"The Sign In Sidney Brustein's Window" at the former Cort Theatre, now the James Earl Jones Theatre deals with a married couple that live in the West Village in New York City. Sidney has closed closed his fold nightclub and is taking over a weekly newspaper called "The Village Cryer". He doesn't want it to be political and here lies the problem that is twofold.
Lorraine Hansberry (Raisin in the Sun" never digs into what could have been a great story if it was written differently. The play takes place in the 60's, a time when the West Village was a hot bed of politics a revolutionary thought. In "Window", we get a smattering of political thought; Alton Scales (Julian De Niro), and Max (Raphael Thompson). But like the writing itself we never get anything of substance.
In Sidney (Oscar Isaac) we get a self absorbed, insulting individual. He treats people with such rudeness in his words. We cannot figure out how his wife Iris (Rachel Brosnanhan) puts up with him. He uses her for his amusement. What is even more confusing is that he is not an accomplished man, in fact, he seems like a failure.
While the two lead actors are good in this play, Miriam Silverman as Mavis steals the show. The other supporting cast is weak and uninspiring. The writing in this two hour forty five minute show circles and circles but never lands anywhere of significance. The show has many lulls in it, like "Raisin in the Sun", it gets very wordy and leaves us drifting away from the play.
The direction by Anne Kauffman is as uninspiring as the writing. The set is constant throughout. It supports the image of a West Village apartment, but isn't anything that is overly spectacular. The costume design doesn't really capture the period. Other than Max, sometimes Sidney and Mavis, the costumes never put us in that period in which it was written for. The lighting is deeper than it appears, the colors used in the play are mostly washed out. It gives the effect of the drab period that is most of the characters lives.
Unlike "Raisin in the Sun", Hansberry never brings a finality the the show. While we see the characters inner secrets, their fears and weaknesses and their willingness to settle, she never brings an ending story to tie out the play. Like a lot of the actors in this show, this play does not belong on Broadway and should have stayed at the BAM.
.........................................................................................................................
"Summer of 1976".
In David Auburn's play at the Friedman Theatre we get two really good actors. In Laura Linney who plays Diana (Little Foxes, Ozark) you always get a first rate performance. Here she plays an uptight intellect who has family money. She is as vulnerable as she is confident as a mother, artist and knowledgeable about the finer things in the world. In Jessica Hecht you get a woman who is comfortable in who she is. She doesn't have the grace that Diana does, but she too is an educated woman who dotes on here child.
The play is ninety minutes long and without intermission. It can be slow at times but for the most part it is a well written play. Director Dan Sullivan never has us feeling to badly for the characters but he does bring many feelings to the body of work. At times we feel sorry for Alice, at other times we laugh at her. The same can be said for Diana, however, her strong character never has us feeling sorry for her as she is a woman in control regardless of any adversity that she comes across.
In the plays scenic design, John Lee Beatty does an admirable job with the set. The stage is well funtionable in that we get a modern feel when the two actors are talking to the audience (they very rarely address each other). When the main set is opened by the lights, we see a warm, friendly trees in the backdrop. In the end we get a wonderful image of an art gallery.
Japhy Weidman does a very nice support to this play. While for the most part the lights are warm and give us an open feel. Hana S. Kim's projection design also supprts the show with an understatement. The costume design by Linda Cho however makes no sense. I can't understand why Linney is in all black. Her personality in this play does not warrant her character in all black. It simply doesn't fit her personality in the show to be clad in all black. Hecht's outfit too doesn't suit her character. She has a simple, hippie type of dress with expensive boots to go with it.
"Summer of 1976" is worth seeing. It is about a brief friendship over the course of three months. The two could not be more opposite but they become fast friends. They support each other on a superficial level; they begin to rely on one another in a very brief period of their lives. While the writing is not deep, it moves along through time neatly.
Laura Linney, Summer 1976, The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window, James Earl Jones, "A Raisin in the Sun, Hansberry, Jessica Hecht, Broadway, Tony Awards, Oscar Issac, Rachel Brosnahan, Friedman Theatre, John Lee Beatty, Daniel Sullivan, Some Like it Hot, Funny Girl, swmnimbus.org, Metropolitan Magazine, Mann About Town.

Scott Wadeabout 12 hours agoInteresting review. I can only imagine how vibrant West Village was in the 60’s and the disappointment that it wasn’t captured on the stage. Lost opportunity? Summer of ‘76 would be interesting as that was the year I graduated High school and first met the world on my own. Thank you for the insightful reviews.Read moreReply

EctoplasimThe Plot Gets Lost in The Séance "Ectoplasm" By Spit and Vigor has many good things working for it. The set and sound by Florence Scagliarini are first rate and so is some of the acting. The gothic set matches The Players Theatre like it was the theaters living room. Both the set and theater give off a "cool vibe". Like the last show put on at The Players by Spit and Vigor (The Wake of Dorcas Kelly), the audience was treated to the same gothic feel and the same undertone of a show that is Avant Garde in writing and design. Unlike "Dorcas", however, "Ectoplasm" is not well written. The show is billed as two woman who work together as mediums: Sara Marshall (Jillian Cicalese) and Kaye Schultz (Caitlin Dullahan-Bates). Sara fully believes in what she does and the life as a medium; Kaye is distraught in that she believes that they are charlatans and do nothing to help people.RMMByRobert M Massimi.about a year ago in Humans

Getting the F%ck back out there. We've all been there, after a relationship ends and we've taken some time to heal. We decide that it's probably time to get back out there....Maybe. It's a scary situation! Putting yourself out there again after being treated like shit. Because we have to figure out what it is that we want from our next relationship. Sure we don't want someone like what we had, but what do we want? I want something very specific and I'm not sure I'll find it. I want to be with someone whose my best friend. I want to belt out music in the car, give them weirdo gifts we joked about months ago, I want to have inside jokes with them. I want to pull up to their house with a car full of snacks and rock music and surprise them with a day at the beach. But most importantly I need to feel safe with that person. If you've read any of my other pieces you'll know I was in an abusive relationship for 6 years. So naturally I'm going to need to feel safe with someone and be able to trust them. This is hard for me. Especially in this hookup culture we seem to be living in. Nobody wants to do any of that special stuff anymore. All they want to do is f%ck and leave. That's not a relationship. I want to actually have a relationship with someone. I want to wake up feeling safe and with a phone full of good morning messages if we're not together. Of course I'd have boundaries like no talking or hanging out with the opposite gender alone. I don't think that's unfair. I think not settling until you find that right person is the best thing you can do. Sure nobodies perfect, but we can't just settle with the first person that's nice to us. Maybe they aren't right for us. Just because someones good to you, doesn't necessarily mean there good for you. That's something I feel like people don't really understand. And frankly it took me a while to understand as well. You need to find someone whose both. I do say quite often that I'm never dating again. And while that may be true! I do want to point out that I've done some reflecting and came to the conclusion that IF someone came along and they fit all of my boundaries and standards, MAYBE I would give them a chance. But with that being said, it may never happen. I may never find someone. I may in fact be single forever and that's not a bad thing. I can still achieve all my dreams without someone in my life. I'd require a lot of patience and reassurance and care. I don't think that's something a lot of people would necessarily be equiped to do. Maybe I need to do some more healing before I get back out there. There is really no rush! We have our whole lives to find someone if that's in the cards for us! We don't need to have someone in our lives to be happy. You need to complete yourself, don't expect someone to complete you! That's unrealistic. Sure you want someone to compliment you but expecting them to complete you is too much. Being upfront with what you want and what you're willing to accept and not willing to accept is something we all need to do. Don't settle for anything less then you deserve. Remember this one thing that we all need to know and it's fairly simple: Never think that almost is good enough for you.ANByAmanda Nicole4 days ago in Humans

how about a reddie barn party?
“a barn party?”
“yeah.”
“well what is it?”
mike looks at stan. stan looks at bill. bill, wide-eyed, looks back and forth between the two of them.
“it’s… a party. in a barn.” stan speaks slowly, though the corner of his mouth twitches like he’s trying desperately not to smile.
“well i nuh-know that,” bill says in exasperation, and mike lets out a breath he didn’t know he was holding and laughs, relieved. he knows bill is smart, he knows—the good grades and power essays will prove it—but sometimes bill’s brain cells took vacations. sometimes bill would write the coolest shit in creative writing class: the kinda shit that mike and bev and richie (so, by proxy, eddie as well) liked to read. horror stories, like the slasher films the losers stayed up to watch (ben and stan preferred anything but horror), though bill has a habit of adding corny romantic subplots that appealed more to ben than anyone else. bill would write those, would blow the whole loser’s club away with those, and then turn around and introduce himself as dilliam benbrough.
his braincells took vacations, but they always came back.
“i meant what is it fuh-for?”
mike shrugs. “for fun.”
“why, do you have other plans that day, bill?” stan crosses his arms, and bill grins.
“i’m in. on wuh-one condition.”
* * *
“are you kidding me?” eddie scowls. “cowboy attire mandatory?”
“i don’t know why you’re complaining, eds; it’s your fantasy come true. i have two words for you, bro.” richie strikes a pose and the sound of his hand slapping against his thigh is too loud in the small space of the clubhouse. “assless. chaps.”
“take it back, bill, please.” eddie looks at bill helplessly, but bill’s too busy flipping through a Sears catalogue to see it.
“shuh-should i get classic brown leather style boots? or should i g-go for a buh-bold black instead?”
bev leans over his shoulder and points to an image on the sheet, her nail polish still wet. “these. they’ll match that plaid you got at the thrifty mart today.”
eddie turns to mike, eyes desperate, but mike just shrugs.
“i’ve been looking for a reason to wear my cowboy hat. sorry eddie.”
richie slaps his thigh again and raises his eyebrows suggestively at eddie. “c’mon cowboy. saddle up, eddie, we’re goin’ full gay cowboy. wanna share a tent with m—.”
eddie, red with fury (and flushed with embarrassment) punches richie’s shoulder. richie cackles, and cackles, until eddie’s pout twists like he’s holding back his own giggles; until stan turns to mike with a flat look and asks if they can be uninvited.
“we need eight to square dance, stan.”
eddie stops mid-tousle with richie and squawks. “we have to dance?”
bill looks up from his magazine and sighs. “it’s a barn party eddie.”
eddie flips him off, and this time they all laugh.
* * *
“oh my god.”
“wow.”
“holy shit, benny boy!” richie puts his hands on his hips and slowly turns in a circle, surveying the empty barn. “you out-fuckin’-did yourself, now!”
“richie tozier!” calls a warning voice from the corner, and jessica hanlon gives him the stink eye from thirty feet away. “you watch your mouth while i’m around.”
richie holds up an apologetic hand, though his mouth quivers with the shadow of a smile. “you got it, mrs. h!”
“nice, richie,” bev smirks. she turns to ben. “seriously ben, this place looks incredible.”
the lights were the hardest part: stringing them up in the rafters, wrapping them around the old wood and across the walls… ben had suffered his share of splinters and spider encounters. it’s a big barn too, and ben’s hands were sweaty from the early june heatwaves (and nerves from the spider encounters). but he’d managed, with the help of mike and his uncle, and now the whole barn was strung with fairy lights and chinese lanterns.
“it’s dreamy,” bev says, looking ben in the eye as she does. “romantic.”
ben goes as crimson as the barn and looks at his feet.
“thanks bev.”
“are you guys gonna’ help set-up or just stand there like raisins on a celery stick?” jessica stands behind the group now, a sheen of sweat on her forehead. “your poor friend is struggling over there and you all are looking at the lights like a bunch of moths.”
mike turns to where bill’s currently putting up the big banner he and bev painted. well, trying to put up the banner. actually, struggling is really the word he’s looking for. every time bill would get one side taped up he’d walk to the other, but just as he’d get that corner taped down the first side would fall again. mike bites his lip and tries not to smile too wide.
they all stand there for another few seconds, watching bill continue to struggle, before mike shakes his head and jogs over to help.
“oh!” bill says as mike pressed his palm to the paper to keep it up as bill fought with the tape dispenser. “th-thanks, mikey.”
“no problem, bill.” mike watches bill attempt to rip the tape with his teeth. “are you going to the barn party with anyone?”
bill pauses, looks up at mike with the strip of tape still in his mouth. “uhh. the rest of yuh-you guys?”
“i meant as a date.” mike’s face is perfectly calm, but the cage of his rib bones shakes noisily with the thumping of his heart. “are you, you know, going with anyone?”
bill starts fighting with the tape again. “uh, n-no.”
“do you want to go with me?”
bill manages to rip off the tape he needs, and finally secures the poster. mike steps back cautiously from the wall, just in case it decides to fall again. nothing moves. mike looks back to bill, who still hasn’t answered.
“yes. yuh-yeah.” bill smiles, a soft thing, and nods. “that’d be awesome, mikey.”
“cool,” mike says, feeling very, very cool. “very cool.”
* * *
“whoa, eds, slow down—eddie, damn, what’re you running for?” richie’s keeping up pretty easily with his long legs and therefore long strides, but eddie’s practically jogging at this point and soon richie’s going to have to do the same. “what’s goin’ on, cowboy?”
“don’t cowboy me,” eddie grumbles, his boots making a little click click with every step as the fake spurs tapped against the sidewalk.
richie stops. “eds, are you mad at me?” eddie’s still walking, albeit a little slower now. “eddie.”
“i’m not mad!” eddie says, madly, though he stops walking too. “i’m just. i’m. ugh!” eddie makes a little noise of frustration and richie tries desperately not to feel so fucking fond about it. “why didn’t you ask me to go with you to the barn party?”
if richie wasn’t already frozen to the spot, that would’ve knocked him out cold. “wh… what? whaddya mean? i’m here, with you, right— “
“but you didn’t ask. you just showed up unannounced like you always do.”
“well yeah that’s just how it is—”
“but why didn’t you ask?” eddie turns, sparks of red on high cheekbones turned orange in the lamplight. he looks like a puppy, ears turned down and big brown eyes hiding sadness under the brow of anger that covered it. the pieces clicked together in richie’s head.
“oh. ohhh. i get it.” richie shoves his hands in his pockets. “you wanted to be romanced.”
“that is not what i said.”
richie takes a few steps forward. “you wanted me to get down on one knee and lend you my kerchief as an invite to the debutante ball.” richie, playing up the western twang he’s taken on, over-pronounces every syllable in debutante. eddie scoffs to hide the beginning of a laugh.
“shut up richie, i was just saying—“
“well, mistah edward j. kaspbrak—
“don’t call me that.”
“— would you do me the honor of bein’ my pardner—“
“i hate you.”
“and accompanyin’ me to the hanlon barn party so i don’t haf’ta ride solo tonight?”
richie’s got his hand cupped under eddie’s chin by now, and the other arm curled loosely around eddie’s waist. in the early twilight glow, richie’s eyes shine with amusement and something else; something that’s always wrapped in every glance sent eddie’s way. love, probably, though eddie’s still scared to say it and richie’s no better. sometimes richie knows he’s in love but he also knows he was in love last year, and the year before, and the year before that one, and every year that goes by richie’s love feels deeper and stronger and real-er. richie used to think love was a peak at the top of a mountain of feelings but being with eddie has him thinking that maybe it isn’t, that maybe love is just a mountain and richie never wants to stop climbing.
“yes, asshole, of course i want to go to the barn party with you.” eddie’s not even trying to look angry anymore. richie wants to kiss him, and he goes to do so, but the oversized rims of their cowboy hats bump together and it makes them both laugh.
“gay cowboys sure have it rough, huh?” richie asks. “let’s try that again.” then he tilts his hat back, leans down, and kisses Eddie properly.
* * *
the lights looked good in the day, but they look downright magical in the dark of night. there’s still a purple tint to the sky, leftover from the stretched out sunset, and though there’s no cracks in the roof to see the stars through, they cast a foggy glow on the grass outside.
the music is loud, but not too loud, and cheerful, but not overtly so. dancing music, is what it is, and most people are inside making the most out of it. stan’s in there with patty, mike knows—he’d seen them spinning circles around everyone else. mike knows for a fact stan doesn’t take dancing lessons, but the way he and patty swing and dance with such ease and grace makes you think it was practiced. mike just thinks that true love shows in the way you move together. you can always see it in the way people dance. it’s about… well, richie and eddie have it too, and richie’s got two left feet and a tragic lack of the “being able to take things seriously” bone.
it’s in the way they look at each other, though, the way eddie’s face pulls into a joyous adoration when richie spins him around the room obnoxiously even though he’s telling richie to put me down, put me down! it’s in the way bev brushes her fingers against ben’s when he hands her a cup of punch, and the way ben’s knee lingers when bev’s knee rests against his where they sit on the bench; like every touch is infinite, and worth every second. it’s in the way stan holds patty as they dance, like she’s something to be held, and the way patty holds him just the same.
fuck, mike knows he’s only eighteen, but he knows what love, true love, looks like.
“the p-party is inside,” bill says. an adjacent thought to mike’s last, suddenly here before him: bill, in all his plaid and leather fringe glory. mike’s heart, a racehorse poised at the startling line, takes off.
“i needed a break from the line dancing. your mom is kicking my ass.” it’s true. ms. denbrough sure knows how to country-shake it.
“she was muh-more excited for this than i was,” bill jokes, and then walks the rest of the way from the barn to the edge of the field where mike is standing.
“you look good.” it’s a bit sudden, maybe, but that thought evaporates when bill lights up with a shy smile. “the cowboy look suits you.”
“thuh-thanks, mikey.” bill’s hand twitches, like he’s going to reach out, but it stays at his side. “your shirt. it’s a g-good shirt.”
nice one, denbrough. bill makes a face.
“i mean yuh-you look strong it it. i mean, handsome. and strong, tuh-too.” bill’s bright pink, and mike couldn’t think him any cuter. “yuh-you know what i mean.”
“i wear this shirt all the time,” mike says, just to see if bill will flush darker. he does.
“yuh-yeah, i know.”
mike’s eyes flick to the barn and back. out here, the music is muffled, but mike can still tell hear andy williams crooning his familiar tune from the speakers inside.
“do you want to dance with me, bill?”
bill’s hand twitches again. “out here?”
mike nods. bill nods, and mike bets his heart is knocking against his ribs just as hard as the one in mike’s chest. mike offers his hand, and bill takes it, and the next moment mike’s got bill denbrough against his chest as they sway to the easy beat of moon river.
it’s in the way bill steps on my feet, mike thinks. it’s in the way he apologizes every time, even when i just laugh and promise him it’s okay. it’s in the way he keeps apologizing, cheeks flushed and hands curled around mike’s arms, until mike kisses him quiet.
it’s in the way that mike’s only eighteen, but he knows what love, true love, feels like.

Season 2 Information
Here we go again...
“Here we go again…”
Welcome back to Mixedverse!
The previous server ended awhile back, but due to prolonged interest in the AU and people wanting to do more for it, we’ve rebooted it! It’s a bit different now, though.
When we began the last server, most people didn’t really understand how things worked or exactly what was happening. Our biggest misunderstanding was assuming that MV (Mirrorverse) characters were being brought into the NV (Normalverse) world, rather then them both being merged into a middle ground.
Although that is still our official lore for this AU, we decided for the RP server we would go along with it! So…
For our AU, it’s the opposite of that.
The characters from the NV world have been sucked into the MV world, while going about their business. All you have to do to get there is blink.
Other Changes:
The most important changes have been to the application and muse receiving processes.
Applications for the most part have stayed the same, however there’s a new concept called muse lock that we’re using.
There are short periods where muses are unlocked. You may claim characters, trade characters with other people, and whatever else you wish to do with them during this time. However..
When you are muse locked you may not claim any new characters or obtain new characters in anyway. The only thing that you can still do is drop muses, however they may not be replaced with a new one until the next time that muses are unlocked.
Well, what are the times that muses are unlocked? What does that mean for joining?
Sadly, another thing that we’re going to be including is that you can only join while muses are unlocked. However, we will be accepting applications at any time! They’ll just only be approved once new muses can be taken. This also gives us time to look over everything and make sure that everyone has a fair shot at getting the muses that they want.
We are currently accepting applications!
The next time muses will be unlocked: July 1st - 4th 2019 ---------------------------
Mixedverse AU Information
Welcome to Mixedverse
Two verses merge, they’re similar but the people that reside in them are.. very different. And no one knows who’s who.
“Two verses merge, they’re similar but the people that reside in them are.. very different. And no one knows who’s who.”
Welcome to the Mixedverse AU! It’s a Mirrorverse AU where MV characters and normal characters (Normalverse) have been introduced to a similar, middle-ground verse.
At first, they might not notice anything at first. Maybe they only run into people from the same verse at first- But then, they notice that one of their friends is actually COMPLETELY abnormal. Slowly but surely they’ll eventually realize that something is wrong.
This is a good opportunity to explore different types of relationships! As well as have a slightly over-arching plot over the entire story.
Mirrorverse Info
Mirrorverse is an AU that was inspired by the Spookyfish episode of South Park, where a mirrored version of Stan, Kyle, and Cartman came into the world. It’s most commonly known where it was represented in a Kyman fanfic, as well as artwork from sleepyeule. You do not need to have read this fic.
The basic premise is that the characters are.. well, mirrored. That doesn’t mean they’re complete opposites, but some of their most important traits are removed. The best example of this is with Cartman. Mirrorverse Cartman has his general horrible and selfishness removed- Which leaves him kind, empathetic, but he’s still pretty gullible and manipulative like he is normally.
[Note; if anyone is shying away from taking an MV character because they either don’t know how a character would act or haven’t done it before- I suggest taking a muse you normally wouldn’t do since they’re going to be mirrored. As well as, ask for help if you’re having trouble at all.]
Normalverse Info
Normalverse is a weird thing to call it, but it’s basically just the canon world! The characters are just as you know them, and there’s nothing too big to note.
(Tumblr is ran by Teal)
-------------------------
Rules
Rules for the Discord group!
1. Have common decency. I’d prefer not to have multiple rules just telling you to be a chill person and respect people. No harassment, bullying, shaming people, etc. Just be reasonable, you don’t have to get along with everyone or be completely unconditionally nice, obviously, but be civil!
2. If you’re uncomfortable, tell someone. This goes hand in hand with the first thing, but if you have drama going on with someone, if you’re being harassed, or if you have a problem with someone, tell a mod or the owner. They’re there for a reason: to help you!
3. Stay in character. Keep in character, there will be a bit more lee-way for Mirrorverse characters than for Normalverse characters since they’re up to interpretation. There will still be standards for them, though, and expectations for how they should act in a mirrored sense. Relationships shouldn’t be changed entirely and characters shouldn’t have sporadic personality changes.
4. Whatever’s in the show is okay. South Park uses slurs constantly, is generally inappropriate and gross, and if you’ve watched the show then you should expect this. I’m completely up for helping people feel more comfortable if they do have things that really upset them, but I’d like to make it clear that I want people to be comfortable using what’s been aired on public television.
5. Minors are allowed. We’re more selective when it comes to people that are underage, but we do allow them! There’s no NSFW allowed, and be aware that some of the people you might interact with could be under 18.
6. Roleplay etiquette. Basically, follow the basic, more well-known roleplaying rules. No god-modding, auto-hitting, mary sues, self-inserts, match post length, try to keep from really small posts if you’re doing literate RP.
7. IC =/= OOC. If a character says something mean to a character in a roleplay, that’s from a character to another character. It’s not to you personally, and those things should be entirely independent of each other.
8. Please be active. If you know you have issues with activity, which is perfectly fine, please inform someone and try to take a role that’s not going to require you to be there constantly. IE, someone playing Stan and only being here once a week could be a problem, but someone playing a character like Pip or a kinder would be completely acceptable.
9. No ship drama. Please, don’t force-ship, don’t shame people for certain ships, for liking things, for not liking things. Shipping is really subjective and some people are different. However, on that note, pedophilic and incestuous ships aren’t accepted in this server in any respect.
10. Characters can die. Muses can be seriously injured and even killed! If a muse is killed, they will never be brought back.
11. Joining? To join the Discord server, submit an application to this Tumblr using the application. If you know someone that’s already in the server, it’s generally easier to get in.
We are accepting applications at all times!
We will be approving applications and letting people join the server through July 1st - 4th 2019.

An Interview
Bucky Barnes x Mexican!Reader
A/N: Written for my girls.
Summary: A magazine wants to do profiles on all the Avengers, you are paired up with Bucky.
“Yeah…no.”
“I wasn’t asking.”
You stared up from the book you were reading and glared at Tony, who had a smirk on his face.
“Excuse me?”
“Well,” he sighed. “You see, the whole leveling the city and saving the world from the big purple guy - well, it has some folks nervous.”
“Okay..” you said, waiting for him to go on.
“So, they want to do profiles on us.”
“Who?”
“Vanity Fair,” Tony grinned. “So, it’s not optional, even the Manchurian Candidate is doing one.”
“Seriously?”
You were now interested and Tony rolled his eyes. “Yes, and I’m pairing everyone up. Sam’s with Steve, Nat and Clint, you and Bucky.”
“Great,” you piped up with a smile. “Who are you doing your interview with? Vision?”
“Nope, he’s got Wanda. I’m going solo.”
“Of course you are,” you laughed. “When’s the interview?”
Tony shrugged innocently. “This afternoon.”
....
Interviews were being done at the compound and your interview was first. You walked into one of the conference rooms, where Tony and a female interview waited. You could hear Tony’s flirtatious tone from the door and cleared your throat to announce yourself.
“There she is,” the billionaire held out a hand in your direction. “Don’t tell anyone, but she’s my favorite.”
The woman laughed and you walked up to them. “He’s lying, but he does look good doing it, huh?”
Tony winked at you and introduced the two of you just as Bucky walked in - looking nervous and hesitant.
“And my least favorite,” Tony waved over Bucky and you snorted. He was kidding of course. “Alright folks, I’ll leave you to it.”
Bucky sent you a warm unsure smile and you reached for his arm, giving him a squeeze. “Just relax, you’ll be fine.”
“Thanks, doll,” he mumbled, as the two of you sat across from the interviewer.
“It’s nice to finally meet you two, I’ve seen videos and photos, but wow,” she exhaled. “Reality is so much better.”
“Thank you,” you smiled graciously and nudged Bucky, who gave a quiet ‘Thanks’.
“Well,” she shifted in the seat, producing a phone from her purse. You watched as she went through it, setting up her recorder and placing it on the table. “Where do we begin?”
She started with Bucky first, asking about his childhood and growing up with the famous Captain America.
“Steve,” Bucky corrected her. “He’s just Steve to me.”
You listened contently as he went through the first time they met, in an alley fight, to going to school together, and fighting together in the war - the interviewer didn’t press when he skipped the whole Hydra aspect of his history. She asked him about life now, how it felt to be in such a different time.
Bucky cleared his throat and shrugged. “Same world, different background. I have good friends that helps me,” he said, giving you a quick glance. “Life is good right now. It’s hard sometimes.”
“I bet,” she nodded, turning her attention to you. “What about you, Y/N? You grew up in California, yes?”
“Yeah,” you smiled brightly. “My mother was from Mexico City and my father was born in California, but his folks were from Aguascalientes.”
“Are you proud of your heritage?”
“I love being Mexican,” you beamed. “Yo soy chicano through and through. I was raised to be proud of who I am. I love my people, that’s why I joined the Avengers. I wanted to represent them, be someone the little ones could look up to. I fight for them.”
“So why leave California?”
Bucky glared at the woman and you reached out for his thigh under the table. He took it, rubbing his thumb against your knuckles and he relaxed.
“I actually had joined a small hero faction in California, mainly working with Hawkeye or Kate, as I call her. It was great, we took down a lot of horrible people, put them in jail. Eventually, I wanted to do more than the small city fighting, so I came to New York and hooked up with Stark.”
“So what you’re saying is the small city fighting isn’t as important?”
“Watch it,” Bucky warned and you squeezed his hand.
“Not at all. You have Daredevil in Hell’s Kitchen, Luke Cage in Harlem, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist - shit, you got Spider-Man in Queens! These people are fighting those small battles to make the lives of New Yorkers safer. They got that shit - they don’t need my help. I’m happy to be where I am.”
“And what about your parents?”
You inhaled deeply and thought of your folks - they were safely tucked away in the small city you grew up in. Kate had promised to keep an eye out for them, plus they called everyday.
“My parents are the working class. My dad worked for the same company for nearly 20 years, he worked long hours and we hardly saw him growing up. My mom worked as a night CNA and she was always exhausted, but they did what they had to keep us afloat. My siblings and I - we appreciate the life they gave us. Now, I have the means to help them out. They are living a good retirement. My brothers and sister, they keep them occupied, so they don’t worry about me.”
Bucky leaned into your side and brought his lips to your ear. “They still worry about you.”
You laughed and pushed him away, not noticing the interviewer noticing the two of you.
“You two look cozy.”
Bucky and you quickly stilled, moving slowly from each other.
“The whole team is really close,” you explained, knowing she wasn’t buying a single word.
“I see. Well,” she reached for her phone and smiled softly. “That’s the interview. I really appreciate you two taking the time to chat with me. We’ll be needing some photos, Mr. Stark arranged for a photoshoot in the next room.”
Bucky groaned quietly and you nodded. “Awesome, thank you.”
The two of you hurried out of the room, taking a deep breath when you walked into the empty hallway - safe from prying eyes.
“She was a hardass.” Bucky shook his head and reached for your hand. “You good?”
“Of course,” you laughed. “She wasn’t so bad, we’ll just have wait and see how she spins the story.”
“I guess,” he pulled you closer to him, dragging his hand slowly up your arm. You grinned as he dipped his head closer to yours, letting his lips graze yours. “We should tell everyone soon..”
“Why,” you whispered, sliding a hand up his neck. “Steve knows, isn’t that enough?”
Bucky kissed you lightly and pulled away when the sound of distant footsteps echoed from down the hall. You chuckled when he pushed you playfully away and you smacked his arm just as Tony appeared from around the corner.
“You two done? Great, photos in the next room. Nothing fancy. How was the interview?”
“She got under Bucky’s skin.”
Tony looked at the man and snorted. “Who doesn’t? Alright, go on. Steve and Sam are up next.”
Grabbing a visibly annoyed Bucky by the arm, you lead him into the photoshoot room, hoping to get it all over with quickly.
....
A month later…
Bucky caressed your back, his fingertips ran circles against the material of your shirt. The two of you were watching a movie in the living room, everyone was out and about for the day. You were on your side, head on his lap and eyes fixated on the tv - Little Women was playing and you sniffled at the part when Beth receives the piano from Mr. Laurence.
“The original is better.” Tony’s voice rang from behind the two of you. Bucky looked over his shoulder and asked where everyone was at.
“Raisin’ hell, I don’t know, Barnes,” he retorted. “Does it look like I’m running an orphanage for wayward super heroes?”
“Yes,” you replied, not glancing away from the tv. “What’s up, Tony?”
“Since you asked,” he said, walking around the couch, dropping a magazine onto your lap. “Looks like you two made the cover.”
“What?’
You sat up and grabbed the magazine.
“Shit,” you cursed.
The cover was of Bucky and you, both sitting next to each other on stools. You were laughing in the direction of the camera, but his eyes were on you. His lips were pulled into a soft content smile and your face was lit with happiness. You remembered the photo being taken during the five minute break, it was candid - a natural interaction with the man you loved.
“You two look cozy,” Tony remarked with suspicion. “Did you read the title?”
You scanned the top of the cover and rolled your eyes, reading it outloud for Bucky, who was smiling over your shoulder.
“Heroic Love - very classy,” you laughed, tossing the magazine on the coffee table. “Have the others seen it?”
“Not yet, thought I’d bring it to you two first. So,” he eyed the two of you, waving a finger on the air. “You two a thing now?”
“Try six months,” Bucky chuckled.
“You gotta be kidding me.”
“Only Steve knew,” you chimed.
Tony rolled his eyes and smirked. “Well, I guess that,” he pointed to the magazine. “Is your coming out party.”
Bucky slipped his arm around your shoulder and brought you back down to his lap. You grinned and proceeded to watch the movie, nodding when Tony said he had a meeting to get to. When he left, the two of you sat quiet, until Bucky reached down for the magazine.
“Are you okay with this?”
You flipped on your back and looked up at those blue eyes you adored so much. You lifted a hand to the side of his face and smiled.
“Yeah, I don’t want to hide us anymore. This way, we can start making out in front of everyone.”
Bucky chuckled and leaned down to press a kiss onto your forehead.
“How about we get some practice in, doll?”
Cocking your eyebrow up at the man, you smirked and bit down on your lip.
“You dog, Bucky Barnes. You wild, dog.”

LOCKING IN MY FINAL PREDICTIONS FOR THE FINALE
Here is everything I expect to happen in this finale. Some dot points are kind of vague... some things I literally have no idea what to expect! The main one I’m locking in is that A.D. is Twincer, the rest is extra fluffy commentary.
There is no such thing as a filler scene. Even if we get a scene with Spencer and Alison frickn baking cookies talking about good books they’ve read lately. That is not a filler. Don't look at that scene literally, and say “I couldn't give a damn if they make chocolate chip cookies or raisin cookies”. Look at the symbolism behind every scene: it could be serving as that character’s farewell scene (the last time we’ll ever see them) or it could be serving as showing character development from the pilot to now; how the writers want this character to bow out. I repeat: NOTHING is a filler. Everything is important, if you look at the meaning behind the scene, rather than what it conveys literally. For this reason, I think every scene will have me emotional.
Ezria, Haleb, Emison and Spoby will all be endgame.
The entire episode will be set in the future. “1 year later” will pop up at the beginning of the episode. And we find out our precious answers via flashbacks. We go from seeing Emison’s babies in the present, to flashing back to A.D.’s reveal, to going back to the present to see married Haleb, to flashing back to Ezria’s wedding, etc. Followed by another one year forward at the end of the finale.
A.D. is Spencer’s twin. A.D. stands for A_____ Drake, so Twincer is Mary’s third child. Twincer was never adopted by the Hastings, rather she grew up in Radley where she met her sister Charlotte. Mona came to Radley and told Charlotte and Twincer about the A-game, which the duo played together from season 3 onwards. Now that Charlotte is dead, Twincer is playing the game solo for once, trying to avenge the death of her only friend (and sister). On top of this, Twincer is angry at the Hastings for not adopting her, and is jealous of Spencer’s marvellous life. Twincer is harassing the other liars, because she wants to cause a divide in the group, ultimately to hurt Spencer. (Edit: but just like Mona thought CeCe was Ali... Mona had no idea it was Twincer, because she was on her meds. Unrealistic, I know, but they’ve done it before, they can do it again)
If A.D. is not Twincer, it will be another secret sibling. I get the vibes it will not be as simple as “the Ezra/Caleb/Wren/Melissa/Paige you’ve known this whole time is evil”.
Something controversial will happen that will spark conversation in the media. If they made Big A be transgender, imagine what they’ll do to Uber A?
WHEN WE FIRST SEE WHO IS UNDER THE HOODIE... I WILL NOT BELIEVE THAT IS TRULY A.D UNTIL A MASK COMES OFF. I am not accepting that person as A.D. until a mask comes off. It won't be that easy.
A.D. has not been around since season 1. As elaborated above, I think A.D. was simply Charlotte’s team-mate, and this story only goes back to season 3. Seasons 1 and 2 will be completely irrelevant.
Mona will die. As we saw in the “1 day to go” promo by Freeform, Mona is still investigating who A.D. is. I think Mona will solve the game, and as she's on her way to tell the girls who A.D. is, A.D. will kill her. This will not only be a move to protect their identity, but also as revenge for killing Charlotte.
A.D. will die in the end.
The father of Emison’s baby will not be important. AD stole a random donor’s sperm. Lame, I know, but I feel like this will be a repeat of the barrel story from 5B, where Marlene said Charlotte stole a cadaver from medical school.
Wren is Twincer’s helper. Twincer asked Wren to shoot him, so that when she goes over to Toby’s house and has sex with him, she’ll have that wound just like Spencer does.
Jenna is another AD minion.
Bethany Young will be mentioned in a really important way. I can't pinpoint how, though. (x)
Charlotte was lying to the girls when explaining her story in 610. She never returned to Radley after Charles’ funeral. She was free to roam the streets of Rosewood. The only person who could verify Charlotte’s story is Jessica... and she’s dead. So, nothing Charlotte said in 610 can be proven as true. To fill the plot holes, they need to reveal that she lied.
They won't fix the plot hole of Marion Cavanaugh’s death :(
Addison and Jenna are connected in some way.
Shower Harvey will not be mentioned at all... even though we still need to find out why she helped Charlotte... we will never know.
The final scene will be Hanna announcing she is pregnant and one of the liars going away. Still using the formula from dot point #3 - it’ll be the final scene, but technically still a flashback.
The ending has been described as “typical PLL” - I really think they’re setting up a spinoff with Addison. I pray not. If this isn't the ending, then I hope it’s a cinematic shot of Mona’s grave, Charlotte’s grave, and AD’s grave lined up next to each other, with the girls declaring “we won”.
We will not find out about Wren’s shady phone call in 4A “we have a problem, you take care of your end and I’ll take care of mine”
We will never hear of Eddie Lamb again
Archer took on the identity of Doctor Elliot Rollins so that he can be with Charlotte.
Toby killed Yvonne by feeding her poisonous biscuits in 713, so he can be with Spencer. (Edit: but Spencer will never know this)
“That night” is 100% done and dusted and has no relevance to the finale. I hope I’m wrong though.

“Five Stars for Beezus” - Reaction
Jess prepares to tell Nick how she really feels about him. In other events, Nick has a meeting with a book publisher, Aly helps Winston reconnect with someone important and big news comes along for Schmidt and Cece.
Reaction:
I am losing my goddamn mind! I had to wait to watch this until Wednesday so you could say I was wired to watch the season finale. Not only was I nervous about a potential time jump/series finale, but I was on edge for Nick and Jess’ reunion. While my heart wanted to see more of them, but my brain understands that the way this was edited was for the best. And honestly, it just made me more excited hopeful for a renewal.
I literally called one of my best friends immediately after I watched this so we could talk about our feelings. We just had so many! That being said, I’m going to try to reign it in for this extra-long reaction. Jafjdioa;jfei;aklhcxio;zjfdlk.afj ;kfljdlas.zjfdskljfdahfdjvn … OKAY I’M READY.
Let’s start with Winston and Aly. As always, these two are perfect together. As if Aly needed anymore reason to find a space in my heart, she wowed me again. She knew exactly what Winston needed by providing him with his father’s phone number. She didn’t pressure him to do anything and in turn Winston decided on his own (with Jess’ inadvertent help) to call his dad on his own. If Winston hadn’t been confused by the diaper bandit and told his dad that Furguson wasn’t ready for a relationship, I would have been in complete tears the entire time and not just a few. Fox, please let us see where this goes.
The #2 moment I have been waiting for: a caramel miracle! The entire scenario of everyone finding out before Cece was so perfectly New Girl. And Schmidt’s reaction was so pure and heartfelt. Max and Hannah’s acting throughout was topnotch. We don’t usually get to see them with serious storylines but when we do, man is it a sight to see! For example, when Cece said she didn’t think it would happen for them, I lost it. It was like the pregnancy scare and “Eggs” was leading up to this moment. Cece finding out she was pregnant was so honest and sweet. I definitely made an embarrassing crying sob noise when she started to tear up. Fun fact: when my parents were pregnant with my older brother, my dad actually found out first and got to tell my mom, so I had a special connection to that scenario. Oh, and Schmidt’s flowers were bomb, that caused another fresh set of tears. I could honestly go on for hours on how perfectly that was executed.
Not to mention, Cece and Schmidt were all of us in 2017. The scene where they discussed Nick and Jess’ inevitability was clearly fanservice and I loved every second of it. It didn’t come off as cheap, it came across as genuine. It almost made me forget the monstrosity that was Nick dating Raisin despite how needed that was for Nick’s character. And he probably wouldn’t have written Pepperwood without her.
Tbh, I’m kinda bummed Sadie got divorced. Also tbh, I forgot about Sadie. I love that she was put into this episode in such a major way. Hopefully she’ll make another appearance in a potential 7th season.
All of the callbacks to the first two seasons were perfectly executed. Let’s see if I can hit all of the obvious ones: the yellow cat hat, “Time of Your Life,” caramel miracle, Jessica Night, only one charger, Nick falling in love with Jess the moment she walked through the door, and of course the elevator. Shouts to @zooeys for the parallel gifs.
Before I dive headfirst into Jess’ storyline with Nick, we cannot ignore Nick’s storyline with Pepperwood. First, the Pepperwood cosplays at the book reading slayed me. And please note there is clearly a Jessica Night cosplayer in front of Jess. I love how Nick’s perception of his novel compared to the actual fanbase is so off. Young adults love it! Which means I would probably love it too because my taste in books is that of a thirteen-year-old girl. I was wondering if Jessica Night was going to make a reappearance in his novel. I’m so glad she did! Though I did wish that Jess had stuck around to hear more of what Nick had to say on that topic. I agree with Schmidt (and Jess from an earlier season), Nick is the “dumbest boy in school.” Anyways, Nick talking to that publisher was comedic genius, I was in stitches that entire time. “What are you, some kind of a publisher?” “Yeah.” Haha, classic Nick. Then when he was in the meeting, I was surprised he didn’t run off for Jess right then. He literally could not get her off his mind. When Schmidt asked why he thought he didn’t care that he and Raisin broke up, all he could verbalize was related to Jess. You dumb boy, run to her! Thank God he did. (Drive faster, Beezus!)
Okay, now for the main attraction: NICK AND JESS. It’s weird to think they didn’t even see each other until the end of the episode for how much the entire story was about them. I kind of wish we had seen Nick see Jess outside the building for the first time for how sweetly Nick described it. But we at least got to see the recreation of it when they ran to each other. Oh, and don’t get me started on “Time of Your Life.” As if I wasn’t crying enough already. That’s when I really lost it. And then the music and tension of them missing each other on the stairs/elevator just built up to the perfect moment. Honestly, when the credits started rolling, I started freaking out. But man was that kiss worth it. And while I wanted to have seen more of them, it made me exceedingly optimistic about a renewal. We absolutely have to now (#reNewGirl).
Favorite quotes:
“I mean, look, the character based on me is a Jewish psychopath who wears a bolo tie and eats applesauce out of a baboon’s skull.” —Schmidt
“You’re going to have a bunch of salami floating around in your toilet bowl.” —Nick
“He’s rough and tumble. She’s sweet and sassy. It’s the moon and the tides, it’s the push and the pull.” —Schmidt
“Children’s literature just got a brand-new daddy.” —Schmidt
“You know me; I live where my stuff lives.” —Jess
“I published the entire Bitch Witch series. Bitch Witch Christmas, Bitch Witch Prom Night, and Bitch Witch of Rhode Island.” —Merle
“Real night-screamer. He couldn’t sleep unless he was screaming a whole bunch.” —Winston
“Portland, huh? Land of the muskrat.” —Winston

We Are Freestyle Love Supreme, see July 17

Heroes of the Fourth Turning . See July 18
Below is the day-by-day calendar of “theater openings”* in July, 2020. The big news is the release of “Hamilton” online at Disney Plus — and (less hyped) the “Freestyle Love Supreme” documentary on Hulu — but in truth Lin-Manuel Miranda’s shows are not all that’s exciting this month in the world of online theater — a world in which “online” and “theater” have been synonymous since physical theaters were shut down in March (though there are small signs this may be changing; see July 13). And most of the other shows don’t require subscriptions.
Among the scheduled delights are acclaimed plays by Pulitzer finalist Will Arbery (July 18) and MacArthur “genius” grant winner Samuel D. Hunter (July 11), as well as a new Richard Nelson Apple Family play (July 1) and a new documentary play about frontline medical workers by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen, creators of The Exonerated and Coal Country (July 8.) There a couple of inventive substitutions for the usual summer theater festivals.
Since so many shows are being put together at the last minute — sometimes not announced until the very day of their launch .. and there also have been fairly frequent last-minute postponements/cancellations/replacements — I will be updating/filling in this preview guide every day, and highlighting the offerings each new day with the link up top. This calendar as of this moment offers a glimpse of what’s in store. Come back day by day for a better look.
Here are some ongoing series that have proven to be reliable sources of art and entertainment.
Four offer live performances (often called readings) of original plays: The Homebound Project Livelabs: One Acts from MCC Play-PerView Viral Monologues from 24 Hour Plays
Play-PerView makes an exception this month to its original plays with what counts as a coup — the live reading of the Pulitzer finalist play “Heroes of the Fourth Turning” (which was supposed to debut last month but was postponed, as were a good number of productions due to the Black Lives Matter protests.)
A fifth offers live readings of classics and recent favorites: Plays in the House, Stars in the House’s twice weekly matinees and now Plays in the House Teen Edition.
Three offer recordings of previous (glorious) stage productions.
Metropolitan Opera National Theatre at Home The Shows Must Go On from Andrew Lloyd Webber
For details about these and other ongoing series, check out my post Where To Get Your Theater Fix Online (which lists, for example, the many long-running online sites such as BroadwayHD and Marquee TV that offer video-capture recordings of shows that were on stage)
All performances are free unless otherwise noted, although almost all hope for a donation (either to themselves or to a designated charity.)
*My definition of theater for the purposes of this calendar generally does not extend to variety shows, cast reunions, galas, panel discussions, documentaries, classes, interviews — all of which are in abundance this month, many worth checking out. My focus here is on creative storytelling in performance. (I make an occasional exception for a high-profile Netathon, involving many theater artists.)
A reminder that this calendar lists when the shows “open.” Some are live and available only for that one performance. Others are available for a week or weeks afterward or longer.
July 1
Die Mommie Die Plays in the House Launches at 2 p.m. Available for four days. In this latest of Stars in the House’s Wednesday matinees, Charles Busch is joined by BD Wong, Willie Garson, Brandon Contreras, Jennifer Cody and Ruth Williamson in this reading of his campy 1999 melodrama Die, Mommie, Die!, a mix of Aeschylus and Bette Davis.Directed and narrated by Carl Andress.
The Book of Job Project Theater of War Launches at 4 p.m. live only The latest from Bryan Doerries terrific community-oriented theater using classic texts (best-known for Antigone in Ferguson), is a dramatic reading of The Book of Job as a catalyst for discussion about injustice during the COVID-19 pandemic. Featuring performances by Jeffrey Wright, Frankie Faison, Kimberly Hebert, David Strathairn, David Zayas, and Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.
And So We Come Forth Apple Family Productions Launches at 7:30 pm. Available for 8 weeks The Apple Family, a dramatic series of plays which first appeared 10 years ago, returned last April with the premiere of a play written especially for Zoom, What Do We Need to Talk About? Now this second Zoom play, And So We Come Forth is set in early July 2020, amidst massive protests against injustice and racism in our country, as well as the anxious easing of a worldwide lockdown.

Hamilton Disney Plus Available from this date on. A live-capture of the stage production with the original Broadway cast, which was shot over three days in June 2016. A Disney Plus subscription is required. One way to look at this is that it costs $6.99 to see “Hamilton” and you get a month to watch everything else on the service (which includes titles familiar to theatergoers though not the same versions — Frozen, The Lion King, Aladdin.) Here is my video review of “Hamilton” in 2015:

23 Lessons That Will Teach You All You Need To Know About Chocolate Production | chocolate production
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
The 23 Countries That Produce the Most Chocolate | Investopedia – chocolate production | chocolate production
Based on the atypical by Roald Dahl. Book by David Greig. Music by Marc Shaiman. Lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. With songs from the cine by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley. Directed by Jack O’Brien. Until Jan. 6 at the Princess of Wales Theatre, 300 King St. W. Mirvish.com or 416-872-1212.
In the apple of Willy Wonka, affluence is the mother of invention. Want a three-course meal in a tiny bit of gum? Done. Want a Mary Poppins-level argot bewilderment for a confectionery name? But of course. Want a absolutely comestible bewitched forest? Why yes, the Bonbon Man can.
But applying the aforementioned argumentation to a agreeable is not a aureate admission to greatness. Jack O’Brien’s 2017 Broadway assembly of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the best contempo musicalized adaptation of Roald Dahl’s novel, radically reworked the London apple premiere, which had an basal affair of abjection and banal strife. The North American adaptation did a 180 degree-turn, aptitude on the amusing elements of a wealthy, aberrant bonbon maker, a bewitched factory, and a rag-tag aggregation of abhorrent children, and one about aboriginal poor boy and his grandfather.
How Chocolate is Made – chocolate production | chocolate production
According to O’Brien, the touring adaptation that’s now at the Princess of Wales Theatre with Mirvish Productions is alike brighter, happier and added active than its predecessor, which bankrupt on Broadway afterwards beneath than a year.
O’Brien’s assembly is absolutely sweet, with a colour palette as acute as a sourball (set and apparel architecture by Nicholas Skilbeck) and an ensemble that’s on a abiding amoroso aerial (choreography by Joshua Bergasse). But removing the absinthian atmosphere in Dahl’s adventure adds some overcomplication to the musical: there’s a conceit that brings Willy Wonka (Noah Weisberg) into the aboriginal act, assuming as a bonbon abundance buyer and watching the uproar over his aureate admission challenge from the arena level.
In the disguise, he forms a accord with adolescent Charlie Bucket (Henry Boshart on aperture day, who shares the role with Collin Jeffery and Rueby Wood), who, in this version, is chocolate-obsessed and a Willy Wonka uberfan. This aboriginal accord ability explain Charlie’s absurd analysis of the final aureate ticket, but doesn’t abide in the additional act, which takes abode absolutely in the factory. Wonka resumes his about bananas affecting ambit from the winners, a above antecedent of ball afterwards the annihilation that ensues — which, I can’t deny, are clumsily funny if additionally a abominable abandonment from the show’s acidity — and Charlie isn’t at all abashed by the actuality that he knew his idol all along.
A Shortage of Cocoa Threatens the Chocolate Production Worldwide … – chocolate production | chocolate production
The banter that survives in this assembly mostly apropos the spoofable ancillary of Generation Z: Violet Beauregarde (Brynn Williams) is a amusing media celebrity for her ballsy gum-chewing, managed by her smooth-talking ancestor (David Samuel), and Mike Teavee (Daniel Quadrino) is a hacker beneath abode arrest who calls any developed a loser, and drives his ’50s-era mother (Madeleine Doherty) to drink.
The others are calmly apparent from antecedent versions: Augustus Gloop (Matt Wood) and his mother (Kathy Fitzgerald) are still all-around sausage-lovers, and Veruca Salt (Jessica Cohen) is still a baby daddy’s girl, but to a Russian brigand (Nathaniel Hackmann).
But the assembly resists any added added reading, added than the archetypal “follow your dreams” assignment depicted in the civil “If Your Ancestor Were Here,” articulate by Mrs. Bucket (Amanda Rose), during which she dances with the apparition of her husband, which doesn’t do abundant for the assuming of mothers in agreeable theatre.
RHUM RAISINS PRUNEAUX – chocolate production | chocolate production
That is one of the new songs that hearkens aback to the 1971 blur starring Gene Wilder that so inspires the production, which appearance “The Bonbon Man,” “I’ve Got a Aureate Ticket/Grandpa Joe” and “Pure Imagination.” The admittance of those songs strums the affection strings, the closing creating an abnormally serene moment of awe afterwards the thrills of entering the factory. But those songs appearance how abundant the blow of the account bombards the admirers with assumption and speed.
One aspect that deserves able acclaim is its access to the ambiguous Oompa Loompas, which I won’t blemish here. With this device, Charlie and the Chocolate Branch nails the mix of arbitrary joy it strives for (if you avoid the colonial accordance of Wonka extenuative their tribe).
It’s adamantine not to anticipate about the musicalized adaptation of Matilda, addition admired Dahl story, which succeeded in all-embracing both the ablaze and the aphotic in the story. Salty flavours can generally enhance the sweet.
