#stop trump from ever holding office again

This is a November 12th, 2024 reminder that on March 4th, 2024, the Supreme Court of the United States ordered donald j. trump to have 87 Democrats in both houses of Congress remove his insurrectionist disqualification from ever holding any federal office again; because if he didn't, nothing, including MAGA SCOTUS, could stop Democrats in the House and Senate from disqualifying him; even if he wins the 2024 presidential election. He failed to do so prior to November 5, 2024. He's now counted down to his last 19 congressional business days of opportunity to resolve this matter.
*** Just wanted to include a huge thank you to everyone who is liking and reblogging this post and engaging by writing to your congressional representatives AND Democratic Leaders Schumer and Jeffries. You're all amazing and I appreciate you so much! For those asking when we'll be seeing this in the news, I'm working on that everyday; and every time anyone here on Tumblr engages like I mentioned above, it increases the chances that Leaders Schumer and Jeffries will speak about it on major media outlets. For everyone wanting to see this in the news sooner than later, please share this information with Marc Elias of Democracy Docket and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington via [email protected] and [email protected].
I'm so thankful that people here on Tumblr are feeling more hopeful after reading this post; because it was heartbreaking for me to witness the extent of the trauma and misery around this site immediately after the election. I hope this message finds everyone in a much better situation than they were in November 6th. Have a great day, everyone! ***
Between today, November 12th, 2024 and December 17th, 2024, donald j. trump has no choice but to go to Congress and have 70 Democrats in the House of Representatives and 17 Democrats in the Senate vote to remove his insurrectionist disqualification, as he was ordered to do by SCOTUS on March 4th, 2024, or he's not legally the President Elect and cannot be inaugurated, sworn in, or hold federal office again on January 20, 2025. The clock is ticking!
What will happen on December 17th, 2024 if donald j. trump hasn't cleared his insurrectionist disqualification via a two-thirds vote of both houses of Congress? Every Elector attempting to elect a known insurrectionist will be disqualified from being an Elector for engaging in and furthering insurrection against the United States. It is impossible for donald j. trump to remain as President Elect on December 17th, 2024; because every Elector in every state who attempts to vote for donald j. trump for President would then have to be immediately cleared of their insurrectionist disqualification by a two-thirds vote of their state legislature so that they could then vote for the only remaining legal, non-insurrectionist candidate. If donald j. trump hasn't cleared his insurrectionist disqualification by December 17, 2024, the only legal presidential candidate the Electoral College can vote for is Kamala Harris.
Article 2: Clause 3: Electoral College See also: Twelfth Amendment to the United States Constitution, Twentieth Amendment to the United States Constitution, Contingent election, Electoral College abolition amendment, Efforts to reform the United States Electoral College, and National Popular Vote Interstate Compact The Electors shall meet in their respective States, and vote by Ballot for two Persons, of whom one at least shall not be an Inhabitant of the same State with themselves. And they shall make a List of all the Persons voted for, and of the Number of Votes for each; which List they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the Seat of the Government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate. The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted. The Person having the greatest Number of Votes shall be the President, if such Number be a Majority of the whole Number of Electors appointed; and if there be more than one who have such Majority, and have an equal Number of Votes, then the House of Representatives shall immediately chuse [sic] by Ballot one of them for President; and if no Person have a Majority, then from the five highest on the List the said House shall in like Manner chuse [sic] the President. But in chusing [sic] the President, the Votes shall be taken by States, the Representation from each State having one Vote; A quorum for this Purpose shall consist of a Member or Members from two thirds of the States, and a Majority of all the States shall be necessary to a Choice. In every Case, after the Choice of the President, the Person having the greatest Number of Votes of the Electors shall be the Vice President. But if there should remain two or more who have equal Votes, the Senate shall chuse [sic] from them by Ballot the Vice President.
Electoral College Elector Selection Process Article II, Section 1, Clause 2 of the Constitution requires each state legislature to determine how electors for the state are to be chosen, but it disqualifies any person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, from being an elector. Under Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment, any person who has sworn an oath to support the United States Constitution in order to hold either a state or federal office, and later rebelled against the United States directly or by giving assistance to those doing so, is disqualified from being an elector. Congress may remove this disqualification by a two-thirds vote in each house. (Wikipedia)
For those who would argue this is misinformation due to donald trump's MAGA cult allies in the Senate preventing him from being convicted, the bipartisan congressional J6 Committee investigated donald j. trump for insurrection, found him guilty of insurrection, referred him for criminal prosecution for insurrection, and donald j. trump was indicted and is currently being prosecuted for insurrection by the Department of Justice (unless the case gets dropped). Section 3 of the 14th Amendment doesn't require a formal conviction, so the congressional investigation, finding of insurrection, and the congressional committee referral for criminal prosecution, along with the federal indictment and prosecution for insurrection, can easily be used to keep donald j. trump from ever holding federal office again. Per the Supreme Court of the United States' own Berger Test to disqualify judges, the ridiculous, nonsensical, unethical and illegal MAGA SCOTUS majority "ruling" pertaining to their attempted declaration of donald j. trump's permanent immunity from federal enforcement of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment means absolutely nothing for him, or any other insurrectionist; because it lacks standing in precedent, law, constitutionality, and relevance.
The three dissenting justices clarify that the only matter that was actually legally settled and, therefore, legally enforceable, pertained to state actions, not federal law enforcement actions against a disqualified insurrectionist presidential or federal candidate, such as donald j. trump, committing the federal crime of being an insurrectionist attempting to hold office without having their insurrectionist disqualification removed via a two-thirds vote of both houses. And so it is legal fact that the Supreme Court did, in fact, order donald j. trump to have his insurrectionist disqualification removed by a two-thirds vote of both houses on March 4th, 2024; it's just that donald j. trump and his legal team were too illiterate and unintelligent to actually read what was legal and had standing (state enforcement against federal candidates), and what didn't (MAGA SCOTUS whining and crying about federal enforcement against federal candidates/their presidential candidate). And MAGA SCOTUS is now permanently legally barred from ever addressing any matter pertaining to federal enforcement of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment against donald j. trump, so they can't even try to interfere on his behalf again should Democrats in the House of Representatives and the Senate demand and force a vote on the matter of donald j. trump's disqualification for holding federal office.
Berger v. United States, 255 U.S. 22 (1921), is a United States Supreme Court decision overruling a trial court decision by U.S. District Court Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis against Rep. Victor L. Berger, a Congressman for Wisconsin's 5th district and the founder of the Social Democratic Party of America, and several other German-American defendants who were convicted of violating the Espionage Act by publicizing anti-interventionist views during World War I.
The case was argued on December 9, 1920, and decided on January 31, 1921, with an opinion by Justice Joseph McKenna and dissents by Justices William R. Day, James Clark McReynolds, and Mahlon Pitney. The Supreme Court held that Judge Landis was properly disqualified as trial judge based on an affidavit filed by the German defendants asserting that Judge Landis' public anti-German statements should disqualify him from presiding over the trial of the defendants.
The House of Representatives twice denied Berger his seat in the House due to his original conviction for espionage using Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution regarding denying office to those who supported "insurrection or rebellion". The Supreme Court overturned the verdict in 1921 in Berger v. U.S., and Berger won three successive terms in the House in the 1920s.
Per the United States Supreme Court's "Berger test" that states that to disqualify ANY judge in the United States of America: 1) a party files an affidavit claiming personal bias or prejudice demonstrating an "objectionable inclination or disposition of the judge" and 2) claim of bias is based on facts antedating the trial.
All 6 criminal MAGA insurrectionist and trump-loyalist U.S. Supreme Court Justices who've repeatedly and illegally ruled in donald j. trump's favor are as disqualified from issuing any rulings pertaining to donald j. trump (a German immigrant) as the United States Supreme Court ruled U.S. District Court Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis was when he attempted to deny Victor L. Berger (a German immigrant) from holding office for violating the Espionage Act and supporting or engaging in insurrection or rebellion against the United States of America.
RULES OF THE SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES Rule 8. Disbarment and Disciplinary Action
Whenever a member of the Bar of this Court has been disbarred or suspended from practice in any court of record, or has engaged in conduct unbecoming a member of the Bar of this Court, the Court will enter an order suspending that member from practice before this Court and affording the member an opportunity to show cause, within 40 days, why a disbarment order should not be entered. Upon response, or if no response is timely filed, the Court will enter an appropriate order.
After reasonable notice and an opportunity to show cause why disciplinary action should not be taken, and after a hearing if material facts are in dispute, the Court may take any appropriate disciplinary action against any attorney who is admitted to practice before it for conduct unbecoming a member of the Bar or for failure to comply with these Rules or any Rule or order of the Court.
The only misinformation that exists surrounding the Anderson vs. trump ruling is the belief that the MAGA SCOTUS ruling on federal enforcement of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment against donald j. trump settled the matter and handed him permanent immunity from prosecution should he ever commit the federal crime of attempting to hold federal office. In legal fact, MAGA SCOTUS' nonsensical ruling attempting to grant donald j. trump permanent immunity from prosecution for insurrection is grounds for immediate and permanent disbarment; as they're clearly attempting to legislate from the bench and prevent Congress from legislating in a way that's unfavorable to their presidential candidate.
This is the only pertinent and legally important part of the Anderson vs. trump ruling with regards to federal enforcement of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment against donald j. trump or any other insurrectionist committing the federal crime of attempting to hold office without first having their insurrectionist disqualification removed by a two-thirds vote of both houses:
Justice Sotomayor, Justice Kagan, and Justice Jackson Opinion on the Majority Ruling (supremecourt.gov):
Yet the majority goes further. Even though “[a]ll nine Members of the Court” agree that this independent and sufficient rationale resolves this case, five Justices go on. They decide novel constitutional questions to insulate this Court and petitioner from future controversy. Ante, at 13. Although only an individual State’s action is at issue here, the majority opines on which federal actors can enforce Section 3, and how they must do so. The majority announces that a disqualification for insurrection can occur only when Congress enacts a particular kind of legislation pursuant to Section 5 of the Fourteenth Amendment. In doing so, the majority shuts the door on other potential means of federal enforcement. We cannot join an opinion that decides momentous and difficult issues unnecessarily, and we therefore concur only in the judgment.
Yet the Court continues on to resolve questions not before us. In a case involving no federal action whatsoever, the Court opines on how federal enforcement of Section 3 must proceed. Congress, the majority says, must enact legislation under Section 5 prescribing the procedures to “ ‘ “ascertain[ ] what particular individuals” ’ ” should be disqualified. Ante, at 5 (quoting Griffin’s Case, 11 F. Cas. 7, 26 (No. 5,815) (CC Va. 1869) (Chase, Circuit Justice)). These musings are as inadequately supported as they are gratuitous.
To start, nothing in Section 3’s text supports the majority’s view of how federal disqualification efforts must operate. Section 3 states simply that “[n]o person shall” hold certain positions and offices if they are oathbreaking insurrectionists. Amdt. 14. Nothing in that unequivocal bar suggests that implementing legislation enacted under Section 5 is “critical” (or, for that matter, what that word means in this context). Ante, at 5. In fact, the text cuts the opposite way. Section 3 provides that when an oathbreaking insurrectionist is disqualified, “Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.” It is hard to understand why the Constitution would require a congressional supermajority to remove a disqualification if a simple majority could nullify Section 3’s operation by repealing or declining to pass implementing legislation. Even petitioner’s lawyer acknowledged the “tension” in Section 3 that the majority’s view creates. See Tr. of Oral Arg. 31.
Similarly, nothing else in the rest of the Fourteenth Amendment supports the majority’s view. Section 5 gives Congress the “power to enforce [the Amendment] by appropriate legislation.” Remedial legislation of any kind, however, is not required. All the Reconstruction Amendments (including the due process and equal protection guarantees and prohibition of slavery) “are self-executing,” meaning that they do not depend on legislation. City of Boerne v. Flores, 521 U.S. 507, 524 (1997); see Civil Rights Cases, 109 U.S. 3, 20 (1883). Similarly, other constitutional rules of disqualification, like the two-term limit on the Presidency, do not require implementing legislation. See, e.g., Art. II, §1, cl. 5 (Presidential Qualifications); Amdt. 22 (Presidential Term Limits). Nor does the majority suggest otherwise. It simply creates a special rule for the insurrection disability in Section 3.
The majority is left with next to no support for its requirement that a Section 3 disqualification can occur only pursuant to legislation enacted for that purpose. It cites Griffin’s Case, but that is a nonprecedential, lower court opinion by a single Justice in his capacity as a circuit judge. See ante, at 5 (quoting 11 F. Cas., at 26). Once again, even petitioner’s lawyer distanced himself from fully embracing this case as probative of Section 3’s meaning. See Tr. of Oral Arg. 35–36. The majority also cites Senator Trumbull’s statements that Section 3 “ ‘provide[d] no means for enforcing’ ” itself. Ante, at 5 (quoting Cong. Globe, 41st Cong., 1st Sess., 626 (1869)). The majority, however, neglects to mention the Senator’s view that “[i]t is the [F]ourteenth [A]mendment that prevents a person from holding office,” with the proposed legislation simply “affor[ding] a more efficient and speedy remedy” for effecting the disqualification. Cong. Globe, 41st Cong., 1st Sess., at 626–627.
Ultimately, under the guise of providing a more “complete explanation for the judgment,” ante, at 13, the majority resolves many unsettled questions about Section 3. It forecloses judicial enforcement of that provision, such as might occur when a party is prosecuted by an insurrectionist and raises a defense on that score. The majority further holds that any legislation to enforce this provision must prescribe certain procedures “ ‘tailor[ed]’ ” to Section 3, ante, at 10, ruling out enforcement under general federal statutes requiring the government to comply with the law. By resolving these and other questions, the majority attempts to insulate all alleged insurrectionists from future challenges to their holding federal office.
“What it does today, the Court should have left undone.” Bush v. Gore, 531 U.S. 98, 158 (2000) (Breyer, J., dissenting). The Court today needed to resolve only a single question: whether an individual State may keep a Presidential candidate found to have engaged in insurrection off its ballot. The majority resolves much more than the case before us. Although federal enforcement of Section 3 is in no way at issue, the majority announces novel rules for how that enforcement must operate. It reaches out to decide Section 3 questions not before us, and to foreclose future efforts to disqualify a Presidential candidate under that provision. In a sensitive case crying out for judicial restraint, it abandons that course.
Section 3 serves an important, though rarely needed, role in our democracy. The American people have the power to vote for and elect candidates for national office, and that is a great and glorious thing. The men who drafted and ratified the Fourteenth Amendment, however, had witnessed an “insurrection [and] rebellion” to defend slavery. §3. They wanted to ensure that those who had participated in that insurrection, and in possible future insurrections, could not return to prominent roles. Today, the majority goes beyond the necessities of this case to limit how Section 3 can bar an oathbreaking insurrectionist from becoming President. Although we agree that Colorado cannot enforce Section 3, we protest the majority’s effort to use this case to define the limits of federal enforcement of that provision. Because we would decide only the issue before us, we concur only in the judgment.
What all of that means is that between now and December 17th, 2024, donald j. trump has no choice but to go to Congress and have 70 Democrats in the House of Representatives and 17 Democrats in the Senate vote to remove his insurrectionist disqualification, as he was ordered to do by SCOTUS on March 4th, 2024, or he's not legally the President Elect and cannot be inaugurated, sworn in, or hold federal office again on January 20, 2025. The clock is down to 19 days, and ticking!
Here's why this will work: donald trump's legal tactics are deny, attempt to wiggle out of it on technicalities, and delay, delay, delay. Well, from November 2023 to March 4, 2024, donald trump not only said that he was never an officer of the United States, but that he also never swore an oath to support the United States Constitution. And then he said that Section 3 of the 14th Amendment says nothing about running for office, only holding office, and since he's only running for office, nothing can keep him off the ballot. And that's where this has finally caught up to him.
SCOTUS illegally took the case to begin with. Per the U.S. Constitution, SCOTUS was required to kick the case back to Congress immediately to force a two-thirds vote of both houses to remove or enforce donald trump's insurrectionist disqualification, and that would've settled the entire matter within a day. But they illegally denied Congress the ability to vote on it at the time, illegally legislated from the bench to keep donald trump on the ballot by illegally amending Section 3 of the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution, and dismissed the clear two-thirds vote requirement to replace it with "Congress must pass new legislation and amend Section 3 of the 14th Amendment in order to keep insurrectionists off of the ballot and out of office in the future. All six MAGA SCOTUS injustices can now be immediately and permanently disbarred from ever judging or practicing law anywhere in the United States now and in the future for that illegal legislating from the bench; because the U.S. Constitution clearly says that the Judiciary can never interfere with Congress legislating, or with the President enforcing the laws of the United States.
donald trump and his allies figured that was a win, that SCOTUS couldn't be challenged, that the Democrats could never get legislation passed to keep him off the ballot or from holding office again, and the matter was dropped. But that's where he was wrong; because Section 3 of the 14th Amendment still reads, and only legally reads, that the only way an insurrectionist can hold federal office again is by a two-thirds vote removing their insurrectionist disqualification in both the House of Representatives and the Senate; and that means that now that donald trump can't try and use the technicality of "I'm not even trying to hold office, I'm just running for office," and he's actively trying to hold office with no technicality wiggle room, donald trump's only path to the White House is to have 70 Democrats in the House of Representatives and 17 Democrats in the Senate vote to remove his insurrectionist disqualification by December 17th, 2017; and his favorite tactic of delay, delay, delay won't work because delaying means he can't be inaugurated, sworn in, and serve as the 47th President of the United States; and that means Kamala Harris would become 47th President of the United States by default.
donald j. trump is actively engaging in the federal crime of attempting to hold federal office while being an impeached and criminally indicted insurrectionist. Chuck Schumer can easily force the Section 3 vote in the Senate; and if donald j. trump gets no Democrat votes in the Senate, then the House vote is unnecessary. If MAGA mike johnson refuses to allow a House vote, then that's an instant disqualification for insurrectionist donald j. trump.

Here's a form letter that'll be under 1980 characters no matter if you're contacting House Democratic Leader Jeffries or Senate Democratic Leader Schumer. Just copy and paste the text into the contact form. If these Democratic leaders receive hundreds of these messages from different IP/Internet addresses, we'll have their attemtion. If they receive thousands of these messages from different IP/Internet addresses, we might see this in the news. If they receive tens of thousands of these messages from different IP/Internet addresses, we might finally be free from the threat of another donald trump presidency (turnout is everything in this fight for our human and civil rights, freedoms, and literal survival as non-trump supporters and non-MAGA cult members).
Dear Democratic Leader Jeffries,
My family, loved ones, friends, and I are greatly concerned that Donald J. Trump and all of his MAGA allies, supporters, enablers, donors, and voters have what clearly appear to be genocidal intentions to all American non-Trump supporters and voters whom they call, "traitors, anti-American, enemies from within, very bad people, very dangerous people, racists, radicals, extremists, communists, Marxists, fascists, thugs, liars, sick, ugly, stupid, mindless, thoughtless, brainless, disabled, deranged, criminals, rapists, cheaters, sleazebags, low-lifes, scum, trash, genetically inferior, weak, poison, insects, animals, rats, snakes, and vermin" on a regular basis. As I'm sure that you and all elected Democrat representatives at every level across the United States are aware, Donald J. Trump was not granted permanent immunity from federal enforcement of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment in the SCOTUS ruling for Anderson vs. Trump on March 4, 2024; and the moment Donald J. Trump was declared the President Elect, he was committing the federal crime of attempting to hold office while being an impeached and indicted insurrectionist without first having that insurrectionist disqualification removed by a two-thirds vote of both houses of Congress. Donald J. Trump and his MAGA cult appear to intend to not only deport 15 million people, but to also engage in undeniable genocide and ethnic and cultural cleansing against half the population of the United States (using voter registration as a "vermin" purge mechanism). Thankfully, per the Supreme Court's own Berger Test to disqualify judges, Donald J. Trump's MAGA SCOTUS allies can never intervene on any of his legal cases again, so if you would please bring the matter of a two-thirds vote to the House of Representatives for an immediate vote by no later than December 11th, 2024, my fellow Americans and I would greatly appreciate it.
Respectully,
An American patriot

If Only You Would Know
HenryCavill!Sherlock x Female!Reader
summary: You and Sherlock are in love, Enola is sure of it. But she is forced to watch you tiptoe around the topic for an eternity. So when the opportunity arises, and Sherlock is forced to confront his feelings towards you, she does not hesitate.
a/n: we're diggin' out old old drafts for this one, but I needed a little Sherlock again :)
word count: 4k
warnings: a little arguing, pining, someone gets injured, idiots in love™️ (it's a new genre of mine)
・゚✫* 𝒎𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒎𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒕 。✭・゚
You sighed as Sherlock moved about his office with hasty determination. He was a strange man. Oblivious, too, time and time again. But that did not matter for you loved him. You loved him and every strange habit he harbored. Whether it was the way in which he arranged his coats on the brass hanger by the door or that godawful pipe he seemed to always have hanging from his lips. He did not even like it - he had told you one time. “’tis just a habit, dear,” it would muffle past the brown bit in his mouth before he would clip it back between his teeth.
But you did not care. And that must have been the very fact telling you just how deeply your heart had already fallen for the famous detective. Not a care in the world, especially not for what other people thought to say the least. Because all you ever thought about upon seeing him was love, warmth, and endearment. Nothing less. Not even a wretched criminal could ever shoot these feelings out of your heart.
Oh well, it did not matter, anyhow. For there was one issue keeping this fairytale from becoming reality. And this issue was that Sherlock Holmes, the brightest man you knew, was blatantly oblivious to the feelings you had harbored in your chest. To be fair, you had never mentioned it to him before. For you were simply terrified of the consequences such a confession would hold. It was one thing to pine over a man who you were lucky enough to be in the same room with, but it would be undeniably humiliating to be rejected by said man as well. So you had chosen not to act on the fiery desire burning within your veins whenever your eyes hushed a glance at him.
As much as that decision was made to protect your heart, it had turned out the circumstances provided the opposite of the desired effect. You were hurting more and more with every day you had to live with the realization that Sherlock Holmes did not love you back. In fact, he loved other women - many of them. And every single one more beautiful than the other. Sometimes you found yourself wondering if they were human at all. Never before had you seen such luscious hair as that of Sibyl or such a beautiful smile as that of Amelia. It was difficult to settle with these gorgeous women having a place in his bed and possibly his heart, but soon, you realized the importance of seeing him happy trumped your own desires. If he was happy, so were you. And if you weren’t the one making him happy, so be it.
You had just come here to see Enola from her home to the city. Stopping by her brother’s apartment had not been on the agenda, at least not yours. But Enola was adamant to have you come when she raced up the stairs to his door. You had gasped when Sherlock had opened, his hair slightly disheveled and the shirt loosely tugged in his trousers. Your heart was pounding - it always happened when you saw him, and you swiftly averted your eyes to hide the flustered look on your face from him.
Now you were standing in his messy home as you listened to Enola convince him to let her help him on a particular case of his - one she had a personal attachment to. Mixed emotions crawled up your spine at the sight of this professional yet intimate space. Not only one room over, Sherlock's bed was mockingly standing beyond the door, messy sheets indicating his prior endeavors, but there was no Sibyl or Amelia in sight. Still, your hands clamped around the silky material of your skirt, wrinkling the fabric harsher with every minute you spend in the deep-colored room. It smelled of musk and tobacco. Two things you had grown to miss whenever they were not surrounding you, but now, it was a shiver too much.
Sherlock stood before you and Enola with his hands on his hips, a look of annoyance and disapproval etched on his features, but nonetheless, a sense of amusement in the edges of his frown. You knew him too well not to notice the slight pride swelling from his chest at his little sister’s determination.
“I believe it is too dangerous for a girl like you to wander the streets, chasing criminals through London, Enola.”
“And I believe that you are an idiot, brother.”
“Perhaps,” your finger lifted in suggestion, stopping Sherlock’s head from tilting in disapproval at his sister’s array just in time. “She can be accompanied in her wandering?”
“And who would this accompany be?”
You knew it was not your place to negotiate, but you cared for Enola too much not to. And even though Sherlock’s stern eyes bore into your frame, you began to talk again: “I could-“
“Oh, dear lord. That is out of question.”
“Why brother? Do you not think Ms. Y/N and I can defend ourselves?”
A short silence lay upon the siblings as you watched the man’s shoulders draw up with a tense jaw. “I said no.”
“You are being irrational.” Enola cried. She was not one to accept defiance easily, you were well aware of it.
“No, you are being irrational. I will not vouch for having two women hurt on a mission to gather intel for my cases.”
“You cannot stop me.”
There was something itching in the glimmer of his eyes when the words left his lips, though you weren’t quite sure what to make of it.
“Enola!” Almost fearfully, Sherlock turned to you, his eyes wandering and desperation conveyed in his stare when you heard the young girl open the door.
“I am sure we can negotiate a way to have both parties satisfied.” Enola halted as you spoke. “I am certain your bother has other tasks that need fulfilling and are less prone to danger. Isn’t that right, Mr. Holmes?”
Sherlock was not entirely satisfied with this turn of events, but his sagging shoulders told you that he accepted the compromise. A sigh eluded from his lungs and Enola turned to the dark-haired man with excited eyes. “I presume, there would be things you could do.”
“Thank you–“
“But,” his eyes turned stern again, “In the office only. No more wandering, is that clear?”
Enola beamed. “Yes.”
❁ ❁ ❁
It was not long after the discussion when you and Enola went about home from the city. Still, however, despite the seemingly fair compromise negotiated just minutes prior, the younger woman sloppily trudged next to you.
“He is an idiot, that is what he is.” Enola stomped past you with a pouty face. It was not ladylike, but luckily, she knew that you were not one to care about that.
You understood Enola’s frustrations, but simultaneously, your heart were to break if anything ever happened to her. So you understood the settled worry in her brother’s words as well. He was a good man. “He is just worried. It means he cares.”
“Well, he could care a little less and let me do my job.” You hid a smirk. Only Enola would be as adamant about saving a boy she had only met days ago. She was just as goodhearted and justice-seeking as Sherlock, and your heart warmed at the similarities the siblings shared.
“It is not your job, Enola.” Sometimes you genuinely admired her fixation, though it mostly converted into trouble, still. Enola had a lot more freedom than you did when you were her age, and you too would have sprung at any chance to go and wander about, seeking adventures and perhaps a little more than that. Which was in turn, why your heart felt torn between the fulfillment of having her seek childhood dreams, and the subtle but strong tug Sherlock Holmes held you with.
“Did you forget what we just found out yesterday? It seems no one cares about him. And if nobody else will do it, I consider it my duty to help.”
“Enola, dear.” You held her shoulders gently. “I understand your worries, but I understand your brother’s as well. I would be just as worried about you if something were to happen, and I do not want to see you hurt, either.”
“But we have to do something!” This was true. It would not be right to leave the boy framed with false accusations when you had the power to change his fate. There was something you could gather - information that may help him be acquitted.
“How about I go?” You silently cursed your good intentions as Enola’s eyes lit up. It was a blessing and a curse. But other than Enola, there would be nobody worrying for you, and in turn a lot less hearts broken if something were to happen - which it surely would not. “You can stay in the study and I will see to it that we may gather more information.”
“Alright, but be careful. And make sure to come back by five. Otherwise, someone will get suspicious.” The girl smiled, but her shoulders shook with excitement.
“What? Do you think I’m stupid?” You teased, awaiting a sassy ‘of course not’ which you returned with a wink.
❁ ❁ ❁
Enola watched the clock next to the window. Seconds, ticking by too fast for her liking. She needed more time - you needed more time. Her brother had given her files to sort and he would be coming back soon. Upon your agreement yesterday, you had gone out to gather information on the woman who accused the boy. But you would be back soon, she told herself.
“Is Ms. Y/N not here with you?” Sherlock’s voice called through the room and his steps approached her steadily.
Enola was stiff. “She is out,” she told him while her fingers counted the pile of files on the desk.
“Out? With who?” He stepped around the polished mahogany, settling in front of her with his hands behind his back. “I didn’t realize she was being courted.”
Oh. Enola’s eyes sparkled with amusement when she obtained a glimmer of jealousy in her brother’s. She had always had her suspicions. And she knew of your being madly in love with her brother, but Sherlock had always been secretive regarding the topic of love.
“She went to shop,” she smiled, averting her eyes. Waiting - no, anticipating a response from him.
“So she is not with anyone.” Sherlock leaned forward with squinted eyes. For a man as good at solving puzzles as he was, he did need an awful lot of confirmation.
Enola finally looked up. “Ugh, you really are an idiot.”
“Would you quit calling me an idiot?” Disapproval swept his features and made a frown settle instead.
“I would, but you won’t quit being an idiot.”
“Whatever do you mean?” It was quite amusing to see him clueless for once. And even though you tried to hide your feelings or the way you responded whenever he was as much as in the same room as you, it did not go past Enola how long your eyes lingered on his frame or the way the sadness overtook your features at the mention of another woman.
“Ms. Y/N is head over heels in love with you. And I do not understand why you refuse to see it, she is not hiding it very well, you see?”
Sherlock stumbled back, his hands seemingly finding their pace over his heart when he repeated her words. “Ms. Y/N? In love with me?”
“And you really call yourself the greatest detective of our time.” Enola shook her head. Still, the thought of the two of you together was one she liked to entertain. And she asked herself just how much you could talk Sherlock into once you were together. He was already caving when you suggested things - the possibilities of Enola getting her way when the both of you finally gave into the pining were endless!
“Oh, hush. I just never thought she would...” Sherlock trailed off, and if Enola was not mistaken, she caught a whisper of pink settle over his cheeks. Could it really be? The great Sherlock Holmes in love? Even better with a woman Enola adored as well?
“This is exactly the problem, brother. You don’t think when it comes to women.” Her mind wandered back to the women you had seen leave his chambers by the break of dawn. And just like then, Enola noticed a familiar sense of sadness wash over her brother’s eyes - the same one you hid from her in these moments.
“Enola...” But his words died on his tongue and Enola thought it wiser to resume her task. Sherlock was aware of his idiocy. For Enola knew just how insignificant all the other women were to him. And she hoped he had realized this fact.
A moment or two passed in which Sherlock paced the room mindlessly. His hands disappeared behind curtains and in bookshelves, until they reached for the pocket watch in his coat and a subtle grumbling eluded his lungs. “She should be back soon, anyhow. Should she not?”
“I suppose, yes.”
“Well, it is quarter past five already. The shop is closed well over an hour now.” Sherlock did not hide the impatience in his tone, now. And Enola felt a wave of success wash over her.
It was difficult to hide her nervousness, though, for she now worried about you as well. But you were fine - she consoled herself. You were tough and intelligent, simply a little late - that was surely it. “She will come soon.”
An unusual tension fell over the room and Enola was certain, her brother had already dismissed her little story. But she would not falter. Her fingers kept cramming through the papers, counting pages she had analyzed and sorted two times by now. Her movements, however, became more frantic, and soon, her heart was pounding in her wrists.
“Enola, what in heavens did you do?” Sherlock urged impatiently, a look cold as a stone set on his face.
“Nothing.” She did not look at him, then he would know instantly - the little lie she told.
“You sent her out to spy didn’t you?”
Why did he keep asking if he already knew the answer? Enola did not speak. She was fairly ashamed, though. She wanted to show her brother just how capable she and you both were. But having you not come back made for a serious difficulty to her plan.
She looked up at him now, just in time to see his shoulders sag and his head tilted up in frustration. “After I told you not to?”
“You only ever forbid me from going!” She cried, suddenly feeling attacked by his irrational outburst.
“I did not want Ms. Y/N out in the streets alone, either.” Sherlock was pacing again, his shoes clicked on the polished wooden floor until the reached the coat hanger by the door, only to gruffly rip the dark cloak from its place.
An accusing finger reached in his direction and a small smirk appeared on his sister’s lips. “So you are in love with her.”
The man frowned and his chestnut locks shook with annoyance. “That is not important right now. We need to find her.”
He did not deny it and Enola Holmes viewed it as a success.
❁ ❁ ❁
Sherlock swept through the streets as fast as his feet could carry him. Never had he thought that he would need to worry about your well-being. Enola’s? Yes, constantly. She did dangerous things all the time. But you were the one with the rational mind, the trait he adored most above all, for it eased his own every so often. It was enough to look out for Enola as much. He loved her and that was what love did: It made for weaknesses. Though Sherlock never wished to not adore you as much as he did, at this moment, it would have spared him trouble.
He passed another alley filled with dubious fellows and willed his thoughts not to stray to dark paces. Normally, he could stay focused. Normally, he was able to separate his feelings from his tasks very well. Normally, he needn’t worry about you, however.
Enola was many steps behind, he could hear her heels clicking in haste in her catching up, but Sherlock would not budge. He would keep on searching, keep on going straight until his sister gave him another direction to follow. She knew where you were after all, and he could not even begin to indulge in the worry-consumed anger this fact fueled him with.
It did not take long for the detective to reach the house of the last suspect he had abandoned in his search for answers. You must have gone there. Enola had been especially furious about his dropping the woman upon questioning, urging her brother to stay on the lead. But Sherlock had already gotten enough information to place her in the entire scheme. Enola did not know this of course - he had never told her. So it was only plausible to send you to spy on said woman. What you had not known, however, was the dangerous affiliates this woman had, and the little to no hesitance of hers to pursue them.
The house lay empty on the street once the siblings reached its steps, no light shining through the glass windows, not the smell of dinner lingering in the air. It was odd, though nothing to be upset over. You had been here, Sherlock knew it. He was disappointed to find out, however, that you were not anymore. Of course, you had realized the danger of the situation and left, but where to?
His head jerked to the left once Enola caught up to him, following the rattling of bins coming from the alley close by, where a faint trail of blood droplets mixed with the rain.
“Bloody hell,” the detective mumbled with every inch it lead him further to your location. And sure enough, beyond the shielding confines of a wooden palette, he spotted your coat pressed into the wall.
A small hiss, and then: nothing when he called your name.
“Ms. Y/N, heavens!” He rushed over once his eyes caught your distraught face behind the wood, your entire hand covered in blood, pressed to your head, where more seemed to have already dried on your scalp.
“Mr. Holmes?” Your voice was weak, your eyes hazy - growing in the confusion the head injury most likely brought to you.
Sherlock's arms reached out to engulf you, a handkerchief quick to be pressed on your head as he knelt beside you and let your body rest against his torso. “Enola, go and get help, immediately!” He commanded with urgency, having the young girl run off with a shocked nod.
His attention traced back to your body, where his eyes focused on your heavy lids and his heart clenched at the sight. You were hurt - seriously hurt - and Sherlock could not shake the feeling of it being his fault. Had he only consulted you in his case, had he talked to Enola, had he been less cowardly and finally admitted to his feelings. This all might have never happened.
“You should not have gone out alone!” He cried as he rocked you back and forth, his arms held you a little tighter, and he was certain that his heart beat through the several layers of clothing separating you.
“You have no right to rule over me.” Your hands pressed against his chest, forcing him to let you pull away from his embrace, and Sherlock instantly missed the warmth holding you had given him. He needed it back - confirming you were fine.
“But I told you not to go!” Big eyes stared up at him, but there was disappointment simmering beneath the sheer gleam of anger.
“Why are you upset? I can do whatever I desire!” It was meant to come out strong, but not even a woman as tough as you were able to hide the weakness taking over your body.
“But you got hurt!” Sherlock was juggling with empty arguments, he knew this much. But there was no right way to express what he wished to pursue with his words. It was all too much and not enough, all the same.
“Mr. Holmes, I can take good care of myself. I have done it my whole life.”
“And you shouldn’t have.” This seemed to have caught you by surprise. For you stopped in your shuffling away and held his gaze equal in confusion and intrigue.
“Whatever do you mean?” You shrieked softly, your breath staggering when he came closer to you.
Sherlock found it incredibly difficult to talk, suddenly. His hands were clammy and that stupid tie around his neck seemed just a tad too tight. Christ, he could not even look at you. He was left staring towards the wet grounds with his hands wringing beneath him.“I- it has come to my attention that I lack perception in some categories.” He hushed a look at you and was not surprised to see utter confusion seeping through your stare.
Sherlock sighed and his shoulders jumped heavily once he mustered up the courage to explain: “I do not wish to see you hurt.”
“Why?” Your eyes were big and wondrous, much like a curious child prying up in awe over what it was to become privy of.
Sherlock tried, he really did, to be steady and informative, but there was no use, for his heart had decided otherwise. “Because... because, I- my heart hurts when I imagine something happening to you.”
“But what about Sybil or Amelia… or Babette?” Every name stung another hole in his heart as your eyes saddened naming the woman he had spent previous nights with in order to get over you. He never loved them, never adored them the way he did you. They were simply a distraction. A petty compromise for the actual being he was sure would never return his affection. Now that he found out the opposite, Sherlock was uncertain about how to act.
“These women... they were just compensation for the one I couldn’t have.” He confessed slowly, his hand reaching for you and finally getting ahold of your chin. “I did not think you would be interested in me.”
“Oh but I am, Sherlock.” Your fingers came to cover his. “I am.” And an unbelievable force of warmth and calmness washed over him. Despite the blood, despite the worry. Despite everything being wrong at this very moment, he was calm. You had this effect on him.
“I know that now. My sister told me.” Sherlock sent a silent prayer to the stars. Had his sister not been as persistent he would have never gotten the opportunity to hold you close - feel you the way he desired.
“She is quite a smart lady isn’t she?” A low chuckle echoed through the darkening alley, though a shy blush crept upon the detective’s cheeks.
“As much as I hate to admit it, she is a good detective.” His thumbs stroked gentle swipes over your skin, a sliver of warmth tasting your body with every movement, and it felt good to have you indulge in his touch. He would have never dreamt of having you this close, having you feel the same feelings he did. And to be perfectly honest, experiencing it, in reality, was a hundred times better than anything he had ever imagined. “God, Y/N. If only I had known earlier.”
“Let us not grieve what is already done. Embrace the possibilities of the future with me.” Your eyes locked with his once again and your aura seemed to pull him even deeper into a trance. Sherlock could not look away. He was captured by every loving emotion radiating off of you. It was unlike anything he had ever felt before. But he would keep it guarded in his chest for eternity, even if nobody were to ever ask him about it. It was precious - this moment was worth hundred terrible ones.
“You are right,” he agreed, and then, beyond his control almost, Sherlock pulled you into a warm kiss.

you do realize that jill stein basically is in with the russians and is in putin’s back pocket? she’s practically a russian asset. it’s so obvious that she doesn’t truly understand or cares about how the us political system works and opts to speak political misinformation. if she truly wants to be a good candidate she needs to start at the local governments rather than jumping into the presidential ballot every four years to basically steal votes? she’s just appropriating the current movements that would potentially give her some votes without an actual plan for anything. she’s “anti war” but takes money from lockheed martin? be so fr rn now.
what’s her plan for a ceasefire? a two party state does she understand how the government would come to that? she’s antivax and spreads conspiracy theories - one of the reasons why we even lost in 2016 is bc of people like you voting for her.
it’s unfortunate, believe me, that we even have a two party system. i hate it but that’s simply how the government works and there’s nothing we could do to change that right now, but if you’re voting for hee then you’re voting against women and the lgbt and poc in the us as well. if trump does end of winning this election bc of voters who vote third party, like how he won in 2016, the us is going to be so much worse than what we could possibly ever imagine. there’s so much at stake this election cycle it’s mind boggling.
if she really wanted to be president, she’d start at local elections and work her way up rather than just jumping onto certain states ballots every four years for the presidential election tbh.
You got proof that she receives millions of dollars from Russian lobbies? Because there's proof that Kamala, Biden and Hilary all received millions of dollars from Israeli lobbies in the form of AIPAC publicly announcing that they use lobbying money for them without any shame, they literally don't try to hide it. Yet I don't see you rushing in to call them or any other AIPAC's recipients an 'Israel's asset" or accuse them of being in Bibi's back-pocket......even though they are.
Here's a video of Stein's fundraiser director debunking her receiving money from Lockheed Martin: X
Trump was the first person to become a US's president without any political or military history, people thought it was just a joke when the funny old man from Celebrity Apprentice ran for office yet he won and there's a chance he will win again, so I don't see why holding any local government should be obligatory for 3rd party before jumping straight into the presidential ballot.
I already said everything I wanted to say about voting for 3rd party here X, frankly I have no interests on putting Stein on a pedestal or convincing others that she's a morally good person, all I care about is that she does the bare minimum of "doesn't unconditionally support a genocide against my people" and is the only 3rd party candidate who has any chance of winning, so that's more than enough for me.
But back to you, everything you said is so fucking narcissistic, telling people that are dying that its "simply how the government works and there’s nothing we could do to change that right now" must be easy for you to say because you're not the direct victim of the US's imperialism, but its not our fault that you're such a spineless complicit who believes the US simply can not exist without genocidal war-criminals running the government at all time and everyone who suffers from it should shut up and stop being an inconvenience because things will not change for them and instead they should put your needs and wants before their very lives.
Through-out human history many empires that were considered the strongest in the world came and went, the US empire isn't an exception and if it can't change from within then eventually it will be forcibly changed from the outside and its mostly likely the latter, since asking you to grow a conscious is asking for too much.
Also I just don't understand why you people talk about women, people of color and gay people as if they only exist in the US or that them living in the US while Republicans are in office is somehow worse than living in a country that is currently being bombed by the US? Democrats' bombs kills women, Democrats' bombs kills people of color, Democrats' bombs kills LGBT community, matter of fact Democrats' bombs kills as many people as Republican bombs do, so explain to me how things will be worse for women/PoC/LGBT exactly if the Republican win? Because Republican were in office from 2017 to 2021 and I didn't see minorities in the US being indiscriminately killed by the thousands in day-light without any repercussions for their murder, but they are being killed overseas, both by Republican and Democrats while you are here busy making up cartoonishly-evil scenarios about how the things that are happening to them will happen to you if people vote 3rd party and the Republicans win because of that.
Spoiler Alert: No it will not, you will continue living a safe peaceful life in a developed nation without having to fear 60,000 tons of bombs being dropped on you while you're hiding in a tent in a refugee camp or searching for food among rubble regardless of who wins, whether its the red, blue or green party. So at the very least vote for a 3rd party so that other people from other countries will enjoy the same privilege as you instead of making up ridiculous stories about how all of your human rights will be stripped away if the blue war-criminal wasn't in office so therefore those annoying victims of war should be quiet and not dare suggest the heinous crime of voting for a 3rd part.
#I'm not even a US citizen#the only reason I'm involved is because your government effects not just my life but the lives of everyone in my region#green party#jill stein

"No Food has entered"
Oh my, why would food do such a thing? How could food do it anyhow? Strange.
It would seem kind of important, unless this is pure propaganda, to add that our country's current admin. and Israel are the ones blocking food and aid. to purposely starve 400,000 + people. And to mention also that Biden/Harris/Blinken personally signed off on attacking aid trucks and ambulances.
Aid trucks and ambulances.
It's absurdist, agonizing really, reading western headlines as they constantly try to twist reality daily. When you watch the events yourself or see them live streamed online, only to see headlines moments later which purposely misinform, it becomes even more clear how much the western media keeps people in a manipulated bubble. Which was clear anyhow but it sure does become more apparent when you really see it in action working overtime.
I'm sad and somewhat surprised to watch the 'left', Dems mostly, of the USA be so quiet. People who seemed good at picking apart those police shooting articles saying, 'a police officer was holding a gun today when 3 of the bullets inside it killed a teen'. You know, where it's obvious they write anything to distort responsibility or even blame the victim? Now headline after headline is the same about our actions in the world and there is so much---silence!? Is the manipulation just working really well, or people are ignoring it for the election? Why does the Democrat's morality always seems to stop at the border? I certainly can't expect much humanity from Republicans.
I was always deeply hurt learning about the holocaust. I was a rather weird kid who studied all of those things very early on, including Cambodia, Pol Pot, Vietnam, more recent world history in general than my classes ever approached. Call me crazy but, I thought the lesson was that we could never let that happen again to anyone. To PEOPLE. To ANYONE.
Now it feels like we could be shoving people into gas chambers, we're already starving them and burning them alive, and it's like hey, isn't this great we just can't let this happen to Jewish people again? I'm like what the living fuck, this isn't what I signed up for. No one should be treated this way, nobody.
How can people here defend women's rights -- then be quiet about your nation helping to starve half a million women and children to death? No conflict there?
Is this what Trump did to us, is this our national soul now even for those who oppose him? Saying nothing while burning people alive in hospital beds!?
Trump is obviously a walking piece of living excrement and certainly isn't better in any regard, but anyone able to stay silent or not criticize your own nation and party as 100 thousand people are murdered in your name, as entire populations are being purposely starved, if it's just because they think it might spoil the election and it's 'not the time', how are they possibly a better human than he is?
Harris has now fully committed herself to this horror sadly, she said there was not single mistake made, and that she would have done NOTHING differently this year. Nothing. She added she will put NO RESTRICTIONS on Israel. Affirming she far right of Richard Nixon of all people, who you can see on historic videos warning people why we should never ever write Israel a blank check or they will bomb everyone in the region. It's truly weird to listen to Dick fucking Nixon explain why you need peace and love in the world more than the current Democrat running in 2024, things are probably a bit out of hand.
So what would be much for Americans? Democrats for that matter, it's not like I can expect Republicans to grow a heart if they ever had any, but everyone else? Because it's feeling like there is no limit. Officially it's over 41,000 but we know the number is more likely over 100k.
There are now over one million people displaced in a week. Is that not too much??
Then there is Aaron Bushnell, a 25 yo US serviceman who set himself aflame this year, burned himself alive saying it doesn't even compare to what Palestinians are going through, and notice how few Americans seem to give a shit or notice? Democrats seemed awfully offended by Trumps treatment of the military and yet our own soldiers set themselves on FIRE? Killing themselves in protest and, nothing?
400,000 in Gaza with no food since October 1. Are we going to just sit and wait for them to starve? This isn't a natural disaster. Civilians, women, children killed in mass numbers and this is still the good side of the country? How can anyone discuss something as important as abortion and women's rights while starving and bombing women and children in great numbers and not find that a bit...conflicting?
It was so soulless to see this morning, after watching the IDF burn people alive as it happened this week -- that Sky News had the gal to use those VERY images, those of burning people alive in hospital beds, with a story instead about Iran's missile attack, that killed no one, from a week earlier. Knowing people will likely conclude the terrible things they are seeing were not done by the IDF and the West, but Iran. Over and over straight up propaganda.
History will remember this. And since those involved are having such a 'great' time live streaming their own atrocities on social media, it's making it the most documented genocide in history and will be watched in detail for generations to come. It's insane to watch people openly discuss they want genocide and be very honest about it, to live stream theirselves killing people and to see them play in children's clothes after murdering them and just look at how passive Americans are. As the news is full of strange headlines like the one above..where FOOD magically keeps itself out of places with no reason or logic, starvation, bombings, displaced people, by....this mysterious nobody! Manipulation... the loss of active verbs will astound you.
I mean, I really do not have love for Nazis and bigots, I dislike seeing any sort of hate and fascism in fury. So, how could I not find it equally unnerving to see a huge group of American Israeli supporters this week carrying flags with stars of David, singing the melody of Hey Jude to 'No more Gaza', and laughing and chanting for the death of 2 million human beings? How is this morally different? Are people really so absurd that if the very same forms of hatred return but it's a diff symbol or reversed it's just unnoticed? Defended even? Are people really just led by some weird guilt so the holocaust was a get-one-free holocaust card for one specific group of people, instead of lesson to defend human life and dignity for everyone???
It makes me wonder, what was our entire culture about? Movies, art, lessons, all the supposed morals and novels from war and fiction and our own history? What was all these decades of artists, shows, film makers, going on and on about humanist topics worth? Streaming years worth of documentaries online about humanity, history, society - only to sit as it happens all over again? How can American liberals watch Republicans lie and say crazy things like immigrants will eat your pets, and laugh at it, and say damn we're not that stupid - but then Israel tells the world Palestinians and Syrians and Lebanese and pretty much every Arab in the world sleeps with a missile under their bed and you're like shit well here's billions of dollars and weapons go end them all? How can you not recognize the same techniques or just really so equally racist? What was the point of culture and movies or documentaries, even Star Wars -- any of these moralistic stories, if you all just sit here and let it happen again without saying a word? Does it have to come dressed in the same attire for you to recognize it?
I don't use FB a ton lately but I will post this here. I don't even try to share overly or get too personal online but with this, I feel it's not good for my soul to not say something more. Fuck Trump forever and I hope he loses or better yet dissolves into a pile of goo, but how can anyone else actually sit at ease or stay silent when this this current admin is fully supporting this and signing off to attack aid workers? If fascism is bad...isn't fkn' genocide?? Are you really ok if its not inside America?? Really? Even good ole American dad Tim Walz says he supports this mass death, so there's your cuddly football coach for you.
I cannot in good faith back my government's actions or those supporting this. This is beyond atrocious and I only can wish people can find their true hearts.
I get that human beings just aren't there yet, we are pretty much just mostly hairless apes fresh off the plains. I try not to be very misanthropic because I don't expect too much from people in the first place. I think there is an endless amount of love and beauty in people.
Still I'm disheartened by my own people on the 'good' side mostly. And with, ignorant celebs like Bill Maher are obviously assholes, most know that I guess, but still. Watching him and other libs saying gay people would be thrown off of a roof by Palestinians, just weeks after I literally watched Israelis blindfold Palestinians and throw them off of a building to their deaths, one after the other, feels like the most demonic gaslighting. Is there some throwing people off of buildings morality system I'm unaware of, or is that generally like, a terrible thing to do? And if being homophobic is a reason for genocide, then what of many of my Texan neighbors, Trump supporters, and the entire USA or half the planet? And I know this is crazy but, I wouldn't want to burn them alive or use white phosphorous on them or starve entire Republican cities to death either. Go figure?
I have friends in Israel and all over that I care for much, I want peace and safety for as many in this world as can be. But there is no way I can defend this, or any apartheid system for that matter.
There is nothing anyone can do that justifies this being done to anyone. Not terrorism, nothing. If you think 'terrorism' justifies collective death punishment and starvation maybe it's time to reconsider if you have a soul.
At very least perhaps we can like, not starve half a million people this month and fight for their dignity. Even just more people saying anything at all.
DIGNITY, something all humans deserve.
Wishing everyone truly a beautiful week and life, and hoping for much better for everyone.

First: Kamala Harris is doing an interview on Fox News today. That’s important. Every Republican not deep, deep, deep into the cult has given other Republicans permission to vote for her. Watch for how it goes. Early votes are skewing real hard Democratic; we can only hope this starts an avalanche.
Now, back to the shitgibbon:
This wtfery happened a few days ago. Repeatedly. They’re all here. Watch his markov chain generator malfunction.
This 39-minute-long what-is-even-happening happened Monday. He stopped his town hall and decided just to hang out on stage and listen to music for half an hour. (More video.) Most of the time he just stood there, then occasionally he’d dance a little.
Even the Russian propagandists made fun of it. They normally puff him up as serious and important and this was too much even for them. It felt very much like a “look at this clown we’ve put into power. Look at him. Isn’t it hilarious?” victory lap.
He didn’t do much better yesterday, cancelling an interview with CNBC before keeping his appointment with Bloomberg News and the Economic Club of Chicago, where amidst his many lies he also said everyone in the world ever is and has been totally wrong about tariffs being bad for the economy (Smoot-Hartley turning the Panic of ’29 into the Great Depression be damned) and also that children could do the jobs of auto workers.
Get out on the assembly line, kids. Build some more gas cars. Maybe we’ll buy you an ice cream before the ocean floods the coastline some more.
Where, oh where, are the New York Times’s “too old” people now? Where is the drilldown? Where is the baited breath, watching for the stutterer to stutter a little again and declare him senile, broken down, and infirm? Ah, but they want him in office – so why would they do that?
People on TikTok were mostly “he is so high.” I think they might’ve messed up his dosage.
The argument that the real plan is to get him into office and then immediately trigger the 25th Amendment in favour of Couchfuker Vance still doesn’t quite hold up to me – they’ll Weekend-at-Bernie’s this motherfucker until he literally falls over dead, since he’s the God Emperor, and also since that gets Vance a de facto third term without changing or ignoring the Constitution. And he’s not continually breaking down, he’s okay enough a lot of the time. Not all of it, maybe. But enough.
But I have to admit, the Vance idea sounds less unreasonable every day.
The problem of course is that when he’s not having a McConnell-esque stall-out, he’s promising to us the armed forces against his political enemies and making it illegal to say things he doesn’t like, all while his fascist friend Mike Flynn keeps rhapsodising about executing anyone who opposes him.
That’s the hard, ugly reality. They don’t even need him to do that, or really, any of the work of Project 2025. He’s never given a single fuck about policy, just about power and hurting people, and they’ll deliver that for him in spades, all while they end secular government in the United States.
That is Vance’s agenda, after all. And that of his backers. All they need from Trump is the occasional scribbled signature.
He’s signed a lot of autographs. It’s all muscle memory at this point. He’ll do that just fine.
And that’s absolutely all they need.
So. I’ve already given you all the arguments I have to reach anyone who might be reachable. People on the fringes of the cult, people who “don’t like politics” and “think politics is boring” so refuse to pay attention. Trump here himself is destroying the idea that he’s the “vote for my wallet,” given what tariffs will do to prices and the economy, but here’s a bit from Rachael Maddow with more thoughts on that whole nonsense. Maybe you’ll find some good arguments in there.
We’re very much in the home stretch, team. Don’t hold anything back, because as I keep saying, this one is for all of the marbles. Bring everything you’ve got and leave it all out there on the field…
…’cause we’re gonna need it.
20 days remain.

I think the people that are asking others to vote for Biden are always missing a big thing.
I get the argument - 'Trump is worse and more of a threat to all of us, so you have to vote for Biden, he's the lesser of two evils!'
Okay, makes sense.
But these posts NEVER EVER bring up the moral dilemma, or how to handle it.
Why 'Blue No Matter Who' WON'T Work Right Now -
You are asking people to directly go against their morals and vote for a man funding genocide -
But then you refuse to give either
1) A way for those people to come to peace with their decision after the fact and
2) A way we're gonna hold Biden accountable AFTER he wins.
You are asking others to vote for a man funding genocide.
Okay, so once they do - and go home and lay in their beds - only to wake up two months later and see Biden sending another 10 billion dollars to Israel-
What moral comfort do you have to give them? For them, knowing that's their money and the man they put into power.
Do you have anything to say to them? Nothing? Because you don't care?
How do you expect them to sleep knowing they've betrayed their morals? Or do you think betraying your morals is something someone can outright choose to do with no mental reprecussions?
And this isn't just some abstract comment. I'm being LITERAL. We all have to go against our morals at least each in our life yes, but you still have to deal with the emotional aftermath.
You all are asking people to set aside their morals without acknowledging that morals, and without justification for it after the fact.
Really, those posts sound like 'Please vote for Biden, we know he's funding a genocide and you don't like that. But PLEASE it's so important. Oh thanks, you voted for him. Wait you feel guilty?.... Not my problem.'
And two - you're providing NO SOLUTION for Biden's behavior.
Biden has been funding a genocide. In the last 130 days he has sent BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars to a foreign country for genocide and war.
You want me to vote for him. And then you never ever ever mention how you plan to get him to STOP doing these things.
You're telling me 'Trump is dangerous! He doesn't listen to the people, he dehumanizes the oppressed and wants them dead!'
Okay, true.
But if Biden ends up in office AGAIN how are we gonna stop him from continuing to abuse his power AGAIN?
Or have you just not thought about that? Are you not concerned about the fact you have no ability whatsoever to hold your own canidate accountable?
Do you just not think about that because it makes you feel powerless and uncomfortable?
Biden has proven he too doesn't listen to the people.
And he in fact, DOES dehumanize the oppressed and does indeed want them dead. Just because those people aren't American doesn't mean anything.
Biden wants oppressed people dead.
So now that we know he does and wants those things - and we can't get him to stop NOW - and yet you want me to re-elect him without offering me methods in which he'll change.
Okay, buddy.
If you want to convince people to vote for Biden you're gonna have to
1) Engage with their morals and explain how they can come to peace with voting for a Genocidal Fascist and their tax dollars being directly used to aid that AND
2) How we plan to hold Biden accountable and change his behavior AFTER I've sacrificed my morals to give him more power.
If you can't do that in your post - shut the fuck up.
You're not gonna tell me to vote for a Genocidal asshole only to tell me 'ummm if you feel guilty afterwards that's not my problem just vote for him okay and also after he's elected I have no idea how to get him to do what we want cause he doesn't even listen to us right now but I promise he's better than Trump so just do it okay'
I'll see entire posts asking for people to vote for Biden - and the post will just not mention Palestine.
They'll talk about Trump, trump, trump - but literally no one with ever say 'Listen, I know Biden is the reason thousands of Palestinians are dead, but-'
Because they know that sounds fucking ridiculous and evil so they leave that part out and hope we don't notice that you've conveniently forgot to mention why we're at this crossroads in the first place.
They tell people to vote for Biden, but never mention why people don't want to vote for him.
Because Democratic voters do not support the massacre of Gaza and Biden does not care.
HOW ARE YOU GONNA MAKE HIM CARE? If you can't tell me - don't tell me what the hell to do. Cause you don't even know what you're gonna do.
If you can't acknowledge the conversation, You're ignoring the crimes of your canidate breaking international law, simply saying they didn't happen or don't matter in the general scheme of things - just like a Trump-ette.
You're literally telling me that Biden will save America and the only chance we have at keeping it... Shit we're not even saying America is 'great', like the Trump-ettes.
We know the US is shit and that Biden contributes to that. None of us actually even believe he'll make America better in the slightest.
At the very least Trump supporters stupidly believe he'll bring about positive chance.
Biden supporters acknowledge he probably won't bring positive change for anyone really. And then they still go vote for him.
That's even fucking sadder. It's less evil, but just as fucking sad.
Voting for a canidate you know doesn't care about you, your education, your health, your home, your life, or really whether you're dead or not.
But you still vote for him - because he's blue.
If you want people to vote for Biden but refuse to engage the moral argument OR Biden's silencing and ROBBING (Yes, using executive action to send billions of dollars overseas against the wills of most Americans is fucking robbery) of the American people -
Please just shut the fuck up. You really can't expect me to listen to that.
'Vote for Biden... just cause!! Don't think about it! Don't think about what happens after! Just do it :) Why? Democrats are inherently better, that's why'
You've got to be joking
So yes, make the argument you want. But if you can't back it up, don't blame others cause they didn't vote.
Blame yourself for not thinking through your point for more than twenty seconds. Blame yourself for expecting people to conform blindly.
If you want me to vote for that man but can't tell me how we're gonna free Palestine from that same man's genocidal glee then I'm begging you to shut the hell up.

to anyone who thinks people are fearmongering about trump please take a fucking second to remember that fearmongering involves exaggeration. people arent fucking exaggerating about the destruction trump will do if he gets into office again. please please please look up project 2025. its not a fucking exaggeration. its real. stop pretending that you can just not vote and that will do anything!! people who support trump will vote no matter how much you think we can just boycott voting. you are just giving them the win at that point! i genuinely cant understand how fucking out of the loop of the world you must be to think boycotting voting will do jack shit in this stupid country.
also i think some people have this idea that there arent a lot of trump supporters. well thats great if you are in a place where you dont encounter any, seriously that sounds wonderful. but i regret to inform you that they do exist and there are still a lot of them. less than 5 minutes away from my house there are people that hold little trump rallys every couple of months. 3 members of my extended family are very heavy trump supporters and there are at least 7 that are probably going to vote for him. by my house there are multiple people on the street with trump flags still flying. and thats all just stuff thats close to me. in this little bubble. please stop pretending that just because you and your friends know trump is awful that it means the rest of the country agrees with you. it is important to realize how many people still support him. because if you dont it can lead people to do what i said before, be stupid and think its better to not vote.
if you need people to say shit about what great things biden has done and the good sides of him and all that shit to literally think you shouldnt vote against trumps plans for a dictatorship then you are fucking hopeless. you shouldnt need people to win your over with biden to vote against trump. if you arent a white cishet ablebodied christian man then you will be fucked if trump gets into office. i dont like biden. im not going to sugar coat that man so that people dont vote for someone who will strip them of all of their rights. open your fucking eyes. boycotting voting is the stupidest shit ive ever heard.

very long and very negative/depressing vent post under the cut because i don't wanna bother my friends at 7 am and don't have anywhere else to put this lmao
i'm gonna be real i'm in my late 20s and have never, ever had what i'd consider a happy life. i've had a few days of happiness here and there but i just do not know what a genuinely happy, fulfilling, hopeful life is like. i might've known when i was like, younger than 10, but my memory sucks so bad that i hardly remember that time and the only thing i was holding onto for a chance of getting to find out someday was keeping trump out of office forever. my mental health gets worse all the time and trying to do anything about it is so, so hard.
and this is going to sound so fucking silly when it's the least of anyone's problems right now but i am the most disney-obsessed person who's never been to disney world because my family could never afford to take the trip. i used to dream more than anything of getting to go with my whole family even just once someday and i lost that dream permanently when my mom died, far too suddenly and far too young, and now i just want to go there for a few days with my dad and brother before my dad gets too old and his health too bad to be able to enjoy it. i just want a nice week-long family vacation where we get to laugh and smile and eat overpriced mickey mouse-shaped food together, my mom's spirit joining us from heaven while we ride peter pan's flight and ask my favorite princesses for their autographs, just once in our lives like so many other families get to do, but i no longer believe we will ever be able to afford that because i'm so scared thinking about if we'll even be able to afford to live the same way we have been under a second trump presidency.
for so long i've fantasized about my family getting out of alabama someday, about being able to move to a state where we could have access to things like health insurance and public transportation that would help mitigate so many of our worst problems, and not to mention abortion rights in case i ever needed one. but moving has always been too out of reach and under a second trump presidency with the rest of the government full of fascists i'm terrified that those states will no longer be able to exist in the same way.
i've dreamed about being able to get a breast reduction--not even full top surgery, just a good reduction because that's truly all i need or want--so i can stop wanting to tear my giant chest off out of soul-crushing gender dysphoria on some days but again, i've lost hope of ever being allowed access to health insurance that could cover that. it's only going to get less and less safe to even be trans, or queer at all, in alabama in the first place. my sister who also lives here in alabama has a wife and two little boys and i'm so scared for them. i'm so much more terrified of everything than i was in 2016 and i am just so, so unfathomably tired. like literally what is even the point of anything anymore? why do i not deserve to know what being a happy person feels like? why does my family not deserve comfort and financial security when they are such wonderful people, so much better than i am? why am i even bothering to cost them so much money and stress by still being alive? what is the point of anything in this world?
#sorry feel free to ignore this but i just. aaaaa#i feel bad for those 'well we don't really know if he won yet' posts i made that started getting notes#because i made them right before the election apparently got called and idk what to even think anymore#idk if there's still a chance or not but i don't feel good about it#i tried to go to sleep because my dad had given me a bit of hope but right as i laid down i got an alert on my phone saying it was called#so here i am treating tumblr like my diary because idk what the fuck else to do

Think soberly about this!
Question?
-Would you allow a felon in your home?
-Would you put a felon in charge of your bank account?
-Would you put a felon in charge of your most private information?
-Would you put a gun in a felon's hands and put him over your children?
If your answer to all of these questions is no, then how can you possibly consider putting a 34 count convicted felon in charge of this entire country?
How can you be okay with putting nuclear codes in the hands of a 34 count convicted felon?
How can you once again put this country's classified documents in the hands of a 34 count convicted felon who gave visitors to his home access to those documents just to impress them?
If you are still willing to put such a person in charge of this nation, stop calling yourself a patriot!
If you are okay with a felon being able to resume his for-profit business from the Oval Office, stop claiming you are for law and order!
What you are if you support Trump, is a CULT member reminiscent of the cult members that Jim Jones convinced to drink poisoned kool-aid and died.
Meanwhile, he himself did not drink the poison!
Trump told all of you the other day while you were sweltering in the Arizona desert, that he does not care about you, he just want your vote!
When someone tells you who they are, believe them!
Trump, disrespected all republicans in the 1990's when he said if he ever ran for president, it would be as a Republican because Republicans are stupid!
Doggone it, if you Republicans didn't prove him right!
Now you are poised to vote for him again and he tells you to your face that he likes surrounding himself with stupid people!
Do any of you not have any shame?
This alleged billionaire, lies to you every time he opens his mouth, calls you stupid, tells you to your face he doesn't care about you.
How is it that you you all lap up behind him like he is the best thing since sliced bread!!!!!
Is your hatred of Black people so deep that you vote against your own interests thinking it is only going to hurt Black people?
For those Black people and people of color who follow this demon, do you hate yourself so much that you are willing to sell your soul for your bag?
Anyone who sits out this election in November or vote for trump or a third party candidate and allow this convicted felon to once again hold the highest office in this land, you deserve whatever consequences that come your way.
I caution you however, to not say a word of complaint to me, because too many of us are trying to tell you he is not the right path to follow!
Once again, I am shouting from the house top the demonic things you are opening this country up to following trump!
The decision and consequences of your decisions are solely yours o bear!!!!!!

I could forgive a lot of things from Pete because I knew his folks and however tangentially, him (my sister was in high school FedChallenge with him and he was over fairly frequently for a few years), growing up in South Bend. He also wasn't a dogshit mayor (despite Smart Streets and some utter mishandling of various issues, but that's inside South Bend politics), and some of the things he has tried to do as Secretary of Transportation have been good...because that fucker loves trains, always has been disturbingly passionate about them. Growing up a block away from him, I get it, the sounds of the trains at night were a lullaby in our very much middle class/upper middle class neighborhood.
Anyhow, aside from all that shit, any past vague acquaintance or how friendly he's always been to my folks, I wish him nothing but cracked teeth and unfitting shoes for the rest of his existence for this comment. If you want to read the appropriately damning article from Jacobin (admittedly a partisan source, but one his father, an avowed Gramscian and hell of a fun guy, would have supported--the arguments they would get into with Joe supporting anarchosocialist views and Pete the most bland Liberal Democratic stuff imaginable often carried when walking the dog near their house, once my father and I even got roped in to refereeing one.) here you are.
Basically, he said that as regrettable as it is, keeping baby formula in stock is not the job of the US government, and then went on to defend the free market at quite possibly the worst time to defend the free market. All an opponent would need to do to win is say "I believe we should feed babies." And they would get 75% of the vote and probably their head on a coin. He could have said "Yeah, this is the price we pay for the free market and it is why some more regulation is really necessary so this will never happen again and also this country could end world hunger with just 40 billion bucks but instead we do everything but that and spend fuck tons on the military and giving tax breaks to billionaires because of outdated and never helpful Reaganite theories of economics..." He could have said anything else, but he didn't. He had to pick the most soulless (he is unique among the gay community in his lack of dancing skills unless he has somehow gotten better through lessons in DC that his husband, an absolute shite who couldn't even get a good autobiography ghostwritten, made him take) and neoliberal take. Pardon me while I vomit bile onto this Buttigieg 2020 election poster I've been meaning to trash for the last four years. He's the living embodiment of Rainbow Capitalism.
I'd vote for him over Trump (not that I've ever really thought he could win, he's simply too nerdy and rat-faced and gay, which is simply not a winning combination--none of these things would stop me from voting for him, but again, he's got a snowball's chance in hell of winning anything if he was ever nominated), but I'd also be out there in front of the White House holding the quote above with a sign on it every damn day he was in office.
Alright, rant over.

(Justins says sometimes you have to sacrifice everything for what you believe in) *stands up quickly* AND THATS WHY I SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO EAT A PICKLE! Because i believe I am way better than some weird allergy! (I go to say something and he immediately stops me) shhh- hold up, Brian is gonna do something cute. OH DAMN LOOK AT THAT KISS AND HUG! I was right. Put on the next episode, i already miss them’
Put on the next episode, i already miss them is the biggest mood ever
Uhh, remember what I said about hearing him wail all the way in CA? Well “this fucking finale for this fucking show better be good or im gonna be so fucking pissed at them” is making me more worried. Maybe you should have some fanfiction all pulled up and ready to go, just shove it in his face while he’s still crying.
The Ted and Emmett party is so so cringe and awful. Poor Emmy.
He wants Bri Bri’s leather jacket (Gale looks so good in leather) for christmas? From you? Oh lord.
I will take a Team Brian and a Little Mary Go Fuck Yourself t shirt when he sets up his etsy store.
I don’t think Justin’s “sometimes you need to sacrifice everything for what you believe in extends to your brother eating a pickle.

This is a November 13th, 2024 reminder that on March 4th, 2024, the Supreme Court of the United States ordered donald j. trump to have 87 Democrats in both houses of Congress remove his insurrectionist disqualification from ever holding any federal office again; because if he didn't, nothing, including MAGA SCOTUS, could stop Democrats in the House and Senate from disqualifying him; even if he wins the 2024 presidential election. He failed to do so prior to November 5, 2024. He's now counted down to his last 18 congressional business days of opportunity to resolve this matter.
Between today, November 13th, 2024 and December 17th, 2024, donald j. trump has no choice but to go to Congress and have 70 Democrats in the House of Representatives and 17 Democrats in the Senate vote to remove his insurrectionist disqualification, as he was ordered to do by SCOTUS on March 4th, 2024, or he's not legally the President Elect and cannot be inaugurated, sworn in, or hold federal office again on January 20, 2025.
The clock is down to 18 days, and ticking!
If MAGA mike johnson refuses to allow a House vote, then that's an instant disqualification for insurrectionist donald j. trump.

Chuck Schumer Democratic Leader of the Senate https://www.congress.gov/member/charles-schumer/S000148 https://www.schumer.senate.gov/contact/message-chuck

Stop the excuses.
But, before I get into what I have to say about people and excuses, I'm going to pop in a little disclaimer. Maybe, just maybe, MAYBE, you believe your own bullshit.
If you fall into this category, let me give you a pro-tip: from a person with a lot of life experience, NEVER, EVER believe your own bullshit. It won't do you any good. Life won't arrange itself around the maypole you created. It just won't.
For the past however long this has been, I have heard excuse after excuse from people for voting for that guy.
PSST... come here. Yeah, you, come here...
we all know it ain't the price of eggs. And you know it, too.
I heard that Kamala didn't have any policies, which, is funny since she reiterated the same several key policies every single time she talked. Like, EVERY single time she talked. If I had to bet on it, I would bet none of the people who said this bothered to look at her website. I mean, if it can be cured with a quick Google search at this point, and you refuse to do even that minor bit of legwork, it isn't a reason, its an excuse. And we all know it. You carry a computer in your pocket every day.
Unless, of course, you are just so damn narcissistic that you expect her to come to your house personally and hold your hand and explain everything to you while she spoonfeeds you applesauce, YOU BABY.
Grow up and research candidates if you don't know. It's part of your obligation as a voting citizen to find out. You aren't the judge on a celebrity fashion show.
I have heard its the woke stuff. Well, buddy, you are about to see what comes on the other side of that woke stuff, and it is going to hurt like a bitch. Should I buy you a box of melba toast?
I heard its a Gaza protest vote. It's about the Ukraine war. Let me tell you something: Your vote doesn't have a why stuck to it at the end of the day. There is no "comments" section on your ballot. There is no yellow sticky note that the candidates all get to consider. This isn't a yelp review. All that matters is who wins and how they plan to move forward. Maybe by the next cycle a candidate or party can regroup, but by then, the damage can be long done. And we all know Trump isn't going to be kind to Gaza. And let me say this, because I really want people to hear it loud and clear: You would have to be doing some drugs I am yet unfamiliar with to believe that he would be.
And yes, you may not like the war in Ukraine. Yes, it is dragging on. Wars aren't pretty. They aren't easy. They aren't quick. They are expensive. You aren't going to get an Amazon delivery war. You aren't going to get a Wish/Temu discount war. That doesn't happen, pumpkin. AS A QUICK REMINDER: there was one war in Europe that lasted 100 years.
I don't like war, I'm not in anyway a hawkish type, and the idea of suffering and bickering over pieces of ground isn't something I relish, but a peace that just plows over people isn't somehow better.
Should I put your teething ring in the freezer?
I heard its the border. And yet again, I'll reiterate that they had a bipartisan border bill that was shot down by Trump's allies. Maybe get your senators in fucking line, assholes. You want a border bill passed? if that is what is important to you, why aren't you sitting outside your senator's office asking them why they shot it down? Why aren't you taking those asshats to task for shooting down the bill that was offered that apparently everyone liked until Trump whined about it like the little bitch he is?
Because you are full of shit. That's why. You want to believe that the president is supposed to fairy-godmother bills and budgets into being. Like government is supposed to be some pumpkin that turns into a carriage just for you, poopsie pie.
Maybe this generation needs more Schoolhouse Rock. "I'm just a bill, I am only a bill, and I'm sitting here on Capital Hill... "
Wait wait wait.... They had a sale on Gerber and Beech Nut. I have plenty more mashed peas for you.
My favorite thing that I have read is that it would have been ok if she had been a classier woman or other stuff about her dating history. Which is the funniest damn thing I think I have ever read, considering ya'll voted for the tackiest man you could literally have ever found. A real cocaine-with-hookers sleazeball. A guy with a GOLDEN TOILET that owns an apartment that makes the early 80's blush. A man who has multiple affairs and paid off a porn star. You cannot stand on a concept like class when your dude has a golden toilet. You just can't.
Take that whole class/reputation/whatever shit and just shove it where that thermometer goes. Because I'm not going to hear it.
I also am amazed that people tried to sell us on the idea that someone who was a district attorney in a large city, who had experience in the senate and also had 4 years as a vice president, was somehow... Unqualified.
Unqualified. Unqualified with a similar record to men who have run whose qualifications were never questioned.
Or when news pundits acted surprised that she handled herself well in a debate. AGAIN, she was a DISTRICT ATTORNEY in a major city. Did you think she couldn't ... argue? Seems like a hell of a take.
OR... and this is my favorite... that at least Trump is funny. At least he isn't boring.
I am from the age of boring politics. Let me tell you something, you goddamn children: YOU WANT BORING POLITICS. Boring politics is a sign of a country that isn't going to hell in a handbasket. Boring politics is the machine working like it is supposed to, it is people doing their job every day to make shit work. Its building respect and coalitions that work together for mutual solutions. Not boring? That's bad news. I miss the days when C Span was a delightfully boring snooze fest.
If you want entertainment, you have infinite options elsewhere, YOU SPOILED BABY. The world isn't obligated to cater to you and your whims.
At the end of the day, all these full-of-holes excuses don't actually matter. Because we all know they are excuses. Like the eggs you bitch about while you buy another TV or $75 skin cream.
Maybe the blame lies somewhat on the internet and what it offers. The easy constant entertainment. The cheap goods. The quick turnaround. TikTok shoving questionable "facts" into your face. Maybe.
But, I expect I'm right. They are all just excuses, even if you managed to gaslight yourself into believing them.
Either way, better buckle into that carseat, kiddo.

ok long election post incoming
it wasn't one thing. it was every thing. and it starts at the top. when democrats don't govern, thy don't give anyone a reason to vote for them. and when they only cater towards specific groups [for example the college educated] they may end up losing other groups
campaigning against something but for nothing is not a persuasive strategy. especially when people have experienced it before and came out on the other side.
governing you can blame on joe. you can blame the administration for not taking enough credit for its accomplishments. you can blame them for only bragging about it to people who aren't listening. you can blame the administration for writing a blank check to israel.
campaigning you split the blame. joe dropped out too late and not having a primary*. and harris lost momentum when she started listening to the consultant class. she didn't distance herself from the things that got joe a 38% approval rating. you can blame biden for not building a campaign.
But. she started listening to the consultant class i'm sure because they were showing her numbers like people think you're too liberal. and that only happens when you lose the culture war. [the culture war says Black people and women want to take away everything good in the poor little white man's life [and anyone who aligns themselves with the white man] which started in like 2008, and has only grown exponentially with the strengthening of the conservative media empire, the 2016 election, the 2020 protests. not just podcasts but sinclair media and fox news.
democrats are so proud of their ground game and their volunteer numbers and their donations but no one ever stops to think why they need all of this, especially after trump wins with basically none of it.
it's their media empire but it's also because democrats aren't doing enough in office. I also want to say that the premise behind all liberal aligned outreach is horrendous. they put your number on 150 different lists and everyone wants to make sure you vote and you're registered. because they don't have a large enough loyal base. because they don't do enough in office to earn people's support.
and the people who are their strongest base, the ones who turn out - Black voters, are far more likely to be subject to voter suppression- be that too few polling locations in a region or voter id laws or Bomb Threats or Ballots Getting Burned.
fundamentally the party also doesn't understand its broader base, mostly because of the consultant class. therefore , they don't know who they're supposed to govern for, and they would rather keep donors happy [because again, see the outreach problem]
Democrats should look to push popular policies** and focus on the economy [in an inclusive way]. returning to the running against vs running for point- if your opponent only sees you as running against something, that is a huge hole that they can fill with whatever they want. and for them, it's culture wars.
if democrats are only seen as the party that is socially liberal with no economic policy [because they do not talk about it] then republicans [who have no morals] will fear monger uninformed voters with lies.
and how do these lies get reinforced? how do they gain traction? how did republicans grow their base and maintain turnout? they created a media infrastructure outside of the mainstream media. this is through podcasts and streamers and alt right pipelines on youtube and elon buying twitter. inundating people with fear tactics about how diversity will create a zero sum game that you. will. lose.
if you look at the map of voter swing [all the red arrows] people at first said that's insurmountable there's nothing she could have done. then they said well she is underperforming 2020 numbers and he is holding. 2020 had abnormally high turnout because of the pandemic. many people for the first time in their lives had access to ways to vote other than in person on election day.
2020 was in a sense a perfect storm. trump was bungling a pandemic that everybody still acknowledged was happening, deeply unpopular, and joe biden was able to unite the party after [amid] a messy primary enough to come in and play hero.
and then they arbitrarily decided the pandemic [and public health] was over. that it was too taxing on the public. too unpopular. when in actuality people are begging their governments to lead them. They never sent out checks they promised in the name of fiscal responsibility.
they passed the inflation reduction act but didn't know how to publicize it enough. they decided the only way to get back on track was to raise interest rates, which increased the cost of borrowing money, which limited things like building housing.
meanwhile if you look at exit polls, people said they voted republican because their cost of living was too high.
harris did start running on affordable housing. but it was too late. the party didn't have a strong enough platform. they REMOVED mention of being against the death penalty. they take no human rights stance on palestine. they alienate people who wanted so badly to lib out.
now, why would a presidential candidate have to run on something like building more homes? because the states aren't building enough. the big blue democratic trifectas don't govern as they should. their schools are funded by property tax and property tax is based on the value of a home and if you add more homes or more people [people who are not the same as you] the homes may lose their value. and of course school funding isn't why homes aren't being build in cities [cities that need to run up their D votes to offset more conservative areas in the state]. it's because people were raised with the idea that real estate is an investment. it's a way to make money. and with the basic principles of supply and demand, if you have less, demand will increase, and if demand increases, you can sell for more.
so now you have red states building lots of housing for cheap, not getting fucked over in the census, and gaining population and therefore congressional seats and electoral votes. these people do not vote out republicans. they agree with them or the state democratic party isn't strong enough or they don't vote at all. meanwhile blue states won't ban single family zoning until it is too late and because of their high taxes [to pay for social services] and wages [because of the cost of living] the cost to build is higher, and less gets built. so these states lose population, they undercount in the census, they lose representation. now their representatives have to cover more ground. which leads us into the second biggest problem the democrats have:
after /during trump, they don't know what their identity is. they don't like their base. many of the democrats in leadership positions are overly intellectual and aim for a kennedy vibe. they like their consultants and they really don't mind the old republican party either. they've grown used to the reagan republicans like frenemies. because as many really wealthy people will show [with their votes], they won't be affected by a rollback of the social net, of healthcare, of abortion. they'll find a way. after all, money can get you a lot of things in life.
because of this they open the tent. they say anyone who is not a trumpie can come in. we want all the help we can get to go against this guy. show the country that there is one sane option. [but what is it that they say ? the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. hmmm.] they invite the cheneys in. they say we will govern for everyone. and this means doing things like not playing hardball in nominations and appointments, not doing enough to push things through. mitt romney was right when he said 49 percent of voters don't matter.
the best way to govern as the head of your party is to be strong. let your members carve their own path, but people like politicians who have a backbone. who stand for something. who fight for something. not people who say " when we win, we'll codify roe v wade!" that's bullshit and everyone knows it. moreover, it's not even a sound legal decision. you're still letting five lawyers set healthcare policy for the nation and enshrine it as a constitutional right. literally what? [not to mention the trimester shit .. when does life begin blah blah blah]
**and now, the biggest problem of the democratic party: nobody likes them. the party as a whole is DEEPLY unpopular. it does not make sense that candidates up and down the ballot are outperforming a persidential candidate like this. it doesn't make sense for progressive policies [ballot measures] to outperform candidateS like this in red states.
but post LBJ [into nixon, reagan-present] the party fell apart and never got back. they've had flashes of charisma [W Clinton, Obama] to get them through, but we are living in a republican era. in the same way people who lived FDR-LBJ lived through a democrat era. [my apologies to jimmy carter]
nixon awoke the modern republican base and reagan made it mainstream. his minion bush kept it moving and then bush's son brought it into the new millennium. many thought there was a new era with obama, that we wouldn't look back. but it turns out it was just enough for one of the greatest conservative backlashes in politics. and just because republican insiders were new to the trump ways didn't mean they didn't pounce on the opportunity to regain power.
all this to say, since LBJ democrats have been clinging to scraps with every democrat in office, just enough to keep the country functioning. which means, once again, that they do not govern enough to be likeable. they do not campaign to be likeable. because they value policy, but they cannot communicate it. Republicans are great communicators because they lie. and their base doesn't care.
every once in a while there will be a great communicator from the democrats- FDR, JFK, Obama. but so often the party, at all levels, will shun this talent. because it's not their time yet. because someone else was here first. because that's not the message the party wants, now or ever. they like their consultant class, they don't mind being republican lite, especially when the alternative is trump.
the name democrat is bad vibes and we lose elections because of it. that's a branding problem, it's a policy problem, it's a candidate problem.
*the primary. people say well there should have been a primary. okay. and who would have won that? after forcing biden out for age? do you think gavin newsom would have won? do you think the party would have let sanders or warren get it? shapiro [who I don't like but obviously has aspirations] had one year in the Pennsylvania executive. AOC isn't old enough.
the democrats have no bench. why do they have no bench? because they are constantly getting wiped out by the red wave. i mean, they have a supermajority and don't govern. they let republicans dictate policy. they cede whole arguments to republicans [see "balancing the budget" and the culture wars]. republicans put effort and money into recruiting every race. they bankroll new candidates and they send them to seminars to get all the talking points they need. they create a whole judicial ecosystem with clerks from their supreme court nominees.
meanwhile democrats are too worried about getting beat by republicans, about making sure everyone in line gets to die in office. they don't invest in the infrastructure to build and coordinated campaigns and recruit strong candidates. in fact, some of the strongest candidates have come from primary challengers, people who were at one point shunned from the party because they didn't wait their turn.
.
the democrats need to take a good long look in the mirror and then smash it with a hammer. they need to break it all down and start from scratch. they need to exile the consultants and work to create an independent media infrastructure to get young minds on the pipeline to progressive ideals. they have fucked up royally a few too many times for it to be coincidence. they froth at the mouth to run against trump and they blow it most of the time. they wouldn't know how to run against a "regular" republican if a campaign plan hit them in the face. they need to create a coalition, they need to create state party infrastructure, they need to campaign on the things that are popular and use persuasive messaging. if they can do a better job if they can understand actually what needs to happen maybe they'll have a chance. i'd like to see it, but I won't bet on them.
#bc i have been far too annoying on twitter today#this is long as heck but i do feel better after writing it#also i have not and probably will not be spending any brain cells if i can help it thinking about what is going to happen when he gets in#i did that last time and it was bad

The former US president’s return is dreaded in many European capitals, but not in Budapest. Orban is openly praying for a Trump victory to give himself greater room to manoeuvre on the world stage and a more decisive role in the Western Balkans.
A warm reunion is expected on Friday when Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban meets Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. With the former president riding high in the polls and his Republican nomination all but assured after the Super Tuesday primaries, Orban could well be sitting down with the next US president.
“We would very much like president Donald Trump to return to the presidency and make peace here in Eastern Europe. It is time for a ‘Make America Great Again’ presidency in America,” the Hungarian leader said during his recent state of the nation address in mid-February.
Last week, at Turkey’s Antalya Diplomatic Forum, Orban reiterated his belief that if Trump had been in office, there never would have been a war in Ukraine, and that Trump is the only person who can broker peace and stop the bloodshed. “Trump’s return is a precondition for a strong and quick peace on the European continent,” not only in Europe but also in Gaza, where the former president “understands the conflict”, claimed Orban.
The Hungarian leader has invested a lot in this particular political love affair. Orban supported Trump even before his surprise victory in the 2016 general election, and did not turn his back on him when the Republican lost to Joe Biden in 2020.
In the last four years, Orban and Trump have become ever-closer political allies, praising each other for their right-wing, anti-immigration policies, and fighting shoulder-to-shoulder against progressive, woke ideologies. Orban even endorsed Trump publicly when multiple criminal charges were filed against him. “Keep on fighting,” he encouraged the former president on Twitter.
Now it’s payback time, many in Hungarian government circles are hoping.
“The political climate between Hungary and the US would certainly change if Trump was elected, and the pressure on Hungary would soften: ambassadors would not micromanage and differences would not be discussed in public,” says Tamas Magyarics, US historian and professor emeritus at Budapest’s ELTE University, alluding to the current US ambassador David Pressman, who is never shy of criticising Hungary’s democratic backsliding under Orban’s government, and who has also waged a fierce social media campaign that often mocked its members.
Gladden Pappin, the US-born director of the Hungarian Institute of Foreign Affairs, whose recent interview to Unherd was titled “Why Does the American Right Love Viktor Orban?”, is even more outspoken. “Let’s face it, Hungary is under quasi-sanctions from the US. The Democrats funded the Hungarian opposition, Washington cancelled the tax treaty and rolled back the visa waiver program. These are distressing and harmful measures. With Trump back in office, relations will normalise,” Pappin predicts in an interview with BIRN.
While the lectures on democracy and liberal values will probably cease, no one is yet talking about big deals or investments. Defence purchases from the US are on hold, especially after Hungary extended its lease on Swedish Gripen fighter jets instead of switching to US jets like the Czech Republic.
Big in the Balkans
Trump’s return to the White House is unlikely to elevate Orban’s status much on the world stage, but it could increase his influence in the Western Balkans, some in government circles expect.
“Peace in the Western Balkans could be high on Trump’s foreign policy agenda,” Agoston Samuel Mraz, director of the conservative Nezopont Institute think tank, tells BIRN.
Trump’s former Balkans envoy, Richard Grenell, could make a return to the US administration, bursting with ambition, he predicts. “A lasting peace – a peace agreement between Serbia and Kosovo – could be a historic achievement for Trump, who wants to leave his mark on history,” says Mraz.
Orban’s expertise and close personal ties with most of the region’s political leaders could prove invaluable to this effort, while he could even act as a go-between between Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik and a Trump administration.
Playing to Orban’s strengths is the conviction that democratic values will take a back seat as Trumps follow a similar realpolitik– and transaction-based strategy to the Hungarian government, which looks to prioritise business deals over anything else.
A diplomatic plus for the Hungarian government is that the US presidential election will take place during Hungary’s six-month stint as president of the Council of the EU. As one the few European leaders who has a direct channel to Trump, Orban could gain some extra heft from this in EU political circles, suggests Mraz.
Dragon in the room
A potential stumbling block to all this is China. In 2023, China became the largest foreign investor in Hungary with the arrival of the world’s second biggest electric carmaker BYD and leading battery manufacturer CATL. Orban openly promotes the idea that Hungary, as an EU and NATO member, could form a “meeting point” of Western and Eastern businesses.
Some experts in Hungary wonder how far Trump would be prepared to tolerate such an idea. Yet those consulted by BIRN insist that a “pragmatic approach” will eventually win out. Mraz from the Nezopont Institute is counting on “perhaps a few rough months in the beginning”, but does not believe that Hungary’s friendship with Beijing will be a major problem in the long run.
Magyarics also plays down the potential danger, arguing it is rather Berlin and German industry that have the most to fear, not Budapest. “If Trump had introduced a 50 per cent tariff on Chinese products, as he promised in 2016, he would have lost most of his voters. The US, like Europe, cannot completely cut itself off from China. But if there is pressure on Europe to align itself with the US, it will be a problem for Germany and Brussels, not for Hungary,” Magyarics says.
Pappin, the director of the Hungarian Institute of International Relations, shares this optimism. “Trump’s main agenda will be to rebuild US industry. He is a dealmaker and will not put pressure on other countries,” Pappin says with conviction.
Yet he also admits it is too early to predict what a Trump 2.0 foreign policy will look like exactly. “The world has become much more complex than it was in 2016, when Trump was governing in peacetime. But it is almost certain that the main focus will be on Ukraine, the Middle East and Asia,” he says.
For Europe, the biggest challenge will not be China, but how or whether to continue financing Ukraine in its war with Russia. “The US pocketbook will not be open forever,” Pappin warns, referring to diminishing US aid to Kyiv.
Shared Heritage
The policies Trump will campaign on are currently being drafted with the help of the Heritage Foundation, a Washington DC-based conservative think tank that also plays a central role in US-Hungarian relations.
Heritage’s president, Kevin Roberts, is set to host Orban for a panel discussion on Thursday, the day before his meeting with Trump. Heritage, which is positioning itself as a pro-Trump think tank, is already training civil servants for a future Trump administration, with rumours that up to 12,000 bureaucrats will be laid off. And pro-Hungarian government organisations, such as the Centre for Fundamental Rights and the Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) training centre, are regular guests of Heritage.
Orban’s political director, Balazs Orban (no relation to the prime minister), who also acts as a key foreign-policy adviser, spent last week touring Washington DC, including the Heritage Foundation, while promoting an English translation of his new book, Hussar Cut – The Hungarian Strategy for Connectivity.
Budapest will also again host in April the European iteration of the Republican Conservative Action Conference, or CPAC, one of the largest international gatherings of conservative to far-right thinkers and politicians. “Hungary’s soft diplomacy is strong, the country is back on the map,” reckons Pappin.
Likewise, during the US election campaign, Hungarian campaign advisors could share know-how with Republican colleagues who are mainly interested in how to create “effective government” that will ensure long-term governance and a sufficient majority. “The Republicans are aware that it is not enough to promise lower taxes, more needs to be done to protect conservative values and traditions,” says Pappin.
In fact, Orban shared his playbook for power at the CPAC conference in Budapest in 2022, which to many critics sounded like an autocrat’s guide to power. Advice included – among other things – building a strong media empire to control the narrative, creating (or rather taking over) institutions, and building a strong national and international conservative community. All these are measures that have led inexorably to the eradication of much political competition in Hungary and a highly polarised society.
Of course, there are legions of critics in Hungary who warn about Orban putting all his eggs in one basket, and if Trump loses the election in November, Hungarian foreign policy and wider diplomacy could find itself in a dark hole. With Biden (or any other Democrat) in the White House, US-Hungarian relations would sour even further, while Orban could even lose friends in the Republican camp as it jettisons baggage and looks for fresh faces to reinvigorate the party.
“In politics you have to take risks, just like Orban did in 2016,” says Magyarics. “It worked then; it could work this time.”

Let's even entertain the notion that this one, singular time, against all historic precedent, "sending a message" by refusing to vote works, and the Democrats become a psychic hivemind and magically manage to take exactly the meaning you want them to from you staying home on election day.
Trump and the Republicans are planning to dismantle the entire mechanism of our democracy. They have been extremely blatant about this in no uncertain terms. If the Republicans win office again, they have a plan set to tear down every institution that stopped them from stealing the last election, and locking themselves into power eternally.
If Trump wins, our democracy dies.
So good job. You shifted a handful of people slightly to the left at the expense of ensuring that no one who shares your values will ever hold a position of power to actually do something with that change of heart again.
when i see people express sentiments like this, my thought is pretty much “who exactly are you trying to prove a point to?” the democrats? if trump gets elected, they’re going to be completely sidelined if not worse and will be entirely focused on trying to get back in power and i can tell you they will NOT be moving further left. netanyahu? it’s a BETTER outcome for him if trump wins since trump is SIGNIFICANTLY more pro-israel than biden has ever been. the people in gaza? they need a ceasefire which has been rejected by both the israel and the hamas sides multiple times and a trump win WILL NOT make that a stronger possibility.
