Sulaymaniyah, August 23, 2024—A suspected Turkish drone strike killed two journalists and injured another in the Said Sadiq district of Sulaymaniyah province on Friday.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic August 23 drone strike that killed two journalists and injured a third in Iraqi Kurdistan,” said Yeganeh Rezaian, CPJ’s interim MENA program coordinator, in Washington, D.C. “Turkish authorities should swiftly investigate this attack and determine if the reporting team was targeted for their work.”
The attack killed Gulistan Tara, a 40-year-old Turkish journalist, and Hero Bahadin, a 27-year-old Iraqi video editor. All three journalists worked for Chatr Multimedia Production Company, which operates Sterk TV and Aryen TV, news channels funded by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK.) Turkey, the U.S., and the European Union have designated the PKK as a terrorist organization, and Iraq’s National Security Council banned the group earlier this year.
Turkey has escalated its military operations in the Kurdistan Region, targeting the PKK, which has been engaged in a decades-long conflict with Turkey. On July 8, a Turkish strike in Sinjar, northern Iraq, led to the death of a Çira TV reporter.
Rebin Bakir, an Iraqi video editor and social media officer injured in the August 23 attack, is in stable condition after treatment at Shar Hospital in Sulaymaniyah for broken legs and hands, according to Hawzhin Shwan, a Sterk TV reporter and anchor, who spoke to CPJ.
The three were on a reporting mission in an unmarked car along the Sulaymaniyah-Halabja road near the village of Goptapa when they were hit, Kamal Hamaraza, head of Chatr Multimedia Production Company, told CPJ, adding that they were journalists “with no direct or indirect connection to politics or military activities.”
“We have faced ongoing threats from Turkish attacks due to our consistent coverage of their operations and violations in the Kurdistan region,” Hamaraza said.
Salam Abdulkhaliq, spokesperson for the Kurdistan Region Security Agency, told CPJ that the agency “will publish publicly if they issue anything.”
CPJ’s email requesting comment from the Permanent Mission of Turkey to the United Nations did not receive a response.

And? You think that makes the genocide OK? He obviously has more of a conscience than anyone defending Israel.
Alan Dershowitz, who Israel picked to represent them at the ICJ, was Jeffery Epstein’s lawyer and wants to abolish the age of consent
Jeffery Epstein and Elaine Maxwell worked for Mossad
Espstein Island was an underage rape and blackmail scheme ran by the Israeli intelligence agency
Israel is a safe haven for pedophiles
Child sexual abuse is rampant in Hasidic communities
I will continue following Sulaiman as long as he keeps posting about things that matter.

Never Seen: The Trace of a Jewish Spirit from Mesopotamia
The Story Begins from a Dead End
August 25, 2015 was a very hot day of summer but its omen was a very promising one! That day, I was with my friend, Mr. Hashim Hama Abdulla, director of the Sulaymaniyah Museum in Iraq, walking in the main hall of the Museum. So far, I had visited the museum innumerable times. I pointed towards something on the floor, which I had noticed on several occasions but I had never inquired about.
The upper surface of the so-called "Gopala Rock", inscribed with five lines, thought to be Aramaic. On the upper right margin, a single separate line of inscription also appear.
There was a rock, which was displayed on the floor directly, without any description. It was relatively dirty, strange, and irregular in shape and was inscribed with what appeared to be an ancient language. It was abutting the wall besides one of the large wood display cases. I'm sure, you can easily by-pass and miss it if you visit that hall. Nothing is striking or interesting about it, in addition to being placed in a non-attractive hidden space. “What is this? I forgot to ask you many times Kak (brother) Hashim?” These were the opening remarks of mine to Mr. Hashim. “It is a long story and we are waiting the results of the transliteration of these Aramaic or maybe Hebrew inscriptions”, Mr. Hashim replied. “It was found at the village near Bazian in late 1970s”. This was the last information I got from him that day.

Prince of Persia The Lost Crown Immortal Showcase NR#1: Sargon; The Rashabar!!!
Background info The new entry to the series is called The Lost Crown, that series is, as the title suggest, the Prince of Persia series. Slightly more than a decade has passed, and now the series gets a new game coming out on 18th January this year, but you get a full-demo on nearly all platforms on 11th January. You can see more about it on Twitter and YouTube, but I am here to give some lore info about Sargon!!! Some of it is taken from the official Discord, where one of the mods called Sushi Vampire revealed it from time to time. I use some of their text here, but with some personal notes and changes, to make it fresh!!!
With that out of the way, let us begin!!
Lore:
Sargon, also known as the Rashabar, The Black Wind[For Info, Rashabar/Black Wind refers to a local wind that blows from time to time in what is today the Kurdistan region of modern day Iraq, particularly in Sulaymaniyah] that destroys his enemies when they get in his way, didn't started out as fearless and ruthless warrior. He was once an orphan when growing up for much of his early life, until Anahita, the general of the Persian Army, took him in, when he was around the age of a modern first-grader and raised him to be in the service of Persia...not as a cute little boy, but a weapon!
That means he had to endure harsh training methods under his mentor, and much of it was without things like Love or anything else of these pesky sentimental stuff in the way! Only anger and the will to fight against his enemies, no matter how tough, fuels him!
He is fearless, ruthless and determined to win, where even Vahram, the greatest warrior of Persia and leader of the Immortals was impressed with his bravery and made him an Immortal due to this!!!
As reward for his success and growing fighting skills, Anahita gave him the twin swords Qays and Layla, powerful blades that are said to contain the souls of two ill-fated lovers!!!
He is our protagonist and is on a journey to Mt.Qaf to rescue the Prince of Persia with his Immortal buddies!
Will he be strong and clever enough to save the Prince? Or will he and the Immortals fail? Find out in the few next days!!!
Tomorrow comes the leader of the Immortals...see ya until then!!!

Today I met a man from Baghdad. I was able to practice arabic. Though at a rudimentary level and after a long day, he was still happy to see this. He taught me the word for summer (Sayf). We also talked about Sulaymaniyah.
He showed me some pictures of the skyline there at night. Beautiful. Also the mountains. Bigger city than I am used to. Country boy.
