Silly request but could you do a review on the Substitute Doll? This is only partially a joke

The substitute doll is probably just meant to be representative of autotomy in Pokemon or something, but I do appreciate that it's well-designed despite that. It looks very vaguely like A Pokemon, all right, but it does a good job of not actually resembling any one specific species (I guess if I had to pick one it would be Bulbasaur, but it lacks the bulb and has different markings). I feel like nowadays GameFreak would just make it resemble Pikachu or something boring like that.

The other thing the substitute doll has going for it is that it's cute as well. If some wild animal threw this thing at me as a distraction I would 100% fall for it no questions asked. Good design even if it's a bit nonsensical in-universe.

ok so the substitute doll is very clearly not based on any one specific pokemon because there's NO pokemon that looks. you know. Like That. and sure it MIGHT be based on some pokemon we just havent seen yet or whatever but i am of the FIRM opinion that the subsitute doll is a pokemon composite. a archetype. just a little creature.

and like sure that's kind of obvious but i think it's to the point where that shape is just. The Pokemon Shape. That's what you would think of when someone just said "pokemon" the same way you might think of a generic creature for the word "animal."

My evidence:

There is a non-insignifigant amount of pokemon that share similar features/structure with the substitute doll. I limited myself here with one per line, and only included pokemon that I thought shared more than two traits with the doll, so there are a LOT of other pokemon that are substitute doll-adjacent that I didn't include.

But, like, very generally, this is the Ideal Pokemon Shape. And it makes sense, when you think about it! A lot of the pokemon with that sort of vibe are from gen 1, including series staples like the pikachu line, the original starters, and mew. It's animal...
