holy shit. probably one of the most nerve-wracking stages i’ve ever played. took me several tries trying to perfect trying to stall frostnova, and several more from basically trying to get good rng and not get murdered with her ice spawns. as you can see at the bottom left, i was banking on texas being the only one who could deal damage and actually defeat her. was throwing down just about everyone trying to stall her while trying to wait out texas’ deployment cooldown until frostnova iced the entire middle damn lane and made it impossible to put down anyone there

Baby girl you can't even get a majority of third party/independents in a single state legislature. In the past 30 years there have been seven independent/third party state governors, and of those, only three were genuinely independent. The rest either got elected as a R/D and switched mid-term when they alienated themselves from their state party, got elected as I and then switched to R/D during their terms (with some of them having served the R/D parties before), or served as proxy candidates with heavy backing and support from one of the major two parties. Even VERMONT, a relative stronghold for independent/third party candidates -- the place that brought you Bernie Sanders -- doesn't have a majority of third party candidates. And when I call them a stronghold, I mean they are the only state (I know of) that consistently elects (less than a handful of) Independent candidates to the state legislature; the place is still dominated by Ds and Rs.

Hey princess here are some high school civics question for you: How are Supreme Court judges nominated? :) By what process are they appointed? Who starts that process? :) Why is the Supreme Court considered reflective of who has won the presidency? :)

it's so funny because both the screenwriter and the director (a black woman) of THE OLD GUARD went out of their way to depict a story where a young black woman (no doubt a target of predatory US military recruitment tactics, as she was from a low-income area of Chicago) who has to UNLEARN american imperialism (her fellow soldiers immediately rejecting her after she miraculously recovered was not a subtle clue! this is an exploitative system that hates soldiers!) and slowly embrace a diverse group of anti-fascists who fight as a found family without allegiance to any one country.

And yet people (*cough*americans*cough*) in fandom still managed to completely miss this crucial element of Nile's character development, and descended into borderline military wank when describing her character's abilities!!

Idk I thought the movie was boring af so I won't be revisiting it to refresh myself on its intricacies but I do remember being super annoyed at the axiomatic assumption that the best use of immortality is to be a roving band of supersoldiers who don't seem to have any connection to the places they're helping to inflict violence upon.
