Wanted to do a big pretty artwork for the Hilda finale, but I'm sick and have no ideas and motivation. So here's something simple.
Awful rant about the show, if you're interested: (spoiler free)
I started watching the series back in late 2021, right after the movie was announced. (Which was just my excuse to watch it.)
It was surprisingly good. I was grinding a Royale High event through the entire thing and I still enjoyed it a lot. I think I watched one half of the movie before midnight on new years eve and finished it after. I went out of my way to avoid my family to watch it. I was so hyped, and it was so great. Probably still my favorite movie to this day. I've had two phases where I watched the movie for 5 days straight and never got bored, and I still rewatch it regularly. I LOVE HILDA AND THE MOUNTAIN KING ‼🗣🔥💯
The series itself means a lot to me. I watched it in a difficult time in my life. (It's gotten worse 😊) It was so nice and calm. There weren't even any references to the real world and no fourth wall breaking. It was so nice for me to escape into that little world without any reminders of my own big and scary world, and it still is.
Hilda will always hold such a special place in my heart. I think season 3 was great, and the last episode was awesome.
Also, what do you mean it's been 2 years? Has it really? You sure? Are you for real????
I wanna go back to december 2021 I was so much happier than I am now 😭😭
Thanks to Luke Pearson and his gang for bringing this series to life and giving it a wonderful ending, I will never forget it! Def gonna watch it with my future children. (My reptile collection)
Thank you for listening to my autism rant 👍

Marks of Fate: The Acorn and The Harp
For @bagginshieldweek24 Day 3 : Soulmate Marks AU + Dwarf Culture
Summary : Soulmate marks are a blessing from the gods themselves, thorin and bilbo are destined for each other, cue teasing and heartwarming fluff
a/n : Welcome back to another installment of my How Thorin and Bilbo fell in Love series, I hope you enjoy this one <3 ( filli is awesome spread the word )

Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the land of Middle-earth, soulmates were marked by unique symbols, destined to find and complete each other. Dwarves, the Children of Mahal, bore these marks with pride, believing them to be gifts from their creator. Hobbits, nurtured by Yavanna, held similar beliefs, though their marks were rarer and often hidden beneath layers of simplicity and routine.
Thorin Oakenshield, the exiled king under the mountain, bore the mark of an acorn above his heart. It was a symbol of growth, strength, and resilience, a connection to the great forests Yavanna loved. He had always believed that his soulmate would come from a race deeply connected to the earth, but life had other plans.
Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit of the Shire, had a harp on his wrist. It was a symbol of harmony and music, a nod to the gentle nature of his people. He had never paid much attention to it, dismissing it as an odd birthmark, until his adventure with the Company of Thorin Oakenshield began.
As the journey to reclaim Erebor unfolded, Bilbo found himself drawn to Thorin in ways he couldn't explain. The dwarf king, though stern and proud, had moments of surprising gentleness, and Bilbo felt a connection growing between them. Thorin, for his part, was equally captivated by the hobbit, though he struggled to understand why.
Unbeknownst to them, the gods had already woven their destinies together.
One evening, as the Company made camp near the forest of Mirkwood, Thorin sat by the fire, absently tracing the acorn mark on his chest. Kili and Fili, his mischievous nephews, noticed their uncle's distraction.
"Uncle," Kili teased, "why do you keep touching your chest? Are you hiding something from us?"
Fili smirked, adding, "Maybe he's thinking about his soulmate. What do you think, Kili? Are they a dwarf or an elf?"
“What if it's Thranduil ?” Killi put a hand over his forehead, “Oh the Anguish, being mated to the one who you abhor.”
Thorin glared at his nephews, though a small smile tugged at his lips. "Mind your own business, you two. And for the record, I don't know who they are and I pray to mahal it isnt that stuck up blonde"
Bilbo, sitting nearby, looked up curiously. "What are you talking about?"
Kili grinned, "Our uncle's soulmate mark. Every dwarf has one, you know. It shows us who we're destined to be with."
Fili nodded, "What about you, Bilbo? Do hobbits have soulmate marks?"
Bilbo hesitated, then rolled up his sleeve to reveal the small harp on his wrist. "I suppose we do, though I've never thought much about it."
Thorin's eyes widened as he saw the mark. It felt significant, though he couldn't quite place why. Over the next few days, he found himself watching Bilbo more closely, noticing the way the hobbit's kindness and courage shone through.
. . .
In dwarven culture, courting was a subtle and intricate process, filled with gestures and tokens. Thorin decided to embrace these traditions, hoping to win Bilbo's heart. He started with small gifts: a carefully carved stone, a polished gem, and once, a delicate flower he found growing near the road.
Bilbo, bewildered by the sudden attention, accepted each gift with a puzzled smile. He had no idea what they meant but felt a warmth in his chest whenever Thorin's fingers brushed his. It wasn't until Balin, the wise and kind-hearted dwarf, took pity on him that he began to understand.
"Master Baggins," Balin said one evening, sitting beside him by the fire, "do you know what those gifts mean?"
Bilbo shook his head. "I haven't the faintest idea. They're lovely, but I'm not sure why Thorin keeps giving them to me."
Balin chuckled. "They're courting gifts. In our culture, when a dwarf is interested in someone, they offer tokens to show their affection and intent. Thorin is trying to woo you."
Bilbo's eyes widened in surprise. "Oh! I... I had no idea. What should I do?"
Balin patted his shoulder. "Just be yourself, laddie. And if you feel the same way, perhaps find a way to show him. A small gesture, something personal."
Bilbo nodded, determination growing within him. Over the next few days, he found ways to reciprocate Thorin's gestures. He shared his favorite stories and songs, baked a special treat with the limited ingredients they had, and once, he even found a small, shiny pebble that he knew Thorin would appreciate.
Thorin noticed Bilbo's efforts, his heart swelling with affection. One night, under the stars, he took Bilbo aside, away from the others. "Bilbo," he began, his voice soft, "I have something to tell you."
Bilbo looked up at him, his heart pounding. "Yes, Thorin?"
Thorin took a deep breath, revealing the acorn mark on his chest. "This mark... it's a sign from Mahal. It means we are soulmates, destined to be together. I believe the harp on your wrist is a sign from Yavanna, connecting us through the earth and its music."
Bilbo's eyes filled with wonder as he traced the acorn with his fingers. "I never realized... but it makes sense. I feel it in my heart"
Thorin smiled, his eyes shining. "Then, will you accept my courtship, Bilbo Baggins? Will you stand by my side as we reclaim our home and build a future together?"
Bilbo's heart swelled with joy as he nodded. "Yes, Thorin. I will."
Their bond deepened with each passing day, their love growing stronger as they faced challenges and triumphs together. Kili and Fili, though they still teased, were thrilled for their uncle, knowing he had found his true match.
And so, under the watchful eyes of the gods, Thorin and Bilbo began a new chapter of their lives. Their soulmate marks were not just symbols of their destiny, but the foundation of a love that would endure through all the ages of Middle-earth.

Ever notice how TBB, inspite of teasing a Clone story line, is not actually about clones?
Yes, we get new Clones. They are a joy, as any clone are.
Yes, we get a brief skim over the problems of having a Clone Army under a Corrupt governing force--especially if that Clone Armies secret objective had been the overthrow of the last governing force.
But name a clone, that isn't the super special awesome squad or the mary sue, that actually had impact here.
Lemme tell you, anything you answer results in:
They're dead now... and the survivor never got involved in the plot.
They only serve to keep the Super Special Awesome Squad out of any significant plot, and then they stay off screen.
They left and haven't been heard from since. (and their absense of exit or acknowledgement of thought processes, made it so that their impact was negligible at best.)
TBB, inspite of literally setting itself up to be the Sequel of the Clone Wars from the perspective of clones, does not, in fact, have a clone story line that contains Impact.
And I'm gonna tell you now--the Super Special Awesome Squad? Does Not Count.
You do not count the outlier of the statistic. These guys are the outsiders, they are design and specified to be outside of the norm for Clones.
Look, I love these boys, but they are literally introduced as the super special awesome totally original characters of the Clone Wars--The difference between them and the Donut Steel of TBB, is that the Super Special Awesome Squad did not take away from the main characters of the clone Wars, but actually added to them.
Their appearance left a lot of questions, and their writting left us wanting for more--the issue is, we did not get either in TBB. They do not have the set up necessary to make them capable of having a Post Order 66 Era Impact. ( IN fact, TBB does its damnest to ensure a total lack of impact at all. )
As their greatest strengths as characters that would push them to have impact and meaning, and into a greater storyline or series of stoyrlines--Their Character Dynamics--was destroyed episode 1 and would never be repaired in this show.
TBB show is not about Clones, which is an almost hilariously contradicotry thing, considering it features clones and parts of the aftermath of Order 66.
Because not a single one of them had impact beyond speculation.
And that also includes the Super Special Awesome Squad.
There is no impact here that doesn't involve cutting the tree down to save a single branch.
The show's actual intent is, making you watch other shows... mostly those who have Omega in them, and giving you just enough to keep going, but not enough to give any substance.
[ Surely, hat's totally why I want watched the Bad Batch--to see everyone but the Bad Batch. I sure do love watching shows that go out of their way to have nothing to do themselves. ]
Addendum:
Yes, we got a totally of 1 Episode dedicated fully to normal Clone Troopers and the aftermath of Order 66... but only from the perspective of the destruction of Kamino as opposed to the perspective of the Clone Wars. And while it was awesome; because it was actually focused on being what the Sequel of the Clone Wars would've / should've been. This episode, I'm afraid however, is the Spiders Georg of TBB here... And even then, it still holds the issues of TBB of attempting to be a self-contained alternate universe whilst also attempting to tie and bury everything and anything. (The Kanan comic, Dark Disciple, Republic Commando--frankly whoever has been writing here, has gone out of its way to insult and spit on other SW works by ensuring they rob all impact. TBB Writing isn't just poisonous to itself... it also actively poisoned the wells of other Works)
Project Necromancer doesn't count, because 1) Any Acknowledgement of the SW Sequels will already negate any meaningful impact of Star Wars period; and because 2) The TBB never got involved with the Clone Plot to begin with, beyond the Super Special Awesome Squad (Who didn't have the setup) and the Mary Sue. ( Whom we weren't here to watch. Some folks might've been drawn to her--But I wasn't and neither was the Trailer or the Clone Wars. I'm already here for a group of TCW OCs, I'm not here for an additional super special awesome donut steel... Her appearance literally robs the impact of Fucking Everything because Nothing has the Set Up to allow for her. She would've been a great character in Clone Wars, because Clone Wars had that backdrop to support her character--TBB doesn't. TBB went out of its way to avoid the TCWs foundations, so now it cut itself off from any meaningful story it could've made. )

s2e4 rewatch notes
I'm a bit tired, please forgive the typos:
At the intro, we get a montage of the permits and files and drills, the sense of urgency - the furiousness of the work and notes begging Carmy for something (that was probably already set on his list in the last episode). I guess I stopped paying attention to the timelines - they're now 7 weeks out with no walls and we haven't really gotten into the meat of the series yet - meaning we don't really see Carmy flake the fuck out until 1 month from opening.
Sugar's "don't tell anyone - this is my problem" bit is so sad, watching her castigate herself for bringing another her/carmy/mikey/donna/their dad into the world. I also hate the way such a heavy moment was turned into such a "womp womp - wall fell" moment, as the situation (and Sugar) deserved a lot more gravitas.
But this is a show through the male lens. Richie feels vindicated that he "guessed it". Carmy doesn't know how to show his concern (and to be fair, she'd probably pummel him if he expressed anything in that moment), but the fact that he still lets his sister shoulder so much of the restaurants burdens alone through the rest of the series shows the level he disassociates from his family (even his only caring/loving family member) at every turn.
Marcus is such a good son - I hope in season 3 we get a (posthumous, I presume) look at who his mother was, what shaped his character, how his brother/father play a role (if any) in his current family dynamic etc.
The Chester + Marcus pairing is a magical talisman that protects the show from a deluge of male-on-male emotional evasion, jousting and toxic co-dependency. I don't care that Chester is about as believable as Claire as a character, mainline that shit into my veins.
I love that Carmy ensured that Marcus would have the identical experience he had when he staged in Copenhagen (as described in Fishes to Mikey) - this is in no way coincidental, he would have had to make plenty of arrangements/requests to Marie for things to play out that way. He wanted Marcus to see Copenhagen through the same magical lens he did, knowing Marcus needed the inspiration and a break from his own version of family strife.
The invisible cat (Coco), the looming presence of Marcus' mom on the viewers minds, and the bike scene are three great examples of things that feel foreboding (like the other shoe is going to drop on Marcus) but never actually amount to anything. Whether existential or hopeful, I like it.
"Do you know how to make Shisho Gelee?" - this is such a gentle test to see how insecure Marcus is in this environment. Passing him the recipe as he's googling was an awesome act of amnesty. It immediately brings out Marcus' curiosity in the next scenes - he's asking all the right questions and looks so joyful when Luca gives him concise answers.
The scenes played out to Otis Redding's "I've Been Loving You Too Long", starting with "You're tired - and you want to be free" playing as Marcus walks home. Temporarily free from the impending death of his mother at home after a long illness. Free from the constraints of the (up until now) low-level jobs Marcus' has held down in kitchens with minimal inspiration and nowhere to go. Free from loneliness? The next cut is Sydney interviewing staff, as if on cue.
The quenelle - the heavy-lovin' part of the song as Marcus' is immersed in his work with Luca, falling in love with the ritualization of his craft. Things in Marcus' life haven't exactly been going right, but this is a place of solace. He follows this up by calling his Mom - professing his love for his craft, as well as for her.
Sidebar: The minty snickers bar is almost a sexual release scene during the ballad. I get why so many folks were led down the road to hell that is Marcus x Luca fanfic, as weird as I think that is (no hate! do you!)
The song ends with the pastry dissection on the boat. This man found love/spiritual release in Copenhagen, just like Carmy. "Mission accomplished, I guess."
Fak saying "Dude! We're best friends, we don't tell secrets!" re: the alliance stuff. So....every dude at The Beef/Bear is his best friend, Sugar is Mommy, and Sydney (and Tina, for that matter) are ????
I feel like Fak may be the thing that continues to insulate The Beef/The Bear as a Berzatto clubhouse for wayward boys at this juncture, but I'm originally from Canada (and thus have been force-fed Matty Matheson a.k.a Fak-Light since the mid-aughts) so there's probably some bias creeping in here.
Luca started as a chef 14 years ago. If he entered the profession and competed against Carmy at the same level/experience as a high-school graduate, that makes him and Carmy in the rough age range of 29-32, adjusting for education sans A-levels in the UK. We can put away that screenrant article and die in peace now.
Mikey was "Really tight, but also really out of his fucking mind, and he wanted to open a bakery". Something something Berzatto parallels.
Luca says "I've got a younger sister, somewhere, yeah" after asking about Marcus' family. Luca's got a case of the family damage, the trouble in school, a past-tense case of the ferocious mopes - all the same watermarks as Carmy. Meanwhile, Marcus was just sharing his mothers prognosis, and speaks of his brother with no ill will (even though he doesn't appear to be in the caretaking position with his mom) - are they foreshadowing that Marcus' doesn't have the damage that makes a truly great/ritualized/masochistic chef in the long run?
Luca's may have learned more lessons in life than Carmy has (in part by being thwarted by Carmy) but the habits borne out of family evasion/searching for something else are so engrained with that backstory. Or maybe Marcus' represents the happier/new way of doing things, breaking the toxic cycle (more thoughts on this down the line).
Luca worked to keep up with Carmy after he came to a place of acceptance that he'd never be the best, and that ended up being enough for him. Maybe a blessing is that Marcus' gets to sidestep the whole toxic cycle and just absorb knowledge (from Luca, from Carmy, from Syd) - he's not in a running position, just like Tina.
But of course, we never worry about Tina - she's too self-possessed. Marcus is emotional and easily influenced, so I have a feeling his narrative could turn on a dime.
Luca says "At a certain stage, it becomes less about skill and more about being open....." In summary:
Marcus - Open, but I fear could easily become closed in the wrong environment/trauma.
Carmy - Closed, doesn't really understand how to open when not hiding behind the guise of the restaurant/Syd/emotional fabrications
Sydney - Wants open, but always closes instinctively for self-protection.
Natalie - Open, with the limited emotional tools she has at her disposal.
Richie - *learning* to open, but that's a long fucking road.
Tina - Open
"It helps to have good people around you, too" - see above. The Bear represents the inherent goodness of people, with familial history run roughshod over it.
Marcus asking "Was It worth it? The time you put in" quickly followed by Luca saying "I dunno....ask me tomorrow"
Isn't this the feeling of fecklessness that almost everyone has with their creative craft being converted to labor? There's been a lot of theories floating around that Carmy doesn't like cooking anymore/never liked cooking - could it just be the long-standing feeling of irrelevance when you've taken a deep-dive into your craft for so long that you can't see the forest (inspiration, caring for people) through the trees (red tape, skill level, trauma etc.)?
The man on the bike could also represent saving someone the way that Marcus can't save his mom - it alleviates some of the feelings of powerlessness, and the exchange of comfort in the hug a reciprocity he can no longer experience with her.
"Are you sure you want to get back on the bike?"
A bad thing happened, but the man feels compelled to keep moving - as Marcus said to Syd in S1 "just keep moving" - there are a bunch of metaphors for just proceeding with the restaurant here.
Syd is literally just being goofy and talking to Marcus like a friend when he first calls - I guess I imagined there being a little more heat/aloofness there on her behalf, but it's giving friend-zone. She wouldn't act so familiar if there was a crush, I don't feel its in her DNA....
Marcus sharing the nightmare about his mom's impending death with Sydney is huge (again, the other shoe dropping) - Sydney tries to give an empathetic response (she's not great at anything with a whiff of mortality to it, but she approaches the topic with optimism) and caps it off with a "ugghh - I miss you man" as a reassuring gesture - he's her friend and a great source of comfort.
He nods quietly, waits a beat, and says "I miss you too" - and you can tell the pregnant pause has let Syd know that there's gravity/consequences to her words. She diffuses with the freeze humor because what the hell else are you going to do once a guy tells you about his dying mom nightmare, you spurt out a casual "I miss you bro" and he responds back tenderly that he misses you too. Unenviable.
"Okay, goodnight dude" - Syd hangs up immediately. Oof. Everyone talks about Syd getting a love interest in season 3 to level the stakes with Carmy, but I want Marcus' to bag a hot expediter or something just so there's a bit of joy in his life without a crazy dramatic subplot ensuing.
The mild smile on Marcus' face is so peaceful when he masters the dessert. It's such a quiet satisfaction you can only get when you create things. What a nice way to end the episode.
Holy crap, this was far too long. If you stuck it out, thank you!

my chosen munday post is just sharing games i like, another way to learn about me. it's sort of in semi-order? but is mostly kind of just based on vibes, influences on me as person, etc. rather than any objective measure of quality. i was talking to friends about our top 10 games recently so it made me think about doing this list over again. if anyone is curious, some notes:
jade empire - not a perfect game but i love it. objectively, it's a generic wuxia but it's my first generic wuxia ( as well as my introduction to bioware in general ) so i don't really care! an oldie but a goodie. summah's first rpg ( not counting ffviii b/c while i played it first, i watched my brother play it for years so it wasn't 'new' ).
jsrf is nostalgic. i watched my big bro play over and over again before playing myself. it formed my love of graffiti and street art; its message that art is not a crime has stayed with me to this day. also has a killer ost. HELLO ALLISON.
alan wake ii is art. is it perfect? no but art isn't perfect; it's such a great iteration on every unique and weird idea that remedy has ever tried across all of their games. i'm so happy for sam and team for finally getting the flowers they deserve ( seriously, if you didn't smile at finnish king, sam lake, dancing at TGAs you have no heart! ). also don't ask me what alan wake is about unless you want a crazed essay in your dms, thank you.
max payne 2 - i can already hear that sweet, depressing main theme. another 'watching my brother play and then playing myself' classic. the noir style. the purple prose writing of max... it's just all too immaculate. i'm incredibly excited for the remakes but i'm also sadden that james mccaffrey won't be giving his voice to max again and hope people still seek out the original.
i cheated by adding the reignited trilogy on here ( last time i only had year of the dragon ) but after doing a quick replay of the remaster of 3, it reminded me of how much love and charm was poured into this remaster. it's such a good vibe - headbutting into walls has never felt so right.
yakuza 0 is peak - it's what you should start with when getting into the series. kiwami 2 was on last time but didn't make the cut; it's story is awesome.
p3r is a hard recency bias but! i had p5r on my list last time and i genuinely think 3 is a vasty better game so it felt weird not to replace it.
the only two games on here that i haven't played but i've watched countless playthroughs of: tomb raider 3 and silent hill. tank controls in classic TR destroy me but watching my brother and uncle play and seeing lara get crushed by boulders is a core visual in my memory. with sh1, i'm just a baby and don't play horror games but i enjoy the general weirdness of that game compared to its sequels.
feel free to do this yourselves :)

Hi,
I just popped in to let you know that even though IWTV is not my main fandom, I immensely enjoyed the series and your insights on the whole universe got me hooked badly (but in a good way). However, the book discussions are def a wild ride in which I'm lost most of the time lol!
As someone who only watched the series (..and ofc the 90s film), it really surprises me how some people see the characters and want to force them in some kind of fluffy fanfic narrative. As much as love all of them, they are all quite awful and, to say at least (As they should be, they are Vampires after all). Louis is not an angel, and Armand, however gorgeous he is, imo is already creepy as hell and lestat (my unhinged love) is definitely troublesome in so many ways. They all are so bad for each other but so good for us, can't wait the second season!
Anyway, thanks and keep on the good work! And if you have any good fic recs, faithful to canon (so not fluffy coffee shops pls), I could give it a go.
Oh oh oh, I am at once delighted and very sorry to have reeled you in *laughs* :))) Thank you?! 💕
And yeah, I also find the overly "cutifying" of those vampires (and I love them dearly!) a bit ... weird. *shrugs* They are all monsters... but they are our monsters, right :)))
(Also, sorry for the late reply, I needed a bit mental space to think about the recs)
In regards to those recs - I have only read a few ones as of now. I am also someone who likes to stay in canon (If you want to have a look), I rarely write or read AUs.
So, some of those I have read:
The right regrets, by @dreamofme9 - canon tie-in with smut, but an awesome character dissection, too :)
I can generally recommend @thefairylights fics, though I haven't read them all yet (*hides face in shame*)
I've also read some by Zisurru, and of course Go Fetch God by BlueBloodBruise who I love dearly, but who only writes one fic per fandom *cries* and doesn't really like social media. Also it is slightly AU but still almost a must read.
But I'm really, really, really behind, mostly because I'm writing so much as well 🙈😅 (I am looking forward to my summer vacation tbh, with a cocktail and my phone, lol.)
Maybe other people out there want to add recs for canon-compliant fics here?

(Long happy/?? rant incoming. Sorry, I just saw your account and had to talk to someone about this)
Ough. I've been thinking about when I read the original The Ghost Next Door book and it honest-to-God changed my mind or something because no book I've read so far is as of high reputation in my mind as that. Maybe it was because I was younger and hadn't read as much, but I have had it in my head for like a month now to Get That Book for myself. My school library has like twenty or so of the books but not that one!! When I saw the Goosebumps collection I was like "NO WAYYYY" but then I got really disappointed when it wasn't there. I need to ask the librarian if they can get it LOL.
Anyway, I remembered it again after going through a nostalgia blog and I searched the tag. Lo and behold, there was your blog! I don't remember any of the other plots very well (from the ones I read; the bookshelf where I originally read it was TINY and barely ever had GB books), nor any of the characters aside from Hannah and Danny, but nevertheless I'm enjoying your Goosebumps art and content a lot. Btw your art style is awesome. :D
I'm now desperate to find somewhere to watch the original 90's show. I've seen it's on Google Play or whatever and Microsoft, but I need to look into that. Help is appreciated, if you know where.
But I guess my question is: what books do you recommend? I like both the standard and the choose your own adventure ones (idk if there are any others). I read/started reading The Haunted Mask, The Werewolf of Fever Swamp, Welcome to Camp Nightmare, The Ghost Next Door (duh), Let's Get Invisible, Monster Blood, The Cuckoo Clock of Doom, The Girl Who Cried Monster (I think. That's the one where the guy eats the bugs or whatever, right?), Escape From Camp Run-for-Your-Life, You Can't Scare Me, Scream of the Evil Genie and/or Be Careful What You Wish For (one of them, lol, maybe both. I think it involved a cola can?).
Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks for reading this long-as-hell ask and also thank you if you respond! Obviously, no pressure. Hope you have a great week and good things come your way!
P.S., you got me to start listening to the Goosebumps the Musical: Phantom of the Auditorium soundtrack and it's so good.
-👻🪐 (I hope emoji anons are okay, just in case there's a follow-up ask or something)
Hello!!! This message is very sweet and I had fun reading it, thank you! I'm sorry it took me a day to respond, I was a little busy!
I hope you're successful in finding the book. My library has the opposite problem: It has no books except Ghost Next Door (germany doesn't really sell them anymore, so they're hard to come by, even in libraries). Also, all the Goosebumps episodes you can find on YouTube somewhere! There's many reuploads of them.
As for books I'd recommend, you've already read a few of the ones I really like! But if you need more my favorites you haven't read from the series' you mentioned liking include:
- Phantom of the Auditorium (but like the book version! Very good, very fun, really emphasises the "the gang shares one braincell" part)
- Werewolf Skin
- Calling All Creeps
- Night of the Living Dummy 1 and 2, I've heard the third is good too but that one actually didn't manage to hold my attention, but maybe it will for you!
- Welcome To Dead House (This one's fun)
- Piano Lessons Can Be Murder (I just think it's neat)
- A Night In Terror Tower (Again, I just think it's neat!!), This one also has a "Give Yourself Goosebumps" sequel book "Return To Terror Tower) I recommend aswell!
- Beware, The Snowman!
As for the Give Yourself Goosebumps books I'm like "Please Don't Feed The Vampire"
Those are the books I'm fond of. It's a bit of a list, I hope you don't mind!

sorry gang i'm on a writing roll so here is
Ash's Thoughts About Every Winner + A Bonus
Wife, this is your warning. Do not look under the cut. You will be spoiled for literally the entire series.
Also I do briefly mention self-harm towards the end so if that is a trigger for you, I would recommend either scrolling or not reading the massive paragraph at the end.
Dr. Will (BB2) - There's a reason he's an iconic winner. He's a bit of an asshole but he's a lovable asshole, much like my dad.
Lisa (BB3) - Now, do I think a bitter jury contributed to this win? Yes. Is this win still deserved? Yes. She was a strong player in her own right and I'm still happy she won.
Jun (BB4) - One of my favorite winners. Basically invented the floater strategy that other houseguests try and fail to replicate to this day.
Drew (BB5) - Honestly, I have not dived very far into this mid-stage of the old seasons but I guess he's okay.
Maggie (BB6) - Not a big fan of her, tbh.
Mike Boogie (BB7) - There's a lot of shit that happened outside of the game that sours my opinion of him.
Evil Dick (BB8) - Ok, listen. He's a character I can say that much. But, there was a lot of production protection around his win. I don't think he would've gotten as far without America's Player.
Adam (BB9) - I haven't watched BB9, and I probably won't.
Dan (BB10) - What can I say about Dan that hasn't already been said? He is a BB legend and probably the best winner.
Jordan (BB11) - Yeahhhh, no.
Hayden (BB12) - I have conflicting thoughts about Hayden. Is he kinda responsible for Derrick? Yes. Is he entertaining to watch? Yes.
Rachel (BB13) - Ok I gotta admit, I'm not the biggest fan of her in 13, love her in 12 though.
Ian (BB14) - Ian is my favorite, if you have anything negative to say about him fuckin leave.
Andy (BB15) - I refuse to watch BB15.
Derrick (BB16) - See my future "Derrick Levasseur Ruined Big Brother & I Don't Respect Him As A Person" longpost.
Steve (BB17) - I am extremely biased towards Steve. BB17 was the first season I watched and the first to make me fall in love with Big Brother. If you asked my dad, he would say Vanessa was robbed. And I kind of agree, but also don't. We didn't have good enough internet for the feeds at the time so there's a lot of shit we missed.
Nicole (BB18) - I hate Nicole Franzel. I am tired of seeing and hearing her and I do not care if she lives or dies.
Josh (BB19) - 19 was a garbage dump as a season which makes it only fair to get a garbage dump of a winner. Only Kevin winning would satisfy me because he was the only bright spot in this hellhole of a season.
Kaycee (BB20) - Honestly, I don't give a rat's ass about this season. I was on Discord most of the summer so I didn't get to connect with a lot of the players.
Jackson (BB21) - Why do we award racists? I only watched the first half of the season because I was so angry.
Cody (BB22) - The only good thing he did was evict Nicole. This season made me stop watching until midway through BB24 because all of the Pre-Derrick players were evicted for trying to, yknow, play the fucking game how it was meant to be played. So tired of white boys.
Xander (BB23) - I have not gone back & watched BB23 in its entirety due to certain events in my life happening at that time because I fear it may trigger me and ruin my excitement for Big Brother.
Taylor (BB24) - It's what she deserves. She is 2 in my top 3 favorite winners, those being Ian, Taylor, and Lisa.
Jag (BB25) - I don't think you should win if you were evicted, but that's my opinion.
And finally, our bonus player:
Paul (BB18 & 19) - I have incredibly mixed feelings on Paul. When they played in 18, I thought they were the greatest person on Earth. They were cool and funny and had awesome style. And to an autistic middle schooler who couldn't keep up with the changing tides of the social hierarchy, they meant a lot to me because we were already very similar. So I mirrored them. I mirrored them HARD. They were everything I wanted to be as a person. Instead of being the kid who got bullied all the time, I could be cool. To this day, Paul is a really special houseguest to me because they provided an escape from the newly developing self-hatred and urge to harm myself. I'm older and healthier now, so I don't value my worth against people but they were a bright spot in a dark time in my life.
Then BB19 came along. And I felt betrayed.
Why was the person I looked up to suddenly acting like the very thing I was escaping from? It genuinely hurt a lot. And because of those feelings that still linger today, I still feel like that 12 year old "girl" who didn't know what was wrong with them whenever I see clips of Paul on BB19.
Thank you for your time. See yall on Thursday.

Since it was fun doing Cartoon Network, let's try another network of shows. You already talked about The Hub/Discovery Family original cartoons on another ask, so gonna try Nickelodeon original cartoons next (split up by era). Who is your favorite character from each of the Nicktoons from the first half of the 90s from the shows you've seen like: Doug, Rugrats 1991, The Ren & Stimpy Show, Rocko's Modern Life, Aaahh Real Monsters, Hey Arnold, and KaBlam?
LIke last time (Which wasn't commented on) I'll also give my general thoughts but I was hoping this would happen. Doug: Doug himself, a relatable likeable guy and one of Billy West's breakout roles. Though Roger is a close second as while he's an ass, he's one of the better bully characters out there. The show itself was nice, calming and pretty decent all things considered, a grounded slice of life show that paved the way for others. IT's outclassed by some later ones to be sure, but it's still pretty neat. Rugrats: Chucky. He was this when I was a kid, he still is now. I love this neurotic little mess. The show as a whole was pretty great.. I went through a phase of not liking it and while I still like most other nicktoons on this block better, I can't deny Rugrats staying power, classic characters or all time banger episodes. The Movies are also pretty good and something we may be covering at some point. The Ren and Stimpy Show: Not sure if I have a faviorite here. As for the show I didn't really watch it much as a kid or as an adult: I can admire it's craft, and the gag from sven hoek "BUT FIRST, BUT FIRST, BUT FIIIIRRRSSST I"m gonna take a whiz! Don't you go anywhere", was a thing with me and my friend mars back in the day but I just never was that attached. Which is probably good as John K is a monster, but the rest of his crew did a good job as was the voice acting. It was just never really for me.
Rocko's Modern Life: Rocko Himself. Yes once again i'm picking the main character though out of the side cast, you all know who my boy is
Tumblr media
But Rocko is such a relatable shy little guy he's hard not to love. Though again Wild Pig will always be goat too so they can share it I suppose. Point is Rocko is the best: a relatable show that hits for both adults and kids. As a Kid I watched it but wasn't really in love with it. As a young adult on the n, this thing became my religion and remains one of my faviorite nicktoons. A true classic with humor, relatablity and a whole lotta 90's nostalgia while still being mostly relevant. Watch this one if you haven't. Aaaah Real Monsters: Hard to say as it's been too long. I like Ickis design but all the design work here is awesome. The show itself is one worth revisiting, with great designs and a truly unique style. Wish I had more to say about it as I don't think Kid me was super on board.
Hey Arnold: Honestly? Harold. I thought this would be hard as the cast for Hey Arnold is truly one of the best in animation history, no exageration the amount of spotlight episodes means just about everyone's fleshed out. But Harold's tend to stick out the most with his Kitten Hostage Situation, Bar Mitzfah and especailly his job with Mr Green being some of the series best episodes. The kid was the right mix of obnoxious jerk and heart of gold. Also before we move on can we just.. appricate that the show has an episode where a child basically kidnaps a kitten, has the police called.. and he's STILL the most sympathetic one in the room next to the kitten's owner? It's a tesitament to the show's power: Hey Arnold is a charming, wonderful little show, one of the best slice of life shows period. Part of the reason doug isn't as good as it was in it's heyday.. is it made room for shows like Hey Arnold to exist. A truly wonderful show that gave depth to just about every damn character it had over time, had a lot of heart, charm and creativity. It's honestly one of the best cartoons period and I stand by that, also having a knack for atmsophere along with it's wonderful cast and shocking maturity (Seriously I had no idead Miriam was an alcholic as a kid or Mr Simmons was gay and had a homophobic mom but both are handled well for the time). True classic.
KaBlam: Character wise let's go by short: June (If Narrowly), The Chief (Tends to get the best lines and is enjoyably Da Chief type character boiled down to it's most hliaroius form), Sniz, Prometheus, Loopy Herself, Race Rabbit, and Tommy. As for the show I did a whole ass retrospective, but in short, it's fantastic. Not the biggest fan of prometheus and bob, but the rest of the recurring segments are all bangers on some level, though P and B is still gorgeously animated, it's simply not for me. It's a fantastic show, animation showcase and time capsule and well worth your time.

Poker Face: The John-O Character
Omg hi howdy. Welcome back to a long essay featuring nothing groundbreaking whatsoever! Today we are going to be talking about Poker Face, the greatest show of all time. But more specifically, we're going to be talking about John-O.
For the uninformed-- John-O is a character featured briefly in the first episode of the series. He's only in two scenes but he sure is a silly little guy. Everyone loves John-O.
And upon my 17th rewatch, this time featuring my good friend @room215 , they pointed out that there seems to be a John-O-escue character in every single episode.
So we kept track of the John-O's. And now I'm going to be dissecting each one for no good reason.
Now there are no specific criteria for what makes a John-O. It's really just based on vibes. There are similar patterns between characters that are worth analyzing but for the most part you just know it when you see it.
I'll be talking about the first five episodes in this potentially very long post so grab yourself some popcorn and buckle up.
Oh and there will be spoilers. So go watch Poker Face if you haven't already, it's the best show ever actually.
Episode 1: Dead Man's Hand
John-O
Tumblr media
BEHOLD! JOHN-O THE ORIGINAL!
There are definitely moments where I could get better pictures of him but I think this one is kinda perfect.
This is John-O. He is a silly little guy who has a history of stealing shit and breaking into places. He seems to be reformed because he states he "don't do this shit no more." So he is morally good. I trust him.
He's very silly and likes to add the suffix "-o" to the end of things he says. Like hey-o and good-o. He's just this goofy old man and his vibes are impeccable.
He's an ally to our friend Charlie Cale, helping her break into Nathalie's home despite his morals. He even offers to cut her in with his playboy sales. What a good guy.
Overall, John-O is a friend-o. He establishes our precedent of the "John-O character" being silly and the vibe that we're after.
Side Note: I love that Poker Face is an episodic show with a rotating cast of characters. It's seriously awesome and you don't see that shit often. However I am heartbroken at the loss of this man cause we probably won't see him again. It breaks my heart. I hope he's doing ok.
Episode 2: The Night Shift
"Meteor Shower" Trucker
Tumblr media
Literally just this dude who is in one scene.
He is only here to tell Charlie about the meteor shower that evening. But he does it in the funniest fucking way imaginable. He literally gives Charlie a heart attack by just saying, "Meteor shower tonight." It's the funniest thing to me.
And I think about him way more often than I ought to. He's kinda skrunkly.
I said on the night during our analysis that he's cute in the same way on old man themed muppet is cute. Y'know? I feel like that makes some sense.
But yeah he's just here to be a jumpscare and tell Charlie about the Leonids. What a silly guy. I wish he was in more than one scene.
So far in our John-O analysis we have two quirky old dudes. The best kind of character imo.
Yeah I don't have much else to say on him </3
Episode 3: The Stall
Beto
Tumblr media
Why does he look like that.
Anyways yeah, Beto is the John-O of episode 3. I do think he is pushing the amount of scenes a John-O can be in but it's ok cause he's kinda silly. He's just doing his job, man.
Poor guy is the one who found George's body. He's probably gonna have some issues for a while.
He's got some silly interactions with Charlie and even though they're brief, they're fun.
I actually don't have a lot to say about this guy. Whoops. My bad.
But you may have noticed he is not a skrunkly old man. That is true! He is not that.
I will be grouping this dude into the category of, "Guy who is just doing their job" under the broader "John-O" umbrella.
None of those words were in the Bible, I don't think.
Anyways, that's Beto for ya. Now we get to move on to my favorite guy!
Episode 4: Rest In Metal
Guy Who Threw The Stapler
Tumblr media
Why the fuck would he do that.
I don't even know I can classify him as a John-O character but oh my god I think about him so much. Literally what is his deal, why the hell would he do this.
He is just here to throw a stapler at Gavin and whoop and holler. That's so fucking awesome.
That's all he does so I don't exactly know what else to say about him but I will add this:
My friends and I have been saying, "aREN'T YOU THE BAND THAT DOES STAPLEHEAD??? PLAY STAPLEHEAD!!!!!!!" to each other in the most man baby-escue voices possible for days now. It's the funniest thing on the planet.
*hits you with a stapler*
Episode 5: Time of the Monkey
Gino the Bull
Tumblr media
This random guy in Howard Wolowitz's car.
He meets the flexible criteria of being a skrunkly old man so he gets points for that, for sure. ALSO HE'S KINDA SILLY?
He's just in the car being a silly goofy guy. These dissections are getting shorter and also worse. My bad guys, I'm really tired. Been staying up watching too much Poker Face B).
Anyways yeah, I don't know what his deal is. Very important to be a John-O, you just don't know what their fucking deal is.
I wanna say Gino the Bull is some kind of mafia/mob man? I dunno. I think it'd be funny if that were the case. That's my head canon at least.
So now we have three skrunkly old dudes, one man baby, and one Beto. Awesome.
Conclusion
I'm gonna cut this one of here before it gets too terribly long. Mainly so I can just get this posted. But also I imagine this shit is quite the long read.
My bad B).
BUT YEAH!!!
These are our first five John-O characters in Poker Face! Tune in soon to learn about the next five!
It's not gonna be as silly. Sorry. Episode 9 and 10 are major bummers and there's not much fun to be had there.
As always, thank you for reading <3

My thoughts on the Knuckles series
Tumblr media
I want to preface this by saying that if you haven't watched the series yourself and have the means to do so, I suggest watching it yourself and forming your own opinions on the series. The episodes are about 25-30 mins long, so it should take about 3 hours. But if you'd rather give the show a pass, I understand, especially given that so many people have given rather mixed reviews on the series. I don't think I have much to say that hasn't already been said, but I thought I'd share my personal thoughts on the series.
I will be discussing spoilers in this post, though I won't be breaking apart the plot per se. I just want to discuss some thoughts on the series, good and bad, since I know some people have been very harsh on this series. And as a disclaimer, these are personal opinions rather than outright critiques.
For a tldr rating though, I'd give the series like...6.5/10?
Things I Liked
I really enjoyed the plot of the first episode or so. The scenes with the Wachoski family was probably some of my favourites for the series, even if only brief. I wasn't sure that they would include the other characters, so it was nice to see most of them. I wasn't super keen on the GUN agents necessarily, but I thought their story parts were the most enjoyable. I enjoyed watching Wade scheme to save him and immediately fumble the bag, but ultimately sort of recreate his plan? I also appreciated him using the siracha to free himself from the GUN agent since it was starting to wear a little that he seemed utterly incompetent - more on that later.
I once again appreciate the references to the Sonic universe. I only really noticed the Knuckles hat (which if I'm not mistaken is a reference to the OVA cartoon?), but I also saw someone mention Sonic 06 before watching it, which helped me recognise the reference to the game (both Knuckles' power and the creature that I assumed to be Iblis). I also saw a Reddit post pointing out that the alien attack mentioned by the bowling tournament announcers took place 50 years ago, which could be a reference towards Shadow, but it's not outright stated to be that.
The animation was surprisingly good. Part of me thought the animation quality would be off, but it was more or less on par with the movies from what I could see. Some scenes were a little off, but I can't really fault it since they're trying to incorporate an entirely CGI creature interacting with everything, but for the most part it was awesome.
Things I Didn't Like
I think one of my bigger issues with this series was the humour. That's not to say I didn't find it funny, but the constant surreal/cringe humour eventually wears on you. It worked at the beginning because Knuckles and Wade alternated being the 'straight-man', but for the most part, the characters fell into the same 'I'm dumb' type of humour. I don't quite know how to explain what I mean by this, so I guess I'll give a few examples to illustrate what I mean.
There's Knuckles himself, whose 'stupidity' mostly comes from him not fully grasping human culture. There's also Wade Whipple, who is portrayed as an idiot or loser, something he's called by the other characters. There's Jack Sinclair who acts intimidating while still being dumb behind his seriousness, and was the kind of character that seems threatening until they're dethroned, by which time they start wailing like a baby. We see this mostly when Wade is captured and 'duels' with him, only for him to lose and plead with Wade not to take his clothes this sounds really sus out of context. I didn't particularly care for him, which made some scenes drag as Wade's story with him was being addressed, but he's more of a stepping stone character for Wade's development.
I thought Knuckles and Wade themselves were funny for the most part, but it does begin to grate a little when their goofy humour is pretty much all you get. I get that Wade is the underdog guy, but it didn't feel much like he actually grew as a person. I thought perhaps he would learn to be more self-reliant and competent, but even at the end of the series, he mostly just stalled for Knuckles. This sort of ties into the complaint a lot of people have that the series focused less on Knuckles and more on Wade, which I agree with. It was set up at the start that Knuckles was looking to find his home and purpose, but it didn't feel like that was fully explored. It was sort of implied at the end that the Whipple's were his home, but it felt like a lose end more than a solid conclusion. I also wouldn't have minded if Knuckles actually spent time training Wade, but that didn't really happen either. Most of Wade's 'development' happened away from Knuckles, which made Knuckles feel more like a bit character a lot of the time.
And then there's Wanda Whipple. I'll be honest, I really disliked her character. For the first few minutes it was fine, but the entire scene with the Whipple family dinner just felt awkward and annoying to me. It felt like I was watching two children argue, which I suppose was the point, but watching a grown woman act like a child was just uncomfortable and felt like it was dragged out for ages. I think the only scene I found her funny in was towards the end when she dislocated her thumb, but that was about it. Every other scene she was in felt unenjoyable for me, and frankly I hope she's not in the third movie at all (or if she is, please make it short).
I suppose I could sum this complain up as there being too many comedic relief characters without there being straight-man characters to balance out the chaos. The beginning worked well because Sonic, Tails and Maddie worked as straight-men for Knuckles, so it was funny to watch him be a menace since we could see everyone else's reactions. But for the rest of the series, it was mostly just silly humour. Even the 'adult' jokes weren't particularly funny to me (thinking specifically about the metal detector scene), but maybe I'm just not the right demographic for this kind of series? Who knows.
I watched the series with my dad, and I agree with his thoughts on the series. He felt it could have been done in a movie instead of having a tv series that seemed to drag on a lot. I do agree that some scenes felt like they were going on for too long, which at times felt like I wasn't even watching a Sonic series at all. I guess they want to flesh out the characters unique to the movie universe, but it felt a bit weird to have Knuckles barely involved in the plot given the series was named after him.
It's unfortunate because I think that they initially set up something interesting. I thought they'd focus on the GUN agents pursuing Knuckles, with Knuckles training Wade along the way. But the GUN story got shelved almost immediately to focus more on the bowling stuff - Wade and Jack had an awkward sword dual, and Wade had a bowling match with his dad? I honestly thought The Buyer (that ex GUN weapons guy) would be Wade's dad, but instead we randomly got introduced to Pistol Pete...I dunno, it felt weird to me. It felt like they mashed three unfinished stories together into one weird amalgamation.
I feel like they could have focused more on the GUN agents plot. Perhaps they could have clashed a few times with Knuckles and Wade, but ultimately fail over and over. Wade would have learned indirectly from his warrior training to be strong enough to defeat Jack at bowling and show his progression. The GUN agents would be replaced by The Buyer after he grows tired of waiting for them to fulfil their deal, and who would be more of a threat. While that's happening in the background, we could watch the bowling tournament with Jack losing instead, then have The Buyer crash the party like he did in the actual series. But this is all just me brainstorming what I would have done.
Anyways, those are my thoughts. It's a shame since I love the Sonic movies a lot, but I'm not too worried about Sonic 3 based on this series. Jeff Fowler (the writer for the movies) only wrote the first episode of the series, which was arguably the best episode, so I am confident that Sonic 3 will be good. Admittedly it has me a little worried, but I'm trusting them to do Shadow justice with his debut.
Sorry this is such a long rambly post, but hopefully it's cohesive enough to follow for anyone actually reading it.

My weekly roundup CW 13
Well, I watch a lot during the week, as you all might know. I really want to write a little bit more about the stuff I watch, but time and work kind of get in my creative way. So I try to write down my thoughts after watching stuff to create a little weekly ranking in relation to the previous week on my, most of the times, quiet sundays (and because I love lists and this is a good excuse for me to create a new OneNote journal!).
The Promis is on hiatus, so it didn't make it on this week's list.
→ 1. Our Dating Sim (Ep 7+8 / The Final)
The final! It is so perfect. The whole story just feels realistic! How Wan makes his decision at the end is understandable and that they then offer him to develop a webseries out of the game, perfect. Ki Tae's fear of loss broke my heart. I can understand him so well. What I especially liked were the little things. How Ki Tae and Wan hold hands in the office, how Wan hugs Ki Tae a little tighter when he realizes how much his leaving in the past hurt Ki Tae. The whole birthday present with the snippets of Wan's life where he missed or thought of Ki Tae. Uhhh, that gives me goosebumps and tears in my eyes right away. The last scene where Wan says goodbye to Ki Tae and gives him little pats on the butt. This normal tenderness that belongs to most relationships was just beautiful to watch. It all seemed very natural and that's why again this week's number one goes to Our Dating Sim. And if people haven't already, check out the BTS…highly recommended!
→ 2. Unintentional Love Story (Ep 5+6)
Okay…I think it's so ridiculous that some people really skip the show because there is a Dead Fish kiss. The chemistry between the two is just awesome! I didn't watch that scene just one time. Yes, I just close my eyes for a moment or look away during the kiss, but the whole build up to the kiss and up to the second is so worth the watch! It is just so good! I felt it tingle in my stomach. I love the story of the two mains and also the second couple. I'm excited about the series and I really wish more people would watch it, despite the not so nice kiss. Yes, it sucked, but it doesn't take away from my enjoyment of the series. There were worse ones, but I probably didn't like the show that much either (All the liquors I'm looking at you).
↑ 3. A Shoulder To Cry On (Ep 5+6+7 / The Final)
Reading the comments on MDL, you can get really sad. It feels like every second person is upset that there wasn't a kiss and I'm sitting here, being glad that there was at least an "I like you". That's where they stayed true to the manhwa. Their love is a little different than others. They aren't big on romance, the bouquet of flowers at the end was really a lot. In general the weekend away was something special. And why not show this side of the romantic relationship? I think it's good that not everything always has to be so over-romanticized, but that relationships also sometimes start slowly, take their time until the characters feel comfortable with each other or just don't show that much affection. That doesn't mean they don't care for each other or love each other. It is so stupid to always demand a kiss. Not every relationship needs those and not every story needs them. I thought the series was great. Great chemistry and a cute story.
☼ 4. The Eighth Sense (Ep 1+2)
Ohhh such a good start. I love stories about surfers. I've been excited about the subject matter since "Shelter" (one of the best queer movies I've seen). The story starts with what I would say attraction/interest-at-first-sight and I like it so much. Also how the more introverted Ji Hyun comes out of his shell and wants to learn to surf to get closer to Jae Won, at least as a friend. I'm already looking forward to the heartbreak! It's going to hurt so good. If there's no happy ending, I'm starting a revolt. I really can recommend this series.
↑ 5. Jack o’Frost (Ep 6 / The Final)
All in all, the final was a bit unspectacular, but it fits the overall picture of the series. Not that it was bad or boring, but it was told at a steady pace and I like that. I think it's nice that Ritsu was able to remember everything at the end and give the relationship a second chance. Now the reason for forgiving Fumiya, that he hid from him they didn't meet each other for the first time at the cafe, I thought was a bit weak, but again sweet because he was able to give their shared history a different meaning. The way he forgot everything about Fumiya after his accident and can now remember everything about him has something very romantic and I think that this time they'll manage to communicate and make each other happy.
↑ 6. Bed Friend (Ep 7)
I wanted to hit them all! King, you stupid idiot! The man you love comes out of the boss's office visibly distraught and you can't think of anything better to do than accuse him of doing it on purpose? Your stupid jealousy comes at the shittiest time ever here! A slap for you! And Krit…you fucking asshole! I'm really uncomfortable watching him act. Not just the sexual assault, but the invasion of Uea's privacy when he showed up at his family's home. That's where it really shakes me. A kick in the nuts for you. And at the end, Uea's mom gets a load too. What a bitch! I hate her. It's good that Uea was finally able to stand up to her a bit. Hopefully he can cut off contact altogether. I big fat slap on her filthy mouth. I feel sorry for his poor sister too. What a crappy episode full of trauma and pain! Honestly, I'm so fascinated by how Uea continues to stand tall. I would have broken down. But he's a strong guy! Jade was the sweetheart in this episode. A little silly at times, but a true good friend.
↓ 7. Chains Of Heart (Ep 7)
Oh man. This show is killing me. Can't they finally kiss? What is this series waiting for? Something until the last episode? Looking at the previews, I don't even want to see the next episode…But back to this episode, where it felt like hardly anything happened. There was a stupid fight in an alley, sorry, but Hin really shouldn't fight…it looks way too posed. I don't like DeeDee. He is way too possessive of Ken for me. You two aren't dating and just because you are jealous doesn't mean Mr. Lue is a bad person. Yes, I'm still on his side. Poor little guy. Had to get drunk this week out of heartbreak. Ken was mean though…Well, they still ended up in bed together in the end! And the scene with the friends outside the door was indeed hilarious. I also think Din as Mr. Lue is trying to expose our one-eyed man and his illegal dealings, and the purchase of the wood is meant to be a trap. At least something I can take away from this episode as insight.
→ 8. A Boss And A Babe (Ep 5)
I don't know, I think Gun approaches the whole thing a bit too offensively. I really didn't like the kiss in the car. To see how confused and jealous Cher is, however, I find very sweet again. Yes, Gun has to bring out the big guns to show Cher that he likes him, but just because our boy just don't get what Gun is trying to tell him doesn't mean I have to like what he's doing. I continue to think it's good that Gun values Cher's opinion so much. I think he needs that kind of appreciation a lot, especially considering his past. Oh yeah, I think they're cute together.
→ 9. Tin Tem Jai (Ep 5)
And we took 45 steps back and the show is kind of annoying like before...Tin can't stop aksing Park to marry him and it gets to a point where it just annoys the crap out of me. But Park can't say a clear word so what do we do here? Just let him date the cute senior and Park sucking up on his jealousy. I feel there is no progress between those two.
→ 10. PastSenger (Ep 4)
I'm writing the recap on sunday and honestly, I don't remember what happened. All I remember is that they almost kissed, in Kiao's memory of their clash they kissed. There were so many filler scenes in it. I don't have to watch the friends eat for ten minutes without anything happening or talking. I didn't get the slave thing either. Why am I still watching it? I don't know. Now I have The Eighth Sense to watch on wednesdays and I'm so much more into it! And these stupid revenge plots…Oh man, you're in university and not in kindergarten anymore.

You know, on one hand I'm very interested in seeing seasons 6-9 of Fim but on the other hand I'm worried that I won't like it. Some people say they're not as good, but then again, some people also say Fim was ruined after Twilight became an alicorn princess but I disagree with that. Even after that, she still remains a funny friend and a bookish nerd interested in learning (or as she's been called in Swedish, en plugghäst).
I say go for it! If you don't like it, just pretend it never happened and keep loving the earlier seasons! but don't knock it till you try it, or how the saying goes 🤔😆💙💙
Tumblr media
I agree with you that twilight is still great after magical mystery cure/magiskt mysterium! I literally haven't got a clue what people are talking about when they say they don't but that's their opinion I guess 💜🌟💜
I can say personally I absolutely LOVE season 6 onwards ( except for like some minor things in season 8 & 9 but it's fine, season 8 & 9 is very different from the rest of the series and I think season 8 especially might not be for everybody since it introduces a bunch new characters, and a new location and feels kind of like a different series (personally I think the new characters are pretty enjoyable ^^)
if you watch mlp in swedish you might be saddened by the sudden change of rainbow dash's voice actor in season 8 that continues till the end of the show (I know I was, I had a meltdown over it 😅) BUT her new voice can be pretty adorable after getting used to it, but it's a pretty stark difference so that might take a rewatch, I'd say her new VA is at a disadvantage coming in so late when everyone else is already super familiar with their characters. Jill Wrethagen never really tried to sound like Ashleigh which is part of what made her so great to me (I love RDs english voice duh but what I mean here is I love when VA's aren't afraid to put their own spin on things and make their characters their own, it really makes for a more unique and charismatic performance!) her new voice really tries to do an english RD voice in swedish and as a result comes of a little forced at times, or mabey make her sound a bit more angry/whiney at certain points, but try to give her a chance! while I didn't like this change in the slightest after getting used to it I actually find her pretty cute as well 😊🌈💙
💖 here's a list of a few season 6 onwards episode I think most fans would enjoy even if they might not like those seasons (imo ofcourse) 💖:
the saddle row review/ den stora recensionen (THIS ONE'S SO FUNNY YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT!!!! 🤣🤣)
applejacks "day" off/ applejacks lediga dag (such a great applejack episode!!! has one of my fave really funny rainbow dash moments, great if you like rarijack or look before you sleep/ titta innan du sover I think 🧡🧡🧡 ^^)
spice up your life/ krydda ditt liv (cutie map episode with pinkie and rarity that has an awesome song and a pretty likeable pair of new characters with a friendship problem)
p.p.o.v. (pony point of view)/ ponnyperspektiv
apples and pears/ äpplen och päron (this episode is SO good, highly recommend it to everyone ever 🍐🍎)
secrets and pies/ hemligheten är pajad (omg best pinkie and rainbow dash episode, if you like any other episodes with them together or like party of one/ ensamfest or griffon the brush off/ den avspisande gripen you'll love this one!!
horse play/ pjäsfadäs (super funny celestia and twilight episode)
sound of silence/ tysta strömmen
going to seed/ skörde mästaren (really good sibling episode with aj & apple bloom)
trivial pursuit/ triviatraven (pinkie & twilight episode! if you like feeling pinkie keen /känna pinkie skarpt or their friendship in general I feel like you'd enjoy this!)
28 pranks later/ 28 spratt senare
cart before the ponies / kärran går först (the song is super good in swedish and if you like the cmc and their sisters or sleepless in ponyville I think you'll enjoy it)
I picked these because most of them don't have as much "new" stuff in them or feel like they could've been in earlier seasons, but also because I just think they're really fun episodes! although personally I'm a big fan of starlight glimmer and trixie and there's a lot of them in the later seasons ofcourse! I really think you should give season 6 - 9 a try, you're bound to like at least SOME of the episodes/songs/scenes! I really think it's worth trying! maybe let me know what you think if you do, I'd love to hear about it! ^^ 💖💜💖💜💖💜💖💜💖💜

I mean if we talking about looks josh oconnor and if we talking about acting mike and josh are pretty fairly even but I'll give the edge to josh. I know mike hasnt been it alot of films but hes great in theatre and really knows how to command the stage( I also really liked him in that pinball movie and his very small role in bikeriders along with west side story). However josh is just a gifted performer, has natural chemistry and always brings these nauaced and layered performances, La chimera his other upcoming film hes fanatstic and speaks italian for 95 % of the film.
Side note: ansel was the worst part of west side story, was so stiff and lifeless compare that to mike faist, danny ramirez , ariana debose amd rachel zelger who each had great moments ansel on other hand was giving nothing 😭😭😭
Yes! Agree with so much of this 👏🏾
I think Mike and Josh are both great actors. That's one of the reasons why I can't wait to see them in "Challengers" with Z 😊
I haven't seen as many of their projects as you have, but when I go to watch smthg of theirs, I'm never worried that their performance is going to be bad or lackluster, cuz it's always hitting. 💯
Which pinball movie are you referring to that Mike did. And you've already seen "The Bikeriders"? 👀 I'm excited to see Mike, Tom, and Austin in that. 😃
I looooved Josh in "The Crown"! 🥰 He did such an awesome job in that series. 👏🏾 Haven't seen his other work though, but I've always heard good things about his performance.
Re: Ansel....
I didn't think he was awful in West Side Story, I just don't know if he was the best person for that role. 🤔 I'm not sure how much chemistry I sensed btwn him and Rachel either. But hey, he can sing and dance... 🤷🏾‍♀️ Rachel and Ariana were amazing though. 👏🏾 Mike was great too. You can tell he comes from the stage.
I'll never forget how they couldn't even promote the film as much as they needed to because of Ansel's r*pe allegations. 😫😩

Island finale + ... this one isn't for the weak
Pardon my french in advance. Of course there are spoilers in here. The blog is called "I love spoilers".
Tumblr media
One last memory of Won Miho, a smart, intelligent woman, who went to Jeju island by her father's orders to teach ethics. I loved that awesome hair and fashion sense and self-confidence, determination, strength and cool temper. And drifting demon race in pt1. It's good they brought her back in those last few minutes, at least.
Shall we do this for the old times sake? Here goes.
Island Finale, what the hell did I watch?!
Ok, let's be graceful. The series got me exhausted. Being emotionally involved isn't the best option with this one... If you haven't watched it already and love the genre, expect mess, confusion and cognitive dissonance. Or not, it's fine.
My heart goes to two greatly significant characters. I can't stop thinking about them and I'm so grateful neither of them died by the other's hand . Putting aside both actors' charm, these two characters grew on me. One of them being a deeply misunderstood vengeful killer machine. And the other, adorable goofy exorcist.
Tumblr media
Since this two parts story finally ended, it made me think about half-demon brothers and why is it that one of them is utterly evil and beyond redemption in the eyes of our little Island community while the other one is practically absolved of all of his "sins".
Both brothers are trained killers (to be correct, abused since early childhood by Jijangjong Temple’s clan) and that's exactly what they've been doing their entire lives - committing murders. The only difference is:
One of them was lucky enough to turn into what he was supposed to become, according to plan - emotionless killer. Knife accepted him easily.
The other brother's transformation didn't go according to the plan. His feelings somehow never disappeared, pain and suffering destroyed him - he cracked under the pressure just as anyone would
First one believed that Wonjeong can give them their human lives back, his bloodthirst was ulterior motive (and I'll get to that a bit later)
The other was hypersensitive one and could see through the clan's lies. Even as broken as he was. His humanity made him trust Yeomji later on, making them both susceptable to Baek's clan manipulation
Were those two brothers really that different to begin with? Pan brought wounded Wonjeong back to the temple. After hurting her. Because he believed she could save them. By doing so he turned his back on his brother. Gungtan followed him knowing he'd get punished for it, his loyalty unmatched. While Wonjeong was living her life being trained to fulfill her destiny yet having a sense of freedom, boys were chained and starved. She would bring them food, but she never gained Gungtan's trust again - and his hunch was right. She was the end of both brothers.
If there's God in this story, then the moment Pan stabbed Wonjeong and a piece of divine crystal entered him was that God's doing. Pan gained a piece of humanity, by ending a life of a living person, accidentally or not. It never suffocated his urge to kill, but it made him more aware of all the lives taken by the lust demon and then by his own half-demon hands. That didn't make him less of a killer, but it did clear his mind of fog (which made him realise both he and Gungtan have to die in order to set themselves free), he gained control over himself and his impulse to kill - even though his yearning for Miho still made him want to kill her, let's not forget that. He is a lust demon, afterall, which does sound awfully like a vampire, but I'll let it slide.
Vampires, however, often end up killing their loved ones, unless they learn how to control their bloodthirst. I can't help but consider both of them vampires, in a way.
Tumblr media
Boy got therapy and it (partially) worked. And everybody fell for him as if he's an angel sent from heavens and his past has been erased. That's not how it works, but fine. Fine. I'm fine with people being there for him. But something is not adding up here, there's still no sympathy for Gungtan. Why?
Ah, Gungtan, the villain. Once a boy who loved his brother so much that he gave up his own freedom/life for him. Took the beatings for bringing Wonjeong back. And turned his back on the whole human race for good. His love was the purest love they showed us, but it's not in the focus, so it's easy to run it over like it never existed. He ended up chained in the dark for years. No therapy. No nothing. Left to rot. Oh but he can't die, because he's not human. Torture lasted and lasted. Then he was set free only to be used again. Was mercy ever given to him in any way? Was he ever given any chance to become something different from what he became? Is there anything this demon-slayer knows of, other than abuse, punishment, betrayal and smell of blood? He is as self-destructive as it gets, there's no turning back from his path of soul torture. Character development inconsistencies are out there on the surface, so let's not go into that any further.
He's a hyperviligant killing tool but he can't stay indifferent towards a little girl covering his feet with her jacket. That was it for me. I couldn't care less about any other character at that point. I fell for the deeply wounded devil that he is. Completely. Why? Because I'm Bob the builder, duh. Because in the real world, where real and often horrible things happen, anyone can become a target of abuse and turn into someone like Gungtan. Often completely unaware of it. Leave out the killing and you have a very realistic character. Psychologically, it's a hell of a ride to get back up on tracks afterwards. And people think it takes a lot to become a villain, they don't have the potential, something like that can never happen to them, so why not wish death upon a fictional character who suffered more than enough for a thousand lifetimes.
I'm not buying any of the moralist-on-duty shit. Leave. Him. Alone.
Tumblr media
I wish he could have run away that instant, somewhere, anywhere, before the Baek clan put their magic manipulation skills to work. I wish he was safe and in peace. I can't put any blame on him for what he became. And what he did. Especially since it is strongly suggested he was used like a puppet after they woke him up. His anger was used for a "greater" evil purpose. I can't help but wanting to reach out and get him the hell out of there.
Despite general opinion of the Island community and Mr. Gungtan himself, he isn't that different from his brother Pan at all. He cracked under the pressure, yet he didn't need a magical crystal fragment to sober up and help another abused child, which he wouldn't do if he had no feelings left in him. Pan believed in Wonjeong, Gungtan believed in Yeomji, but neither of those girls could help the brothers. And no matter how much they wanted to live, death was the only escape from the constant hellfire brought upon them. Gungtan needed to escape his untameable urge for revenge which led him to madness, Pan needed to escape the burden of his heavy dirty bloodthirsty soul.
Tumblr media
May I add, Miho never sold out Pan, like Yeomji, who switched sides like a spineless creature. Yes, she's a kid and could never measure up to Miho. Her influence, if there ever was any, ended once Baek clan took over Gungtan. The same clan known for their magical manipulation skills. Gungtan's misery just doesn't stop. Once again he's nothing but a killing tool.
The brothers escaped their personal hell by ending their own lives - which is why I'm not mad about the ending. Their suffering stopped, at last. Finally. Their inner demons were swallowed by the underworld. Gungtan's little smile at the end, that sigh of relief as lust demon left his body and he was finally free, that moment was e v e r y t h i n g
But you know what else was everything? Seeing my favourite Island manhwa character coming to life on screen. Finally! Well done, cgi team, well done!
Tumblr media
In previous life or death battle, my boy Gio almost died. Ahh, how many times I yelled at the screen for him to just stay out of other people's business but thankfully he survived it all. He is my favourite goofy guy who makes people write witty texts about him. The only priest, real or fictional, I've ever liked and will ever like. Look at this fluffball. Must. Protect. Him. (╥﹏╥)
Thankfully, Johan survived all the battles, which weren't even his own to begin with and which lead me to believe he'd meet a tragic end sooner or later. Ah but that's the part of his charm - sticking his nose in other people's business so we never know if he'll live or not. There would be some ugly crying if something tragic actually happened to him. And just like in pt1, he was left on hold while bleeding to death. This time it was even more horrible than before.
Tumblr media
Pan, seriously? Like "brb, let me just-". I swear, at some point this thing turned into such a grotesque show. Plot has twisted so hard it was unbearable to watch at times. But, Johan picked himself up from the brink of death, thanks to his badass powers. Amen!
Despite the fact that finale brought so much sadness to entire audience, either for the main villain's death or PanxMiho not happening in a million years (which I'll forever be grateful for), that final fight was amazing. Writers finally gave us a large portion of enjoyable action. Plus, Gungtan wasn't the end of Johan and vice versa. Honestly, that's more than generous from their part, since Gungtan's downfall was imminent and it all went downhill long time ago, anyways.
Tumblr media
Hope they don't bring us pt3. Sorry. I'm done with the massacre of manhwa plotlines and characters. Starred actors were amazing. Talent and looks, you know, everything. Especially absolutely stunning Lee Da-hee. Craaaazy talented and amazing Sung Joon♡ But. Please. No. More. Island.
Well, with too pure for this world cutie, I conclude my thoughts. It's been fun.
Sailor Pluto wishes you a great day and more enjoyable kdrama,
Till next time, xx
P.S. If you've made it this far, wow, congratulations. It must not have been easy navigating that pile of chaos. Also, there are so many things I edited out of the "original" text, trying to keep my cool. Also, if for any reason you (dis)liked my interpretation of fictional characters of Island, my ask box is always open. (◠‿◕)
P.P.S. Dear gifmakers, if you want me to remove any of your GIFs from my posts, please feel free to contact me, it will be done immediately. Thank you for all your work for our little community (✿ ♡‿♡)

last weekend I had the pleasure of watching Gankutsuou with a friend who hadn't seen it yet (as a part of our ongoing "let me show you a piece of media that made me who I am today" series lol). and even after the 20th rewatch, it's still the best anime out there!! the only reason i haven't drawn more fanart for it is cause it already gives me everything I could wish for.
anyway, thank you for sticking with me for this long! hope you're having a great day 💕
