Artists Statement:

As a photographer, my journey this semester has been exploration and style discovery. At the beginning of this semester, I found myself navigating the complexities of light and composition, along with the manual controls of my camera. I was eager, yet still trying to discover my style. Through experimentation and practice, I have grown significantly, embracing my failures and successes, and furthering my development. My photos serve as a visual diary, capturing not just images but emotions—moments that resonate with me, and I hope with others as well. This process has allowed me to discover new perspectives and techniques that enhance my work. I am inspired by the natural world around me, and I aim to convey that wonder through my camera lens. The interaction of light, shadow, and color in nature has captivated me, leading me to explore various landscapes and settings. I often find myself in a constant state of observation, where everyday scenes transform into artistic opportunities. 

To me, photography is not just about capturing what is in front of the lens; it is about storytelling. Each image I take invites viewers to delve deeper into the narrative behind the moment. I believe that photography is a powerful medium that provokes thought and feelings, Inviting viewers to experience life from different angles. As I continue to explore this art form, I am dedicated to my ongoing learning and discovery, eager to see where this journey will take me. Moreover, I have begun to explore themes of connection and solitude through my work. Allowing elements of the human experience to intertwine with nature enriches my photography and prompts deeper meaning. I am fascinated by how the presence or absence of people can change the emotional tone of a photograph, creating striking contrasts that resonate with viewers.

Ultimately, photography is a journey, and I am thankful to be on this path of exploration and expression. I look forward to what each new experience will teach me and how it will shape my artistic evolution. My commitment is not only to improve my skills but also to engage and connect with others through the universal language of imagery.

Oxford Bridge of Sighs.

One of my most cherished memories is the day I visited Oxford. Until then, it had only been something I experienced through books, movies, and the university debates I’d followed from afar. Being there in person felt surreal. I recall eating at a local restaurant where the staff mistakenly —or entirely intentionally, who knows— assumed we were students. That moment made me realise that what once felt like a distant, unattainable, almost fictional world was, in fact, real and only a few thousand miles away—and entirely within reach, geographically speaking.
