BERRIES
Strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries are amazing for everything! Weight loss of course, but also for our skin and even helps protect against cancer! And in this day in age, cancer is a serious threat. The best prevention is watching what you put into your body. Our bodies are meant to thrive on natural foods, not precessed ones.
Blueberries in particular have been shown to change the way we metabolize fat and sugar. That means blueberries actually help reduce body fat. Along with a healthy diet of course. Eating a handful of berries a day and eating bad the rest of the day won’t help you in the weight loss department.
6.CUCUMBER
Cucumbers are 96% water so they are amazing for keeping you hydrated and also they are a great low calorie snack that will help speed up your metabolism. There is a high content of potassium, vitamin A and C which will help flush toxins out of your body. Which will help to get rid of some of that stubborn belly fat. Try dipping cucumber slices in hummus for a low calorie treat!
Something else I like to do is to make fruit/veggie infused ice cubes. I hate when my produce goes bad so this is the perfect way to avoid that. I chop up a cucumber and some lemons and put them in ice cube tray. Fill it up with water and let it freeze. Perfect addition to your water!
7. ZUCCHINI
Zucchini has the power to improve digestion AND slow the process of aging… all the while helping us lose weight! And it actually tastes really good too. Need more energy to get in those workouts? Zucchini has you covered there too. Since it’s loaded with B vitamins, you get more energy and an improved mood. Perfect combo to help push you closer to your weight loss goals!
I really like using zucchini in place of my pasta. You’ve probably heard of it. I did for a while but thought it’d be too different and pasta is super amazing so how could zucchini compare, right? Well I went to a restaurant one day and they had a picture of a zucchini pasta on the menu. It looked good so I tried it… and now I’m hooked!
Get a good spiralizer like this one and making your own zucchini pasta is a breeze!
8. BROCCOLI
I consider myself blessed… my 4 year old loves broccoli. Broccoli is too healthy for us to skip on. Green vegetables is where it’s at for real. It’s great for skin, eyes, preventing cancer, bone health, and yes weight loss.
Broccoli is rich in fiber and is a good carb so it helps to prevent you from overeating. It also contains protein to help build those muscles. You skinny body is not necessarily a sexy body, but a toned one is.
9. CAULIFLOWER
There is only 25 calories per cup so you can eat A LOT of cauliflower and you don’t have to worry about it making you fat. Ever heard of the cauliflower soup diet? I don’t recommend it because you miss out on so many other nutrients, but it does help people to lose a ton of weight because you can eat as much as you want of it. So…bottom line is add cauliflower into your diet and start seeing the results!
I like to cut my cauliflower up into fairly big pieces, season with salt and pepper, and stick it in the oven on 400 for about 20-25 minutes. Amazing! And so easy to make.
10. CARROTS
Who doesn’t love carrots? I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone that didn’t like them. Some people are picky on preparation, but they still like them all the same. Carrots are packed with vitamins and lots of vitamin A. Our bodies convert vitamin A from food into retinoids. Long story short… these retinoids interact positively with our fat cells and help to reduce belly fat.

Today wasnt a very good day for me. I was absolutely exhausted all day and it was miserable for me. I took multiple naps! And I still feel like garbage. It has me very on edge and Im just not having a nice time. I hope I sleep better tonight and tomorrow I feel better..
It wasnt like a bad day though besides being super tired. I woke up at 930 and was like. Not thrilled but I got up. It was good to see James.
I had breakfast and sat with him for a while. But I was so tired. So at like 1030 I went and laid down. I listented to James for a while play AC. But I just kind of dozed. I did fall asleep eventually though. James woke me up at 1245 so I wouldnt be late to my staff meeting. I got a snack and got myself ready. he was going to go for a bike ride since his wheels finally came and the sun was out. But then he couldnt find the new mask I got him. And my meeting was starting but I wanted to help try to find it but it was just gone and I was mad. Like I felt like why didnt you just put it away when I gave it to you, why was it just out to get lost. And I hated feeling so upset with him. And I felt guilty for feeling mad. He eventually gave up and just used the fabric one he had. I hope the other mask shows up. Im really frustrated that it hasnt happened.
I had my staff meeting and I was almost falling asleep the whole time. I participated but I couldnt keep my eyes open for long. Sucked.
We finished and I had an hour until the zoom class. I did a little cleaning. James got back from his ride and he was in rough shape. All flushed and having trouble breathing. We dont know what happened but he said he was just having trouble breathing and his body hurt. He probably just went to hard after over a week of no biking, and wasnt hydrated enough. I sat with him for a little because he felt so bad. But eventually he was okay enough and I finished cleaning.
The zoom class was a lot. I dont know how the daytime teachers are doing it because we have 10 people and it was kind of a mess. But it was so nice to see my kids. I hope it gets a little easier. We only have a few weeks so I hope we can get stuff done.
I finished that up and took my nail polish off. I had painted my nails a few times today but I just didnt like the colors. But I landed on this purple festive nails thing. I like it a lot. My nails have gotten really long. I love how it looks but I keep scratching myself. As soon as one breaks Ill cut them all down to match but Im enjoying it while it lasts.
I went to get the mail. It was like christmas I had so many packages. My new body wash and dry brush came. The felt letters to make my new sweatshirt came (I saw that "Anti-Flirt Club banner on a vintage page and fell in love with the phrase), and my glossier balm came. I was super excited for these. They are normally to much to justify but I got them on sale with a coupon and free shipping. I got the birthday cake that everyone always raves about, plus a coconut and a mango. The mango is my favorite!! It is such a strong but real fruit smell. Its like. Ritas water ice mango. I love it. The coconut didnt smell like much at first but once I put it on it was like toasted coconut and it is just super nice. The birthdaycake is also good. Its almost like a sweet vanilla. It reminds me of lipbalms from when I was a kid or like a vanilla tootsie roll. They are all lovely though and I will probably buy them again. Not that I should need it for a while but still. Very pleased.
I boiled some potatoes and James roasted them for me. They came out really good. Boiling them first really helped with the crispy aspect. I had those for dinner and then I was just kind of chilling laying in the studio. SweetP came and joined me and we dozed until like 8.
I got up and felt alright. I have just been very woozy today. I played ac for a little. James is making bread and talking to his first on the phone. And I am ready to go wash my face and get ready to get some sleep.
I hope I feel better tomorrow. I hope to wake up early and clean the apartment and do some organizing. I hope I can find James's mask. Were going to work on some lesson plans and I hope to make another craft project. I gotta look through my idea board on pinterest. I also want to work on the train a little too. The painting part. Well see.
I hope you all have a great night and a very good day tomorrow. Take care of yourselves.

Review of Skin79′s Seoul Girls Beauty Secret Mask in Wrinkle Care
Skin79 is a well-known Korean brand that started in the 90s and became popular for its BB creams. Their Seoul Girl's Beauty Secret Mask comes in several types including this one, wrinkle care, soothing (review), and others. This mask is meant to represent timeless Korean beauty by focusing on keeping skin and elastic. Key ingredients include hibiscus flower extract (encourages fresher and younger skin, anti-acne, increases cell turnover, prevents the breakdown of collagen and elastin, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory), gingko biloba leaf extract (anti-aging, cleaning, antioxidant, unclogs pores, anti-wrinkle, and fine lines), witch hazel extract (promotes faster skin healing, soothing, refreshing) and aloe leaf extract (anti-aging, moisturizing, lightens blemishes and reduces acne, healing, reduces scarring). This product retails for between $2-3 USD, you can get 3 pieces here for $5.99 + shipping.
Ingredients
Water, Glycerin, Alcohol, Betaine, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Carbomer, Polysorbate 80, Caprylyl Glycol, Tromethamine, Adenosine, Allantoin, Butylene Glycol, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Hibiscus Sabdariffa (Roselle) Flower Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Propanediol, Disodium EDTA, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Morus Alba (White Mulberry) Bark Extract, Coix Lacryma-Jobi Ma-yuen (Adlay) Seed Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Fragrance
This product contains 20 grams (0.70 oz) and doesn't have much of a scent.
The mask itself is made of cotton and saturated with essence. It also has a great fit and I didn't need to adjust it too much. It's not super thin or super thick.
Recommended use is after cleansing, use toner. Open the pouch, apply the mask sheet to match the shape of your face. Leave it for 10-20 minutes and then remove and gently tap the remaining essence into the skin. It's designed for all skin types. After using, I found this to be a very pleasant mask. It doesn't have much of a scent at all and the mask was pretty comfortable and saturated in essence. There are some great ingredients in here and I didn't notice any irritation, though I do seem to have issues with things getting too close to my under eyes. After taking it off my skin felt very smooth and hydrated. My skin felt more plump and smooth and it's really ideal for any skin type. I'd recommend this to people with aging skin as well as to people with dry and dehydrated skin and even to people with sensitive skin.
What I like: this mask is very soothing and non-irritating. It is hydrating and has some great ingredients. It's really nice for all skin types as it doesn't overdo the moisturization and it's pretty gentle so it's good for even sensitive skin. It also does a good job of plumping and leaving skin smoother. What I don't like: nothing really, it's a good mask.
Pros:
Hydrating
Soothing
Smoothing
Plumps skin
Good for all skin types
No real scent
Comfortable
Lots of essence
Nice ingredients
Cons:
None
Would I buy again?
Yes
Rating: 10/10

I'm having bad anxiety so I'm just going to answer these questions rn
Okay so when having anxiety I over think and I barely have any friends so I thought if using these questions to keep my mind off things and it kinda works it's also why some are long because I'm trying my best to think about other things then my stress. 1. hoodies are good for when you dont have a bra on and they come with one BIG pocket and you dont need to worry about a shirt
2. Leather jackets are for cool kidz and carry a nice vibe and still thick enough to keep you warm , but you can't really get them wet I think so you can't wash em , but they can come with cool designs on the back but their better fitted on perfectly on a person and if you grow they just look odd on you then you have to buy another and that's not fun
3.Bomber jacket , it's a whole style but one I try to pull of but just cant do it well
4.Cardigans kinda umm not a fan but good if your wearing a dress that's shows your shoulders and you are insecure about that being shown. Remember when somewhere in the 2000s they told us that cardigans where so easy to put on and throw more into your outfit so people bought quit a few. I do

You struggle to walk in heels. Nah, I love heels. Even if a certain pair is a bitch to wear, I’d try to power through and I’d wanna look like I’m killing it wearing them. You talk on the phone a lot. Yes, but with just Gab. We call each other up most days. You consider yourself to be pretty extroverted. I can be! Getting to college definitely taught me how to like talking to people more and I have no problem with initiating conversations or doing small talk these days. I’d consider myself like 90% extroverted; the remaining 10% is for those times I still prefer to have all to myself, which is a part of me I know I’ll never lose. You know how to sew. Nah, home ec lessons can fuck right off. I’ll leave the sewing and crocheting skills to my girlfriend. You know how to play a woodwind instrument. Does the recorder count? I mean I think almost everyone can play it as it’s a super basic instrument, but still.
You swear a lot. It’s a habit. I do choose the people I swear around though; I wouldn’t do it in front of kids or with people I’m not necessarily close with. You're a smoker. I vape. You're allergic to penicillin. I dunno. I’ve never been exposed to it, I think. Someone in your immediate family is in a wheelchair. No, no one from my extended family either. You play a lot of video games. I watch a lot of playthroughs, but I don’t play them myself because I am just terrible at them. You've never been on a train. I’ve been on a train once, and it was for an assignment and someone was with me the whole time. It was at a dead hour too, so I didn’t really get the full experience of riding a train in the Philippines. You don't like raisins. I HATE RAISINS You're not a very romantic person. I’m very conscious about PDA but I can be affectionate in many other ways. You're homosexual or bisexual. Am neither. There was one point I believed I was bi, but in the end it all boiled down to me being demisexual. Beer is your alcoholic beverage of choice. Fuuuuuuuuuuuck beer, and I’ll never get tired of saying that. Your favourite colour to wear is red. I look good in red but it’s not really my favorite color to wear. You've talked someone out of suicide. No. I wouldn’t want to be put in that situation either; not because I wouldn’t want to help, but because I’m unfit myself and I wouldn’t know if the things I would say would be helpful or just do more harm. You wear a ring on your left ring finger. I don’t. Yet. You've never had detention in school. But this is because we never adopted that concept here. Like I said, I’ve never fully grasped what detention is and what they make you do when you’re in it. Maybe someone can help a clueless Asian out here, haha. You've dated someone with a full beard. I’ve never been with a guy, and Gab doesn’t grow a beard. You have a pair of fluffy dice in your car. No, and wouldn’t want that decoration either. You've been tested for STIs. No, but I definitely should just to be sure. You've written someone a love letter. Once, three years ago. I really should do it more. Your favourite film genre is horror. I appreciate horror A LOT and at one point it was my favorite genre. It’s since been overruled by drama. You currently live in a country you weren't born in. Born, raised, and currently living in the Philippines. You don't like wearing hats. I know they’d look cute on me but it makes me feel like people can’t see me, so I always unconsciously take them off because they feel weird. Your blood type is O+. (???) Dude, I have no idea what my blood type is. I don’t think my parents are sure either. You prefer fruits over vegetables. Nah nah nah I hate fruits. You work/have worked in a hotel. No. My parents have worked in hotels all their lives though; they met while working in the same one in the 1990s. My dad has worked in a cruise ship since the 2000s but that still technically counts as a hotel-centric workplace. You enter the lottery regularly. I never have. You have a boyfriend or girlfriend. A girlfriend. You have had sex within the last week. I mean...this is one entry I don’t need to delve more into haha. You get sick often. I never get sick and if I do the fever typically just lasts a few hours. You're close with your siblings. I’m close with my sister. I haven’t talked to my brother in months. You're a pretty paranoid kind of person. It’s part anxiety and part slightly inheriting my mother’s very real OCD problems. You prefer vanilla over chocolate. Mmmmm not really. Vanilla takes like nothing to me D: Idk if it’s meant to taste like that or if I’ve just had cheap vanilla all my life. You own a lava lamp. I don’t but I had a hipster phase when I was like 12 where a lava lamp was all I wanted. Obviously my mom never got me one cos it seemed like such a waste of money, and looking back on it nine years later, it most definitely would have been. You can't whistle. I can. You've had your stomach pumped. No. I don’t even know how that works and I hope I never need that procedure, cos it sounds complicated and terrifying. You don't use emojis when you text. I know most people get paranoid from emoji-less messages, so I kinda just do my part in making them feel better by using emojis. You remember seeing the events of 9/11 on television as it happened. I was too young to have memories from 9/11; I was three and didn’t really watch news back then. You always stay hydrated. Yesssssss. I love my water and it’s also a basic form of skincare, so. You have at least one child. No kids. Your hair is shorter than shoulder length. It’s longer than that now, but I really should give it a trim soon. You're at least 21 years old. Yay I can finally answer this with a yes! You're an opinionated person and stick to your guns no matter what. Yes, unless someone can show me a better and more critical argument. I’m open to hearing them out and reconsidering by then; but until then, I like sticking to my beliefs. You share a bed with someone else every night. I sleep alone. You know how to drive. It’s how I get around places. You're currently wearing an article of clothing that doesn't belong to you. The sweater I have on belongs to Gab, but it’s been with me for three years. You are friends with a lot of people you work with. It makes the work more enjoyable when you like the people you hang out with. :) You shower twice or more each day. It’s a no for me. Once would be enough. You're friends with your boss. JM is technically my boss, and we’re good friends. You've made your own clothes before. Never have; I’m not creative enough (or at all) for that. You have/had braces. I did, back in high school. I just had them for a year and a half. You have two or more ex partners. Nope, just the one. You have a biblical middle name. I’m sure Isabelle didn’t come from the Bible. You've cheated on someone. N e v e r. You mop/vacuum the floors in your house once a week. My mom prefers to do all the cleaning stuff around the house. You have dandruff. There’s really nothing I can say about this other than I don’t, lol. Your parents are religious people. My mom is massively religious, enough to drive me insane. I don’t get my dad though; he told me he was atheist when he was in college, he sympathizes with me whenever I grumble about our family going to mass every Sunday, and he doesn’t mind when I use my phone in church, but sometimes I’ll see him singing along to church hymns. I don’t pry though and I’m just glad he’s on my side whenever I bitch about having to sit in church for an hour. You work/have worked in fast food. I have not tried this. You live near a national park. I live very far from Luneta, which is I think the only national park we have. You're a flirty kind of person. As a demisexual, the idea of being flirty is a horrifying prospect to me. You've never dyed your hair. It would terrify my mom, plus I’m about to graduate college so it’s a little too late to experiment with hair dye now. You've been to Arizona. I have not. You listen to a lot of country music. I hate this genre. You listen to a lot of pop music. Yeah I’m a pretty basic bitch lol You exercise several times a week. Just for this semester because I’m taking PE. In fairness, our instructor is a very good coach so I’m pretty open to still continue doing the workouts once the sem ends. You can do at least 10 pull-ups. I couldn’t before, but my PE class taught me how to haha. You travel primarily by bus. I can drive, so I don’t really need to take the bus. You prefer hot weather over cold weather. Ugh noooooo I hate feeling hot. I’d rather feel uncomfortably cold all year round than uncomfortably hot and sweaty. You've never been to IKEA. We don’t have IKEA. You're more creative than you are logical. I have zero creativity in my system. You've been in trouble with the police. Not with the police per se but I’ve had traffic enforcers pull me over for various ‘violations.’ You have something more important to be doing right now. It’s 1:42 AM. That important thing I should be doing right now is sleeping, but I had coffee earlier and don’t really feel like doing that at the moment.
You share a lot of your looks/appearance with your siblings. I’m the feminine version of my brother. I’m not sure if I look anything like my sister though. You've been in an open relationship. No. And I’ll never entertain the thought. You had beef for dinner last night. I’ve skipped dinner for two nights in a row, because my toothaches are really bad :( You live with roommates. I live with my immediate family. I live fairly close to my school (close enough to be able to drive there, anyway), so I’ve never had to move into a dorm or condo. You drink alcohol at least once a week. I drink a lot whenever I get to but I only do it once a month or once every two months. You have to go to work tomorrow. Nope. It’ll be the 3rd day of my 5-day weekend, so I’ve still got a lot of time to rest up :) You have taken acting classes. Acting is so not my forte. Your favourite kind of juice is cranberry. I don’t really like juice. You lost your virginity at the age of 16. 18. You're close with your cousins. I’m close with my cousins on my mom’s side. Not so much on my dad’s, but I did play a lot with them growing up; we just became less close as we got older because they eventually moved to Laguna and I saw them less and less. You have family who live in England. I don’t think I have family living in Europe. You've had a blood test. When I was confined in the hospital when I was 11, they did several blood tests on me to check my platelet count. You know someone who has two parents of the same sex. Nah, there’s a small chance of that happening here. I wish I knew someone, though.
You know how to do karate. I never took lessons. You've never had a pet dog. I have one snoring under my bed right now. Your current partner if you have one is your college/high school sweetheart. It’s a corny term, but yeah you can call her that. You have a cool scar. (?) I’m not sure almost being blinded by a glass jar to the eye is a cool scar story to tell. You've considered joining your country's army. No. You live near a very large body of water such as the ocean or a lake. Mmm not really, I live in a very urbanized area. I’ve never experienced living close to the sea, but I imagine it would be very peaceful. You watch and follow motorsports. Never have. Your mother was under the age of 20 when she was pregnant with you. Nope, she was 26. You're allergic to some kind of vegetable. I don’t have any allergies. You hate wearing socks to bed. Yessss, it feels itchy and it feels like my skin is being suffocated hahaha so I take them off. You play a lot of board games. Nothing against board games, I just don’t play them a lot. You know someone personally who was born in Japan. That’s a good possibility, but I just wouldn’t know who. You always keep spare change handy. In a place like UP where everything is cheaper, it helps tons to keep some change. Your house has three or more bedrooms. We have four bedrooms. You weigh less than you want to weigh. I’m a little less than 100 lbs, but I do wish I was at a healthier weight because I’m underweight.
You prefer tampons over pads (if you're a female who menstruates). I’ve never tried tampons and the idea of wearing it sounds like such a horrifying prospect for me hahaha. For context, pads are the (very very dominant) norm here and I literally know 0 menstruating people who use tampons. You've had sex while menstruating or had sex with someone while they were. I’m obviously not gonna share the story on here lol but it was purely an accident and I’ve made sure it never happened again. Your parents live in a different country than you. My dad has worked in different countries my whole life, but he comes back home every few months. You've been banned from a store or other location/venue. My friends and I were kicked out of a McDonald’s once for making a lot of noise, but we weren’t banned. You like to cook with a crockpot/slow cooker. I don’t cook. You have a clock radio in your bedroom. The only clocks I have are the ones on my laptop and phone.

How I Ate During College
Since winter is here, the government shutdown is happening, new semesters have started and the like, I thought I might share what helped me during my time at college when money was low and food needed to be eaten. I’ll put it under a read more just in case.
I also implore everyone to look around their campus for some sort of Dollar Tree/General/Dollar Store type place. Never be ashamed to shop here. Based on my personal experience, most of the items I talk about here are available at these places (sometimes even in sets or small bulks) and... well, it’s food.
Please keep in mind, these are the methods that worked for me (and my roommates.) I can’t promise this is a “fix all” situation, but it may help you save money and give you meals when you need it most.
I didn’t mention frozen/tv dinners from the Dollar Store on here, but keep in mind, those aren’t bad ideas either if you have a proper means of storing them.
Ramen Noodles - just the noodles (the important information is in the details)
I know this is a bit of a “staple” but hear me out. When my family lived in California, we were broke as fuck. We didn’t have a lot of money and spending it was a long, coupon-intensive, very careful thing. Ramen noodles are a god-send. The noodles are cheap, and no rule says you need to use the salty flavour packet that comes with them.
If you buy a few packets of ramen noodles (that generally retail somewhere between 10-30 cents, you’ve got a single meal in that packet of noodles. Sometimes two if you’re like me and have a tiny stomach.
Things that can be added to ramen noodles:
- Spaghetti sauce: any jar of spaghetti sauce can make you about 10 servings of spaghetti if you’re using Ramen noodles. If you’ve got a microwave (or your roommate does) then you can even warm it all up a second time once it’s done. (To my knowledge, most universities offer some sort of kitchen/warm water access/microwave in a lobby and/or kitchen area of some sort. But again, assuming you or your roommate have one, that’s a bonus and one less trip.)
- Cheese: shredded cheese, if you watch it, goes on sale a lot. I never really noticed this UNTIL college, but it makes a surprisingly good addition to noodles. Cheese is, of course, by your choice and by a sale if you do not like the spaghetti sauce method.
- Fruits and/or veggies: Canned or fresh. Again, this is up to you. A lot of times, you can buy quite a few of the “choose your own” veggies for a decent price. I know green beans aren’t exactly the “go to” for favourite veggies, but they are lightweight and you can get quite a few for cheap. Veggies mix well into noodles, and that’s more nutrition for you.
- Canned Tuna or Chicken: This is another one that’s nice; especially when you only use a portion of the can in your serving of noodles. It fills you up a little more while giving the noodles some flavour and still sticking to something you can preserve in your roommate’s fridge (i.e - the tuna/chicken you don’t use for one meal.) This is, admittedly, a little more time sensitive. You’ll be having tuna/chicken noodles for a few days, but it IS food and it is something more filling than nothing at all.
Hot Beverage of choice (Dollar Store recommended)
Never underestimate the value of a warm drink. Especially in the cold. Hot cocoa, tea, coffee, etc. These can almost always be bought at Dollar Stores in some sort of “instant” form. Even if that hot cocoa tells you to make it with milk, fuck that. Yes, it’s “creamier” but it works just as well with hot water. It warms you up, helps fill you up, and it does give you something other than just water to drink. Tea and coffee will always be the healthier choices, but chocolate has always proven to be a comfort, especially when it’s warm.
Warm drinks make a perfect study companion or even just something gentle and warm to hold and sip while you’re stressed. This one is, of course, optional, but I can’t tell you how many times a hot drink helped me calm down or saved my sanity during a stressful time or study binge. Not to mention it’s easy -- water, mug/cup, powder, stir, good.
Malt-o-Meal Cereal (I.E - generic cereal)
No matter where you shop, generally, if you go to the cereal aisle and ignore all the name-brand boxes, you’ll stumble across these big-ass bags of cereal with familiar shapes and looks, but weird-ass names.
Trust me when I say, this bag is worth if if cereal is your game. Not only are they MUCH bigger than those cardboard boxes (and usually go for the same price or even lower) there is a LOT of cereal in those bags. Yes, it’s generic, and yes, it may taste slightly different, but I promise you, it’s rarely ever bad. If it LOOKS like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, the biggest difference may only be that it’s slightly less cinnamon-y.
Cereal can be eaten with or without milk (almond milk, soy milk, etc.) Granted, some cereals taste better dry than others, but in the end, it is a meal and I would frequently say “forget it” toss a bunch of cereal into my Dollar Store ziploc baggy and I’ve have something to snack on during classes for most of the day.
Water Bottle - Hard, reusable, plastic, etc.
This one will be a little more pricey at times, but trust me when I say this item is so very worth it. All university campuses have water fountains. All bathrooms have sinks. I know that some areas (coughcoughFLINTPLSHELPFLINTcoughcough) don’t have access to fresh water right now, but if your campus offers it, get yourself a good water bottle that you can safely reuse. Water will keep you hydrated. Don’t neglect this. I ended up in the ER twice during my university years (thank you parent’s insurance) because I neglected liquids and ended up dehydrating myself. It was terrible.
Powder Drinks (following up the above)
This goes hand-in-hand with the suggestion above. Dollar Stores (and grocery stores) always carry something like this Country Time lemonade thing here. This one happens to retail for $2.50. However, when you are only using a 1-3 spoonfuls (depending on the size of your water bottle) you’re going to have that container for a VERY long time. (And they don’t spoil for a SUPER very long time. Perks.)
I once made one of these amazing little containers last me three semesters (1.5 years.) I didn’t need to use it sparingly either. I just happened to enjoy a lot of lemonade during that time when water was driving me wild. The same rule goes for things that come in a similar container -- strawberry Lemonade, some Kool-Aids, fruit punch, etc.
MAC AND CHEESE!!!
This one SAVED me. If you want to go with the boxes, that’s fine. Individual Microwave Cups? Those work too. Even if you just use the box version, it can all be prepared in a microwave and, holy shit, does it work.
Personally, I was lucky enough I had access to the individual microwave cups. Those were easier for me. Even if you don’t use the cheese powder, you’ve got noodles and you can follow the same idea as Ramen (hot water and something to mix in.)
When I was in college, I would buy canned tuna (sometimes chicken) and mix it into the individual cups with the cheese. not only was it more nutritious, it was more filling. Yes, it sounds REALLY WEIRD, I get looks of disgust every single time I try to mention it to someone, but damn, it’s better than it sounds and it works so well.
Generally, I would either portion the tuna/chicken can into halves or quarters per-cup, depending on how hungry I was. The meat would go in after I got the mac & cheese ready, mix it all together, good to go.
OPTIONAL ADDITIONS:
- packet of mayo and/or mustard to taste. - a little salt if that’s your gig.
Most of the time, I would put some condiments or swipe packets of sugar/salt from the cafeteria. Generally they had some sort of cup you could put ketchup or mustard or whatever in for taking to the table with you. I’d fill one up with what I needed and sneak it out carefully in a pocket, wrapped in a napkin. (or just walk boldly out and no one stopped me because it was literally just a condiment, but.) I don’t know your campus rules/how your eatery is set up.
Also, I know some campuses use like... glass/reusable sauce cups. Please return those after you empty them. It’s good for the environment and... polite. I know my campus used ALL washable dishes. I ended up swiping an entire set of silverware (a fork, knife, and spoon) to use in my dorm and then at the end of the year I returned them. But that’s off topic.
PEANUT BUTTER AND BREAD
Never underestimate the filling value of peanut and/or nut butters. Peanut butter tends to run cheaper, but I know nut allergies are out there and sometimes almond butter or another type of “nut butter” is better for you.
Dollar Stores generally have several different types of bread, with the more generic brands running you $1.00-$1.50.
Most loaves of bread get you about 18/19 slices of bread. That’s 9 sandwiches. Put some nut butter in there, not only are you getting proteins, but nut butters are very filling. And they last quite a while. You can slather some nut butter on both sides of the bread, and BOOM. You have a filling sandwich.
Though... you will need a drink with it. Nut butters DO tend to make you thirsty. A small bummer, but it will fill you up.
(Nut butters and breads also do not require refrigeration if you and/or your roommate don’t have one. Or if the house doesn’t have one working in general, but you catch my drift. Jellies/jams are also available at Dollar locations, but that is a bonus if you can afford it and/or want to treat yourself. They tend to need the chill, however.)
OATMEAL
Personally, not my favourite because I don’t like the texture, but it has a shitload of flavours, only needs hot water to prepare, and can be bought for cheap in bulk. It can be bought in a container (usually 18oz or bigger) or in boxes of packets (7-10ct seems the average for non-value packs.) Which you buy is a matter of preference. I found the packets easier since it wasn’t my favourite or a “go-to” meal.
Oatmeal is fairly self-explanatory though, so I apologise this section is small.
(It is, however, another thing you can add “extras” into such as a sliced banana, strawberries, and various fruits. Even a dash of cinnamon can help make and oatmeal fantastic. These are, however, extras, and something to consider if your budget allows it. Though I stress the ‘extra’ part. They are not required to make oatmeal good.)
Also there is still that oatmeal out there where the heat of your water can make the little sugar-eggs hatch into dinosaurs. DINOSAURS!
Bananas and apples can be bought for a few cents as a single item (one banana, one apple, etc) and with apples especially, you can split them between two bowls. Yes, your apple will turn a little brown, but store it in a Dollar Store Ziploc and you’ll have some extra to add to your next bowl. Brown just means it has gotten oxygen. I would not stretch the same apple across more than a day or two, however.
(Again, this is an “extra” to the oatmeal, but it can be more filling.)
Grain/Chewy Bars.
For me, I generally went with Nature Valley and Fruit & Grain bars. Nature Valley especially because those tend to come in counts of 24 for somewhere between $3-$5. I don’t know the generic version of Nature Valley off the top of my head, but by all means, if that is cheaper, go for it. Generic is good. Generic is just as tasty as name brand. The only major difference is the name. Don’t be ashamed of it.
These are good snacks or sides to any of the above mentioned ideas. They give you a little more in the nutrient department and they’re easy to grab and go if you need something quick to eat. (These are also wise choices to add nut butters on if the flavour allows it. Even MORE filling. And filling is what we want.)
