I recently got to see Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind in theaters as part of Ghibli Fest and I thought it would be fun to draw Teto the fox-squirrel with various Neopets paint brush colors. These were pretty fun to design. 😁

SKZoo in Studio Ghibli outfits from their movies. I am unfortunately not skilled enough to try a Ghibli-esque illustration style to accompany the keychains; so for now, my basic doodles will have to suffice.

Wolf Chan and Dwaekki Totoro are here to start the bunch. Since half of Wolf Chan's face is white fur, I have NO IDEA on whether to make it seperate from the belly fur or connect it. I have also decided that when Totoro smiles its nice, but when Totoro-Chan does so it is unsettling. Maybe I will go back to the first rough sketch rendition for Totoro-Chan with the seperate neck and body divot. That way it is more Wolf Chan and less Totoro but still recognizable.

Toto-Dwaekki looks great. I just cannot get Toto-Chan to appear remotely normal. Wide and partial eyes also just feel weird. I left the green leaf hat off and the umbrella too. Can't have a tiny stick holding it all together. Maybe I can add it back on a future version.

Bbokari is living his best lives through multiple versions in a little tub simulating the bathhouse scene from 'Spirited Away'. Hopefully he evokes the look of Ōtori-Sama's without the darker connotations from the film. I may need to make the tub a bit less wide and the chicken heads a bit smaller if it is to become a keychain.

PuppyM is rocking the Princess Mononoke outfit with a necklace of wolf teeth (I am sure they are just from an old wolf and just fell out). The ears are perfect for the dangling earrings and shouldn't affect how easy it is to cutout. The extra blood on our savage princess's face might not be necessary.

I have Foxi.NY dressed up in the flight suit of Naussica from 'Naussica of the Wind'; though I may try Ashitaka from Mononoke as well. Below IN, PuppyM is wearing two different suits representing Lupin III. I am leaning toward the magenta jacket and lavender tie over the green coat and yellow tie.

Another option for Bbokari that suits him very well is the outfit with thermos and blue backpack is Ponyo. Jiniret is dressed in the yellow t-shirt and grey shorts of Sosuke her partner in crime in the film.

Han Quokka in the Scarecrow Prince outfits when he is cursed from 'Howls Moving Castle'. Below him are Leebit as Kiki and Han as Tombo from 'Kiki's Delivery Service. Leebit's expression needs some adjustment and Jiji the cat in the bag should be painted on the back side of Lee-Kiki.

An alternative for Leebit is that of Sheeta or Pazu from 'Castle in the Sky'. Thought the Fox Squirrel in the bag could mirror Jiji from Kiki's but maybe Switching Pazu to Foxi.NY would make more sense so the Fox's stick together.

Lastly I have Jiniret dressed as Howl, from 'Howls Moving Castle'. I need to go back and make the coat puffier and the pink diamonds much larger. It has also been suggested that the sunglasses for Dwaekki's 'Porco Rosso' be lowered a bit so his eyes peek out a bit above. Maybe I just need to show all of his eyes and switch him to aviator goggles.

After some very cursory googling I have decided that family video had a copy of the original English dub of Nausicaa of the valley of the wind. (Which was apparently not very good because of how it was edited down and translated, and also called "Warriors of the wind" apparently my dad saw it in theaters when it first came to America with his mom- anyway)

Family video has a copy and Robin sees foreign film with a female protagonist and environmentalist message, and Eddie sees Japanese animated film with a cool fantasy-ish title and they decide to watch it for movie night and they LOVE it. Steve loves the ohmu even though they're scary and the little fox-squirrel (the ewoks were his favorite part of star wars). Robin like I was as a child is a little in love with Nausicaa and also has a crush on the very intense lady in the armor. Eddie wants to make a campaign about it.

Anyway the party gets really into studio Ghibli movies and tries to get copies and/or see theatrical releases of every English sub and dub they can.

I think Eddie's favorite is spirited away. Robin loves princess Mononoke. Steve loves all of them but especially Totoro (because he loves a fuzzy little guy) and whisper of the heart weirdly enough.

Dustin loves Laputa Castle in the Sky because of the big robot guys. Eleven loves Kiki's delivery service. Will has a crush on Howl but also loves Spirited Away. Mike says Spirited Away is his favorite (because will and Eddie like it) but cannot make it through Totoro without crying.

Nancy didn't like the original dub of Nausicaa that much but the full version is her favorite (second to princess Mononoke). Argyle also likes Nausicaa but mainly because of the plants/forest, and Totoro because he wants nothing more than to hug a Totoro. Jonathan likes Totoro because of the Mae and Satsuki's relationship.

Hopper likes porco Rosso even though he says they're all weird. Joyce loves kiki even though shes appalled that Kiki's parents let her just. Leave that young. She also loves Ponyo when it comes out.

Murray only likes the cat returns.

Please tell me what you think their favorite ghibli movies are/if you agree.

Nope, I'd probably want something small and fluffy that can stay indoors mostly.

Extremely basic answer, but most small-to-medium sized feline/canine/vulpine-based pokémon I would like. Eevee is my favorite.

I also love the Studio Ghibli fox squirrels.

And Black Hayate from Fullmetal Alchemist.

I'm also veeery tempted to say Pochita from Chainsaw Man, but I know having a pet with a chainsaw face IRL probably wouldn't work out for me. Also not sure if I should count him as an 'animal' in the first place either lmao.

Fox squirrel Teto is arguably the best character in the whole film! Nausicaa of the valley of the wind holds a dear place in my heart as it was the first ghibli film I bought. The start of one of my favorite movie collections.
