"So?" Bella opened a tentative smile, "what do you think?"

"I think it's great, baby," Lucas said, forcing a smile, "I'm happy for you."

Bella snorted, closing the space between them and throwing her arms around his neck, "you hate it," she chuckled, getting on her tip toes. Lucas rolled his eyes, leaning in to kiss her.

"Of course I do," he admitted, nibbling at her bottom lip, "but not because its bad, it's fine. Needs a fresh coat of paint, that's all."

"You can help me," Bella shrugged, bumping her nose over his and stumbling back, so she could fall on the bed with Lucas over her. He let out a chuckle, kissing her, hands wandering down her body to hook Bell's leg over his hip.

"And maybe replace the carpet..." Luke mumbled, planting a kiss on her neck, riding up her shirt so he could squeeze her waist. Bella opened an amused smile, fingers curling on his hair.

"Oh yeah? What else?"

"Fix the water pressure" his voice came out muffled as he planted kisses down her belly, "fix the feet of the fridge so it's not..." he tugged on her sweatpants, pulling them down, "wobbling."

Bella let out a giggle, "look at you. A real fixer upper..." her voice trailed off and she arched her back, running her fingers through his hair, "Luke, come back here, baby."

"What?" he pressed a kiss on her inner thighs, "no, I'm busy-"

"Come here, you dork," she wiggled on the bed, chuckling, "c'mere."

"You're such a tease, Isabella," Lucas rolled his eyes, moving up on the bed and allowing his girlfriend to wrap herself around him, muffling a giggle against his neck.

"Uhm, I know," she nibbled at his ear, "but I want to cuddle."

"Tease," he said sourly, but wrapped his arms around her, resting his chin against the top of her head, "I like the place, Bells, I just hate it too."

She let out a huff against his collarbone, "you'll get used to it," she sighed, entangling their legs, "...I got you a key, it's in your keychain already."

"Oh yeah?" Lucas smiled, squeezing her to him, "you could just ask me to stay over."

Bella grumbled something, but didn't answer him, instead opting for closing her eyes, her hand going up and down his bicep in a way that was more soothing to her than him.

It didn't take long until her hand stopped moving at all and he heard a soft snore, Bella's whole weight slumping against him. Lucas considered pulling her away, seeing as she was draped over him in such a manner it was a little uncomfortable, but he didn't have the heart to.

Instead, he closed his eyes, rubbing at them with the hand currently not resting in the middle of her back. His eyes were sore, but he wasn't sleepy, far from it.

There was an annoying throbbing on his temple, which he chalked up to stress and the minor heartbreak of seeing Bell's new place. He still wasn't over it, however dumb it was.

Bella let out a huff, moving up and pressing her forehead to his chin, "I can hear you thinking..." she mumbled sleepily, "stop."

"Sleep," he rolled his eyes, then regretted it when it it flared up the pain again. Lucas let out a small grunt, causing Bella to sigh against his neck, cuddling closer.

He allowed himself to sink into the pillow. Bell's soft breathing timing his. The headache was still very present, drumming inside his head, but in the dead quiet of the room, it didn't flare up as it should.

When Lucas opened his eyes again, the bedroom was bathed in a grey light. Just before dawn, a cold day promised ahead. He could hear the wind howling outside and Bella snoring. There was a small wet spot in his shirt, where she had drooled on him.

Lucas squirmed, trying to pinpoint why he was awake. He sat up on the bed and it hit him like a freight train. His brain felt like it was melting, the sharp pain causing Luke to wince, his right eye immediately starting to water.

There was a pressure around his temples, like someone had wrapped an elastic around his skull and was tightening still. He got up and stumbled out of the bedroom, into the suite's bathroom.

His reflection cemented what Lucas already knew. He was milky white, both eyes rimmed red and surrounded by dark circles even if he had managed to sleep for five hours straight. His right eye was leaking like a faulty faucet.

Lucas groaned, leaning in and pressing his overheated forehead to the cold granite of the sink. It felt like someone was drilling in his head, behind his right eye.

He reached in blindly, opening the mirror cabinet and trying to focus on getting some medicine. Any medicine. His hands were shaking badly and Bell's organization was far from the best. She had twelve different bottles of something he couldn't even begin to recognize, a bunch of cotton swabs, a spare toothbrush-

Lucas stomach rolled as the pain went up a notch and he accidentally knocked over one of the bottles, causing the two next to it to fall down in the sink too, along with a metallic case. The loud noise felt like someone had just punched him in the face and Luke gave up on his search for meds, falling to his knees before the toilet and heaving.

Nothing came up, but the retch caused the hot blade in his head to dig a little deeper and Luke whimpered, hugging the toilet as the nausea rolled through him.

"Lucas...?" Bella's voice was sleepy and he didn't manage to lift his head to look at her, but he could just guess she was standing in the doorway, rubbing her eyes in confusion.

He groaned something that was meant to sound like "I'm fine, go back to bed," but that came out more like a string of grunts and then Bella was crouching down next to him.

"My God, Luke..." she said, surprised, cupping his forehead, "what's wrong? You don't have a fever... Was it something you ate?"

She was too loud, her voice echoing in his head. Everything was too loud, the bathroom was too bright and even the soft smell of cleaning products was too much. Lucas leaned in with a sob, gagging again.

Unsure of what to do, he felt Bella's hand on his back, rubbing up and down and just making everything worse, "Stop- S'oop," he slurred, struggling to voice the issue at hand, "head'urts..."

"Oh," Bella's voice dropped to barely above a whisper and her hand stopped moving. She pressed it firmly to the center of his shoulder blades and Lucas focused on it, trying to ride out the sickness.

It was useless and with one more sob, his dinner came up. Lucas choked on it, squeezing his eyes shut as the mere force of puking caused his head to throb even more.

Once he was done, he hung over the bowl, panting and crying, "Bell, it hurts..."

"I'm sorry," she whispered back, then he felt a wad of slightly damp toilet paper be pressed to his face, wiping away the drool, "breathe in, Luke."

He let out a breath that was much more a sob and groaned, "fuck... My stomach..."

"Shh," Bella pressed a gentle kiss to his temple, "it'll settle in a second."

Her voice was incredibly soft and he realized she had covered the only window in the bathroom with a towel, making the room darker. Lucas let out a sigh and reached in, clumsily closing the toilet and not bothering to flush.

He sat back down, resting his back against the wall and planting the heel of his hands to his eyes. It was a cold morning, but he felt like he was overheating. Lucas let out a shudder, burping wetly against his hand, "this sucks..."

"Can you hold down medicine?" Bella whispered, squeezing his thigh in an amiable manner.

"No," Lucas groaned.

"Okay," she got up from the ground, wetting a hand towel and filling up a glass of water, crouching back down, "at least rinse your mouth if you can't drink."

Lucas obeyed, swishing the water around to get the bitter taste off his mouth and then spitting it in the toilet. He gagged again as the smell hit him, since he hadn't flushed, and Bella quickly closed the lid, pulling him back.

"Sorry, sorry," she whispered, planting a kiss on the side of his head, "let's go back to bed?"

"Okay..." it sounded like he had gargled with glass. Lucas winced at the sound of his own voice, the pain echoing in his head. Bella was ready to help, wrapping her arms around his torso to pull him up.

The change of position caused his head to swim and Lucas let out a groan, whole body dipping forward and causing Bella to squeal as he pushed them both down, "LUKE!"

Her sharp voice felt like a hot knife in his brain and Lucas cried out, "stop stop stop!"

"I'm sorry," she whispered, bracing against the sink to hold them both up, "I'm sorry..." Bella planted a clumsy kiss on his cheek, steadying them.

Slowly she helped him back to bed, huffing by the time they closed the short distance. Lucas fell back down against the pillows and Bella let out a sigh, "don't move."

He could hear her moving around, trying her best to be quiet, flushing the toilet, and then the room was dipped in shadow. Lucas let out a sigh of relief, only to be startled when something slightly damp touched his forehead.

"Wha-"

"Shh, it's just me," Bella whispered and he realized she had planted a washcloth over his forehead and eyes, pulling him in the complete darkness.

He relaxed as the pounding in his head reduced significantly without any noises or lights to trigger it. As the drilling calmed down, Lucas assessed himself. His stomach was still churning sickeningly and he was freezing. He shivered at the realization and Bella's hand, resting on his chest, moved.

"Cold?" she whispered and Lucas groaned something, trying to agree.

A minute later she was tucking the blankets around him. He felt the bed dip as she joined him in bed and Lucas sighed, "I'm sorry..."

"Nothing to be sorry for," Bella whispered, scooting closer and he let out another relieved noise as he felt her fingers in his hair, combing the waves away, nails scratching his scalp.

"This feels good," he mumbled, words dragging together, "can I stay?"

He heard a huff, then felt Bella kissing the top of his head, "you're not going anywhere, Lu-"

"Can I stay forever?" he interrupted, stomach churning and the headache going up a notch as he vocalized something that had been pestering him for a while. He didn't want to live apart. Simple as that, he had tasted living together with Bella and he wouldn't have it any other way.

"...Here?" she seemed taken back, so much so her voice raised at the last syllable and caused him to flinch.

"Yeah," he pushed the towel up, so he could open his eyes and look at her. His sight was hazy and the room was dark, but he could see her mess of auburn curls and the way she looked surprised, mouth fallen in a shocked O, "Bell?"

"You want to move in with me?" she repeated, doing her best to whisper, when clearly she wanted to say it louder, "in this tiny place? With the carpet that needs to be replaced? And the bad water pressure? And- And the fridge that wobbles...?" her voice broke, choked up and Lucas frowned in confusion.

"Is that a problem...?" he blinked, trying to see her through the massive black spots in his field of vision, "I wanna live with you, the rest really doesn't matter."

He heard a sob and then Bella pressed her forehead to his, lips over his as she all but whimpered, "yeah of course you can move in... Of course you can stay... I love you."

He cringed, "I just puked, stop kissing me," Lucas mumbled, sluggishly pushing the towel back down to hide from the lights. He felt Bella let out another sob as she hugged him an awkward manner, his chin pressed to her forehead and he opened a small, pained smile, "I love you too, Isabella."

you're the one who figures out they've been snooping - you noticed things in multiple closets have been knocked over, items are in the front while they're usually in the back, and mention it to aaron. you come to him and you're like, "i think they've been looking for the presents 😳" all flabbergasted LOL. it's funny all the same, it's a rite of passage as a kid, but you don't want any surprises being ruined, or for the realization that santa isn't real to strike - jack still has a few years left in him, and ellie's still practically a baby 😭

hehe aaron finally finds them in the act - you're doing some last minute shopping for his gift 🤭, while he's watching them at home. the two of them have been watching a movie, he's just getting miscellaneous work things done, and when he goes in to check on them, they're not on the couch where he left them, movie's still playing on the screen. and sure enough, he finds the two of them looking under your shared bed.

hehe aaron's standing there with his arms crossed, face all :| and is like, "what are the two of you doing??"

ellie's still toddler age, and loves nothing more than listening to her big brother and following him around 🥹 so jack will put the blame on her 😭 (not in a mean way, a brother way) he innocently looks up at his father and says, "ellie wanted to 🥺" and aaron's all "🤨 yeah alright, this is ellie's idea" LOL

luckily they didn't find anything, but the two of you still bring the presents to dave's, and drop off any before coming home after being out and about.

hehe so when it's christmas eve, aaron gives you that look like, dave's coming soon and they can't see what he's bringing. SO you grab the two of them all excitedly and ask who wants to make some cookies for santa!!!!! which is the best distraction because the kitchen has some distance between the front door, so aaron and dave can easily sneak in and out, head up the stairs with the presents, all while jack and ellie are thoroughly entertained and distracted. and if they somehow notice dave, and they do - he obviously can't stop by anf not hang out with them - you can easily say he came over to help with the cookies 🥰🥰🫢

-doesnt matter if you're a grown ass woman, Miguel sees you struggling to braid your hair and suddenly here he is, full dad mode, doing it for you,and depending on how close you two are, maybe he disguises it with "ugh, stop spending so much time messing around with that. If I do it for you will you get back to work? 🙄", but really it's just your new self proclaimed dad/tio wanting to help braid your hair and help you feel pretty and, oh, how he can fondly remember the last time he helped braid "his daughter's" hair...

-of course this evolves to him just loving to do things with your hair. Braid it, wear it natural, style it, use products on it, hes got you. you were just trying to put your hair in a lazy updo like a ponytail or bun and this man doesn't let you leave until he's got you completely combed out, hair braided with ribbons, and of course this entire time youre awkwardly sitting there in a chair in his absolute cave of a workstation with this gargantuan 6'9 man there, "so how was your day? Staying out of trouble?"

-really I mean. Is stealing other people's kids NOT technically in character for him. You're unfortunate enough to trauma bond with this man and you're never getting rid of him

-you hear Miles Morales call him tio (as in the tio meaning dude) and you jokingly teasingly start calling him tio, which Miguel secretly pretends is the version that means uncle. You're just constantly joking around or looking up at him with these big pouty eyes, "but tio 🥺 can't I PLEASE--" and its like. Lmao people know that if they need to ask Miguel for a favor, that it increases their chances to have you ask in their stead

- I mean, as a female adult abused as a child by my own father, raised by a single mom myself, like...

Reader flinches away when Peter B goes to give you a supportive pat on the back or comes in for a high five after a mission and you force yourself to laugh because you're feeling more than just a little awkward and in the spotlight. "Oh, sorry, that was dumb!" And they eventually get you to kind of anxiously word vomit "my dad used to just kind of, rough me up sometimes when I did something wrong! It-it could've been a lot worse honestly, but, it-it just makes me kinda jumpy around guys sometimes! It's not a big deal, or personal or anything. I'm sorry if I made you feel bad 🥺"

Peter B, Jessica, and Miguel all there as older parental figures and also literal parents, immediately exchange looks and agree like "oh hell naw, don't like that" and you get silently adopted by all three of em right then and there

-if it's a physically abusive father and you're still the victim of abuse, I imagine your dad had some suspicious figures suddenly show up in the middle of the night to terrify and threaten the shit out of him and suddenly you aren't getting as manhandled anymore

-can you imagine, like, you show up to Spider Society one day with a black eye "oh, this? It's, it's nothing. My dad is just, he's about to make police captain and he's really stressed about it is all" cue all your friends mentally high fiving around the table because your abusive piece of shit dad is going to die and you don't even know. When it happens they'll all be "oh no, sweetie, I'm SOOOO sorry :(" meanwhile they're thrilled bc now you don't have any parents and they can weasel in there as your new family, schedule your birthday parties, monopolizing more of your time, things like that

-goddd I just imagine it could become some kind of weird fucked up enmeshed scenario where the structure it's providing for your life is actually good for you meanwhile Miguel is like, retroactively kind of soothing some of his trauma both from his own childhood and what happened with the second universe he broke that it's just like. You're a grown ass adult and this man is tucking you in goodnight and saying "te amo, mija" at the doorway and you bet his ass is going to stand there and not let you sleep until you say it back. He knows you're just absolutely seething at him and he'll still refuse to leave without a grumbling "te amo, papá 🙄"

-He eventually just has you doing so much shit and depending on him so much that it starts to become second nature to you. one day you're in the Society doing one of the odd jobs you're allowed to help with and suddenly you're thinking, "Ugh I actually don't know what to do next, I wish Papá was here to-- WAIT SHIT NO I MEAN MIGUEL--"

-lmaooooo as a non Spanish speaker I keep thinking of how awwwwwful it would be if he actually forces you to learn Spanish. Not inherently because there's anything wrong with Spanish, but, I'm not always smart, and I can just SEE him quizzing your ass, forcing you to have entire conversations in Spanish, always clicking his tongue or chuckling at you when you make a mistake and he just thinks you're so cute struggling to learn 🥰 man hears you're trying to take extra lessons from Miles and he instantly drops everything he's doing to go track the little scamp down. -siiiiiiigh eventually the day comes when you're in big danger and you need his help, maybe you disobeyed him and was hanging out with some other Spiders in another dimension when there was a sudden villain attack, and he comes to your rescue as a villain does something dramatic like has a gun to your head or a knife to your neck and the second you see him you're just overwhelmed wirh a sense of relief, calling out for him, calling him dad/tio/papá whatever, and he's just like 😭❤️ pumping his fist internally, like YES you are so grounded when you get back home but also 🥰 you finally called him dad without him having to twist your arm 🥰 nevermind if the "villain" who kidnapped you was actually a Spider who owed him a favor, and this whole thing was to teach you a lesson about listening to your Papá, that's not important ❤️

-Miguel who forces you to learn Spanish vs Miguel who forces you to be Catholic. I can excuse kidnapping and forced adoption but I draw the line at making me practice religion 💀 no but seriously, he probably does have certain morals and values he instills/forces upon you if he thinks you need them, and he'll probably be one of those fathers, "are you leaving the house dressed like that? Go change" and orders you not to hang out with certain people he doesn't approve of or thinks have bad character (like hobie lmao)

-bruh you two will be on a super serious important mission and this man will be like "it's dark, hold my hand so we dont get separated"

Eventually it comes to a point where you're, not perfectly behaved but, just about. If someone finds Miguel, it means you're not very far away, or vice versa. Members of the Society quickly learn not to make any advances on you or make any "adult" comments unless they want to get suspiciously hurt during a personal training session by the big boss himself. You think you're safe just cause Miguel isn't around? summary: as written above! this is a sequel to the headcanon my little love, which i LOVED writing w my whole heart.

settling into married life was surprisingly not difficult. you'd already spent so much time around hangman that forever felt so comfortable

now everyone is so happy and in high spirits. but max is significantly happier than them all and it's so wholesome to see

rooster, or "fairy godmother" (max likes to call him the latter....yes...godmother, not godfather. you don't know why but it's so funny, especially when you watch rooster react to this), is always there to take care of your kiddo when you're busy

he let him sit in his F-14 and take a picture with him :)

and you're paranoid and worrying the whole time but rooster's like "relax, i got him" and he's super chill about it

"he's gonna be a pilot. better than you, even," you leaned over and gave your husband a look

"i think so!"

the kid lives and breathes top gun. and now that you've moved in with hangman, you're only a few minutes' walk from base, making it easy to go back and forth.

when you're working at the hard deck, penny sits him by the nearest booth with a milkshake and some old books and toys

if one of the uncles or phoenix wasn't busy, they'd come over to keep him entertained

and you know when hangman's done for the day when you see max break into his signature grin. you've noticed that you only really see it around him

so you're celebrating his fourth birthday today. it's insane, because he already speaks like a six year old (hangman says it's because you're also smart af. but, being the cocky lil shit he is, fanboy likes to take the credit for it. i mean, the guy majored in biochem, so he knows his stuff)

it's an off day for everyone, so they're able to come help decorate the place. you had the idea to surprise your son, so while everyone was getting ready, fanboy was with max by the beach, playing soccer. they'd come back in an hour and boom!

by the end of things, the hard deck doesn't look like the hard deck anymore. it looks like max's paradise—a kiddie version of top gun, you realize. your heart melts because 🥺🥺🥺

Hearing the beeping, you eyes glazed over as you pulled the instrument out, saliva feeling repulsively thick as you stared at the thermometer screen, your breaths short and your pajamas feeling abnormally warm, sticky and gross.

You’re absolutely burning up. You shouldn’t have gone with that plan. You knew. You knew, yet you still did it anyway.

“Just get on!” His arm is waving at you from afar, his white button up billowing in the summer breeze.

Suguru grunts as he looks towards his significant other’s camera, eyes flittering to both you and Shoko sharing secrets as she cups a hand over your ear. You’re both fine. That’s a relief.

His brown eyes darken with a thirst for payback. “Satoru~, help me out why don’tcha?” A chirp sweetened with an affectionate tone, a benevolent smile bestowed as he holds an amicable hand out, waiting to be helped up as he sits in the water, drenched to the very bone as his now translucent shirt begins to stick to his skin.

“Because it’s not healthy-“ His anger becomes slow irritation as he feels a vein pop when he sees Shoko poking the sweet potato with a pair of scissors.

10. opinion on nuzleaf's character? also were you surprised by that twist? the moment i found out nuzleaf was a father figure i had high hopes because i'm fucking insane about father figures in media, BUT after playing Super i ended up not caring much about him... AT FIRST. NOWADAYS he and partner are my reasons why i would play through that game again !!!! ***also if there is anyone who hasn't played Super yet and wants to stay spoiler-free SKIP THIS NEXT PART

sadly i was spoiled about nuzleaf before playing the game, but seeing his actions leading up to the reveal (my personal favorite being his frequent "outings" and i have a comic idea related to that) was fun. i need to stop yapping soon BUT i also enjoy how his character never feels like it's fully dishonest. even while under yveltal's influence, he takes you in and puts a roof over your head, yes to keep an eye on you bc you’re a threat to his plans, but also bc he still has a good heart deep down. but he also undeniably has darkness within him– it was just amplified by yveltal. his efforts to redeem himself to hero and maintain a relationship with them at the end of the game make his expressions of affection in the main story feel like they were real all along rather than just a facade 🥺
