This scene was so stunning, it reminded me of Naussica. This movie had scenes echoing of all of Miyazaki's previous films.
As someone who grew up watching Miyazaki's master pieces, The Boy and the Heron was particularly impactful for me.
Growi g up with Miyazaki taught me to be a brave woman, taught me to love the earth, to treasure the small moments of life, to seek adventure. He taught me I can become a hero in a beautiful blue dress with stylish hair. Miyazaki taught me how to live.
In the Boy and the Heron he imparted his most important messege.
It's okay to be imperfect.
Thank you Haya Miyazaki for the perfect worlds you have built for us. I treasure every moment I get to spend in them.
"Take root in the ground, live in harmony with the wind, plant your seeds in the winter, and rejoice with the birds in the coming of spring." ~ Castel in the Sky (1986)

it’s about grief it’s about letting go it’s about hey this is how my mum used to make it!! it’s about making unlikely friends along the way it’s about little old ladies looking after you even when you can’t look after yourself it’s about mothers and motherhood it’s about holding on tight and accepting the help that is given it’s about seeing the fiery state of the world and choosing to live in it anyway it’s about we will meet again someday!!! it’s about cute round little creatures that make you go awww

The boy and the heron fanart. This movie means a lot to me I saw it early thanks to my friend and guys it’s so good. I love it a lot and I think it’s a beautiful message Miyazaki has to artist and young people. He’s saying don’t try to continue legacy or be perfect or the next Miyazaki live life he felt he wasted his. Read a book, spend time with your loved ones, and make friends. Life is more than our passions and careers. Which is what I needed to hear y’all will love it

With The Boy and the Heron, Miyazaki really said: I accept that my legacy is out of my control, that my children may not be my successors, that this tremendous monument I've built with a lifetime of toil, this fiery blessing that simply fell out of the sky, may not continue without me, In fact, it may crumble to dust, I accept it because my children and their children are alive and well, in this imperfect world, and thats enough. Yes, I accept that this is the end, but God damn, I'll go out with a bang.
