At the end of August, 2015 I spent 48 hours in Richmond, VA on what was to be an epic #StreetArtSpringBreakRoadTrip. One of the pieces of #StreetArtOnThisDate I caught was this #Roa piece that may or may not have a little bit of 🇺🇸symbolism intertwined 😉 I’m going to post a bunch of artwork over next few days and many, if not all of them, will not be as politically charged as this one but in a city like Richmond, all non-confederate “monuments” are in a way political. For those that do not know, Richmond was the capital of the confederate and is still home to many, many, statues and monuments. The @richmondmuralproject1 and @artwhino were responsible for dozens of artworks, or new monuments, going up in the city! #StreetArtOnThisDate! In 2015 I was invited by the @brooklynmuseum to attend @faileart’s #SavageSacredYoungMinds exhibit in an #EmptyBrooklynMuseum! Myself and a small handful of people, including my longtime homie and the photographer of this flick @shtexclamation, got to tour the museum for a few hours before it was open to the public! Looking back at my pics today I’m seeing that I shot almost everything on my iPhone because I wasn’t comfortable using my better camera indoors. I’m still not an expert at indoor art photography but I know now to always shoot with the good camera and the phone! This is one of the salvaged #SonyA6000 pics from that day, a #SomeoneElsie inside the #DeluxxFluxx area of the exhibit! #StreetArtOnThisDate! On May 7th 2013 I had recently been fired from my brewery job and was finding my way into the art world. I already knew I was moving to Brooklyn in the fall but I was still unsure as to what the hell I would do in art (not much difference from 7 years later 😭). At that point I decided I would say yes to anything art related and that included kicking it with and driving @layqanunayawar around the @haverfordedu campus while he painted this mural for @rjrushmore and the college! It was one or my first hang out and watch paint dry experiences and I remember it like it was yesterday!
