Emperor Napoleon V and Empress Charlotte have announced the joyous news of the upcoming arrival of their first child, the future heir to the throne of Francesim. This is a momentous occasion for the imperial couple and the entire nation, which eagerly awaits the birth of this child. While the baby’s gender and name remain closely guarded secrets, anticipation is already palpable among the people, who are preparing to celebrate this new addition to the imperial lineage with great enthusiasm.

As Francesim rejoices at the news of the imperial couple’s first child, a pressing question fills public conversations and speculations: will Emperor Napoleon V be at his wife’s side in the coming months? This question is especially pertinent given the Regency, which allows the Empress to govern in the Emperor’s absence as he pursues military training.

despite knowing what was going to happen, snotlout's redemption and eventual downfall was so so heartbreaking to me. we spend the past 10 books witnessing how much he's tormented and bullied hiccup that we all feel the same anger and frustration and resentment as fishlegs does in the beginning of 11. i was, maybe, even rooting for something a little bad to happen to him so that he can feel even a fraction of the humiliation that he put hiccup through. but time and time again hiccup, with his inherent goodness and wonderful capacity to always try and see the best in people, reminds us that people need and deserve second chances. even third, fourth and fifth chances. even when hiccup was faced with the certainty that snotlout was set on betraying him from the start.

that's why it was so satisfying to get to the emotional catharsis of the swordfight. snotlout practically begging for hiccup to hate him and hiccup genuinely not having it in him to be able to. and even after that, even after he disarms hiccup and is seconds from killing him - he doesn't. and then hiccup comforts snotlout through it. he tells him words that snotlout didn't know he's been desperate to hear. he tells him he's being too hard on himself. he tells him he's a hero. he opens a door inside snotlout's life for the first time in a long time. despite everything, he offers him another choice to join the dragonmarkers. and snotlout accepts. he bows to hiccup, he calls him king, pledges his sword to his service forever, shakes his hand and chooses to bear the dragonmark.

and it's this moment we finally seeing the seeds of change planted in snotlout sprout - instigated by gobber teaching him a lesson in the amber slavelands and reminding him what the black star represents: pride, honour, bravery. all the times we see snotlout give in to vulnerability and ponder on his choices, he's always holding onto it. which makes it all the more symbolic when he hangs it around hiccup's neck during his last act of valour.

just like how the book tells us that the tides can change so fast, through hiccup, my heart was able to give snotlout another chance too. and it's because of hiccup's belief in snotlout's potential for more that makes you feel so strongly about his death. snotlout's excitement at finally being on hiccup's side, at doing what's right, at having the opportunity to actually be a hero - we can't help but feel that burst of pride, we can't help but root for him. and so we feel the loss, as hiccup did. and it's a point driven home when hiccup ends the epilogue with how he’s carried snotlout and his sacrifice with him all throughout his life. and how time has rubbed away at the black star.

that now the star doesn't look black at all. just gold.

Going back through the story, I noticed this interesting parallel. Frances and Ripp both collapse to ground after kissing (and being rejected by, to different degrees) Tank and Johnny respectively.

Ripp's was a full blown aspiration failure, given that he's a Romance sim. I don't think I ever spelled that out in words, but the animations were there, and when Jaxy and Zoe finally find him a week later, he's lying in a gutter with the aspiration items. He also mentions that he "Grew Up Badly" to adulthood because of it.

I always imagined he got hit with a rather large "Be Rejected By…" romantic fear, but then I'm sure he actually benefited from filling them instead: kiss, first kiss, make out... particularly with Johnny. I'm sure his wants panel was populated by Johnny wants, lined up like dominoes.

In the end, it was "Lose Johnny as Best Friend" that devastated him.

"What on earth are you wearing?" Will laughed.

"I found it in Mom's closet."

"Oh I remember the clothes, I meant what are you doing wearing them?"

"I don't know, I thought maybe I could pull it off. What do you think?"

"I think you look ridiculous, but your mother would probably hit me for saying that."

"I was only trying them on."

"Where are your clothes?"

Kathy didn't want to admit she no longer liked wearing anything that the Barbers had paid for; she didn't want to even hint at a possible rift between her and Reginald III, but her pause lingered long enough for Will to get the message anyway.

"Ah, keep 'em," he said. "Lord knows she isn't using them."

That's when Kathy and Will heard a sudden burst of honking outside.

"Who in the--?" her father grumbled.

"Kathy!"

"What do you want, Reg?"

"Gee, don't know what I did to deserve that kind of welcome."

"Everything okay, honey?" Will asked.

"I'll handle it. Stay inside."

"He doesn't scare me."

Reginald III hopped up the porch steps with ease and asked his wife with a smirk, "What are you wearing?"

Which he quickly followed with: "My condolences on your wife's passing, Mr. Rose. I'm sorry I couldn't be there for the funeral. Work, you know."

And then lastly: "Well, dear, ready to go home?"

"I am home, Reg."

There was a pause before Reginald III replied with: "Right, yeah, I know this is your home, but I meant--"

"I'm staying, Reg."

Reginald III shook his head. He muttered to himself, "No, no. This isn't--"

His wife asked him to speak up.

Through his teeth Reginald III seethed, "This isn't how we do things, Kathleen!"

"Reg, I--" She wanted to explain herself, but her husband was already walking away.

Will pushed against Kathy's back and called out: "If my daughter doesn't want to see you, then I better not see you anywhere near this house ever again. Yah hear me?!"

Reginald III didn't say a word in reply as he walked calmly to his vehicle, roared it to life, then sped away.

"I was wrong about what I said earlier," Will offered. "You're more than capable to wear your mother's clothes."

"Thank you, Daddy."

Charlie noticed his dad walking past outside and rushed out to greet him.

"Dad! It's been so long! You must come in and meet Georgia!" he cried as he hugged his dad.

Kyle smiled. "Of course, son! Your mum will be angry she wasn't here to meet her as well, though!"

Stephen came home with a promotion to Party DJ, and new night-time hours to go with it. Looks like Stephen and Charlie will be taking shifts as parents for a little while!

Inside, Kyle was loving getting to know his new granddaughter.

"Where's Georgie? Where is she? Peekaboo!"

Stephen peered down at them from the sofa. "Are you all right down there, Mr O'Donnell? You know, she will play that for hours and never get bored so if your knees or back are hurting, feel free to stop any time!"

Kyle chuckled. "They are hurting a bit! I'm not as young as I was. I used to play this with Charlie and his siblings all the time but it was easier then!"

He got up, groaning, and decided to take his leave.

"I'll come back soon and I'll bring your mother next time!" he said.

Just a brief glimpse at the growing family tree of the O'Donnells... four grandchildren already! I love it!

The round came to an end that night when the season changed so have a family picture where I actually managed to wrangle Georgia without too much trouble!

Stephen is now 24, Charlie is 23, and Georgia is 2.

You know I haven't done a single epilogue yet?

Why? I mod a lot and I like it. But some of them apparently interfered with the new text - because the only dialogue I was getting during epilogues was [Not Found]. Yeah, yikes.

I fixed it today, yay! So... to celebrate, here's some mixing up - because I have to start all over again. I don't hate it, at least I get to do something new!

Meet Tavryn, my dwarven lady Paladin Durge. I thought it would be interesting to have a Paladin break their Oath during one of the Urge moments ^^

"I mean it," he said. "Let's settle this."

"Settle what, dear?" Sarah asked coyly.

"Look," Reginald II began, studying the floor. "I know better than to simply ask for what I want plainly, I know there's always a catch. So, just this once: I need a favour, but it should be the very last favour I will ever ask of you."

"Go on."

"I want a divorce. A quiet divorce."

"I'm curious, which one do you think is the favour? The divorce, or the quiet part?" she asked.

"You're not gonna make any part of this easy, are you."

"Quite the opposite," she said frowning at her wedding band. "I think you'll find my counter offer will make things incredibly easy."

"What's your angle, Sarah?"

"No angle. Sit, please." She pointed to the seat directly across from her.

"Sarah," Reg II moaned, "I just want to get this over with."

"As do I. Now sit."

Reginald II did as he was told but not without expressing his dissatisfaction with a loud exhale through his nose.

"First, it seems our son is also having marital troubles. He and Kathleen cannot have a baby of their own."

"So?"

"So," she glared, "it means the family is in trouble."

"Our family has been in trouble for a long time now. What do you want me to do about it?"

"What do you think happens to all this if there is no heir?" she spat. "I knew you were dumb, but honestly!" she shook her head.

Reginald II pressed his teeth together. As much as he'd love to trade insults, he could feel the ace she had hiding up her sleeve about to drop at any moment so he braced for impact.

"We're going to have to help him--"

"--like I helped you."

"Is it really that severe? I mean, they're newlyweds, can't they figure out some other way to--?"

"Not according to Dr. Hill. I overheard the whole conversation; the three of them sat right here, just like us now."

"But they're so young."

"Kathleen's tubes are too tight," Sarah said with a careless shrug, "so they need to do either IVF or surrogacy, but neither route was a considerable option for Kathleen, apparently, so she and Reg are not speaking. She left for Whibley to look after her father, but that was a few weeks ago now so I suspect she and Reg may already be separated and it's just a matter of time before it blows up beyond our control."

"Separated?"

"Oh, keep up, Reginald. You'd know that if you weren't spending every free moment with that mistress of yours. Don't think I don't know, this is a very small city."

"So, here's my counter offer: I can fix this. I can keep his and Kathleen's divorce as amicable and quiet as possible, followed by a speedy albeit graceful transition to a wonderful, fertile Feverfew girl I already have lined up for our Reg."

"That sounds--good. Great, even. But," Reg II held his breath briefly before asking, "what's the catch?"

"We stay married. You don't get my help if we're divorced."

"Anything else," he begged.

"There is nothing else I want," she said coolly. "We will gift Reginald III and his new wife the cottage home, and you will move into the main house here with me. We will be a publicly happy couple as we always have been for the rest of our days, lest our son suffer a devastating humiliation that drowns him and the Barber name forever."

Reginald II leapt to his feet. "This is absurd!" he shouted with tightly clenched fists.

"Absurd? Really? I think my offer is much more suitable for everyone involved than the alternative."

He shook his head in disgust. She was good, she thought of everything.

With nowhere to go, Reginald II slumped back down in defeat. His wife smiled.

"What do you want me to do?" he muttered.

"End the affair with whatshername for good, then pack your things -- once you're in the house with me, I'll introduce Reg and his new wife while Kathy is still out of town. I'll arrange everything, you just look pretty for the new family photos."

Without saying another word, Reginald II sunk his hands into his coat pockets and sombrely headed for the door.

"I'm so glad you came over," Sarah said.

"What, did you really think you could simply buy me out of this family?"
