Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays everyone! • We’re camping at the beach so it’s very hot and I got very sunburnt 😬 I’m looking forward to Boxing Day sales tomorrow! • I also taught someone to stitch for the very first time yesterday! #コレラパンデミック習志野.
1964年〔昭和39年〕8月25日（火）前日の24日に千葉県習志野市の病院で死亡した患者がｺﾚﾗに感染していたことが判明。
昭和39年と云えば、10月10日（土）に東京ｵﾘﾝﾋﾟｯｸを間近に控えてるという事で、開催への影響が懸念された。
発生地となった千葉県習志野市の大久保地区では、徹底した消毒、街の封鎖が行われﾍﾘｺﾌﾟﾀｰで注意歓呼が��り返された。
翌26日（水）には死亡患者の同宿者からもｺﾚﾗ菌が検出され、習志野市一帯をｺﾚﾗ汚染地帯として大規模な殺菌が行われた。
感染経路が分からないままで、緊急に市民を集め予防接種を実施する事態にまで及んだ。
厚生省は25日に確認されてから一週間で「防疫活動は完全に終わり、流行の危険もない」として、五輪の開会式まで1か月余りとなった9月1日に終結宣言を発表した。
