i have been getting a tad bit too obsessed with reverse 1999 lately and compiled some stuff around might edit it if i find more
this yapping session will be abt sonetto
her name is deprived from a fourteen line poetry called the Sonnet while also having the meaning of “little song or sound’
her udimo is a dog called Cirneco Dell’Etna a breed that originated from italy as stated in her storyboard
Tumblr media
she doesn't know her date of birth and uses the date of when she was adopted by the foundation as her birthday (January 10th)
she's 16 yrs old
she's speculated to be 5'3 ft or 160 cm
her compliments are so sincere that people are often too shy to face her (the rizzler)
back in SPDM she was worried about vertin's arcane skill exams and tutored her privately
a helper in the SPDM once found a challenge letter with pink heart patterns in the trash bin (might imply that the letter was from matilda to sonetto)
sonetto is an artist as stated in her 80% bond story and glassfeder's description
sonetto likes collecting newspapers and treasures them
every year she gets a present from vertin on her birthday which is mostly a collection of poems
it’s implied (this is really obvious) that she has a crush on the timekeeper/Vertin and has also been implied sonetto's va during the reddit Q&A
Tumblr media Tumblr media
on her medal she has an embroidered dog on it (i just thought this was cute)
Tumblr media
since she doesn't know much about the outside world or her culture she doesn't see anything wrong with pineapple pizza or gelato pizza for that matter (april fools and pizza hut collab comic)
she keeps a frog in a jar in her room
time for voiceline analysis
"Sempre caro mi fu quest'ermo colle.”
this quote is derived from the poem L’Infinito by Giacomo Leopardi in the autumn of 1819 the poem is meant to show how he yearns to travel beyond his restrictive hometown of Recanati and experience more of the world that he studied.
this can also show the way sonetto might have wished to see the outside world just as she studied on the textbooks
"Regna sereno intenso ed infinito.”
a line from the poem Mezzogiorno Alpino written after a short stay in Courmayeur, Giosuè Carducci reflects on the clear Alpine landscape, with the aim of highlighting the power of nature.
the trees stood as if to enjoy the pleasure of the sunlight penetrating their branches, absolute silence dominates, broken only by the rustling of the river water.
this might show how much interest and adoration sonetto shows towards things outside of the foundation
“So long lives this and this gives power to thee.”
a line from the famous poem Sonnet 18 by William Shakespeare, where he used this poem to praise the beauty of his beloved where their beauty is more preferable than a hot summer day. theres a bit of a change in the lines "So long lives this and this gives life to thee." the original line used life instead of power, it wouldn't really make sense if they used life for a buffer it would've been more of a healing skill so i get it
(i actually don't know what link this has towards sonetto soo fun fact sonnet 18 was about a man)
"I know the moon and this is an alien city”
the line is derived from the poem A London Thoroughfare 2 A.M by Amy Lowell the meaning of this poem is the feeling of being lost in a busy city, expressing emotions such as loneliness and being overwhelmed and how the only thing familiar to the writer was the moon. (aight im sorry idk how to word this one again another fun fact Amy Lowell is a sapphic and likes to call her muse or lover Lady of the moon)
“Each moment, now night.”
One of the lines from the poem Night by Max Weber (not the sociologist, also not sure on what to write since i dont actually know what the poem actually means i like to think that its about the silence and darkness of the night to show loneliness)
so basically most of these references loneliness and adoration towards the things the writer wrote about which might link to how sonetto might feel adoration and curiosity for the outside world and how she might've felt lonely in the foundation after being closed off from the outside world
(sorry if some words might not make sense and for how many things i've kept blank i failed literature so feel free to correct me im always up for discussion, its funny the way i found out most poets are queer are because of this)

IncuBlitz Part Three: Just an ex??
Tumblr media
This is part three of a three-part analysis related to "Better Than Blitzo" (or "IncuBlitz" as I like to call him) and the look that he gave Blitz, right before he kissed Stolas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Click here for Part One: His Tattoo, Part Two: Verosika, or keep reading to dive into Part Three: Just an ex??—what his personal motivations could be for taking the time to check if Blitz is watching before kissing Stolas.
My last theory, and the one that I think is the most likely, is that he’s just an ex of Blitz’s at the party who saw an opportunity and took it.
As we can see from when Blitz and Stolas first enter the room, IncuBlitz is already standing in perfect line of sight of where they sat down to have their conversation.
Tumblr media
Considering that IncuBlitz doesn’t pop in until over five minutes later, when Stolas is breaking down, I think his intention was genuinely just to ‘rescue’ Stolas from the person who was making him upset.
Tumblr media
It does beg the question though: Was his primary motivation to help out Blitz’s “freshest ex”? Or did it have more to do with the fact that the person bothering Stolas was actually Blitz?
There’s definitely no question that he does know that Stolas is the ‘freshest ex.’ He explicitly mentions Stolas’ song, saying that he has “great pipes,” where Stolas had been introduced by Verosika as the “special new guest of honor.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But did he recognize Blitz? And if so, at what point?
As with Verosika, there are several times throughout the night when anyone could have noticed and recognized Blitz. But in addition to those mentioned earlier, there’s one moment in particular that I think kicked off the events that followed. During the scene where Stolas stands up on the couch, yelling, “Harriot! Don’t get on that train. It’s going to London, and I cannot be without you!” there’s at least one moment where Blitz’s full outfit is exposed. Not only was this in that same line of sight from where we’d originally seen IncuBlitz, but we can also see that the people he’d been standing next to, both turned to look directly at Stolas.
Tumblr media
Whether or not he recognized Blitz in that moment, I do think it’s the moment that his attention was brought to Stolas and where it seems to have remained.
While it is possible that he was no longer standing in that exact spot anymore, we do know for a fact that he was still nearby.
Because 15 seconds later, when the point of view changes to Blitz, you can actually see IncuBlitz in the background, just a few feet away.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This places him well within earshot when Stolas wails at Blitz that he doesn’t want him there and to please go home, followed by a moment of distressed weeping.
Even then, we don’t actually see IncuBlitz pop in until it’s clear that Blitz is not only choosing to stay, but is also about to try engaging with Stolas further.
Tumblr media
It’s at this point that not only does he interrupt them, but he explicitly does not look at nor react to Blitz throughout the entire exchange. In fact, it’s actually noted as an intentional detail in the official storyboard. Storyboard artist Tony Raphielle uploaded clips of this to YouTube three days after the episode was released.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They even noted in the video description that for this scene, the voice actors' performance was based on what was blocked out on the storyboard.
This is the reverse of how their earlier conversation was handled. For that scene, the voice acting was recorded first, with the storyboards being drawn afterward.
This leaves me even further convinced that IncuBlitz’s behavior and timing, from beginning to end, was very carefully crafted by the Spindlehorse team.
Tumblr media
And finally, let’s discuss the kiss that shook Blitz, and many of us in the fandom, to the core.
Now, obviously, we can’t know at what point, if at all, that IncuBlitz recognized Blitz specifically as the person who was bothering Stolas.
But I personally feel confident that by the time he looked up at Blitz, right before that kiss, he knew exactly who he was messing with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because honestly, the entire context of the party would make it almost impossible for IncuBlitz to not have recognized him.
First and foremost, there’s the fact that Stolas’ invitation implies that the people in attendance either dated or at least had a brief encounter with Blitz.
There’s also imagery of Blitz plastered all over the place, with the exact same outfit that he wore to this party.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And if IncuBlitz somehow managed to miss recognizing him before whisking Stolas off to the dance floor, it would feel downright comical to me if he still did not recognize Blitz while he was up on the balcony.
Because not only is the tablecloth hanging open, revealing his signature outfit, but Blitz had also taken down his hood, leaving his hard-to-miss horns and unique forehead tattoo exposed to anyone who looked up.
Tumblr media
Either way, the fact that IncuBlitz looked up at the person that he perceived to be bothering Stolas, right before he kissed him, in my opinion, was definitely intentional and personal.
And it’s entirely possible that it’s actually just as simple as that.
After digging into this and doing my best to analyze and consider all of the evidence, I personally think it’s the most likely explanation. That he was just someone at the party who saw an opportunity to help out Stolas and stick it to Blitz.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am super curious though, to see if the show mentions IncuBlitz going forward and under what circumstances.
Considering that his canonical name in the credits is “Better Than Blitzo” Guy, I think it’s safe to assume that this will not be a recurring character.
Tumblr media
I do hope that we at least get to hear if his interaction with Stolas ended on the dance floor or if they actually ended up spending the night, or several nights, together.
I will definitely be surprised if we don’t see at least one awkward moment between Blitz and Stolas related to this. Even if it’s just a nonverbal decision to not talk about that just yet.

ARTICLE/WRITING
My week: Peter Capaldi
Sun 31 Dec 2006 03.20 CET
Driven on by the spirit of Hemingway and van Gogh, the star of The Thick of It ponders his life and even tries some clothes shopping. Thwarted at every turn, he finally finds comfort in YouTube
Having been asked to do this My Week diary, I seek guidance and ask The Observer for an example - maybe last year's column for the same period, because the festive week is, after all, an odd one in which nothing much really happens work-wise. But how wrong I am. Stephen Daldry's dizzying account of last year has him jetsetting from opening to opening while trying to avoid the ever-growing pile of film scripts that threatens to entomb him.
Well, I could say that Christmas in LA was a bit lonely, so thank god for Helen Mirren's annual do, which, sadly, I left in disgrace after drinking too much and blocking her sink with chunky barf, but I'm afraid I can't because it's just not true. It was Christmas in north London, as usual, which I spent shuffling around supermarkets, fretting about my spectacular weight gain and drinking at every conceivable opportunity.
The family takes a festive trip to the theatre to see Stomp, a show we feel we've discovered, a mere 15 years after everyone else. It's a great show, with a lot going for it. Including no actors. Which is a relief, as, at this time of year, the theatres are full of the RSC's finest, insisting on letting us know that yes, although they are indeed, very, very serious actors, they are also very, very funny ones too. Instead, it's just a lot of Australian-looking people banging things off of each other and making as much noise as possible.
It does cross my mind that I've paid a small fortune for this racket when I could just have gone into any one of my local cafes and listened to all the toddlers banging their Cybermen's heads off the tables.
When I first came to London, I loved hanging around in cafes, smoking, scribbling, dreaming. It was life-affirming and fun. Like Stomp. But Big Cappuccino has turned the humble frothy coffee into something else.
Today, once I'd bought my medium-sized bowl of coffee and struggled to a seat through the gridlock of baby buggies the size of Humvees, something nasty happened. As I opened my moleskin notebook cum sketchpad ('as used by Ernest Hemingway and Vincent van Gogh' as the blurb tells me) to get down to some serious work on my latest film no one will make, I momentarily looked up to see, dotted between the strung-out mothers, a lot of other guys momentarily looking up from their moleskin notebooks cum sketchpads, all of whom look almost identical to me, down to the big, stupid Charles Saatchi-type glasses. I'm consumed by self-loathing.
I'm a big, well-read fan of van Gogh, but I've never come across any mention of the moleskin notebook cum sketchpad in any of his biogs. And given that he was so very poor and unsuccessful, how could he afford one? Perhaps it's in one of the more obscure letters to his brother Theo: 'Could you get me one of those moleskin notebooks cum sketchpads? Gauguin had one and it looked really cool; he said there's a shop down Montmartre where they do them a bit cheaper. Can you get me one with the storyboard frames in it because if things don't work out as an artist, I might go into commercials.' And since when did a notebook need a blurb?
I'm clothes shopping in Selfridges. On my own. (Something I do very rarely on account of being organised enough, some years ago, to marry a woman who does it all for me.) Which is dangerous, as I often make very big mistakes, thinking I can 'carry off' something when I can't. Like when I bought the Vivienne Westwood combo of sexy high-waisters and 70s style tank-top.
So I'm nervous. The shop assistants don't help as they are all doing some retro ironic John Inman thing or being Russell Brand. There is so much stuff here. Most of the world has nothing, so what's all this doing here? I'm getting sweaty and can feel the air heating up inside my trouser legs, so it's time to go.
Euston Station. Our nephew has been staying with us for a week, but now it's time for him to go back to Scotland. It's taken me years to realise that when I say 'back to Scotland', our English friends visualise us in a Hogwartsy Highland landscape, knocking about a vaguely industrialised version of Greyfriar's Bobby, exchanging knowing folksy banter with the Proclaimers.
I once worked with an actress who was both the star of an American soap opera and a member of a European royal family (work that one out) who, upon hearing I came from Scotland, asked me how many sheep I had. Our truth is more nicotine coloured, featuring high-rise blocks, decaying steel towns, alcohol and pasty-faced youths in thin sports gear.
Aeryn is 14 and comes from a 'village' near Glasgow. He's bright and clever and has done very well to survive the Joshes and Berties and Lilys he's been thrown in with recently, not least because of the great support of our daughter, Cissy. But now it's time for him to go.
This station, this journey, has been part of our life for years, especially my wife, Elaine, who has spent increasing time in these trains and stations delivering loving and dutiful care to her dad. Bill died seven weeks ago. My dad, Gerry, died just last year. We have family and friends up there who we will continue to see, but as the numbers diminish, so the balance of duty and connection tips away from the place. And you realise that there will come a time when there's very little to take you there any longer.
Christmas is delightful. Great gifts. I get copies of Ridley Scott storyboards from Blade Runner which make this old movie geek very happy, and The Mighty Boosh Live, as requested, from Cissy. See pals, eat and drink lots. I'm very content.
Then we move into the hinterlands that lead to New Year's Eve. We always make a big thing of celebrating New Year's Eve because of our deep Celtic tradition and love of alcohol.
But before then, a bit of a breather from the festivities and the chance to be passed from call centre to call centre trying to get my daughter's broken mobile fixed. I end up at Motorola with some Northern Irish guy who is really pissed off (surely that's my job?). It's all made worse by the fact that he's venting his spleen at me entirely tonally - politely phrased but full of contempt. Now that's cruel. Anyway, I keep my cool. But he gets the last word, tonally. However Motorola loses my business.
I've been working on an episode of Tales of the Unexpected for ITV and have not met one person who didn't think it was a great idea to bring the series back. But I delivered that a week ago and since then have done nothing but eat and drink. Repulsed by my idleness, I decide it's time for action and get down to some serious fretting about my acting career. I'm sure Michael Sheen must be spending his week working on an uncanny portrayal of Rod Hull and Emu or someone while I'm just sitting around growing breasticles.
I blame it on YouTube. It's too good. I love the one of that guy getting sucked into a jet engine plus anything to do with Christopher Walken. But today, I ended up spending two hours watching dozens of videos of guys playing along to the guitar solo from 'Stairway to Heaven' at various levels of competence. Best two hours I've spent in years.
And better than most I've spent in the theatre. I'm sure if Shakespeare were alive today, he'd be doing classic guitar solos on YouTube.
The Thick Of It Special, Tues, BBC 4, 10.30pm
The Life: Born in Glasgow 1958. Studied painting and illustration at the Glasgow School of Art . Married to Elaine; daughter Cissy.
The Work: As an actor, many film and TV appearances, including Local Hero, Dangerous Liaisons, Magicians on TV, Prime Suspect, Peep Show, The Crow Road, Aftersun, Pinochet's Progress, The Thick of It. Wrote and directed the feature film Strictly Sinatra and Oscar-and Bafta-winning short Franz Kafka's It's a Wonderful Life

Monika Marchewka (Polish, b. 1988)
Mirror, 2023
Oil on canvas
39 2/5 × 35 2/5 × 1 1/5 in | 100 × 90 × 3 cm
Monika Marchewka’s enchanted, ultra-feminine paintings are filled with cotton-candy clouds, pearlescent seashells, and shimmering bodies of water: the stuff of girlhood daydreams. But despite their splendid environs, Marchewka’s women subjects seem unsettled, caught in surreal moments of transition or uncertainty; they’re often crying, tears adorning their faces like jewels. Frequently employing the same motifs, Marchewka’s paintings act as storyboards—an unsurprising approach, given the artist’s background in film. A graduate of the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, she worked as an animator, including on the 2017 feature film Loving Vincent, before turning to painting full time. Any lore for your oc and her relationship w/ muds? 🥒🥒
AHAH oh god, it’s rough.
It’s like an enemies -> kinda friends -> friends -> friends with benefits -> lovers for a very brief time -> bitter exes -> coworkers and friends (with sometimes benefits) -> strangers
More under the cut
It’s complicated and nothing really ends well. They started out as apartment neighbors pre-gorillaz in 95/96-ish, and they HATED each other. (This takes place in London btw because I like to think that she frequented Rick Black’s Record Shack often. I know he was in Stoke in canon, but I also think Murdoc could potentially live in different cities or towns during his search for potential band members or his many questionable and odd jobs. At least right before Phase 1).
Until she went to one of his failed gigs and offered a cigarette to console him for getting booed off stage. On a whim, she invited him to her gallery show, which also was a failure because the gallery printed the wrong date on the flier. He was the only one who showed up because he remembered the correct date. They started hanging out, then fucking around until they decided to start dating. But it was an on and off relationship cuz his priority is to become famous and honestly he’s pretty scummy. Murdoc moved back to Stoke, and I think she’d move elsewhere too.
Eventually she dumps him for good and they go on their separate ways until he reaches out to her on D Day after getting arrested and tries to convince her to bail him out (he lied saying he was framed and he was just a pedestrian walking by LMAO). She does not bail him out. But she does hang around because she found out he has to take care of Stuart and she knows that Murdoc is NOT a reliable caretaker. She doesn’t try to involve herself too much though since they’re exes and it’s just overall weird for her. Eventually, Murdoc offers her a job at Kong Studios to be a storyboard artist since she’s been stuck working a couple of shitty minimum wage jobs and despite him being an asshole, he does care about her as a friend at least. She ends up taking the job but is only around for phase 1 and 2 because Murdoc’s inflated ego when he reaches fame is hard for her to be around. There’s a lot of tension between them (sexual/anger/sometimes romantic but that’s very rare) during this time while she’s trying to be professional and do her work. After the tabloids found out they used to be a thing and took that out of context photo, it really strains a lot of things because she didn’t want to be in the spotlight, especially as being known as his ex. She gets harassed by paparazzi and he doesn’t care too much.
There comes a point where she has enough and she got a great art gig out of it, so she leaves him. This is around the time when Noodle “passed” and the movie failed to happen and his whole band is falling apart. So Murdoc has this psychotic breakdown and flies to Mexico. All the while he’s in denial that she left him for good and keeps calling her phone to leave voicemails of how angry he is, how much he misses her, updates on where he’s at, etc etc. She never picks up and eventually blocks his number from calling. I should mention that during this breakdown, he’s convinced that she’ll come back and stick around like she always does and for some reason thinks she’ll meet him in Mexico.
She moves back to the states and goes to rehab all the while. They eventually meet each other again years and years down the line, but she’s married and he never forgot her. (Those love songs on plastic beach are about her). They never end up together, but at least there’s closure.
Tumblr media
This is their dynamic btw. Out of all of them, they’re the most like Bojack and Diane.

Practice 1
assignment 6, concept art - concept and storyboards
. Blog post 01
This assignment requires us to create a storyboard with 6-10 panels. We need to use these panels to effectively tell a story, and I believe the choice of the story is crucial.
I plan to illustrate the storyboard for the science fiction flash fiction story "Knock."
"Knock" is a science fiction short story by American writer Fredric Brown. It begins with a piece of Flash fiction based on the following passage by Thomas Bailey Aldrich:
"Imagine all human beings swept off the face of the earth, excepting one man. Imagine this man in some vast city, New York or London. Imagine him on the third or fourth day of his solitude sitting in a house and hearing a ring at the door-bell!"
Fredric Brown condensed this text into "a sweet little action story that is only two sentences long". "Knock" then goes on to elaborate on those two sentences and build a more complete plot around them.
The first two lines are a complete story by themselves:
“The last man on Earth sat alone in a room. There was a knock on the door ...“
It was published in the December 1948 issue of Thrilling Wonder Stories. There have been three different radio adaptations (Dimension X, X Minus One and Sci Fi Channel's Seeing Ear Theatre). The story was reprinted in The Best Science Fiction Stories: 1949.
Knock (short story) - Wikipedia
I believe that every storyboard creator should have the awareness that, when crafting a storyboard, the most crucial aspects are not the intricacy of individual frames but rather:
1. The coherence of the story
2. The readability of the story
3. The completeness of visual information
Novel media differs fundamentally from visual media such as movies, television, comics, etc., in that visual media possess the immediacy and concreteness of visual presentation.
For example, in a movie depicting a bar scene, the audience can even see the brand of each bottle. When a large amount of visual information rapidly enters the audience's brain, artists need to assist in filtering and guide the audience's emotions and feelings. Guidance methods include lighting, camera focus, composition, and so on.
I read a book called "framed ink", which is a tutorial book that teaches Visual Storytellers how to draw and tell stories.
Mateu-Mestre, M. (2010) Framed ink: drawing and composition for visual storytellers. Culver City: Design Studio Press.
Author Marcos Mateu Mestre in "framed ink":
Let's not forget that when we are talking about visual storytelling, the image is the vehicle and not the end in itself.
We cannot afford to get the audience stuck on a particular frame just because the drawing or the scene looks great without a specific purpose for it within the story.
Obviously we aim to produce the best quality art, but we should prioritize the following:
• What are we trying to say in our narration as a whole?
• What mood do we want our audience to be in throughout the story and at any given time within a specific sequence or shot?
What is the function of this moment within the story?
• How are we going to take our audience there?
• What in our drawing is contributing to the general statement?
• What can we leave out without changing what we are trying to say?
I think these points are the most important for Visual Storytellers.

that is all for now~

8, 22, 36 pls
8: Want any tattoos?
Without spoiling nr.7: yes, pretty sure I do, and I already had some ideas, but I forgot about them, so apparently they weren't good enough to actually become actual tattoos :D
22: What I want to be when I get older
I'd love to be a full time artist some day, I just don't know what kind, because it still needs to be a job I can earn enough money in. Storyboard artist would be fun and something I could manage, I think
36: Where I would like to live
already answered (I also really like London, but I believe I'd think differently about that, if I'd actually live there)

James Holden - Imagine This Is A High Dimensional Space Of All Possibilities
“I wanted this to be my most open record, uncynical, naive, unguarded, the record teenage me wanted to make,” says electronic explorer James Holden of his generically unconstrained new album of rave music for a parallel universe 'Imagine This Is A High Dimensional Space Of All Possibilities'. “I used to balance my clock-radio on a wardrobe to catch the faint pirate FM signals from the nearest city, dreaming of what raves would be like when I could finally escape and become a New Age traveller. So it’s like a dream of rave, a fantasy about a transformative music culture that would make the world better. I guess it’s also a dialogue with that teenage me.” Standing in contrast to the expanded band and live take recordings of its predecessor 'The Animal Spirits' (“Dramatic, colourful and Holden’s fullest-sounding work yet” 9/10 Loud And Quiet), Holden’s fourth solo artist album is more of a continuous sound collage, artfully juxtaposing audio worlds in his own inimitable manner, with a respectful hat tip to the pastoral classics of his early nineties youth (notable mentions to The KLF’s timeless 'Chill Out', and the sprawling radio soundscapes of Future Sound of London). But where his first wave forebears pilfered freely from the history of recorded music to date, Holden’s sample sources are custom generated, drawn from recordings of his own performances on the modular synth, keyboard, organ and piano plus the lesser explored drones of his childhood violin, cut-up bass guitar, overblown recorder, all manner of percussive trinkets and the serendipity of the odd field recording, as well as guest contributions from various members of the wider Animal Spirits live family: long-time touring companion drummer Tom Page, tabla-championing percussionist Camilo Tirado, multi-instrumentalist for hire Marcus Hamblett (here, on double bass and guitar) and saxophonist Christopher Duffin (on loan from Xam Duo and Virginia Wing). 'Imagine This Is A High Dimensional Space of All Possibilities' will be released via Holden’s own proudly DIY Border Community label on 31st March 2023, on double vinyl, CD, digital download and streaming. For the album’s distinctive hand drawn artwork and accompanying twelve page comic booklet insert, Holden called upon Amsterdam-based illustrator and musician Jorge Velez to help flesh out the visual component of the immersive fantasy world that is conjured up in 'Imagine This Is A High Dimensional Space of All Possibilities'. The result is a twelve panel storyboard (one per track) documenting the rave rituals of an alternative reality populated by magical creatures, which owes much to the pair’s shared love of the soothing retro-futurist colour palettes of the late and truly great French cartoonist Moebius (included in pdf form exclusively with Bandcamp downloads).
