The Ultimate Checklist for Opening a Successful Restaurant
Opening a restaurant is an exciting journey, but it requires meticulous planning, execution, and management to succeed. Whether you’re a first-time restaurateur or an experienced operator, this checklist will guide you through every step of the process and help you avoid common pitfalls.
1. Define Your Concept and Vision
Your restaurant’s concept sets the foundation for everything else.
Decide on a clear theme: casual dining, fine dining, food truck, or fast casual.
Choose a cuisine that aligns with your target audience.
Craft a unique value proposition (e.g., farm-to-table ingredients or fusion dishes). Pro Tip: Research market trends to ensure your concept aligns with local demand.
2. Conduct Market Research
Understanding your audience and competition is essential.
Identify your target market (age, preferences, and spending habits).
Analyze competitors: What are they doing right? Where can you differentiate?
Survey potential customers to gauge interest and refine your idea.
3. Create a Solid Business Plan
A well-thought-out business plan is crucial for securing funding and staying on track.
Outline your concept, target audience, and unique selling points.
Include financial projections, start-up costs, and revenue goals.
Detail your marketing and operational strategies.
4. Choose the Perfect Location
The success of your restaurant largely depends on its location.
Look for high foot traffic areas with ample parking.
Ensure the space meets zoning and legal requirements.
Consider factors like visibility, accessibility, and nearby competition.
5. Secure Permits and Licenses
Navigating legal requirements is a critical step.
Obtain health permits, liquor licenses, and business registrations.
Research local regulations for fire safety, waste disposal, and zoning.
Keep all paperwork organized to avoid delays in opening.
6. Design Your Menu
Your menu is the heart of your restaurant.
Craft a menu that balances creativity and profitability.
Use seasonal and local ingredients to stand out.

Yeah so I can't place the order to our main vendor because the straunt hasn't paid them in three months. Which I'm sure could mean nothing.

78. Plenty of Kills in the Sea
After a long time of waiting, Aureolin plushie has finally shipped and is already in my state.
I will scream
0 updates on plush irratino though, even though I ordered him a month before...
goat lord I need you I'm not in a good space T-T
Boss Charcoal, pretty basic design but I thought making him a beefy mouse would be funny. He looks a lot less cursed than I imagined imo. Not sure what the shirt is supposed to be though... Anyway, Charcoal tries so painfully hard to be 'tough' and 'manly' that he literally starts crying every time he speaks. Someone help this poor man
DON'T READ THE EPISODES UNTIL YOU'VE FINISHED THE FIRST BOOK!!
Logi goes to a sushi restaurant that’s on the shore. Classy! Irratino would love it.
LOGICO: NOOOOOOO! DONUT THINK ABOUT IRRATINO.
At the ‘straunt, there are Celadon, Silverton, Rose (who has taken to cheating in chess! For shame), some new beef guy named ‘Boss Charcoal’, and a dead sushi chef.
CHARCOAL: I’m tough. [sniff] I really am!!
All right. Silverton is delighting in whiskey, and his good friend Grandmaster Rose would love to join him.
CHARCOAL: I’m so tough, I have a dead fish with me always! LOGICO: All RIGHT, no one even said anything. ROSE: Don’t neglect your theory: Secretary Celadon brought an award. LOGICO: What theory? ROSE: The theory… of playing you, in chess! LOGICO: [facepalm]
He repeatedly sits down in a little chair over and over until he ‘accidentally’ butt-dials Irratino.
IRRATINO: I’ve been looking at the stars above us, Logico. Th-through the sunroof. And they tell me that the chess player was near a classic car. Hah. [snort] Classic car. Ahh <3
Logico wobbles. He shouldn’t keep calling. No no no, it was an ACCIDENT, he never would call that stupid boy on purpose, ahahaha.
IRRATINO: Call me :3 LOGICO: FUCK.
Logico solves the murdle!
CHARCOAL: I… I’m tough, okay! I’m really [cry] Really tough! LOGICO: There there. Maybe, try push-ups or boxing lessons or… something. Don’t murder some poor chef.
Silverton then breaks a glass on Rose’s head, just because he can.
CELADON: Why am I even here. [flies away]
The end!
Ah well
MOCHI LOAFGICO JUMPSCARE
The power of Goat Lord compels you!
See you next time murdlers!

@shebloom ( nathaniel )
neek wasn’t really a beer and snack type of individual although he had no issue with such arrangements , his experience of being a man was limited by his constant ability to pick fault in others . ever since nathaniel had helped him out back in february with his new ‘straunt for the homeless in the flower district , neek had simply considered him a friend by extension and after flying back into los angeles , he had arranged a catch up . the curly haired man barely knew a thing about drama , classed tabloits and gossip bloggers as invasive species who wanted to leech onto your brain and unless he heard something from actual , real life , whispers , he was in the dark . he holds the beer in one of the newly opened uptown microbars boasting the authenticity of a full bar in a much cosier space , “ i feel like every time i leave then i return to a whole new world ... “ he pauses , a look through brown eyes , “ not in a positive way , “ for clarification . it seemed that a lot had changed .
#i jst think this is funny bc they r both obsessed with lily#i've literally been thinking abt this since the met gala

PLOT DROP 7: LAND HO
On the Earth equivalent of July 10, 2022, the Prosperity docks on the outpost planet Waurdrun in the town of Marnch. The other two towns are an hour’s drive away each.
The ship expects to dock here for two nights, as the planet Molfaun is a four day’s flight away. The goal is to confirm that the ship is in good working order before docking on Molfaun due to the other planet’s reported lack of good mechanical supplies and expertise. Waurdrun is a marshy planet, but not as watery as Molfaun.
Waurdrun has three Outpost towns:
Marnch
Population ~60,000
Mostly Ly’Daesun and Laykul, with some Erkuss and Carreki
Smuggler town - This is the one where people go to trade on the planet
Wild west themed. Someone saw a bunch of old Westerns and forced the zoning to resemble this.
The Kurrk Buffet featuring food from part of Kurrk. It is the best-acclaimed restaurant on the planet
“Authentic” Laykul cuisine at the Shellfish Saloon. The restaurant is Ly’Daesun owned and operated, which is considered concerning because this species doesn’t eat. Why is this place still around? The owners are really good smuggling business people.
A cool arcade (Pinball Blapnak’s) with vintage games
Dinner theater that really likes to show murder mystery plays like The Mouse Trap by Agatha Christie every three days. On off days it’s got open mic nights. (We’re here on open mic night)
Public lake that can be used for recreation, fishing, swimming, and non-motored sailing
Computer store called “Snapple Store”. The owners are clearly trying to evoke another technology brand, even though they buy & sell products from a variety of Earth and space manufacturers. They also sell Snapple and other drinks. It’s supposed to be cute and cheeky, I guess, but sometimes the drinks spill on the products.
Deek
Population ~20,000
Mostly Ly’Daesun and Laykul, with some Carreki
Ranching town - this is the physically largest town even though it has the smallest population
There is a Laykul-owned bakery (Seaweed Bakes) that specializes in very, very salty cookies.
Look, a Book Book Book is a bookstore that stocks waterproof books.
Groovy Smoothie Movies - a little theater that serves smoothies and smoothie bowls and shows movies.
Straunt
Population ~32,000
Mostly Ly’Daesun, with some Erkuss. Minimal Laykul
Mining and manufacturing town - They make a lot of textiles and some pharmaceuticals
They have a water restaurant serving different imported types of water - the establishment is targeted at Ly’Daesun. Shipping water is very expensive, so this is kind of a frivolous endeavor, but hipster Ly’Daesun sometimes think this is exciting.
Research base for studying the fauna of Waurdrun (they have a lot of interesting furry pig-like creatures on this planet)
Talko, a Taco restaurant... that is (unfortunately) inspired by Swedish tacos
As for Molfaun, some more information has emerged. Prosperity is not the only ship bringing goods to Molfaun. Steel Spider, Qraxoldov, and Tyrannosaurus Pecs have either reached the planet already or are approaching. Qraxoldov has reportedly been on Molfaun for weeks now, and is still there. The Tyrannosaurus Pecs crew is on Waurdrun at present. It is becoming clear that Prosperity will be received as visitors of Her Imperial Majesty Oglavia Den Troz, Empress of Soulf. It is clear that Oglavia is the one that pushed for Molfaun’s recent admission into the Galactic Union, and both of the Dyiad representatives to the Galactic Union. come from Soulf.
There is also some new information about the species “Laykul,” the name for the species favored by Soulf.
Please feel free to ask the admin if you want to interrogate/ask any locals or the Tyrannosaurs Pecs crew or anyone else! A group message chat will also be opened, but feel free to initiate or request in-person threads for some or all of the group. This is also a relatively good opportunity to call home now that communications are stable again.

Anyway, I'm sitting at the Oxford. I've had three bevvies over the course of... 3 hours? I sipped em.
I thought about that vampire bullshit, thinkin about livin at the old art house collective bullshit.
I saunter over to the 'straunt (that's what I'm calling them to avoid repetition in naming).
"Is this seat taken?" I say to the water bottle and notepad.
There's a Headwaters Hot Yoga sticker on the container.
"Who the fuck here practices hot yoga and is here at bar time?" Some sort of fuckin' masochist.
The vampire song suggested radio yields bleak results.
I listen with one airpod, in case I get to squeeze in my menu preference to the frantic, ungloved, behind-the-counter people.
I look up after a few moments and Kurt's workin'
He's my old roommate from The Atlantic.
"I'll be right with you."
Sudden recognition
"I'll be right with you!!!"
He rambled about his other job, justification for his existence. It's not so bad. It's not so bad. This place... it's not me. This place. Well, I got thrown outta that place, too. Y'know, Martin's got Alzheimer's. He thought it was just the eye surgery, but it's Alzheimer's. He goes on to blame the chaos and dysfunction of everything around him on his coworkers, maybe not knowing this is The Oxford.
The fish say, "what the hell is water?"
He says, "I don't know what's wrong with the water."
Kurt's the guy who told me I was the most solipsistic person he's ever met, that I wasn't as funny as I thought I was.
I could have responded, "you're not even real."
I'll eat and go home and maybe never see him. Square pegs are everywhere, but we don't see them in the round holes.
I'll think about him too long and contemplate why I intentionally don't identify with film. I love a good story. I love it too much. Love it so much it hurts and the breaking is something I love too.
I'll go to bed and dream of some other thing.
