Nana used to send these old, extremely aggressive greeting cards to us. They always featured this little strawberry girl looking really angry all the time. What did she mean by this?
Watercolour is REALLY tough to recreate digitally but I think I’m getting there!
You can buy this design on t-shirts, mugs, prints, and plenty of other cool stuff here on Redbubble:
Special thanks to @clericofmadness for the prompt!
You can find the full-res version as well as more drawings like it at the link below:

Strawberry Shortcake - Lord of The Marshmallows
Ok, this was weird enough to work.

Image ID: Two glitter texts, reading as "NIGHTMARE FACTORY – DEVLOG 0". End image ID.
Hi, I'm Garça Visconde Mirigis, and I'm VERY happy to announce that this post you're reading is the first devlog ever for my nightmare game, a 3D platformer parody of mascot horror genre! And yes, nightmare, not dream game, because making my actual dream game is way out of my current abilities at the moment!
Ever thought to yourself how different a horror game would be if our protagonist decided to help the monsters instead of... [reading a list off-screen] killing, imprisioning, sacrificing, exorcizing or even banning them to other dimensions? Because I have, for ungodly amounts of time, and after literally years I decided that the time to actually make this thing has come. Welcome to the NIGHTMARE FACTORY!
OKAY BUT WHAT IS THE SYNOPSIS?
As previously mentioned, NIGHTMARE FACTORY is a parody of mascot horror games, set in an abandoned toy factory that also used to host a theme park. You play as Vera Torres, a 57 year-old mechanic who used to work in there. One day, our dear Vera receives a call from an old coworker: The higher-ups are going to sell the factory and the theme park, but they need a good inspection, and no one is accepting the offer! Feeling a bit nostalgic and wanting to help her friend, Vera decided to help take a look inside...
... Only to discover the place is now filled with strange monsters whose leader has, somehow, decided that she's actually his mother?! But she only had one kid ever in her life...?
Yeah, Vera is CONFUSED, and it's now your duty as the player to help her figure out just what the heck is going on!
... AND WHAT THE HECK IS THE GAME ACTUALLY ABOUT?
The game is a lighthearted and pink look at mascot horror as a whole, featuring little references to other games and lots and lots of silly jokes. It is also a long love letter for the genre, because as much as I like poking fun at FNaF, it did change my life for the better and it will forever have a soft spot in my heart. I love the franchise despite it all, and making a whole game just to poke fun at it and other similar games feels stupid. No one can create a good parody if they don't love the thing they're parodying even a tiny little bit.
NIGHTMARE FACTORY is not an "aha look at how stupid this is" look at mascot horror. I want it to be as sincere as possible, and the end product needs to be honest and not ironic in the slightest in order for it to be a success.
HOWEEEVEEEER. Despite the silliness, NIGHTMARE FACTORY can and will feature grapphic imagery and disturbing content due to its nature as a horror title. Trigger and content warnings have not been currently set, but shall be added as development continues.
WHAT ARE THE ~ INSPIRATIONS ~ ?
HEHEHE. HAHAHHAA. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. MY FAVORITE PART!
The gameplay is inspired by the original Crash Bandicoot trilogy, Pac-Man World 1-2 and Rayman 2! These are my favorite platformers ever and I played them for hours as a kid, and since NIGHTMARE FACTORY is all about toys and childhood I figured it would be the perfect fit!
For themes and story, NIGHTMARE FACTORY is inspired by Five Nights at Freddy's, Bendy and the Ink Machine/Bendy and the Dark Revival, Tattletail, Poppy Playtime, Silent Hill 1-4, Welcome Home, My Friendly Neighborhood and the Lacey series on YouTube! Some of the themes include loss of childhood, the horrors of motherhood and girlhood, corporate corruption, trauma recovery, grief and rage.
For visuals, however? Alice: Madness Returns, Hello Kitty Roller Rescue, Strawberry Shortcake: The Sweet Dreams Game, Disney Princess' Enchanted Journey and old dress-up flash games are my references!
THE SETTING
The game is set in 2020s São Paulo, Brazil, AKA where I live, and it can and will feature elements of brazilian culture. The final version should have both english and brazilian-portuguese translations, with cultural notes being featured to help non-brazilians understand some jokes and themes better.
CURRENT SITUATION
NIGHTMARE FACTORY is currently sitting at "the single gamedev is desperate to start programming but he's busy with uni work" stage of production, but do not worry, the single gamedev is also working on the story, how level progression shall go, how the game should feel to play, and, of course, planning the mechanics, AKA the most important part of a fun game. I'll make an entire devlog detailing every single main mechanic as soon as I'm able to finally start fully working on this!
NIGHTMARE FACTORY is being made with Godot, Blender and Krita, and it will be released first for PC.
NOW A LOOK AT HOW THE SINGLE GAMEDEV IS ALREADY ANXIOUS ABOUT MAKING THE GAME
It wouldn't be a project I made without me losing my mind about it from day 0!
Nightmare Factory is a 3D platformer game, with around ~30 levels planned, divided into 5 acts/chapters/arcs/sessions. You can think as these sets of levels as Crash Bandicoot's Warped level selection, like this!
After answering some asks relating to mascot horror as a genre, I remembered a conversation I had with my amazing partner some weeks ago about how I want to release NIGHTMARE FACTORY. YES, I didn't even start programming it, but this is the type of thing I need to settle on before I build a good chunk of the game. It will be important!
But then. There's the problem: I don't like it when games are "released" but you have to pay more to get all of them. Yeah, each chapter would be super cheap so they would have a full game price when combined, but also. Do I want to do this. Do I genuinely want to do this. Like? Am I sure this is the right way to do it?????
Image ID: Screenshot of Crash Warped for the PS1, with Crash standing in front of a warp room with 5 blue buttons on the floor, each marked with a number from 1 to 5. The 6th button has the face of Tiny Tiger, signaling it to be the entrance to a boss fight level. End image id.
My first plan was to release each act separately so I could both get feedback and also have more fun, because by getting feedback I would be way less worried about messing things up + I could update things like character physics to be less wonky or more stiff in case it was a common complaint, which could change the entire level design. And also because I'm a clown and I want to make a mascot horror parody, and releasing it in chapters aligns perfectly with how I want this to go.
Anyways, this has now lead to me deciding that the game should be a "pay for it once" type of thing. I'll still release it in chapters, but the updates will be for free. Will I regret this decision because liking it or not I need money + I am an indie dev + there's nothing wrong with game devs expecting to be, y'know, PAID for their work? Absolutely so!!!!! But I think that, for now, this will be how I develop this silly game.
Anyways, this is getting long enough, so I'll finish it for now. Character introductions will be made after the gameplay-focused devlog, so see you guys soon enough! Byeeee <3

Darling Dollz on youtube did a video on Strawberry Shortcake, which prompted me to brainstorm a SS reboot.
My conclusion was they should make Strawberry a magical girl/witch going to an academy where they learn to bake magical treats. Magical school is a typical, trope-y setting but you would mix it up because all the spells have to be food, + I think all the animals in the world would be a combination of animal and a food item. Hence why strawberry gets her pink cat as a flying fairy familiar.
The ideas also perfect for a toyline because you could directly compete with all the other "school" lines (MH, RH, blah blah), but have a totally different gimmick and style by leaning in to the 1980s poofy, cottagecore dresses AND also having the gimmick of having scented dolls + cute animal sidekicks, magic potions and so on.
I would propose Strawberry is similar in personality to Jenny Nicholson's headcanon for Applejack that she brainstormed in a video a few years ago. She's from the country, a farmer, but when she discovers she's a witch (by baking a magical strawberry shortcake that does something wacky like make her grandma float into the sky) she has to go to the magic school. There, she can meet other typical kid tropes turned into food and she also pretends not to be a farmer because she's embarrassed about it. Magical schools are also great for having kids of many different backgrounds and you could use it as an opportunity to show off foods from different cultures.
Episode ideas:
-someone bakes a cake that turns into a monster (ez)
-a monster attacks and they need to bake like a magic blueberry pie to defeat it but they dont have any blueberries so they make something else and somehow befriend the monster
-episode that is solved when classmates combine two seemingly contradictory flavors (obvious metaphor about sharing cultures)
-characters try to gift a magic troll new foods but hes very picky and keeps getting upset; finally they talk to the troll and realize he would just prefer to eat gravel and thats okay (this is about how people should be less pushy and annoying at picky eaters)
-theres a baking competition headed by the evil substitute teacher that causes rifts in the school (its just a parody of the show Chopped)
-an evil witch turns the entire school into chocolate and wild animals start eating it. i dont know where this one goes it just sounds fun
-a season finale where magic is disappearing and all the little fruit animals are turning back into fruit (very sad) and the kids go on an adventure to fix it.
Anyways I will take no notes on this concept, it is perfect and they should hire me to make it.

Speaking of Strawberry Shortcake, my Dad showed me like the American Mcgee’s Alice parody where someone drew American Mcgee’s Strawberry Shortcake. Which I guess was supposed to make a point about getting your childhood “ruined” or something. But I think I was likely kind of weird because I honestly don’t think darker, edgier versions of “feminine” things really made me feel any blow to my childhood memories.
That, or in a post FiM fandom, post Madoka Magica, post oddball indie pop artist world, one could make an argument that not only does “messed up” girliness just kind of exist as its own thing now, but in some ways it was my childhood.
#tabby says something#in any case I don’t think plum pudding would be my first choice for strawberry shortcake D/s#nsft#ish#for the tags

Robot Chicken #70: “P.S. Yes, in That Way” | January 11, 2009 - 11:30PM | S04E06
Whatsup dick head. Time to talk about An episode of a TV Show called Robot Chicken that I’m forcing myself to watch because I implied I would in the description for this blog. I of course am going to pick and choose what sketches to talk about so I can get this done quicker.
Okay things I hated first, because I think it’s nice to end things on a positive note: They did a sketch about Billy Dee Williams which–you guessed it–further dissects lore from the Star Wars films. Robot Chicken, can’t you just isolate Star Wars stuff to your awful Star Wars specials? Fuck you, dude (you can tell this show is a DUDE!!!!).
The Strawberry Shortcake sketch really bothered me. It diligently follows the trope of most of their sketches about kid-friendly shows from the 80s; a typical problem arises and they solve it by doing something violent, which would be out-of-character for this show. That premise is as tired as another trope: just having a sketch all be jerks. Like, when everyone in the sketch is just a jerk who acts like a jerk to the other jerks in the sketch it feels so hollow. It’s like ersatz subversiveness. “Ersatz subversiveness”, wow that’s really smart-sounding of me to say. Wow. I have done it again. Anyway, sketches like this illustrate why I (mostly) hate Robot Chicken.
There’s a sketch I didn’t like that much where they make fun of writer Doug Goldstein for spending $12,000 on a timeshare. I dislike a lot of these guys on a visceral level but will fight to the death for their right to make navel-gazing sketches about themselves. It’s a time-honored sketch comedy tradition. Anyway, I thought this one was sorta interesting but I didn’t laugh. I hate hearing Brecken Meyer’s voice on this show.
Okay, so one of the sketches I liked the most was the Back to the Future thing. The most charitable thing I can say about a “good” Robot Chicken sketch is that it feels like something that might be riffed out on Cum Town. I also liked the sketch parodying Harry and the Hendersons and the bigfoot makes the family watch him beat off before going into the woods. I guess I like masturbation. Speaking of, I need to go, uh, do something. Now.

Okay, time for some toy OCS! Since Huggy Wuggy is based on a sour pouch candy, Mommy Long Legs is based on Betty Spaghetti, and the Smiling Critters based on a combination of My Little Pony, Care Bears, and Strawberry Shortcake, I want these toy OCs to be based on my favorite video game series, The Legend of Zelda. It's called The Magical Tales of Cassidy!
You see, a famous gaming company called Wadinta, which is kind of a very loose parody of Nintendo, has called Playtime Co. in hopes they can make toys of the characters from their game so that Wadinta can promote their game. Playtime Co. agreed with it, and once the toys of the video game are made and put in stores, kids are buying and playing these toys, although The Magical Tales of Cassidy toys are not as popular as Poppy, Huggy, Mommy, and all of the other toys to be mascots of Playtime Co.
The Magical Tales of Cassidy is about a wandering traveler named Everett, who is based on Link, on a quest to stop an evil mage named Draven, who is slightly based on Ganon, mostly from the Zelda cartoon, wanting to take over the land of Nyleria, based on Hyrule, I had a very difficult time trying to think of a made-up magical land to be based on Hyrule, and to rescue Princess Cassidy, who is based on Princess Zelda, who contacted Everett through a linked telepathy. The game was released back in 1985, and the kids loved the game, and the toy products of The Magical Tales of Cassidy were made in 1986.
And now here are the characters of The Magical Tales of Cassidy.
Everett is a wandering traveler who is destined to save the land of Nyleria from an evil mage requested by Princess Cassidy via telepathy.
Cassidy is the princess of the Kingdom of Nyleria who has mystical powers since birth, but is being held hostage by her former mage, Draven, and communicates with Everett through telepathy, trusting him to save Nyleria from Draven.
Draven was a former mage of Princess Cassidy in the Kingdom of Nyleria, but has consume the darkness in his heart and wants to take over Nyleria with the palm of his hand.
These three characters are to be used for plays to enact the scenes from The Magical Tales of Cassidy at the upcoming Playtime Amusement Park (It's just a prototype, and no I don't mean The Prototype, and it depends if the setting will be in Poppy Playtime Chapter 4, but I doubt it), however, the characters will be the Bigger Bodies of three kids that were experimented on by The Doctor.

The Problem with deconstructing the Powerpuff Girls
The Powerpuff Girls is already a subversive show.
It’s a pastiche of superhero comics that keeps the action and violence of Marvel and DC properties and attributes it to cutesy little girls.
In essense, it’s already a parody. It’s already a subversive take on existing tropes. And like, even without a serialized story, it’s surprisingly smart in how it handles all of these older tropes.
So before the writers of the Live Action Script decided that Professor Utonium should actually be a showbizzy bad dad, they should of probably asked themselves... did the original show already do this?
Cause like... they did.
The character of Dick Hardly, from the episode Knock it Off was designed as a foil to Professor Utonium who creates shoddy knock off Powerpuff Girls that he sells to cities across the world for profit. He’s one of the most despicable characters ever animated in the show, and the character of Drake Utonium has way more in common with him than he does that actual professor.
And it’s episodes like this that every other reboot of the show seems to forget.
The Powerpuff Girls isn’t Strawberry Shortcake or My Little Pony. It’s not a show created to sell dolls or produce merch.
It’s a parody, a deconstruction, a Robot Chicken sketch before Robot Chicken was a thing. And that’s a compliment. It’s subversive humour is influential... the Powerpuff Girls walked so that shows like Kids Next Door, Kim Possible, My Life as a Teenage Robot, and almost every other cartoon after it could run.
It’s a smart show with a surprising understanding of satire. Which unfortunately also means any parody of the show is going to be redundant. It’s kinda hard to make fun of a show that’s already so good at making fun of itself.
And like, I’m saying this as someone who is actively working on a dark humour tinged dark comedy heavily inspired by the Powerpuff Girls. Everytime I write, I find myself making jokes the original show already made. Sometimes I’ll accidentally steal entire scenes because I think I’m being subversive.
The big thing is... I’m pretty sure it’s still possible to make a subversive take on the Powerpuff Girls. As smart as the show is, it’s also kinda dated and stuck in the late 90s and early 2000s. Superheroes have evolved and there’s a lot more material the Powerpuff Girls could actively spoof.
Maybe the show should get a Samurai Jack styled soft reboot. Stay true to the original show, but show how time has passed. Give the show a TV-PG-V rating and the same kind of overarching plot you get with shows like Infinity Train or Gravity Falls.
But to any potential writer writing for this franchise, please, please, please do your research. You can’t pull a Riverdale with the Powerpuff Girls, because the girls we’re never as wholesome as Archie and the gang.

There is no way Matt Reeves thinks The Batman is anyway "grounded" or "realistic".
Gotham is way too stylized; all at once the 30s, the 90s, and the modern-day. The gangsters featured are caricatures. And Robert Pattinson's Batman is tormented in the most "I shop at hot topic and have an angsty myspace page" kinda way.
I enjoyed this movie mostly because it's the first time I've seen a Batman movie actually understand that it's, well, a Batman Movie.
This isn't a grounded political thriller with the aesthetics of Batman thrown on like the Nolan Movies. It's not a pointlessly dark and complicated take on comic book lore like the Snyder Movies, and it's definitely not a character exploration of mental illness like the Joker.
Instead, it's a heavily stylized action movie with cartoonish doses of FIlm Noir. Batman's violent and angsty, but no more than I think you'd expect from a comic book anti-hero. And given the ending, I'd also argue that this Batman is probably one of the nicer incarnations of the character we've seen in recent years. He's flawed and kind of bad at his job, but that just makes him all the more relatable.
Not everything aesthetically dark is deconstructive, and not everything that's violent is realistic. The Batman is probably one of the purest comic book adaptions I've seen in recent years, and frankly, people who think movies like this are in any way realistic have a very skewed perception of reality. The

Thoughts on Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers (2022)
I nervously stand up to the mic, prepared to exclaim to my audience of dozens a controversial fact. I'm shaking. I'm sweating.
I clear my throat. Words drop from my mouth like wet clay.
"The Chip n Dale reboot is pretty great, actually."
Okay, it's not perfect. It's a solid 7 or 8 out of 10. It's delightful, hilarious, and super creative. It's not nearly as good as Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but it's also probably the closest thing to a sequel we'll ever get. And I'm kind of okay with that.
I'll get to the good stuff soon enough, but first let's talk about the bad.
This movie is the same kinda metahumour drenched post-shrek styled Children's movie, and like, that's not everybody's thing. It's pretty light on fart jokes, but it is pretty heavy on breaking the fourth wall and having celebrity cameos and making jokes about Pop Culture.
That said, it's a little closer in tone to something like, say, Enchanted or the original live action Scooby-doo movies than it is to Alvin and the Chipmunks. If you enjoy a post Modern Disney Princess or a postmodern Mystery Inc, then this movie works fine. But if you're not open to movies that make jokes about other movies… then maybe stay away from this one.
A slightly bigger issue is the usage of cel shading on most of the Rescue Rangers. It's not nearly as bad as the trailers showed them to be, and in stills, they could almost be mistaken for drawings. But in motion… it really doesn't work. 2D animation just happens to be a better medium for expressive faces and body movement, and as good as the celshaded animation is, it's kinda hard to escape the feeling that it was still, ultimately, the wrong choice.
But I think maybe the biggest issue I had with this movie is the lack of the attention given to the other Rescue Rangers. Montery Jack has a fun scene early on that almost makes you wanna go back to the old show. Gadget and Zipper also make appearances and even have a few good jokes… but for most of the run time… they're just… not there.
Also, Monty's recasting feels weirdly redundant? Jim Cummings appears quote a few times as other characters and Eric Bana's role is so short and so similar to Jim Cumming's voice, I can't help but wonder why they bothered recasting him at all.
But with all that negativity aside, let's go on to why I actually enjoyed the movie.
This is a pretty good take on Chip n Dale as characters… its true to their personalities of the show, but with a Ducktales-esque revamp of their voices. And while they don't start the show out as detectives, they basically become their characters from the show anyways.
Even the other Rescue Rangers feel true to their original incarnations, with maybe a few odd new takes. There's a twist with Gadget and Zipper that's a little questionable at first, but downright hilarious when it came back up towards the end.
Outside of the cel shading, the animations actually pretty great. CGI can't replace 2D animation, but I do have yo give them props for so faithfully mimicking both stop motion and puppetry so accurately. There's a Swedish chef parody who's so close to the Muppet style, I initially thought he was just a straight up puppet.
The movie's biggest strength is actually the diversity of animation styles used. It's not just 2D and 3D… it's everything. Of course the cameos all stay faithful to their original sources, but even the original characters look like they could come from other actual properties.
Off the top of my head, we get cheaply animated insurance mascots with plastic textures occupying scenes with Aardman sheep. Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast shares a scene with Tigra from the 90s Avengers cartoon. And without spring too much, I'm obsessed with a specific scene where photo realistic Disney CGI interacts directly with characters from a certain rival studio.
You could argue that this movie is Disney shamelessly shilling their own IP, and to some extent, that's true. But the sheer number of non Disney cameos really cements this film as a spiritual sequel to who Framed Roger Rabbit. Hell, one of the best cameos in this film doesn't come from Disney IP at all.
The Roger Rabbit influence also shows itself in how weirdly dark this movie can get. It's nothing inappropriate for kids… but like… there's body horror. Cartoon body horror, sure, but it's made with the same stuff that made the scariest Disney scenes we watched as children. It's a weirdly Nostalgic kind of horror, and I'm happy we get to traumatized my little brother the same way I was when I first watched Roger Rabbit.
All n' all, I really liked this one. It's a fun watch.

Peppermint fizz from the strawberry shortcake wizard of oz parody “Berry Brick Road”
Boq from Wicked the musical:
Nick from the black brick road of oz:
The tin man and his human counterpart hickory from the 1939 movie:
Nick from the woodsman:
Nick chopper and his human form from the wonderful wizard of oz (original novel) by L Frank Baum
