oh ye I forgor

the stuff we made during our practical lesson this week. We made a few different variants of stollen, 3 small loafs of apple bread, husaren krapfen and these lil marzipan bunny looking things that idk the name of (if you know plz tell me they are so good and our teacher didn‘t let us keep the recepie 😭). we also made vanillekipferl and spitzbuben in different variants but the pic was hella blurry so you‘ll have to imagine them.

the break room in the workshop builing of our school was hella cold so we ended up having a sitting circle literally in front of the oven during lunch break
and later the same day I went out with two friends and we found this potentionally passive aggressive sounding inspirational mug at a tedi

#a tedi is baicly a dollar store chain…but for euros i guess#the apple bread is really good#the stollen too but they need to rest a bit more#the secret behind a good stollen is that you store it for at least two weeks befor eating it#there is so much butter and sugar that nothing can really happen to them as long as they are stored dry#kinda like stews they get better with time

In this article, we will explore the fascinating world of Stollen, delving into its history, different types, and even sharing some mouthwatering recipes. So, grab your apron and let's embark on a culinary adventure!
Understanding Stollen
What is Stollen? Stollen, pronounced as "shtoh-luhn," is a sweet, yeast-based bread that is enjoyed during the Christmas season. Its origins can be traced back to the 14th century in Dresden, Germany. Initially, it was a plain and simple bread, but over the centuries, it has evolved into a rich, fruit-studded masterpiece. This tradition holds deep religious significance and is a staple in many German households during Christmas.
Types of Stollen
Traditional Stollen Traditional Stollen is the quintessential Christmas bread. It is made with a rich, buttery dough filled with candied fruits, nuts, and spices. After baking, it is generously dusted with powdered sugar, representing the Christ Child in swaddling clothes. Marzipan Stollen For those with a sweet tooth, Marzipan Stollen is a delightful variation. This Stollen includes a marzipan log running through the center, adding an extra layer of sweetness and decadence. Nut-Filled Stollen Nut-Filled Stollen is a crunchy twist on the classic. Packed with roasted nuts, it provides a delightful contrast to the soft, sweet bread. Chocolate Stollen Chocolate lovers rejoice! Chocolate Stollen is a modern twist that incorporates cocoa powder or chocolate chips into the dough. It's a chocolatey delight that's perfect for those who crave a cocoa-infused Christmas. Gluten-Free Stollen Inclusive of dietary restrictions, Gluten-Free Stollen is a lifesaver for those with gluten sensitivities. It offers the same festive flavors without compromising on taste or texture.
How to Make Stollen
Ingredients To create a delectable Stollen, you'll need the following ingredients: - All-purpose flour - Sugar - Yeast - Milk - Butter - Candied fruits (citrus peel, cherries) - Almonds - Spices (cinnamon, nutmeg) - Raisins - Lemon zest Step-by-Step Instructions - Begin by activating the yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar.
