Bodyswap Au, Galvantula in Emmet's body doesn't want Reader to leave Emmet because of this and is trying to take being him and pull out the romance to get them to stay but spider romance is keeping your mate in your web and humans do make webs so she just keeps trying to tuck Reader in bed, cover them in blankets and lay with them as a substitute.
“Emmet?” you asked when you woke up to him cuddling his face into your stomach. He was clearly trying to doze back off but struggling for whatever reason. You yawned and reached a hand down to lightly stroke his hair. His suddenly ripped open as he turned to stare at you. Your eyes stayed connected in a gaze for a moment before he moved up to stare at you closely, body hovering above you. “Em?” you asked again with a laugh, “Don't feel like talking, right now?”
He pursed his lips for a moment before locking his arms around you. “I love you,” he cooed out suddenly, “You're so sweet and kind and give me the best hugs.” You felt a bit flustered from his onslaught of sweet words this early in the morning but smiled at him. Emmet was a loving man more than anything, which is why you fell in love with him. You pressed a kiss to his forehead and hummed, pulling him down to rest against your chest for a moment.
You finally willed yourself to look over at your phone on the bedside table after a few moments of the embrace. Shocked coursed through your veins as you saw the time. You were going to be late! Softly, you tried to shift Emmet off your body, but he refused to budge, going limp and becoming dead weight against you. There was little blame against him, being cuddled up as you were. Shaking your head, you lightly shook the man. Emmet just grumbled and buried his face into you more. You giggled at his cuteness.
“Emmy, I need to get up, sweetie,” you told him. He just went more heavy, however. His silver eyes grew wide and desperate as a sound like a hurt chitter from one of his Joltiks came from him. Then, he suddenly got off from you. Before there could be anything close to relief, he suddenly tightly wrapped the duvet around you. His eyes were filled with tender affection as you tried to struggle a little against him. “Emmet,” you said his name properly, “I have a lunch reservation with Elesa.”
“Can't you stay with me for a little longer?” he begged desperately, “I wish I had a web…” You felt like laughing at his words, but nothing would come out. You know how lonely Emmet got on his days off, but it was not like he was not joining you. Did he feel a little jealous about having to share your attention with Elesa? That was oddly cute from him, honestly. You managed to squirm your way out from the bed and walk out into the living room, where you were greeted by another sight.
Galvantula laid on the couch, both covered in and surrounded by Joltiks. They all clung to her desperately, whining when she perked her head up to see you. Then, she rushed over to you and crawled up your body with ease, latching on to your waist. Was everyone just feeling needy today? You ran a hand through her staticky fur. Her big eyes stared at you with a familiar glint. It truly was amazing how much pokemon could take after their trainers. Emmet rested over your shoulders and looked over to see Galvantula.
“… I'm sorry, papa,” he suddenly looked like he was in tears as he snatched the spider away from you, “I couldn't keep your mate in your web with you all day!” It was astonishing to watch him fall to his knees as Galvantula tried to wrap her legs around him. Everything felt strange for a moment.
“Em-Emmet?” You called out, and the Galvantula's head turned to you with a chitter. That was impossible, but the previous words of the twin and how odd he had been acting all morning. “Why? How? What?” questions fell from your mouth as you picked up the spider, “Emmet, why are you your Galvantula?” The spider only shook its head, while Emmet's body remained sheepish.
“P-papa and I switched bodies some time last night!” The spider in the twin's body explained as they rushed to sit at your side, “He didn't want to worry you, so I pretended to be him, b-but!” Their head fell. “I'm such a bad mate! I couldn't even keep you in his web!” You tried to comfort the crying spider, but there was little to be done. More over, you definitely needed to cancel your lunch plans and call Ingo. You sighed.
“I'm not upset,” you told her, “Emmet isn't either. You acted very much like him, too.” You pet her head like you would a child you were proud of. She sniffled and buried her face into your stomach again, her favourite spot to hang off you when in her normal body. This was a mess. You gazed at your boyfriend who was now a spider. He only gazed up at you. “Finally living your dream?” you joked to him. He made a happy noise and nodded his head.
Well, your phone call to Ingo about this was certain to be an interesting one.

Period Pains
Tumblr media
*Gif not mine, credits to the owner*
• Pairing: Jay Halstead x Reader.
• Requested: Nope! Just fancied some soft!Jay
• Warnings: pure fluff besties
• Summary: Jay looks after you as you experience a rough period, unlike anything you’ve felt before.
• Words: 2482.
• A/N : When I tell you this is the ugliest thing I’ve ever written lmao. I’m so weak for soft!Jay at the moment and had just came on my period when i started this  a few weeks ago.. I have a few ongoing requests at the moment that I’m working on, promise I’m not ignoring them but I just don’t want to post them until I’m happy with them!
Hope you enjoy!
You notice the bed beside you dip with Jay’s weight as he joins you, fresh from the shower as you feel the heat radiating from him. You attempt to shift and face him, craving the feeling of having your head against his chest with the rhythm of his heartbeat soothing you to sleep. You wince as a cramp hits your stomach, slinging your arm across your stomach as a natural reflex for when the wave of pain arises.
Jay places a hand on the edge of your shoulder, gripping round your skin as he moves your hair to one side to place a delicate kiss to the exposed shoulder blade “Stay facing that way, I’ll be able to rub your stomach” he whispers into the nape of your neck and causing a shiver to run down your spine at the softness of his words.
You happily do as you’re told, still in somewhat of a half consciousness as you doze in and out of sleep with the thought of knowing he was there beside you helping the pain drift away.
“Life your hips for me baby” he softly demands, encouraging you to lift your side for just a few seconds to allow him to slip his arm under you to rest a hand on your stomach “You’re burning up” he tuts, removing the hot water bottle you had pressed against you and placing it on the the other side of the bed “Don’t want you getting too warm, you’ll make yourself ill”.
His firm tone made your heart flutter, he always had your best interests at heart and made the smallest of actions seem natural to him. You’d happily let yourself curl up under a blanket with a hot water bottle until you were burning hot but it would always leave you feeling faint and you’d end up cooling off in a cold bath or shower which really defeated the object..
You laid in a comfortable silence with Jay, cursing under your breath as another wave of pain hit "Why am I a girl” you mocked, digging your head further into your pillow as some form of distraction. Jay would take it in his stride, dropping a kiss to your back and chuckling as you swear under your breath to take your mind off the intense cramps.
The motion of Jay rubbing his hand softly over your stomach didn’t stop, you expected it to after a while but it never did. He was constantly tracing shapes across your skin, running his fingernails back and forth under your shirt and laughing as you occasionally flinched if it tickled. Whether it was a placebo affect or not, the cramps would ease under his touch and helped you get a brief moment of sleep.
You awoke just under an hour later to an empty bed, turning over to see the covers thrown back and Jay’s side of the bed vacant made your heart sink. He was the one helping you through this and even though the painkillers had kicked in, you still missed him just being beside you.
You would often be the first one up in the mornings, heading to the gym before work or just wanting to be awake to make him a morning coffee meant you weren’t used to being in bed alone. He was always there with you, even when you teased him for how long the pair of you would spend in bed on your days off, you loved it and wouldn’t want it any other way.
In replacement of Jay’s hand, you must’ve reached for the hot water bottle in your sleep and that was a mistake. You were now sweating, the clothes clinging to your skin as it glistens with sweat, feeling clamy and gross wasn’t what you needed right now.
Trudging over to the bathroom and catching a glimpse of yourself in the mirror was an instant regret, you were hunched to try and relieve the cramps, hair disheveled and your body was covered in red blotches from the hot water bottle. If you didn’t feel horrendous before, you did now.
You always worried in your relationship that you weren’t good enough for Jay, he woke up and looked perfect, would finish an intense workout and look like a sports model or even concentrating on some paperwork he would look flawless and here you were looking the complete opposite.
You let out a deep sigh, running your fingers through your hair in some attempt to regain a sense of decency but there was no point. Your feelings were being intensified from your period and leaving you feeling worse than ever, wanting to curl up in bed and cry was seeming most appealing but before you can enjoy a good ole pity cry you hear the keys turning in the lock.
Quickly wiping the tears from your face and using Jay’s tshirt that you were currently wearing to try and remove the stains from your cheek was useless, you panicked. Jay seemed to have unnatural ability to tell when you’re not feeling yourself, and this is no exception. Just from taking one look at you he’d be able to tell you were upset and you didn’t want that to be the case, you’d already had a pity day and the last thing he needed was to see you were feeling worse.
You chugged some water that he had left on the side and took another glance at yourself in the mirror, the red blotches had made their way to your neck so were now much more visible and your normal cheery smile was no where to be seen.
“Baby?” you hear Jay call out, rustling around with some bags in the kitchen before making his way over to the room you shared. You were sat on the edge of the bed with your arms folded across your stomach, leant forward in pain as you rested your head on your knees.
His heart pulled at the sight, you were in pain and there was nothing he could do about it. He prided himself on always doing whatever he could to help you in any given situation and not being able to take away the hurt was killing him. He’d helped you through many periods in the past but this was the worst one by far, you’d be able to take some paracetamol and carry on but this was defeating you.
You barely had a chance to respond before you heard the footsteps getting louder as he made his way towards you, letting out a deep sigh as he sees you scrunched over in pain. The noise of bags rustling comes to a stop as he crouches down in front of you, resting his hand on the back of your neck and the other on your knee to hold himself steady as he balances.
“What happened baby?” his smooth voice was music to your ears, he didn’t even have to do anything and he was already soothing you more than you ever could. You sniffed before bringing your attention onto him, watching as his eyes soften when he see’s the redness in your cheeks and the hurt in your gaze.
“Nothing” you lie through your teeth, already knowing he won’t fall for it but thinking it was worth a shot. Instead of giving you the normal ‘are you forgetting how well I know you?’ speech, he simply tilted his head to the side and lifted his hand to rest on the side of your face with a doting look “We’ll talk about it later”.
You were grateful for how well he knew you, knowing not to push you and that you weren’t in the mood to be interviewed like a suspect. Normally you loved it, thinking it was cute how he always craved to prove how well he knew you and could tell you were off just by a simple look but in doing this he knew best to leave it until you were ready.
“Did you have to go back to work?” you question, still absentmindidly leaning into Jay’s touch as he gently moves his thumb back and forth to caress your cheekbone. A simple shake of his head made you smile, you were secretly hoping you’d have him to yourself so when you awoke to the empty bed you just assumed he’d been called in.
You couldn’t hide the frown that formed as he removed his hand and stood in front of you, reaching for something on the bed as you stayed hunched over below him. “I got your favourite ice cream” he comments, holding the tub out to you with a grin spreading on his face as your eyes light up “I thought they stopped selling it?” you questioned, already peeling off the plastic from the lid.
“They did in our local, I asked around and drove to the only place they said still sells it” the pride in his voice was unlike anything you’d heard before as he carried on rummaging around the bag before pulling out 3 more tubs “Didn’t know how many you wanted so I stocked up” he chuckled, placing the tubs back into the bag and watching as you nibble round the edge of the container, too impatient to wait for a spoon.
“You don’t want these then?” you looked round to see him holding a family size bag of crisps, a handful of candy bars and even a box of your favourite instant hot chocolate that you used to have as a child. “How did you know” you probe, reaching for the box and examining the text.
Struggling to remember the last time you saw the packaging in a shop, let alone holding it in your hands. The box feeling so much smaller than it used to from when you were young, bounding to the cashier with 5 or 6 boxes to buy with your pocket money.
“On our first date we passed a shop that sold them and I’ll never forget the look on your face. You told me how your mum would always make you one if you were having a bad day and they’d always make you feel better” he smiled and could feel the tears brimming in your eyes.
You and Jay had been together nearly 8 months and he still remembered the tinist detail from your first date, something you had even forgotten about. A little remark you made as you passed the shop on the way back to the car park, not thinking much of it as who would remember about a box of instant hot chocolate that probably didn’t even taste good? Jay did.
“Get into bed and I’ll get some bowls for these” he collects the items and puts them back into the bag, his tone still gentle despite the excitement you knew he had inside from presenting you with everything you needed without being asked.
You shook your head, standing to wrap your arms around his torso. Nestling your head into his chest as you feel it vibrate from a silent laugh “I told you to get into bed baby” you felt the shivers run down your spine as he rested his hand on the back of your head, allowing his hand to roam up and down your back in a soft motion.
“What did I do to deserve you” you mumble into his chest, feeling him rest his head on top of yours as his hand settled on your lower back to push you further into him “So I did good?” you could practically hear the smirk on his lips, pulling back to examine the glowing grin peering back at you as his eyes glistened.
You reached to place a light kiss to his lips, a soft kiss that told him everything he needed to know “Are you gonna make me tell you to get into bed again?” he joked, tapping your back to retract yourself from him. Begrugingly you did so, already feeling the slight cold from the lack of contact you now craved from him.
Picking the bags up from the bed to pull back the blanket, you felt the weight of something still in the bottom. You opened the carriers to see what must’ve been atleast 5 boxes of different sanitary products rolling around in the bags “What’s this?” you asked, confused as to why he went out of his way to buy you the snacks but you never would’ve expected him to know what products to buy you, or atleast try and guess as you always joked about how little men knew about the whole thing.
“I didn’t know if you needed any” his voice was timid, reaching to rub the back of his neck with his hand which was a sign of nervousness you’d picked up on over the past few months . “Jay, how much do you think I bleed?” you were grateful to see the corners of his lips lift in a smile “Well, I realised I’ve never bought you any so I wanted to get a few so I had more of a chance of getting the right ones” he admitted, your hands falling to your sides as you allowed the bag to drop to the floor.
Your feet were bounding over to him before you could even think, all you wanted to do was throw your arms around him as you had no words for everything he had done. “I can’t believe how much I love you” your voice slightly cracked as you felt the lump rise to your throat, as much as Jay loved to care for you, you never would've expected this.
“I’m sorry I can’t take the pain away” you felt him plant a kiss to the top of your head, another one of his small guestures that made you week at the knees without him even knowing. “You’ve helped more than you’ll ever know” you smiled into him, cringing at your cheesy confession but knowing he loves to hear these things from you, adding to his ego of how well he looks after you.
You both stood in a comfortable silence, basking in each other presence with the simplicity of the background noises coming from the streets below. From someone looking on, the way you were standing probably didn’t look very comfortable. The way you were entangled together, your arms hanging from his neck as his moved around your body to press his fingertips in the various parts he knew you were probably feeling pain. When Jay finally breaks the silence, he mutters the words that at the moment sounded better than ‘i love you’ when they fell from his lips “Do you want some ice cream, baby?”

Masterlist

Tumblr media
The fall breeze blew gently, tossing some fallen leaves around some worn shoes. The man who wore said shoes brushed away the strands of hair that had fallen into his face. He stared out into the woods, eyes following a gorgeous path until it disappeared.
"Hope you don't plan on goin' out there, " An older resident said. They were at the edge of a small cabin town. Some houses we're newer than others but that didn't seem to bother anyone. The houses were decently spaced and it was pretty active for being where most elders come to retire.
The man shrugged at the other's comment and adjusted the large hiking bag on his shoulders. "You shouldn't. Most don't make it back." The other male rolled his eyes and looked back to the elder. "I'm well aware of what lurks out there." He turned away from the other and set out on the path.
The path almost instantly secluded anyone who walked it from the chaotic world around it. He examined the terrain and all it had to offer, collecting some things along the way. His side bag was full of odd rocks and a book that had some pressed foliage, now had ones he hadn't collected before.
The walk was peaceful. Birds chirping as the wind rustled the leaves. The path was mostly covered but the leaves caused rays of light to shine through, giving him inspiration. He eventually found a spot to rest and decided to paint the path he was walking. Once his bag was set down, he pulled out a roll of canvas and laid it as flat as he could.
There were some paints and brushes in a holder in the middle of the roll and he smiled softly as he picked them up. He opened the bag and pulled out what he thought he needed as well as a small jar that held water to clean the brushes.
Close to 30 minutes had passed when he got a slight chill down his spine. He paused his painting and looked around. His eyes only saw the woods so he somewhat hesitantly went back to painting. After another 40-ish minutes passed, he finished his first of few paintings.
Luckily, the breeze dried his paints quicker than he had anticipated. He very carefully added a few layers of a sealant he had and let it dry. The same chill from earlier came around again but it was a bit more intense. He looked around as he finished cleaning and putting things away, noticing something in the distance.
Whatever he was looking at disappeared and he sighed as the now dry canvas was gently rolled and placed back onto the bag. He stood up, stretched, and continued his mostly peaceful walk, forgetting what he had seen earlier.
Some hours had passed, his periodic breaks allowing him to gain inspiration for future paintings. It was just after noon when he decided to make his own path. He pulled out a book and wrote directions so he could find his way back. In the process of creating his own path, he stumbled upon one of the most stunning places he'd ever seen.
It was a small, oasis-like area that had a magical feel to it. He stopped what he was doing and found the perfect spot to paint the scene in front of him.
While he painted, some birds had visited him and even a small snake had managed to befriend him and his paints. The snake had coiled gently around his wrist while he worked which made him smile.
The man had sat and painted the space for another 2 hours, finishing at around 2 o'clock. His (e/c) eyes looked up to the sky and he sighed, sealing his now finished work before packing everything away.
The snake was still on his wrist, not even bothering to leave so he just dealt with it. He continued on his own path for another hour. It was still fairly bright when he found himself at the entrance of a cave.
The small snake uncoiled itself and slid into a pocket on his cloak. The cave went deeper but he was cool with not going into it since he was going to leave soon anyway.
He stayed at the entrance and found a nice area to sit and relax, maybe get another painting done of what the cave looked like. It was gorgeous after all, nature framed the entrance perfectly, leaving some vines to hang down, moss covers rocks and small fungi scattered every so often.
He decided on just relaxing as he set his stuff down and leaned against a wall.
Soon enough, he had dozed off into his dreamland.
------
I ssswear I'll kill that woman...
Ssshe won't leave me alone...
The large, gorgeous albino Naga slithered through the leaves, carefully making his way to his home. He had noticed some newer prints, clearly from something with two legs, but he didn't pay too much mind to them.
He reached the cave and sighed as he entered. Bright blue eyes scanned the area and his heart sank to his stomach when he saw a (tall/short/avg) man with (h/l) (h/c) hair leaning against the wall.
Pleassse dear godsss tell me he iss alive...
He quickly made his way to the motionless body, not noticing said body's items not too far away.
If ssshe killed another human to try to pleasse me... I ssswear...
As he was lost in thought, the other stirred thanks to his intense staring and slightly heavy breathing. The human yawned and stretched his back slightly as he looked up to the Naga with a slightly annoyed expression.
"Is there something you need?"
The Naga jumped slightly and stared down at him with shock but also joy, happy he wasn't dead.
"I apologize... I wasss afraid you had passsed..."
The Naga paused for a moment while the other rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.
"Wait... You aren't... Afraid of me?"
The (h/c) shook his head and looked up to him again. "If you don't mind, I would like to take my leave." He said placing his hands on the ground in preparation to stand. The Naga stood speechless, staring at the smaller human sitting in front of him.
"Can you move please?"
With a nod and small apology, the Naga moved away from the male who carefully stood and stretched his limbs.
The white and yellow snake watched as the other took out a small pocket watch, that the small snake from earlier was now holding on to, and checked the time. "When the hell did I get so late..." The man mumbled to himself. The time read 8:11 and judging by the lack of light it was night time. He slipped the watch and snake back onto his pocket.
"Well, I better get going." He said grabbing his bag and putting over his shoulder. The Naga still stood, watching as the male walked to the mouth of the cave.
"W-wait!"
He looked back to see that the other had slithered closer and held a worried look on his face. "P-please don't leave! Y-you can't!"
"Oh yeah, and whys that?"
"I would rather not find sssuch a beautiful man ssslaughtered on my cave-step in the morning..."
Said beautiful man turned to look at him, slightly shocked at the statement.
"Pleassse just ssstay with me till the morning and I'll essscort you back to the village..." He looked frantic and genuinely seemed like he cared.
With a sigh, the other looked to the pleading blue eyes and said, "I don't bunk with strangers. I'll be fine." He turned and walked out of the cave, leaving the Naga shocked and frozen.
"Wait! I'm ssserious! Pleassse!" He followed after the human and froze once again when he saw him pinned by the she-devil herself. His bag had been tossed to the side, most of the contents falling out. She had him wrapped in her tail and smiled as he struggled to get free.
His shy demeanor had dissipated rather quickly. The small snake had gotten out of the other's pocket and hid in the nearly empty bag.
He suddenly lunged towards the woman he hated so much. She clearly hadn't noticed him before then and threw the human off to the side, his body slamming into a tree. The two of them fought as the one tossed aside slowly passed out, struggling to stay awake.
------
Soft hands gently rubbed his back as he awoke again. His (e/c) eyes looked around the best the could but they didn't see much other than a wall. His whole body was sore but those hands were working wonders. The room was warm and whatever he was laying on was extremely comfortable. He closed his eyes and let out a pleased groan.
The hands froze and pulled away quickly, making him turn his head the other way. A set of bright blue eyes were staring with surprise that the male was awake. "H-hello there..." The human smirked and slowly blinked, "Hey sexy, why'd ya stop?"
The blonde blushed and looked away. "I dessspissse that remedy ssso much..." He mumbled as his hands carefully went back to massaging. "Mmm... I'm soooo tired... Will you cuddle with me?"
"No... Just go back to sssleep human..."
"Mm... Oh-kay."
------
A soft warm light lit the room, if you could really call it a room. A rather noisy yawn resonated from a still fairly sore male. He carefully stretched and sat up, almost instantly laying back down.
"Fuuck me..."
His hand fell from what he now knows as a large hammock. Soft locks brushed against his fingers and without thinking he gently combed them, enjoying the soft and cool feeling on his slightly rough hands. The owner of said locks leaned into the hand, clearly not realizing whose hand it was.
The two enjoyed each other for a moment before the blonde realized the situation. He pulled away and sat up, looking at the still sleepy human in his bed. "Are you feeling better? Do you need anything?" He asked leaning in slightly.
"Something to drink, and maybe a name?" The Naga nodded and got a cup of water first. He sat up in the hammock carefully and crossed his legs slightly. Looking around, the room was neat yet cluttered with various items. He spot his stuff and cautiously, yet somewhat reluctantly, left the hammock to inspect them.
He sat on the large plush rug and rummaged through his own things, glad to see that everything he had was still there. Other than his canvas. He panicked slightly and looked around, immediately regretting the sudden movement.
Laying back, he closed his eyes and sighed. Mr. Naga came back and looked at the other on the ground. He hovered over him slightly till he opened his eyes. "Here, it'sss fresh ssspring water."
"Thank you." He said carefully sitting up and drinking what he was given.
"My name is Sssyerca." The other nodded. "(Y/n). Do you happen to know where my canvas is at Sssyerca?" He asked mimicking the way the other said it. Syerca blushed and nodded, moving over to a small table to grab it. (Y/n) stood up carefully from the floor and followed him to said table.
There was a large couch, clearly made for the naga, that (Y/n) sat on. Syerca sat next to him, and (Y/n) leaned on him, closing his eyes as he took in the snakes, surprising, warmth. Said snake blushed and looked down to the (h/c). He gently took the cup from (Y/n)'s hand and set it on the table.
"I hope you don't mind that I may have looked at your paintingsss..." (Y/n) shrugged and looked up to Syerca, one eye pressed against his side. "Are they ok? Physically?"
"Ah, yesss! They're fine. And quite beautiful if I might sssay..." Syerca said with a soft tone. (Y/n) smiled and looked down to the rolled canvas. He stood up and Syerca watched as he stood on the opposite side of the table. "Lie on the couch and get comfortable. Let me grab something real quick." He said walking over to his bag and rummaging around for a moment.
Syerca hesitantly did as the painter asked and made himself comfortable on the couch. (Y/n) found all of the supplies he needed and set them on the floor next to the table before sitting on his knees. "May I make a request?" He asked looking up to Syerca. The Naga nodded as he watched (Y/n) unroll the canvas. "Look cute and don't move till I say you can." Syerca blushed and adjusted slightly so that he was looking at the other.
(Y/n) started to put blobs of color onto the canvas. Syerca watched as the soft yellows and whites turned into his tail, then tans to his chest, and so on till it had gotten to his head, his face still not painted.
It had been close to 2 hours by that point but neither had seemed to notice the time go by due to being entranced by the painting. "Syerca. Could you look at me? Don't look at the painting." (Y/n) said, starting at the other's eyes. He blushed softly and looked into (Y/n)'s (e/c) eyes.
Syerca took this opportunity to examine the human closely. His (e/c) eyes we're soft yet focused, while his (h/style) (h/c) hair moved slightly with his gentle head movements. He blushed and bit his lip slightly as he looked at his lips. They were a soft pink color and we're parted slightly as he worked, the occasional blep happening due to his focus.
Many minutes had passed before (Y/n) looked up and said. "Alright. You can move again." Syerca snapped out of his trance and looked down to the canvas. (Y/n) cleaned up as Syerca turned the canvas to look at properly. His eyes shined as he looked at it closer. "The amount of detail iss amazing..." (Y/n) looked up and smiled. "You can have it if you want it. I'll put it on a frame and sign it if you do." He said with a small laugh.
Syerca looked up as his eyes widened slightly. "Really? That would be lovely..." (Y/n) nodded and said, "I'll have to head back to my home though. If you'd be willing to come with me I could do it today." He went to get his pocket watch to check the time when he heard Syerca get off the couch. (Y/n) though nothing of it but tensed when he was hugged from behind.
He turned his head slightly to look at Syerca who buried his face into the crook of (Y/n)'s neck. "Uh... What are you doing that for?" The other stayed silent for a moment before responding. "I know thisss is extremely sssudden... But... Would you be willing to become my mate?"
"... What would be in it for me?" (Y/n) asked looking to Syerca who pulled away. "Protection from any other Naga, free-range of my territory... It will finally let me rid thisss world of that vile woman that attacked you..." He said mumbling the last part. His eyes looked to (Y/n)'s (e/c) eyes and the other said,
"So you wanna be my boyfriend?"
Syerca was quiet before he broke out in laughter, his eyes closing as he did. "Yesss... I-if that'sss what humansss call... Call matesss." (Y/n) looked up and shrugged. "Ok. I'm single anyway." Syerca smiled and hugged him, gently pressing their foreheads together. "Would it be ok for me to mark you?" He asked quietly, looking into (Y/n)'s eyes.
"I-I don't know what that entails but um... Sure..." (Y/n) gently wrapped his arms around Syerca's bare torso. He gently rubbed the others back. It was smooth but the occasional line like bump came up, telling there was a scar there. Syerca leaned down to (Y/n)'s neck and placed soft kisses under his jaw. (Y/n) gasped and shivered, slightly tightening his grip on the male, not expecting what he did.
Syerca continued to kiss before mumbling, "Sssorry... But thisss might hurt..." (Y/n) was about to speak up but Syerca bit down on his neck, his canines sinking in. (Y/n) gasped and let out a small moan of pain as he hugged him. Syerca pulled away slightly and licked the spot where he bit. It left a tingling sensation behind and (Y/n) felt a bit weak after.
"Are you ok..? The mark will tell that your claimed... My ssscent will remain and only be picked up by other naga..." He gently brushed (Y/n)'s hair back. "I wish you told me that's what you were going to do..." Syerca looked away and sighed, "I didn't think you would allow me if I told you."
(Y/n) looked up to him and moved his hands from the others back to his cheeks. He gently rubbed them with his thumbs. Syerca smiled and (Y/n) smiled too. His thumbs gently rubbed over Syerca's lips, they were thin but still nice. Syerca smiled more and stuck his tongue out, showing it's slit. "I don't know what's in that... Saliva of yours but it made me feel pretty good."
Syerca moved (Y/n)'s hands from his face and interlocked their fingers. "Also what's with you and making me feel good?" He asked, resting his face on Syercas chest. "I apologize... But... Thank you for letting me... M-mark you." (Y/n) pulled away and looked up to the others eyes. "Let's get to know each other before we call it official though." Syerca nodded and rested his forehead against (Y/n)'s.
"I'll take you back to your village a little later. For now, let'sss get to know each other... Like you sssuggested..."

¿Father!submissive!aizawa x daughter!dominant!jealous!reader?
something like, the reader saw his father being with another woman and she gets jealous, because she does not want a mommy, his daddy only needs her,his daughter.
the reader's jealousy causes him to tie his father and ride him until he overstimulates him, reminding him that no other woman will make him feel like his little princess does.
Sure! Thanks for requesting.
Sorry for the late update
INCEST ALERT! DON’T LIKE DON’T READ.
Reader is a teaching assistant at UA.
WARNINGS: NSFW, 18+, Incest, bondage, overstimulation, semi-public sex, cock ring.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*(y/n)’s pov*
Who does she think she is? I glared daggers at her hand, placed on daddy’s shoulder.
“Aizawa-sensei! Please can you discuss what we’re teaching tomorrow with me?” I placed a smile on my face as i asked him. With his approval, i dragged him out of the staff room and back to his classroom.
It was deathly quiet as all the students had already went home. For precaution, i locked the door behind me.
*Third pov*
Aizawa sat on his chair, a raised brow gracing his features,
“So? What did you need, princess?” She didn’t say anything, walking up to him and twisting his tie with her fingers.
“Who was she?” (y/n)’s hands undid his tie, wrapping it around his wrists and then tying it to the pole behind the chair.
“What are you doing?”
“Oh daddy, you don’t need her. She won’t satisfy you like i do.” With a seductive smile, her legs wrapped around his waist, pressing her clothed core against him.
“She was-- Mm...” His words were stifled into a messy kiss, (y/n)’s tongue sliding into his mouth and entwining with his.
She broke from the kiss with a string of saliva attached to their lips,
“I don’t want to hear her mentioned from your mouth.”  Rubbing her thumb over his bottom lip, she began to grind against the steadily forming tent in his pants.
“Just sit here and I’ll make you forget about her~” Her fingers hurriedly undid his pants, her mouth watering at the sight of his cock. She felt her arousal pool in her panties as her hand gripped his aching cock.
“Ngh...” Aizawa groaned softly, rolling his hips up. She continued to pump his length, her thumb rubbing against the tip and eliciting loud groans from him. Her eyes flicked to his, staring at his pleasure-filled face, a hot red blush spreading over his cheeks.
“Daddy, you’re so cute...” She squeezed his cock gently, Aizawa’s hips thrusting up at the sudden pressure. His hands gripped the tie, tugging at it as white hot spurts of cum covered (y/n)’s hands.
“Mmm~” A ‘pop’ sound echoed in the room as (y/n) sucked the cum off her fingers. Her cunt throbbed with the need to be filled with his cum. Aizawa visibly relaxed when he thought it was over and he could be untied.
“Nuh uh.” She tutted as she slapped his thigh,
“We’re not done yet, daddy~” She dug into her zipped up pocket, taking out a cock ring. (Don’t ask me why she keeps it in her pocket...)
Aizawa’s eyes widened, the colour draining from his face,
“No, princess. A-Anything other than that.” (y/n) pouted,
“But daddy, this is the only way to punish you~” Without hesitation, she placed the cock ring on him, making it vibrate. The extra stimulation made him close his eyes, his whole body tensing. (y/n)’s eyes roamed over the sight before her, his cute flustered expressions making her let out a moan,
“Daddy, you’re too cute~” She kneeled before him, her tongue sticking out to lick against the tip.  The salty taste making her close her eyes, a joyous hum escaping her mouth.
“P-Please, princess...”
“Hmm?” She hummed against him, his cock throbbing with precum sliding down his length.
“I-I want to cum...” A whimper left his throat as he wrapped his legs around her head, forcing his cock down her throat.  She choked, tears springing to her eyes as he continued to thrust into her mouth. The warm, wet feeling paired with the vibrations at the base of his cock was enough to make him cum, but he couldn’t. (y/n) dug into her pocket, flicking the vibrations to the highest setting. Aizawa visibly shuddered, his movements stopping as his eyes rolled to the back of his head.
“G-Gonna cum, princess...!” A sly smirk appeared on her face as she pulled her lips off his cock, a sting of saliva still connecting to her lower lip. All the vibrations abruptly stopped. Aizawa whined,
“P-Princess, please...” Slowly, she dragged the cock ring off, burshing it over the prominent vein running down his cock at the same time. He let out a groan and she hummed before stripping herself of her panties, her fingers running along her slit and gathering up her wetness.
“Daddy, only this pussy can satisfy you, right?~” His pupils widened at the sight before him, his cock red and thribbing. (y/n) hovered over his cock, the tip nudging against her folds, wet with her arousal.  Aizawa struggled to contain the urge to break free of the binding and rail her on the desk.
“Y-Yes, only you can satisfy me, princess. No one else~”
Sinking down onto his cock, she moaned out in bliss, the feeling of being full sending her thoughts into overdrive. Her hands pressed against his chest as she rode him, the chair squeaking at the sudden force. Aizawa groaned out loudly, finally able to feel her walls around him. Her back arched as his cock continuously bumped against her clit everytime she lifted herself off him.
“Ah~ Daddy, your cock is so big~” She whispered into his ear, the squelching sounds drowning out her voice. His hands clenched around the tie tightly as he used the tie as a way to thrust up into her cunt with force. (y/n)’s eyes widened, her mouth opening wide as drool escaped her mouth.
“N-No, d-daddy...!” She was struggling to gain control, but the only thing on Aizawa’s mind was to fuck her until he came.
“Shit... Princess, y-you feel so good... Your tight cunt wrapped around me...” The overwhelming sensation caused him to cum in no time, filling her cunt up with his seed. It overflowed and spilled out from her cunt, making a sticky mess on his thighs.
“More...! I want m-more of your cum, daddy!” Her drool dribbled down her chin as she revelled in being full and warm inside. Her cum leaked down his cock, adding to the sticky mess. (y/n) continued to bounce on his length, fucking herself on his cock.
“P-Princess, i can’t--” Aizawa pleaded, the pleasure being too much for him. She didn’t care, the only thing on her mind was to make him cum over and over again.
--------------------------------------------------
Aizawa huffed a sigh of relief as his arms wrapped around (y/n)’s figure, the tie discarded on the floor.
“Princess, you don’t need to worry. You won’t be getting a mummy anytime soon~” (y/n)’s head rested on his chest as she slowly dozed off, the reassurance enough for her. He adjusted their position, his eyes closing as he realised how much of a mess they made. Their fluids had stained the fabric of the chair they sat on, and the floor needed to be cleaned as well.
“Sigh... You’re so much trouble...” As he said this, a soft smile formed on his face.

Okay so imagine this; Posie is getting tired and she wants uppie, so she goes to the closest person and extends her arms out and ask for uppie. How would everyone react? Also I can imagine Lilia using this opportunity to stea- I mean run off and adopt Posie
Long answer below!
Heartslabyul
Riddle is flustered at first, he's an only child so trying to be the big brother is new for him. Not to mention he's struggling to pick her up with his twig arms. If Posie wants to be carried, he will do so when he's sitting down to make it easier for himself.
Ace and Deuce always find themselves giving her a ride on their shoulders. They don't know why but it just felt like it wasn't enough to carry her in their arms. Deuce though, walks cautiously and slowly because he doesn't wanna lose his balance and send the poor child onto the ground.
Ace on the other hand, he will zoom through crowds and is yelling at the others to make way because he's got a child on his shoulders.
Trey is used to carrying his little siblings so with Posie, it's no problem at all. He'll carry her in one arm while mixing batter in the other. He's a multitasking man, probably give Posie a spoon with leftover batter for taste testing.
Cater is vlogging himself giving Posie a piggyback ride. Though someone has to video him first, last time he did that by himself, he nearly toppled over.
Savanaclaw
Leona... no, just no. Posie may be quieter than Cheka but he's not a babysitter.
Ruggie though, he would do this thing were he puts Posie on a large piece of cloth and drags it all over a smooth floor. He thinks it's much more fun this way than just riding on people's backs.
Jack would definitely jog with Posie on his shoulders with no problem. Heck, maybe even have her sit on his back while he does push ups. His siblings do that to him all the time so this was nothing at all. Imagine the Pokémon join Posie though, it's a cute image.
Octavinelle
Azul... well his human arms are noodle weak. If he was on his octopus form then it'd be a merry-go-round not just for Posie but with the Pokémon too. But he would do it in private because he has an image to maintain.
Floyd causes heart attacks by running all over the halls so fast that he bulldozes his way through the halls. Seven have mercy on poor Posie and Mr. Sweets.
Jade of course, carries her on his arms. He's much calmer than Floyd as he points to her the different mushrooms he was growing.
Scarabia
Kalim doesn't carry her... they're both on a magic carpet riding through the clouds.
Jamil carries Posie in his arms but it's more of a cradle kind of carry because he needs to make sure she doesn't fall off and get injured.
Pomefiore
I would like to think that Vil has a soft spot for children, he has her sit on his lap instead and she gets her hair fixed with nice ribbons and pretty hairclips. Then Vil would carry her so delicately yet secure, the students thought they were like siblings at one point.
Rook would carry her to a field of flowers and through a nice walk in the woods. He'd point out an animal or two for her, telling her all about what he knows.
Epel may look weak but he's probably helped carry hay bales in the farm. He gives Posie a shoulder back ride and would try to look tough. Pretending to be a steed being riden on by a warrior who is Posie.
Ignihyde
Idia... i can't see him carrying her but she will sit on his lap as he plays games. She'll probably doze off an hour later and Idia doesn't know what to do, it's like the situation when a cat falls asleep on you but with a baby.
Ortho becomes a jet ride for Posie... not literally but he zooms around the halls going "whoosh".
Diasomnia
Malleus is like that situation with Maleficent and little Aurora except Malleus gladly gives her a shoulder ride. Posie just grabs on his horns to keep her from falling but Malleus doesn't mind it a bit. Anything for the little child of man.
Lilia can only carry her if there was a supervisor to make sure he doesn't whip out the adoption papers again. He's acting like a child when the others tell him that Posie has to go back to the main building and he just whine like, "Nooooo! Don't wanna"
Silver doesn't carry her but she does fall asleep on him. Its very cute, all the animals all around the two, sleeping under a tree ina perfectly good day.
Sebek is kinda stiff when it comes to handling kids. He doesn't know if he was even carrying her properly, it ends up in an awkward hold

Hi. Your writing is so juicy and delicious. Thank you for your efforts.
How about yandere older brother Bucky, who is going to join the army? You walk him to the train and ask him to promise you to come back. And Winter Soldier is back. You're sleeping, in your old house, in your room, in his old shirt. Winter Soldier has orders to destroy you. And even the bracelet, for the purchase of which he worked all summer, to give you a beautiful golden thing, hanging on your arm, didn't stop him.
Thank you bby!!
Here you go I hope you enjoy! I hope this is what you wanted !
My Mission
Tumblr media
Today was the day that you wished would never come. Bucky had to go to the army and it was something you feared with all your heart. He always made sure you were okay when both your parents were gone. He protected you as if he was your personal body guard and it was so comforting to know that you would always have him there to rely on. Your friends sometimes mentioned that it was not healthy how much you relied on him and that you should try to do things on your own, instead of having Bucky do everything for you.
You did not want to listen however their words got to you, so one day you asked your dearest brother if you were too much or if he disliked how much you relied on him. Bucky stared at you with dark eyes, his fists clenching. “Oh my sweet y/n....who told you these awful things?” You sighed, “My friends...they think it’s not heal-“ you were interrupted by Buckys finger that he placed on your soft lips. “They don’t know anything about me or you. They might be your friends but they don’t know what’s best for you silly, Cant you see they are just jealous. They wish they could have someone to look after them in every aspect. You are mine..” he stopped midway to push a strand of hair behind your ear as his hand also followed down to caress your cheek. “To protect, love, take care of, and most importantly to have you rely on me. Because that’s what big brothers do” He pulled you in for a soft wet kiss on your cheek. After that your friends slowly started to diminish, due to the new point of view Bucky gave you. All you needed was Bucky and that was enough for you.
Your mind started to trail off. All those times that Bucky made you feel secure, loved, taken care of in hopes that his depart to the army would not hurt as much. But tears threaten to fall as you got closer to the train station. Bucky noticed how quiet you were and nudged you. “Darling what’s wrong? You’re never this quiet” You pulled yourself together and strongly said “Nothing at all Buck....I am just a little sad you’ll be leaving me” He stopped you and pulled you in for a nice, big, warm hug. “I’m so sorry that I have to go but this will be so amazing for us! That’s literally the only reason I’m joining the army so that we can live in a better condition. Trust me if I didn’t have to leave you, I 100% would never leave”
His soft words made you smile. He smelled so good and he was so warm and strong. You were definitely going to miss your big brother. “Come y/n, I cant be late it’ll just be a couple more minutes till we reach the train” As you two arrived to the train, they mentioned in the intercom that it was time to board. ~Fuck already?~ you thought to yourself.
“God I hate this, but it’s time for me to go Y/n” he said slowly, tears forming in his beautiful eyes. You stared at him, taking in all his features “You need to promise me that you will come back Bucky...please I need you to come home to me...promise me” you started to cry now and that pushed him to cry as well. “Oh my darling, I will do whatever it takes to come back to you, I can’t leave you all alone in this world. I give you my word” he said planting a kiss on your forehead, a tear of his falling on it as well.
You handed him his bag and you took his face in your hand, taking your last long deep look at your big brother. Buckys eyes now drowned in tears staring and examining your face as well. “I won’t say goodbye, because this will not be the last time that I will see you. Instead lets say “until then”, what do you think?”
You smiled as tears were rolling down your face. “Until then Bucky” he grabbed your hand and planted a kiss on the top of it. “Until then my Y/n”. He sadly let go and got onto the train, taking a good last look at you before smiling and stepping fully inside.
As he disappeared your heart sank to the bottom of your stomach. Praying that this indeed would not be the last time you would see him. As you wiped your tears away, you turned around and headed back to your home. “Until then..”
The years rolled by and it was something you had gotten used to. You were now a fully independent woman, working a job, having friends, going on the occasional date. You were doing good and thriving. Your brother would keep in touch with you whenever he could and you were always happy to hear from him and his rants about the guys in the army. He mentioned that he was going to go to a lab to check out this cool experiment that they had planned but he couldn’t tell you more than that as it was very classified. “That’s so cool Buck, I’m excited for you and your super secret lab visit. Tell me how it goes if you can! But most importantly tell me you’re safe. It brings me so much comfort knowing you’re safe and sound”
“Of course my Y/n, I will... always”
One night you were in your home going through some of your things that you didn’t need anymore. You saw something glisten in the middle of all the junk you had and you found the bracelet that Bucky had given you for your birthday. You smiled to yourself as you slipped it onto your wrist and you continued with your clean out. Bucky had been gone longer than expected and you felt like something was really wrong but you were trying to remain positive. That night you went to bed with Buckys shirt on, as you were missing him a little too much today. You slipped into bed hoping and praying that your big brother was safe.
Bucky on the other hand was turned into a weapon, he was now the winter soldier with a horrible task to complete. He was ordered to murder you. Hydra knew that as long as you lived, there would be a chance that he would slip back and ruin all the plans they had for him. Bucky got into your home, making his way to your room. For some reason he knew exactly where everything was. He was not sure how but he felt like he had been here before. He opened the door to your room and you, being a light sleeper, quickly got woken up by the sound. You opened your eyes and you noticed a tall broad frame standing by the door. You quickly sat up and tried to adjust your eyes to the darkness. “Please....don’t hurt me. Take whatever you want but please don’t hurt me. My brother will be home soon” you lied. “Y/n?” Bucky whispered. Your eyes widened, tears forming , making it even harder to see. “B-Bucky?? Is that you?” You asked making your way to him. Bucky quickly pinned you against the wall, his metal arm holding your neck steady. “What are you doing Bucky? What’s wrong with you, why are you here? What’s going on?” You managed to say.
Buckys eyes studied you, making sure you fit the description he had recieved. He started to close his hand on your neck, making it harder for you to breathe. “P-please B-Bucky....you’re hurting me....you’re my brother” your words struggling to go past your lips as you started to feel dizzy. “And you are my mission”. Your vision blurred and your hands started to loosen around his in your pathetic attempt to get his hand to free your neck. Soon you started to doze off, your neck falling down towards him. He let you go and you collapsed to the ground. “Mission accomplished “ he said to his earpiece. He walked out leaving your lifeless body on the ground, not even thinking twice about what he had done.

Reflection
The only sound that echoed around your shared bedroom was the sound of Haechan's needy whines and cries of pleasure and skin slapping against skin. There were tears cascading down your boyfriend's face as he sobbed above you, helpless to the way your hips fucked up into him. He was currently sat in your lap with his back to your chest as you both sat in front of a mirror. You held onto the ropes you had used to tie his hands behind his back as leverage as you pounded into him from below.
"I look away from you for five goddamn seconds and you decide it's a good idea to start grinding on whatever dick is closest to you?" You growled at him, referring to what had happened in the club a little over an hour ago. You had left to get a drink for him and came back to see him trying to grind all over Johnny. The tall man could only shrug after locking eyes with you, hands hovering around Donghyuck's waist but not touching him. The little smug look that shone through your boyfriend's eyes only infuriated you further. Haechan let out another cry from above you.
"I-I'm sorry daddy! Ugh- I-I won't do it aga- fuck - again! I'll be n-nothing but an obedient p-princess for you! P-promise I will!" You scoffed at his words.
"You expect me to believe that? You're just thinking with your pathetic little cock, I can never trust anything you say." A needy whimper left him as his thighs began to shake. You landed a harsh slap to his thigh when he leaned his head back on your shoulder. "What did I tell you when we started this?"
"Y-you- fuck- you s-said I was only allowed to c-cum if I'm looking at my p-pathetic little body get p-pounded by d-dady's cock." He cried, struggling to lift his head to look at himself again. You rolled your eyes before stopping your thrusts into him, sliding back on the bed so you could push his body forward so he was on his knees with his face squished into the mattress. He cried out again when you slammed back into him, moving at the brutal pace you had set before. You grabbed a handful of his hair to pull his head up from the mattress.
"Look at you. Only I can fuck your tight little hole so good, right?" Your boyfriend sobbed in pleasure as he locked eyes with himself in the mirror. His eyes were rimmed red with tears that trailed down his cheeks and dripped onto the bed with the drool that spilled from the corner of his mouth. His tongue peeked out past his lips that were swollen from how much he had been biting them in a desperate attempt to keep his moans quiet. He weakly nodded in your grip.
"C'mon baby, use your big boy words." He opened his mouth but the only things that would come out were his whimpers and cries of pleasure. You chuckled at his fucked out state, watching his body writhe in pleasure through the mirror. "Are you sorry princess?" He whimpered loudly, giving the best nod he could from your grip on his hair. You pretended to think for a second before pulling him up so you could growl in his ear. "Alright princess, cum for daddy." A broken moan spilled from his lips as his cum shot from his tip, covering the sheets beneath him in the sticky substance. He clenched around you as he came, making you grunt as you released inside of him.
The both of you sat there for a moment before you pushed Donghyuck's face into the sheets, hovering a little above his release. You didn't even have to say anything before his tongue rolled out of his mouth, licking up the mess he made. You pulled out of him, untying him and leaving a trail of kisses all over his spine before laying him on his back. Grabbing the rag on your nightstand, you start cleaning him up while whispering what a good boy he had been for you. By the time you were finished, your boyfriend was already dozing off. You giggled as he tried to keep his eyes open.
"You can go to sleep ya know." A tired pout fell on his lips as he clung to you.
"I wanna be awake when you tell me you love me." You softly smiled at him. He hummed in content when he felt you press a kiss to his forehead.
"I love you so much princess, I don't know what I'd do without you."

Paradise Lost
Author's note: So I found the prompt list from @serenityfails quite late in the evening and while fairly busy with something else, but figured I would still try. Then of course I could not think of anything because we all know how it works. I looked at some Codex' entries from Origins because because I was reading it a bit more attentively anyway, and the only idea that came my way was a lil' vignette set in the world of Dragon Age (Origins-esque). Very loose, and since I felt like going to my roots, also very poorly planned in advance or reflected upon after. Let's call it impressionist. Oh well.
Paradise Lost
In his short life, he made so many mistakes.
Of course, there was no honour in noticing that now, right at the end of that string of misery. After one's fall. Every sinner is ready to repent barely prior to meeting the Maker.
Yet there was more to his regrets. If the Maker was benevolent, if Andraste protected him, there was no way to end up hounded by the templars.
It wasn't just that his escape failed, he felt the subtle difference. It was the long nights on the run when he couldn't sleep a minute, so he took to thinking. All these hours of thinking. It was the mystic expansion of time as one waited for one's sentence -- hours could stretch into days and days. So many hours. How long did he wait? Were they even coming? They must be; if one thing was certain, it was the fact that they could not let a rogue mage stay on the run. Couldn't even let him die on the run.
And losing, yes, losing must have helped him realise his wrong-doings as well, but only because it humbled him so much.
He could not leave the Circle, and he could not live outside the Circle anyway.
He must have thought he was smarter than all of them, and smarter than history or fate. That his conscience, his moral compass trumped the holy teachings. He did not kill, and did not practice magic that wasn't passed down to him in the Circle as righteous. He hurt only in self-defence, and but a few times until now.
He hungered as not to steal. Oh, he was so hungry now.
Or maybe it was precisely because he tried to persist by the Chantry and Circle's teachings that he failed. Because his capacities were so contained, playing the crooked game by the unfair rules.
So hungry he could not move.
Perhaps he was so hungry he could not move.
No matter. He shouldn't have stolen. And he shouldn't have struck back the ignorant hand that was raised against him.
He couldn't run anymore; nevermind that, he couldn't move, or maybe he didn't want to. If they make him tranquil, that's all the better, though they ought to kill him by now.
Or did he kill someone today?
His arm ached for oblivion while not allowing him to doze off. Of course he did not deserve to rest, and there was no reason to gather strength anyway. No reason to do anything at all.
What should he have done differently?
Sometimes it all stopped aching, or maybe not so much aching as weeping with regret that nearly manifested itself as physical symptoms. He was so tired after all. But then and again feeling came back to his body, and it was all the worse because for a moment he was relieved of his senses, all the more susceptible.
Maybe he should go back and try to fix it?
He certainly should.
But he was so tired now, his body so heavy.
He was so warm, too, and the bed under him felt like salvation. When he near dozed off, it felt like heaven. Maybe his arm could stop hurting, and maybe he could fall asleep.
And then tomorrow will come -- and tomorrow he will find food, and then go back and fix it. Surely there must be a way to fix it. There always is.
Suddenly he felt so hopeful it blocked out all the discomfort.
It was not all bad, so he could certainly make it work. Somehow, but the details did not matter now.
Tomorrow.
The mage did not go out with a bang, the remainder of him struggling, bursting into his possessed form to wreck havoc.
Rather, he seemed tired, then peaceful, and then he slipped -- perhaps into what to him it looked merely as oblivion, but what turned out to be possession. For when he opened his eyes, there were no longer sad and tired, nor human.

Before I had even started this trip, I already had the worry of getting lost. Driving for hours on end through places I had never even heard of, it seemed inevitable. Despite that, I had no other choice but to go. What life I had here was gone, and staying would only have me stewing in the rotten memories and people that plagued me. Though this opportunity was a weak one, it was my only shot out of here. So I packed up my meager things and drove off into the unknown. Best to take my chances out there, then remain in this prison a minute longer. My anxiety born from this journey drove me to prepare for every possible scenario. The biggest worry was getting lost on the way there, but with a mountain of maps, a GPS and a folder of addresses, numbers and contacts, I figured I would be safe. After all, once you get into the barren countryside of flat fields and endless dirt, all you had to do was pick a road in the right direction and drive. I needed to go west, so that was what I did. I drove on for hours, but it felt like I had hardly moved. What a strange feeling it was, to travel hundreds of miles and see absolutely nothing. This trip was supposed to be a transformation, a needed change for me to finally regain control of my life. Yet, I felt no joy or wonder. I guess I was expecting to encounter breathtaking landmarks and travel through strange new places, evidence that the world was bigger than my ignorant little hometown. Instead, I drove through a flattened world of grass, corn, dirt and the occasional pathetic tree. Not exactly the scenery that inspires awe. This repetitive land was probably the reason why things turned out this way, as it was impossible to get a bearing when everything looked the same. Hours had passed since I turned onto that empty road, and yet I failed to notice that things were not right. I ignored the fact that I hadn't seen a single street sign the entire time, or that there were no forks or splits to be found. To be fair, it was long into the night, so most of the blank landscape was smothered by the darkness. I just held onto the idea that I was almost to the next town, if you could all any of these places that. What little civilization I had seen was a sad collection of wore down store fronts, crumbling bars and ancient gas stations. They sat in clumps along these forgotten roads, sharing much with the greasy roadkill that was spattered on the asphalt. Pathetic as these places were, I still yearned for them as I drove down that endless road. Surely one had to be nearby, I just needed to go a few more miles. I followed this delusion for quite some time, pretending that the lack of signs or markers wasn't something to be concerned about. Eventually, I just had to give up. With the clock on my dash showing some obscenely late time, I knew I needed to pull over to collect my thoughts. Looking over my supplies, I found my GPS worthless and the maps just as useless. With no service or any indicators that could help me pinpoint my position, these intricate foldouts might has well have been blank. It was then that I realized that I wasn't lost, as it felt like it was something far worse. When one is stranded in a place they don't know, one of the biggest issues is the overwhelming amount of options. Be it the woods or some unknown city, you are faced with many directions and choices, but you have no clue where any of them lead. Do I go north or south? Do I take the parkway or the back roads? Which exit on the roundabout gets me going the right way? With all this, it is obvious why clueless people wind up going in circles. That was what I considered being "lost" was. This, was something quite different. I didn't have a ludicrous amount of options, rather, I only had two. Go forward or back. The problem was that both choices felt wrong. The path forward had no hope or potential, no signs that suggested anything was to be found up ahead. That choice led to an unknown future, but it seemed more enticing than turning back. Though I didn't know what lay ahead, I did know what was behind me: absolutely nothing. Turning around would mean driving a countless amount of hours until found out where civilization had stopped, but I had no clue where or when that was. I would just be retracing my steps through a known wasteland, losing both time and gas. In the end, the unknown path ahead seemed more comforting. Surely I was bound to run into something eventually, even if it was a rusty road sign or some hermit's shack. Though my mind was made up, I chose not to continue just yet. I was drained of all energy, and I knew it was a poor choice to drive in such condition. It was the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere, so what harm was there to grabbing a quick nap? Perhaps sleeping until the sun returned was a good choice. Daylight could reveal clues about my whereabouts, ones that were currently blotted out by the dark. A rested mind would also work way better, and it would probably solve this problem in a second. So I made sure my car was properly off the road before I turned it off. I locked the doors and leaned my seat back as far as I could. It wasn't long after I closed my eyes that my exhausted body finally received some reprieve.   I awoke awkwardly, as if some unremembered dream or nightmare had snapped me from my slumber. It was still night, though I didn't know how much time had passed. I looked at my phone, but my groggy mind couldn't interpret the numbers it showed. I tried to stretch my limbs in the cramped space, but it gave very little relief. My drowsy state made me think that I had only dozed off for a few minutes, as I sure didn't feel any better. Perhaps this cluttered, stuffy car wasn't the best place to get some beauty rest. I figured I would try to go back to sleep, as my options at the moment seemed just as bad as before. As I wriggled around in an attempt to get comfortable, my eyes looked out into the night and saw it. It was funny how strange it seemed at that moment, though I knew fully well what it was. The slow flash of a yellow light, a sight I was quite familiar with, but my tired brain struggled to understand it. I leaned forward for a better look, but it didn't help in the slightest. With my car turned off, the world was pitch black, save for the errant star and that pulsing light. It sat way off in the distance, but there was no mistaking what it was. It took me a second to understand that this was a good sign. A human construct like this suggested civilization, and also a cross road. Perhaps up ahead was where I could find some identifying signs or directions to a nearby town. With sluggish joy, I went to turn on my car and pursue this miracle, but then the thought struck me from out of the blue. How come I didn't see this before? Sure, I was tired and disoriented at the time, but a bright yellow light blinking in a dark void seemed impossible to ignore. I had sat in this spot for a good while before I had decided to get some rest, so how come I didn't see it then? As I struggled to properly answer this question, I looked to the light and noticed something odd. Looking at it now, after a few minutes of gathering myself, it seemed to be bigger. It flashed brighter and larger than before, but perhaps it was just my imagination. I sat there for a moment and soon confirmed that this was no illusion. The light seemed to be getting closer to me. I looked to my dashboard, thinking I had accidentally put the car in neutral and I was slowly rolling forward. The little arrow pointed firmly on the P, so that couldn't be the answer. When I looked back up, the light was nearly blinding. It also seemed to bob and sway about, as if blown about by a weak breeze. The realization that it was the one moving froze me in my seat. I had no clue what it was or what was happening, so panic took over and short-circuited my body. A turned into a statue in the front seat and only stared with wide, terrified eyes. I did nothing but watch as the light bobbed closer, until it was at last upon me. At first I believed it to be heading right towards me, but in those few horrified moments, I saw it walking upon the very road I had traveled. It strolled down the middle, treading upon the cracked asphalt and faded lines. When the light came perpendicular to the front of me car, I at last could see what it was. I recognized the three colored traffic light that hung over every nearly every road, but the rest of it refused to be understood. I saw a metallic skeleton, built of rebar and steel. It bent and twisted into a bizarre lattice, creating limbs and body from an iron spider's web.  It walked upon four legs, and the blinding light hung from a long, arching neck. Something black and wet hung in clumps from its body, creating a sticky cloak over its wiry bones. As I sat frozen in terror, the metallic beast strolled down the road. It walked with slow tired steps, its blinking head hung low. Though it was clearly no creature of flesh, it made me thinking of an exhausted horse, weary from a long day's work. It didn't approach my car, it just kept walking by. It was only when it was passing my driver window that it paused. It stopped in its march and slowly turned its pulsing head towards my vehicle. I could not tell if it was looking at the car or me, but I clearly caught its attention. It gazed at me with a single yellow eye. Above and below sat the green and red, but they remained dark and cracked, like eyes that had long gone blind. It made no move, it just sat there for a moment to watch. After a few seconds, it sadly lifted its legs and continued on its march. The bobbing light continued down that endless road, the blinking growing weaker as it went deeper into the night. I sat there until that yellow light grew small in my mirror, becoming just another star in the darkened sky. I didn't know what to do, or even think about it. Though it showed no aggression, I dared not turn around and pursue it. Instead, I simply turned the car on and pulled back onto the road. I gave up on any thought or reasoning, my mind refused to accept what I had seen. I just got into that dusty old lane and began to drive onwards... -------------------------------------------- “Caution” A design I came up with a way back, which fittingly enough was around the time I went on my roadtrip. I think it came to be through a mashup of traffic signs and weird art sculptures.

So here is a little head cannon I thought of while reading your fan fic.
What if herobrine never had/celebrated his birthday so he forgot when it was, so Steve and Alex pick a day and celebrate his birthday with him. (P.s. sorry I have horrific grammer)
I liked this idea so much I made a little drabble under the read more :3 I hope it is worthy of such an great headcanon! Thank you so much for the ask! It fills me with joy to hear that people are thinking about my story lol <3. And don't worry. Grammar is hard and doesn't make any sense. I feel your pain
Before we dive in: this takes place pretty earlier into Steve and Brine becoming friends. So they are just starting to pine. Not in a relationship yet. Alex and Brine are still a little wary of each other but have come to accept that they are stuck with each other.
I'd say this is rated teen for just some small strong language lol
-
The Birthday Brine
-
It was a hot, lazy summer afternoon. Too nice to spend down in the mines. But a little too warm to do any strenuous activities.
So Alex and Steve decided to go on down to the small river they frequented on days like today. A secluded area where the water pooled deep enough to swim. And, of course, Herobrine tagged along. As was becoming more of the norm these days.
Steve was lying comfortably in the shade of a few trees on the bank of the river. Legs in the water; small waves lapped up to his knees as the water went by. Arms crossed behind his head. His shirt was off and laid over his eyes, shutting out any of the light that filtered through the leaves. Not really dozing off, but close to it.
Herobrine was similarly relaxing. He lay on his belly; balanced precariously on a nearby tree that had fallen over the river. Looking like a big cat lounging about in the direct sun. Soaking up the rays. One hand was draped down to the side, touching the cool water.
Alex was the only one fully in the river. She was a little upstream, floating on her back. She had taken off her pants, leaving them on the shore, and let her long green shirt cover her lower half. Every once in a while she would swim back to her original place as the current took her down towards Herobrine.
The trio had been chatting absentmindedly. Talking about anything, really. Steve ranted humorously about his pickaxe making a squeaking sound. Alex discussed way too many of the current happenings in town. Even Herobrine brought up that a dragonfly had landed on his shoulder. Which had the trio all staring for a bit before it flew off and they went back to their current positions.
It wasn't until a certain question came to Alex’s mind that the peace of the scene was disturbed.
"Hey Sparky." The adventurer asked. "...How old are you?"
Herobrine took a while to answer. Seeming to think through the question slowly. Finally he asked without opening his eyes. "Why?"
"Just curious." Alex shrugged, swimming a little.
The demon shifted. Now peaking over to look at Steve. It was like the miner could tell that he was being looked at because he lifted his shirt to look back questioningly.
Herobrine spoke up. "When was the last time I respawned? Four months ago?"
Steve frowned. "Yes. More like three. You fell through a roof, remember?"
"Right, right." Herobrine moved his hand up out of the water. "Terribly made and rusty old structure. Glad it forced a respawn. Tetanus is not fun even with healing powers."
"Why is this relevant?" Alex asked impatiently.
"I'm 28." Herobrine said immediately.
Alex sat up in the water. Causing a bit of a ruckus amongst some fish that had gotten close. "No you're not!"
"Yes I am." Herobrine turned his attention to her. She shuddered ever so slightly under his scrutinizing stare. "Every time I die, I respawn back to the same age at which I turned immortal."
Alex crossed her hands over her chest. "Okay, well that's only technically. I meant, like, if you count ALL the years you've been alive."
"I have no fucking clue, Alex." Herobrine rolled his head to the otherside of the tree to ignore her. Yet continued to talk. "Time loses all meaning when you're immortal. Not to mention I was trapped in the nether for most of that time. So it's even harder to tell."
"What's your best guess?" Steve asked, now curious as well.
And the head came back around. Looking at Steve. The demon wouldn't ignore the miner. He bit his lip, eyes trailing towards the water. "I dunno... maybe a few centuries... a millennia or so..."
"Old." Steve clarified. Seeing that the demon was struggling a little.
"Yeah... old." Herobrine scowled.
"So, what, do we have to, like, wait until you live a year to celebrate your birthday?" Alex giggled. "No wonder you don't remember it. It would never be your birthday based on that criteria."
Herobrine scoffed. "What are you talking about?"
"Yeah." Steve added, putting the shirt back over his eyes. "Come to think of it, when is your birthday, Brine?"
"You want to know the exact date I was born?" Herobrine sat up now, clearly confused. "Fuck... I don't know. I didn't even keep track of days back then. I just survived. It wasn't until I met... my brother that we talked about days. And he was able to do some weird 'code calculation' as he called it to figure out my true age. But we didn't really care about that. None of us counted in the aether. None of us wanted to count. When you have endless time you tend not to care. It's a depressing chore."
"So none of you celebrated your birthday?" Alex asked.
"Why would you celebrate your birth?" Herobrine growled. "Existence is a curse."
"That's why we have to celebrate!" Alex exclaimed. "It helps us mortals to forget about our fleeting existence."
"Yeah!" Steve enthusiastically raised a fist to the sky in agreement.
"Like the aether needed another reason to celebrate..." Herobrine grumbled, flopping back down on the tree. "The amount of bullshit dances I had to get dressed up for was astronomical."
"So you really have never had a birthday, huh?" Steve wasn't sure why he was surprised.
"Nope." Herobrine said, popping the p and settling back on the tree. Thinking that was the end of the conversation.
But Steve and Alex had other plans.
"Bro you thinking what I'm thinking?"
"You think we have enough time today?"
"Sure why not? We were already planning on going into town together."
"Then we better hurry."
"What are you two talking about?" Herobrine muttered. The siblings were getting out of the water and putting back on their clothes.
"We're going to throw you a birthday party!" Steve smiled over at him.
Herobrine almost fell off his branch.
"W-what? Why?"
Alex shrugged. "Well, if you don't know what day your birthday is, it might as well be any day. And since we are already all together and don't have any plans for the rest of the evening... why not?"
Herobrine teleported off his tree and stood next to the two. "You really don't need to-"
"Too late, it's happening." Alex smiled. Starting to walk off. Not putting on her shoes as she walked through the increasingly tall grass.
"Go wait in the nether and come back around sunset!" Steve pushed on his back excitedly. As if he could shove him through a portal that wasn't there.
"Why?"
"We are gonna surprise you!"
"Oh. Yippee. Surprise." Herobrine did not mask his unenthusiasm.
"It'll be fun, I promise." Steve said as he stopped pushing and went to go join Alex.
Herobrine was left alone and very confused as to what had just happened. He blinked up at the setting sun and winced. He wouldn't know the correct time in the nether. So he decided to go back to his tree branch and relax until the time came. He had no idea what was in store for him. But he didn't try to think too hard about it. If he didn't like it he could always teleport away.
All this talk of aether and age had his head buzzing with unpleasant thoughts. He tried to will them away and think of nothing instead. Watching as the river flowed beneath him. The dragonfly landed back on his hands.
-
It was just after sunset when Herobrine was walking up to Steve's small house and knocking on the door. Steve was adamant about him knocking. As Herobrine had the tendency to just teleport into a location, unannounced. There was the sound of muffled talking as well as a wonderful smell of something cooking in the furnace.
He heard the miner walk towards the door, he recognized his footsteps easily. Much different than Alex’s.
Steve cracked open the door. "Herobrine, you have perfect timing! We are just finishing up."
Herobrine tried to move forward but Steve closed the door more. He smiled, shyly. "Er. You gotta close your eyes."
"... Why?"
Steve smiled wider. "It's all part of the process."
So Herobrine huffed and closed his eyes. Steve took him by the hand. Leading him inside. Herobrine could feel his heartbeat where they connected. The miner was excited. So Herobrine was excited.
He was led into the house and then Steve stopped and walked over to join where he could sense Alex.
"Surprise!" They both yelled.
Herobrine stood there with his eyes closed. Face oozing confusion.
"Open your eyes now, Brine." Steve whispered loudly to him.
"Oh." And he did. He blinked and took in the sight.
The inside of the house was decorated with a few colored strings on the ceiling and what seemed to be little torches everywhere else. It was very simple and yet very pretty.
"Do you like it?" Alex asked.
"We didn't have too much time to decorate so we made due with what we had." Steve said. "Probably not as fancy as your aether parties."
"No." Herobrine smiled. "But I like this better." The aether parties were always decorated with too much. This was nice and made Herobrine feel cozy.
Alex gestured to the table, patting the chair to sit down. "Since it's pretty late we figured we'd just do a birthday dinner. Steve said you would eat if we made you food."
Herobrine nodded. Glad he hadn't had anything to eat for a while. He wasn't the biggest fan of eating. Steve had been reintroducing it to him slowly. The miner was an excellent cook.
"Good!" Alex smiled. Steve sat next to Herobrine at the table. "I handled dinner and Steve handled the most important part of a birthday, the dessert!"
"It all smells nice." Herobrine commented politely. It did. He was actually excited to eat.
Alex disappeared into the kitchen. Preparing plates for them all. Steve and Herobrine shared a look. Both smiling, somewhat uncomfortable and comfortable at the same time. It didn't last long as Alex came out with two plates, setting it down in front of them.
The meal consisted of roasted corn, slathered in butter, some sort of shredded pork on bread with some sweet sauce, and a cold potato salad. Steve instantly dug in. Probably hungry from all the work they had been doing. Herobrine waited for Alex to return with her own plate before starting to pick at the food. It wasn't long before he was eating more sloppily than Steve. Alex apologized, saying she wanted to make something more special like a smoked biscuit but Herobrine wasn't sure why she was sorry. It was all delicious. And Herobrine found himself wanting to eat the entire plate. It was the perfect meal on the warm night.
The house was filled with the delightful sounds of eating. None of them talked very much. Not needing to. Just enjoying each other’s company. And the food! They were all very invested in the food.
Once they were done, Herobrine was tempted to ask for more. But he remembered that there was still dessert to eat. He started to try to clean up his plate. But Steve stopped him immediately. "Ah, ah. No dishes when it's your birthday."
"Hmm. This birthday business keeps getting better." Herobrine smirked at him.
Steve disappeared into the kitchen and returned with two plates filled with two generous slices of homemade chocolate cake.
He set them down in front of Alex and his own seats. "We have a special slice for you, Herobrine. Hold on."
Steve rushed away and walked slowly back with a similar piece of cake. But this one had a very tiny torch stuck in the middle of it. Herobrine blinked. Huh. Strange.
"It's a candle." Steve explained. "It's a tradition to have some on your cake. We only had this old one." He set the on fire cake in front of him. Herobrine enjoyed the fire flare. "Usually you have a candle for every year you've been alive."
"But that would've set the house on fire." Alex snickered.
Herobrine rolled his eyes and tried to grab his fork. But Alex stopped him. "Wait! We have to sing to you!"
"Er, no thanks." That seemed silly. He did not want to be sung to.
Steve made a face. "I don't like that part either. I think we should skip it."
"We have to! It's tradition!" Alex wrapped her elbow around Steve’s neck. "Come on, Stevie. One time!"
"Alright. Alright." He caved easily. And they began.
Herobrine sat awkwardly as the two sang a little song. Saying his name. Herobrine had never heard Steve sing. It was nice. He had a pleasant voice. He thought the man should sing more. He hummed a lot but never truly sang.
Once they were done. Alex said. "Now you make a wish and blow out the candle."
"A wish? Wish for what?"
"For anything." Steve added. "But you have to wish in your head. And don't tell anyone or your wish won't come true."
"Like a curse?"
"Yeah kinda. But it's just for fun."
The demon chewed on his lip. Seeming to think about it. He nodded eventually. "Okay. I've made my wish."
"Now blow out the candle to complete the spell." Alex joked. Steve nudged her.
Herobrine looked at the small torch on the cake and willed the fire away. It went out.
Alex and Steve stared. Alex giggled. "Guess there's more than one way to skin an ocelot."
"Why would you-" Herobrine blinked.
"It's an expression." Steve laughed, sitting down and picking up his fork to eat his piece of cake. "Ignore her and dig in while the cake is still warm."
Herobrine did, setting the small torch- candle aside and picking up his fork to eat. The cake looked moist. Fresh. And smelled absolutely delicious. His mouth was watering before he even put the treat in his mouth.
When he took a bite he almost moaned. "H-holy fuck." He quickly took another bite.
Alex giggled. "Never had a Steve-made cake have you?"
"Steve, you should stop cooking everything and just make cake from now on." Herobrine had almost finished his piece already. It was just so damn good. He couldn't stop.
"Then it wouldn't be special." Steve chuckled. Looking happy that they both seemed to be enjoying his cake.
"Can I have more?" Herobrine asked, frosting definitely smeared all over his face, unabashedly.
Steve and Alex howled at that. The demon just looked so different from how they normally saw him. It was nice. And also hilarious.
Herobeine got a second slice and sat back, looking full. The demon didn't usually eat so it was a lot all at once. Totally worth it though.
"Present time!" Alex jumped up from the table as Steve moved the dishes into the kitchen.
"Present time?" Herobrine parroted.
"You get presents on your birthday!" Alex walked over to grab two things that had been set aside on a coffee table. "From everyone who comes to the party."
Alex handed Steve something and walked back to the table to give Herobrine a rectangle that looked like a book wrapped in paper. Herobrine took it confused. "Er, thanks?" He held it in his hands.
"You gotta open it dude!" Alex said excitedly.
"Open it?"
"Yeah tear open the paper!"
"Oh." Herobrine, a demon of destruction, ironically opened the book very carefully. Not wanting to damage it.
He held the book up once it was unwrapped. It was, indeed, a book. Not too hard to guess correctly.
"It's a book of modern day phrases." Alex explained. Tapping the cover. She smirked. "I know that you have some trouble with some of our more modern hip lingo."
Herobrine lifted an eyebrow at her. He flipped to a random page. "There's more than one way to skin an ocelot? Oh. I get your 'joke' now."
"See. You're learning already." She snickered. Steve smiled too.
Herobrine looked confused. But not unappreciative. He waved his hand, tucking the book away into his inventory. "Er, thanks. I will read the rest later."
"No problem!" She giggled. She then pushed Steve forward. "Go ahead, your turn."
Steve had a paper package tied up in butcher's twine behind his back. He coughed and walked forward, handing Herobrine the parcel.
The demon took it. Knowing what to do now, he tore into the paper. Revealing what was inside.
He paused when he realized what it was after pulling all the paper off and letting it float to the ground.
"It's... your cloak." Herobrine said. Not giving away any emotion. Steve seemed to droop a little. Expecting him to be a little happier. Alex nudged the miner. They shared a look. Steve rolled his eyes. He walked closer to the demon, touching the cloak in his hands.
"I knew it would already fit you. And there wasn't enough time to get you a new one made. I just know how much you like to borrow it from me when it gets colder." Steve ran his fingers along the cloak. Pointing out some stitching on the green material. "I sewed up all the holes so it won't be as drafty. And-" He tapped the button that held the cloak together. "I replaced the old latch with a golden one I got from town today. I know you said you like to wear a little gold in the nether for piglin respect or... whatever." The miner let go of the cloak and backed up, rubbing his head awkwardly.
Herobrine stared at the green gloak. Rubbing the material in his fingers.
"If... if you don't like-"
"I love it." Herobrine almost whispered. Sounding so genuine it made Steve blush and Alex smile. "It's perfect."
"O-oh." Steve scratched his head again. "Good. I'm glad." He smiled, looking away. Desperately trying to hide his blush. He had gone bright red. And Herobrine wasn't helping.
The demon stood instantly and put the cloak around his body. He had worn it before. But it looked different now. Like it was his now. It was truly his.
Herobrine looked up at Steve. "This is... the greatest gift I've ever been given." He didn't smile but his glowing eyes said it all. He was absolutely telling the truth. "Thank you, Steven."
The miner stared back. Smiling to the side and tilting his head. Embarrassed but screaming on the inside in happiness.
Alex had to butt in. Not liking the way the two were looking at each other and getting a little protective of Steve. "Pfft. Thanks a lot there, Briney boy. Glad my gift meant nothing."
Herobrine blinked. Processing the words. And then realized. "Oh, no, sorry Alex. Thank you as well."
"Yeah whatever." Alex nudged him with her fist, walking past him. She then let out a yawn. "Well. I think I'm all birthday partied out. Mind if I crash on your couch, Stevie? It's too late to walk home."
"Sure I'll get you some blankets." Steve mimicked the yawn. His eyes looked tired. They did do a lot to put the party together for him. They deserved a rest. "Happy Birthday, Brine."
"Thank you." Herobrine nodded. "Thank you both. This was... enjoyable."
"See our traditions aren't so bad." Alex said, flopping down on the couch.
"I do believe I've judged it too early." Herobrine nodded. "You do this every year?"
"Yep. And you get to do the planning and gift giving to us when it's our birthdays. No party is exactly the same." Alex nodded. "I think planning is actually more fun than celebrating your own birthday."
"Oh. Well I look forward to that. You will have to remind me when the time comes. Time is... difficult for me."
"Of course, dude." Steve produced some blankets from the closet. Herobrine sensed it was time to make his leave. He headed for the door.
"Thank you again." He said a little awkwardly. "I will uh, see you both tomorrow."
"Sounds good!" "Bye!" The siblings said.
And with Herobrine out the door. Steve and Alex looked at each other.
"I think that went well." Steve said.
"I think you owe me money for not making a single birthday suit joke." Alex said back. He threw the blankets over her head as she giggled.
"Goodnight Alex!" He went to his bedroom, trying to hide his blush. "Put out the candles before you sleep."
"I'm just saying, Stevie! That would've been a better gift if you-"
"Goodnight Alex!!"
Herobrine stood just outside the door. He wiggled his shoulders a little. Feeling the soft weight of the cloth around his shoulders. He smiled. Feeling warm inside and out. And teleported off.

If it's not to much right now could you make a continuation to the Orfeu in the hospital thing. Like just a little bit of Orfeu trying to comfort Haru and Blue giving Orfeu a hug or something like that.
This .. isn't really comfort lol
Cw: medical, drugging; being forced to interact with an abuser, pet whump
...He nearly crumbled as he stepped into the hospital room. The car ride had been torture, but this… this was a whole new kind of pain. Blue squeak a little behind him, as Haru fell to his knees besides the hospital bed.
Master was… a mess. He had seen Orfeu wounded and tired and sick… but never like this.
Hundreds of smalls cut, bandages, cast, tube on his nose to help him breathe. He blinked, staring at Haru, unseeing. Dazed on sedatives, and painkillers, Farlan said.
"Master" Fell to his side, as Haru caught Orfeu's hand on his, taking his face close to it.
"P-p-please…" he whispered, struggling on the words. A whisper. But, still… he needed Master to hear it. He needed it "...Please Orfeu… please…"
"Haru…" Orfeu whispered back, his voice raspy, and the speech wobbly "Baby.. whshet didijng fhre…."
He closed his eyes, dozing off. And Haru sat down, eyes watering. Blue sat by his side, pulling Haru into a hug.
"He will be, be, be okay…" He reassures, leaning against Haru's shoulder "he, he, he is strong…"
And Haru nods, trying to comfort himself.
...they stay there until the staff kicks them out. Young Master… is still waiting for them in the reception. Part of him wished he would just have left.
Still, he follows into the car, and let's Farlan drive him to the apartment. He feels powerless, and lost, and the only person who means safety can't help him now. If anything… Orfeu is the one who needs help. Yet all he can do… is try to be good, and hope for the best. Like he always did.

A Conversation in the midst of Conflict
Read on AO3 | FFN
Sansa was born from a clutch of five eggs.
Her dam, a red fire dragon from the south, was probably the reason why the eggs hatched slowly and not all at once, as it usually happened in the North. Her sire, a regal ice drake of the North, viewed this as a sort of terrible thing and regularly nosed worriedly at the rest of her slowly hatching siblings.
Robb, first, with the ice scales of their sire and fire breath of their dam. Sansa, who had felt her sire nosing at her worriedly, went next just to reassure him. She had the coloring of their dam and her fire claws, but the ice breath of their sire.
The rest of the clutch hatched more slowly and it took Sansa a lot of effort to distract their worried sire.
Not that Sansa was that overly concerned. As a young dragon, technically a hatchling until she passed her third decade, Sansa was more concerned about food, play hunting with Robb and finding treasure.
Dragons loved treasure, though it varied on what that treasure was.
Sansa’s dam treasured beauty, thus she surrounded herself with beautiful things. That was one of the reasons why she mated with Sansa’s sire who, as an ice drake, was naturally very beautiful.
Sansa’s sire treasured sharp things, hence his need to hunt down some animals for their claws.
Robb and Sansa discussed their possible treasures under the wide, comforting wings of their dam. With just the two of them, it was quite cozy and she sometimes didn’t understand why her sire was so worried about the rest of the clutch that were taking their time hatching.
Robb, who already shared their dams tendency to fixate on something, wondered if his treasure would be a mix of both. Sansa, who was more whimsical, wondered if hers would be difficult to find.
All that went away in the events of the following years.
A decade under her belt, the rest of her clutch hatched and the western dragons arrived and talked of interlopers. Small, bipedal and without wings or claws. They were also killing dragons.
Sansa curled up under her dams wings and listened with fascination and no small amount of horror.
Without wings, claws or scales, they were killing dragons and stealing their eggs and their treasures.
Her sire, being the strongest dragon, banded all of them and they stood under his banner. He trooped them all to the west and negotiated.
Sansa, of course, was left with a handful of the younger hatchlings, as well as the older dragons. They watched over the mountains and Robb watched with ever increasing vigilance over them. This made Arya and Bran chafe something fierce, when Robb had previously been a fun playmate.
Torn between rowdy, rambunctious clutch-siblings and a fiercely overprotective clutch-brother, Sansa took to wandering down the mountain and finding something else to do.
Hunting was a communal activity and everyone contributed. At most, that took a few hours. Sansa had the rest of the day to think about what to do.
And then she encountered a shiny pink bipedal.
It took Sansa a while to understand what she was looking at, because she had never seen a bipedal of her own.
She crawled forward, trying not to make noise, like she was hunting the skittish hairy buffalo’s. She crawled until she was nose to nose with the strange creature and could smell him.
And it was a him, she realized. There was a distinct scent of maleness and steel. Oil, steel and salt. And something sour.
With another whuff of breath, Sansa realized that the bipedal was awake.
It’s eyes were wide and it was saying something with its maw. Nonsensical noises that no dragon could hope to understand, because it was so loud.
“Hello?” she said, hoping he could understand her.
The bipedal went still and the sour scent increased. He gripped something iron firmly and Sansa touched it curiously with her nose. She sneezed when the scent of old blood overwhelmed her.
To her horror, that old blood scent was of dragons.
Sansa back-pedaled in a hurry, staring at the steel. What a horrible thing. Did he wash his iron in dragon blood?
Sansa wanted to fly away, but if she did, this bipedal might hunt her down. She knew some dragons who liked the hunt. If this bipedal wanted to hunt her, she would not oblige him.
With a low growl, Sansa crouched and prepared to pepper the interloper with a blast of ice breath. It might not be as impressive as her sires, but it would hopefully blind the interloper on what direction she would fly to.
The bipedal dropped his iron and Sansa was confused enough to stop. What was he doing?
He knelt and…he showed his neck.
Different species though they were, surrender was something universal, as was submission.
She got closer, because he smelled better without the iron thing muddling his smell. Just to be sure, she blasted it with a bit of ice breath, coating it in ice and snow and burying it under the earth. The air smelled clearer and she approached him with an energetic swish of her tail.
“Better,” she decided loudly. She sniffed him again and added a lick for good measure. There, he smelled like her.
His eyes were wide and he smelled overwhelmingly sour again.
“Are you afraid?” Sansa asked, realizing why he smelled sour. “Do not be. I will not harm you.”
Sansa curled around him, letting him rest on her fire scales so he would be warm and purring, a low rumbling sound that was designed to put hatchlings to sleep.
When she next looked, the bipedal was asleep.
Sansa purred deeper and rested her snout on her paws.
.
.
Sansa blinked and realized that she’d fallen into a light doze. A muffled groan made her realize what woke her up.
Her bipedal was awake! And he was no longer smelling sour.
Sansa hurriedly stood up, stretching her wings wide and investigating the scent of meat on fire.
“Why is your meat on fire?” she asked. “And why are you eating it like that?”
The bipedal went still and then continued moving, offering her a bit of the burned meat.
It was an insult to offer burned meat to an ice drake, but Sansa realized that this bipedal probably didn’t know that.
With a huff, she froze the meat before eating it delicately between her fangs. It was difficult, because the bipedal had drained it of blood too, making it incredibly dry to eat. Her nose wrinkled the entire time and the bipedal made a chittering noise.
Sansa blinked at his maw full of fangs.
He didn’t smell aggressive. Instead, he smelled….happy?
With a hesitant twitch, Sansa imitated him and he chittered louder. He smelled happier. Sansa purred.
.
.
Sansa bundled up her bipedal in a warm cave and hunted him a buffalo for good measure. She dropped the struggling creature in the cave, to the bipedal’s loud shouts. He killed it, which made Sansa huff irritably. Well, maybe he liked his prey to be dead? Sansa preferred to hunt hers.
Sansa nosed a couple more leaves on top of the entrance and a few more piles of snow, before leaving. She could not stay a couple more hours, or Robb would ring the alarm and the search would begin.
Something made her want to stay. This bipedal, this pink, hairless creature…he was so helpless. He shivered constantly unless she was touching him. He was also helpless at catching prey. He was…important.
The bipedal touched her snout and Sansa shivered.
With a sigh, she licked him head to toe again and left.
.
.
Robb looked at her suspiciously the entire time, but Sansa had rolled in the lake before entering the cave, so he couldn’t possibly smell the bipedal on her.
“Where were you? I needed help with our clutch-siblings,” he exclaimed, his tail thrashing back and forth irritably.
Sansa herself was still. “You were being annoying. Dam and sire are not here, but that does not make you in charge,” she said sourly.
“But I am,” a larger, elderly dragon posited, bulk unnoticed with his dark color in the cave. “And where were you, Sansa ice-eater?”
Sansa sniffed. “By the lake. Because you were all smelly.”
They let go of that and Sansa huddled with her clutch. She found herself idly wishing that she was curled around her bipedal.
.
.
Cor struggled with sleep, because he was so tired.
Tired, cold and exhausted, but not hungry. Because there was a freaking water buffalo hanging in a spit in front of him.
He was also, he thought with some hysteria, some sort of friend to a dragon.
He hadn’t actually wanted to kill any of the majestic creatures, and after his first kill, he deserted, leaving the army and hoping to die in the colder climate of the mountains.
He just hadn’t realized that the mountains were the home to the stronger, more deadly dragons and he’d realized he was fucked the moment he woke up from his exhausted nap face to face with a fucking ice and fire drake hybrid.
He saw the fire scales, and the ice fangs and knew he was a dead man.
Except.
Except the hybrid hadn’t eaten him, and other than sniffing his sword and threatening to kill him, hadn’t even looked like it wanted to hurt him.
He’d discarded the sword quickly and the hybrid had buried it in ice and dirt. A dragon who breathed ice. It was insane.
The hybrid then curled around him and Cor was exhausted enough to fall back asleep because the hybrid was a furnace of heat.
He woke up, caught a bird and roasted it, which seemed to wake up the hybrid. He offered it some and he damn near cackled at its face when it ate cooked meat. It had to ice it over. Note to self, no cooked meat for the hybrid.
He didn’t regret throwing away his sword because the dragon was cautiously friendly.
He regretted only having a knife though when the hybrid dropped a living water buffalo near him and he didn’t have his sword to kill it with. A lucky strike and the buffalo was dead. The dragon looked confused but not offended.
It also left, but not before piling the entrance of the cave with more ice and dirt. More a blockade or a door than anything.
Also licking. Let’s not forget the licking.
Cor was confused, but alive. He was also very much done of smelling like dragon drool and had to wiggle out of the pile of ice and dirt just to have a bath. He knows there’s a lake near, because water buffalo’s lived near water.
It took a while to find it, and he was almost in tears at the sight of all the water.
The first splash of water on him was heaven sent and also ice-cold freezing.
He was in and out in five minutes, the fastest he’d ever bathed in his life. There was a lack of soap and his clothes were still dirty, but it was warm and he’d rather have dirty clothes than hypothermia.
A huff of air behind him, and Cor knew it was the hybrid dragon before he could turn around.
“Good morning!” he greeted, more cheerful after the bath.
The dragon huffed at him, looking confused, before opening its mouth.
Cor, somehow, knew it was going to lick him again.
“No!” he exclaimed, dodging the tongue.
The dragon looked even more annoyed.
“No licking!” he cried out.
The dragon rumbled a sour growly note, but stopped trying to lick him. It nosed at Cor’s hair and sneezed.
“I know, I smell,” he confided. He felt a little bit mad at talking to a dragon. “But there’s no soap here, or soapwort.”
Soapwort, which you could crush and simulate the effects of soap. Extremely handy during long campaigns and the army ran out of soap. Except, it seemed to thrive only in hot and temperate climates. Not in the extremely cold mountains.
The dragon made its own rumbling noises. Noises that had so alarmed Cor the night before seemed to be more conversational than anything in the light of day.
It was more of a comfort to Cor than the dragon probably knew. He had been alone for so long that even random noises that seemed to answer and talk back at him was more conversation than he had in weeks. At some point, Cor gestured and dragged his hand across it’s scales.
The dragon then went still.
Cor also went still, because shit, he’d forgotten he was talking to a dragon.
Then.
Then wonders of fucking wonders, the dragon pushed up at Cor’s hand.
Cor had acquainted himself with enough animals to know what that meant.
Cor petted the dragon. The dragon fucking fell asleep on him!
.
.
Sansa had fallen asleep on top of her bipedal and he had looked uncomfortable and smelled hungry.
She hurried him along to his cave, where she knew his food was.
Some of the hairy buffalo was still there, he must not have been so hungry then if he left some. Sansa watched him eat and wanted to purr again. There was something incredibly soothing watching her bipedal take care of himself.
She could just watch him move around and do whatever it was that bipedals do and be content.
An alarm rang in her hindbrain and Sansa raised her head up.
Her bipedal..??? Had she…had she….made this creature her treasure???
With a squawk of alarm, Sansa licked her bipedal goodbye – ignored his shout of disgust - and flew back to her elders.
“How did you realize you’d found your treasure,” she asked the Eldest of twelve clutch. Her name was a long one and Sansa only bothered to call her Eldest like all the other hatchlings.
The Eldest peered down at her through old, milky eyes and smelled amused.
“I looked at my treasure of shiny rocks and wanted to no one else to touch them,” she crooned in her old, soothing voice.
Which. Was exactly what she felt, staring at her bipedal.
“Ah, thank you, Eldest,” she said.
Sansa wandered over to her clutch-siblings and curled around Rickon tightly. He was still a few months old and struggled to coordinate wings, tail and limbs without tangling himself up.
Robb stared at her suspiciously, because he was just like that, and Sansa rolled her eyes.
She was just in time for storytelling and listened with interest about the dragon who went mad talking to birds. The lesson being to eat your prey quickly and not to play with it, or it’s blood.
Sansa had heard the same stories told over and over since she was hatched. Some of them were boring, but something about the story made her hackles rise up and listen.
What about old Aicorn who played with his bird before eating it. The bird had gotten a bite at Aicorn’s tongue, drawing blood. Aicorn, who drank at the bird’s blood too…and both of them apparently went mad.
Blood. Sharing blood?
Sansa felt her tail move in excitement. To be able to understand her treasure. What a gift.
Sansa curled tighter around Rickon, who grumbled irritably, and went to sleep.
.
.
Cor was alarmed to find the dragon sniffing him over with intent the next day.
The dragon hadn’t done that since that disastrous first meeting and Cor wanted to cry. Why? Why was the dragon suspicious? Had he done something wrong?
He did notice that the dragon had left really fast yesterday, seemingly alarmed over something.
Then the dragon opened its mouth and revealed those incredibly sharp fangs. Cor went still, especially when the dragon aimed those fangs at his…at his fingers? Did the dragon want his finger?
Cor obliged, cutting a finger at one fang and the dragon licked at the blood, wrinkling its nose.
It hurt, but not so much, because the dragons fangs were ice cold too.
Then, to his horror, the dragon bit at its own forepaw and offered the welled up blood to Cor. Difference in species or not, the gesture for that was the same.
“Are you insane?” he asked loudly.
The dragon huffed, a tail pushed him forward and he tripped. The dragon, in a crazy show of coordination, pushed that bleeding forepaw at him and Cor involuntarily licked and swallowed.
He wanted to wretch immediately.
“Eurgh!” he gagged. “Oh my god, it tastes like day old buffalo blood.”
To his alarm, there was a hum in his mind, a feminine voice going, “How do you know what day old buffalo blood tastes like?”
Cor wasn’t educated, but he was smart. He immediately understood what that blood sharing was for.
“Did you…just exchange blood with me so we could talk?” Cor asked. He wasn’t sure what to be surprised about anymore.
“Did you not want to communicate?” the dragon asked, sounding distressed. “I thought you did, you chittered about so loudly.”
Cor was loud. The dragon, who made a thud every time she landed. The dragon who purred like an extra large cat. And sure, Cor was the loud one.
“Communication is fine,” Cor said dryly. “What’s your name, anyway? If you have one. My name is Cor.”
“I am Sansa of the Stark line, First Clutch of the Fire Drake Catelyn and Ice Drake Eddard, Lord of the Northern Mountains and Protector of the Seven Dragon Clans of the North,” the dragon announced proudly.
Cor was pretty sure his mouth was hanging open. What the fuck.
He was hanging out with a fucking Drake Lord’s daughter.
Practically a princess.
And she kept licking him.
Cor blinked out of his thoughts and looked at the dragon in front of him.
“Nice to meet you, Sansa,” he said. “Why do you keep licking me?”
Sansa laughed, which sounded rumbled terrifyingly out-loud, but sounded nicely in his mind. “Because you smell wrong. Like oil and salt and steel.”
“What are you called, Cor?” she asked. “I keep calling you fleshy bipedal.”
Cor choked on a laugh. “You’re not wrong. I’m a human.”
“A human! What a nice word. Yes, I will say it often. Human,” Sansa sang. “Much better than bipedal.”
“Have you been calling us that?” Cor asked with a smile. Yes, he could see the humor. King Mors thought that the dragons were savage, beastly creatures. But instead, they had clans. They had hierarchy. They had Lords. They were nobler than the humans that Cor knew.
“Yes, it was what we saw, so we called you that. Cor, why are your people here?” Sansa asked. She sounded curious.
“Because King Mors is a crazy, bloodthirsty monster that wants your peoples gold,” Cor answered bitterly before he could think about it.
“Gold?” Sansa asked, looking curious.
If what he remembered about theories about telepathy was true….
He thought long and hard about gold and tried to project the thought to her.
“Oh! You mean the shiny, yellow stuff!” she exclaimed. “It’s useless. It’s too soft to be used as a structure and too easily mixed with other metals for anything else. It’s mostly just good for decoration.”
Cor really did laugh then. Dragons found gold useless. What else?
“You don’t use gold as treasure?” he had to ask. “Then what do you treasure?”
Sansa sat on her haunches and tucked her tail around her limbs neatly. “Different things. It depends on the dragon? My dam treasures beautiful things. My sire treasures sharp things.”
That was fascinating. Different dragons and different treasures. He knew that lore book on dragons was trash.
“And you?” he had to ask. “What do you treasure?”
Sansa peered at him, blue eyes slitted and intelligent. “I treasure you, my fleshy bipedal human Cor.”
.
.
After that declaration, which Sansa found immensely embarrassing and simultaneously pleasing to say so bluntly, her human, her Cor, turned red. It was a fascinating look on him and she wondered why she turned that color.
He spluttered and made flailing motions with his limbs and Sansa just watched him. She could really just watch him move around and be pleased. He was such a helpless thing and she treasured him so.
After he calmed down from his upset, Sansa and Cor talked long and hard into the afternoon about serious things. Mostly about the war and what they could do to avoid it and possibly stop it.
“My dam and sire are trying to open negotiations,” Sansa offered. “Though no one knows how that is going. They have been gone for three moons and the hatchlings are lonely.”
Cor snorted, that strange affectation that conveyed so much with so little. “If King Mors is who they’re negotiating with, then no, things won’t go well. But. If they talk to Prince Regis, then things…might be resolved.”
Sansa pondered this. “How do we make your Prince Regis be the Lord of the humans then?”
Cor answered hesitantly, “When King Mors dies.”
Sansa smiled, a mouth full of ice fangs. “Then he will die. And then we will talk to your Regis.”
.
.
Their conversation, which had veered into the treasonous territory (for Cor that is), was derailed when a large hybrid ice drake dropped down and landed on Sansa’s back, screeching.
Since Cor had no connection to that ice drake, he didn’t attack immediately. It might be friendly. Or not. Cor could understand Sansa and she sounded annoyed, not angry.
“Clutch-brother, what are you doing?” she demanded.
The ice drake hybrid, her freaking brother, growled. Low, deep and threatening.
Staring at the two dragons and cataloguing differences, Cor immediately realized that the other dragon was male. It was smaller, and it’s wings wider. It was also covered in more spines than Sansa and it’s claws were ice instead of hot-bone. But it was also older, the feet more proportional to the rest of him and none of the awkward coltishness in Sansa’s limbs.
“I have found my treasure and I am talking to him,” Sansa suddenly said and Cor wanted to die all over again. Declarations of affection so boldly said were awful. Cor had absolutely no defence against it.
The embarrassment almost made him miss the other dragon’s squawk of offense.
“Treasure is treasure, especially if you’ve found it. Stop being dramatic. My treasure hasn’t hurt me at all and he is a helpless thing, always easily cold and I have to hunt for him. He’s not a monster,” Sansa said reasonably.
Embarrassment faded to outrage. He was not helpless, thank you very much. Just very unused to the weather. Eos was much more temperate and he knew what he was hunting there. Also, he couldn’t use his sword. Sansa had very much buried it under dirt and ice.
The other dragon stopped sounding so angry.
“Of course I can talk to him,” Sansa said, making Cor huff. “And yes, he can talk back and we understand each other. We shared blood. Like Aicorn the mad and his birds.”
Like Aicorn the who??? Mad? Does drinking dragon blood make one crazy?
Cor had concerns.
Both dragons suddenly turned to him and Cor wanted to be nervous but he was just. Tired. It was almost five hours since he last ate.
“My clutch-brother wants to talk to you as well,” Sansa said. “Shall I use my fangs? His teeth are uncomfortable. It is always hot.”
No, thank you. Cor had a knife.
The other dragon licked at his wound and offered Cor his own bleeding paw. Cor braced himself for the taste for the second time and gagged again.
By the Astrals, the taste was not improved with knowledge. Day old buffalo blood, somehow, more spicy this time.
“I swear, it really tastes awful,” Cor groaned. “I need to wash my mouth out.”
A distinctly male voice sounded in his head, very offended, “You don’t taste like venison either, fleshy bipedal. You taste like over-fermented lion.”
“Call me Cor,” he told the dragon. Fleshy bipedal sounded distinctly condescending said in that voice and Cor hated it.
The dragon sniffed like a crotchety old grandma. “Robb of the Stark line, eldest child of the First Clutch of the Fire Drake Catelyn and Ice Drake Eddard, Lord of the Northern Mountains and Protector of the Seven Dragon Clans of the North,”
By Bahamut’s wings, did these dragons have to announce themselves like that all the time? It must be tiring.
For the second time, though with another, older and wiser dragon, plans continued. Still treasonous. Though Cor was getting very fond of the dragons and angrier with the humans for killing dragons.
Plans solidified, and Robb, while a very stuck up and paranoid dragon, was obviously a genius strategist.
“While it pains me to suggest this, clutch-sister,” Robb eventually said slowly. “Your treasure might have to part ways with you to seek out this Regis. He has to be informed of what his sire is doing before things go beyond terrible. I will have to go with him, because how else will he convince the humans of our bloodsharing?”
“And why can’t I go?” Sansa demanded. “Do not forget that we are born only a few days apart, clutch-brother.”
“I can leave without garnering suspicion,” Robb explained. “Since sire and dam need reports and might need help. I can convince the Eldest to send me. You, however, are the only one that can control our clutch-siblings. Which you have been leaving to me while you cavort with your treasure.”
The last was said with such a dirty look that it made Cor laugh despite his exhaustion. So. Sansa was supposed to be babysitting but was instead with Cor.
“Do not laugh,” Robb said sternly, which made Cor laugh harder. “Our clutch-siblings are hatchlings. And they all three breathe fire. It is a miracle that there hasn’t been an avalanche yet.”
Okay, point.
“Don’t be sad, Sansa,” Cor said, because he did agree with Robb. “I’ll finish this as fast as we can.”
Sansa, there was no other way to say it, pouted.
“I will miss you, my treasure,” she whispered to him.
Cor blushed again.
.
.
The human encampment was exactly where Cor left it. The only difference was the multitude of dragons surrounding it.
Robb eyed it and exchanged glances with Cor.
“We might need to change our plans,” Robb said.
They couldn’t sneak in, there were too many sensitive senses watching.
“What’s happening? Can you tell?” Cor asked.
Robb sniffed long and hard, eyes on the encampment and on the very large ice drake by the very middle.
“There is no war,” Robb said. “But negotiations are not going well. Neither side understands each other. I have no idea what magic your people are using to talk, but it is not translating well.”
Cor immediately smacked his head. Of course, the king and his blood had magic. He had forgotten.
“I don’t think magic does well with dragons,” Cor said, remembering the king’s face when he tried a fire spell at one dragon. “I think you’re all immune to it.
Robb tossed his head. “And what do we do now?”
Cor, because he was regaining his old confidence, laughed. “We drop in the middle and I’ll talk. You make sure no one kills me.”
Robb eyed him. “If you die, my sister will kill me. I am not jesting. She will rip me limb from limb.” The dragon sounded nervous.
Cor smiled toothily. “I don’t die that easily.”
.
The good news was that King Mors was dead.
The bad news was that the very large ice dragon in the middle of the encampment had killed him with one ice spear and it was making negotiations…icy.
Fortunately, Cor had a reputation before he left as a prissy asshole prodigiously good with a sword. That meant the newly crowned Regis remembered him well.
Clarus pointed a sword at him, but Cor just ducked aside impatiently.
“Hey, King Regis,” Cor shouted. “Let me talk to you. You’re going about this wrong.”
A lot of the imperial soldiers tried to skewer him right then and Cor sort of forgot that he only had a knife. And no sword. Fuck.
But he had a dragon behind him.
Robb roared and when that made everyone else scrabble for weapons, the even larger ice dragon roared louder.
“No, really,” he shouted in the sudden, suspenseful silence. “I have to talk to you. I know how to talk to the dragons.”
King Regis looked more tired than anything. “Sure. We need all the help we can get. The translation spells aren’t going well since they keep slipping off.”
Cor shook his head. “Of course it won’t, the dragons are nulls. You have to bloodshare to be able to talk to one another. Though it really tastes terrible.”
Regis stared. “What?”
“Yeah, what he said,” Clarus said, sounding stunned.
Sighing, Cor explained.
.
.
Sansa sat at the ledge and stared at the horizon irritably.
It had been five days and Sansa missed her treasure. Terribly. Incredibly. It made her very being ache.
“Sansa, you’re so boring nowadays,” Arya complained.
Sansa slid down and curled around Arya, who protested. “My treasure is away. I miss him.”
Arya nudged her and nudged her until, annoyed, Sansa lunged and chased after her. Bran and Rickon, who were watching, the little rascals, joined in and climbed up her wings.
The rest of the elders watched them indulgently.
They rolled around, biting, scratching and play hunting until the hatchlings fell asleep, exhausted. Sansa returned to her ledge, sighing.
Except.
There, on the horizon, were several dragons.
And on one dragon was her treasure. Her very being just knew. That one was hers.
With a cry of happiness, Sansa launched herself off the ledge and flew towards him.
Her lovely, her precious treasure.
He launched himself at her in mid air to Robb’s alarm. But Sansa caught him. She would always catch him.
And she felt it as she held him in the cradle of her fire claws. That she was whole.

Not gonna lie, this is a bit of a filler chapter. But the NEXT chapter...that’s the one you’ve all been waiting for. Also, I’ve had “bad guy” by Billie Eilish stuck in my head for DAYS, so that’s the song playing during the runway show.
*****
A week after the job at the director’s house, Riley sank into her first-class airplane seat and immediately opened her laptop, the tan pleather chair squeaking slightly as she crossed her legs beneath her. Dimming the brightness, Riley angled her laptop so no one could see it but her. She’d been profiled plenty of times in the past while writing perfectly benevolent code. Riley certainly didn’t need anyone catching her working on something more nefarious.
If she did this right, then she’d be able to just connect her phone to whatever Louvre computer that controlled security and be free to do whatever she wanted.
If she didn’t...she’d need to brush up on her French.
Nikki dozed in the seat beside her. She’d been bouncing off the walls all morning in anticipation of getting to see Fashion Week in person after Riley had promised to go with her to as many fashion shows as they could sneak into. Nikki’s excitement was infectious. While the priority was to see the runway show of the designer whose Louvre afterparty they were crashing, before they boarded the flight, Riley found herself sifting through fashion blogs to determine which other shows she wanted to see. All couture, of course.
Across the aisle, Jill had her nose buried in an incredibly thick book Riley couldn’t see the cover of, and behind her, Cage and Desi curled together like a human pretzel as they watched a movie. They were disgustingly happy, and that made Riley happy too.
When they were somewhere over the middle of the Atlantic, Nikki awoke, grumbling, “You’re going to ruin your eyes if you stare at that screen any longer.” She was right. Riley’s vision had started to blur at the edges hours ago, and she knew she’d have a hard time focusing on things in the distance when she finally looked up. Riley saved her work and shut her laptop.
Nikki still hadn’t budged from her awkward curled position, but her eyes were open. Riley figured now was as good of a time as any to make Nikki answer her last lingering question. “So you still haven’t told me why you and your boyfriend broke up,” she probed. “You know, the one who hacks everything else.”
Nikki sighed, rolling her head to glare at Riley. “Do I have to tell you?”
“Yes.”
“Fine.” Nikki sat up. “When we met, he told me he worked for a government think tank. Really nerdy stuff, does a lot of consulting. I figured he was smart but harmless.”
“I remember.”
“That was a lie. He’s a government agent, all right. But not the nerd kind. The double-O-seven kind.”
Riley nearly choked. “A spy?” she hissed. “You dated a fucking spy?”
“Surprise.”
“How did you find out?”
“The same way he found out about me. I originally told him I was a freelance art appraiser”—not far from the truth, actually— “and the IT job was to help make ends meet. We both bought each others’ lies at first, but over time we both struggled to keep our stories straight. And then one day it all just...fell into place, I guess. We had a massive fight, and by the time the dust settled, I think we both knew there was no going back to how things were before we knew the truth.”
Riley laced her fingers through Nikki’s, conveying her empathy through touch rather than words. “What agency does he work for?”
“The Phoenix Foundation.”
“What the fuck is that?”
“It’s DXS. The name changed while you were gone.” At least Nikki couldn’t still say the P-word either. But DXS...DXS could move Christmas. If Nikki’s boyfriend told anyone about her real job, they were all in trouble. Big trouble.
“Think he’s going to come after you? Come after us?”
“I don’t know.”
Trying to lighten the mood, Riley said, “Ignoring the part where he knows you’re a criminal, it must’ve been pretty cool to date a real-life black-ops spy. I bet he knew all kinds of tricks.” The innuendo easily rolled off Riley’s tongue.
Nikki smacked her shoulder. “We were having a nice moment and you had to go and ruin it by being gross. What the fuck, dude?”
Riley rolled her eyes. “Love you too.” And she did. Despite the grudge she may or may not be holding, Riley loved her. She never stopped.
*****
They landed in Paris at night, and the Five Eyes crashed the moment they made it to their swanky, overpriced hotel room. The next day, they bounced around the city attending as many runway shows as traffic allowed. Riley didn’t understand the hubbub and overdone romanticism; Paris was just like any other major city—loud and overcrowded. And snobby. So very snobby.
On their second day in Paris, the women chose to divide and conquer. Desi, Cage, and Jill teamed up to scope out the Louvre. Riley and Nikki attended the runway show of the designer whose masterpiece they intended to steal.
As she and Nikki found their seats along the runway, Riley made a mental note of all the exits. Their seats were in the back, against a wall. Nikki hoped for a better view, but Riley liked it better this way. Sitting by a wall, she had something solid behind her and could see everyone come and go without having to turn around. Riley had always kept meticulous tabs on her surroundings—that’s what made her so good at her job—but the fear of not being able to see what’s coming was new.
She didn’t tell Nikki about it.
The blonde blended right in with the highly fashionable crowd, wearing a floor-length, gray plaid coat with hot pink lining. Nikki was completely in her element here, and sometimes Riley thought her friend would’ve been better off legitimately pursuing a career in fashion rather than letting Riley drag her into the world of shadows, secrets, and cons.
While they waited, Riley fidgeted with a button on her black blazer. Her whole outfit was the same shade of her signature color—blouse, blazer, leather leggings. But her boots were the real showstopper—thigh-high black suede with intricate gold embroidery down the entire front. Riley saw them in a window yesterday and had immediately gone inside to purchase them. The boots were outrageously expensive, but it didn’t matter. Riley Davis was already a filthy rich woman, and after this job, she’d have more money than she would ever know what to do with.
The house music quieted, and the designer—older man, favored his left leg, voice thin and raspy like a smoker—strutted down the runway, microphone in hand, welcoming the audience and beginning the show. He rambled on, ruminating over his inspiration for this collection. Nikki hung on every word. Riley tuned him out.
So this was the man who was renting out the Louvre. Riley couldn’t even imagine the amount of money and favors it took to secure such an ostentatious party venue.
What she could imagine, however, was that she’d surely be subjected to yet another one of these long-winded speeches at the afterparty tonight. On the bright side, that would buy her and her team extra time, making the job that much easier.
The show began with a sweep of the lights as the music dropped to a low, pulsing beat Riley could feel just as much as she could hear. The crowd murmured respectfully as the first model appeared wearing a shiny black gown that looked like a trash bag had been melted to her body with the excess pooling on the floor. She told Nikki as much, earning an eye roll.
The next gown was better—sheer fabric with countless thin, metallic gold vertical stripes. The skirt had pretty lines, giving the model the illusion of curves she didn’t have. After that was a strapless canary yellow ball gown with a full, pillowy train.
“I don’t understand why designers keep making yellow clothes,” Riley hissed. “No one looks good in yellow.”
“That model does.”
“No one looks good in yellow.”
Nikki twisted in her seat and glared, which Riley ignored. “Are you going to say anything nice?”
“You’d miss my commentary if I stopped.” Riley’s snide comment earned her an elbow to the ribs, but she caught Nikki’s smile all the same.
The next gown was cherry red satin, with huge ruffles on one shoulder and the opposite hip. The extra fabric was a lot, but there was something elegant about the gown nonetheless.
Leanna would look good in that one, Riley stopped herself from saying aloud. Nikki—nor anyone else, for that matter—hadn’t said another word about Leanna since Riley first asked weeks ago. Suddenly their longtime friend was taboo, and Riley didn’t want to disrupt the tentative peace she had with Nikki just to push for answers she probably wouldn’t get.
Another ugly gown, this one feathery pink with a sort of netting over top.
But the last one...the last one caught the eye of every single person in the audience.
Including Riley.
The sheer dress was covered in intricate silver beading that accentuated its long sleeves and mermaid silhouette and left little to the imagination. It was the kind of show-stopping gown one wore when they wanted to be the center of attention.
Despite the audience’s rising hum of approval, Riley still heard Nikki murmur, “That one is all you.” And it was. Riley would wear that gown in a heartbeat if she had the opportunity—too bad most jobs required her to blend in, not stand out.
She was too busy lusting after the gown to respond.
From her seat, Riley could just see into the wings, and she spotted who could only be the designer’s assistant, running the show behind the scenes. Even from a distance, Riley had a feeling the young woman’s hawk-like gaze missed absolutely nothing. The designer would be easy enough to bamboozle during the heist, but this woman could very likely become a problem.
Riley committed the assistant’s appearance to memory and set the thought aside for later.
*****
Later that afternoon, the Five Eyes reconvened in their hotel suite. They still had a couple hours until they needed to get ready for the afterparty. Since only Cage and Nikki had been there before, Desi, Cage, and Jill had spent the day scouting the Louvre. It was good for Jill to work with Desi for a change; because of her military background, Desi’s way of thinking through a job diverged greatly from everyone else’s.
Team meetings like this were one of Riley’s favorite parts of the job—swapping intel and strategizing the best way to pull off the job. Or the most fun way, which was usually also the riskiest. But tonight, the team was in unspoken agreement that they would play it safe, both because of Jill and the importance of this long-awaited job.
Piled onto one plush, king-sized bed, the five women sat tangled together as they tore through the box of pastries Riley purchased on the way back to the hotel. For the first time in forever, Riley was hungry. She avoided dwelling on that fact as she licked her fingers and picked up stray crumbs that fell on the off-white comforter.
“So, what did you learn?” Nikki quizzed Jill.
Jill pushed up her glasses with her middle finger, speaking with her mouth full. “The room the party will be in is super fancy and at the far corner of the building.” She swallowed. “First floor.”
“Good. What else?” Riley prompted. “How do Nikki or I get to security and the building’s system control?”
“There’s an employee door in the hallway…” Jill trailed off. “Wait. This is a test, isn’t it? You already know.”
Riley smirked. “I do.”
Disbelief etched Jill’s face. “How? You told me yourself that you’ve never been there!”
“I have my ways.” Riley would tell her eventually, but for now, it was more fun to lure trade secrets over Jill’s head. She reached for another buttery pastry, selecting one topped with slivered almonds.
But before Riley could continue her taunting, Desi spoke up. “There’s something you should know.” The mood plummeted into seriousness.
Riley and Nikki both raised their eyebrows. Go on.
“Nikki’s ex was at the museum.”
“Which one?” Nikki asked cautiously. Riley could hear the dread in her tone, the same dread that churned in her own stomach.
“You know which one.”
Riley swore. Nikki’s ex, the spy, was at the Louvre. “Did he see you?”
Cage answered, “We have to assume he did. And we also have to assume he recognized Desi and me as Nikki’s friends.” Riley set her pastry down, no longer hungry as the heist of her dreams started to crumble before her eyes. She refused to let that happen.
“He was with a middle-aged man who definitely had a gun tucked into his belt,” Desi said. “Based on that and his haircut, I’d say he’s probably ex-military.”
“Mac is too.” Tucking her knees to her chest, Nikki’s voice was uncharacteristically small as she spoke. Defeat wormed its way across her features. Nikki thought they couldn’t pull off the job now, Riley realized.
No way. She wouldn’t let one stupid ex-boyfriend get in the way of her dream job. And her grossly large payday.
“It’ll be fine,” Riley reassured. “He knows you’re into fashion, right?” Nikki nodded. “Then he has to assume you’re there for innocent, legitimate reasons. Innocent until proven guilty, remember? All we have to do is avoid looking suspicious, which we already do anyway. He won’t have any evidence to pin it on us besides a hunch, and even if he shares that hunch, he’ll get in trouble for not disclosing information about you and your relationship sooner.”
Jill said, “That seems overly optimistic.”
“Which one of us is the expert?” Riley snapped. Jill flinched, and the other three watched Riley warily. “Sorry,” she grumbled.
The tension only somewhat dissipated.
“Anyway,” Riley redirected. “We picked up the replicas.” She gestured to Nikki’s Balenciaga bag sitting open on a nearby chair.
“Replicas?” Riley fought the urge to sigh at Jill and her constant questions.
“What did you think we were going to do? Just take the jewelry and run like hell?”
Jill’s silence was a resounding yes.
“Pickpocketing 101. What did I tell you?”
Understanding dawned in Jill’s wide, blue eyes. “When you steal something heavy, put something else in its place.” A pause. “We’re going to replace the jewelry with fakes so no one even realizes the real set is missing.”
It was Cage’s turn to smirk. “She’s catching on.” The blonde leaned in. “So, can we see them?”
Nikki was off the bed in an instant, retrieving a package wrapped in plain brown paper from her purse. She let Cage have the honor of unwrapping it and revealing the masterfully crafted jewels.
The faux-sapphire and diamond necklace and earrings were stunning. And exact replicas of the real set. The only difference was a tiny, insignificant bump Nikki’s jeweler added to the back of each piece so they could quickly tell the difference between the replicas and the real deal.
Desi whistled. “Damn. Those are stunning.” Beside her, Cage nodded appreciatively. “You would look so hot wearing those,” Desi murmured to her girlfriend. “Wearing only those.”
Blushing furiously, Cage shoved her girlfriend off the bed.
Riley knew that if she let them, her friends would spend hours examining the jewels. Clearing her throat to get everyone’s attention, she asked, “Everyone clear on the plan?”
The four other women nodded in turn, first Desi, then Nikki, then Cage, and finally Jill.
“Good.”
“That’s it?” Jill questioned. “No team pep talk?” The other women chuckled, but Riley just rolled her eyes.
“That one,” Desi pointed at Riley, “is the wrong person to ask for a pep talk.”
Riley’s jaw dropped in mock outrage. “Hey! Speak for yourself.” Desi shrugged. Directing her attention back to Jill, “You really want a pep talk?”
Jill blinked.
“Don’t fuck this up.”

aka-indulgence · 4 years ago

Hey, this hasn’t happened in a long time. Stress headache for writing. Guess its time to write a small fluff once again,
Also with my favorite skeletons because I want multiple skeletons shhhhh it’s just pure self-indulgence without any rhyme or reason to why anything happens...
Ice cream. Cookies. Milk. Chips. Chocolate bars.
All things that you shove into your basket as you walk around the convenient store with a scowl on your face, biting your lip so you don’t scream and cause everyone around you to think you’re crazy. You’re just getting everything you think you want, to treat yourself after feeling so... so... much!
You feel your heart speed up just thinking about it and you squeeze the handles of the basket hard enough that it starts to bend.
Ugh, I just wanna go HOME, you cry in your head as you wait in line.
You’re just stopping yourself from tapping your foot restlessly when your eyes spot a surprise near the registers.
Candy cigarettes?
...
Oh what the hell.
You throw them into the basket too. You’ve never tried it, but it looks like something fun to show at home and surprise the guys.
You put up a pleasant face for the cashier (no need to make a retailer’s job even more miserable) and happily decline the plastic bag. One good thing that happened today: you remembered your reusable bag!
It’s certainly something? To cool your temper.
You walk out and you’re back to walking fast to get home as fast as possible, almost checking shoulders with people when you think the ones in front of you are walking too slow for your current mood. You see your home in the distance, thank god, and make a little sprint towards it, half-hoping a little bit of TLC once you’re there.
You peek in the window as you go to the door, and though you don’t see anyone, you shrug and attempt to bowl over the door, only to curse up a storm when you find that it’s locked, of course. After more hissing and quiet yelling at the handle that dare get in the way your angry relaxation time at home, you shuffle your keys out, haphazardly unlock the door and slip inside- slamming the door just a little harder than you should’ve and march towards the sofa.
(After throwing your jacket, your shoes and socks, and your whole bag on the floor next to the door.)
“(y/n)...?” You hear Snow’s voice from the kitchen as you throw yourself into the cushions, bouncing a bit while the contents of your bags jumped with you.
“Hey Snow,” You say while you make a “pbbbff...” noise with your lips, turning on the TV to look for... you don’t know what, just something to take your mind off things.
Just his voice cools your chest.
You take out the bag of chips and rip it clumsily, with some of the chips tumbling out of it and onto the floor. You make another exasperated noise but make no move to clean up the mess, instead choosing to shove a mouthful of chips into your mouth.
(To be honest, you’re not even properly eating the chips. Just... biting it harder than you needed to, making more of an angry mess on your crinkled shirt.)
Maybe you’re doing it to get attention, you don’t know. You just feel so “aaeghegshrg”.
Thankfully, you didn’t have to make even more of a fool out of yourself, and you see a shadow fall over you from behind.
You sigh when your frustrations simmer down at just the idea of him being there for you... you really weren’t the kind to hold onto anger for too long.
“is... something the matter...?” Snow’s gentle voice comes from behind you, soothing you even more.
You make another sigh, but you look up to him with tired eyes. “Yeah. But it’s hard to say... I’m just not in a good mood... sorry.” You apologize bashfully, feeling silly when you see the mess you’ve made. You hear Snow chuckle, his deep voice shaking your core, making you want to drown in it. The big skeleton rounds the sofa and sits beside you (where the bag isn’t), and his weight pulls you a bit towards him.
“don’t be sorry.” He smiles at you, his sockets crinkled. “is there... anything i can do...?”
Feeling his warmth right there, you start leaning into his chest. “You’re already doing plenty. Just having you here makes me sleepy.” You titter. “Uh. Not in the bad way, I just... I feel relaxed already. I think I’m just tired, I don’t wanna feel... I dunno, spiky?”
“isn’t that red’s thing?”
The new voice surprises you enough to blink your eyes open (you really were starting to doze off on Snow’s chest) and sit up. You look to the darkened hallway (as the sun was setting and the lights haven’t been turned on yet), and see a pair of white lights, until you see the blue-clad skeleton that emerges out of the shadows. It’d be a good horror movie scene if he didn’t look so.... like Sans. Relaxed grin, lazy sockets, slouching a bit, pink slippers shuffling against the floor.
“hey...” Sans starts, his eyelights darting to the chips on the floor. “my little shoulder-chip. what’s wrong?”
“she said she feels... spiky,” Snow repeats as you nibble on a big chip, letting his knuckles ghost your cheek. You don’t say a thing, so he keeps on going.
“mind if i make some space?” Sans points to the bag and you make a little nod, and Sans moves it to the coffee table and sits beside you.
“I dunno... i’ve just been feeling like... this,” You say emphatically, pointing to the chip in your hand. “I feel... like a potato. Just... I dunno... stuck? I don’t know, I just feel,” you make vague, aggressive hand gestures in the air, and slump back down. “Like that,”
Sans takes a breath to say something, but you’re all suddenly aware of the sound of a... clang?? Somewhere outside the house, a door being thrown open.... the heavy steps of feet as someone’s running towards you-
“ilikepotatoes.” Red’s voice suddenly breaks into the room, as all three of you turn your heads around to where he is in the hallway, panting and sweating a bit, his grin a bit too wide with his eyelights dilated in his sockets. He’s sweating.
“Red... how,” You breathe, “Did you even hear that?? Also why did you run here?”
“... dramatic effect?” Red shrugs as he saunters easily to the sofa. “anyways, what i’m saying is,” He says as he folds his arm on the back of the sofa behind you, “i like potatoes. in fact i jus’ love to eat ‘em.”
He bounces his brows at you. “what i’m sayin’ is, if yer a potato, i’d love to-”
“oh my god shut up red,” Sans covers his face with both of his hands, apparently blue in the face from embarassment.
“ey i’m tryna make the girl blush what’re ya-?”
“that’s so stupid i’m getting second hand embarrassment,”
“oh fuck you.”
The exchange gets a giggle out of you, and all three skeletons get a spark in their eyelights.
“Ok, so I’ve been feeling pretty... ehhh today, but this is turning things around,” You smile, looking at the dumbasses while you lean on Snow.
“that’s good to know,”
“i aim t’ please, sweetheart.”
Snow sits up a bit more, bringing you with him, and points to the plastic bag on the table. “so... what’s all that?”
“Oh,” you blush a little, feeling a bit embarrassed for all the things you’ve bought. “It was... an impulse thing. i wasn’t feeling so great, so I wanted to buy everything I wanted to eat. There’s ice cream, candy, chips, just... a bunch of snacks. Oh, I also found candy cigarettes in the store,”
“what,” Red immediately sounds behind you, his smug expression now just a baffled huh???
“the fuck’s candy cigarettes? d’ya... smoke candy ‘r some shit?” Red asks incredulously, prompting a hearty laugh from you. “aw c’mon doll i gotta know!”
“Well,” you start to explain-
“humans’re weird.” Sans says plainly, fishing out said snack from the bag.
He gives it a shake, and you see Red’s eyelights dilate at the sound.
“I mean, don’t pretend like monsters aren’t,” you say as you take the box out of Sans’ hands, “this aren’t like actual cigarettes, Red. They’re just candies that look like cigarettes, so when you put them in your mouth to eat it it looks like you’ve got a cigarette in your mouth. They also have powders inside of them you can inhale and exhale so it looks like smoke... I read kids used to love them exactly for that reason? i don’t know what they taste like,”
You took one more look at the packing and tilt your head. “Oh... it’s chocolate cigarettes, so this one’s just... milk chocolate in the shape of a cigarette,”
“c’mon open ‘em, i’ve never seen ya with a cig darlin’,” Red chuckles, a playful expression on his skull.
You take out the old-timey box and open it. Inside as about 12 “cigarettes” all wrapped in paper. The chocolate sticking out of the ends does make it look like a cigarette. You pull it out and look at the three skeletons, expectations on their faces...
And you stick it into your mouth, moving away from Snow to sit back on the couch and put on your most stereotypical “criminal look” as you put your arms on the back of the couch and fold your leg over the other.
...
“Ey...” you say with a hint of confusion, taking out the chocolate to blow nothing into the air.
“HAH-” Red barks out behind you, slapping his teeth with his bony hand with a clack, doubling over behind the sofa while his shoulders bounced erratically, wheezing as he tries to hold in his laugh.
His absolute giddiness at seeing you with a “cigarette” in your mouth only makes the rest of you giggle and chortle, unrestrained, and the cigarette almost pokes into your throat when you accidentally breathed the whole stick into your mouth.
“Pweh-” You spit out the cigarette (it still had the paper on!) and laugh when you see Red, still unable to pull himself together as he looks like he’s actually struggling to breathe. “It wasn’t that funny!” You tell him, but your own chest is shaking when you see how Red looks like he’s dying.
“i... ha, i don’t fuck’n know!” Red unfolds himself and puts a hand on his chest as he tries to control himself. “i didn’t expect ya t’ say ‘ey...’ heheh... hehahah!”
You unwrap the chocolate from its papery confines and pop it in your mouth, biting it in two so you could chew on it. You take deep breaths before you swallow to make sure you don’t choke on it.
“gimme one of those,” Red reaches over you and takes a cigarette, propping it in between his teeth. He then proceeds to take a few steps back, leaning against the wall. He closes his sockets as he takes a “hit” and makes... the weirdest shape with his mouth (like he was trying to close his ‘lips’ while he was trying to withhold a smile) and makes a pout to exaggerate him “blowing smoke out”. He then keeps that weird mouth shape as he lids his sockets (one was lower than the other what the fuck,) and you watch the edges of his grin bend upwards.
“eyyyYYyyYy.” Red says, mimicking you.
You practically end up crying from how stupid everything is (why are you even laughing? It’s not supposed to be funny!) and the four of you end up on the couch poking fun at each other while eating all the snacks you’ve bought, until eventually Snow stands up to make a real meal for the lot of you.
You forget all about your stresses for the rest of the night, and even fall asleep with a smile on your face.

Spring
High in the sky rests the glorious bright sun. It’s golden rays shine through the vibrant pink flowers blooming on every tree, emphasizing their natural beauty. Two birds playfully chase each other in between the branches, their lovely chirps in harmony with the soothing sounds of the gentle stream below—Mother Nature is simply a lady with many hidden talents.
Although the grass maintains a healthy green coat, it too is covered by fresh cherry blossom petals blown off the trees—it adds a beautiful pop to the land. Few people arrive and wander through the peaceful park. Some snap a couple of pictures on their phones, their bodies bent in odd angles to capture that perfect Instagram-worthy shot. Others silently take in the whole scenery with their eyes and save the mental image deep in their memory jar—that’s how you are enjoying today with Taishiro.
Both of you sit under a tree that is different from the others; it’s branches are abundant, and some hang charmingly over the water. A quick wind blows through the park, tugging the delicate petals until one slowly falls to the stream. Everything is serene, almost like an abstract landscape painting on display at an art museum.
Closing your eyes, you sink in deeper into Taishiro’s plump chest. A relaxed sigh escapes his lips as you enjoy your massive pillow. His large arms wrap around you like a snuggly safety belt—they are protective and warm. Your fingers affectionately glide up and down his sweater to the beat of the stream. You hum, “Everything is so beautiful.”
Taishiro leans back on the thick tree trunk and glances at you; he cheekily grins, “That’s ‘cause you’re here, darlin’. The cherry blossoms are a nice touch, though.”
You roll your eyes, “You’re such a cheesy guy, you know that?”
“Yeah, but that’s what you love ‘bout me.”
“That is very true,” you playfully tap his arm, smirking up at him. Another cherry blossom falls and lands on top of your head. Taishiro raises on hand to carefully pluck it off your hair and holds it high against the sunlight. The flower is so soft and just the right shade of pink. He thinks it’s perfect, just like you.
Taishiro shows the sakura petal to you, “Here’s a little present.”
Your heart swells, a tiny blush dusting your cheeks as you reach for the flower. You take a whiff of the sweet aroma and lean back against your living pillow. Squeezing the hero’s hand, you look up to flash him a faint smile, “Thank you.”
You never let go of the cherry blossom petal.

Summer
Far in the distance lies the vast calm sea. Ocean waves creep steadily toward the fine white sand, kissing the land hello before returning outward. Light puffy clouds float along the peaceful cerulean sky, morphing into different images at the hands of your wild imagination. It’s a fun way to pass the time and relax the mind.
You inhale the fresh, natural air—it smells like freedom. The city’s chaotic and bustling streets are an afterthought. The prying eyes of paparazzi and other media hounds are thousands of miles away from your paradise home. The avalanche stress tied with Taishiro’s hero lifestyle vanishes when the two of you step on the warm sand.
“Whatcha’ thinkin’ about, darlin’?” His voice is loud but soothing at the same time. You feel the gigantic teddy bear stand behind you. It wasn’t long until Taishiro traps you into his loving embrace, giving you a quick squeeze. Your toes wiggle into the smooth sand as a sharp wind whistles by; the waves hear it and crash against the shoreline.
“How a place like this,” you nod toward the dancing water, “somehow exists. It’s almost as if I’m dreaming—” You yelp at the slight pinch, and Taishiro roars with laughter. You crane your neck up to glare at him, “What was that for?”
“Well you’re not dreamin’, that’s for sure.” You elbow into his stomach knowing entirely well it did not phase him at all. Taishiro retaliates by hugging you harder, enjoying the delightful squeals ringing into the semi-deserted beach. Other tourists linger around, but the land is so spacious that you barely see them. It’s easy to think you two are alone with all the privacy in the world, an idea that doesn’t exist back at home—a small price to pay while being a pro hero.
In a way, Taishiro is glad this moment is not a dream. It won’t fade away once he wakes up, but will stay in his memory for a long time. Just as you calm down, a mischievous grin crosses the hero’s lips, and his grip tightens around your waist. You had a bad feeling about this and clenched his hands, “Hey…what are you doing—”
“Hold on!”
“Don’t you dare!”
Your words fall on deaf ears as he effortlessly carries you in his arms and charges toward the sea that is waiting to greet you both.

Autumn
Bright yellow lanterns glow above the narrow streets, gently swaying back and forth without a care in the world. Luscious pampas grass decorate the roofs, the creamy-white feathery plumes waving hello to everyone passing through the area. A chubby hand reaches upward; the baby is determined to grab the mesmerizing fluffy grass until something else catches their eye.
An elegant pyramid of tsukimi dango neatly sits on a black plate. There are fifteen white dumplings, each perfectly round and white as the precious moon gleaming tonight. A crowd grows around the delicious display, making it nearly impossible to squeeze through the sardine bodies. Fortunately, the group departs when they see Fatgum approaching with his hearty smile, and you follow closely behind—sometimes being a hero has its perks.
Taishiro greets everyone until a middle-aged man freaks out from his stall, “It’s an honor to meet you, Fatgum! Thank you for keeping our streets safe!”
“It’s no problem really—”
“Please take these dumplings! They’re on the house!”
Taishiro gives you a side-glance, and you shrug. Who were you to deny some free food, especially if they are those moon-like dumplings? You grab the plate from the man’s trembling hands and bow. The hero safely guides you away from the crowd and spots an empty grass field. Plopping down, you dramatically groan, “That was so much walking!”
“Sorry, darlin’! Guess I got a lil carried away,” he chuckles while scratching his forehead. Taishiro takes a seat behind you.
“I think that’s an understatement, but,” you gleefully raise the plate that barely reached his eyes, “we got free dumplings!”
“They do look good,” Taishiro hums and takes one round treat. You plop the tsukimi dango in your mouth, the rice flavor surprisingly strong, yet pleasing to your tastebuds—it’s a chewy delight. The pyramid crumbles in seconds, and you scoot back to rest your head against the gentle giant; out of instinct, he cradles you in his arms.
A chilly air blows by and makes you shiver despite wearing a cashmere sweater. Taishiro notices and shifts his posture to shield you from the cold—a small act that melts your heart every time. You gaze at the luminous moon until your eyes struggle to stay awake; it doesn’t help that Taishiro feels like all toasty like a fleece blanket.
It definitely was all that walking, and you yawn before dozing off in his arms.

Winter
Snow showers rain down on your quiet neighborhood. The bare tree branches scoff at the fluffy cotton balls falling from the sky; they barely weighed more than a feather. An hour later, the branches are slouching under the heavyweight and weeping for mercy—but the snow never stops.
A thin white blanket hides the dull, gray streets and vibrant decorations flourish to their heart’s content. Tiny bells chime once Jack Frost blows a chilly wind down the sidewalks. Thick garlands covered in elegant ribbons stretch for miles on some apartment balconies. And others hung colorful Christmas lights that flicker to a very jolly tune.
In a way, the snow ties everything together to bring out the pleasant holiday mood—it’s simply magical. Two pairs of footsteps, one small like a mouse and the other the size of a giant, imprint themselves on the powdery sidewalk. You waddle toward the apartment with arms bundled around yourself; you’re craving for something warm. Any minute longer outside and your legs will permanently turn into icicles.
“O-open t-the do-or, p-please,” you chatter through your teeth while bouncing nonstop. Taishiro chuckles and you glare at him, making his grin widen more. You barge in once he unlocks the door and dust off the snow on your coat. Hasty footsteps rush to the kitchen so you could warm the teapot as quickly as possible.
Taishiro shakes his head—you quickly get cold. He relaxes on the couch, not bothering to change out of his Santa costume; if anything, the clothes are comfortable and roomy. You wander into the living room and shiver up a storm. A gloved hand beckons for you, “Come over here, darlin’.”
Shuffling toward the mellow hero, he pulls you on top of him. Without hesitation, his arm wraps around you to keep you steady. One ear sits above his chest, and you focus on the faint sound of his heartbeat. Not even the Santa costume could mask Taishiro’s alluring honeydew scent, which drives you crazy. You contently sigh, “You made so many kids smile today, hun.”
“I’m glad,” he answers while stroking your hair, “Those kids at the hospital deserve all the happiness in the world, ya’ know?”
“Yeah…” A finger lazily draws out imaginary lines along Taishiro’s red velvet coat. An involuntary shiver runs down his spine. Only your charming touches could make him react like this, and he savors them all. You raise your head and squirm closer to the hero’s face. With loving eyes, you whisper, “You make a fantastic Santa Claus.”
