i have been getting a tad bit too obsessed with reverse 1999 lately and compiled some stuff around might edit it if i find more
this yapping session will be abt sonetto
her name is deprived from a fourteen line poetry called the Sonnet while also having the meaning of “little song or sound’
her udimo is a dog called Cirneco Dell’Etna a breed that originated from italy as stated in her storyboard
she doesn't know her date of birth and uses the date of when she was adopted by the foundation as her birthday (January 10th)
she's 16 yrs old
she's speculated to be 5'3 ft or 160 cm
her compliments are so sincere that people are often too shy to face her (the rizzler)
back in SPDM she was worried about vertin's arcane skill exams and tutored her privately
a helper in the SPDM once found a challenge letter with pink heart patterns in the trash bin (might imply that the letter was from matilda to sonetto)
sonetto is an artist as stated in her 80% bond story and glassfeder's description
sonetto likes collecting newspapers and treasures them
every year she gets a present from vertin on her birthday which is mostly a collection of poems
it’s implied (this is really obvious) that she has a crush on the timekeeper/Vertin and has also been implied sonetto's va during the reddit Q&A
on her medal she has an embroidered dog on it (i just thought this was cute)
since she doesn't know much about the outside world or her culture she doesn't see anything wrong with pineapple pizza or gelato pizza for that matter (april fools and pizza hut collab comic)
she keeps a frog in a jar in her room
time for voiceline analysis
"Sempre caro mi fu quest'ermo colle.”
this quote is derived from the poem L’Infinito by Giacomo Leopardi in the autumn of 1819 the poem is meant to show how he yearns to travel beyond his restrictive hometown of Recanati and experience more of the world that he studied.
this can also show the way sonetto might have wished to see the outside world just as she studied on the textbooks
"Regna sereno intenso ed infinito.”
a line from the poem Mezzogiorno Alpino written after a short stay in Courmayeur, Giosuè Carducci reflects on the clear Alpine landscape, with the aim of highlighting the power of nature.
the trees stood as if to enjoy the pleasure of the sunlight penetrating their branches, absolute silence dominates, broken only by the rustling of the river water.
this might show how much interest and adoration sonetto shows towards things outside of the foundation
“So long lives this and this gives power to thee.”
a line from the famous poem Sonnet 18 by William Shakespeare, where he used this poem to praise the beauty of his beloved where their beauty is more preferable than a hot summer day. theres a bit of a change in the lines "So long lives this and this gives life to thee." the original line used life instead of power, it wouldn't really make sense if they used life for a buffer it would've been more of a healing skill so i get it
(i actually don't know what link this has towards sonetto soo fun fact sonnet 18 was about a man)
"I know the moon and this is an alien city”
the line is derived from the poem A London Thoroughfare 2 A.M by Amy Lowell the meaning of this poem is the feeling of being lost in a busy city, expressing emotions such as loneliness and being overwhelmed and how the only thing familiar to the writer was the moon. (aight im sorry idk how to word this one again another fun fact Amy Lowell is a sapphic and likes to call her muse or lover Lady of the moon)
“Each moment, now night.”
One of the lines from the poem Night by Max Weber (not the sociologist, also not sure on what to write since i dont actually know what the poem actually means i like to think that its about the silence and darkness of the night to show loneliness)
so basically most of these references loneliness and adoration towards the things the writer wrote about which might link to how sonetto might feel adoration and curiosity for the outside world and how she might've felt lonely in the foundation after being closed off from the outside world
(sorry if some words might not make sense and for how many things i've kept blank i failed literature so feel free to correct me im always up for discussion, its funny the way i found out most poets are queer are because of this)

Monika Marchewka (Polish, b. 1988)
Mirror, 2023
Oil on canvas
39 2/5 × 35 2/5 × 1 1/5 in | 100 × 90 × 3 cm
Monika Marchewka’s enchanted, ultra-feminine paintings are filled with cotton-candy clouds, pearlescent seashells, and shimmering bodies of water: the stuff of girlhood daydreams. But despite their splendid environs, Marchewka’s women subjects seem unsettled, caught in surreal moments of transition or uncertainty; they’re often crying, tears adorning their faces like jewels. Frequently employing the same motifs, Marchewka’s paintings act as storyboards—an unsurprising approach, given the artist’s background in film. A graduate of the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, she worked as an animator, including on the 2017 feature film Loving Vincent, before turning to painting full time. Marchewka’s work has been featured in shows at LAMB and Artistellar in London, as well as Monti8 in Latina, Italy, among other galleries. Via artsy

 Exes Fics ✤
A series of posts with the top five fics of each category tag on ao3 by kudos plus five more hidden gems from that category! Remember to leave kudos and a comment on the fics you enjoyed to show your appreciation! You can find our other recs here.
- Top 5 H/L Fics -
1️⃣ got the sunshine on my shoulders by @hattalove [E, 124k]
five years ago, harry styles left his tiny home town to make it big as a recording artist. he didn't have much regard for what he left behind - a life, a family, and a husband, who woke up one morning to find him gone.
now, harry has everything he could possibly want: he's rich, famous, and adored by everyone he meets, including his boyfriend. but when said boyfriend proposes to him, he's forced to face the uncomfortable facts of his past - and louis, who's spent the last five years returning every set of divorce papers harry sent him.
(or, an au based on the movie sweet home alabama.)
2️⃣ Mine Would Be You by @crinkle-eyed-boo [E, 114k]
Louis blinks his eyes open, his eyelids fluttering as the room swims around him. He takes several gulps of beer once he confirms that he’s definitely not hallucinating, that the very first portrait Harry Styles ever painted of him is hanging on that wall.
Louis stares at the wall, his heart jackrabbiting in his chest as he realizes that there’s not just one painting of him, there’s five, the portraits lined up like they’re some sort of storyboard depicting the rise and fall of his deepest love. His greatest heartache. A pain that cut him so deep that he left the fucking country, severing all ties with his life in New York, now suddenly surrounding him as if he’d never left.
Fucking shit motherfucker fuck.
Louis returns to New York City five years after he left it – and the love of his life – behind. He didn't intend to see Harry again, but fate has a funny way of pulling them together, whether they like it or not. After making a begrudging truce, they both start to wonder: Would it be so bad if history repeated itself?
3️⃣ all the lights are full of colour by @infinitelymint [E, 26k]
So, fast-forwarding eight years from the day Harry met Louis, he is now a twenty-seven year old owner of one of the most up-and-coming eating establishments on the London restaurant scene, father of two wonderful boys and… separated from his husband. Now, that last part definitely was never a part of the original plan.
Or, Harry and Louis are separated, but for the sake of their two sons, they choose to spend Christmas together. It may just lead to a Christmas miracle.
4️⃣ The Shirt You Hate by @isthatyoularry [M, 15k]
“Soph,” Louis says to his female executive assistant. “I’m making more money than ever, and I have just realised that I have no one to spend it on.”
At thirty years old, Louis is past halfway to becoming a billionaire, and he needs to find the one. He literally stumbles upon his university sweetheart.
5️⃣ You’ve Got My Devotion (Hate You Sometimes) by lucythegoosey / @harryrainbows [E, 95k]
Harry was in the biggest boy band in the world. He was also one half of the best (or worst, depends on who you ask) kept secret relationship in the music industry.
Now, almost five years on, after One Direction has broken up, and Harry and Louis' relationship has as well, a video threatens to put everything at risk.
One determined Irishman, a massive publicity stunt and two begrudging exes are all it takes to bring One Direction back to life and maybe, just maybe, Harry and Louis' mangled love life too.
Or: Harry and Louis are forced to fake-date after an old video from when they were dating emerges.
HIDDEN GEMS:
💎 Wait For It by dimpled_halo / @comebackassholes [E, 119k]
“You’re doing it again.” Zayn’s voice breaks him away from his thoughts.
Louis furrows his brows. “What?”
Zayn waves his hand around. “You’ve got that dreamy look on your face. You’re thinking about the future love of your life, again aren’t you?”
Zayn is staring at him in a way like he’s daring Louis to lie so he could call him out on it. Liam and Zayn can read him like a book, making it hard for Louis to keep anything from them. Instead of trying to lie, he resigns himself and lets out a breath.
“I am.”
A How I Met Your Mother au with a better ending. Louis is ready to find the love of his life and when he meets Harry he thinks he's finally found them. Liam and Zayn have been together since college and are ready to take the next step in their relationship, except Zayn might be having doubts. And Niall is happy with no strings attached dating until a new employee at the bar they frequent walks into his life and makes him question his entire existence.
💎 pull me back together again (the way you cut me in half) by 28sunflowers / @vintageumbroshirt [E, 26k]
When trying to figure out who the love of his life is, Harry’s brain brings back a specific name from his past.
That’s why, a decade after a messy divorce, Louis opens his door to find his ex-husband standing on the other side, asking for a second chance.
Or a This Is Us AU starring Harry as Kevin and Louis as Sophie, but I selectively choose to use only some parts of what's cannon on the show.
💎 Love Gone Wrong by wordsnnotes / @quelsentiment [T, 18k]
Years ago, Harry and Niall left their rural town for the big city, while their respective boyfriends Louis and Zayn stayed behind at the ranch. Louis and Harry start an on-and-off relationship, but Zayn and Niall break off all ties. When Louis gets into a fight with Harry, he enlists Zayn's help to make things right with him, thereby putting Zayn in Niall's path again, and giving all of them a chance to work things out and start anew.
💎 don't you call him baby by @femstyles [T, 8k]
But now, eleven months later, as his Uber pulls up outside the bar, Harry thinks he can absolutely handle this. He's going to walk into Liam's birthday party where the ex-love of his life is also going to be and he's going to show Louis that he can be a mature adult about everything that’s happened in the last year.
Or the one where Harry is absolutely doing fine and is definitely not still hung up on Louis. Except he is.
💎 'Tis the Damn Season by zanni_scaramouche / @zanniscaramouche [M, 2k]
The door will open and he’ll smile wide and genuine at the people who raised him, his teary-eyed mother and rosey-face step-father. He won’t think about the cabin in the woods again until next December.

Practice 1
assignment 6, concept art - concept and storyboards
. Blog post 01
This assignment requires us to create a storyboard with 6-10 panels. We need to use these panels to effectively tell a story, and I believe the choice of the story is crucial.
I plan to illustrate the storyboard for the science fiction flash fiction story "Knock."
"Knock" is a science fiction short story by American writer Fredric Brown. It begins with a piece of Flash fiction based on the following passage by Thomas Bailey Aldrich:
"Imagine all human beings swept off the face of the earth, excepting one man. Imagine this man in some vast city, New York or London. Imagine him on the third or fourth day of his solitude sitting in a house and hearing a ring at the door-bell!"
Fredric Brown condensed this text into "a sweet little action story that is only two sentences long". "Knock" then goes on to elaborate on those two sentences and build a more complete plot around them.
The first two lines are a complete story by themselves:
“The last man on Earth sat alone in a room. There was a knock on the door ...“
It was published in the December 1948 issue of Thrilling Wonder Stories. There have been three different radio adaptations (Dimension X, X Minus One and Sci Fi Channel's Seeing Ear Theatre). The story was reprinted in The Best Science Fiction Stories: 1949.
Knock (short story) - Wikipedia
I believe that every storyboard creator should have the awareness that, when crafting a storyboard, the most crucial aspects are not the intricacy of individual frames but rather:
1. The coherence of the story
2. The readability of the story
3. The completeness of visual information
Novel media differs fundamentally from visual media such as movies, television, comics, etc., in that visual media possess the immediacy and concreteness of visual presentation.
For example, in a movie depicting a bar scene, the audience can even see the brand of each bottle. When a large amount of visual information rapidly enters the audience's brain, artists need to assist in filtering and guide the audience's emotions and feelings. Guidance methods include lighting, camera focus, composition, and so on.
I read a book called "framed ink", which is a tutorial book that teaches Visual Storytellers how to draw and tell stories.
Mateu-Mestre, M. (2010) Framed ink: drawing and composition for visual storytellers. Culver City: Design Studio Press.
Author Marcos Mateu Mestre in "framed ink":
Let's not forget that when we are talking about visual storytelling, the image is the vehicle and not the end in itself.
We cannot afford to get the audience stuck on a particular frame just because the drawing or the scene looks great without a specific purpose for it within the story.
Obviously we aim to produce the best quality art, but we should prioritize the following:
• What are we trying to say in our narration as a whole?
• What mood do we want our audience to be in throughout the story and at any given time within a specific sequence or shot?
What is the function of this moment within the story?
• How are we going to take our audience there?
• What in our drawing is contributing to the general statement?
• What can we leave out without changing what we are trying to say?
I think these points are the most important for Visual Storytellers.

that is all for now~

Jingyang Gao
Jingyang Gao is an animator, storyboard designer and animation director, who is currently based in London. Focusing on 2D animation filming, he also has a great passion for exploring different animation techniques and practices in stop motion animation, game and advertising.
Artist/ Director statement
This project is collaborated with the brand Daguoli and stands as one of the Chinese Festival and Solar Term Series. Daguoli is a very nice company based in Anhui Province, China, providing agricultural products and intending to improve the financial condition of local people. To promote their brand and concepts, we decided to make a series of Chinese festivals and 24 solar terms, using animation videos and illustrations. We combined some features of local constructions and customs such as animal hats, fireworks and persimmon tree to show the link between the company and local culture. Besides, creating cute children companied by an adult is considered to establish a kind and friendly image of the brand, emphasizing the feeling of family. 2D animation is also applied to get an easier understanding and broader acceptance in all ages.
Chinese New Year's Eve is a very important part of this series, as the Chinese Lunar New Year is the biggest festival in China. We’re very glad that our client is satisfied with the forms and contents we present in this video. We’ll continue to work with the company and complete the whole series in the future.

8: Want any tattoos?
Without spoiling nr.7: yes, pretty sure I do, and I already had some ideas, but I forgot about them, so apparently they weren't good enough to actually become actual tattoos :D
22: What I want to be when I get older
I'd love to be a full time artist some day, I just don't know what kind, because it still needs to be a job I can earn enough money in. Storyboard artist would be fun and something I could manage, I think
36: Where I would like to live
already answered (I also really like London, but I believe I'd think differently about that, if I'd actually live there)

James Holden - Imagine This Is A High Dimensional Space Of All Possibilities
“I wanted this to be my most open record, uncynical, naive, unguarded, the record teenage me wanted to make,” says electronic explorer James Holden of his generically unconstrained new album of rave music for a parallel universe 'Imagine This Is A High Dimensional Space Of All Possibilities'. “I used to balance my clock-radio on a wardrobe to catch the faint pirate FM signals from the nearest city, dreaming of what raves would be like when I could finally escape and become a New Age traveller. So it’s like a dream of rave, a fantasy about a transformative music culture that would make the world better. I guess it’s also a dialogue with that teenage me.” Standing in contrast to the expanded band and live take recordings of its predecessor 'The Animal Spirits' (“Dramatic, colourful and Holden’s fullest-sounding work yet” 9/10 Loud And Quiet), Holden’s fourth solo artist album is more of a continuous sound collage, artfully juxtaposing audio worlds in his own inimitable manner, with a respectful hat tip to the pastoral classics of his early nineties youth (notable mentions to The KLF’s timeless 'Chill Out', and the sprawling radio soundscapes of Future Sound of London). But where his first wave forebears pilfered freely from the history of recorded music to date, Holden’s sample sources are custom generated, drawn from recordings of his own performances on the modular synth, keyboard, organ and piano plus the lesser explored drones of his childhood violin, cut-up bass guitar, overblown recorder, all manner of percussive trinkets and the serendipity of the odd field recording, as well as guest contributions from various members of the wider Animal Spirits live family: long-time touring companion drummer Tom Page, tabla-championing percussionist Camilo Tirado, multi-instrumentalist for hire Marcus Hamblett (here, on double bass and guitar) and saxophonist Christopher Duffin (on loan from Xam Duo and Virginia Wing). 'Imagine This Is A High Dimensional Space of All Possibilities' will be released via Holden’s own proudly DIY Border Community label on 31st March 2023, on double vinyl, CD, digital download and streaming. For the album’s distinctive hand drawn artwork and accompanying twelve page comic booklet insert, Holden called upon Amsterdam-based illustrator and musician Jorge Velez to help flesh out the visual component of the immersive fantasy world that is conjured up in 'Imagine This Is A High Dimensional Space of All Possibilities'. The result is a twelve panel storyboard (one per track) documenting the rave rituals of an alternative reality populated by magical creatures, which owes much to the pair’s shared love of the soothing retro-futurist colour palettes of the late and truly great French cartoonist Moebius (included in pdf form exclusively with Bandcamp downloads). Gaining Insight into the Creative Process of Concept Artist Crom - Cristian Ortiz in an Exclusive Interview.
Since he was a young boy, Cristian Ortiz has been driven towards illustration. His passion for the arts have led him to explore many disciplines within the creative industry-- animation, comics, storyboarding, game design and advertising.
But there's one thing that all of these fields had in common; drawing! Once he discovered 'illustration' as his rightful career path though it seemed like everything made sense--so with every decision since then his goal has been to become an illustrator.
Are you self-taught or did you have a formal Art Education ?
I always drew and had personal projects going since I was really young but I wanted to see what was there to learn from places like St. Martins University where every summer I’d spend all my pennies on their short courses on storyboarding, illustration and design.
By the time I was seventeen, I had attended a foundational course in East London that taught me how to take on projects and briefs with confidence. Later on, at Middlesex University, my Illustration & Animation degree not only brought together an incredible group of peers but also permitted traditional illustrators to open up new perspectives for me which otherwise would have gone unrealized.
I eagerly saved every penny to attend St. Martins University's summer courses in storyboarding, illustration and design to gain an understanding of the possibilities within my field.
My past work experience has been exclusively in freelancing, so I am more familiar with it. If you prefer having direct contact with the people you are collaborating with and taking care of the administrative tasks yourself, then this is a great route for you to take.
Being an excellent game artist necessitates the ability to creatively transform a project brief into your own personal vision, while simultaneously infusing it with enthusiasm. An aptitude for bringing life and energy to characters and environments is key in this role, enabling you to craft unique experiences that players will love.
You should be full of enthusiasm when constructing bold new worlds and fascinating characters - it's key to the creative process!
If you are an aspiring game artist with dreams of succeeding in the industry, then honing your artistic skills and practice is essential. Different styles come into play depending on what type of game artistry you are interested in. To become a proficient game artist, it is important to develop a vision for how you want to express yourself visually through practice - creating projects that test your boundaries and challenge your abilities will help identify where further development needs to be focused on.
Trends come and go, yet to effectively communicate your vision visually requires diligence, practice, and personal projects. Do you find that the final illustrations are distinct from the ideas originally in mind?
The pieces I showcased at "Illustrated 2016" in the Truman Brewery were close to what one may classify as Fine Art. But where does Illustration stop and Fine Art begin? Or, is there no distinct boundary between the two? To me, it's about pushing boundaries: striving for excellence and surprise factors. More often than not, I end up with something even better than what my initial vision was!
I believe people perceive my work as valuable because I make physical pieces on canvases and fine paper, instead of mass-produced prints. While labels can be irrelevant to me, the fact that my artwork is one-of-a-kind has caused its value to rise exponentially in recent times. With a professional background steeped in commercial work and pop culture, who knows what direction my art will take me next?
What's it like to be part of the Creative Community in London? It's inspiring! In my experience, this city is a true powerhouse for creative individuals who are looking to collaborate and perfect their respective crafts. From indie comic creators, sign painters, game developers and more – if you have an interest in art or expression then there will always be a gathering that welcomes your enthusiasm. I've been fortunate enough not only witness these communities but also connect with them; never has there been such an energizing force towards creativity as what exists here.
London exudes magnetic creativity, which has attracted an eclectic community of artisans who are eager to collaborate and hone their crafts. This vibrant metropolis is alive with unique individuals wishing to share their inspiring skills and experiences with others.
