Jesus shared the fate of all who die, which is every living thing. There is a difference that prevents any smooth comparison in that unlike the workings of the natural world that brings death, for example, to the back-up pelican chick, the manner of his death was not part of an evolutionary process. Rather, it was a contingent event resulting from an expedient decision by political authorities. Far from being the result of a natural process, the crucifixion was historical, unpredictable, unjust, the result of human sin. Given the vagaries of human will, his life could have ended differently

I hate how acknowledging unfairness in the world is seen as "childish". Maybe children are right. I don't think you should be proud of the fact that you've become complacent with the state of your miserable existence and took on this loser "it is what it is" mentality. Things can be better.

why is religious Christmas imagery all so joyful and pleasant? where is the inherent horror of the birth of Christ? A mother is handed her newborn child, wailing and innocent. Her hands come away sticky. Red. Simply by giving her son life she has already killed him. He is doomed from the beginning. Her love will not save him from suffering. Because the thing cradled in her arms is not a baby, it is a sacrifice: born amongst the other bleating animals whose blood will one day be spilled in the name of what demands it. the night is silent with anticipation. Mary, did you know? That your womb was also a grave?

“People are inherently terrible” no!!! Have you ever seen a child wait for their friend while they tie their shoelaces? Have you ever known someone who would bring hurt squirrels and rabbits and mice to the nearest vet just so it doesn’t suffer? Have you seen someone grieve? Have you ever read something that hit your heart like a freight train? Have you looked at the stars and felt an unexplainable joy? Have you ever baked bread? Have you shared a meal with a friend? Have you not seen it? All the love? All the good? I know it’s hard to see sometimes, I know there’s pain everywhere. But look, there’s a child helping another up after a hard fall. Look, there’s someone giving their umbrella to a stranger. Look, there’s someone admiring the spring flowers. Look, there’s good, there’s good, there’s good. Look!!!!

Thanatos’s sprite being so intimidating with his scythe and his scowl and his pale eyes is actually so funny since it turns out he’s the most ridiculous character in the game and says shit like “what are we” and “i miss not feeling anything” and he gives you his little toy mouse that he’s just had in his pocket since he was a kid and his own mother confirms that he’s a category 1 yearner

[God] grieves over the harm done to her beloved creation... In the Bible...God wails a funerary lament in the traditional undulating rhythms of mourning women... God takes up the cry of Rachel weeping for her children (Jer 31:15-20); at other times there are just heavy words of lamentation and woe. At the outbreak of war God grieves, “Therefore I weep with the weeping of Jazer for the vine of Sibmah; I drench you with my tears, O Heshbon and Elealeh” (Is 16:9)... In such contexts of war and civil disaster the whole populace is weeping and mourning, so the text evokes the idea that God’s lamentation is as broad and as deep as that of the people themselves.
Divine mourning also goes forth beyond Israel to include the whole suffering world... Noting the devastation of a neighboring people, God cries out, “Therefore I wail for Moab; I cry out for all Moab,” and “my heart moans for Moab like a flute” (Jer 48:31, 36). In compassion and vulnerable love, divine mystery takes up the cry of lament for beloved people who are broken and land that is devastated.
Jewish rabbinic and kabbalistic traditions are not embarrassed by this idea of divine sorrow... A rabbinic commentator notes that on the night when Israel escaped bondage by crossing the sea, they sang and danced on the far shore when their Egyptian pursuers were engulfed by the waves. In heaven the angels also wanted to celebrate. But God prevented this saying, “The works of my hands are drowning in the sea, and you want to sing songs!” Grief for the destruction even of the enemy—so wide is the divine net that catches the pain of the world...
Precisely because God is infinite, divine suffering is infinite beyond human comprehension... Weeping women, women whose hearts moan like a flute because those they love have come to harm, are everywhere in the world. As imago Dei they point to the mystery of divine sorrow, of an unimaginable compassionate God who suffers with beloved creation. Holy Wisdom keeps vigil through endless hours of pain while her grief awakens protest. The power of this divine symbol works not just to console those who are suffering, but to strengthen those bowed by sorrow to hope and resist. If God grieves with them in the middle of disaster, then there may yet be a way forward.

REFUSING. ANY CHOICE.#Maybe they'd even be comforted by having a universe-ordained purpose even if it is subservient. even if its to Him.#(though. i can't see siffrin enjoying the idea that someone is subservient TO them... then all their suffering is his fault...)#loop got into this mess via WANTING too much. no more free will. can't be trusted with it. take it away from them.#but yeah. gets my greasy detective pony hands all over this. and everyone please do remember i like to make characters Outright Wrong A Lot

The thing about being religious is you'll talk about your beliefs and/or experiences with non-religious people, and they'll sort of pat you on the head and say, "Yes, what a nice little idea, I'm glad that you have your beliefs to comfort you!" and every time you have to bite your tongue because your religion isn't just a "nice little idea" to you, it's a cosmic truth that underlies all things, and furthermore, although God Himself has comforted you, that doesn't mean that faith itself is comfortable, but if you put any of that into words, they'll look at you funny.
