Katribu condemns harassment of CPA leader during court hearing (Facebook link)
Katribu Kalipunan ng Katutubong Mamamayan ng Pilipinas condemns the harassment experienced by Cordillera Peoples Alliance (CPA) leader Sarah Alikes during a court hearing in Baguio City on January 26, 2024. The hearing was related to the petition filed by Alikes, along with CPA leaders Windel Bolinget, Jennifer Awingan, and Steve Tauli, on November 23, 2023, to overturn their designation as terrorists by the Anti-Terrorism Council.
The harassment incident occurred inside the Baguio Justice Hall, where an individual named "Zyrus Tarnate" trailed the Cordilleran activists and later handed Alikes an empty envelope. A similar case of harassment also happened during their first hearing on December 14 of the previous year. An armed policeman identified as Patrolman Maruel Baniwaa Benito, based on his identification card, was spotted taking photos and videos of the four petitioners.
Katribu views these incidents of harassment, intended to threaten and intimidate victims of human rights violations, as brazen acts by state security forces. We hold the Marcos Jr. regime accountable should any harm befall the four CPA leaders. Clearly, Alikes’ experience is intended to silence them and other activists in similar situations.

JUSTICE FOR BRANDON LEE!! . #REPOST // Friday, Aug. 9th: “About thirty members of ICHRP-US Northeast, Malaya Movement Northeast, BAYAN USA Northeast, and solidarity allies from other organizations attended an emergency indignation rally at the Philippine Consulate in New York City calling for justice for Brandon Lee, a Chinese American activist originally from the Bay Area who moved to the Philippines nine years ago to serve the peasant and indigenous peoples in the Cordillera region. A father, husband, journalist, environmentalist, and paralegal, Lee is currently in critical condition fighting for his life after sustaining four gunshots to his person on August 6 by alleged Philippine state agents. He was shot at his home in Lagawe, Ifugao in front of his wife and child after picking up his daughter from school. Lee has undergone operation and has survived seven cardiac arrests. Philippine military personnel continue to surveil Lee while in the hospital.” [...] . To read the full statement please check out @ichrpnyc @ichrp_us . TW:// death, violence
If you guys didn’t know it yet, our fascist government in the Philippines killed atleast 9 activists and arrested 6 yesterday after our president told the police and military to “ignore human rights.”
This isn’t something new in my country. More and more activists are being killed everyday. Please reblog to let others know.
You can check out #BloodySunday on twitter or #WhatsHappeningInThePhilippines for more about this. (Tw://blood)

Have courage, speak up, and take a stand for people who can’t do so for themselves.
In a world of ours where some are getting less humane and gentle, it is our obligation to protect each other and at least feel a sense of responsibility. Remember, what doesn’t affect you shouldn’t stop you from caring for other people. After all, we’re essentially made to do so, right? And now that we face a lot of social issues, like our planet deteriorating and other people’s hearts hardening (which is the root of hate and basically chaos), it is not the time to be neutral and make it worse. We have it bad enough already so instead, let’s just do our best to be kinder to each other. And we should also learn how to educate ourselves to know what’s actually happening beyond our own bubbles. Just like what Katy Perry said, being comfortable in our own bubbles makes us not see or lose sight of the trouble (I quote that from her song, “Chained to the Rhythm”).
Let us all remember that while we are on the cloud nine, some people are on the edge of their lives. Some people are being oppressed, tortured, maltreated, and deprived of their rights everyday for absolutely selfish and unnecessary reasons. It is just right to do something and act on resolving it. And I think what we should do to those people who are cruel and abusive, we should hold them accountable. It is not the easiest thing to do but I think it’s the harmless way, at most. And, last but not the least, let us all spread love, not hate. This is really overused, to say the least, but let’s all do it! Despite our differences, let us learn to understand, respect, and compromise!
𝘽𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙄 𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨, 𝙄’𝙙 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙚𝙚 𝙦𝙪𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙪𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧:
1. “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. - Desmond Tutu
2. “Amplify the cries of the people and be the voice of those who are silenced.” - by moi
3. “You have to act as if it were possible to radically change the world. And you have to do it all the time.” - Angela Davis
There you have it! Thank you so much for reading and giving me a bit of your time! My brain cells are non-existent by now but I hope that you learned something (and I didn’t bore you with this one).

I haven’t been really vocal about my political stand here on Tumblr as I promised myself that I will only show my art and shits here. Also, I’ve been very loud on Facebook that I thought there is no need for me to be also loud here. However, the Philippine government can’t just really do it’s job right.
Reports of fake Facebook accounts of UP students trended. This is not new but the number of fake accounts is seriously alarming. The government is really not holding back anymore. Most of my friends from school don’t just have one or two fake accounts, some of them has 5 or more.
I also tried looking up my name on Facebook and luckily, I don’t have even a single fake account. Maybe one of the reasons is that even though my account is public, my name is unique and I don’t really comment on posts where DDS can attack me. However, a police have contacted me once on Facebook and Instagram. I never replied to his messages and just proceed on blocking him on both accounts.
The authorities also violated the UP-DND accord of 1989 which prohibits any police or military operations within the campus without prior coordination to the school administration when they, in civilian clothing, violently dispersed the and arrested the protesters of the Anti-Terror Bill at University of the Philippines, Cebu.
One of the protesters that was arrested is my friend, kuya Al Osiris Ingking, a UP Diliman College of Engineering alumnus. Kuya Al, just like most of my friends, has always been vocal about his political stand. They were having a peaceful rally and they practiced social distancing. There is no reason for the authorities to violently disperse and arrest them.
Clearly, the government wants to silence us. Even Tito Sotto claimed that there is already no need to declare Martial Law if the new Anti-Terror Bill becomes law. That’s the plan and goal all along. To pass a bill that’s pretty similar to Martial Law. They thought people are stupid to not notice this.
Never forget that activism doesn’t equate to terrorism. There is a big difference between the two but the new Anti-Terror Bill will not differentiate them. Our rights will be trampled. Simply criticizing the government can kill us.
If you’re still neutral after seeing the news and everything that’s happening, you are an enabler of this fascist government. There is only the antis and pros. There is no in between. You have to choose whether to lick the asses of the fascists or fight for your right. Wake up.

No Borders, Abolish Citizenship
I’ve been thinking a lot about the impacts of colonization and the ways in which it plays out today, When I think about where we are at with immigration in addition to the many challenges of imperialism in other countries. There seems to be a revolving push of xenophobia and colonial settler conformity. Citizenship in the United States is lethal in the way it legitimizes who deserves medical care, education, and a fucking right to live. Nothing seems to get through to the United States government that the detention centers are essentially mirroring the holocaust camps. The genocide is happening and the clock revolves around capital, survival and the distractions of media. This blog is dedicated to stalling the bits and pieces I can bring towards a movement that rejects the United States government and pushes towards liberation for Black, Indigenous, People of Color. As a writer for this blog, my intent is to not provide all the answers but provide reflection & growth in this process.
