Is a hell of a dystopian news story. Like. This sounds like the plotline to a B list sci fi thriller from 2006, not literally current events.

They wanna do luxury space travel missions, but they can't manage to rescue this astronaut (and her co-worker) from space before NEXT YEAR??

NASA astronauts return after an unplanned nine-month mission in space.

NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore have finally returned to Earth after an unexpectedly extended stay in space.

Originally, the duo planned to spend just a week aboard the International Space Station (ISS) following their June launch on Boeing's Starliner spacecraft. However, due to technical issues, their stay stretched to over nine months.

At last, Williams and Wilmore have splashed down safely, returning to Earth inside a SpaceX Dragon capsule. They departed the ISS at 1:05 a.m. ET on Tuesday, alongside NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov. Musk has also said that former president Joe Biden rejected his offer to bring the astronauts home early because it would've made Donald Trump and his supporters 'look good.'

During a Tuesday press conference, Williams and Wilmore were asked if the Biden administration did in fact decline Musk's offer to bring them home early, to which Wilmore replied that Musk's claim 'is absolutely factual.' 

'I can only say that Mr Musk, what he says, is absolutely factual,' Wilmore said, noting he and Williams were not briefed on what happened behind closed doors. So I believe him. I don't know all those details, and I don't think any of us really can give you the answer that maybe that you would be hoping for,' he added.

The astronaut then gushed over Trump and Musk, saying 'we have the utmost respect for them.'
