Sokka coming out to the Gaang like Darryl in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Just sitting them all down and start singing Gettin’ Bi. I imagine it going a bit like:

Sokka kisses Suki’s cheek when saying he likes ladies, then he ruffles Zuko’s hair when he says he likes guys. Zuko is doing a very poor job at hiding his blush.

When they get to the “being bi does not imply that you’re a player or a slut! Sure I like sex…” Katara is the one going “please make him stop.”

Aaaaaaa okay so initially I was leaning towards not adapting that episode since it is one of the less plot-heavy eps of S2, but you make an excellent point because I would really like to have Aang slay in the Kyoshi outfit (and get possessed by the bicon herself), so maybe I will go ahead and adapt it!

I bet I could actually flesh the story of that ep out a bit more as well by including a scene of the Gaang helping him get ready like you said, and I would love to bring Suki back as well so that she could finally meet Sokka and Katara for the first time instead of waiting until the Serpent’s Pass to bring her back. Overall, it would probably be a majority Zuko POV chapter anyway since Aang would be in jail lol, so I’d definitely write his reaction to Aang in the outfit. Now I have lots of ideas…

Hi can I vent to you, feel free to ignore this if you want but Have you noticed how there are a lot of zkka shippers who are all for s0kka and/or zuk0 being bi until it comes to them being with women? Deadass I feel some people only make s0kka bi just so he can be with z0k0 but just...ignore his attraction to women. Not to mention the utter hypocrisy zkka shippers have with ztara ,It's the biphobia and misogyny for me

Yeah, I’ve definitely noticed the biphobia and the misogyny in the newer Zukka shippers. 

A lot of people don’t know this, but when I was new to the A:TLA fandom, I used to spend some time lurking in the Zukka tag, liking posts here and there. I thought the ship was cute (still do) and I liked the content that was in the tag. I loved seeing bi Zuko and bi Sokka headcanons and I loved the fact that Zukka shippers called them bicons. However, some of the same people that claimed Zukka was “bi rights” didn’t share that same energy when Zuko and/or Sokka were paired with women. I started to see more takes that claimed Maiko and Sukka were both results of compulsory heterosexuality, and not a reflection of the boys’ bisexuality. 

Why can’t Zuko and Sokka love and date women? If they’re bi, that means that they’re attracted to both men and women. Using comphet as a reason why a certain ship doesn’t work out, especially when you headcanon the character(s) in that ship to be bi, just reeks of biphobia. Sokka and Zuko were both shown to initiate and enjoy kissing and hugging their girlfriends. They were even implied to have sex with their girlfriends. So why, for the love of God, is this part of their lives described as “compulsory heterosexuality”? I would say that if you’re just going to label Zuko’s and Sokka’s het relationships as “comphet”, just go ahead and headcanon them as gay, however, that would also completely disregard their romantic feelings for their girlfriends in those het relationships. Either way, the treatment of het relationships by the Zukka fandom makes me uncomfortable.

This was the first major red flag I ever received from the Zukka fandom and their perception of bisexuals in heterosexual relationships. And I feel like this mentality is also a reflection of what many people believe about bisexuals as well.

The next red flag I got from the Zukka fandom was a post which contained a “Zuko would fight anyone that called him straight or bi” headcanon. Like, no? Just, please God no. That headcanon itself is biphobia wrapped up in a pretty little bow, and the fact that that post got so many reblogs and likes left a very bad taste in my mouth. Zuko would never attack someone for getting his sexuality wrong? And I don’t even understand why being mistaken as bi or straight is necessarily a bad thing? I mean, if someone made an honest mistake and got my sexuality wrong, I would just politely correct them about it. And I honestly don’t think that sexuality is a huge part of either Zuko’s or Sokka’s personalities if I’m being honest, so I don’t understand why either of them would get offended to the point of attacking someone over it. 

Also, it’s quite concerning that a decent portion of the Zukka fandom consists of members of the LGBTQ+ community and come up with these biphobic headcanons, but that’s a discussion for another time.

Another thing that I observed about the Zukka fandom was their complete disrespect towards the female characters in A:TLA, namely Katara. A notable member of the Zukka fandom came up with the headcanon that “Katara is homophobic” as a “joke”. And I just don’t think that’s funny. That’s like if I shipped Katara and Azula and called either Zuko or Sokka homophobic. Nobody would be laughing, and I would get canceled. 

Katara is one of the most supporting and accepting characters in the show. Sure, she was hostile at first to Zuko but that was only because his betrayal of her trust created a personal grudge between them. And even though some people use the “Katara is a homophobe” headcanon as a joke, it doesn’t help anyone. Society should progress past the point of viewing homophobia as funny if it truly wants to become anti homophobic and more accepting and supportive of the LGBTQ+ community. 

Also, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that a portion of the Zukka fandom has this headcanon so that Katara won’t be able to interfere in Zuko and Sokka’s relationship. Since Zutara was—is—the most popular Zuko ship for over 10 years, I guess some Zukka shippers felt like they needed to make up some reason for why Zutara wouldn’t work out, or even be close as friends.

In addition, I think that when the Zukka fandom gets criticized and called out on this misogynistic behavior, they like to cling to Suki and call her their favorite character and an icon, etc. to prove that they don’t hate women. Some Zukka shippers even started adding Suki to their ship, creating Zukki. However, since Zukki is usually a by-product of Zukka, this ship almost always ends up being Zukka and Suki instead of Zuko, Sokka, and Suki in an equal and balanced relationship. And while there isn’t anything wrong with stanning Suki and calling her your fave (I mean, who wouldn’t?) I do find it a strange choice considering that she doesn’t have much characterization within the show. Perhaps it’s because people can take Suki’s character and mold it into whatever they want? I don’t know.

(Zukka, Tyzula, Kataang, Suki/Toph)

trash note: this doesn’t go with any of my other modern AU’s, these are just to get back into writing headspace and air out some ATLA thoughts living in my head rent free, as well as testing a couple of new ships!  

- the Gaang have been friends since like, middle school  

- Zuko became their friend in late High School, when he was kicked out of his family home and moved in with his Uncle 

- everyone loves uncle Iroh and his teashop, he’s an adult they all trust 

- he genuinely cares for all of them, too 

- Hakoda and Bato are married, and Sokka and Katara loves Bato 

- Katara and Aang are totally that couple nobody really remembers not being together 

- Zuko and Sokka were truly idiots to lovers tho, took forever to realize their feelings for each other 

- when they did tho, they were already best friends, so their relationship is very natural and easy from the start, which is great for Zuko 

- Mai is aro/ace, and Azula and Ty Lee are High School sweethearts 

- Mai was the first one from his old life to reach out to Zuko when he was cast out by his father, and Zuko never forgets it, he values her and her friendships so much 

- Ty Lee is a competitive gymnast and Azula is very proud of her 

- she loves showing her off and bragging about her lmao 

- Aang is that kind of guy who sees a stranger in any kind of trouble, or sadness, and without a single drop of doubt he will drop everything to try to help them 

- it’s one of the things Katara loves most about him 

- it gives Zuko major anxiety tho, his stranger danger alert is always high 

- Toph decides to go in a totally different direction than what her parents want for her, and they cut her off totally 

- she honestly sees it as a blessing at this point 

- Sokka and Suki dated in Freshman year of High School, but became the best of friends after, and they always joke about how dating each other led to the best friendship ever and a double bisexual awakening 

- when they become friends, Toph has a crush on Sokka, but as they get older, the crush slowly transfers over to Suki, almost without her noticing 

- one day she’s like, oh thank god I’m truly over Sokka! and then Suki walks in and she’s like.... fuck’s sake 

- she’s almost as bad with feelings as Zuko, so she keeps it to herself for waay to long 

- those to actually bond over being rich kids with so much emotional baggage lmao 

- them having nights where they just sit in opposite sites of the couch, drinking wine, wearing facemasks and bitch about their families 

- it’s therapeutic as hell 

- I know a lot of people think Katara will be a doctor, but I really like her as a vet 

- I think she adores animals, and that she has such strong morals, she is perfect to help those who can’t defend and speak for themselves 

- she and Aang totally volunteer at shelters together

- Toph doesn’t have a seeing eye dog, but she still loves animals, and adores Appa, and loves brining him on walks etc 

- they’re still benders btw so that’s mainly how Toph gets around etc 

- always barefoot haha 

- Sokka is the king of athletsure style 

- Zuko is a typical all blacks kind of guy, which low-key hides his... sometimes unfortunate sense of style 

- Zuko’s hair is always between like, book 3 style and shoulder length, so it’s kind of an awkward look, but it also kinda works? 

- Suki is such a bicon y’all 

- she’s really funny on TikTok and has a pretty big following 

- Sokka also loves TikTok, but he posts so irregularly that he never really takes off they way Suki does 

- Suki’s followers loves it when the gaang is in her videos 

- they esp love Toph and her wittiness 

- some followers starts shipping her and Suki, and at first Suki is like, omffg whaaat, we’ve been friends forever!!! 

- and then, one day, they’re out at a bar drinking, and Toph is laughing at something Zuko said, and Suki is watching her like... she’s so cute and funny, wonder why I never realized befo-... oh no

god...when they go shopping, they have a list of things they need or are looking for and every single time they get stuff thats not on the list and forget about the list until they get back home. every. single. time. sokka also buys the weirdest stuff, while suki buys more “practical” things (like sokka buying multiple boomerangs for different colors, whereas suki buys a coffee maker...neither of them drink coffee). its absolute chaos when they go shopping together and they’re out for the whole day. they leave at like 10am and don't get home until 9pm. they have so much stuff, thats so random, that everyone expects their house to be a Mess.

but their house? impeccable design, everything fits so well together. no one knows how they do it but its beautiful.

🥖- food headcanon: this is such a fun one!!! we have great material from the suki alone comic so i love the idea that suki is huge on plant based food and sustainable agriculture and community gardening stuff. i think she’s most supportive out of the gaang of aang’s vegetarianism and goes out of her way to help him find veggie options when it’s sokka’s turn to make dinner when they’re camping. and after the war (when katara’s not around) she’s the first person to be like sokka please eat a fucking vegetable. and he actually will eat a vegetable if it’s a broccoli-cauliflower she grew in her garden. when they’re all in the south pole she even gets toph and zuko together and engineers a little greenhouse space so there’s more fresh veggies available for everyone! icon of the people!

I genuinely don't get why people say that Sokka and Zuko are gay and Katara is a token straight. Toph is a lesbeen and Aang is pan; I have seen people be like: "Zuko is gay; Sokka is gay; Toph is gay" and I have nothing against it, but could you please consider the fact that Sukka is a better ship than Zukka (in my oppinion!!!) and that it is canon, stripping Suki out of Sokka's life leaves us with a sexist bitch and Maiko did happen, they were in love and probability still are; (it does not mean I don't respect your fave ship though; be gay do crime)

I headcanon Sokka as bi because he is very feminine and he is amazing and gentle and he just gives me that vibe, but I think he preferes girl more since he did in fact communicate with girls only and had like 3gf (Yue, Suki and the girl from Toph's metalbenders who isn't really a girlfriend but a kid lmao)

Let me stay with the water siblings: Katara. I generally think that saying she is a token straight is like saying she is firenation. (cs it's the opposite) Katara falls in love with Aang because of how cute and childish and nice he is. She loves him cs he is wise and cs he helps her as many times as she helps him. Think about this for a moment: what if Katara wasn't darksinned and wasn't asian/inuit, we have a white girl, ok and now tell me her sexuality... My friends in rl say she would be a 100% pansexual (or bicon) Why? Cs it just fits. They literally say she is straight bc she is inuit. Wtf?!?! (we aren't friends anymore :D) If you still don't see the point let me tell you that Katara is pan. Just. Pansexuall, and no this is not a pun, don't tell me that she likes pans because she cooks, grow up - that's stupid and rasist and sexist

...Toph, people often make her ether a buch le$been (this is a joke and you spell it ledollarbeen, I thought it was funny...) or weird straight but that is rare, and I have mixed feelings about that, Toph is blind, she is disabled, please don't forget that; she doesn't know what the people look like, she will have to fall for their caracter if she even was interested in romantic love. In my oppinion I think Toph is ether asexuell and bi romantic, or she is just bi. Please don't forget that she did in fact have a crush on Sokka and also had two daughters with two different men. That doesn't mean you can't hc her as lesbian. You can hc her as ace/pan/straight/gay/a melon/omni if you want to.

And the same goes for Zuko. He is interested in girls, he had Mai and he loved her with all his heart. Please don't say she was the reason he found out he was gay. Zuko may give you gay vibes (idk how but k) but he is bisexual or demisexual, it just. feels right; See... he is not pan... He just isn't.

Azula: She is, in my oppinion, a le$been but I often forget about... Chan... So a) she is in fact hella gay cs no heterosexuell could be so scary and hot at he same time, here Chan was her gay awakening or b) she is bisexual but with a preference for girls (you know 1% boy and 99% girls) I like a more :D

Since we're here let me continue with the rest of the angels (they are not Ozai's angels they are just the angels I don't know who had the idea calling them after Ozai it is discusting; if they needed a name Azula's angels is more fitting or the best one is just fire angels)

Mai is the bisexual/demisexual. She was in love with Zuko and they were and are in love (I refuse to be ive the shit the comics tell us)

Ty Lee is bisexual but with a preference for boys since she did like Sokka, and she liked the boys in the beach episode simping for her (untill it got to stressful)

Ok our king and queen. Let's start with Aang cs Suki is my favourite and I will save her for last. Aang is a cool dude. He is amazing and soft but also badass and sassy. I think that hcing him as pan or straight is ok. Because it both fits. I personally hc him as omni. With a preference for girls (if that's how you call it) because he did only have a crush on Katara the whole time

Before the grande finaly of my baby and the cutest person alive let's talk about the goddess: Yue for a bit. Princess Yue. The moonspirit. The imoral spirit. The one that sacrificed herself. Yes. Bi with a preference for girls. She would just be a cottagecore le$been if Sokka wasn't there. Like. He was the only one she actually loved. And being the moonspirit is pretty gay you know... Or pan. Bi would fit her more. But pan is also good. Since she likes Sokka cs of his caracter.

Ok the queen herself. Badass warrior, preasonbraker, feminist, girlboss and all the other good stuff... SUKIIII. First of all: Suki would be so gay of not for Sokka. She litherally dressed him up like a woman and kissed him (even Sokka sais it when he explaines the invasion!!!) But since she does actually like Sokka I was thinking about pan Suki. She would never have fallen in love with him if he stayed a sexist bitch. She would have just killed him if Katara didn't interfere. I just. The facs tell me that she is pan. But my brain tells me that she is bi and I constantly don't know what she is. Plus she is the she/they highness. (But I will continue using she/her :c cs not everyone agrees with that and I totally see it and respect it.) in ny conclusion: Suki is queer, she doesn't care about her gender nore her sexuality so she just tells people she's queer and let's them guess never telling them what she actually is cs she herself still hasn't figured it out and isn't planning to uwu

the gaang loves laser tag. they go absolutely buckwild. sokka and suki are a team, toph and zuko are a team, and aang and katara are a team. sokka and suki are insanely stealthy in laser tag. no one hears them coming ever, not even toph. they also do these silly trick shots with each other that they made up. the absolute dorks.
