"15-year-old Hiromi Oka has never held a racket before, but she joins the famous Tennis Club regardless for one reason: Reika Ryuzaki. With the nickname “Madame Butterfly,” Reika is a top-level player for her age and is adored by her peers. Hiromi’s idyllic and carefree high school life is turned upside with the arrival of the new tennis coach, thrusting her head-first into the highly-competitive world of high-school tennis alongside her idol."

This is completely indistinguishable from modern shonen anime.

if there is anything good that could come out of the new ROV movie, I hope it's gained traction and demand for official translations of older shoujo stories

Aya Ueto 上戸彩 (as Hiromi Oka) Rio Matsumoto 松本莉緒 (as Reika Ryuzaki aka “Ochofujin”) Ayaka Morita 森田彩華 (as Maki Aikawa) Based on the 1970s shōjo manga by Sumika Yamamoto. Scenes from the live-action television series.
It was never acknowledged in the manga and anime... But Hiromi’s fascination with Ochofujin wasn’t just “fangirling”. Just my opinion and probably other fans of the manga/series.
