Funny how in 4×18, when everything was going according to Chuck's plan, when there was no way Dean could have changed the course of his or Sam's fate, the whole script was altered just because Cas chose Dean over heaven for the first time. When Chuck goes "I didn't write this..." after Dean comes to take him back to Sam's room, he's genuinely surprised. It all changed because Cas took his first practical step away from heaven and towards Dean. Chuck hadn't predicted one of his angels would fall in love.

misha collins has always been destiel fan #1 and i stand by that.
the cw and warner brothers tried to restrain him, they tried to silence him. at one point they even tried to fire him.
but through it all, he persevered. he continued to stoke the fire for years and years with his subtle hints. saucy jokes. ambiguous comments and answers to questions about dean and cas. the network tried to muzzle him, but he always wiggled out of it.
and in the end, misha won. i respect the hell out of him for always pushing the boundaries, even when it bit him in the ass repeatedly.

The reason for the ambiguity Misha references--the it could be that, or it could be something else--was the writers writing Destiel into the canon with queer coding, without tripping corporate alarms that would result in a hard no and a full shutdown. Queer coding is still part of canon, although not operating the same way things do when writers have a greenlight to make it expressly clear. They got that for Castiel's confession. Dean's side is still in the ambiguous area but is the same goals and method as with Castiel. People need to learn to add 2+2 and get 4. With Cas, they got a greenlight to make it absolutely clear text. Dean therefore...is only missing that final step. Right along, once the writers started doing the hints, both Dean and Cas were queer coded, and interested in each other. Missing the final piece on Dean's side doesn't make it "imaginary" or fake or not part of the canon that Dean is bi, and in love with Cas. It's that Cas is the only one that got the clear runway to go loud and clear. I think Dean's side isn't subtle. I don't think it's all that hard to spot what the writers were doing. And we also know from a previous statement from Misha that both he and Jensen, and the writers, "leaned into it."
The fact that the denialism about Castiel's side of it is still at ridiculous levels despite that being expressly greenlit and made expressly clear but we still have to wade through denialism about Cas being queer and in love with Dean.
I am not going to have patience with people who play denialism on the queer coding on Dean's side, even if we don't have expressly greenlit openness like with Cas.
This shouldn't have to be such an issue, or people get hate just for reading Dean as bi, let alone the ongoing hatred and denialism about queer Cas in love with Dean. Queer coding exists.
We have multiple confirmations how purposefully the writers set about doing this despite the ceiling placed from above. They were not mocking shippers. They weren't telling you that you're insane for seeing it with one hand while doing Destiel with the other. It's that they couldn't speak. It's that they didn't have a full greenlight. So they pushed it as far as they could. It's real. It's part of the crafting of the series. It's in the text. It wasn't queerbaiting, because the intention wasn't to dangle and rug yank, and not take it seriously, the intention was to put Destiel in there, while having to dodge external obstacles that would stifle it.
More people need to understand how queer coding can be part of canon or the methods creatives in Hollywood still to this day have to resort to for how media and "canon" and queer coding works.
"Cas is gay" is expressly canon and is loudly spoken. I'm still waiting on WBD US to acknowledge it in spn promotional materials, and quit going with this pretending it's not there while they look the other way and permit it, but it's still out there, it's done.
"Dean is bi" is queer coded still, but that doesn't mean we can't say Dean is bi in the canon and in love with Cas, because that is what the canon coded for Dean. It's there. It's not...out there the way Castiel's confession moved things for Cas. But it's there.
Castiel's confession was confirmation on what many people had already noticed and things already built into the story. It wasn't "out of nowhere." It wasn't inserted at the last minute for "pandering." It was the final step in a years long build. Dean's feelings for Cas...had similar build and the next step would be--

I just watched Hannibal for the first time and I have major feelings about it.
Like first of all, I went into this with the knowledge that Hannigram was a big ship. Like Destiel or Wolfstar levels of widely accepted. I didn’t realize how ACTUALLY canon this was. I was totally prepared for subtle scenes that hinted at romance. This show is a murder rom-com.
Hannibal loved Will, and he showed that the only way he knew how. And Will loved Hannibal, and he hated that he loved Hannibal. I love the dynamic of their love. It’s fascinating to watch.
Probably an unpopular opinion, but I don’t like Abigail. I feel like having her live was unnecessary and kind of ruined a lot for me. I feel that her plot points were minor and other things could fill her parts in the story. I found her largely unnecessary and I didn’t enjoy her character.
I do enjoy Margot and Alana. I found Alana vaguely annoying in earlier episodes, but loved her character arc towards the end. I do think that there’s a lot of hypocrisy about Hannibal and her relationship with Margot, especially because she knows that Margot killed Mason and was very manipulative of Will.
Overall, I loved this series. I honestly can’t believe it took me this long to watch it, but I am so pleased that I did. I’m now hyper fixated on Hannigram, and have read at least 500 of the fanfics on archiveofourown so far. 1000% recommend, and if you want a list of really good fanfics that made me bookmark them, let me know, cuz I have 31 book marked right now that are EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD

I know I can’t speak for everyone, but I think it’s funny how a big portion of us were very unsure when we started The Winchesters. A lot of us don’t like John and John and Mary’s relationship and we knew how it was going to disregard canon and we were all like 😑 but decided to watch the show anyways because we knew Dean was a part of it somehow and because of all the subtle Cas hinting. And we’re all desperate for more SPN content apparently and we were going to give Jensen a chance. Then we all start watching the show and by the first few episodes we’re like 🤨 hmmm there might be something more going on here and there are some Destiel things but ehhh and then the Dean reveal happened and we were all like 😧⁉️and now we’re all going bathshit insane over this show and have infinite levels of brain rot and now we’re all convinced that Dean is going to bring himself back to life and Destiel is going to go canon

I have been seeing how the SuperWhoLock era on tumblr back in 2010s replaced with another holy trinity today, which are Good Omens, Our Flag Means Death and What We Do In The Shadows.
I must say one thing; GAYS, WE DID IT!
I want need to share some of my feelings and it will be a little too long to read.
I was in high school in superwholock era and I have been in tumblr all the time and witnessed all the superwholock era, the marauders fancast era, the glee era.
I remember the Wolfstar, I remember us trying to get hints about Destiel for 15 f*cking seasons and I remember trying to prove people how Sherlock was autistic and in love with John and probably ace. Even Benedict said he didn’t think Sherlock was autistic at some point. We tried to make sense how the doctor ends up being a cis hetero white man every time even though they are AN ALIEN.
We were trying to find people like us in things we love, we were trying to feel represented by the stories we created and added to the things we loved.
I am not trying to be a hater, I loved superwholock with all my heart and i still do. I still even love harry potter and glee with all the problematic things in them because of how they made me feel back then. I know it wasn’t always producer’s or writer’s fault. I know Hannibal was made subtle because of the network. I know first thing RTD did when he came back was casting a black queer man.
But still I cannot tell you the relief of not hunting for clues anymore. I cannot tell you the relief how my representation is not a headcanon anymore. I am a autistic queer woman and I am happy with my life now, I know who I am, I love who I am. But the relief of knowing that little girl from 10-15 years ago would have such an easier life today. I am ineffably happy to see how clear our representation is today. I just hope it will get better and better everyday.
Thank you Good Omens,
Thank you Our Flag Means Death,
Thank you What We Do In The Shadows,
Thank you every other story that has diversity, not a forced kind of diversity which is only for PR but kind of diversity makes us feel seen, feels organic,
Thank you Gen Z for being louder than us, for calling out the bullshit, for not praising the bare minimum,
And most importantly;
Thank you all the millenials who were so talented and made the additional stories which finally included me, who were trying to find a world they fitted in back then and who are still here making sure it is easiar for the little ones.
I love you all ♥️

Basically just some destiel pining
Tumblr media
Cas' footsteps echoed throughout the bunker as he made his way to the living room. He was about to excitedly tell Dean about a case that he and Sam had discovered in Houston about the Loch Ness Monster, but stopped in his tracks when he saw Dean sleeping peacefully on their tattered leather couch, recliner out, arms crossed. Cas felt his lips tug upwards, a little more after he heard a slight snore emit from Dean. He then grabbed a thin blanket hanging on the edge of the couch to cover the sleeping brunette. He got down close to fully drape the blanket over Dean and-
'Has he always had that many freckles?' He thought abruptly. No, really, he was perplexed. You would think that carefully and painstakingly putting someone back together would make you notice every little detail about said person but, no. This was completely new to him. Cas continued to stare at Dean's sleeping face, hovering over him, wondering how this detail slipped through the cracks.
He was so engrossed with, now counting exactly how many freckles Dean's face had, that he didn't notice Dean start to slowly blink awake and turn his head. He jumped at the sight of the unknown figure. Out of reflex, he reached for his knife on the outside of his jean pocket. As soon as his sleep addled brain realized that it was Cas standing before him and not a rouge vampire, he immediately groaned. "Damnit, Cas!" He exclaimed, a phrase that felt way too easy to say. He dragged a hand over his face while taking a deep breath. "What did I say about watching me while I sleep?" He asked calmly, but with an annoyed expression. Cas normally couldn't explain his actions, but this time he had an excuse. "Dean, I'm sorry, I just… never realized you had so many freckles." This caused Dean to pause, then let out a small chuckle. He couldn't stay mad at Cas even if he tried.
"Really, dude? That's what's got your angelic panties in a twist?" He sat up from his slouched position, wincing a bit at his twinged spine. "One, I do not wear panties and two, yes. I am very fascinated by them. Who knew the human face could contain galaxies within them?" Cas said softly, tilting his head like he was trying to study each one of Dean's freckles one by one. Dean, on the other hand, was stunned. Is that what Cas really thought about his face? Dean, on various occasions and various benders, had looked into his mirror and hated what stared back at him, so hearing this comment from Cas made his face heat up with joy. And maybe with love too, but Cas doesn't need to know that. Dean shook off the feeling in fear of the situation being weird and simply said, "Thanks, man."
"You're welcome." Cas replied. "Oh, and 79." Dean rolled his eyes, knowing what he was referring to. "Am I really that interesting to stare at, Cas?" Dean asked sarcastically, but with a hint of genuine curiosity.
"Dean, your face and body contain complexities and wonders that I have never seen from any other human. Your subtle mannerisms fascinate me and your slight face twitches are like an artist dancing his paintbrush across a canvas. Everything you do fills me with such an overwhelming sense of warmth. Yes, Dean. You are 'interesting' to look at. Oh, I actually came out here to talk to you about a case that Sam and I found. May I please explain it to you?"
Dean was in absolute awe. There were so many things he wanted to say and ask. What could possibly be the reason that Cas has all of these nice things to say about me? Why do I of all people deserve this? What warmth? But all he said was, "Sure man. Lay it on me."
Dean had wanted to confront Cas about their relationship for a long time now. A big part of his hesitant nature was that he didn't want to ruin their friendship and have Cas hate him. But this gave him a little bit of hope.

If destiel goes on screen canon we really deserve a scene that tracks all the subtle hints of being in love with each other and there are just so many Dean is like “We get it man chop chop, fast forward we only need the important” and someone’s like the original is five times longer we might miss <what they’re looking for> if they skip anymore
Especially with the time travel concept. It would be hilarious and rightly cathartic

Hellers can claim that they've been queerbaited as much as they want, the fact is that it is their fault for continously listening to someone like Mooch even after the 'straight-coming-out' fiasco. It is obvious what this guy's aim was/is. He is attention and money seeking from a rather rabid fan group who can fill his needs.
Hellers also have absolutely no right to accuse the show of queerbaiting. Despite self-proclaiming themselves as 'master readers of queer text and subtext and coding', Hellers do not even know how queercoding subtext or text even work.
Dean drinking cucumber water in one scene or the so-called ''bi lighting'' or wearing ''bi colored flannels'' are not queer-coding. It's literally making stuff up your ass and calling it a day and tapping yourselves on the back for supposedly realizing the 'obvious queercoding and subtext'. These are the guys who claimed Dean dancing with a lamp was a proof that he was imagining dancing with Castiel because Castiel was supposed to be the lamp in that scene, so it was queercoding and a nod to Destiel (yeah buddy sure....). These are the guys who legit claimed and pointed to Dean's FBI jacket (with the collar covering the 'F') as "proof" that he's bisexual.
That's straight up baiting themselves. They're still doing the same thing regarding the prequel, trying to find things that are not there, deluding themselves and thinking the show is baiting them. That's just insane.
Agree completely. They want queercoding to mean "calling literally everything Dean does queer means it's totes true". No. That's not what queercoding means or how subtext works.
In their heads, finding super sneakret signals to Dean's REAL sexuality in his every action shows how totally intentional and undeniable it is! It's literally impossible for Dean to be straight with all of this proof that shows up every single second he's onscreen! Except in reality, what it actually shows? Is how obsessed they are that they're insisting literally everything is a signal of queerness and how little they care about actual representation because it all magically only counts when it's Dean. What he eats, what he drinks, what he wears, what he stands next to, how he makes eye contact, who he talks to, etc.? There is nothing they haven't tried to turn into a hint towards proving bi!Dean and D/C.
That's not about what the writers intend, nor even any kind of genuine unconscious social cues about queerness. That's entirely about their personal myopic obsession with trying to force what they want to happen in a fictional show into reality by insisting everything is about their ship because they say so.
They weren't queerbaited by anyone but themselves and Misha, and as you say, even that is pretty much on them because subtle he is not. There was literally nothing the show could do that hellers wouldn't see as proof of what they wanted to see anyway. They ignored the million times it was reiterated by all the showrunners that SPN was the story of Sam & Dean. Singer and J2 explicitly said D/C wasn't part of the canon story. Dean's orientation was clarified several times in his own words. Even having Castiel and Dean spend less screen time together was turned into batshit "negative space" meta where we could supposedly see how in lurve they were by how Castiel's presence was missing from scenes!
It is genuinely an unhealthy, unhinged obsession of their own creation, nothing more and nothing less.

I think the funniest thing about the unparalleled media experience that is SPN is that eventually we are gonna realise that a lot of, if not most of the conspiracy theories were RIGHT.
J2 fallout theory began before the finale even aired. I think its safe to say it was at least SOMEWHAT accurate even if all the details arent known. The messy twitter drama and Jared's complete and utter exclusion from the Winchesters when everyone and their mother was invited to guest star from the other SPN cast is embarassingly obvious if you ask me. If Jared wasnt such a huge asshole I think I'd actually feel bad for him. Plus the obvious awkwardness and not even subtle shade at cons.
Jackles long con conspiracy is hilariously accurate. I remember the speculation during his Sexy Silence era, wondering if he hated the finale as much as we did, and getting laughed at for daring to suggest he wasnt super happy with that gross ending. Then he starts dropping shade and subtly dragging it until eventually he just came out and admitted he wasnt happy, that The Winchesters is legit an attempt to fix things. The Winchesters finale goes on to prove that, and yes, as OP says, the discussion with Misha about Cas returning surely means Jackles has already made up his mind about a DeanCas reunion. It may not look like what we all dream it will look like, but its still in keeping with the conspiracy that Jackles has been plotting to fix things since before the finale even aired.
Even if the big Destiel part of the conspiracy theory isnt as accurate, it still has a basis in reality, based on what Jackles said at Jibcon. He DOES want to see Dean respond to Cas' confession. We have finally moved out of the "Dean was silenced" era because Jackles himself has basically in a round about way confirmed that Dean was in fact silenced.
The other big conspiracy theory within SPN fandom is about the circumstances of the finale and the level of meddling and changes to the end. Misha has already confirmed that Cas was supposed to be there, that he WAS cut out completely and "covid reasons" is a bullshit excuse. If we track all the weird contradictory explanations Misha has given us over the past 2 years its obvious he had some NDA in place preventing him from actually telling the truth. Its only recently he has admitted to Cas's presence in the OG finale script. Once again the conspiracy that certain parties behind the scenes worked hard to remove any and all elements connected to Destiel isn't exactly a stretch. The finale WAS supposed to hint at a reunion between Dean and Cas in heaven. I heard recently that the one pathetic Cas mention of "Cas helped" was an on the day addition that they were thankfully able to sneak in, because he legit was erased completely. This may still be a conspiracy theory, but eventually I believe it will also be proven true - especially as time moves on and intolerence towards queer stories becomes less and less acceptable and queerbaiting becomes a thing of the past. Someone is gonna blab eventually. I can't wait to see Tumblrs reaction when it happens.
Then we have the "Chuck Won" theory. It was initially purely within the realms of meta analysis among those angry and hurt by the ending. It makes sense in so many ways, so much more sense than accepting the totally out of character finale at face value. But there never used to be much merit in it as a legit theory beyond giving hurt fans something to latch onto.
The fact that The Winchesters finale has raised more questions than it has answered, that it has blown the lid wide open on the Chuck Won theory is brilliant and a bit mind blowing. Canonically it is clear that something isn't right. Dean isn't happy and he isnt at peace, and Jack is acting wildly out of character far beyond the realms of bad writing. Its intentional imo. Because everything in this show is intentional.
I genuinely thought I had left this whole universe of maddening conspiracy theories and baffling BTS drama behind me. But its so freaking enticing I cant stop myself from diving back in. No offence to the Sherlock girlies, but the SPN conspiracies are so far removed from TJLC its impossible to compare them. The SPN conspiracies are one by one, bit by bit, slowly but surely, proving themselves true. For a show that ended over 2 years ago it really is an insane state of affairs. There is nothing else quite like the SPN Experience.
truly mind blowing thing to me personally is that the jackles long con truthers... well. maybe they weren't Absolutely Right but they were not Wrong either. he asked Misha to portray Cas on the winchesters. he did. and if cas is here the reunion is inevitable, also: “i hope we will get to see that someday / i think it will go the way we all think it would”. wild

More Subtle Destiel?
So I noticed in S10Ep16 “Paint it Black” at the end of the episode, Dean laughs: “Who mixes their blood and bones into paint? No woman’s ever done that for me.”
I’m sorry, I know he’s not a woman, but hasn’t Castiel used his blood as paint for sigils and spells on multiple occasions? Like right from the beginning? And ever since then?
Dean, this is why he’s acting the way he is in the newest season. Give your boy some recognition...

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek! I’m completely blown away by this incredible piece of fanart! It really was such an amazing and unexpected surprise—it totally made my day! I had no idea that the question you asked was a sneaky way to gather info for fanart. 😁 I’ve always loved getting questions in comments because it gives me a chance to dive deeper into the worlds I create and chat about all the little details that don’t always make it into the final story. So, getting to answer a question was a treat in and of itself.
I know I’ve told you before, but knowing that something I shared inspired you to create a piece of art is just the best feeling ever and makes me want to start working on the next chapter ASAP. (Which I will do once I’m done here because I’m bouncing around grinning from ear to ear right now and all excited about the next chapter.) It’s like a creative loop where we’re feeding off each other’s energy and ideas, and I absolutely love it. 🥰
I can't express how much I love all the details you put into it. First off, Dean and Cas look absolutely adorable together. The way you captured their dynamic fits that scene perfectly. It’s the perfect mix of tension, affection, and underlying emotions. I’m always in awe of how you manage to bring that across. It’s spot on. Dean’s confident, almost teasing demeanor contrasts beautifully with Cas’ more uncertain, wide-eyed expression, and it fits the moment from that scene so well.
Dean is all self-assured, the hint of a smirk playing on his lips, leaning in like he knows exactly what he’s doing (even if he might be winging it a little), while Cas has this deer-in-the-headlights expression.
The positions/ body language here is everything. With Dean on top of Cas and their faces just inches apart, the tension between them is palpable. It’s like they’re frozen in that moment right before something big happens, and you can practically feel the anticipation.
Cas’ expression while looking up at Dean is absolutely perfect—he’s so caught off guard and oblivious to Dean’s flirting techniques, and it’s hilarious in the best way. And Dean, leaning down as if they’re about to kiss, an almost cocky look on his face, clearly thinks he’s making the smoothest move ever. It’s such a classic Dean moment, and you’ve captured it beautifully. It’s a subtle but powerful representation of the push-and-pull dynamic here.
And of course, I love the Destiel colors—blue and green really pop here, especially in combination with the out-of-focus effect that gives the setting a dreamy quality of that perfect secret place. Plus, it’s like we’re seeing the world from their perspective, with everything else fading away because all that matters is the two of them in that moment.
The fresh-out-of-the-water look is such a fantastic touch as well. You can almost sense the cool droplets on their skin. That, in addition to the lake in the background, adds a refreshing contrast to the heat of the moment (and of the day).
I genuinely can’t stop smiling every time I look at this. You’ve chosen a nice scene to illustrate, and you’ve brought it to life in a way that’s just so full of emotion and detail. Thank you so much for this incredible gift—I’m absolutely in love with it! 😍
(I warned you about the possibility of surprise art so yeah unable to say I didn't warn you)
Tumblr media
had a lot of trouble with posing these bozos so it might look sketchy and therefore like it was done in an hour but yeah I did actually try with this. so here's Dean and Cas 'playing' like in the fic (I'm imagining it being before Cas' flat 'I surrender' and actually nearly put Dean's dialogue in the image but it took up a lot of space and this looks more intimate and stuff)
for the background I whipped out 'pen (soft)' again to make it less in focus but still there. they're on that island place together rolling in the grass and yes it does look suspiciously destiel colored ty for noticing. @trinitylinncaanen helped out a ton with how to actually make it look like they just came out of the lake so hooray for Dean and Cas being soaked 🎉
the fic this is made for is called "Outcast" by @destielshipper4cas
(fic is locked for people who aren't signed into AO3)

hi this is an ask for a good fic recommendation. I just read a Destiel fic based on beauty and the beast and I was wondering if you had any other recommendations for a Disney hybrid story? Thanks :)
hiya anon!! this is a great idea for a rec list, but unfortunately I only know two! Hopefully someone else can help us out by reccing some amazing Disney AUs :D
Once Upon A Time in a Disney Store by noxsoulmate (23k)
When Castiel Novak gets sick and loses his voice for a few days, he comes up with a clever trick to explain his lost voice to the kids in the Disney Store he works at. One little Mary Winchester, however, takes his note too serious and promptly starts a quest for his prince. Will her charming uncle be able to break the curse and be his one true love?
(This whole series is so cute!! And the second one is Christmas-themed, just in time for the holidays!)
Happily Ever After by Castielslostwings (31k)
Police Officer Dean Winchester’s younger brother Sam and his best friend Charlie Bradbury have had enough of watching him pine over his best friend, roommate, and partner on the force, Castiel. Especially when it’s so obvious to everyone but the two of them that the feeling is mutual. Subtle hints and encouragement just aren’t cutting it anymore. Now, it’s time to get drastic. It’s time… for Disney.
And I think this might be the fic anon is referring to, if anyone is interested! (If it isn't, you just get a bonus rec lmao)
Beauty and the Beast by seraph_castiel (49k)
Castiel hated the rules of the Royals.
"Do this, do that." It was like they were better than the people who lived in the township. He always loved humanity, and he never knew what would happen when he unleashed it. His family has more to it than he thought, and when he met a firey Omega to keep him in line, the Alpha was absolutely in love. Even though the Omega was a peasant. Whats wrong with being human? Aren't they all?
If anyone knows any others, please let us know and I'll make sure to give them a read!! And thank you for the ask, sorry I couldn't be more helpful :D

It’s spec time: Love always wins
(Okay, I promised it, I’m doing it, there’s no stopping me now.)
For the last three days I’ve been all over the place emotionally, clinging to every post saying Cas is not dead dead, saying his story is not done, but then someone wrote the “but” post and, there I go again, down the bottomless pit of angst.
I’ve been a Schrödinger believer for so long with this show, one can get used to it.
I know I’m not the only one feeling this way, regarding whether Cas is coming back or not. We won’t know till we know ©
Ep 19 speculations here
But let's speculate!
Apparently, there's nothing better for me to do way past midnight on Saturday and on Sunday morning (when I’m writing this).
What makes us think 15*18 might indeed be the end of Castiel’s story:
Everything the crew and Misha told us, officially, is pressing toward Cas dying permanently in this scene. “Proud ending”, indeed.
Castiel’s story has the perfect symmetry this way, with the handprint, the “Hello, Dean” - “Goodbye, Dean”, and the whole “Dean Winchester is saved” theme.
He is smiling, while Empty takes him, he’s content with his sacrifice.
Something about Castiel’s monologue didn’t sit right with me for some time. The whole point of happiness being not in having, but in being and saying, gave me an idea of it being the way writers say we can’t have Destiel, but we should be happy to know it’s real and to hear it said aloud after all those years.
Supernatural had to be the story of two brothers and their journey, and Winchesters driving in the sunset is the most probable endgame we are gonna get.
Even though all those points seem valid, we can’t trust any of it.
Let me fix it for you:
It wouldn't be the first time the crew lied about someone being on set.
The handprint was not scripted. I repeat, the handprint was not scripted.
Castiel’s monologue could be just about loving Dean, and it’s just my poor wounded heart looking too deep into it and seeing my angstloving reflection on the bottom of the well.
And Supernatural might indeed be about family, but, as we know, family doesn’t end with blood, and doesn’t start with it either. Cas is family, after all.
I’m glad be are clear on this one.
What tells us Cas is coming back and we are getting Destiel endgame:
(Brace yourself, it’s gonna be wordy)
1. The most obvious, without rewriting his memory or going OOC, there’s no happy ending for Dean (not the crappy bittersweet substitute) without Cas.
Even without the love confession in place, we’ve seen what Cas’ death did to him before, it shuttered him to pieces. Imagine the damage it's gonna cause now!
“I love you, I always did, bye bye now, have a long and happy life knowing my feelings for you have killed me dead.” Really? No win can make up for it.
2. My fave point, aka the natural dynamics of storytelling. The big loss predicts the big win. The deeper the wound, the brighter the prize. Following the roller coaster this season has been, we should be up for a pretty high damn up pretty soon.
So, there’s The Big Loss (losing Eileen, all of their friends, all the people on Earth and Cas).
Next - The Big Win (defeating God, getting their free will back, getting humanity back).
Then, we should have The Big Regret and Reflect moment (Sam and Dean talking a lot at this point, realization of things which are important, what they want with Chuck gone).
And at the end, there’s The Ultimate Happy ending waiting for us (see point 1 again in case you are not sure what that means).
3. You know what, forget it, this one is my favorite. The parallels. Throughout this season we’ve been spoon-fed with context (Geez, it feels nice to finally know we are not crazy, we are not seeing things, we got it all right!) and writers chose to do so via parallels, via reflections, subtle hints.
It would be some lazy storytelling to shove everything to our faces, so, instead, we’ve got: Charlie and Stevie, Sam and Eileen, the world and humanity, Dean and Cas.
Everyone separated. Forever? No, not really. And I don’t buy everyone getting their loved ones back, except Dean. C’mon.
4. Unresolved love confession. Yes, Cas might have died with a smile, meaning it’s enough for him to speak his truth and be gone. But Dean? Him sobbing in the dungeon, ignoring Sam’s calls (he literally never chose anything above Sam before), the “Don’t do this, Cas” part - it’s the lowest he’s ever been.
To sum up, Dean didn’t get his closure. He might have needed five to six business days to process, but he still has his truth he has to find out and then give a voice to.
And yeah, I know, he could confess via prayer or something, but we all know that’s something needed to be said face to face.  (Btw, he already confessed to Cas in purgatory via prayer once, you can try and prove me wrong, but good luck with that, sunshine.)
5. The perfect symmetry. If I were in SPN writers room, I would literally cry my eyes out of joy at the symbolism this ending gives. I would literally fight everyone against it.
The broken man not deserving to be saved is dragged from Hell by the most loyal and righteous angel Heaven ever seen.
VS
The fallen angel not deserving to be loved is dragged from Empty by the most loving and caring man the sun shone on.
I mean, c’mon, people. Poetry.
(We are nearing a very important thing here, fasten your seatbelts, please.)
6. The message the show wants to give the world has changed. From “it’s all about the journey, about saving people, killing things, no one ever gets what they deserve”, the philosophy has changed drastically toward the “good things do happen, you deserve to be saved, to be loved”.
Come and see what lane we are walking right now: allowing yourself to love again, to experience things again / losing the love of your life a moment later / fighting for your love / winning your love back.
I believe the final message is: love always wins.
Love is not one’s weakness, love is power, love is strength, it’s a perfect fuel.
Humans declare war in the name of love, kill and get killed in the name of love, but, most importantly, humans live and win those wars in the name of love, too.
7. Go big or go home is on the table, and no one goes home this time.
Supernatural was a bunch of broken glass for soooo long, I think this time writers are gonna give us something good, for a change. Not bittersweet good, but actually cotton-candy-almost-diabetes-sweet good.
Why?
Because *loud and clear* we deserve having good things happening to us!
Also, it’s The End, the creators have nothing to lose, but, on the other hand, the ultimate happy ending would allow them to leave an enormous mark on the world and Supernatural to be known as the only show that actually could.
To sum up:
Dean can’t be happy with Cas gone and, following the logic of prebuilt parallels, he won’t have to - everyone gets their loved ones back at the end, because love always wins.
Cas might be at peace with speaking his truth, saving Dean and being gone, but it is not fair, Dean also deserves a chance to be heard.
Few seasons ago I would laugh in my own face for these arguments, but the philosophy of the show has been transformed. During the last few years we were being prepared for this moment, slowly, gently being led toward this moment.
Supernatural has to give us the Destiel endgame to prove their point.

If you’re Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, or Jared Padalecki.
STOP.
Read this post.
Dear J2M,
This is an open letter for you three written by a couple of unhappy passionate fans.
We write this to you because we know at least one of you has a secret Stan account and creeps on the destiel hashtag from time to time. Don’t lie. (Ahem. Misha Collins. Looking at you, Sir.)
With the subtle hints and possibility of a revival, us here at BarrenHeart (Bee and Jay) have some thoughts on what we think a reboot/continuation/revival would look like if it was done well.
Note: we don’t speak for the whole fandom(obviously). And we don’t even speak for all of the Cas/destiel fans. This is from our observation of the fandom after 15x18 and the finale, plus our own opinions.
Here are our demands suggestions for the potential revival.
--Castiel--
First things first. Castiel is brought back.
And by that, we mean he is either shown to be rescued from the empty, Jack rescues him from the empty, or by some other means, that man is not left there to suffer for all of eternity.
Castiel is a lead character.
Not a guest star, not “and Misha Collins.” No. Misha Collins gets to be in every d*mn episode. He is an equal lead alongside Dean and Sam. Which leads into the next point.
Castiel gets his own storyline.
It can be connected to Dean in some way, but he needs his own arc, y’all. Don't care what that is, but he IS his own character. So, some form of personal growth or whatever needs to happen. He is a badass and deserves a good storyline. Also…
Give this M-- F-- (mother father) his wings back!
Yes, he died without ever having his wings return to their full power. Like? We know he was nerfed so he wouldn't overpower Sam and Dean. Prove to us that he can be a fully powered badass and still work alongside Sam and Dean. No need to get rid of that.
Human!Cas does not mean pathetic Cas.
There is a divide on whether Castiel should stay an angel. Personally, we like human Cas. However, human Cas was shafted in the series. If you make him human in any way, shape, or form, he’s gonna still have to be a badass. Don’t whimp him!
He can be a good hunter/pretend FBI agent just like Sam and Dean!
So, make him one! Let him do more cases. On his own. With other people. With Sam. With Dean. He can fight without powers, too.
Give him love!
For the love of freaking Jack, let that man know he is loved by people. Not even mentioning anything romantic, he still needs platonic love y’all. Let Sam say it, let Jack say it. Let anyone in his family tell him that he is loved. Not once in this series did Cas hear that anyone loved him. So, fix it!
New style, anyone?
Cas needs other clothes! Please now. The black trenchcoat we never saw in-show? Boss. Cas in a black leather jacket? Coolness. Hunter plaid? Do it.
Confession Resolution
Speaking of love, come to some conclusion please about him and Dean. Give a resolution somehow, somewhere. We personally don’t really care how it’s done, but there needs to be something said here. You cannot just drop a confession there and just leave like it never happened. So, talk about it.
Adding this, I swear, if this is bros only, you WILL lose Cas fans. So, think about what you’re doing.
--Sam--
Sam is important!
Now, personally we have a soft spot for Sam. His character arc in Season 1-5 was great. Demon blood, powerful Sam was amazing. So, don’t sideline Sam. Seriously. We are gonna say in an unpopular way (as if this post isn’t already unpopular to some), but Sam got sidelined real hard in the last few seasons of the show. Now, was that what Jared wanted? Don’t know. But, Sam needs his own storyline too that isn’t just revolved around Dean. Figure it out.
Witch!Sam
Speaking of which, let this man be powerful. Sam is best when he has powers. Sorry but also not. He has been given all of Rowena’s (who is arguably the best witch around) spell books and decides to not really do much with it? No. He’s becoming a BAMF witch. Full-out, no word spells and shit. End point.
Sam in Charge
He’s not just a baby brother. He’s a grown man. Give him room to grow. Allow him to be a leader. Let him lead a group of hunters, witches, a whole team of people! He’s strong on his own, too. He's a big boy. Prove it.
He should fall in love.
Like, get married and all that. It’s a part of his arc, so keep it there. No blurry wife, my god! Personally it should be Eileen. She’s a badass. They also have a lot in common! Holy hell. They make a good team. So, keep that suggestion in mind.
Let him have the hero’s journey.
We want a good ending that shows growth for this character! He saw himself as a freak with powers, so…maybe he can use his powers now in a way that in empowering instead? Let him have an ending that doesn't just return to the beginning. Let him have gone through all of this changed for the better.
Don't be creepy.
Still keep the brotherly bond with Dean, but don’t make it weird, y’all. Don’t. Please.
Sam as a dad.
He can have a kid. But, Dean Jr? Eh. You might want to reconsider some other (Bobby) possibilities.
--Dean--
Now, with Dean, I wanna make this clear.
DO NOT K word THIS MAN.
This man here has dealt with unbelievable trauma, suicidal thoughts and even almost died by suicide in the show (okay, it was for another reason, but still!) He dies way too many times in this show. It’s not new anymore. Perhaps, when the show was newer, death might have been a bittersweet ending. But, now. It’s tarnished. It happened too much and the message of “carry on” got tainted to mean “there is only peace when you die.” That’s not okay.
Resolve his issues!
He has so much pain and trauma. Let him seek help. Let your audience know that it’s okay to process these emotions. Let him heal. He deserves it.
Dean’s internal struggles
This is piggybacking a little off of point two, but Dean has a lot of things he needs to figure out. We feel like his journey is more internal. While processing his trauma, he needs to learn that it's okay to be himself. This could include things about himself that he feels ashamed of or scared to admit. Things he may have repressed or suppressed over time. No more hiding who he is or brushing it off or making jokes. Be your true self, Dean. It's time.
Dean’s still important, of course
That said, Dean should still be integral to the overall narrative of the plot. Of course he's gonna go head to head with the Big Bad of the season/limited series, but he really should focus on what's inside first before he can take this monster down.
The Bro bond
No more dependent/unhealthy bond with Sam. Of course they are family and brothers, and will always be close. That's perfectly fine. However, its important to note that Dean was Sam’s mom/Dad most of his whole life. And, well, that never came to a resolution. Please let Dean resolve this issue. Sam is grown and older now, and even though Dean will always feel protective of him as his Big brother, Dean shouldn't feel like his life only revolves around taking care of Sam. There is more to Dean and his life.
Dean is complex
Also, Dean is not only about cars, burgers, and pie. It's like some of the writers forgot this. There are so many things/interests of Dean’s that are really cool and add to the complexity of his character. Keep those things.
He needs to resolve his issue with Jack.
He never said sorry to the kid. Not once after telling Sam that Jack wasn't family. He needs to tell Jack he is loved.
Speaking of which, Dean needs to tell Cas he loves him.
Okay. Who knows if you will make destiel reciprocal at this point.
Do we think Dean would have reciprocated based on context clues and what we have seen in the show? Yes.
Do we think this love is romantic? Yes.
Do we think you'll actually fully make it canon in a reboot/continuation? Eh.
Regardless, Dean loves Cas, so make it known.
Other demands considerations.
‘The found family’ needs to not be forgotten.
All the friends that were made along the way need to be included. What happened with Garth was great, actually. Do more of that. And by that, we mean include Jody and Donna. What are the girls doing now? Wayward sisters anyone? Bring Kevin back. Don't leave him to roam the earth all along like that. Either make him human again like Eileen or send him to rest in Heaven.
Where’s Eileen?
Hello??? Where? Tell us she made it back.
Claire
No idea if you can get Kathryn Newton back, but it would be cool at least for one episode. Please. Kaia? Resolve her storyline.
Also, Charlie.
Wtf happened? That was not resolved. We love Felicia Day. Charlie’s friendship with Dean is amazing. She deserves a few episodes.
Crowley!
Seriously. What happened to Mark was super disappointing. You gotta bring him back. His death wasn't great. Bring him back and give him his damn line already!
Jack!
I'm not fully on the Baby!Jack train, but he does deserve a normal life. He's three years old technically. He had no normal life whatsoever. He deserves that. So, give him that.
More Rowena please!
That's it. She's awesome.
Have a wedding.
No, really. Someone's gotta get married. Our pick: Sam and Eileen. Charlie is also a good contender for having a wedding with her partner, too. So there. Weddings are happy. We want a happy ending.
I will reiterate. Team free will lives. That's it.
Okay. Now, moving on to the next part of this. The elephant in the room. The thing a lot of us actually want from this, but frankly, we aren't sure if you'll do it.
Explicit Destiel.
If you've read this far J2M, then you're probably wondering when this was going to be addressed. So, here are the stipulations on destiel.
Go big or go home.
Yep. We said it. Make it explicit, full out, no ambiguity.
Honestly, you might be thinking what you could do to make it explicitly canon? Well, since there were tons of people who still think Cas’ love confession was just a platonic exchange between two bros (like wtf? How?), you're gonna have to spell it out for people.
But, some things that we may perceive as romantic, some people may not.
--Like, holding hands could be considered platonic between two men to some people.
--Cheek kissing could also be considered platonic to some people.
Not to say we need Jensen and Misha doing full on *** scenes to prove anything, but something more than a hand hold. Okay? Okay.
What we’re saying is basically, you're gonna have to kiss. On the lips. Yep.
So...I guess you'll have to figure out how you want to do that.
On when to make it canon:
You can decide if it makes sense to make it canon towards the beginning or towards the end. Honestly, there could be an argument for either. If it's made canon earlier, you could prove there can be a relationship alongside the main storyline. If you wait until the end, you'll leave fans wondering if you'll actually do it. But, the kiss being the major event of the finale could be worth it. Whichever you do, remember there are upsides and downsides to both.
Other other considerations:
Just realize who your fanbase is now. We’ve grown and changed. Like Becky, your fans have gone through a huge change in what they want from the show. Is the fandom all on the same page? Nope. Will they ever be? No.
You will not please everyone. That's a given. But, a lot of fans want to see the show wrap up in a better way than what we got. Destiel fans aside, the finale was not great overall. There are plenty of negative finale reviews that have nothing to do with destiel.
On top of that, society is changing. Slowly. The attitudes in regards to lgbtq media is quite different than before. You have the chance to make history. Really. If you make this canon, that will be a part of your legacy. You'll hit the news. I mean, 15x18 wasn't even the finale and it trended #1 that day.
We suggest that if you do decide to make it canon, it’s meaningful and you take the time to do it right.
So, consider your fans. Consider the part of the fandom that trended your show over the election. Consider the fans that trended a fictional wedding on Valentine's Day. Consider Misha/Cas fans who felt slighted. Consider your LGBTQA + fans. Just, think about what the reboot could achieve. What it could mean to a lot of people.
As always, we just want happiness and peace when we are done.
Thanks for reading Misha J2M.
Sincerely,
Bee 🐝 and Jay 🐦
