@sunsetuniverse and I fell into the Dadneto trenches together nearly 2 years ago exactly and I have loved every moment of it. Everything I make I make for them: every fic and animatic and edit. I love them so much, and they’re gonna tell me I’m being a sap but I don’t care (I LOVE YOU SUNSET!!! 💛💛💛)

The Goodbye Spider-Son Protocol

Summary: Peter has been struggling with the death of his mentor, but even from beyond the grave Tony always knew how to help.

OR

A little fic about Tony leaving Peter a private video message like everyone else got in Endgame.

It had been a few weeks since Peter had left the lakehouse with a chunk of his heart missing, he knew time was passing but it was flowing on without him.

He could tell from May's anxious looks and frequent phone calls to Happy and Miss Potts that they were concerned, but he wasn't sure what he could do about it.

One moment he was on Titan with Mr. Stark and then he was dust. The next he was being dragged through a portal to a battle full of aliens and heros and Mr. Stark was on his knees as he snapped.

Peter had heard the click of his fingers, he had felt the vibrations as a sense of rightness seemed to click. 

He remembered pleading with Mr. Stark and Rhodey and Pepper holding him close as everyone gathered around his mentor as his eyes closed and Peter's heart shattered.

He remembered and continued to see it every night when he closed his eyes as Mr. Stark's final moments greeted him on repeat as he dreamt.

It had been another few weeks of Peter floating through their new apartment before May suggested he head to the Lake House with Happy for the weekend. Peter knew the adults were concerned, but he didn't have it in him to care. 

The drive was long and Peter could see as Happy kept starring at him in his rearview mirror, eyes full of concern. But, Peter ignored them and continued to stare out the window as the drove down the highway and cars raced past them.

Before he knew it they were pulling off the highway and onto the country roads Peter knew would lead to the lake and the cabin.

Peter wondered if he would view the place differently if it wasn't where he had said his final goodbyes to Mr. Stark, if he had known it before when it's inhabitants were full of life and not missing their final piece.

Alas, he would never know.

Peter might not have been enjoying his time at the cabin, but it was certainly better at keeping him distracted compared to his apartment. Here, Morgan was always asking him to play monster or color in her new coloring books.

But, it was once the lights were dimmed and Morgan was in bed that the bearest smile graced his lips.

When he had arrived, Pepper had extended an invitation to Tony's lab and said Peter was welcome to anything in there.

Lab time with Tony was familiar, a comfort, so once night arrived and his eyes had refused to stay closed Peter had decided to see what the lab had to offer. 

Pepper had warned him that it was nothing like the Tower or Compounds lab and that this was more like an elaborate garage, but Peter's interest was still spiked for the first time in weeks.

As he tip toed down the steps and was faced with the glass door to enter all Peter could do was smile. The garage had tools scattered all over with a car Tony must have been in the middle of restoring pushed off to the side. The workbenches were full of blueprints and models with no sense of organization.

Entering his code and stepping inside Peter let out a breath.

It felt in a little ways like coming home.

For awhile Peter wandered the garage and glanced over everything Tony had left incompleted and scattered. As he approached the back wall he noticed it was more than a wall, it was a display. Inside was his first suit stood proudly on display like a memorial. It was full of tears and scorch marks and Peter let a few sudden tears roll down his face.

Why did Mr. Stark keep it, he thought, he could have sworn he'd hrown it away after the fight with the Vulture.

Looking closer, Peter can see that it isn't only his old suit on display, it also looks like a few new ones are too. The whole wall is full of both old and new Spider-Man suits and Peter isn't sure how to feel.

Why had he kept making him suits even after he was gone?

"Friday?" He asks, hoping the AI will be able to provide some answers.

"Hello Peter," She greets him, her steady voice echoing across the unusually silent lab. "You have a message from Karen, would you like me to connect her for you?"

Peter stays quiet for a moment, unsure of what to say. What message could Karen have for him, he hasn't used the suit since the battle.

"Uh, sure," He says, taking a seat on a nearby stool.

"Hello Peter," Karen says, her voice full of her usual warmth but lacking her normal cheer. 

"What's the message Karen?" Perer asks, cutting straight to the point.

"The Goodbye Spider-Son Protocol released a video message from Mr. Stark for you, would you like me to play it now for you?"

Once more, Peter froze. A message from Mr. Stark? He knew that before the funeral there had been some sort of will read for Tony's family, but no one had told him about it so he had assumed it wasn't meant for him. Had Mr. Stark left him a message afterall?

Unable to speak, Peter just nodded his head. Friday must have picked up his movements with her sensors as moments later a hologram is emitted from one of the holotables and Peter is once more face to face with his mentor.

"Hey kid," Tony greets, his eyes seeming to unknowingly meet Peter's. "We have a crazy plan, one that will hopefully end with you in my arms and us marathoning the new Star Wars in no time.

But, just in case I wanted to make a little video should something get screwed up. The most important thing for me to tell you is this: I love you. Getting to know and mentor you was one of the greatest privleges of my life and I cannot believe the kid you have grown into. You are going to go on and do incredible things, I just know it. You are smart and brave and kind and the world is lucky to have you Peter Parker, I'm lucky to have you. You are so increibly good and I hope that never changes. You deserve happiness Peter, please remember that.

And, whatever happens at this battle it isn't your fault, if you are seeing this then I am probably gone, but I want you to know I don't regret it for a second. It's been over five years since I lost you and my heart still hasn't recovered. With this plan I'm going to fix it and bring you back, no matter what it takes.

So, kid, I love you and don't ever forget it." 

With those final words the hologram froze and tears came rushing down Peter's cheeks.

Peter wasn't sure what he was going to do next, he wasn't sure how he was going to tell Pepper about the message come morning, but one thing he did know was the crack in his heart may not have been erased completely, but the littlest bit of it had begun to heal with Tony's final message.

Note: A quick fic, lots of dialogue, about what if Kate didn't go to the Barton Farm for Christmas and instead stayed in the city to handle the mess of her Mothers arrest. Inspired by prompts supplied by the always amazing @superherotiger.

Summary: Kate’s life had been a whirlwind the last week and standing in her Mother’s office as the police tore it to shreds searching for evidence really seemed to sum it up pretty well. One thing she wasn't expecting was the clattering of nails on the tile and the jingle of metal hitting metal as Lucky came running to greet her.

Kate’s life had been a whirlwind the last week and standing in her Mother’s office as the police tore it to shreds searching for evidence really seemed to sum it up pretty well. Slowly but surely they began to leave with their arms full of boxes of evidence, the once sophisticated room now a mere shred of what it once was. 

And yet, Kate remained frozen, unable to follow as this was the first time she had entered the office since her Mother’s arrest. 

Her mother had been arrested and was surely going to jail for the rest of her life and Kate was scared and resigned, and some part of her even felt vindicated that this is what her Mother deserved. The other part? All it wanted was to turn back the clock to the start of the week when her largest concern was her lack of credit cards. 

Overall, Kate just wanted her Mom- she didn’t want to be alone. 

A clang of a metal drew Kate from her stupor as Lucky came barreling into her legs. Bending over she laid her knee on the ground to rest her forehead against the dogs’ in a gentle gesture of comfort.

“Hi buddy.” She whispered.

“Thought you could use some company.” Said a voice from the hallway causing Kate to look up from her position on the floor to see Clint leaning against the doorway. 

“Clint?” She said, standing up. “What are you doing here?”

“The kids thought we needed to continue our New York trip and who was I to disagree? They even convinced Laura to come.” He said as he crossed the entryway, officially joining her in the room in disarray.

“They needed to see Rogers again that soon?” She joked, avoiding his eyes as they searched the room before landing on her.

This wasn’t supposed to happen, Clint was supposed to go back to his family and celebrate Christmas with them and she was supposed to be an adult and spend the week straightening her life out before she had to get it together and be ready to lead Bishop Security. Who cared if she finished college? There was a whole company of people relying on her decisions and if she made the wrong ones the company would go broke and she would have to lay people off and then it would be all her fault.

So, it was time to be an adult. 

She must have missed his reply as the next thing she knew she was sitting at her mothers desk chair with Clint on his knees in front of her talking about some movie the kids made him watch last night and how obnoxious Cooper and Lila had been to one another the entire time.

She looked down and saw he was running his thumbs over her hands soothingly as they rested in his own as he spoke.

“You back with me Katie?” He questioned as she started to pull her hands away before he gripped them tight and looked up at her, a tight smile on his face.

“Yeah..” She muttered out, as she stood up, pulling her hands away from him gently. She wasn’t quite sure what had happened. All she knew was she was supposed to be adulting up and figuring this whole life thing out but all she really wanted to do was cry.

She started pacing across the office, ignoring the looks he was shooting at her as she started to make a mental list of things that needed done once Clint left.

“Anyway, you should be getting back to your kids and I have about a hundred emails I need to get a head start on before everyone is back in office come-”

“Kate.” Clint said, cutting her off before standing in front of her once again, “I’m exactly where I need to be. You need to stop thinking and breathe for a second and then you need to relax. No one is going to be back at work for a few days and you need to take a second to process everything, you are going to run yourself into the ground if you don’t slow down.” He finished, hands reaching across the gap between them to rest gently on her shoulders.

The gentle touch seemed to be the last straw because before she knew it there were tears welling in her eyes and Clint was pulling her head down to rest against his shoulder.

“Let it out Katie, it’s okay, I’m not going anywhere. I’ve got you.” He said on repeat, running his hands up and down her back, the first comforting touch it felt like she had received in days.

“I’m scared,” She whispered into his shoulder, not sure if she could voice the thought that hadn’t left her alone for days any louder. She wasn’t sure what she was going to do without her Mom, she was always there, a layer of safety that protected her from the world and now there was only Kate to face the world head on and she wasn’t ready. She didn’t want to be alone.

Clint continued to rub her back as she began to calm down, the nerves setting in when she realized she would have to look him in the eye after she sobbed into his shoulder. 

“Hey,” Clint said before she could try and brush the whole thing off. “Let’s get Lucky and we can hop on the subway for old times sake and you can join the kids, Laura and I at our hotel for the week? You need a break and Nathaniel really wants to meet Lucky.”

“I don’t want to impose-” She argued, she didn’t want him to think he had to be responsible for her, she wasn’t his a child- she didn’t need to be coddled despite what a part of her wanted. 

“You aren’t imposing and I’m serious, let’s grab your stuff and get out of here. I’ll come back with you in a few days and help you straighten this all out but you need to think about something else besides work for a bit, kid.” He said, looking straight at her so there would be no confusing his words.

Without waiting for a response he slung his arm over her shoulder and began leading her out the door, grabbing her duffle from the floor just outside the office before letting out a quick whistle, summoning Lucky to her other side. 

“Let’s go home.” He said, leading her further down the hall towards the elevator and out the building.

It was a short walk to the subway and a few people had done double takes when they had seen not Clint’s face, but her own, as it had been blasted all over the news the last few days next to her Mother’s.

Kate was grateful that once they were at the platform everyone seemed more engrossed in themselves and ready to ignore her, it had only been a few days and the starres were already on her last nerve. It seemed like everytime she went outside she had someone taking her photo or looking at her like she was some anomaly. 

The downside to the subway was the mass amounts of people, but in a way it made it slightly easier to blend in. As their train came to a stop and a few people hopped off, Clint started to shuffle her forward, a steady hand on her back as she held tight to Lucky’s leash. Stepping on the train she glanced around before letting out a small sigh. There were no seats in sight, standing it was for today. 

“We should have taken a Taxi,” She muttered, hoping to lighten the mood a bit with a quick joke. It appeared to have had the intended effect as Clint let out a small laugh under his breath before shuffling closer to the doorway.

He nodded at her before motioning towards himself and the space he had emptied for her so that she could stand a little closer to him instead of the strangers she was surrounded by.

She returned his nod with a quick nod of her own before stepping into the space and letting out a sigh of her own at the feeling of having a bar to her back instead of a stranger's gaze.

As she began to relax, the emotions of the day starting to overwhelm her she stepped into his space once more to lean her head against his waiting shoulder. 

“I gotcha Katie.” He said.

And, finally, a part of her was starting to believe it. They may have started out rough, but now Clint was all she had left.

If there was one downside Erik had discovered, to having a speedster as a son it was the boy’s energy levels. It seemed like he never ran out of energy. It was 8 pm, a completely respectable time for any 4-year-old to be in bed. At least, Erik thought so. Pietro clearly had other ideas in mind.

All these years of being so unsure of where he stood when it came to Magneto. Yet, here he was, holding his son close to his heart, fingers in Pietro’s hair, his chin resting on his head. Erik had changed, he realised, after facing yet another genocide in his life, and then almost losing his child. “You really love us, don’t you?” He managed to choke out.

There were pros and cons to staying at Charles’s school, Erik had discovered. For starters, there always seemed to be some kind of virus or cold going around, sick little kids running everywhere. It didn’t bother Erik too much but he did think they could do a little more to keep from getting sick and spreading their germs. On the plus side though, when his son inevitably caught whatever was going around that week, Erik got to be there for him and care for him the way a father should. Even when the thing going around is a stomach virus. - Peter catches the stomach virus going around the school and Erik takes care of his son.

Okay so maybe Erik had made a mistake somewhere in his life. The problem was, that he had made many more than just one mistake that had led him here. He could’ve simply not left Charles on the beach, for starters, he could’ve not sent a bullet into his spine. Luna can't sleep and Peter and Erik try to get her to do just that. They also find that even though he may be a grown-up, Peter still needs his dad (just like Luna needs hers).

Post-DOFP — Peter seeks out the Brotherhood to face Magneto. Magneto turned slowly, his piercing gaze assessing Peter with a critical intensity. Recognition flickered across his face, a faint furrow appearing between his brows. “...Peter?” Peter swallowed hard, his hands twisting nervously. He managed a hesitant nod, uncertain of what to say next in the presence of the man who had both terrified and fascinated him for so long. Magneto raised a single eyebrow, observing Peter with a mixture of curiosity and something akin to paternal concern. Not that Peter was delusional enough to actually think that's what it was. Nope. "You can relax," he said gently, his voice cutting through the tension in the room. "I do owe you a debt."
