I was inspire by @agentnatesewell and her regularly gracing us with Suri's style. So, here's a moodboard of Zuri’s style (her more casual one):

#this is as close to an aesthetically pleasing outfit moodboard for her as i could get #i wanted to do both casual and formal but they were clashing too much😭#zuri's casual style does fall under the earthy black girl look for sure #a little twc headcanon for her that i may or may not include in the things i wanna write for her:#she does slowly start wearing less jewellery #she still wears them - specifically her earrings and nose cuff #and her waistbeads aren't going anywhere #but she doesn't stack as many anymore (although she already doesn't wear as much as what you'd expect of the earthy black girl look)#mostly because of the noise #because ub's enhanced hearing probably makes every clack or jingle much louder for them #but also because it can give away her location if she's trying to hide from someone or be stealthy #especially if she's doing so while the threat of harm is coming from a supernatural #another cute headcanon that will probably actually be written into something: she gives some of them to farah #whether she's romancing her or not #oc moodboard #oc: zuri jackson #this has been in the drafts for a while i figured i might as well post it now

preferably with classic or swap, since I'm having trouble getting down how neutral or negative expressions would work with their kind of face

Sorry it's not exactly a tutorial, but just a rough step by step. I generally start with the eyes, then I do the overall face shape. I go fixing it as I draw in the mouth, then do the rest of the head and other details.

As for expressions, it might help if you draw it on something more familiar first. I'm more accustomed to drawing anime style people, so I'll use that as an example. Pay attention to the shape of the eyebrows, the eyes, and the mouth. It'll become easier to translate that into the way you draw these guys!

some dumb blurry screencaps of Lucanis in battle. (plus a wider shot of his armor and hip-waders cunty boots from the party selection screen.)

A few observations: 1) He uses more than one apparently-magical attack, not just the wings.

Photos 6 + 7: The medallions on his belt 'activate', and glow red. He goes on to execute some kind of whirling shadow attack, sending red sparks flying. Photos 8 + 9: Certain moves envelope him in a fuchsia mist + sparkles as he teleports or swipes with his blades. If there is a pink + purple magical cloud on the battlefield, it is 100% Lucanis doing the Bisexual Backflip, finishing a fantastically unneccessary flourish with his blades, or using his teleport ability to move across a distance rather than walk or run (also gay).

2) At some moments, immediately after (maybe right before) executing a move (using a power/magic) his whole head is shrouded in twisting shadows and red sparks. And at least once, he sported what appear to be glowing red 'eyes' inside the shadow cloud:
