Still mad that the Below Zero devs decided to cut Al-an being defensive and doing hostile posturing when he first encounters Robin...you can't tell me that a raw-ass banger of a line like 'Turn back. Now. Die peacefully' wouldn't have been sick as fuck to hear from an ancient alien consciousness right before he gets directly uploaded into the player's brain and its revealed almost immediately afterwards that hes actually a huge fucking nerd who calmed right the fuck down once he realized that he wasn't in any danger

(yes i know their main writer left and thats why they had to completely rewrite the story but man. MAN it's painful to remember how much stronger the og storyline was sometimes)

Been working on this one for a few days, it isn't often that a want to animate hits me but c'est la vie lol 

The character is Al-An from Subnautica: Below Zero, quite heavily inspired by @geomimetry‘s art of this character! Specifically I saw this post and I felt like this was just begging to be animated. They draw amazing stuff too so definitely check them out (their Portal stuff is stunning too!)

I will say clip studio paint is a way easier program to animate in than those I’ve dabbled in in the past, it made this possible for me lol Really proud of this one though! I think my process has improved greatly since I last tried to animate :D

I spent way too much time this weekend trying to draw AL-AN from Subnautica: Below Zero, and gave up after the fourth attempt because this boy just has too many textures to try to capture them all in a drawing.

If you could create a marauders style fandom for any other franchise, which one would you choose? I should clarify by marauders style I mean a fully fledged super popular subfandom bordering on a whole fandom on its own based around a time period and group of characters there's only scraps of information about in the core media set before the main story. For me, it's the crew of the Mercury II from Subnautica. POTENTIAL SUBNAUTICA AND BELOW 0 SPOILERS AHEAD. They're so interesting and fun to listen to what few logs we have. I can almost picture Yasmine info dumping about nuclear physics to Stephanos while he listens to her and twirls his hair curl. I can envision Elliott's family waiting for him back home, and I can feel the weight as capt. Diana leaves some of her crew behind to try and make a desperate break for the atmosphere. I just wish we had more content for these people from before the crash. And maybe this post was a thinly veiled excuse to talk about my favorite niche characters who died a decade before the game started, but I'm also interested in hearing about everyone else's answer.
