It's strange how much, when I have time off (e.g. tomorrow is ANZAC Day and I've booked the Friday after as annual leave so I can have a four-day weekend), I feel like "ah, normal life for a bit," because work-day life never really feels like life.
Anyway, this weekend is my mother's 70th birthday and she's having a party (catered ladies' lunch) and she's sad because her sister is sick and can't come but on the other hand her best friend has flown over from Australia for it, and I will spend a chunk of tomorrow baking two large and sumptuous carrot cakes for the occasion.
The best carrot cake recipe I've ever found btw: Carrot Cake III from Allrecipes.com. I make it without the pecans, because my sister's allergic to nuts, and instead of plain cinnamon I use mixed spice (called pudding spice in the UK and pumpkin pie spice in the USA). Otherwise, I just follow the recipe and I really cannot over-emphasise how nice this cake is. My sister and mother request it for their birthday cakes pretty much every year.
It's so moist you can make it a couple of days in advance with no noticeable deterioration (provided you store it wrapped up or in an airtight container, of course). The original recipe is for a 9x13 rectangular pan but it works pretty perfectly if you divide the batter equally between two medium-size round cake pans and then layer the baked cakes with the cream cheese icing, which is my normal method. This time, however, I'm making the rectangular version for ease of cutting and serving to a lot of different people.
And it's easy. You don't actually need an electric mixer, if you have a whisk or an egg-beater and some gumption that's just as good. I speed things up by grating the carrots in a food processor - as well as being quicker, I find this results in tidier grated carrots that don't leak and slop their juice so much. In my experience, three medium-size carrots usually yield three cups of the grated stuff, and I would recommend using a grater or food processor disc with smaller holes - thinner strands of carrot give you a better-textured cake.
And as you may know if you know me, I like carrot cake to be a simple and honest CARROT cake, and this one is. There is no secret, sneaky fruit involved.* Carrot it says and carrot it is and carrot it ever shall be.
I once made this with heirloom purple carrots as an experiment. It looked simply disgusting and tasted exactly the same.
*I don't mind if you want a carrot and pineapple cake! I just think you should call it a carrot and pineapple cake. Stuff you if you put sultanas or raisins in it though.
#airy bakes#food#my favourite cakes are carrot and lemon#I'm iffy on chocolate cake#I have one chocolate cake recipe I really enjoy#so many chocolate cakes just don't ring my bell though#gosh how I dislike mud cake#the texture is just foul - so STICKY - and I know that's the POINT of it that's the SELLING POINT of a mud cake#anyway the triple chocolate cake at sallysbakingaddiction.com is really great#she's trying to rebrand as 'sally's baking recipes' now#which sounds absolutely bland and anyway her domain name still says ADDICTION just own it Sally#the buttermilk and the coffee are what make it special I think#you can't taste the coffee at all it just boosts the chocolate flavour tremendously#also like the carrot cake iii recipe it uses oil rather than butter for the fat component and I just like how easily that mixes#she has a carrot cake recipe that has a huge slug of applesauce in it#i'm skeptical

some hc of sophideons wedding and honeymoon please?
I actually am hoping to one day write all of this as a fic! But I'll definitely offer up headcanons now.
So, the first thing you need to know is that Tessa is Sophie's maid of honour (because DUH). Gideon has also appointed Will best man because they're close friends. Which leads to a lot of funny bachelor and bachelorette party stories.
Will takes the boys to the Devil Tavern. But the fun doesn't stop there. They go to all of the gambling hells Will has frequented over the years. It's a really traditional stag night.
Gabriel hires, like, a 1900s stripper (or more like those burlesque dancers. Like the reverse mermaid Matthew hired, idk. The era-appropriate version.) Gideon did not ask for this. Will did not want this. Henry is Confused. What Is Happening
Meanwhile, Tessa has set up a nice little hen party for Sophie at the Institute. They have champagne and Bridget makes them an extremely nice meal. They play a lot of board games and drink too much wine and laugh and have fun.
It's perfect for Sophie, who always just wanted real friends.
The next thing is their wedding. They have it in a very fancy ballroom and it's, like, a massive celebratory event.
Gideon (with the help of Will, Gabriel, and Henry) has set up a full-on fairy tale wedding because he wanted Sophie to feel like a princess. She was denied this sort of fun when she was younger because of her status, and he wants to make sure that she has a turn to feel special.
The ceremony takes place outside prior to the reception. They have Tessa and Charlotte line the trellises and chairs with all kinds of flowers.
When I write this in fic form, I'll make wedding vows for them. Gideon says he loves everything about her and she is the most beautiful woman ever. Sophie says that Gideon is kind, and a comic genius, and the first person will ever see her.
The reception is in the fairy-tale ballroom that I described.
Instead of having wedding cake, they have wedding scones. Just a big pile of different scone varieties, like blackberry and sultana and lemon. And there's like, a condiment buffet with every type of fruit preserve ever.
Gideon isn't a Scone Fan and Sophie thinks he deserves some dessert at his own wedding, she gets him a slice of his favorite cake from the local bakery. She slips it to him while everyone else is having scones.
Before the dancing, Gideon decrees that all may dance every single set with their spouse. It's mainly a gift for Will and Tessa, who are notorious for doing this. (FWIW I think this is a like-father-like-son thing, them dancing every set with their wife despite what society says)
And of course the HONEYMOON. Gideon wanted to go to Spain again because it was an important place to him, so they did.
They go to see Maestro Romero while there. He is happy to meet Sophie. (When I write this as a fic, Maestro Romero will 1000% be in it. Trust.) ** I headcanon Maestro Romero to have been a weapons teacher for both the father/son duo, he's older in my hc.
Gideon shows him all of his favorite foods from his time in Spain. They just take a day and wander from restaurant to food cart to cake shop to restaurant and enjoy the local dishes.
Sophie has been confined to the UK for her whole life until then, so this is a huge experience for her. She makes sure to see all of the cultural sites, and she talks with the locals and learns more about the culture.

Despite Labour’s claim to have carried out proper due diligence on all election candidates, Ms Sultana’s history of making hugely controversial and inflammatory statements on social media seems to have been overlooked.
In one message, Ms Sultana took issue with the suggestion it was wrong to “celebrate the death of any person regardless of what they did”.
The former Birmingham University student wrote: “Try and stop me when the likes of Blair, Netanyahu and Bush die.”
Ms Sultana, who sat on the national executive of Young Labour and the national executive council of the National Union of Students, wrote the of the world leaders: “The sooner they meet their creator the better. The concepts of justice and accountability don’t truly exist in this life. Only in the next.”
Labour’s ruling National Executive Committee (NEC) meet on Tuesday to rubber stamp the selection of candidates ahead of December 12.
As a staunch supporter of the BDS campaign and as parliamentary officer for MEND, the Muslim advocacy group, the 26-year-old Unite union representative has long made the Palestinian cause a focus of her activism.
In one social media discussion she corrected her initial claim of support for the Palestinian right to “non-violent resistance.”
Ms Sultana wrote: “Best believe that was an error and I meant to write ‘violent resistance’.” She then proceeded to use the hashtag #signsofanextremistMuslim in the same post.
But wait! There’s more!
https://www.thejc.com/news/uk-news/exclusive-labour-mp-hopeful-used-white-as-racial-slur-against-jews-1.491112
The Labour candidate for Coventry South repeatedly used racial slurs to brand Jewish students as "YT" and "the white woman".
New evidence shown to the JC confirms that Labour's Zarah Sultana used the word "white" as a negative expression while studying at Birmingham University.
In one Facebook post directed at a Jewish student, Ms Sultana, who sat on the national executive of Young Labour and the national executive of the National Union of Students, wrote: "I can't believe this YT thinks she can represent us."
'YT' is a slang expression for a white person, often used in a pejorative manner by people who wish to stress their own non-white heritage.

Everyone, please welcome Catherine Faris King to Rich in Color today! Catherine’s debut, The Ninety-Ninth Bride, is out this week. (And would you look at that cover by Reiko Murakami? I love it!) We’re thrilled to have Catherine swing by and talk to us about her debut and Arab representation in American media.
The Ninety-Ninth Bride by Catherine Faris King Book Smugglers Publishing
“Sister, would you please tell me a story?”
Dunya is fifteen when her father, the Grand Vizier, gives her over to the mad Sultan for his bride. Ninety-eight Sultanas before Dunya have been executed, slaughtered at the break of dawn following their first night with their new husband. But on her own wedding night, the ninety-ninth bride finds help from the mysterious and beautiful Zahra, who proposes to tell the Sultan a story…
The Ninety-Ninth Bride is a story of sisters and magic, and a kingdom on the brink of disaster.

When I was a senior in high school, we had a new teacher at the school. I won’t name her because everyone deserves a second chance. And besides, my friends who lived it already know who I mean. I was talking with her at the doorway of her classroom one day, and I brought up something about the outbreak of violence in the Middle East, and she said something that stuck with me. She said, “Well, you know those people. They’ll be violent no matter what, you can’t help them.”
She gave my elbow an awkward kind of tickle and walked away. I spent the rest of the day repressing the urge to give my elbow a good scrub in the nearest sink.
Her tone was so reasonable, so practical.
In America, the violence in the Middle East is background noise. It doesn’t have a discernible cause other than “those people, that’s how they are.” Well, maybe that’s how they are, maybe that’s how any group of people would live if their home country was invaded, occupied, despoiled, bombed, over and over and over. But I digress.
The representation of Arabs in American media is in a sorry state. On television, Arab-Americans are lucky to exist, and lucky to be played by actors of the appropriate ethnicity. Move things to the Arab world, and you’re lucky to find tragic victims. You’re likelier to find black-clad terrorists. Dangerous, wrathful, sly, irrational. That’s how it’s been for a long time now–look to Jack Shaheen’s 2006 documentary “Reel Bad Arabs.”
So where do I come in?
Well, I’m an American of Lebanese and Irish descent. Usually, I’m white-passing. I have attended the Arab American Anti-Discrimination Convention several times. There I’ve met Arab-American merchants, activists, politicians, journalists, people whose business is facts.
My business is fiction. I wrote a short story some years ago, a subversive take on The Arabian Nights, or Alf-Layla wa Layla. The original story focuses on a woman named Scheherazade who spins tales of wonder and enchantment, in order to delay her execution at the order of her husband, the Sultan. A couple of years after publishing the short story, the Book Smugglers asked me to turn it into a novel. I agreed in about a minute, and here we are.
Another Arab-American writer may have kindly turned down the offer, for any number of good reasons. Plenty of such writers would want to get away from genies and bellydancers. Arabs across the world have a thousand and one more interesting things to talk about than a hodgepodge of vaguely “Eastern” stories. Not to mention that frame story–thanks a lot, long-gone storyteller, for giving us a brutal Arab man who murders his way through Act I. And Scheherazade, lying, dissembling, talking in circles–we don’t need another enigmatic Easterner.
Those are all good reasons. But none of them occurred to me. I had a story that I wanted to tell, and I dove in, like a foolhardy explorer.
I have loved the story of Scheherazade since I first read about it, in poem form, as a child. Scheherazade is a master of inner strength. She brings peace to a kingdom by telling stories and holding up her head in the face of death. That’s the seed that inspired me; my novel, The Ninety-Ninth Bride, makes some changes (maybe a lot of changes… you’ll have to read the book to find out!) but the seed is the same.
I also had an agenda to bring a little more Arab representation to the world. I wanted to represent Arabs as people, with disappointments and friendships and all the fiddly details that go into an ordinary life. For this novel, I narrowed in on a story that can best be told in Arabia. Other writers might craft stories where the fact that the main character is Arab is more incidental. Both choices have much to recommend them; both help to foster empathy and understanding.
Writing The Ninety-Ninth Bride was partly an exercise of me hashing out what I had learned from writers like Naomi Shihab Nye and Rabih Alameddine. My book is not a story of war, but it is a story of an unjust rule. It is a story about soft power and listening, the story of a girl who thinks herself powerless but learns to take matters into her own hand. And, of course, it is about the effect of stories. We writers love that theme; it gives us all hope.
I don’t plan on going away anytime soon, so I will have more novels to continue to express my point of view– Lebanese-Irish, bisexual, the whole experience. I’ve always been interested in the representation of Arabs and Arab-Americans– although I haven’t always had the words to articulate my thoughts– and it’s fitting that my first novel contributes to that conversation.

Another Interview with Leonnaux Altoix
1. What is the name you go by?
“Leonnaux, though most of Alizarine refers to me as ‘Leon.’ I don’t mind it, really; it certainly has a ring to it. Funnily enough, my girlfriend actually refers to me fully as ‘Leonnaux,’ barring any pet names! At the end of the day, it comes down to preference and how willing one is to navigate bullshite Elezen names, I suppose.”
2. What is your real name?
He hesitates. “Leonnaux Altoix.”
*OOC Note: Lie detected. His real name is Leonnaux Declurais. He uses an assumed surname to distance himself from his family back in Gridania, and make himself feel closer to his long-missing father.
3. Do you know why you are named that?
“Why is anyone named anything? I suppose my mother just liked the name, I suppose. As for Altoix... I’m not sure where it comes from.”
4. Are you single or taken?
“I’m in a relationship, aye. Her name is Edda Vincents. We’ve not been without our difficulties, particularly erm... Recently, but that comes with the territory, I think. I do my best to support her, when she’ll let me, and I’ll love her always.” Mushy as it is, a big grin breaks across his lips and he gives a stern nod.
5. Have any abilities or powers?
“I’m versed in magic, if that’s what you’re asking. Namely, I practice arcanima, and would consider myself reasonably skilled at it, although I struggle with the, erm... Putting the theory into practice occasionally. Other than that, I’m skilled with arcanima, and... Well... I don’t think that qualifies as a power, really...” He trails off in a huff.
*OOC Note: Leon has the Echo (visions only), but he doesn’t know what it is. These visions are also liable to make him very, very sick, and he has no idea what causes them, so as far as he’s concerned at the moment they’re just an unfortunate medical condition.
6. What is your favorite food?
“Um! That’s actually pretty tough. I would wager... Uh... Well. At the moment, I really like these pastries that they sell in the lobby of the Sultana’s Breath...”
7. What’s your eye color?
“Blue.”
8. How about your hair color?
“Black.”
9. Have you any family members?
“... None that I’m on speaking terms with.”
10. What about pets?
“I have a cat, uh... Though I guess she doesn’t really belong to me so much as I plucked her out of an antique shop and now she kind of wanders around The Goblet and visits me whenever she either finds something interesting or wants attention or food. She has a cute little hat--oh. I also have a copperfish. But that’s not interesting.”
11. Now tell me about something you don’t like?
“At length? I think I’ll spare you the trouble... I despise people who put their bloodthirst before anything else. They ought to know better than anyone that lives have weight; to believe otherwise is to paint yourself as a psychopath. I’m also not particularly fond of tribal people, oh—But Edda would get onto me if she knew I said that out loud. And before you say anything: yes, I’m a Duskwight. No, you don’t understand the intricacies of why we are regarded as we are.”
12. Do you have any hobbies/activities you like?
“I enjoy... Studying. Gambling, from time to time. Reading drama. And drinking. Spending time with Edda... Chewing the fat with my coworkers... I’ll listen to a good bard from time to time. That shite takes me back; had things been different, maybe I could have been the one up on stage...!”
13. Ever hurt anyone before?
“Physically? Emotionally? Physically, I struggle to think I could hurt anyone. I’m hardly a grisled warrior like Ben or Jin. Some harm to body may have resulted, a few times, from spells I’ve cast, but I try to keep my spells benign. Emotionally? ... Certainly.”
14. Ever killed anyone?
“No, and I refuse to allow myself to be responsible for taking a life, even by proxy.””
15. What kind of animal are you?
“Caw?” He does a remarkable impression of a crow.
16. Name your worst habits.
“I have been told racism. Drinking, occasionally to excess. But I will not have it said that I’m not principled.”
17. Do you look up to anyone at all?
“Not many, being an Elezen.” He pauses. “What? Fine. I suppose I look up to a few people; Edda chief among them, but of course I’d admire her. Beyond that, I suppose Madison most times and Khada some others. I haven’t been in a position to be mentored or otherwise subservient to another in a very long time. That is not to say I’m not open to being taught a few things, but it makes coming up with people I look up to difficult... Considering the kinds of crowds I tend to run with. Of all my endeavors, Alizarine is the only one that is clean.”
18. Gay, straight, or bisexual?
“You’re asking about my sexual preferences, right? I’m happily taken. But if I weren’t, I think I could see myself as easily with a man as I could a woman.”
19. Do you go to school?
“I never went to school. I was taught how to read and do basic maths by a family friend, and then everything else I know, I taught myself.”
20. Do you ever want to marry and have kids one day?
“Uh... The idea of getting married is... Not altogether unappealing, but I don’t think I’m ready for such a major step. As for children... I would make a shite father. So no.”
21. Do you have fanboys/fangirls?
“Do I have any what?”
22. What are you most afraid of?
“... Being alone again, I suppose. Before Edda, and way before Alizarine, I was pretty much... A shut-in? A recluse? I didn’t mind that life at the time, but I feel so much... Better now that I’m not. Edda pulled me out of some dark places. I don’t want to go back to them.”
23. What do you usually wear?
“Things so marvellously stylish that you will wonder how I afforded them! The boots are Fen-Yll.”
24. Do you love someone?
“As we’ve been over a few times: yes.”
25. When was the last time you wet yourself?
“What the fuck kind of question is that? I’m an adult! The last time I would have wet myself would be as a wee bab.”
26. What do you think is the worst act someone can commit?
“That’s a toss-up between murder and sex crimes. Selling off people as if they were livestock is also horrid. I have my hands in a few untoward things, but you will never see me with a finger in any of those pies.”
27. What class are you? (high class, middle class, low class)
“... Upper-middle? I’m no member of the Syndicate, but I’m hardly poor. I own property. I run a research company. I’m comfortable.”
28. How many friends do you have?
“... Uh...” He starts counting on his fingers, then seems to reconsider. “A few.”
29. What are your thoughts on pie? Cake?
“Both are excellent, especially apple pie and apple cake, which I promise exists. My mother used to make it for us all the time as kids using faerie applies she’s pick from these trees on the—Oh, I made myself sad.”
30. Favorite drink?
“Alcoholic? I fancy myself a bit of a mixologist these days, so I’ve come up with a few interesting combinations that I enjoy. Chief among them are Gold Court cocktails, on sale frequently at The Cloak & Dagger. I also like the restaurant’s titular cocktail... As for non-alcoholic, lassi is good. Fruit juices. Water. I don’t sit down and drink milk, really, but sometimes I get... Cravings?”
31. What’s your favorite place?
“Home. Or The Brimming Heart, in the Goblet.”
32. Are you interested in someone?
“I’m in a relationship! Of course I’m interested in her!”
33. What’s your bra cup size and/or how big is your willy?
“Ask Edda.”
34. Would you rather swim in a lake or the ocean?
“A lake... Because the water is calmer, and I’m not a strong swimmer...”
35. What’s your type?
“I’m not sure that I have one, honestly. I’m in a relationship, but I think anyone who was kind and willing to tolerate my bullshite for more than five minutes would have had a chance.” He laughs. “If—and this is a big if—I ever have to find out if I do, indeed have a type that I’m habitually attracted to... You’ll be the first to know. But for now, my type is Edda Vincents.”
36. Any fetishes?
He turns bright red considering the question, then shakes his head.
37. Seme or uke? Dominant or submissive?
“I don’t know what the former two are... Is it a Hingan thing...? Uh... As for the latter...” He’s still bright red. “It depends on the mood?”
38. Camping or indoors?
“Indoors.”
39. You are trapped on a desert island. What 5 items do you take with you if you can?
“I would avoid being trapped on the desert island in the first place! Other than that... My linkpearls, my grimoire, a quill, a map of the realm, and...? Ugh! This is hard.”
40. You have found a genie! What are your three wishes, not counting getting more wishes.
“I would wish for the power to bring those who have wronged the people I care about to justice. Uh... Wow, that sounds deep but it’s really not. Let’s go money, happiness, food. that works just as well. Right?”

Upper Class, Conservative and Leave Voters Are More Likely To Be Islamophobic, Shows Study
When news of Conservative MP Nusrat Ghani being sacked allegedly for her ‘Muslimness’ broke out, many Muslims in the UK were unsurprised.
The MP for Wealden in East Sussex said that she was dismissed as a transport minister in 2020 and her “Muslimness was raised as an issue” by a government whip.
Writing in The Sunday Times, she wrote the whip had told her being a “Muslim woman... was making colleagues uncomfortable”.
Muslims around the country can relate to the sentiment, and we’re not shocked by the allegations.
Many took to social media to point out that the Conservative party had a track record of Islamophobia, ranging from Boris Johnson likening Muslim women to letterboxes, a comment that was linked to a 375% rise in hate crimes, the government’s prevarication over the definition of Islamophobia, and its appointment of Trevor Phillips, a man who was suspended from the Labour party for Islamophobia, to lead a review into Covid deaths, something that has disproportionately affected the Muslim community.
And now, new research shows that Tories are actually statistically more likely to hold anti-Muslim views.
The University of Birmingham found that Conservative voter, middle-class, and upper-class occupational groups are more likely to hold prejudiced views of Islam than people from working class occupational groups.
Muslims were found to be the UK’s second ‘least liked’ group, after Gypsy and Irish Travellers: 25.9% of the British public feel negatively towards Muslims (with 9.9% feeling ‘very negative’). This compares with 8.5% for Jewish people, 6.4% for Black people, and 8.4% for white people. Only Gypsy and Irish Travellers are viewed more negatively by the British public, with 44.6% of people viewing this group negatively.
The survey, which was carried out with YouGov, found that 23.2% of upper and middle-class people held prejudiced views about Islamic beliefs compared with only 18.4% of people questioned from the working-class group.
However, when asked about Islam, in conjunction with other most popular religions, older people, men, working class people and Conservative and Leave voters are consistently more likely to think of Islam as the most dangerous and oppressive.
More than one in four people, and nearly half of Conservative and Leave voters, held views that purport to ‘Islam threatens the British way of life’.
Support for banning all Muslim migration to the UK was 4-6% higher for Muslims than it is for other ethnic and religious groups.
The survey also found that the British public is almost three times more likely to hold prejudiced views of Islam than they are of other religions. British people are more confident in making judgements about Islam than other non-Christian religions but are much more likely to make incorrect assumptions about it, the results showed.
Dr Stephen H. Jones from the University of Birmingham and lead author of the survey, said Islamophobia in Britain is an accepted form of bigotry.
“Prejudice towards Islam and Muslims stands out in the UK, not only because it is much more widespread than most forms of racism, but also because prejudice toward Islam is more common among those who are wealthier and well-educated,” he said.
The survey, presented in a report titled ‘The Dinner Table Prejudice: Islamophobia in Contemporary Britain’, interviewed a sample of 1667 people between 20th and 21st July 2021, which was weighted by age, gender, social grade, voting record, region and level of education to ensure representativeness.
Weighting was based on the census, Labour Force Survey, Office for National Statistics estimates, and other large-scale data sources.
Other Muslim MPs have highlighted the vile Islamophobia they receive. Zarah Sultana, MP for Coventry South, gave a tearful testimony last year recounting the horrid abuse she gets. MP for Poplar and Limehouse, Apsana Begum, also illustrated the Islamophobia present in our political landscape.
The prime minster is facing fresh calls to launch an independent inquiry into Islamophobia in the Conservative party.

WESTPORT ROLEPLAY PRESENTS…
Georgia's largest music festival returns Friday with some new features and a lineup expected to draw 100,000 fans each day to the beaches of Lakewood Shores in Westport. Chance the Rapper, Blackbear, Milo Callum, All Time Low, and Lorde are only some of the acts slated to headline the first day of Lollapalooza, which runs Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. More than 170 acts are booked among eight stages.
The three-day format was introduced last year, and this year organizers are touting some new amenities, including a spot for attendees to don roller skates and play arcade games; larger video screens at the Callahan Records and Bud Light stages; sound system and restroom upgrades; and a new "visual experience" at Perry's stage.
General admission passes and hotel packages quickly sold out, but an official ticket exchange was introduced this year via ticketsmaster.com that allows people to buy and sell passes. Single-day and four-day VIP and platinum passes are also available, as of present time. All attendees must wear their wristband on their right wrist. Besides the main festival entrance, there is a north entrance at Columbus Drive and Main Street. Security will check bags before entry. Pass holders can re-enter the festival three times per day after their initial entry if their wristband is scanned when they exit.
FURTHER INFORMATION –
Tis the season to get wasted and regret your life choices at festivals. Thanks to Anthony Callahan’s connections to the music world Westport is home to one of the largest summer musical festivals in North America and Westportians either love the chaos that ensues from it every year or consider it to be extremely overrrated. Whatever the case may be as an apology for what happened at the charity gala Westport natives have been given free admission to all three days of Lollapalooza.
Everything will be taking place within a three day time period in character FRIDAY, MAY 25TH to SUNDAY, MAY 27TH. Out of character however everything will be happening on the dash for a five day period in order to ensure everyone gets a chance to enjoy the event. It’ll begin SATURDAY, MAY 26TH at 6:00PM and come to a close THURSDAY, MAY 31ST at 6:00PM.

There’s not a lot of information that’s needed for this event since we’re going for a very relaxed one. There won’t be any major plot drops during the music festival. we want everyone to get a chance to plot among themselves! The sky is the limit when it comes to what kind of shenangians and mishaps you want your muse(s) to get up to during the wild three day weekend. All we ask is that if the plots involve major things that will effect your muse and other beyond the event, that you run it past the admin team first! Other than that we can’t wait to see what you come up with! And can’t wait to get this party started tomorrow!

I hate going on anon for this but people are crazy aggressive and I am scared lol. But please understand we take our scones seriously in the UK, or at least the part where I live. Case in point. Here is a completely serious thing that happened: https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/sainsburys-cream-jam-scones-cornwall-b1843698.html?amp
People get angry about what order you put the jam and cream on your scone. I don’t even want to think what they’d say about a blueberry one. I’ve never seen anything like that here. The one person who keeps repeating that they had a fruit scone here at the same time as HP was written I don’t know, maybe it was a special kind of tea service. You can probably can get different flavours someplace special or high end but essentially anon is right. Anything besides fruit (which means raisins/sultanas only) or plain isn’t part of what you might call British scone culture. Scones also aren’t eaten for breakfast. Any one-off experience someone’s had is the exception not the rule.
With all this scones talk, I need to try one! Unfortunately, here in the Caribbean, it isn't a thing. :(

ROYAL SALUTE BLENDS BRITISH ROYAL HERITAGE WITH SPANISH SUNSHINE IN LATEST LIMITED EDITION
let’s begin
Fully finished in Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks, the Royal Salute 29 Year Old Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask Finish Edition is a rare and exquisite addition to the Scotch whisky’s exceptional collection.
The ‘King of Whisky’, Royal Salute, has unveiled an exquisite new blend: the Royal Salute 29 Year Old Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask Finish Edition.
Expertly crafted by Sandy Hyslop, Royal Salute’s Master Blender, and paying tribute to Royal Salute’s royal heritage of being first created as a gift for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, the whisky takes inspiration from the Queen’s first official state visit to Spain in 1988. To celebrate this historic visit that ushered in a new era of friendship between the United Kingdom and Spain, Royal Salute has worked exclusively with Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, to ensure every drop of the blend is finished in these world-renowned casks.
A first for Royal Salute, it has resulted in a one-of-a-kind Scotch with a Spanish influence, capturing the sweetness of Pedro Ximénez sherry while keeping the unique Royal Salute signature style at the heart of the whisky. The 29 Year Old Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask Finish Edition is a fully-rounded, lingeringly sweet blend, with aromatic notes of juicy oranges, liquorice and sandalwood on the nose, emerging flavours of honey syrup, ripe plum and treacle toffee, all intermingled in a long spicy finish.
The limited edition whisky is housed in the iconic Royal Salute porcelain flagon in a bespoke dark red hue and a gift box that honours the colourful and poetic Andalusian architecture, with deep ruby red and burnt orange bringing to life the rich, warm palette of Spain.
Royal Salute Master Blender Sandy Hyslop said, “It is an honour to have the opportunity to create something so unique for Royal Salute. The 29 Year Old Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask Finish Edition is made up of some of the most exceptional whiskies in our collection, and is a great tribute to our royal heritage.
It’s the first time we have fully finished a Royal Salute blend in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and it has been a really great experience to discover their characteristics – they amplify the complexities and delicate balance of the blend, which adds an incredible depth to the enjoyment of this Scotch whisky.”
Royal Salute Marketing Director, Mathieu Deslandes added, “In keeping with the essence of Queen Elizabeth II’s trip to Spain, Master Blender, Sandy Hyslop, has beautifully blended the rich cultures of the United Kingdom and Spain. We are proud to pay tribute to the great friendship between the UK and Spain through this exceptional expression and to continue our celebration of British royalty and our strong heritage whilst pushing the boundaries of Scotch whisky innovation”.
The all-new limited edition will be available globally in luxury retailers and Duty Free stores around the world from September 2019, at a RRP from $549 USD.
