Tara Donovan's Styrofoam Cups

This sculpture is made up of a whole bunch of styrofoam cups. It's pretty cool to see how the cups are all different sizes and shapes, but when you put them all together, they make one big wave-like sculpture. This is a great example of how art can be abstract and still be beautiful.

I started this set back in December with the plan to complete them for @companiongallery annual Last Call show. Well things happen, I wasn’t feeling it and sculpture was calling be back hard. So they sat on the shelf for a bit, then I would do a little work on them and back on to the shelf. I wish I could say I was done, but this is just the second bisque fire. It’s not live it’s memorex. I’m still making the styrofoam cups, oh the time it takes. I decided before sending these things in for a bisque fire I would toss on some yellow, try and save myself a step later. I think I did a pretty good job with @amacobrent intense yellow as a close match to @tacosombrero.official yellow. Now to work up some stencils and underglaze transfers for the next step.
