I do think the reveal of Steel as the villain is one of the best reveals of a parent as evil because at no point was the audience ever led to believe that Steel was good. Like the audience always knew Steel as one of the highest ranking individuals in an incredibly morally dubious organization. The reveal wasn't Steel is secretly evil; it was that Steel was willing to (and did) go after the people closest to her.

Gays in comics: one wholesome love interest that they date in the world's most boring, conventional way.
